Concept: Create a hybridization of Final Fantasy elements both old and new without it feeling like a cheap adventure title with the name plastered on but not really holding onto elements dear to the series.

Graphics: The graphics are for the most part spectacular and the animations are impressive and detailed. Camera angles are odd at times especially when paused mid-combat, however the gameplay never suffers as a result.

Sound: The voice acting is superb and there is an available collection of classic melodies from Final Fantasies both old and new. Some of the Final Fantasy XV pieces themselves are less stellar than others, however the soundtrack is passable.

Playability: The locomotion in terms of vehicles is one of the worst elements of the game as it is such an integral part of gameplay at times. However, combat and overall control of the game handles well once you overcome a slight skill gap.

Entertainment: The world and players won’t lack for activities both main and side content related to dive into. While the experience takes a hit in its later narrative exploits and also in its ability to traverse the expansive world, the overall experience is an enjoyable and worthwhile one.

    Replay Value: High.

The PS1 era Final Fantasy titles remain amongst my favourite experiences in gaming and, while this latest entry in the series isn’t quite up to those standards, it’s certainly an improvement over some of the rather forgettable recent efforts.
In terms of story the attempts to create a sort of “brotherhood” amongst the four main characters will help to give players more of an investment in their party than they perhaps did in Final Fantasy XII or XIII but, to be honest, the characters still aren’t as memorable as those from the PS1 days and the plot becomes a bit of a mess by the end. The open world itself certainly looks great but, outside of the enjoyable “monster hunting”, too many of the side quests are simple “fetch quests” and best just ignored. On a side note, and this is a criticism of open world games in general rather than Final Fantasy XV in particular, why do characters giving out side quests just stand in the same position for however long it takes you to get back to them? (One guy waited by his car in the middle of nowhere for 2 weeks until I brought him a repair kit to fix it!)

Those that have been following the series will know that it has increasingly moved away from traditional turn based combat, something which does seem to have split fans. Personally I don’t have a problem with updating the old school RPG combat (did anyone actually like random battles?) as long as what replaces it is good and the combat here is pretty enjoyable, arguably even bordering on excellent at times. It certainly takes a bit of getting used to but, once you get a handle on it, it does prove to be suitably deep with a large selection of weapons and special moves available to tackle the enemies which all have different strengths and weaknesses to counter. The only real issue for me in the end was that the camera was pretty poor at giving you a decent view of the action, especially when you’re fighting in more confined spaces or when you get surrounded by large groups of enemies, you can manually move the camera but getting it in the right place in the heat of battle isn’t exactly easy.

There are a few other issues, such as relatively long loading times when “fast travelling” or car journeys that require you to just sit and watch as a passenger for periods of up to 5 minutes, but these are minor annoyances rather than anything that completely spoil the game.

To sum everything up Final Fantasy XV is a good game that will appeal to most fans of the genre, thanks to a few design decisions and camera issues that affect any combat in confined spaces however, it falls short of being considered an all-time classic in the way that some of the earlier entries in the series are.

Maybe its not Versus but at all it's better than i excepted after all thoose years. Mature and sad story, top graphics, one of the best soundtracs. Major disappointment of this game for me is causality, some of Astrals unsumonable and lack of females in party (except quests). I'm waiting for future patches and improvements.

FFXV is a disgrace of FF franchises. I had known before played that this game was not much good, still it was even worse than my expectation. I could not bring myself to finish it. I could not bring myself to finish it. I stopped at the middle of chapter 5. The major problem is the story writing is so terrible, "VERY TERRIBLE". It started with boredom and kept on going with boredom. I heard that the latter chapters are even more of boredom so I decided to give up. I did not buy this game just to chill out with car driving or fishing or cooking meal. I need excitement. FF series always create excitement but this game fail miserably in this area. ( Actually, I am a fan of FF, but I won't protect it because of that)

Combat system is one and only ok thing in the game. It is just ok not great. Most of the time, you don't know what you are doing. Keep blocking and waiting for parrying are the safest way to win yet most boring way but you have no choice because the battle always become chaos. Legendary weapons will drains your hp (I don't know who come up with this idea but it is stupid.) It is fun for a while before you start feeling repetitive for doing the same and the same. You have no control of your friends either, which contradict with the standard of FF series thus far. It is unique system though so I don't want to be harsh but it is barely hold players. It needs refinement. Magic is an item now WTF and Summoning has no freedom. Many things went wrong here.

    Other Bad Points
    1. Loading time kills the game
    2.Car speed is too slow
3.No girl in your party (Seriously ?)
    4.Graphic is not that impressive.
    5.Boring uninspired sidequests
6.Music is not memorable as other previous FF title

Good point ?? - I don't know, can't think of any. Maybe Luna looks good, that is it

Overall, it is just an barely ok game. It has length, open world and unique battle system, but they should not put the "FF" name on this one. If you are looking to open-world game, I suggest go for Horizon Zero Dawn instead. 5 of 10 is a very generous score from me. Without an acceptable yet flawed combat system, the score would have been much lower.

