Great fun, storyline a bit dull and some missions can be frustrating, but I can forgive that from a game where I can attack an enemy base of the back of an elephant with a flamethrower.

Enemy variety could be better. There aren't many vehicles. There are a lot of weapons and I enjoyed taking over outposts and fortresses. The cutscenes are decent, nothing too flashy but at least the people in the cutscenes look real. The protagonist is annoying enough to make you want to kill him. It took me about 30 hours to complete the main story and I enjoyed every bit of it, I'm hoping Far Cry 5 is even better. Expand

I don't get the praise of this game. It is typical derivative Ubisoft drivel. It is better than Assassin's Creed, but that game is annoying and even more derivative. Far Cry 4 is a relatively fun game with good graphics but it is so repetitive within the game and compared to Far Cry 3. Ubisoft just ruins games with their game formulas and uncanny number of stupid collectibles in game.

If you never played FC3 but you always wanted to see what the developers have been trying to do since FC2, then FC4 is the game for you. I'm generally not a completion-ist type gamer but I certainly did more side missions and random exploration in this game than most other open world games I've played. You can just move around so easily while still feeling limited and not god like and the whole time there is an opportunity to witness funny stuff like a pack of rhinos slamming enemy vehicles into trees. The combat is fluid and you can easily access your weapons in combat. It gives you the opportunity to be an artist in crafting the massacre of your enemies. There are many weaknesses to the game but all of them can be overlooked if you just want to hang out in the mountains and blow stuff up. Sure the developers could do better but when this much money is on the line, innovation and taking risks are not a top priority. Take it for what it is, FC4 is worth playing if you're looking for a open world fps experience. Expand

The story is somewhat creative in Far Cry 4 compared to it's predecessors with the ability to change the story arc with your dissensions. The amount of weapons to choose for your destruction is very diverse anything from Pistols,Snipers,Rockets,Grenade Launchers,Bows and even extremely powerfully "Signature" Weapons. The open world to Far Cry 4 is huge and it feels alive with Lots of Wildlife/Birds and Enemy solders driving around looking to be blown up.

Disclaimer: I would like to give this a 7.5 but the cons force me to round down rather than up.

Far Cry 4 is a fun romp through a well designed, well detailed atmosphere. Neither of these are foreign concepts to Ubisoft, as they've consistently designed amazing locales for both the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry series. Graphically, it looks great and the gameplay is the typical, somewhat twitchy, first person controls that Ubisoft still hasn't really nailed down as well as other studios. I absolutely love the music in the game as it genuinely compliments the locale and really helps immerse the player into the game.

Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends. Far Cry 4 suffers from the typical Ubisoft sandbox problem of cramming an insane amount of fluff in between a very weak, short, main story arc. If someone simply focuses on the story missions and the character named side missions themselves, the game could probably be completed in 10 hours or less. The rest of the time spent will be looking around a limited amount of side activities, almost all involving going to a point and killing enemies or defending a point or by racing, and (literally) hundreds of collectibles. Collectible hunting wouldn't be bad if they continually added to character growth but after a certain point they no longer matter. Trophies/Achievements generally require half (or less) of each collectible type to unlock and the "Karma rating" is easy to peak at max level before even reaching the northern areas of Kyrat. The player will earn more than enough XP to unlock every single skill long before collecting all of the hundreds of items so, outside of sitting in a menu reading a few context blurbs, there's little incentive to bother collecting EVERYTHING.

Ubisoft also needs to invest in writers who are capable of character development. Ajay Ghalle is a bland protagonist with whom I feel no connection or investment, much like Aiden Pierce of Ubisoft's Watch_Dogs title from earlier in 2014. Also like Watch_Dogs, the secondary characters are cliched and unremarkable. I feel no compelling reason to care about the Golden Path and their "leaders" do not help their case at all. The most charismatic and humanized characters are the so called villains - Pagan Min and Noore most specifically. While playing, I couldn't help but feel the game would have been so much better if it presented you with a path at the beginning where you could work with Pagan Min, Ghalle legacy be damned. This would have offered much more replay value and could have effectively turned FC4 into two distinct experiences - one as the returning rebel champion (the current game) and one where Ajay turns his fame into despotic power.

