Every year they say about bringing major changes but at the end there's no single change maybe except for the team kits and player faces. I am playing pes 20 so far and the gameplay is way ahead of fifa. Maybe itJust don't make a fool out of yourself. Also don't let EA take your money unnecessarily.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After a horrendous year for me with Fifa 20, which I did not enjoy at all, I wanted to try Fifa 21. I knew it would be bad and I didn't expect a good Fifa from EA but god this is awful. I had to double check that I wasn't playing Fifa 20 because its just the same. Goals everywhere. Just play the ball to some pacey trickster and he would do the job but he had to do it 5 times in one match because your opponent did the same. Put up a team with 90 pace at average and you are in div 2 with Rivals. You got a good and expensive team? Cute! Here comes Ea with another made up event which plummets the prices on the market. Boom! you bought Kevin de Bruyne for 300K? He is 130k now. How come that the community is not doing something to this franchise? Youtubers who are praising this game cant be taken seriously. E-sporters giving their lives for a game that doesnt truly reflect the worlds most beautiful game. Should I start about the lootbox system? Should I start about the easily given penalties? Should I start about the awfully slow menus? Did I say about the lootboxes? Scripting? The lootbox system? I cannot imagine EA being proud of this game. How did they work a year on this game? They are delivering a lazy product to their customers full of bugs.… Expand

    Gameplay is an actual joke, it's the same as FIFA 20. Servers are atrocious, Pro Clubs seems identical to FIFA 17, and the game is overall super buggy. FUT is promoting gambling, and I hope countries soon take action and outlaw these type of game modes. I am tired of EA's bs. I feel like giving the game a 0/10 is still too much. We need a better game.

    The game is basically a copy of its predecessor and it doesn’t innovate in any way. I had zero expectations before the launch of the game and these expectations weren’t even close to being fulfilled. I hope EA goes bankrupt and never comes close to doing anything related to games in the future!!!

    The game is an unplayable mess. The ball physics are dire and it floats in the air like a balloon. But worst of all is the abysmal defending online. Offline you can switch back to legacy defending, but online forces you to user tactical defending which is broken and completely unenjoyable. Play PES, download the option file and play an enjoyable game of    Defending broken.

    I was playing FIFA from FIFA 2005. There were just 2 updates - in 2006 and 2014, From 2014 it's just the same gameplay with some little different settings of it. From 2016 I dont buy this piece of sht. And every year i read here the same negative review which of coure fair, but nothing changes from year to year.     Just as frustrating and bad as the last couple of years, playing single player is completely pointless, just play like fifa 18 and you get the same experiance, good thing I don't pay full price for it.

    A terrible scripted game as always. It doesn't deserve to be bought and I hope people will realise this. I fortunately borrowed it but got annoyed soon enough so it didn't disappoint me just like all the other FIFA games

Getting scores like 8-6, 7-0 etc on 4-min half time.

Gameplay wise, they fix a problem for next release only for 2 new ones to appear. And if you can look past the shoddy gameplay its just boring, career mode is just a copy-paste with different UI. Looking at Football Manager and PES you'd think the sky is the limit with different management interactions but its all rubbish. This game needs a complete overhaul of new ideas, or it needs to step aside and let another developer have a go. This EA monopoly needs to end and stop treating the players like fools.… Expand

    It's the same every year. And I don't mean the same game ( that is actually implied) but the game launches good and enjoyable. Then, with the first patch they f*ck up everything. The bounces are the most frustrating thing ever and let's not talk about handicap. I'll think about a long long time before buying fifa 22. This story have been repeating itself since fifa 18.

    It's more FIFA again, if you aren't bored of it yet then you might like it but there's very few gameplay updates. If you told me it was FIFA 20 i'd believe it.

    Probably the most annoying part is how bad some players still look, there's barely any updates each year but still so many players look nothing like they should.

    I was hoping that FIFA 21 would be the title to get me excited about next gen, about getting PS5 or new Xbox but it's far from. Its minimal, the story mode has been pretty much removed (yeah Volta is a cheap trick and a joke). The changes in Manager mode probably took a week for some junior designer to come up with. The menus are sad, boring and uninspiring, depressing almost. There is the excitement of soccer, the motion, the action and dynamic energy of players? So much missed opportunity. I am guessing and hoping its all due to little investment from EA in developing this game rather than skill of individuals working on the game. The game is a good replication of how football is experienced during this pandemic, there are some great moments of good football, buy overall its pretty lifeless and the energy is missing.    … Expand

