Final fantasy xv is by far the best game in the long running series in years. FF13 was junk, but 15 is everything i hoped for and much more. The game isnt perfect but after being in development for 10 years the work has paid off. Ive been playing ff games since the Nes days and im happy with ff15 is truly a masterpiece.

The combat flows like water, something i have seen so many games attempt yet fall short of. The artwork of this game is something of a spectacular to behold. If you enjoy looking at things of beauty, you'll love this game. Everything looks beautiful, even the monsters. The story isn't a world class novel but more like a grade A+ short story that will keep you wondering. Overall the strongest feature this game has to offer is its ability to make you feel immersed in this divine fantasy world. Amazing. Expand

This game is a big market in ploy, it's a deception. It is a really bad waste of time with a terrible story and an empty world with not much to do unless you enjoy fetch quests and monster hunts. You can't even really drive the car freely its more like a loading train youre stuck on while you wait to get to the next area.

All the fan boys up voting it with 10s and 9s in release day never played it and their reviews should be removed from the his game is absolute trash.

If you don't believe me just watch a play through of it or read about the story. A complete joke and scam

But WAIT!. If say he's driving there and suddenly it turns into night time, guess what. The idiot will stop the car and tell you it's better if you return back to camp/post to sleep the night because it's dangerous. So this means teleporting back to where you started from 8-10 minutes earlier.
But wait, there's more, say you want to force through the night and try driving manually, if a monster shows up on the road the car will either A) automatically U turn or B) stop and kick everyone from the car forcing you to fight the insane damage daemon that will kill you.
All in all you'll spend endless hours just driving to places.

FFXV is easily the game of the year in my opinion. I'll admit that I was skeptical of watching one of the most beloved franchises of my childhood move towards a "hack and slash" RPG. I'll admit that I was skeptical of watching one of the most beloved franchises of my childhood move towards a "hack and slash" RPG. Lots of terrible games, such as Dragon Age 2 for instance, have put such a sour taste in my mouth for this genre that I found myself bracing for the worst. I'm really glad that has not at all been the case so far with FFXV.

At this point i've sunk about 10 hours of gameplay into the game so far (I haven't been able to put it down since it came out last night) and I've loved every minute of it. Square really nailed this game. The combat is surprisingly fluid and fulfilling, I love the secondary jobs each character has and have very much enjoyed the massive open world with side quests, treasure hunting, dungeons and crafting material spawns. It seems that Square Enix took some of the best parts of previous final fantasy games I loved and expertly crafted them all into one masterpiece.

The hunt system carried over from FFXII, which was easily the best part of that game. The hunt system in FFXV is every bit as satisfying as it was in FFXII, if not more.

The sphere grid upgrade system has been massively improved from FFX. There are now multiple sub categories that allow you to upgrade your crew as you see fit, whether that would be focusing on battles, exploring, jobs or whatever way you want to play.

The magic system is ported in from FFVIII, which I'll admit I used to hate back when VIII came out, but they've refined the draw system to nodes that grant you 60-80 of a specific element and then you can craft whatever spells you want from your menu.

Outside of that, the chemistry between Noct and his friends is amazing, the banter they have throughout the game has been very pleasing and fun to experience, and I very much enjoyed Promto's random terrible "beat boxing" of the final fantasy victory music after some battles. The music is outstanding in FFXV, and being able to listen to all of the old FF songs while driving in your car just makes the music that much better.

Many of the bug-bears other people have had with the story or with the car don't really bother me. I've been able to follow the story just fine so far, and while the car does feel like it is on rails to a certain point, I want to point out you CAN still wreck it. I had just started playing and finally finished the missions to get my fancy car all fixed up and went to take it out for a little test drive in manual mode, and I made it to the first turn and ran it straight into a barricade causing it to have to be repaired once again. 10/10. Also, I'm glad the car doesn't go everywhere, otherwise there would be no need for Chocobos to even make an appearance in FFXV, and if the car did go everywhere on the map, people would just complain that there is no use for Chocobos.

Either way, this game is a solid 10/10 for me. I'm glad that after 10 years I can finally get excited about such a beloved franchise again.