Then there's the stretching of the imagination. For a country embroiled in civil war for at least two decades and extremely remote (the area is basically supposed to be on the borders of Nepal, China, and India), I find it odd that many NPCs you run into will be up to date on technology and social media trends. Radio Free Kyrat's office is a falling down shack with a whole lot of technology in it and its DJ, the annoying Rabi Ray Rana, is constantly referencing "first world problems" as if Kyrat were a Mexican border town stealing U.S. Wifi while dealing with the Cartel. Given the remote tribal areas (look up Sikkim on Wikipedia for a sense of where this game takes place), these references make zero sense.

All that said, I still give the game a 7.5 overall because it's fun to play and the locale is so intriguing. Multiplayer is hit or miss and coop is particularly fun, except for the fact that Hurk is annoying as hell. Even though it's pointless to collect everything, it's fun to collect enough to learn a decent amount of Kyrati history. Being sent into other places like Shangri-La and The Himalayas adds another layer of depth to the game that makes it stand out. In fairness, the Shangri-La sections were, quite possibly, my favorite moments the game had to offer. Frankly, if you look at my review tendencies, you'll find that a 7.5 is actually fairly favorable, overall.

But it does get repetitive, and fast. Ultimately, that repetitiveness, plus the very weak story, the continued twitchy driving controls, and the idiotic "lets throw 1000 pounds of armor on heavy mobs to make them 'harder'" Ubisoft mentality make me drop the game down a few notches. It's still very much worth playing, perhaps when the game goes on sale or perhaps as a rental.

I am not a fan of the run to point A, kill things, run to point B, kill things formula. I wanted to chase down the tyrant king and really get involved in the war going on but instead the game has you doing petty soldiering tasks. I mean your supposed to be some hero! Let's do hero things!

Grant it, I think the game is gorgeous and the map was interesting to explore for a little while. I can really see the AAA power under the hood working its magic. If there was a more involved plot and/or narrative I would really enjoy taking a break and doing the side quests every once in a while. But when the entire game is side quests it just seems like an expansion to something else. I wasn't even able to finish the game because it just couldn't hold my attention. I would spend my money on something else.

This is called the "character introduction" phase of story telling, and FarCry just decides to pretty much skip it. But you know what? Screw it. We know what we're all here for - let the chaos commence!

This game is a lot of fun. It jumps straight into the action and you immediately get a lot of freedom to roam about. The pace is set nicely with a lot of random encounters and a steady scattering of collectables, which helps to keep up the momentum whilst exploring the beautiful landscape. It also has the usual crazy type characters, and good humour. If you liked FarCry 3 you'll love 4.

Far Cry 4 is one of those games that give you a living, breathing and engaging world. Ajay’s father was a well-known figure in Kyrat and the family name is considered very important to the locals. Shockingly, he finds Kyrat filled with political unrest.

The village is now led by Pagan Min, A smart and ruthless cold blooded killer. The introduction of Pagan is very strong but sadly he vanishes of screen for a surprisingly long time which causes his character to become weaker and less of a threat when he comes back later in the game. Ajay then joins a rebel group called the Golden Path led by Sabal and Amita to destroy the Regime.

The first thing you will notice is how impressive the Himalayan nation of Kyrat is, large mountains, beautiful tropical forests, ancient ruins and people living their daily lives. The huge world is intimidating with great little touches in the details that are highly appreciated and I did not notice any loading times throughout the game.

The character animation is very good and you really do feel the suffering of locals through their expressions. The political stakes are high between the Golden Path leaders Sabal and Amita. Both have solid performances throughout the game. Each of them wants to destroy Pagans Rule but have their own vision of doing it. Both visions are logical but you will have to make a tough decision between the two which will affect the future of Kyrat.

The 32 missions are interesting and don’t feel repetitive because they vary depending on whose side you chose. The world is filled with activities to do apart from the main story like races, controlling sections, assassinations and hostage missions. You will gradually unlock more side missions the more outposts you control. The more you take over outposts the weaker Pagan’s army becomes and infiltrating them this time around is more fun because each one needs a different strategic approach by either going full force or stealth without anyone seeing you. After you control an outpost, it will become your safe house and you will have access to first travel.

Liberating radio towers early in the game is important because it unlocks various weapons and will open parts of the map that shows new landmarks and animal locations. The AI is smarter this time around, the enemies will guard their area well and if they lose their outpost, they might return at a later stage and fight back.
The gun mechanics are solid with a lot of weapons at your disposal.

