Game of Thrones copies the well the world and spirit of its source material, however the story and characters don’t achieve the same levels. [Dec 2015]

A season that began with much promise doesn’t quite deliver by the time the sixth and final episode’s credits roll. Some fine characters and a real sense of what makes the Game of Thrones universe tick mean this is worth checking out if you crave more stories from Westeros and beyond in the wait for more books and TV episodes.

The first season is one that is full of hard choices and a lot of sacrifice and feels very much in line with what fans have come to expect from Game of Thrones, but just how much all of this will matter has been hidden away for a second season.

If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, Telltale's version is a must buy. It fleshes out the universe in a great way, with a really exciting story and a great cast of characters – you know, the way Telltale usually rolls. The game is however not without its flaws, including crammed in book characters, boring storylines and a tempo that sometimes is a drag.

The story rarely establishes itself as anything more than big budget fan fiction.

I won’t give another Telltale game two pages in our magazine again, until they’ve cleaned up their shit and made some actual technical improvements. The world keeps turning, please try to keep up. [feb. 2016 / page 061]

Even if you’re a fan of the books or HBO show, there’s not much incentive to play Telltale’s Game of Thrones.

This game, had impressive, detail, to the book and show, and the story was immense, yes, the North Grove was actually explained!! To all you dim wits out there! Great game, get it, sit down, and enjoy the lavish world of GOT, telltale does tell a great story!! Expand

Thought it was very engaging. As far as I could tell it seemed like my decisions were having an effect, whether they ultimately did or not - the illusion worked. I thought the story was quite good and really captured the vibe of the show. Expand

Secondly the game is full of slow moments were almost nothing happens and where the discussions doesn't seem to have any importance.

On the other side each episode also has those high-tension or epic moments. And there is also major changes on the story depending on your choices (my girlfriend and I have don't have the same ending at all) and I'm curious to see how it will continue on Season two, it's the first time the choices matter that much in a TellTale game and that's a good thing. And obviously the Game of Thrones universe, with actors from the actual show actually playing their role was great.

In conclusion the game has a mixed writing, bad technical qualities, but builds momentum on an expected season and on the whole universe of GoT in general, an experience that may please some but for the moment I'll wait to see the second season to see if they build on this season and improve the global experience or if it stills lack rhythm.

Really enjoyed it until the last episode as it felt like it was one upping the shocks of the show but for the wrong reasons. Performance isn't brilliant even with playing it on the PS4 and graphics are almost PS2 standard but for me that's not an issue. Expand

It includes well written characters in a slightly offputting artstyle, some characters from the show also appear with actual voice actors from the show.

Game gets into a good pace around episode 4 however then throws most development away to focus on show characters again. Pretty dissapointing and miserable story overall, they clearly wanted a multi season thing but never made a sequel. Usual telltale issues of chocies not mattering (made worse here given you always lose), performance problems and slightly awkward dialogue

Interesting by itself as an interactive movie, but as most (or all) Telltale games, your decisions don't really make any major changes to the story. The game ends with a cliffhanger but the sequel was never (and will never be) released so it's not satisfying at all. . Expand
