Finally after years waiting, behold in hand the long awaited game of the series Final Fantasy titled as XV and already thanking Equare Enix for the legend in Portuguese.

-Everything is very beautiful and neat in the game really something fascinating to come across during the Gameplays.
-The soundtracks are amazing as you would expect and it fits very well in every situation of the game.
    - Beautiful graphics (PS4), animations and effects are well developed and the summons appearances are also excellent.
-The story is good plus for those who did not watch "Kingsglaive" really will not understand much since the game quotes the events of the movie and this ends up being recommended before playing.
-The proposal of the mode of combat and exploration are great but a little limited in some situations and in the combat that there are not many spells and summons as usual, but it has that expansive quality as always.

    Summarizing everything- -Some Negatives
-Graphics- 9.0 -Low amounts of spells and summons in the game-
-SoundTracks- 9.5 -The beginning of the game is a little slow-
-History- 9.0 -The World Map is small without counting the Dungeons-
    -Gameplay- 8.9

    -My Final Note- 93/100- XD

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. HONEST, UNBIASED REVIEW FROM A LONG TIME FAN! I ADDRESS EVERYTHING FROM GAMEPLAY, PACING, COMPARISONS TO PREVIOUS TITLES AND A CRITIQUE ON THE FABULA NOVA SERIES. PLEASE READ! VERY SLIGHT SPOILERS, NOTHING MAJOR.

I will start with some general gripes about the Fabula Nova Cyrstallis nonsense as I feel that the issues with it are symptomatiic of the general problems with recent FF games.

We were led to believe that the game would have more realistic characters with real emotions and all that other good stuff. Now, I can't say that I care much about that stuff since this is, after all, a video game but I do like it when people deliver on promises.

What we have instead are complete character archetypes:

Noctis is your typical "must save the world" character who is virtually indistinguishable from Cloud and Squall in his demeanor. He is a pouty **** throughout the game. There is a sense of undecisiveness to him. Now, that's not necessarily bad but it isnt anything new in FF games with weak heroes.

Gladio is the loyal knight/defender character. Think Basch or Steiner but far less interesting a lot cornier.

Prompto is the comedic relief goofy character. Think Locke, Zidane, Tidus, Wakka but inferior to all of them by a vast margin.

Ignis is the overly serious thinker of the group. Every RPG has one of these. He is unoriginal in every way imaginable. He's a poor man's Balthier but probably the best of the four party characters.

We were told there would be more realistic stories yet the story of FFXV is basically a simple one of "save the princes and then the world from the evil empire" completely indistinguishable from the first half of FFIX, the first half of FFVI etc.

    NOW TO THE GAME!

The gameplay is very very simple but very very fun and addictive. It essentially is hold O until everything dies or hold SQUARE so you can defend. With the occasional press of the TRIANGLE button to warp strike someone. Magic is very unnecessary and a complete afterthought. I am probably 70 percent done with the game and have used three spells the entire game. I also have yet to die once, something that has never happened in an FF game this far into it (Characters around level 36 with minimal sidequesting).

The game does a GREAT job of showcasing Noctis' power to essentially summon weapons for use. Holding O allows Noctis to attack continuously and pressing the directional buttons allows for quick weapon switches mid combo. This is the first game ive played where this feels natural. Even in Devil May Cry or God Of War it feels silly.

The driving is stupid and the load times if you fast travel are considerable. The game is open world but there are very few cities to screw around in. Mostly, you will spend the game sleeping in caravans and campsites.

The sidequests: Virtually every sidequest is a fetch quest or a hunt which works like a fetch quest. It is go from point A to point B, possibly kill something, get an item and come back to point A. The sidequests are uninteresting and the rewards are small. You can get money by selling your loot.

Difficulty of the game: This is the easiest RPG I have ever played. As mentioned before, I have not died once. It is virtually impossible to die. If you lose your entire HP, the character is wounded and loses max HP slowly. Once the max HP goes to zero, one more blow will kill the character. HOWEVER, your allies can bring you out of this state an infinite amount of times. Furthermore, even if they dont and you "die" you can Phoenix Down yourself back into the battle. Presumably this can be done as many times as there are phoenix downs in your inventory. When a battle seems tough, you are often saved by the abililty to summon an Esper (often it is Ramuh) that comes and kills every enemy.

I am quite into the game and the story has not developed more than "We must save the princess and our land." Literally nothing of value has happened. More happened in the first one hour of FFIX than has happened this entire game.

The expectations for a game in 8-10 years of development are very very high and this game falls short of most things. It is clear that this was meant to be a spinoff of FFXIII as it lacks the umph of a numbered FF game except for the even worse FFXIII.

I still give this game a solid 8/10 because of its addictive nature, fluid combat, decent and manipulable pacing in rest points, intuitive controls, scale, and originality compared to other FF games (which is something that cannot be understated considering all that FF has done the past main non-online games). Gameplay and pacing to me are the most important things in a game and this has GREAT gameplay and good pacing. I know that for many the story is what draws people in to FFXV. The story is one of the weakest in FF and one of the weakest in JRPGS. Still worth a buy if for nothing than to add to your collection.

Final Fantasy XV is an all-out masterpiece, without a doubt worthy of being ranked among the best entries in the series such as FFVI.

Final Fantasy XV is an all-out masterpiece, without a doubt worthy of being ranked among the best entries in the series such as FFVI.

This game excels in every department, with memorable characters, fun dodge-parry-punish based combat that retains that FF magic touch, AAA presentation, jaw-dropping visuals, a vast overworld, a robust soundtrack featuring many past FF favorite tunes, and, most importantly, a truly moving story that begins rather innocuously (and perhaps confusingly, to anyone who hasn't seen Kingsglaive and Brotherhood) but picks up speed like a junkie strapped to a roller coaster in the latter half with many surprising and gut-wrenching twists.

The world feels lived-in and believable and the range of the writing and evolving relationships between the main characters and NPCs only adds to the immersion. And the customizability of your vehicle, the Regalia, makes it a treat for car lovers.

Make no mistake, much of FFXV concerns 4 bros on a road trip through a gorgeous open-world, and certain hunts and side-quests feel like content for the sake of content, but the enemies, environments, weapons, and mini-games are all very well-designed. Like many open-world games, at times it's easy to get side-tracked. But a couple of glitches/camera issues/awkward dub moments aside, I can't fault the developers on a single major decision here.

The many refined aspects of FFXV all gel together to create an unforgettable experience that's much more than the sum of its parts. Even the fan-maligned Chapter 13 is a bold and welcome change of pace and tone, as well as a sly bit of meta-commentary.

The only issues I have are (A) the camera can sometimes get stuck behind large bushes or objects during combat. It doesn't happen that often but it can be annoying, (B) some of the side-quests and hunts are boring, and (C) the dub isn't perfect. Other than that, I really can't complain. When the story kicks in, the game hits like a sucker punch.

(Played 42 hours or so, did a bunch of side-quests, but I still have many hours to go if I'm to collect the remaining Royal Arms and tackle the post-game content.)

Easily 10/10. FFXV is the most fun I've had gaming all year and boasts one of the most moving final arcs in any JRPG.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not without its flaws... But ultimately the most fun, and emotional, Final Fantasy experience I have experienced... And the most fun I've had playing a game for years.