Wild life in Kyrak is vast and diverse; some will run away when they see you while others such as the eagles, bears and tigers will attack you if they find an opportunity. Most of the animals are tough and attack surprisingly. One time I was on a mission when all of a sudden a Rhino attacks me from the side, luckily I had a C4 equipped and took him out quickly. You can also use some animals to your advantage to turn the tide of battle in your favor by letting them out of the cage for them to attack or by riding an elephant and destroying everything that crosses your path.

Hunting wildlife for their skins will be used for crafting all sorts of things such as wallets, loot bags, and explosive bags, while collecting plants will allow you to create syringes. You can also earn karma by performing good tasks for the locals or by killing an animal with your arrow instead of a rocket launcher. This rewards you with experience points to improve your skill.
Traveling from point to point is fun and there are numerous vehicles that are available; however, some worth noting are the return of the hang glider which allows you to see the beautiful world from above. The wingsuit, a cool suit that is activated after a high jump. My personal favorite was the Buzzer, a small helicopter which you can also use to attack the enemies from above. There are some new mechanics in the game; you can now shoot while driving and the grappling hook that is mainly used for hard to reach places.

fter you complete Act 1, you will unlock co-op. I found co-op very fun to play because it added to the overall experience. Taking over an outpost with a buddy never felt better.

Far Cry 4 has a 5 on 5 multiplayer mode. You can either be the Golden Path who are heavily armed or the Rakshasa, a stealth group equipped with a bow and arrow. The multiplayer is well balanced, but I didn’t enjoy it much like other multiplayer games and didn’t find much reason to go back.

The overall story wasn’t very strong and you most probably won’t remember the main character after you complete the game. The lack of Pagan Min throughout most of the game is a letdown because his character could have done so much more. What truly shines is the fun gameplay and gorgeous, unpredictable world.

Yes, there are a lot of similarities to Far Cry 3 but this isn’t a bad thing because Far Cry 3 was a good game.

Far Cry 4 is a significant step forward for the series and worth checking out.

A direct upgrade from Far Cry 3, everything's better. The map is larger and there's much to do. It took me 20 hours to complete the campaign in single-player, and 65 hours to complete it. Definitely worth it.

Far Cry 4 (and 3) stand to me as among the most remarkable achievements in the videogame medium. Also, the world (Far Cry 4 especially) shows such attention to culture and a multitude of references to the real world locations. Very few games have made me read up on history and culture of real locations, except FC4 and Civilization. FC4 made me read up on the Himalayan cultures, and added Nepal to my list of places to see.

I was also lucky enough to be able to play it on PC with ultra-settings as well, and it is just stunning to look at. I once posted a screenshot on Facebook – something I never do – and received a ton of likes. It was just a landscape shot, but the sharpness of the art was appreciated by gamers and non-gamers alike. Many had to think twice to see it was a game at all.

This game is a blast from end to finish, and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. The entertainment value here is incredible, and reminds me why I play video games even as an adult in my 30s: at their best, they off a richness that no other media even comes close to.

I can not in good faith, give Far Cry 4 a good score. Is this really even Far Cry anymore? I'm playing a mission right now, on top of a cliff, needing to get down to do whatever I need to do. I keep heading down, towards the marker. About half way down, mission fails.

I finally just ski down the the extremely steep slope like I'm on a snowboard, about 150m or so, straight down, not stopping the entire way. No health lost, nothing. No big deal. I get down, immediately get attacked by: a) An eagle, b) Pit viper, c) "Hunters" (really?) and apparently, d) His pet wolf. Oh, the hunters have flame arrows to make it super irritating.

I've played this game for roughly 4 hours so far, and can not begin to comprehend how it has a 8+. It's literally Far Cry 3.1: Himalayan Edition. Same weapons, same controls, same map design, same collectibles, same skills, same generic bad guys, same retarded AI, same outpost design, same scripted events, same perfectly set up animal-gets-loose-and-kills-everyone-for-you scenarios, same radio tower mission structure, etc, etc.

It's boring, uninteresting, uninspired, hackneyed, contrived, repetitive, stagnant crap. It was OK with Far Cry 3 (at least the flowers don't glow and dubstep doesn't play all the time), but again? The same exact game, again? Please...I've had enough, this game is going right on ebay.