The world is pretty empty, full of characters that have petty requests making it a heavy side quest fetch game, instead of actually trying to take back the crystal you're just messing around with strange people doing oblivious things. And for last, the best thing about this game and the reason I'm giving it a 7, after you beat the game there's tons of things to do, tons of bosses to defeat that can take hours to do so, this is by far the best aspect of the game, it's underwhelming, but it's not a bad a game, for those who like mindless action fun you might aswell try this game, for those seeking a good Final Fantasy this isn't. Some of these reviews are pathetic. "I've cleared the game in just less than 40 hours." Uh, no, you haven't. The game has been out for sixteen hours. And if you're five, six, seven, even eight hours ahead in Europe, that is maximum 24 hours. So no, you haven't cleared the game and most of the side quests. Get over yourselves. Nothing but haters putting 0s to put 0s. I gave it a 10 to combat that, but honestly I would give it a 9.

The combat in this game is spectacular. It makes tedious side quests fun. And believe me, there are some tedious quests. Think World of Warcraft 2004 when every quest was either fetch X number of items, or kill X number of enemies. My sole criticism.

How can you hate on Noctis and his group of friends? They're the most shelled-out, realistic group of dudes we've seen in a long time. You can relate to them, they make you laugh, they make you cry.

You have to refill the gas tank, you don't replenish health after battles, you need to actually use those items you save up for the entire game. It's awesome. And even after it all, you can come back to the open world to get what you missed and trust me, you'll not get stuff, because you need to complete the game to get some stuff, you need to be way higher level to get stuff, kill stuff.

The mini-games are hilarious and awesome. I love how SQE brought back betting on races and what not. Riding chocobos around. Man.

And the nostalgia. The car. The old FF tunes.

I've read that you get sucked into a linear portion when you need to advance the story past the open world. What's the problem with that? Story is what makes an RPG, and this one so far is a doozy. I am excited to see what we get when I get there

Buy this game. Play the heck out of it, you'll be sad when it's done, I'm sure.

    Puntos positivos:

    Sonido

I want to forgive the game as being largely an interactive movie except that unlike the uncharted series, it wasn't well written enough to be a movie, full of plot holes and bizarre choices that make no sense. At one point the same set of characters are shown 10 years apart, looking exactly the same down to the clothes. Its still a playable game, but its flaws are heavily displayed and theres nothing special to redeem it. Its also incredibly short for a game that took this long to make. Expand

If you love brawler Action games, you will like or maybe even love the combat in FFXV. It is that good. This game is a 9.5 in it's current state( a few minor bugs and gripes), but giving a 10 to offset a hater or two.. Now if you are on the fence, here is a few things to keep in mind that answer some of the haters critiques.

    1. Story- It starts a little slow and takes a few hours until you can feel the flow of the game/ combat. Stick with it! The combat becomes addicting and the world starts to become alive after 3-5 hours. Do side quests, complete hunts, collect gear, do side dungeons make the experience your own! No need to rush.

    2. Graphics/ development cycle: Yes there are a few moments where the graphics look slightly off for AAA budget title. Again just stick with it because I swear they get better and the world becomes more dynamic. As I progressed I had more and more wow that looks AMAZING moments. Again, this game has been in development for 10 years ... 10 years!! That fact is also a positive because with a 10 year dev. cycle comes ton of depth and hidden goodies/ things to do. This game is HUGE!

    3. Characters: Embrace the JRPG protagonists/ antagonists and the weirdness that comes with a game like this. Once you do, you will find their humor and development enriching. There is a ton of depth here. Get past preconceived notions of looks and instead explore the emotions and motivations that lay beneath the surface... they are present in this game and how you interpret the events unfolding is your own unique experience. This way of experiencing a JRPG leads to more rewarding overall experience.

    4. Watch Kingsglaive/5 animated shorts: They add a lot of background for what is going on. It makes the initial wtf is going on moments way less and adds depth to certain characters popping in and out (Example and very minor spoiler: I freaked during that early moment when you see Titus at King Regis side when Noct is leaving on his trip. Only someone who watched Kingsglaive will understand that relationship this early in the game. Two total bad asses with intertwined fates.)

This is a great game, on the brink of an all time great. FF is back folks, deal with it.

A Final Fantasy with a weak story, weak characters and a combat system suitable for a child? Not my cup of tea, thanks. Square Enix is following the industry worse attitude: give eye candies and, thanks to a titanic marketing operation, hiding many low points of this product. This is simply not a Final Fantasy worth of this name: enjoy your GTA style car, true JRPGs is not here.