Myself and Final Fantasy have had a troubled relationship over the past decade. Ever since the PS1 era, I have felt they have never quite matched the quality I had known from the series. With FFX it was the awful voice acting (all I'll say is: HA-HA-HA). With FFXII it was the fact it didn't feel like Final Fantasy as much as Star Wars combined with Dungeons and Dragons (although being an amazing game with a brilliant cast in its own right). And Final Fantasy XIII felt like the ultimate minimal input, beautiful port of ProgressQuest... With convoluted, ultimately unrelatable story (but amazing mythos), forgettable stereotypes for characters and almost literally corridors with minimal exploration for 80% of the story.

So Final Fantasy XV landed with my patience pushed to the limits. Although XIII-2 and Lightning Returns were much better, they still lacked that feeling I had from the past. And I will start off saying this: If your heyday of Final Fantasy was back in the days of PS1, you will probably love this game as much as I did.

You are almost straight away plonked into the open world, which both encouraged and wowed me. The world of Eos (Final Fantasy XV's world) is a beautiful, beautiful place; For the first time it feels like they have been able to fully match the graphical quality of cut-scenes of FF8 and 9. Noctis and his retinue realise the huge difference between the modern Crown City and the 50s-style world we can actually explore. It reminds me of the disparity and rustic beauty of Cuba in comparison to the rest of the world.

So you travel through this beautiful world... A world you can get lost in (something missing from the series for a long time)... Sometimes pushing the story along, sometimes taking part in side quests... Broken up by camps each night, which act almost like the beating heart of the game; giving your characters the chance to level up and have one of Ignis' fabulous, status-boosting meals. They sometimes act as an opportunity to take part in optional side quests with one of your party (although sadly this happens less than the Episode Duscae demo made me think it would).

Things take a turn for the worst for our crew in the second half of the game, when tragedy hits nearly everyone. The game takes a much-criticised linear route from Chapter 9. A route which, personally, I absolutely loved. Even though you get the feeling it is (literally) a whistle-stop tour of the remaining assets they were able to complete for the game, it hits all the right narrative beats. You straight away feel the more sombre tone from the death of Luna and the loss of Ignis' sight, and our tour completes in the very Midgar-styled city of Gralea.

This is one of my favourite parts; Darin De Paul's brilliant portrayal of antagonist Ardyn makes up for probably the best villain of the entire series. He leads you condescendingly down the dark corridors and eventual horrors you learn in the city. "Bah, I knew you'd go that way" he says as you explore the room to your left instead of your goal in front of you. "You're such a tease".

Everything from the end of this chapter onwards is a beautifully directed feels train of reminiscence, nostalgia and regret, and almost a metaphor for a world 10 years on from the very first trailer for the then-titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII. I can personally say it made me very reflective. I remember having just left home and starting university when I first saw that trailer, thinking I knew everything about life. 10 years down the line, and the biggest lesson I've learned is I still barely know a thing about life... None of us do... We all just make it up as we go along.

Underscoring these moments is the beautiful soundtrack, and I wish to commend Yoko Shimomura on creating the best Final Fantasy score I have heard. It manages to evoke feelings of the old games without feeling like it is trying to copy Uematsu's style from them, something which I have felt the series has struggled with since his departure. There are around 6 main themes which run throughout the game, and these evolve for their respective characters/institutions as the game progresses. The best example of this is the epic Magna Insomnia; the final boss theme which also acts as a combination of Somnus and Ardyn's Theme. The chorus of Somnus teases throughout the song before being fully realised as you battle Ardyn above Insomnia's Citadel; and has a chilling choral conclusion as Ardyn finally shows his true rage in telling you "10 years is nothing... I have been in darkness for ages!".

The game isn't without its faults. But I have already spent 200+ hours on it... Every battle is a joy to play, feeling more interactive and fun than FFXIII.. Making it take much longer to complete quests than you would think. Worth every penny

Personally I don't play a game again if I am not hooked after about 3 hours of gameplay. That being said. Im HOOKED.

I am a long time fan of the FF series. My favorite being VII. I am a big fan of the older system being turn-based combat, and being in full control of every character. I currently still replay X ever since the PS4 remake came out. But this system feels fresh and even though the camera has trouble keeping up The combat feels fluid. To make this easier to read I am going to split this into sections below.

Combat: 10/10 Everything is real time, unless you decide to use wait mode, which I tried using and it definitely brings back the feel of a turn-based action game. But I preferred this with wait mode off. The game was made for the live fast paced action. Hordes of creatures, or sometimes just one big daemon swinging at you or charging you while you dodge and phase through the attacks. During the tutorial I was quickly reminded of batman games of how you hit square to counter and what not but I was mistaken once I got into real combat. Its different. New. You have to hold square, time circle perfectly to get a better attack, the links with your friends are well rewarded with great damage. This game rewards you by using its mechanics and not just going hack-slash. Which I will admit was me during my first couple monster hunts. Playing strategic using your ability to shoot over to a high standing cliff or wherever is much needed and very useful in planning blindside attacks etc. All that being said I think the combat is stellar and very refreshing.

Open-World: 8/10 I would give this world a 10/10 quick if the driving was a lot more involved. You are stuck to the road, and can't drive very fast. This to me is the biggest downfall to the open world. You are forced to run or chip out cash to get a chocobo. (which if you do, is a very fun experience. I love chocobos one of my favorite things about FF) But we have upgrades available for the car, and its just a shame it has to be stuck on the road. But the world is beautiful. There are treasures, and dungeons that can be found throughout the world and all together the world seems very involved. Crouching and staying hidden does come in handy because most of the creatures seem to notice you very quickly if you are just running.

Monsters/Creatures/Bosses: 10/10 The bosses make this game. The fights are intense, and really require your attention to every detail from your MP to your friends health etc. The design is amazing, and so detailed. Every species is unique even the ones who are similar to one another. Fighting styles are different, It definitely feels as though they created ever species separately from the ground up and didn't just remap another skin on top of an already existing move set. Fighting against different species is even better. Fighting 10 enemies out of 3 different species is a challenge. and requires you to analyze and understand each of their abilities and how to avoid them/get the better of them.

Gear/Leveling: 9/10 I actually like the new pace of leveling. You gain experience like normal, but you have to rest in order to actually use the exp to level up. This is a very new way of making the player use what is available to them. A lot of times players get comfortable and say ima just do it my way, but this game forces you (to an extent) to do it their way. This enables you to get the whole story, and even comes to your benefit with food, exp boosts, etc. It definitely rewards you for doing the "extra" stuff some people would find useless. The gear and leveling is easy to understand. The only thing negative I have would be that you can sell what you have equipped, so be careful. Using your AP points can be confusing at first but don't be overwhelmed with your options, you get plenty of AP and will be able to get everything you want out of it.

Overall: 9/10 Overall this game is refreshing. The story is great and the character designs draw me in. There are old nostalgia moments from past FF games, and new memories that will have you thinking of this game forever. I definitely recommending watching the Brotherhood Anime, then the Kingsglaive movie, then playing the game. If you haven't the games story might seem a bit narrow so to speak. But with the movie and anime involved the story is one to be remembered. Again this is a review based off early gameplay, and I will be giving another once I complete the story and get to know the End-Game content.