I decided to buy this one since it was on sale for 10 dollars, so I though “sure, why not?” It’s painful to see how little this game has changed in the past 4 years. It feels like almost exactly the same game as 17 except I’d say the goal keepers are worse than before (I can’t speak for 18, 19 or 20 since I didn’t play those). Defending still feels like your players don’t entirely understand how to play their position since at times they will leave players wide open for an easy goal (I play on world class difficulty so this CANNOT happen). Attacking also largely feels the same, it’s very easy and straightforward to find an opening and thread the ball between the defenders for the most part. Over the head through balls feel really overpowered and way too easy to perform. Since every team plays exactly the same, once you’ve found a strategy that works for you, you’ll pretty much always be able to create chances on goal no matter which team you play. It’s a simple rinse and repeat, the thing that will cause you to lose games is whether you’re able to capitalize on your chances or not. Since there are often times the AI will score on you even though you did nothing wrong, or couldn’t have prevented them from scoring because your AI defense left them open, this is what will ultimately decide if you win or lose in the end. Not because you didn’t play better or because you played worse, but because the AI decided certain things were going to happen. I’m not saying this is “scripting” but you could certainly argue that the AI seems to plan out certain things. Overall, the game really hasn’t changed much. Career mode is largely the same, ultimate team seems to have gotten all the focus as usual. If you see it for dirt cheap like I did, and you don’t have PES (which is a much better game in my opinion), then go for it, it’s worth 10 or less dollars, but any more than that and I’d say don’t waste your money.… Expand

Frostbite isn’t made for sports games, FIFA has proved this the past few years with lacklustre releases that resemble players ice skating round a pitch rather than running. Whilst both FIFA and PES have flaws, the latter is a mile ahead with gameplay and that’s even with theirIt concerns me when critics give NO negative reviews on a game that is quite frankly just not up to standard. Whilst both FIFA and PES have flaws, the latter is a mile ahead with gameplay and that’s even with their own Fox Engine issues. If you want a soccer sim avoid FIFA, it might look pretty (most of the time) but it’s certainly not a realistic depiction of the beautiful game.

    FIFA has always been flash with very little substance especially at the end of this console generation with it’s only real appeal being it having licenses (which can easily be loaded into PES in less that 10 minutes using an option file). FIFA 21 is no different, it’s pretty much the same game as 21 with a comical “Agile Dribble” which looks ludicrously unrealistic when players such as CBs can do it at will. Players still feel wayward, defending is as bad as it has ever been and the inevitable scripting is there with some very obvious bugs where defenders stop balls with superhuman stretches and balls getting stuck on the crossbar amongst others.

    The fact that so-called journalists are giving this game 80+ ratings is a joke, scores reserved for Good games that aren’t full priced updates of an already stagnant formula that seriously needs a shake up with PES changing engines for 2022. It shows you can’t trust those sites, stick to YouTube and listen to people who aren’t EA influencers or on the end of their ad money.

    Career Mode has gotten some attention which has been sorely needed but when the game is in the state it is, where’s the fun or point of even putting time in? EA wants you to be playing FUT, spending money on a team that will reset next you and you need to start all over again.

    Avoid FIFA, avoid EA’s production line sports titles which are regurgitated every year with very little improvement yet they still expect you to fork out the price of an AAA game. But people won’t, they’ll buy FIFA and will just enable EA to keep releasing rubbish.    … Expand

    CM finally got a decent upgrade, but it's still so far off from being a solid mode. Two thirds of the additions over the last decade have been horrible, so each year half the game is just fixing the broken stuff introduced in the game from a previous year.

    FUT is a toxic and exploitative game mode that is only rewarding if either you have boat loads of time to trade in the market or if you're willing to spend money on packs. And the game modes aren't even that much fun.

    I am playing FUT for 4 years now and FUT21 is by far most scripted of them all. It literally doesn't let you win the game when you supposed to lose. In my region, almost all of the KSA players buy fifa points and simply the game does not let you beat them. This is absolutely WORST fifa ever, don't waste your money, go and buy ride to hell retribution instead of this trash.

    Neglected career mode as per usual except a couple of minor changes. Player career mode is untouched, these are two modes that have untapped potential and it's a shame to see it so neglected. Late to the review party, but seeing the 0.7 it's vastly deserving of much less than that.

    Its a copy from fifa 20. I did not buy the game, but tried it on ea access for 8 hours. I did not want to spend money so i had pretty bad team. Realised that if your players arent 90+ pace rated and use all your money on this game you gonna struggle. Not gonna buy this version for the first time. And to the players who spend money and support EA, enjoy!

    Let's start with the pros - good soundtrack. Volta is also ok.

    Now time for the cons:
    The gameplay is disgustingly awful. Nothing has weight to it, the scripting is absurd, players are flying all over the place, you need to attempt a body slam to get a foul and the skill moves are pulled straight out of shaolin soccer - this is not what football looks or feels like.
    The presentation is actually awful. I had gotten used to people telling me that PES doesn't have good presentation but I decided that I was making a trade - presentation for good gameplay. But nah, most of the players look NOTHING like their real life counterparts, a hefty amount are using VERY OLD (we're talking 2015) player models and a very small fraction are actually up to date and looking like the real deal. Menues feel laggy and the graphics have this "coated in vaseline" feel to them.

    The only game mode that has received any attention is FUT which has always been a waste of time to me. Everything else is more or less the exact same as it was back in 2018.

    EA have once again managed to hit a new low... and no one is surprised.    … Expand

    The FIFA series desperately needs a fresh start. Right now, it relies mainly on the Ultimate Team mode and marketing, while going around in circles. Instead of leaping into the future, FIFA 21 takes half a step forward and two steps sideways in an attempt to differentiate itself from its predecessor well enough to rationalize spending money.