The characters are awkward and unoriginal, but at the same time very inconsistent. How the managed to create characters like that is as much a mystery as why they decided to. The most fun I had in this game was killing goons, but they soon that became a chore as they died faster and faster, and it became apparent that they didn't really fight back.
The boss fights are way too long and not very intense (though I am used to Bloodborne bosses, so I might be biased), and an example was at a point in the game where I had to fight a Titan, and that battle consisted of pushing three buttons in the same sequence 7 times to see the same visuals again and again and then it died after 10 minutes I couldn't help but think could have been used better.
The visuals are nice, they really managed the graphics well
I personally do not like side quests that are obviously just fillers, but I can tolerate one or two, but to make every single one one of those, and you have yourself a real load of garbage
I did not enjoy this game, and therefore will not recommend it to anyone.

And why the emo hair for the boys? Why do they style their hair like this before going on a trip to save the world? Just why? Why do we have to play such people? And how can Square Enix not realize this totally clashes with traditional JRPG shenanigans? In JRPGs you go out and try to survive, hunt wild animals, kill them, eat them, you're poor, you try to get around. In FFXV you're a rich little pince with emo hair and real life brand clothes and STILL hunt wild animals and beat them up with your big sword for hours while laughing with blonde.

We are in front of a great epic tale narrated exquisitely, one of those that recalls the great episodes of the franchise such as FF IV or FF VI.

However, where FF XV really shines is in its post-game adventures, where the world is laid upon us to explore and disover its many secrets, hidden bosses, ultimate weapons and more which takes around 300 hours to complete.

An epic Odyssey of dethrone, realms conflicts, maturation and dramatic flavor where we've got to face our destiny against a whole Empire, and the entire World itself.

I really liked the soundtrack, but other than that Final Fantasy XV doesn't have much to offer. The visuals and size of the game feel lackluster in relation to its long time in development, and the story is sparse and rushed. This is the most mediocre game out of all the final fantasy franchise. My major complain is the story, clearly the story is unfinished and it's not as intriguing as I hope for from a final fantasy franchise. The gameplay is just mediocre at best and it could be repetitive at time. Overall it could have been better but this game just scream out mediocre at best.

I inadvertently reviewed this game for PlayStation. My review was meant for Xbox one.

I originally rated this game a 4, but after returning to it for a second play thru I feel I was overly harsh. The game is much better once a better understanding of techniques, ascension, traveling, combat, magic, non-obvious content and travel is obtained. It's not my favorite game, but it does provide many hours of entertainment. Below is my original review:

FF XV was my introduction into the Final Fantasy series. I would say I have a love / hate relationship with the game, but I really don't love anything about it. I did play for over 100 hours so I imagine I did get some entertainment out of it.

I tend to love open world, role playing games. I would say this game is half that, and half a linear, incoherent separate story. I never grasped how the open world portion of the game related to the main story line after the first few chapters. After completing the main story line, I researched it on the web to fill in some of the blanks only to find out I had completely failed to comprehend the story line ending. But with internet help I was able to unlock a time traveling dog and return to playing the open world game. Thanks for the help, someone.

The car / travel system gets bashed ad nausea, as it should. The amount of time wasted via driving / fast (slow) traveling to a point to allow fast (slow) travel to a different point was borderline comical. The car drives at a game clock speed of 1 mph and only holds about a pint of fuel.

Drive to location (wait). It's getting dark (whine). Fast travel to rest area (wait). Camp (wait). Fast travel to car (wait). Walk 1/4 mile to tomato. Pick up tomato. Fast travel to car (wait). Drive back to diner (wait). Run out of gas (wait longer). Give up tomato. A new recipe!

The combat system didn't do it for me either. The camera is bad to say the least. If my character out-leveled my enemies it worked best just to hold the attack button while ignoring the TV. Most efforts I made to dodge / think / control the action resulted in me performing worse. When fighting enemies that out-leveled me, the game became a button masher (attack, dodge, take another potion). I did like the visual appearance of most of the animal enemies though.

I didn't care for any of the main characters. The metro boy band look, shoes 9 sizes too large, trotting around like chimpanzees, constant whining, standing around while I kill everything made me wish I could just go it alone. "its hot...its cold...i'm tired....i'm sticky and gross....camping again....can't you catch something bigger....talk about back seat fishing...whoo hoo, bath time!" Good god. I turned their voice volume off for a while, but then I could not hear anyone else who was so eloquently instructing me to fetch another tomato in Dukes of Hazard style southern drawl.