P.S. Ignore the bad reviews. This game deserves nothing lower than a 7 and thats iffy. Most bad reviews are from old fans of the series like me but that don't wanna accept the change. This is a FF game, but for todays time. It feels more and more like FF the longer I play.

Many of dungeons are well designed, so it offers interesting stuffs to enjoy after finishing main story.

Ok, enough second person talk. Let me be blunt here for second. Final Fantasy is still a great game--the vast open world and the surprisingly good (non turn-based) combat system are very well executed. Sadly, I cannot say the same for the story, which is dampened by plot holes, lack of expositions and missed opportunities. Speaking of missed opportunities, it can be traced back to poor characterization, which also adds to the story's plot holes and poor execution.

It's still a solid entry to the series, but its numerous failings in aspects where a Final Fantasy is expected to excel makes it a game that longs for greatness yet under-delivers.

That said, if you value open-world exploration and undertaking sidequests, by all means get this game. Just don't expect a masterfully crafted tale, because there's little to speak of in this game.

Final Fantasy XV is a great game and an unforgettable experience, but it's let down a bit by some poor design choices and a lack of development time.

Final Fantasy XV features a simple yet understandable story, seemingly lacking compared to epics such as past Final Fantasy games, but is presented as a massive road trip, which leaves a lasting impression to the player. You traverse the game's world with Prince Noctis and his friends Gladiolus (bodyguard), Ignis (butler, driver, cook) and Prompto (photographer) riding the Regalia, the King's personal luxury car. Along the way comical relief Prompto takes photos of the whole band in various circumstances, which can be seen at the end of the day and saved in a photo album if the player wants to. The boys have to rest at night so they can cash-in their earned XP, and they can rest either at hotels/motels (with bonus XP) or camp out in the wild (where you cook food and get buffs). The combat system is simple and the action is real-time, not turn-based like other JRPGs. The soundtrack is truly epic and regal, matching the game's themes. The story is simple. Young Prince Noctis has lost his father King Regis from enemy assassination and his Kingdom of Lucis has been invaded by the evil empire of Niflheim, so Noctis has to take it back and save the world from the beasts ravaging it.

The game is primarily set in an open world in the Kingdom of Lucis with beautiful and varied terrain, but initially there is not much of story backdrop or story progression, which is a strange choice because the average player won't care about the game as much. In the open world you can perform a few story missions, many side quests or many more beast hunts. Later on the game becomes more linear and is set in other regions to drive the plot to its conclusion, and the player is given the ability to go back and forth between the open world and the other regions. After the story ends there is post-game content, comprising of more side quests and high level beast hunts. There is also a New Game Plus mode, too.

At this point I have to warn players that unfortunately Final Fantasy XV feels somewhat incomplete and rushed, because the story is minimal, some important characters are killed off-screen with no explanation, many unanswered questions remain, while some of the later regions are over too soon. The true enemy of Noctis is not the one we all initially thought, a surprising twist I didn't see coming, but still it was underwhelming. If you want to learn more of the Final Fantasy XV backstory you 'd better watch the Kingsglaive movie and the Brotherhood anime mini-series on Youtube. Thankfully the developers have added some scenes from the Kingsglaive movie via free DLC to flesh out the story. Game producer Hajime Tabata has promised to keep updating the game for many more months with free and paid DLC, but I doubt the team are going to do anything major as rewriting the story.

All in all, Final Fantasy XV is a rushed game that should have been terrific, and needed more development time in order to address its problems. It still is a great experience, though. I wholeheartedly enjoyed the game as it is, and I think any RPG fan should play this game.

Final Fantasy is a franchise that constantly reinvents itself with every iteration. Final Fantasy is a franchise that constantly reinvents itself with every iteration. From it's roots in basic turn-based fights with a typical story about crystals and medieval knights, to a game that is the culmination of 10 years in on and off development. This is the game that was pushed to be the franchise's epic revival, and it mostly is.

Combat: Certainly the most drastic change to the series is the brand new action combat system. Reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts you attack with different weapons you can equip, command your allies to perform special moves, you warp around the battlefield to either escape or close the distance to an enemy with a powerful strike. Button prompts for blocking pop up and often lead into a counterattack. The button prompts for warping to a point and blocking require you hold down the button rather than simply press it which the game doesn't tell you. Everything runs quite nicely and is generally pretty fun, if a bit simplistic. You are encouraged to use strategy, but it's no Dark Souls in terms of skill required, and the combos aren't complex like a straight-up action game. However the flow of combat works beautifully and is unique enough to be enjoyable for 40+ hours. Grade: B+

Graphics: Easily the game's strongest point, everything absolutely gorgeous in it's art direction, lighting, models, and textures. I'm not extremely well-versed in all the graphics lingo for games, but it's obvious that so much time went into making this game look amazing. To top it off, the scale of the world is absolutely huge and is consistent in it's level of detail. Cities are particularly gorgeous to look at as there are so many small details that add so much to atmosphere. The only tiny criticism is that while the hair is some the best looking in a game, it sometimes just looks odd due to looking just slightly not as real. It's a minor gripe, and it's actually a good problem to have. Grade: A+

Story: So here's where things get a little bit dicey, the overall concept and world of Eos is very intriguing and I wanted to know much more about the world's lore, but it feels a bit rushed and incomplete at times. I actually like Kingsglaive, but the fact that so much important information is in the movie and not included in the game was frustrating. If I had not seen all the trailers for the game and the movie I would have not known who Luna even was or what she was doing for a good long while. The story starts off light and well-paced in the beginning until it dumps you with a ton of lore and plot all at once. I was intrigued by the world that was built, but th way that the story was told didn't really work or make a lot of sense. On the brighter side we have a main cast who is so incredibly likeable in their own way, even if the lean ever so slightly too much on cliché. The banter and relationship of th four character is what really shines here, the banter and dialogue between each of them is so well done and they all seem like real friends rather than characters forced to be together. I wouldn't go far as to say they are amazing characters individually, but as a unit they make up one of the best casts in Final Fantasy. Grade: B-

Open-World: Another big change to series is the fully open world nature of the game. The beautifully detailed world is full of places to explore, side content, and treasure to find. It does all this without feeling overwhelming, you are slowly but surely eased into the entire world and are given quests that guide you to go out and have a reason to discover new areas. A big addition is the car you're given access to in order to travel around in. While those who love to drive around freely alá GTA, may be disappointed that the car is on rails, I slowly learned to love letting the car take me on it's own. Some criticize the fact that sometimes you'll be given long stretches where you just have to watch your car drive for several minutes with no input from you at all, aside from panning the camera to look at the scenery. It might be a frustration at first, but in the end it's for the best gameplay-wise and I soon learned to enjoy it. Grade: B+

Overall this is an easy recommendation for Final Fantasy fans, and newcomers who are willing to look past some minor quirks in design.