Regarding the gameplay, I think this new action-RPG approach is taking the franchise in a good direction and it brings the combats to a higher level of enjoyment. Unlike other Final Fantasy games, I didn't really need to do level grinding in order to progress through the story (except for chapter 14) completing only the side quests I was feeling like doing, which makes everything more dynamic.

The only negative things about this game are: bad camera handling (sometimes I lost track of Noctis) especially during combat ; the story is told poorly with gaps here and there ; and many of the side quests are irrelevant which makes completing 100% of them not really attractive.

The story of this game is good and interesting, but the problem is if you want to understand the whole story then you have to first watch Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV.

This new battle system known as Active X Battle (AXB) is similar to the battle system used in Final Fantasy Type-0 and Kingdom Hearts. The player can only control Noctis, while the other characters are controlled by the AI. In battle, the player can use co-op moves that allows interaction with other characters. The magic system is not very good, while the summoning system is interesting. If Noctis gets KO'd then it's game over, but when Noctis falls to 0 HP then begins critical status and you have a limited time to heal. This battle system is good and interesting, but I was hoping that they will use and improve the ATB system from the previous Final Fantasy games. From Final Fantasy XII to Final Fantasy XV, they began to apply a battle system in which a player can only control one character, which is bad. The last Final Fantasy game where the player could control all the characters in the battle was Final Fantasy X. Unfortunately, after the Final Fantasy X series they stopped using the two best battle systems they made. The CTB system from Final Fantasy X and the ATB system from Final Fantasy X-2 were the best-improved versions of the traditional Turn-Based Battle system. They should use and improve one of these two battle systems or both in new Final Fantasy games. The thing I like in this game is the development of characters. The Ascension Grid is much better than the Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy X.

The idea of the open world is interesting, but they have broken the important rule of JRPGs. At the very beginning, the player can explore the whole world, can complete almost all sidequests and can train all the characters to the maximum level without progressing the story. For me, that's the worst thing in this game. JRPGs must have a semi-open world because in JRPGs the player was supposed to explore the world through the story: step by step the world should open to player to explore, to complete all sidequests and to train all the characters to the maximum level. That they have made this game as a semi-open world and that they put a CTB or ATB system, then this game would be perfect. But since they did not do so, then I gave a score 8 out of 10.

Conclusion: They have give more effort that this game have a excellent graphics and the mechanism of the open world, but they also should give the same effort to make excellent gameplay. In the end I can say that the game is good but they could do it even better. It's a good JRPG and I enjoyed playing it.

The gameplay is weird. You play as a skinny kid who does not know how to run and looks like an anime cartoon living in the real world. His main skill is throwing his sword and then teleporting to it. In an excruciating tutorial, you learn to teleport to enemies to attach and teleport to the ceiling for defense. You can also order your 3 friends to conduct a special attack every now and then. After a few hours, I learned the best tactic was to have my allies conduct their special attack when the giant bosses were starting their attack animations. Then the game became simple button mashing and grinding levels to make the boss fights easier.

The game world is inscrutable. The game in theory has an open world. What this really means is that there are large stretches of featureless, low texture terrain between cookie-cutter buildings. It also means roadblocks, cliff faces, and high walls to prevent the player from travelling out of the game area. Final Fantasy XV embraces the kind of open world we saw in the PS2 generation. There is little explanation of why people are fighting with swords in an age of guns and walking tanks. We also have no idea how people have cell phones and cars in a world that seems bereft of any kind of industry. There is mention of an asteroid that brought magic or whatever. After a 26 hour playthrough, I knew about as much as I did at the start of the game. The story is at least light on cutscenes for this type of game. There are few focused segments that tell the story through in-game dialogue and events. FYI, Square Enix, you can design a whole game where the story is told in-game.

I have the strong feeling that this game was supposed to have launched in the PS3 era. In addition to the low quality environments, some of the boss fights have subpar graphics. None of the areas feature many people, certainly nothing to level we've come to expect in the PS4 era. (Assassin's Creed Unity, which launched in 2014, had enormous crowds.) The gameplay is also severely limited for a game that has historically let players customize their parties. Development clearly went awry and the final product was not better for it. I have a strong feeling that the odd fighting system was implemented to help may the game few "new".

Total disclosure: I paid $2.50 for this game. Were I a fan of the series, I would have paid $60 to play on day one. Maybe because I am not a fan, my 26 hour playthrough was mostly confusing and off-putting. The gameplay was interesting enough to get me into the next fight but mostly in a grindy way that ensured the boss fight would be easier. (Though I do not like grinding, I find it preferable to dying and reloading.) I was also surprised to see little customization of the characters. This game is not so much an RPG as it is a fighting game with levels. I've played better fighting games with levels.

It may be unfair to judge this compared to it's predecessors, but I haven't cared less about a Final Fantasy game's story like I did for FFXV. I'm hoping DLC will change that, though it's disappointing to need DLC to feel a sense of completion with the story in a series such as this. I hope Square does not continue down the path and, instead, releases a full game next go around. For all the years in development, even though the game was probably scrapped and restarted from step one, I'm disappointed.