I found the end game dungeons to be a monotonous, repetitive drag as well. How can you have the same stair case enter the same room 100 times in a single mission?

Character leveling was sad. Fishing, cooking, photography and buying new boots? How does this fit with some apocalyptic story line going on in the background? I caught some world record fish though. My 300 pound grouper yielded one meal. The fishing would be greatly improved if there was some way to stifle the commentary. It becomes grating in a manner of seconds.

I was dumbfounded by the ascension tree for most of the game. I searched if for hours trying to find a way to kill Prompto. I had completed the main story before I comprehended creating simple spells as well. Maybe I am just slow in my old age.

Anyway those are my thoughts. Thanks to all the web support that helped me get through this game. I was stuck many times.

For example you can beat the crap out of an enemy with a weapon that said enemy is resistant against. That makes no sense. All in all the gameplay lacks any kind of depth.

Story: Its really an overly simplified story and pretty straightforward most of the time. However the story and especially the characters really lack the substance. And the characters arent really likeable either. Gladio is like a pregnant woman who's on her moodswings. I mean literally,on the mission of receiving the gods blessing he goes from "STFU U PIECE OF WHINY SH*T" to "I actually care deeply for you my love" in the span of 2 seconds. Ignis barely has any character in the base game and is only there to be the great tactician although he only states the obvious..."ignis,how should we infiltrate the base?" "Well,we should take them down 1 by 1...BUT,without them noticing" wow 10/10 mastermind right there. Prompto is...well I kinda like him but only because he has actual emotions, like he is the only one that gets proper character development in the base game. But the main character? Noctis? He is the worst of all,he is whiny, takes everything too seriously and just tries too hard to be HIP & "cool". Many people say he is like that because he has gone through much sh*t but thats not true, many things are literally granted to him. And I know that cloud from ff7 or squall from ff8 were emo-ish as well but at least they had a f*cking reason to actually be emo; cloud was literally mind-raped by an extraterrestial lifeform, fell into the earths core, fought another replica of the alien, got stabbed and pierced multiple times and was even a disabled person in a wheelchair and you call him emo? He at least has every f*cking right to be so. Same with squall,he had a reason to be the way he is,but noctis? He lived a royally comfortable life with no problems or challenges and even on his journey he seems to not even care for the world or his people. Hell he wasnt even enraged beyond chapter 3 after he found out his empire has fallen. Its not until the end that he cares, its like the writers thought to themselves "oh lets just put in a timeskip and call it 'character development'". The ONLY thing I can give credit for is that the main bad guy in the game is written so well, his lines are perfect, his voice so soothing and his character is so full of himself while being so dangerously evil. That is the only interesting character but honestly if they sticked to the original versus saga like how it was supposed to,then it'd have been much better imo. Again the story as well as the characters are pretty underdeveloped and its even worse if you followed the game faithfully over 4-6 years. Those faithful fans were promised a game with the versus saga but got a skimmed down version of something noone knows about or even asked for. Its a big "f*ck you" to every faithful follower who followed this game over at least 4-6 years.

Its kinda like getting promised to marry someone but you find out that your fiance cheated on you on the day of your wedding after so many years. Thats how I felt when I played through 15,betrayed and hurt as a longtime fan. And I'm only 19 years old so I'm not a cranky old dude either.

There is another button that you press to warp across the screen and strike your foe from a distance, but that's basically it in terms of offensive maneuvers.

Speaking of boring, the game lets you watch a car drive through the scenery to travel the lands of Whateverland. You can not steer the car other then turn left or right at crossroads. It's on autopilot for most of the time and you just watch as it drives down the road and listen to the childish banter between the characters inside the car.

The quests are tedious, and literal fetch quest. The same guy will send you to different spots over and over again to collect dog tags for example. These quests just boil down to a few minutes of watching the car drive, arrive at the general location, go to the map marker, fight a small group of easy creatures, pick up the dog tags and watch the car drive back to collect your reward.
Other quests make you comb through an open area to find and collect small things. These quests will test your patience and have you running in circles over and over again, looking behind every rock until you finally find the last little quest item.