I don't think a game has ever left me feeling as conflicted as this one has. The story is the biggest problem with the game. It's far too fast paced and never slows down. The story is the biggest problem with the game. It's far too fast paced and never slows down. The game just felt like it wanted to end as soon as possible. Unfortunately this also leads to problems with the characters. The main 4 are fine and are quite possibly some of my favorite in the franchise. The side characters however are hardly there. Even characters like Luna and Cor, two heavily advertised characters are hardly there. It doesn't give us any time to get attached or to even get to know anyone outside of the main 4. The Altissia segment i think highlights all of this the best. You do 2 short quests, meat 2 new characters that you never see again and you're done. This being said not everything about it was bad. I think if it was just better paced and told it would have been absolutely fantastic. As i said the main 4 are great, there's a very real sense of comradery between them that i've never seen in a final fantasy or even most games before. Throughout the story i found myself caring about these 4 more and more which did surprise me considering the stories issues. The ending was also pretty damn great even making me tear up a bit.

Gameplay is where i think the game shines. While it does have the problems that a lot if not all open world games suffer from. The combat was so fun that i never really found myself minding at all. The combat is probably the most fun i've had in a final fantasy game. If you like kingdom hearts chances are you'll love the combat. The leveling system i think is pretty damn unique i can't say for sure if i'd like it to be a thing in all FF's but i can say that if they make a XV-2 i hope they stick with it. There was also some things i wasn't really expecting like the AP or the variety of weapons. The skills were also a very nice touch. Each one of the main 4 has a skill that they can use that skill being that characters hobby, Noctis likes to fish, Prompto takes pictures, Gladio is an outdoorsman and Ignis likes to cook. Some are more useful than others ignis probably being the most useful. The fishing mini-game is pretty nice, probably the most realistic fishing in a game that's not a fishing sim. Food buffs are also a very nice touch to the game and something i hope is carried on in future titles. The chocobo riding is pretty great too allowing for an alternate form of travel as well as a pretty fun mini-game. The gameplay's not perfect though i think the magic system should have been expanded further and summoning shouldn't be as powerful or random as it is. Riding around in the car can be a bit mundane though personally i liked it. As i said before it does suffer from problems the open world genre as a whole has. There's also everything after the open world segment. Now everything after the open world part of the game is honestly not very long and a lot of people have problems with it. Me personally i didn't mind it. It wasn't great but i think i'd have more of a problem with it had it lasted longer.

    Misc praises and criticisms:
The games music is absolutely fantastic
    The game looks fantastic
I really liked some of the side quest characters
I wish there was more unique towns in the game.
This is one of the few games to actually do night correctly.
There should have been more to Altissa and the last parts of the game.

I've put almost 90 hours into the game so far and while the game does very much have story problems I enjoyed the bulk of the gameplay. FFXV isn't perfect but i can say i look forward to whatever Squenix decides to do next and i just hope they do a better job of telling those stories.

The first half of the story is quite slow and focuses on finding the Royal arms and the Astrals to make Noctis stronger, the second is linear and focuses on recovering the cristal, being the last chapter IMO the best interting of all and the ending quite impresive and spectacular.

-Characters: 4 main characters. Noctis, Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto, being Noctis the prince of Lucis and the key character.
The rest of the caracters, even the important ones with the exception of Ardyn, are badly developed. Luna has no enough strenght and her story in poor, as well as most of the Niflheim.

    - Combat: easy, fun and very visual. The tag actions give meaning to having a group of friends.

    - Weaponry: a wide variety but not excesive. Unfortunately having only 4 weapons active on the battles limits the flowing on using all your warfare, the Royal Arms are unuseful on combat, except Arminger, and the camera can be improved.

    - Openworld: Beauty but empty, the side quest are repetitive and only gives supplies and XP, huntings are right but only a source for earning money.

    - Enemies: great designed, good variety, the big ones are really impresive.

    - Soundtrack: Magnificent soundtrack by Yoko Shimomura, one of the greatest.

    - Endgame: A bit repetitive, high level enemies are good but the reward are only better items. The dungeons are all similar and take a long time to complete, the rewards a good but not excellent.

Moreover, the transition from open-world to linearity, by the end of the game, is slightly disappointing as (following from chapter 8) many areas that could've been opened up to free exploration, were relegated to a 'corridor-esque' experience (especially chapter 13, a significant low point during the course of the plot). A few other negatives would include: the majority of sidequests being bland, uninteresting, and uninspired fetchquests; the villain (although intriguing and enigmatic-if somewhat obvious-at first) being made a typical, maniacal bad-guy; and issue of the camera being hard to negotiate whilst in combat (especially in tight spaces, such as dungeons).
Moving on from the negatives, FFXV boasts great dungeon design (for the most part), beautiful visuals and stunning vistas, very human interactions between the main characters (in spite of their archetypal natures and average voice acting, they develop into very likeable characters), fun and engaging combat and levelling systems, and ultimately a satisfactory ending despite it all.
In conclusion, FFXV holds up to be a fundamentally good and fun game in spite of its tumultuous development cycle and its most glaring flaws. I can recommend this game to anyone who has a passion for RPGs in general, as I was drawn in by its core gameplay, charm and music alone having only played one JRPG in my life and having otherwise coming away from its story a little disgruntled.

The main story is short for a open world game, the story is too simple, too serious sometimes, and some parts are annoying and majority of the characters are unlikable or not even memorable except the main antagonist (wont spoil) and the leading lady which are for me the best characters in the game, they are even better than the boyband protagonist. As summary for the story, Noctis the prince of Lucis on the day the start of the game will have a wedding ceremony with Lunafreya, A former princess of Tenebrae and an oracle for a peace treaty between Lucis and Nifleheim. However, While Journeying to the place of the wedding, the group learned on the way that the empire of Nifleheim have betrayed Lucis and stole its crystal, in addition, King Regis (Father of Noct), Lunafreya and Noctis himself has been announced dead following the betrayal. It is now Noctis and his friends mission to take back Lucis from his enemies and also recover ancient artifacts which he can use against Nifleheim. The story then includes some complications and shows secrets in between. The side quests really doesnt help either since most are just fetching quests which are repetitive nowadays in open world games. Still though, I love the interaction of the main characters in game though. A score of 7/10.

Gameplay - The game borrowed the gameplay mechanics of another big Square enix title Kingdom Hearts. It is simple, action packed and nice for an RPG game. It is satisfying. Another good addition on the game is the things you can do in the world, fishing, riding cars, getting selfies and many other things that makes the world alive and fun. However, the cons of the game is you can only control Noctis in game. You cant use other characters, in addition, the spell mechanic of this game is bad. so bad that i wont recommend you doing a magic build. Another thing to note is that shops are almost unusable since the only thing you can buy from them are weapons and a few items. A score of 8/10 will suffice.

Graphics - Since the coming of PS3, gone are the days that Square Enix titles are the forefront of advanced graphics and beautiful scenery and environment. However, I can tell you that this game is BEAUTIFUL. The environment are gorgeous. The thing i really love from this game is the design of the monsters especially those large ones which are gargantuan in size. It is even better than the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 in terms of World and monster designs. So pretty, a score of 10/10

Music and sound - Im neutral on this one. This game really highlighted retro music of past FF games. It is good for me and fun, however, due to this, the game didnt put much new music for the ears to listen too. If you are a gamer of past FF games. You will be familiar with majority of the games soundtrack. As to voice acting, the english version sucks. They are literally out of place, everyone is made like an FF character design and identical if you take away the bad haircuts or ridiculous and faces then suddenly you have one who speaks british accent, mexican accent, etc. I prefer gamers to use the japanese version. A score of 7/10.