I was a huge fan of Far Cry 2, I put a shameful amount of time into that game (story and MP). This game...this game is an abomination. It did well, so I know Far Cry 5 will come out next year - season pass and zero innovation in hand. Only this time, I won't waste any time on it.

    Pathetic, Ubisoft.

Far cry 4 is one of those games where you can take a rocket launcher, walk up to an elephant, and give the immediate are a new paint job. It has a sense of humor that can be appretiated by drug lords and violence enthusiasts. After the prologue, the game hits you on the bum and lets you do whatever the hell you want from then on. Farcry 4 is visually arresting and a bombardment of suprising action throughout the campaign. But that is where the game fails too, the campaign. What were going to be extra minutes of the game- the side missions are so annoying that they interfere with the main game itself. When you complete a takeover or save villagers, the game repeatedly tells you to go back EACH time another attack happens on the place you just visited! And it's not like you can ignore these annoyances, you CANT ignore them, and you CANT RESUME YOUR CAMAPAIGN UNTIL YOU FINISH WHAT YOU ARE TOLD! I was not expecting this from a triple-A title, and especially from all the hype about this. This game is what happend to Destiny and Bungie because it was rushed, it just splashes all over the place. But it's not all that bad, as you can invite friends who don't have the game to play with you, but only on Playstation! This game is fun, actually but the Multiplayer mode that they added is unesscary! Because no one plays it! People can create maps for other players to visit but it's a total stupid idea because what we want is exploration! Not some map with a few guns, I thought we had CoD for that! And that's scary because a game that's made on the open world itself, it attracts players because of that too! But Ubisoft wants you to not explore which was super frustrating! That aside, the game is fun because the open world is large and there is plenty to do if the game gives you something good to do aside from the horrible side missions. But this is a pricy one because, it's just a game that's good because of the open world, everything else including Ajay and Pagan- nobody cares it's not even a good story either. FarCry 4 is a highly ambitious game that was so high on the hype level that everything was about to explode but it fails hard. If you can get past that it's a game worth experiencing with your FRIENDS! If not, it's better left off of your play list. Expand

Although, I felt this game was a bit "up in your face" at times. When you capture an outpost, there is a prisoner in binds shouting and pleading for mercy and he or she has some annoying mission you have to do. Any time you enter that damn building, they keep saying "HELP SAVE MY FAMILY!!!!" and there's that guy planning a mission outside like "NO THIS IS NOT GONNA WORK!!!! Shame none of these felt present in the game after a few years of waiting. The only reason I finished the game was to get to the end. Come to think of it now, Far Cry 4 is like a massive baked potato; it's the same as Baked Potato 3, it sometimes has a bit of butter and cheese, maybe some baked beans if you're lucky, but overall it's still just potato all the way through without much else to it.

The story was like JD and coke you leave out for a couple of days as well; weak and flat. The Amita/Sabal choices always annoyed me because of how indistinct both their ideologies were. Here's an idea guys, instead of asking me all the time to choose, put it down to a vote of the people who are actually going to being living in Kyrat after you throw Pagen over, because I honestly do not give a toss about you once I've scattered my mums ashes.

Go stealth, go guns a blazing, toss some steaks at the enemy and watch the animals do your work for you, perhaps mount an elephant and do some stampeding. It's all good times no matter the approach. The co-op was a blast, hunting missions, capturing outposts/fortresses basically anything I could do with a friend I did. The other online modes all run really well for me and I have spent a few hours mucking about. Nothing to mind blowing but still pretty fun.

The story was fine, not great but it held my attention. The main quest that you have to do by yourself was really fun, the missions aren't to short or to long, very well paced IMO.

The biggest compliment I can pay this game is that I did not want to stop playing until I had completed it. 40 hours of pure fun is good value IMO. With solid online modes the replay value is pretty high as well. All in all this game was a very pleasant surprise for myself.

First of all, I think there has been way too much build up towards the release (especially towards the new bad guy; Pagan Min) and a lot of the expectations weren't exactly satisfied. For example, the mechanics (while great) are practically the same from Far Cry 3. I know you shouldn't fix something that's not broken, but still, no improvement there. The story is excessively short and the characters (especially Pagan Min) aren't memorable. Unlike Vaas who was completely crazy and went after you countless times, this guy doesn't really want to find you, let alone waste you, and therefore you spend most of the game hearing him talk over a phone (think Handsome Jack style from Borderlands 2, but less awesome)

Still, any fan of the Far Cry series will enjoy the game, mostly for the good ol' Far Cry mechanics, the beautiful open world and the fun, although short, missions.