There are a few noteworthy things, like nice graphics and animation. Some of the bigger creatures look good as well, but the combat in this game is just so bad that it doesn't matter what you're fighting, it feels meaningless.

Add to all of this a shallow story, bad voice acting and overall strange moments like you and your party riding on the back of pink birds while acting like a group of eight year olds, and you know why after 12 hours of forcing myself to keep playing, I eventually just quit.

I did not know this game was developed so long as they say? But it still was released bad in my in opinion the combat is to auto and the word is dull, the story is incomplete. Then I was looking forward to the DLC with the female heroines and they cancel them!? This is a disaster.

Rushed, unfinished, need to consume movies, comics, anime and follow forums to understand who are most of the characters.
Uninteresting story, main protagonists are forced and really dumb why they're there in the first place.
Cutscenes are for the most part low detailed in-game. Game clearly developed to sell the actual content down the road. Cannot recommend in it's current form

Couldn't care less to try the multiplayer.
The game CAN be summarize like this:
Main awesome movie, lots of low quality chatting, 80+ hours of fetch quests, beautiful incomplete lackluster ending, results; worst execution to a seemingly good story and promising good gameplay that under delivered hard.

Many elements of this game are great, such as the combat, graphics, music, and world. But the game has a messy story and writing. Plus the game has one of the worst sections in a video game ever. It has many other problems, but it's still a fun game overall.

Square (the Squaresoft part of SE, or the little that is left of it) is without direction. So what do they do? They turn back to an old FF that was not quite as classic as its 2 predecessors. That's wright, I'm talking about Final Fantasy 8. What's that? What does FFVIII have anything to do with FFXV, you say? Well, let's see:

    - Angsty main character who likes to "Meh" and shrug for dear life? Check!
    - Enigmatic naive blonde with parakeet hairdo? Check!
    - Authoritative bespeckeled traveler who speaks a lot more than protagonist and should probably be the main character because of this? Check! (Oh... I meant Ignist of course... and Quistis, and yeah)
    - Buff dude with "take no prisoners" attitude? Check! (Think of Gladiolus as Seifer, had he been "good" from the start)
    - Cutesy short-haired girl who appears after about 3-4 hours of play? Check! (Iris)
    - Mystical character connected to mystical things and stuff? Check. (Gentiana aka Shiva... aka Edea)
    - High-ranking love match for the protagonist who is more emotive and has more military sense than protagonist? Check! Check! Check!

Now we put these into a futuristic world where the main heroes dress like cadets, and we turn the protagonist into an orphan by killing his father after never really spending much time seeing their relationship in the first place...... and we have them drive in a car for their first official trip out of Homeland.......... and we have points where elemental magic can be drawn........ and we make sure the first place they visit is more of a quickstop than an actual town...... and then we take the car away for a bit....

Oh dear.................................. this whole game WAS modeled after Final Fantasy VIII. No wonder they decided not to do an HD remake of that one. They didn't want people to see the similarities.

Okay, so let's do a quick rundown of the good and bad:

    Good:
    -Music
    -Visuals
    -Map Design
    -Battle Mechanics
-Attempt at "realistic" fan service for both genders (it is a JRPG after all)
    -Anime-like tropes in a non-anime package
-Inventive beast/monster spawns (except those they just rehashed from FFVII: Advent Children; like the dog things)
-Nice fauna ideas (esp. the animals you DON'T need to kill)
    -Vehicle Customization
-Random encounters with SPOILER ALERT ... Galbadian Troops!!.... (to be fair, this has been Square's go-to since FFVI on the SNES.... it's just a representation of the US/Western Powers and their over-militarization for pretty much everything)

    Bad:
-Story is bland (the various DLC "Episodes" were actually sometimes better than FFXV itself); FFXII, whose story I dislike for being lifted from Star Wars, actually has a better story
-Character Design is uninspired... this is a game released for 2016, not 1996... we need to move on.
-Not really an open-world game at release... yeah yeah, off-road tires update later added, but now my vehicle looks like a tractor
-Bugs for enemy spawns (this is particularly a PS4 issue, as I have the game also on PC and it is not a problem)
-Fishing (Ocarina of Time nailed what it meant to fish in a non-fishing game... Noctis will never beat my 34lbs. Hylian Loach! and....)
-Photography (Pokemon Snap! nailed this one......... okay that's a joke, the photo stuff is pretty cool, but on a more serious note
-Cooking....... because you can't actually cook.... but more importantly, although it's becoming a trend in Japan to show realistic dishes in games and anime, it's sort of a weird thing everywhere else in the world.... like, we don't care unless the game itself is realistic... for example, Witcher 3 or Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which both attempt certain levels of realism. Final Fantasy has never been realistic to us... except maybe FFVII and VIII

    Anyway... that's that.