    Overall average = 8

Finally, We're all here playing this game which spent 10 years to make. It is satisfying, fun and as a gamer of previous FF games. It is both a familiar and new experience for me. Is it good? OF COURSE IT IS. but is it better and revolutionary compared to some previous FF Games? OF COURSE NO. But regardless, this is still a must buy for those FF enthusiast out there. Congrats to Square Enix for putting their best to finally finish this game. Thanks

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. [Gameplay Spoilers here]

I will address how this game stands up to the three generations of Final Fantasy games and how those who played them will view this game.

    1):The Silver Era: FF1-FFV (excluding FF4)
This era was all about grinding and optimizing characters to make dungeons go faster or more successfully. Plot was a nice but largely optional feature as the gameplay took center stage. The addiction of that RPG optimization where you'd find if some enemies were weak against stop, or slow, or fire, then master that dungeon's encounters and blast through it was what players sought. FF15 will not resemble a final fantasy at all to you. That ability to implement strategies or outsmart the encounters is totally gone and replaced with spells that function more like action game abilities than anything else. Fire, Ice and Thunder are the same spells, just with different enemies and places where they are useful. The other three spells are mostly useless. FF15 is an action game and you will find no connection to what you knew and loved. I survived not equipping a single weapon outside of the starting equipment and I beat the game. You love for this game will depend on whether you enjoy flashy, epic action games. Regardless, to you Final Fantasy will feel like it died with this game.

    2): The Golden Era (FF4, FF6-9)
This era of FF games is similar to the "silver era" in every way except in addition the plot, story telling mechanics and the characters are quite well developed in comparison. Final Fantasy stories became very grandiose and even weird in this era. This is an era where the turn based RPG elements are at their best and the plots and situations are have so many parts in them that you could not reproduce them in modern videogames. The cost and time it would take to make it modern would be unrealistic. For example, FF6 was a game with 14 character, all of which were mostly one dimensional, but unique and had their own stories, backgrounds and situations in the plot. FF4 takes you to the moon, under the earth, mideval castles, dungeons, caves, advanced spaceships and technologically advanced towers. People of this era will feel unfulfilled by the lack of content in FF15. The scenes and settings are not as numerous as you'd be used to. The characters are not as varied (while admittedly much deeper), and the items and skills you collect don't really mean much for the gameplay. While the plots were more simple in this era, they made sense and were not overly abstract. Fans of this era will enjoy FF15 more than FF12,13 and "maybe" 10, as the plot is fairly simple and very weird! FF15 took huge risks with the story and characters and ended up returning, in some way, to the adventurous and unique story telling of this era. The gameplay of FF15 is mostly simple action mechanics, which will suck for you. You are playing this game to finish the quests and see the story, not to develop your characters. However you will feel that final fantasy familiarity with the plot and situations. This game feels like a Final Fantasy. To you, Final Fantasy is not dead yet, but it will never really be the same again.

    3): Modern Era (FF10, 12, 13)
This era was all about movie like story telling, with high resolution situations, emotions, acting, characters and just plain details. These were basically a movie 5 times as long as what you'd find in a theatre, with a game attached to them. The gameplay in this era spanned from very traditional (FF10), to simplified (FF12) to even more simplified (FF13). With the exception of 10, the gameplay was dumbed down to carry the story. Fans of this era will be used to highly abstract and overly complicated stories that sometimes make no sense. You will feel at home with the simplified gameplay of FF15, and will appreciate the modern gameplay elements like collecting quests, items, having dialogue options, etc. However you will find this a very weird game and might be put off by it. The plot takes a lot of risks you wouldn't be used to if you didn't play FF4-FF9. You will also not appreciate the setting or the art as much as this game really tries to keep the world mundane. To you Final Fantasy is pretty and artful, and this game is pretty more in graphics and less than what those graphics are trying to represent visually. I think you will be put a bit off with the plot.

I would have given this game an 7 for how it impressed me (the graphics, feeling, music, fight scenes, etc). However, I give it an 8 because I really like how they took risks that high budget, modern games would never be allowed to take. I identify with the silver and golden era more, so I appreciate the weird and simple plot. This game has a survival horror part to it, defeat, depressing and dark themes as well as decent stealth scenes. It is not a bad game at all, but I feel it fails to be a masterpiece. To me, this is an action game that takes place in the world of FF, with Witcher 3 gameplay sort of emulated in.

But I do like the combat system very simple and intuitive but problems come when you need to block and the camera feels like showing you a bush rather than the threat coming in to rip off your crown jewels. But besides this very enjoyable only major complaints are side quests can get very repetitive and to the point of mind numbing and some loading screens taking ages also the frequency of them. But even after I got bored of the side quests half way through I enjoyed the main quest enjoyable and interesting enough to play to story end after story completion and about a third of side quests completed clocked up about 40 hours.

The good- I enjoyed the characters and a battle system where I don't just press auto to win
The bad- Whats killing me? Oh the giant bee I could not see as the camera has suddenly decided it's a peeping tom that wants to watch you from behind a hedge.
The ugly- The loading screens. Oh dam it wake up the game is starting. And those really short chapters like those books for stupid people "I read 5 chapters today" And they only read 5 pages
Final Verdict: 8/10 Dam good game
Despite my criticism I did enjoy my time with the game and will probably return mid 2017 to polish off the dlc if it interests me.

    Pros:
+ Amazing soundtrack, with tons of previous FF music available as you progress, with the mp3 key item you can listen to music from previous Final Fantasy games while you run around the over world. Thematically, it is incredible.

+ Gorgeous visuals, I played on lite mode on a PS4 Pro and it looks really good with mostly decent fps. It stutters a bit but it's not going to hurt the experience that much. I usually game at 60fps on my pc and didn't have much of an issue.

+ Fun albeit somewhat boring at times combat. It's action packed and not like FF13 which I like, but it does sort of boil down to holding down O or Square while pushing a direction on the Left stick. I never got too bored of it, but by 40 hours in, I was hoping for a bit more variety.

+ Fun overworld with plenty to do. The sidequests are good, not great much of the time, and compared to the Witcher 3, leave a bit to be desired. However the rewards and variety are enough to keep it fun for quite some time.

+ The relationship between the four protagonists. At first, I felt a bit luke warm toward the characters, but as the story went on, it was awesome seeing them all interact. It feels like you're along on the journey with them, and while the story telling isn't always perfect, the relationship between the four is mostly enjoyable and fun.

    Cons

+ The story isn't terrible, in fact I enjoyed it quite a bit more of the time than not, but there are some missing pieces that make following it difficult. I love Final Fantasy games, so esoteric, difficult to understand stories are something I don't mind, but without watching outside content or reading up on the lore outside of the game is required for a fuller understanding, and that's a shame because while I may be willing to do a bit of that, most people would prefer that to be all "in house" and I can't blame them.

+ Glitches. They're not super frequent but they appear every now and then, and sometimes require you to save and reload to fix them. For a game of this size and scope, they're forgivable but they do exist.