Only thing I think can be done better is the length And focus of the main story can be done better but then again games with open worlds like far cry has this always ends up one of its lowest or weakest points sometimes so I just hope on next far cry Ubisoft addresses this. Lastly one think I would like to see Ubisoft do more of is DLC, something I feel isn't their biggest strength and that they don't seem to ever have a lot of for any of their games, btw I mean DLC like full expansions basically meaningful DLC that adds to or continues the main story. Which is something that could help make the main story in Far Cry 4 longer and stronger and in fact releasing lots of this type of DLC is what is normally done with with open world type games and something Ubisoft needs to do more of and get better at.

Lastly I would just like to add that one thing I love about Ubisoft is how they stick to what works when it comes to their games and franchises and that I like since going with something completely diferent and new is not always the best route or what's wanted when it comes to what's best or next for a proven franchise/game. Also I feel Ubisoft has been doing some great things for the most part and has some great franchises and games even while all may not have gone right or perfectly like watchdogs, they still have some of the best games and franchises In the gaming industry and with another new franchise soon to be added and born named Division the future is only looking brighter for Ubisoft and I'm only loving it and loving the direction they have gone, just keep the games coming Ubisoft, as long as you deliver you will always have my money. I think Ubisoft is going the wrong way betting in quantity of games over the quality in all franchises. With this beautiful environment the story deserved a better imagination and integration. There are excess of influences between the structure and mechanic of Assassin´s Creed, Watch Dogs, Far Cry and Splinter Cell. And i´m not saying it´s a bad game because it isn´t. But it´s surely time to stop, think and start to innovate.

I was impressed with the graphics, there was a couple of occasions where I saw trees doing that turning thing from above when you pass them in the air. But aside from that the game is brilliant. The story is well thought out and presented in good bite sized chunks (maybe Bungie could take a leaf out of Ubisoft's book and actually have a story). There are plenty of activities to keep you going, and if you are like me then you can spend hours just exploring the open world (again Bungie take note).

The similarity to Far Cry 3 is there in the game mechanics but the graphical improvements on the next gen are superior to Far Cry 3. The verticality was touted a lot, and it is great fun jumping off hills and wingsuiting down.

I would say anyone with a PS4 or xbone should own this title.

Throughout the game it gives you choices that really don’t impact the game very much and either choice you do is the right one and all that changes is audio clips during the missions. The driving and gun play were very good in the game. But it doesn't make up for the lack of story/characters

Game play in Far Cry 4 like its immediate predecessor is incredibly linear and driven by slavish processes you have no choice but to follow. Straitjacketing the game player in this manner constantly reminds the gamer that they are, in fact, playing a game, removing any sense of suspension of disbelief and in so doing making it difficult to really to immerse yourself in the vast world the game offers.

This is a real shame and I feel demonstrates a rather patronizing attitude towards to gaming community in general. Its as if we are all too stupid to make our own decisions and make our way through the game using our wits needing instead to be led by the nose from beginning to end.

For myself I'll be saying goodbye to the Far Cry series. I have loyally endured to date but prefer games that let me use my wits and imagination to solve the challenges presented which is what good gaming is really all about.

The game is similar to FC3, you could call it a 60 dollar expansion. But this game is so well done and beautiful, lack of bugs, fun, exciting game. Not an issue in my eyes, but i didn't play FC3 so this is probably why i loved this game so much.

Story i've heard is better in FC3, but this story is fine, nothing to give the game a 0 for. They complain about the characters too but I love all the characters so far! Your character, the two high dudes are hilarious, the radio guy cracks me up, the main villain is very Joker-esk. The two people who you fight with are both set in there ways and very distinct. The characters are cool.

And whoever complained about no split screen coop they need to calm down. The game comes with 10 keys to kyrat that allow you to share the game via share play on PS4 and play coop with anyone who has a PS4 even though they don't own the game. That's the first time a game is doing that. I fully respect that step. I feel that is a very thoughtless move in an industry of how can we milk the gamers wallets. I tip my hat to Ubisoft for having something like that implemented.