Buy this game on sale if you haven't already. It's not worth more than $30.

It's complicated to review a game that was teased more like an event or an experience, I fell in Square Enix's trap and I eat all the media that came before the game: movie and anime episodes, so my time with the game was pretty positive in regards of lore and story. With that in mind, my review goes as follows:

First things first, the mood of the game it's perfect, it starts as a best friends road trip and that feeling of adventure and friendship never gets old, the sound team made an amazing job making every sound feel almost real, things like footsteps, rain, forests at night, even the sounds of the Regalia (your car) when closing or open its door, it may sound dumb but the immersion and the feeling of traveling with friends through the sound design it's outstanding, it also makes the Regalia like a 5th companion to your adventure. Which leds us to another great topic, your party, the developers took the great decision of making a small party that always accompanies you, they feel real and their dialogues are so detailed and at times silly that only helps to build a real bond with them, there's no need to watch the anime episodes about them but it sure helps to stablish and understand some things related to their personality or bond with Noctis, speaking of Noctis, at first I taught that I was going to hate this guy because of his "generic character and design" but the truth is that I really like it, I understood his feelings and decisions, also I firmly believe that is necessary to play this game with japanese audio, I'm not a big fan of the english dub, its not bad but not great, also is pretty noticeable that they took a lot of liberties with Noctis, they feel like complete different persons, where the Japanese is kind of introvert, sweetheart and silly, the English one sounds more stoic, "cool" and it kinda tries to be Cloud, so at least for me, that it's a big no, no. As for the supporting cast, there are some cool characters like Aranea or Lunafreya, they're good but not as good as our main villain, I won't spoil anything but as for me, at least he is now a top tier antagonist on Final Fantasy franchise.

I really liked how Square Enix dished out unnecessary complex and convoluted stories like the one presented in the first installment of FFXIII, instead, we have a simple "reclaim your throne" kind of story that works for the best, I really liked a lot of the twists and turns, I have no issue with that, but its worth note that there are major events hinted through the game that are just hinted but really important to the overall plot, mainly things in the movie and stuff that happens in the Episode DLCs, its not that they felt so necessary to the plot but they sure feel like holes, speaking of holes, the game has a nice rhythm and passing until you arrive at a point of no return (at 3/4 of the game more or less), it feels rushed and suffers a lot of breaking the immersion.

As for the gameplay, I have mixed feelings about it, first, is very simple and enjoyable, at times almost addicting, its simplicity compensates with its flashiness and fast passing action, my only problem is that the HP system it's broken, you can kill almost everything if you have enough potions so in order to enjoy it you must put a rule of limited potions, but then again that's a thing that was meant to be solved by the designers, not you. Another negative aspect is the side questing, the world map is massive and so beautiful, it's accompanied by a masterfully crafted soundtrack led by no other than Yoko Shimomura (which make instant classic songs for this already filled with classics franchise), but it kind of feels empty at times, the only thing that makes you do any quests is for the combat, which maybe is no the cup of tea for everyone but it's very fun.

In the end, the negative aspects didn't were overweighted by the positive ones, its characters felt to me like real friends and its twists and turns were for the most part very interesting and enjoyable, as for the ending, it has a heavy punch that reminded me why I prefer storytelling in videogames over other media.