Final Thoughts: I think this is a solid game if you have, or haven't played a final fantasy game. At the time of writing this, the developers claim to be releasing some free dlc as well as paid, and the free dlc is supposed to address some of the story telling issues, though it may be too little too late for those of us who have already purchased it and played through it. If you like rpgs, and the FF series, I would say this game is absolutely worth the full price of $60 if you can't find a sale, especially if the free dlc does even just a little bit more in terms of making the game better.

You can update your abilities as you progress and need to think with certain enemies how to beat them. It is not button mashing but tweaking abilities. I really liked the world and traveling around. Now for the bad... There are ridiculous amounts of times you get caught up by an inch high cliff and the surrounding where you cannot get through something or you cannot see something. The other issue is how SLOW you drive. I mean you have a car that looks like a Bugatti that is almost a character in and of itself and yet it goes 55 everywhere? Lame. That and a lot of 'loading....' were a reason I did not like this game enough to dock it two grades. It seemed well worth the weight in depth, what you could do, exploration, difficulty keeping you entertained. But the loading and bad getting stuck was lame at times. But maybe on the PC it loads faster, on the PS4 it was slow at times. Near playing 30 plus hours on it I was starting to be like: "Come on load!" when doing fast traveling. Overall the game is worth playing and the good story, good characters and actual fun of fighting enemies makes it feel like a return to form. I would not rate it as high as FF7, FF8, FF6, or FF12 but it definitely is light years better than FF13 and I would say it is in the middle of the pack overall of FF games for fun. Expand

For starters this game has among the best graphics and breathtaking landscapes I have ever seen, alongside The Witcher 3. The special effects in combat also work extremely well and don't seem to cause any major fps drops (atleast with PS4). The combat system of this game is also one of the most addicting ones I have witnessed, it starts out slowly and adds up to be quite diverse with link strikes, short term god mode, spells, summons and a wide variety of weapons to choose from. The only disadvantages I found in combat are the camera which can sometimes be annoying and the fact that the flow of combat must often be interrupted (changing gear through menus mid-combat, changing from Active to Wait mode in combat etc.).

Now for the story elements. The main story itself is quite engaging but the best part are your travelling companions who are truly the backbone of this game. Roaming the world with them really feels like a trip with your friends (with some touching insight into their psyche sometimes involved -I'm looking at you Prompto) and ultimately ends up absolving this game of its vices. The biggest problem with the game however are the side-quests.

They are completely uninspired and completely disconnected from the game's events. Some really tragic stuff is going down in the main line and you are running around catching frogs. In addition, the quests are extremely repetitive (find gem, bring gem, get another quest to bring another gem) and the rewards are somewhat mediocre themselves, so you will mostly run around doing repetitive and boring side quests to accumulate experience. One partial solution around this would have been if they had adjusted the main storyline a bit beforehand to offer some purpose to the future king running around playing everyone's doormat (Like they did with the soul-saving mechanism in Lightning Returns)

Overall, if you can overlook the issue with the side quests (seriously, who thought of them?), this game is totally worth diving into and will reward you with some memorable moments.

Final Fantasy XV plays out in an action based combat, but unlike games like Devil May Cry, God of War and etc. the game goes for a more realistic way of combat, which means your attacks feels heavy and sometimes stagger you so you can't just dodge mid-attack, something I personally like. There are a decent amount of weapons, outside the normal weapons, called Royal Arms, that have their own unique way of attacking, 13 in total, then there are Short Swords, Lances, Daggers, Great Swords, Guns, Mechanics, Shields and Magic, Notcis, the main protoganist, and the one YOU control, can use EVERY weapon. All of your party members can use magic, but Ignis can also use Daggers and Lances, Gladio can use Great Swords and Shields, while Prompto can use Gun and Mechanics.
The story is that Noctis needs to marry Lunefreya, but on his way to picking her up, he finds trouble, it's your job to fix it.
The story is decent, at best, but the post game content and side content in general really shines through, and it's the games strong point. Also with the graphics, you drive through a beautiful world, filled with many secrets to uncover. Are you ready to step into the world of Eos, and take back your throne?

I didn't update the game because I have limited GB in my home so I found some problems that probably are fixed such: lag two times in a battle vs one boss, the face of one person in a city had two different heads and at the end of the game again with a boss I jumped and suddenly everything was dark while the battle kept going so I had tot restart the game. But again, I guess this is already fixed. Sometimes it can be boring driving the car or just watching the car moving without anything to do. So you feel you are wasting your time although sometimes you can skip this if you go directly to parkings but there are only a few and they're in the middle of nowhere. The map looks awkwardly outdated. A part from this you start with many sidequests that are really not interesting but you can do a few to earn experience, objects and money, but dont' get obssesed with this and follow the main missions because the driving thing is tedious. Gameplay is ok you only need to move, dodge, and attack although I felt like pressing buttons with not knowing much what I was doing except for one technique. I finished the game in 31 and a half hours so it's quite short for being a ff but I didn't mind. Which I really missed was more scenes or things to help you follow the story. Expand

The brilliant narrative deliberately chooses to focus on the protagonist's point of view, drowning the player with empathy, while leaving the big political events out of focus, on the background. Final Fantasy XV also plays like a charm: its fast paced full action combat makes for an extremely fluid and satisfying experience, while the quality of the animations makes every little movement in the gorgeous open world feel just as fulfilling.
If you'll let Final Fantasy XV tell it's story, if you'll go with the pacing without planting your feet in it and demanding something else, if you won't pretend to know more about storytelling than the game's writers did, I guarantee you'll discover a game of rare beauty, a game packed with fun, a game that will leave its mark, full of great moments that you will remember forever.
It had some issues when it launched, meaningful (meaning they served the narrative) but unsatisfying holes in the plot, but they have since been fixed, beautifully fixed, so there's nothing preventing me from giving Final Fantasy XV a full score anymore.
Final Fantasy XV isn't perfect, there's no such game, but it brilliantly achieves to be a wonderful game, and an excellent ground to build the future installments of this everlasting franchise on.

I rarely see a game that is good in so many things and yet fails in so many other things. In the end I had a lot of addicting fun yet I seriously need to complain about some things.

    Graphics 8/10:
They overused post processing effects and eeverything looks a bit too blurry, even on PS4 pro. The lighting and character models look great as do some water effects. The scenery looks nice sometimes and sometimes too bland.

    Sound 10/10:
The only thing this game does not disappoint a single bit: the music. One of the best OST of this decade of any game.

    Fighting system 8/10:
Well, I was sceptical at first, but it the melee feels right. I had a lot of fun bashing Monsters. One subtraction for the **** up use of Esper and one point subtraction for the use of magic. Nice idea, yet totally ****

    Story 6/10:
Having consumed brotherhood and the Kingsglaive beforehand I think the story is OK in general but the narration is sparse and it sucks in comparison to almost all older FF.

    Characters 8/10:
I am only giving them an 8 because I liked them. The charactes are poorly narrrated but they feel alive somehow. The main villain is quite boring. The emo look feels out of place even inside the game world.

    World 7/10:
The Open World is quite enjoyable yet it is still so damn restricted that it is hilarious. The whole car stuff is and it's controls are barely bearable. The Chocobo makes good of that though. The second part of the game where it get's linear is mediocre at best. And chapter 13 is the worst of any FF game.
So let's say spend 40 hours until you go on that ship and you will enjoy this game. Afterwards...