This game is amazing. The landscape is jaw dropping, I often laugh from the script, the combination of stealth into blowing things up is great. If you are looking for a game that fulfills your completionist personality this is it. Good amount of areas to take over and discover, tons of items to search for, good amount of guns to collect. I'm trying to think of some down sides. The only aggravating thing is completing a mission and then a hawk attacks you out of nowhere and takes 3 life bars away and if you aren't at full health you basically are dead. But i'm playing on the hardest difficulty so that would explain that. But you live or I should say you die and you learn in this game On hard you really find the best way to complete missions is to go stealth. Or if you are going to go loud you should defuse the alarm systems first. Sniping is a freaking blast. The stealth kills are brutal! Nothing better than double stealth killing and then take a knife from the second guy and throw it and kill the third NPC. No frame rate issues. only twice did i notice the absolutely tiny tiny lag in frame rate but all i did was stop running for a split second and the game caught back up. It was so small i can so no frame rate issues at all. The game as never froze. Zero bugs experienced. They let you play co-op with your friends via the ps4 share feature even though they don't own the game. I haven't played pvp multi player yet so sorry no comment there. I usually agree with critic scores on here, but 7.8 is way too low. I don't know how 5 mixed reviews can bring it down to a 7.8.

If you liked Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and Assassin's Creed, you will love this game. I love how they give the character a personality in first person. I hate when FPS RPG games don't give you a voice. During cut scenes they give you character and emotions and show your hands when you get pissed at people when you hold up a gun to tell them to get out of your house. The little things are what make me give games 10s. If I like a game or even I love it I go for 8.5 to 9.5. But that last .5 is all about attention to detail. And this game does just that. If you don't buy it at the $60 price tag I can't get mad. But if you see this game at $45 dollars pick it up. It is a must have.

I feel I keep rambling on here but I am just that excited to encourage others to pick this game up.

I've heard that people say it is too similar to far cry 3. I haven't played that which might be why I find this game phenomenal.

Who genuinely thought playing some snot nosed teenager out to save his frat buddies was an engaging story? More of a good thing isn't bad, it just means a franchise found its niche. It feels like a reskin of Far Cry 3 with a very thin story. The game has a lot taken from the series before it and those things help give the game a score of 7 but it falls on it's face in so many other things.

    - The scenery looks nice but only certain ledges are scalable with a hook mechanic - Weapon shops seem very limited, needing to play for over a day just to unlock the next level

    - Weapon shops seem very limited, needing to play for over a day just to unlock the next level of a gun seems pretty excessive, especially when there are so many guys available and I will most likely never try
    - Crafting feels tacked on and unable to have weapon slots until you run around the map looking for animals seems like an odd time waster as it could of been used in other methods like boosting skills, perks etc
    - Skills are pretty weak compared to far cry 3, you only get two skill trees with 6 rows and 4 columns in each (24 in each tree) and both of them are not very good. You need to do a lot of quests to unlock the second half of the skill rows too. In far cry 3 at the end of the game you felt like a god jumping on multiple people, throwing knives, sneaking around really close without being noticed but this game you feel so limited.

Overall the game is not bad it just doesn't seem like a full package when put beside it's predecessors, it will entertain you but you will have a lot more fun with it if you forget the story and become your own character.

I'd like to see you create an entirely new engine with brand new textures that can top Far Cry 3 in only 2 years... oh what's that? You can't? Ohhhh no way.... neither can they. Anyways I'm not happy with the quick time events. Or button prompts whatever they're called.

In Far Cry 3 when you were on fire you'd take serious damage, you needed to hold triangle (or Y) to put it out. However you couldn't put it out unless the game allowed you to. You would have to wait for the prompt to come up, so you'd sit there taking damage or maybe you freak out and hold the button which causes you to heal yourself but it stops when finally the prompt shows up. That problem is 2 years old and it's still here.... why? Why do I NEED that prompt? Why do I need a prompt just to use my wingsuit? Oh yeah, you know what I'm talking about. How many times have you jumped off a cliff and died despite the fact that you vigorously hammered the wingsuit button? This happens with Takedowns as well, those prompts aren't reliable.

