It has an enticing opening with some pacing issues (some flashbacks being a bit anti climatic). The art style is fantastic, with beautiful environments and Japanese movie inspired cinematography.

However, soon after the world opens up after the initial events, it very soon feels boring. There may be a lot of question marks or POIs on the map, but there's not much curiosity or story elements that urge me go anywhere. It's like telling you a long term goal and leave everything else to the player without good leading or bridging, which is quite different to lots of other open world games (you can have a tight main story quest lines but still free to deviate and explore the world).

I just can't keep the interest to play to the end

A great example of great visuals and aesthetics not equaling great gameplay. The gameplay is lackluster and the missions are all the same. The map is filled with a ton of the same repetitive side activities. Combat and story are good, but cannot carry the game on their own through 3 acts as the missions are structured identically.

    Positive side:

    +The wind mechanics are interesting.
    +A good artistic side.
    +A nice setting.
    +Good combat system.

    Negative side:

    -Bad textures.
-Combat system that soon becomes repetitive and boring.
-A decent story but nothing exceptional for me.
    - A very bad enemy artificial intelligence.
    - Secondary missions almost all identical and repetitive where you will find yourself doing almost always the exact same thing but in no particular order what to follow the npc, check the footprints and kill the Mongols.
-Secondary activities that quickly become repetitive and boring
    -Decent facial animations.
    -Little variety of enemies.
-An empty and lifeless open world.
-A bad camera in confined spaces.
    -Mediocre stealth.

In my opinion Ghost of Tsushima is a "good game" but nothing as great as it is described by people, for me Ghost of Tsushima except its positive sides is a totally forgettable game. P.S. I think people rate this game positively because it is an Playstation exclusive, a samurai game with Japanese setting, it has a beautiful setting, an excellent combat system and excellent artistic direction.

I think this is because unlike other open world RPG's like Horizon, Skyrim, and even God of War, in Ghosts of Tsushima you fight the entire game with the same weapon. And the only "stats" you can progress are really just health, melee damage, and amount of damage taken by an enemy. And this is mostly based on which armor you're wearing. I didn't find much use for most of the different armor sets you unlock, since again--there isn't a lot of variety of stats for them to affect. And the gameplay is pretty basic, so it doesn't impact the gameplay all that much either. I upgraded the default armor all the way and used that a majority of the time.

The game has a few extra things to help you in battle, like wind chimes, firecrackers, bombs, etc. But you can only carry about 3 of each, so it's not really game changing to have them. I honestly didn't even use them much aside from the final boss fight because I was desperate to fight off the waves of enemies. I was making due just fine with the basic stealth kills since the enemies were spaced out a lot most of the time.

The missions are extremely monotonous. I never felt like I was doing a whole lot, despite the long cut scenes that you can't skip, of characters telling you how important these missions are to them. And the game itself wasn't very long. You can do the main story missions and finish it pretty quick.

Then finally, the main story is pretty basic and kinda stupid. Your uncle is mad that you're saving everybody just because it isn't the samurai way. It's annoying to hear him complain so much about it while you're out here saving lives.

A fairly underwhelming game. I hope the sequel has more of a variety of things so that it feels like you're actually progressing. Made me wanna play something better once it was over, TBH.

Well unfortunately, the Open World is just a very beautiful wallpaper, there's no risk or depth here, it's the same old formula that gets tedious after a while.

To be frank, there's a big variety of tools when it comes to combat, and the feeling of the Katana is excellent, smooth animations and many abilities to unlock, it's a very enjoyable experience despite the repetitive and shallow quest design, which is by far the biggest problem of the game.

As for the story, it's pretty simple, predictable and very forgettable, the pacing is all over the place and most characters are uninteresting, but there are some pretty great emotional scenes that are very well done.

In the end I was left a little bit disappointed, because honestly, I couldn't get attached to this game, but I really had fun playing it, that being said, it's a solid experience overall.

    Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

The game is beautiful to look at. The combat is fine but ultimately is not interesting or complex enough for the length of the game. The story is fine but I was a little underwhelmed. But overall it was an above average game and I don't regret playing it.

    2. Sandbox - the visual part is very beautiful, but dead. Physics is non-existent and you feel that everything is a decoration.

    3. Characters - unfortunately this is where the game disappoints. Characters are not well written without any backgroud. You don't believe their words mean anything to them. Imagine that in the whole game not even one character will smile to you or laugh - terrible writing.

    4. Story and side quests - the story is primitive, only children will believe. Side quests are even worse - the game becomes footprints simulator. The end game is great though.

    5. Music and sound - music is good but you get only several classic Japanese tracks. Voice acting is bad - you always feel that the voice is from other room not from the place where characters speak.

Overall this game had huge potential to be a masterpiece but it needs much improvement to become one. It's a shame Sucker Punch did not go further with their ambition.

It's been more than a year since Ghost of Tsushima came out and I finally decided to give it a try.
It might come off as a surprise to some of you, but the narrative is a mixed bag in my opinion. While the premise is interesting, the conclusion is predictable - albeit beautiful - and I couldn't get emotionally invested to certain plot points because the delivery wasn't engaging at times. Overall, Ghost of Tsushima's story is alright; it's not bad but it's not very good either.
The gameplay is amazing though; it's probably my favorite part of the game! it's varied, it's challenging, it looks cinematic and it feels very satisfying.
The music is great, the cinematography is fantastic and the visuals are some of the best I've seen in any videogame.
Also, I love the way this game utilizes the touch pad.
As I said before, the world looks gorgeous, however, the quest design is monotonous for the most part.
The characters are likable and their Tales are quite intriguing, but most of them are forgettable.
The stealth lacks depth and there are surprisingly many forced stealth quests in the story.
Lastly, there's not enough enemy variety and the unskippable dialogue makes the dull side-quests even more tedious.

    Pros:
    + Serviceable plot
    + Exciting and cinematic gameplay
    + Really good music
    + Superb visuals & cinematography
+ Fascinating utility of the touch pad

    Cons:
    - Weak storytelling & unmemorable characters
    - Repetitious quest design
    - Shallow and forced stealth
    - Poor enemy variety & unskippable dialogue

    Narrative: 6/10
    Gameplay: 9/10
    Content: 7/10
    Characters: 5/10
    Music: 8/10
    Graphics/Audio: 10/10

    - Good -
Despite the fair amount of flaws, Ghost of Tsushima is still a good game; it's fun to play, it looks and sounds incredible, it has a decent plot, some cool mechanics and a massive map filled with content.

Yes but I'd recommend it mostly to people who enjoy playing Open World games.

It leads you into unbeatable bosses not telling you that it's unbeatable. I hate it when games do this. It's like someone giving you something and then taking it away after. Gameplay feels like something from PS3. Graphics are -b at best. Combat works alright although parrying is basically pointless as it's high risk and low reward. Just block. Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