    Post game content 8/10:
You can have some neat stuff there. Yet some of the new dungeons are qite "mad" or bad. Going 4 hours downstairs ... well what a fun.

If you are a Final Fantasy veteran like myself you really have to create an open state of mind for this one to be able to enjoy it. I did and I enjoyed the game until you take the ship to the more linear experience. Then until the post game content I was in constant disappointment.

I hope they take their time to redevelop FF 7 remake away from this style.
So many bad decisions square enix. Your were lucky it is partly fun.

Most of the people think the story is BAD or "THE WORST FINAL FANTASY GAME EVER". but for me its epic. you will never see the game with story like this. okay it really short, but the content of the story is good. the battle system are like Kingdom Hearts; you can attack with weapon, you can transform to wield more than one weapon, your friends can help you in battle and you can interact with your friends in battle.

The grinding system is good. you can challenge yourself with many monster that can be find in side quest. or you can just randomly fight monster when you explore the world of final fantasy xv.
my favorite thing about Final Fantasy XV is about the friendship, the bond between main char and the side kicks cant be found in any Final Fantasy game (i think). Its just like you can play with your friend even though you play it alone.

I finish my FF XV game in 58 hours. that is include doing some quest (almost 70% done) and doing some random exploration. my second attempt i got only 30 hours that i focus only on doing the main story line.

Final Fantasy XV Review: A ballad of the past and future.

A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers: Developer SquareEnix , boldly declares as you begin your journey into the fifteenth iteration of the legendary JRPG series. In the past decade rpg’s like Fallout, the Mass Effect trilogy and the Witcher series have undergone a quantum leap in open-world exploration and gameplay, while the aging Final Fantasy series has been sharply criticized for forgoing such advances in favor of staying true to series traditions, but with Final Fantasy XV, SquareEnix is endeavoring to breath new life into the aging juggernaut by introducing a massive open-world to explore and a new action-based combat system. While SquareEnix is largely successful in reinvigorating the franchise with more modern gameplay mechanics, they, unfortunately, stumble when it comes to delivering the exhilarating narratives the series has become known for.

By far Final Fantasy XV’s most dramatic departure from tradition is found in its vast and vivid open world of Lucis. While older Final Fantasy’s, like VI & VII, have had semi-open worlds the amount of said world to explore was always limited by story progression. Final Fantasy XV shrugs this tradition by granting the player complete freedom to explore, complete side quest, and progress story content at their leisure. The world is mainly comprised of two environments, one more desert oriented and the other more reminiscent of a wooded forest dotted with rivers, lakes, and marsh lands. Spread throughout the world are numerous outpost and small towns where your party can gain valuable intel on the surrounding area, join hunts to track down dangerous daemons and enjoy status buffing meals from diners and local tipsters. Towns also provide you with an opportunity to stock up on valuable items like potions and elixirs from stores and take advantage experience boost by staying at hotels and caravans. You will need to take full of advantage of these resources as you explore the Kingdom of Lucis, as the world is filled with numerous and dangerous demons waiting to bring Noctis and friends quest to an early conclusion. Of course, this giant world would be wasted if it didn’t have anything to do in it, luckily, Final fantasy XV is full of quest to entice you to stray from the beaten path of the main story. The downside is that most of the quest are basic fetch quest, that while encouraging exploration of the world, offer little in terms of reward or excitement. One quest line literally had me travel to the same farm multiple times to simply harvest vegetables. Of course, with any Final Fantasy the best content is saved for the end game and that remains true with Final Fantasy XV, giving you the opportunity to unlock high level dungeons to truly test your skills.

While Final Fantasy XV’s open-world is an attractive first for the series, it was the combat that kept me engaged throughout my sixty-eight-hour play-through. Longtime fans of Final Fantasy are no doubt familiar with the series traditional turn-based combat, but for the first time in the series, in an effort to attract new fans who may have been turned off by the more methodical pace of the older entries, Square is introducing a new action-combat system that is more akin to the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Let’s be clear: I love turn-based combat and would love for Final Fantasy to continue to innovate in that style; having said that, the new action-combat system in Final Fantasy XV is, to put it simply, exhilarating.

The action of XV is fast paced and a little hectic, I often found myself engaging one group of enemies and had a second or third group join the fray, requiring me to reconsider my tactics on the fly. Luckily, nearly every enemy has a set of weakness and strengths that Noctis and party are fully capable of exploiting, whether it be an enemy weak to a certain weapon type; like lances or great swords, or the traditional magic elements of fire, ice or thunder. To accompany the fast-paced action combat, Noctis has an assortment of warping and phasing abilities that enable the young prince to overcome the direst of encounters. A quick tap of the square(X on Xbone) allows Noctis to phase through incoming attacks and, sometimes, gives Noctis the opportunity to inflict a powerful parry attack. If you find yourself being overwhelmed, a simple push of triangle (Y) will warp Noctis to safety allowing you to regenerate HP and MP and deliver a devastating warp-strike attack upon returning to the fray. As for your party members, while you cannot control them directly, they still serve an important role in combat. By performing certain actions in battle, like attacking an enemy from behind, you can perform a blindside attacks or social link attacks which allows Noctis and a party member to perform a short combo with significantly more damage. Unlike previous Final Fantasy, you do not have direct control of the party durin

Sorry for that tangent
Ok finally we are at the positives first I really all the hunts those should get really intense and some could always have some scripted climatic moments the open world also always felt so big and wide it always felt like there was something but it always felt real it always feel like some place you can just go with it felt like there was history everywhere. Also some people complain that you need to watch a movie and a anime to understand the plot but no you totally don’t need to watch that **** I didn’t need watch some anime to understand this game hey the game is this thing called subtilty were they tell you the same stuff but they don’t go out to tell you, you have to not be a dumb ass to understand it So you remember when I rambled all about the game play well I lied because I don’t know how but they just made it work the bosses are so cool and each enemy fells challenging enough to make you think on which weapon to use and yeah I said that the block was not reliable but in my opinion it makes feel that much better when you finally get the block and perry it feels so good. And now the best thing about the Final Fantasy 15 was the characters each character bonches off of each other so much Ignis is always the straight thinker who takes care of everyone prompto is the descent comic relief who has a actually good and unexpected backstory and Gladio is the straight thinker who always tells Notis when he is being a dumbass which happens a lot. And I can’t even get into any of the other characters without getting into spoilers so please go play this amazing game for yourself

This was the first FF game I have ever played and to be honest it was very good, being new to the franchise and style of play had me skeptical but soon as I instigated the play and nestled into to the lore and story it was feeling interesting immersive and very "Fantasy" based.

The characters are well polished something you see in many high budget games, the quad team that you play with throughout the game felt great making me want to play with them rather than seeing them and then going "meh ok let's go kill something".

The story was a little confusing to start with as I didn't know much about the characters or the factions or game worlds or the God's or the various unique animals but in someway it felt as if that made it more fun more adventurous and something which hooked me from start to end.

Aspects of the game like the limited driving and travel of the world, as well as the this weapon is best for this monster mechanic let it down for me a bit but not by much.

Overall this was a awesome game, had loads fun and really enjoyed it. However this to me seems like a game that I would only play once so future or even past installments of this franchise I wouldn't go hunting for, as I feel this was a one time thing and it's style and genre is not all for me.