I really enjoyed the gameplay and side quests. If the main story was even half as good as I hoped it was going to be, then this would be a 9 or 10 for me. But the main story was so disjointed and full of holes that I felt virtually no sense of intrinsic reward/happiness/sadness/anything when it finally ended.

Just finished the game, and I have to say that I got exactly what I paid for. IMO, this is one of the best RPG's ever made, easy tie with FF7. My only real complaint with the game was the part where they attempted to add horror in the game, NO! The horror was really bad because they relied on the classic dark area with several jump scares. Final Fantasy games have always been divisive and I think this is going to be one of them. If in the past you played FF7 or 8 and just thought it was too boring or confusing to get into don't spend money on this game. It won't be for you. That being said dont write it off if you're interested. Watch Kingsglave before hand and then dive in. As long as you have a fair amount of previous interest going in to it you will get over that Boring Jrpg early game content. Case and point , I've clocked 4 hours and It's just starting to flesh out.

It is definitely the best thing this franchise has put out since ps2 though. I am loving it personally.

Perfect game for pot smokers. Go for a long drive . Smoke a sesh.

Hammerhead gasstation's country blues tune with the organ. It's lit bruh

I just can not understand why people are down voting this game. It's an awesome game, it's completely blowing my mind.
I spent until now, 20 hours and I'm in the third chapter yet! It's like I loved this game so much that I'm afraid that it gets to the end before I expect so I keep playing slowly.

Combat, graphics, history (this is a little confuse if you did not watch the movie before play), soundtrack, everything. Even the way you level up is perfect. In these 20 hours, I saw only one bug, Gladiolus turns invisible for a while and I just could see his sword but in fact, the game is so good that this bug made me laugh at the time.

DUNGEONS. Yes, this final fantasy has amazing dungeons to explore. One of the best parts of exploration.
The game also has side quests. Hunts, treasures, ingredients, weapon improvements, all kind of quest. I was not walking through the world doing nothing in these 20 hours in fact, I'm pretty busy right now!

So, fan of final fantasy or not, if you like RPG, buy it. I have to play more to have a definitive opinion although a game that made happy for 20 hours, knowing that it's just the beginning, already convinced me that it's worth it.

The score 8-8.5 is pretty much on point.

Story: 8. Interesting characters. The main party work well together (if a little hokey at times) but very entertaining and pretty much carry the story. The over all plot is a bit rushed and lacking context around characters if you haven't seen the supplemental material. I'm a believer that the game should be enough to tell the story. The pacing

Interesting characters. The main party work well together (if a little hokey at times) but very entertaining and pretty much carry the story. The over all plot is a bit rushed and lacking context around characters if you haven't seen the supplemental material. I'm a believer that the game should be enough to tell the story. The pacing is decent, but not awful. Also, treating the adventure like a modern day road trip was a very nice touch. That's exactly what it feels like. The only down fall is that the day and night cycle can be a burden when you're lower levels, but once you get past that, things become more fluid.

    Graphics: 10.
Clearly a lot of effort was put into this part, and it shows. Everything from characters to scenery is meticulous and beautiful. Just running around is a reward in itself and makes exploration worth the effort.

    Combat: 8.
A lot of work was put here as well. It's fluid and spectacular, but the execution falls short of the consistency needed to really stand out. Evasion and blocking need further refining as you'll find yourself hitting the buttons with more than enough time to spare and getting no reaction from Noctis, and, even so, evading should be more responsive in a game trying to go action based, especially with the cameral so close to Noctis during combat. Many an enemy will take you in the back from off screen, and a hit in the back does massive damage. Also the leveling seems off. You'll find yourself using tons of potions agains enemies at the same level or even lower. The combat is equal parts amazing and equal parts frustrating. I do think Square is on to something with this model though.

    Music:
9 The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is because some of the battle music, while epic, doesn't elicit the kind of urgency or epic-ness of past FFs. Still amazing and appropriate work though. (Music from the past FFs do not count.

Over all the game is worth the buy if you're an FF fan. If you're not, then you might want to wait as the combat is not as responsive or "fair" as it should be. Basically victory depends on either having sufficient stocks or being 20 lvls higher than your enemy and THEN the game might let you live. (Exaggerating, but there's a particle of truth.)

After so many years of development, Final Fantasy XV is not what I expected it to be. The universe is immense and beautiful and the characters are just fine. But the story is short and disappointing and the gameplay suffers from lack of depth. FFXV is a good game, but it can never bring the former glories back to the series.

Even as you reflect on the rarity of a blockbuster that's willing to take real risks, you'll be left with the uncomfortable realisation that ten years wasn't quite long enough, after all. Those jagged edges are, in the end, just a little too sharp. [Feb 2017, p.110]

Despite a divided feel, torn between what it was and what it plans to be, Final Fantasy XV has a lot to offer. If you're a diehard JRPG fan, then it's a positive sign that the series can cross over to a new format. And if you're just looking for an open world adventure, Final Fantasy XV certainly has that in spades, while doing just enough things differently to separate it from the likes of Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls.