The combat system is weak, and is the biggest flaw of the game. It doesn't take a great amount of variation to beat this game, and it's sometimes difficult to keep track of exactly what's going on.
Usually repetitive combat is fine for a FF game, but in this situation the story doesn't make up for it at all. You just don't care for the characters, and they lack the likability and emotion

Final Fantasy is renowned for its diverse characters and worlds, in FF15 there are only 4, and they look like a Japanese boy band all sporting similar dark coloured outfits. Very little thought went into the character designs this time. As for their characters, they’re pretty generic and uninteresting.
The combat is just boring, you’ll spend a lot of your time mashing only 2 buttons and there’s very little preparation spells or buffs that are actually useful. I basically button mashed through the second half of the game as I became aware of how shallow the combat is, the game became a chore to play.
The open world, is just as disappointing as the generic characters, bland and barren with the occasional small “town” not once was I impressed with the world.
The story simply doesn’t make sense, and I don’t mean it’s cryptic, there are literally huge plot holes, unexplained circumstances that really ought to have been, it’s obvious the developers ran out of time and didn’t actually finish the game.
As for mini games, fishing is quite good fun! In fact, the fishing was my favourite part! But that’s it for mini games that are actually fun.
To conclude, FF15 in my opinion, is not a Final Fantasy game, it’s a broken wannabe FF game that tried to appeal to a broader, more casual gamer but ended up a complete mess.

However, I don’t think I have ever played a game that gave me as many conflicting feelings as this one. After several months since my last playthrough, I think I now have the perspective to express my final thoughts: it is a game of extreme highs and lows. At times, I felt like it could have been my favorite game on the PS4 (long time FF fan here), and at others it was laughably bad. The high points luckily save the game for me, as I still really enjoy it and will likely revisit it to play again sometime.

    What I loved (+):
-Road-trip w/ chocobros through an americana-inspired world mixed in w/ classic final fantasy was a very unique, generally well-executed concept (when it comes to just traveling and exploring the open road)
-Constantly entertaining and dynamic interactions between the 4 protagonists
-Beautiful art design including many of the locales, monsters, cities
    -Immersive dungeons
-Amazing soundtrack (Yoko Shimomura put so much love into this)
-Hunts: frightening and epic battles with some classic FF monsters was a blast.
-A solid ending that redeemed some of the agonizingly bad parts of the 2nd half

    What I hated (-):
-Patched together storyline; I seriously cannot believe the game was released in its initial state w/ characters that are presented as critically important only to be never mentioned again, dramatic scenes expecting you to care about empty characters (JARED!!!), innumerable plot holes, and a bizarre hodgepodge of lore that didn’t really mesh well
-Empty-feeling world; while being out in the wilds of Eos was awesome, it felt really empty when it came to cities and NPCs. The world is essentially made of two major cities you visit (lestallum and altissia) and then dozens of nearly identical gas stations that were just cut and pasted. The NPCs also looked like they were from entirely different game worlds (dudes with polo shirts and khakis), which was completely jarring in comparison to the main protagonists, Aranea, Iris, etc. who look like proper FF characters.
-Side Quests: the laziest, most uninspired side quests that have zero connection to the overall story; seriously, I encountered the same cut-and-pasted NPC several times with a broken down car asking for help.
-Undeveloped back-stories: while I loved the 4 main protagonists, there could have been so much more development and flashbacks to backstories. The same goes for characters like Luna, Aranea, and Ardyn.
-Battle customization: while the battle system was actually really enjoyable, character customization was almost nonexistent, with hardly any cool new skills or mechanics to look forward to.
-Difficulty: far, far too easy. The low difficulty gave no incentive to actually strategize for battles.

All in all, this is a game that had so much potential to be a masterpiece for me, but ultimately ended up being an enjoyable, albeit highly flawed experience.

Hay muchas misiones secundarias, muy repetetivas. Aburridas.

I enjoyed the game overall but there were some important flaws (at least in my opinion) I played the game at release and there were some annoying bugs and some really bad camera sometimes. The story was decent but that's it. Graphics were good, though.

After so many years of development, Final Fantasy XV is not what I expected it to be. The universe is immense and beautiful and the characters are just fine. But the story is short and disappointing and the gameplay suffers from lack of depth. FFXV is a good game, but it can never bring the former glories back to the series.

Even as you reflect on the rarity of a blockbuster that's willing to take real risks, you'll be left with the uncomfortable realisation that ten years wasn't quite long enough, after all. Those jagged edges are, in the end, just a little too sharp. [Feb 2017, p.110]

Despite a divided feel, torn between what it was and what it plans to be, Final Fantasy XV has a lot to offer. If you're a diehard JRPG fan, then it's a positive sign that the series can cross over to a new format. And if you're just looking for an open world adventure, Final Fantasy XV certainly has that in spades, while doing just enough things differently to separate it from the likes of Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls.