The dlc's are fun and majestic with so much emotion and feelings in to it and once you complete the dlc's you get rewarded in the actual game !!! but i think that square enix should have waited more with this game and released it on the PS5 and PC rather than the current generation cuz' the game doesnt feel polished and smooth. But overall its a fantastic game ! Expand

I am truly enjoying this game. Clear departure from older games in the series, but very fun. Have to switch to magic and then aim where you want it to go. Can't really target enemies easily (or at least that I have been able to figure out) 3) Really explains combat as you go, but doesn't explain elemancy well. Such as using coins to create experience spells. Much of that is hard to figure out 4) Fishing game is great, but doesn't explain lures or how to figure out what fish are in a spot. 5) I find it annoying that items keep popping up again on the map. Would have preferred to just find and move on with more items to find out there. Tough for completion-ists like myself to make sure we found everything. 6) Stopping the damned car. When you want to stop and get out the car it doesn't pull over and parks sooooooo far past where you wanted to. Annoying 7) Repeated attacks from above by the Imperials, even when your already in a quest hunt. Gets tiring fighting them over and over again. But I guess it's nowhere as tedious as the original games where you would randomly have to fight monsters.

That being said, I love the comradery between the 4 lead characters. The conversations seem genuine. Even if a little corny at times. Like why is Cindy in a bikini and constantly washing your windshield??? I mean, it's awesome, but really??? Graphics and map are awesome. I really like the story so far, and especially Noctis' and Prompto's characters. Although I seem to get tired of completing quests, I find myself enjoying 2-3 hour sessions before I get bored. Much like Resident Evil 7, I think the franchise was seriously in need of a reboot and they got most things right in my book.

However, even with all it's flaws, I keep coming back to this game from time to time. The game shines on the small things, mainly the dynamic between the main character and his friends. You really care about these guys, even more than some other characters that the game begs you to care. Exploring the world, driving on scenic roads with your buddies, camping, enjoying the photos taken after a day battling all kinds of creatures, funny idle chats... All these little things add a lot on the experience. The battle system is awesome too, very dynamic and intuitive, you never get tired of it. The creatures you face only make everything better.

This game is awesome and after all the updates, it's finally at the best form. I don't understand all the hate this game gets but for me, FFXV is among the best games of this generation.

The game is great, and includes many fun features with great quests and many things to do. Though there are many lacking qualities that make it any better. Like for example the mazes can be very annoying. The graphics and sound, and character development is absolutely astonishing. Personally, one of my favourite games.

This is unfortunately the truth with Final Fantasy XV, but at the same time it isn't a complete catastrophe of a game. Man, there are always more and more haters nowadays. Most of the negative reviews are people saying they are FF fans and blaming everything because the game wasn't what they expected. Unfortunately they must understand that people change (and also Square's public). I am a FF fan and played most of them. I was introduced to the RPG games in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I didn't even knew what RPG was that time. After some time I played FF VII and that one got me. Liked most of them from VI to X (part 1, forget part 2). And after that all of them (offline) were disappointing to me.

FF XV was the only one that tried to go back and focus on a good history (at least a little). I'm not saying was the best and Square could really explore A LOT more of the history (even on all the other characters). There were a lot of gaps and after chapter 8 it seems that they rushed to finish the game. It's obvious they focused mainly on the friendship instead of explaining more of the villain, the empire, all the other characters and even Luna. They tried to do a LOT of new things like fishing, car travel, food, minigames in-game that I really liked, but I'd trade it for more history. That was the only thing that made this FF not perfect for me. Some bugs ALL games can have, even more with open world and with dynamic fight, I don't focus on the little problems. Seems like those negative "Fans" plays the game just to search for problems.

I am realistic, you can't compare this game with others. But this was one of the most realistic and dark story of Final Fantasy. It's one of the only FF that people die (not just one), get hurt, are bad, mean, scared. This game shows that some actions have consequences. If you want to do something very difficult it has a price. It's not like most of them that they all get out of a war unharmed.

If this game could explain more of the history with DLCs it's going to be awesome.
    Summing up:
    + Reality
+ Battle (the only dynamic FF I really liked)
+ Friendship (the story is totally based on the friendship of the 4 of them)
    + Minigames and extra stuff
+ Graphics (Summons chilled me every time with more then only one animation per summon)
    + Dungeons
    - Lack of explanation (could expand and explain a lot more of the story, rushed from mid to end)
    - Too much secondary quests instead of main quest with few history (just make something for a person without a good history to make it most of the time)
    - Lack of characters. They focus so much in the 4 of them but I think it could be more characters involved (like Aranea, Iris and some others with more history on them). This is the first FF with so few characters.

I'm definitely a bit biased with my score for this game, because a big reason I rated this highly is that I was really blown away by how beautiful the game is. Many of the other game fundamentals were either pretty good or at least solid enough to not be annoying. The combat started off new and inventive, although parts of it weren't all that great and by the end I was fairly bored with it. The side quests were pretty average. Voice acting and facial animation was pretty good imo. And the story and characters were mostly competent, although the pacing in particularly wasn't great.

But the biggest thing I felt during this game, and the reason I'm giving it a 9, is that I thought this game did an excellent job of getting the player to often just put down the controller and observe the world. Even in vast open world games, we spend most of our time running through them and often only admiring their beauty while we are busy doing other things. But this game did a great job of replicating the feeling of just driving in a car through beautiful scenery, not taking too much time to worry about what comes next but instead just focusing on what you're seeing outside. I think that this is easily one of the hardest things for games to do well - most of us don't want to take the time to smell the roses when we're playing video games, we want to be continuously occupied by either the story or by doing actions in the game world. But this game really did a fantastic job of bringing me back to that feeling of being on a car trip in a new location, that I almost never get from gaming.

If you have time to enjoy a story driven game with beautiful graphics, animations, and deep combat I whole heartedly recommend FFXV. Maybe for a bit beefier computers, i will update this post to how it runs when i upgrade my processor in march. Seriously recommended game.

The game has an amazing story and it has a lot of things to do. I know it has a linear area but you can still go back to the open area.

During my playthrough of this game, I went from "this is a pretty good game" to "this is awesome" to "this isn't as good as I originally thought" to "it's a meh game" to "its awesome" to "its pretty good"

Keep in mind this is the 1st final fantasy game I've ever played. So many good and bad things conflict with each other. But the game is still very enjoyable

After so many years of development, Final Fantasy XV is not what I expected it to be. The universe is immense and beautiful and the characters are just fine. But the story is short and disappointing and the gameplay suffers from lack of depth. FFXV is a good game, but it can never bring the former glories back to the series.

Even as you reflect on the rarity of a blockbuster that's willing to take real risks, you'll be left with the uncomfortable realisation that ten years wasn't quite long enough, after all. Those jagged edges are, in the end, just a little too sharp. [Feb 2017, p.110]

Despite a divided feel, torn between what it was and what it plans to be, Final Fantasy XV has a lot to offer. If you're a diehard JRPG fan, then it's a positive sign that the series can cross over to a new format. And if you're just looking for an open world adventure, Final Fantasy XV certainly has that in spades, while doing just enough things differently to separate it from the likes of Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls.