Imagine if Fallout 3 or NV made it so you could only bring up V.A.T.S. when the game prompts you to. Or a Sonic game that only allows you to curl up and spin when the game tells you to. Or how about Starfox 64 made the BARREL ROLL only possible when Peppy says to? It would be horrible. Why can't I have complete control of my character? During the Shangri La missions you'll come across the invincible enemies that can only be killed via backstab takedown but there's a 50.50 chance you'll get the bad animation. Where you stab him in the neck and he shrugs you off, knocking you down and you have to sit there and wait for the animation to finish with the Tiger tackling him down and biting his neck off. This animation takes so long, if there's any enemies near by they'll demolish you while you're completely stuck in this animation. You can't do anything until it's over but enemies can still kill you. This goes with normal takedowns too. I'm not saying to make us invincible during the animation but at least reduce the damage or something because there's no point in doing chain takedowns when the enemy can just constantly beat you or shoot you to death.

Finally, don't change anything if you aren't going to... change anything. The game adds quite a decisions for the story, which seems awesome but they do NOTHING. Spoilers people! Your choices don't change anything! Only thing it changes is who gives you missions. How about when you... I'll try to do this without spoilers... when you choose between earning money or the Golden Path or getting rid of bad things, if you choose to earn the money your Golden Path rebels will have better weapons and really strong vehicles with mounted machine guns on them. You would see a change, it would change something and give your choices weight. But if you chose that, even though your crew is decked out with awesome gear now, crime rate in Kyrat goes up and the people aren't happy. Or maybe if you make wrong choices the people grow angry with the Golden Path and many sign up to be Royal Army soldiers. So there would be more enemies... something that actually changes your game.

Aside from all that, this game is fun. It has a lot of the same issues Far Cry 3 had but there are improvements over the previous game. I love Min, the character is awesome. He feels so welcoming and nice but you know deep down he's a god awful person. Vas was cool and all but he was just a classic bad guy "I'm bad because I'm just... bad" with Min you see why he's doing certain things. Drugs provide a lot of money, and the Mines are all dry of resources. Religion seems pretty bad there because they treat women horribly and slaughter innocent goats for the gods which... I do not support. I actually see a character rather than just a villain. Also! Oh god I hated Jason. I hated playing as that stupid dude-bro who we all know would never last in the wild for 5 minutes. You know dude-bros right? They need their hair gel, Axe body spray, protein drinks, dubstep and Lil Wayne music. There's no way they could survive in the wild. Ajay is a much better character. And I like how Ubisoft didn't go overboard with the middle eastern stuff, they kept it respectable instead of making them look like savage evil people... you know... like Fox News does OH sick burn.

Alright well that about sums it up. I still say this game is fun and it's awesome but... in the future try and improve more on aspects of open world RPG.

P.S. Grappling-hook is awesome! Keep it in future titles please :)

If you have not tried any Far Cry series before, then this is highly recommend!

Reviewer complains about game in a series being too similar to previous games in the same series.

Oh my freaking goodness. What did you expect that a fourth Far Cry game might actually be like? Donkey Kong Country? I wonder if the same reviewers pick up GTA 5 and say "I cannot believe that GTA 5 is soooo similar to previous GTAs! What were Rockstar thinking?!!" There's no way the next

I wonder if the same reviewers pick up GTA 5 and say "I cannot believe that GTA 5 is soooo similar to previous GTAs! What were Rockstar thinking?!!" There's no way the next Assassins Creed game could be ANYTHING like the previous ones, right? And why is every Super Mario a brick blasting platformer? Can't they EVER be original? Sheesh!

Anyway, with that shot at hypocrite cloud shouters off my chest, I think that Far Cry 4 is a step up from the excellent FC3. The visual splendor is glorious. The improvements to crafting are welcome. The improvements to some enemy AI particularly around fortress domination is a welcome addition.

Far Cry 4 is more of the same. In this instance, that's not a bad thing at all. It's a highly entertaining enterprise that they have significantly improved since the disappointing FC2 looked to almost end the series. The downside are that the main storyline is a little ho hum, yet this is overshadowed by so much to do to entertain yourself that you may just want to leave as much of the main quests til last.

The truly free roam of the world is a sight to be hold. Scaling mountainsides only to bask in the crisp ranges and green valleys is very much worth it. If it looks this good on PS4 I can only imagine how insane it must look on a top end Ultra level PC.

The only main annoyance I have had with this game is the vicious nature of eagles. It's like they've become ravenous human hunters. I understand if I'm near your nest Mr. Eagle that you may become protective... but I was minding my own business on the valley floor and you had a beef with my existence? Sheesh!

If you like Far Cry games or shooters in general like Crysis, this is worth getting.
