The open world is crazy good in some areas and boring in others, i believe Far Cry 3 is better,

I bought this game for like 10 dollars, didnt even thinking about playing it,but one day i was like lets give it a try. After just few hours i was hooked. Story is fine, graphics are good, but gameplay is where this game shines. Taking camps and killing guards on many different ways is so fun. One of most fun games i have ever played,it just dont get boring.

It's like far cry 3 1.5 version. However I am perfectly fine with this. The gameplay is far cry 3 but improved. The world IS MUCH BETTER but sadly the story is a little worse. The bad guy is not as good as Vaas. Anyway it is an improved far cry 3

By far has the best atmosphere, music and landscape of all Far Crys. I love this game, and Pagan Min is one of the best things about it. Core gameplay is fun, it does not really hold up graphically and mechanically today but still fun story with multiple endings (+secret one).
Shangri La was awesome. So many good memories when thinking of FC4

This is the Far Cry 3 formula with better looking graphics and a few gameplay tweaks. A lot of copy/paste doing the same over and over and over again. Far Cry 2 and upwards have become the ultimate padding simulators which is fine if you like that sort of grind.

The problem is that Far Cry 1-5 games are contemporary setting and contemporary weapons. Far Cry Primal mixed up the setting

The problem is that Far Cry 1-5 games are contemporary setting and contemporary weapons. Far Cry Primal mixed up the setting with ancient local and ancient weapons. Blood Dragon had a sci-fi comedy theme and was the most hilarious game I have ever played. Which lead to both games being a breath of fresh air outside of the usual Far Cry contemporary format.

Don't get me wrong I am enjoying FC4 for it is a casual open world shooter. It just doesn't wow me like the spin off’s like Primal and Blood Dragon.

Far Cry 4 is a really solid game. The visuals are wonderful, especially for a 2014 game. This is a classic open-world Ubisoft game. I spent around 50 hours in this game. According to me, this game can get a bit repetitive (for exemple there are 24 outposts to capture but this is optional). Also, I became annoyed of always hearing the same messages when I was climbing bell towers or driving a car...

I think we can compare this game to Horizon Zero Dawn even though I gave Horizon 9/10. The game design is really similar. In my opinion, Far Cry 4 is fairly rated by the reviews we can see here. I would also give it around 7,7/10.

If you want to enjoy this game, I strongly recommend to play stealthy, especially when you don't have yet the best guns.

There are a few cons to consider also and it almost made me consider give this game a 7/10 rating
    1. Expect some minor glitches and bugs (for exemple, I wasn't able to complete the last Longinus mission as a black screen came up...Fortunately, that was not a main quest where the bug would have been game breaking)
    2. The story is a bit below average. I think there was a lot of potential in the main antagonist Pagan Min but the character was not developed enough in my opinion
    3. Some missions seem a bit copy/pasted....I mean I would have prefered more variety in the way the side quests are introduced

but I seriously enjoyed this game and this is one of the best open-world I saw. To end the review, here are 3 strong characteristics of this game:
    1. A lot of quality content
    2. A lot of variety in guns
    3. A lot of variety for the transportation (elephants, cars, buzzer, boat, jeep, truck, etc...)

Far Cry 4 is the series high point as far as exploration goes, giving us a world that is nearly infinitely expansive not because it’s wide, but because it’s deep. Collecting Lost Letters, spinning Mani Wheels, destroying Yalung Masks, reading Ghale Journals, and burning Propaganda Posters offered a dozen hours of fun. Doing these things just got me to venture out into the gorgeous world and see it my own way, a task that was not only endlessly rewarding but also just a damn fun time. Unfortunately, the story is not as deep as the world it takes place in and ultimately falls short of the quality of even some of the side missions that turn out to be entirely optional.

Protagonist Ajay Ghale is perhaps the weakest character of the bunch as his background is unknown, personality is dry, and purpose in the game is simply to support the story of Kyrat. Ghale is simply a thin puppet controlled by the supporting cast, to do the will of the Golden Path. While Amita and Sabal are decent characters, they have no growth and only offer the same things throughout the entirety of the campaign. Side missions such as Yogi & Reggie offer, or the Thangka quests, and even a few of the campaign missions grow old as they send you into psychedelic trips which all end up blurring together and rewarding very little. Now, Far Cry 3 had missions which sort of did the same but they were not only unique but inventive each time, and they served a purpose. Here, they just seemed to lengthen some of the missions and provide some sense of progress, a facade that ran thin. Also, Far Cry 3 got away with it because it provided us with a protagonist that worked. A protagonist that, mind you, grew throughout the story as he became a warrior to save the island from pirates and mercenaries. That sounds similar to what the story in this game ended up being but the difference between Ajay and Jason is that Jason had a distinct arc from So-Cal rich boy to selfless leader, acquiring skills along the way that helped him save people. Before Kyrat, Ajay was…somebody and after Kyrat he became…somebody else. He not only didn’t grow as a character but he shrunk, abandoning the one quest he came to Kyrat for.

Safe to say, the story was not what I hoped it would be. However, the world of Kyrat offered me nearly 22 hours of wonderful gameplay, much more than I could have expected. The side quests absolutely stood out as a high point, asking me to rescue hostages, assassinate mercenaries, hunt animals, defuse bombs, race cars, save citizens, and so much else. Really, the heart and soul of this game is the world, and the smaller characters inside of it. Playing Far Cry 4 was a great experience up until the final mission and it’s something that I will remember fondly. It is far from being the incredible video-game experience that 3 offered but it was a great time all the same.

Far Cry 4 is a good open world game, although its not as good as Far Cry 3. The story is average at best but the open world makes up for it. There are a lot of weapons and things to do in the world of Far Cry 4. Overall its a good game, I recommend it to people that don't really pay attention to narrative and are only interested in action.

After playing FC3 and Primal, this is a great game!
Yes, the story was not as compelling as FC3 but the playability, side missions, all the things they added were really welcome and entertaining additions.
Best weapon for me: The Bow and arrows. So many possibilities with the additions of Fire arrows and Explosive arrows (who needs a rocket launcher?)

    What Kind of Adventure?

    First-Person Shooter

    Was it fun?

Yes, I did enjoy this game.

    Are there any similar games?

Its hard to talk about this game and not bring up Far Cry Primal. The map itself is identical and a lot of the side quests are similar.

What did you think of the story?

I actually think the story itself was really well done and very enjoyable. Essentially the goal is to join the Golden Path so you can bring down Pagan Min who is the games villain. Pagan Min is the country’s king and you want to bring him down so you can spread your mothers ashes in a specific place on the map that is locked.

    Favorite Character?

My favorite character in the game was actually the villain-Pagan Min. He had this charisma about him, it just made him an funny and enjoyable character. In the end you do have the choice whether to kill him or let him live. I let him live because I just liked him too much.

    Favorite Mission?

The Campaign Mission is called “The Mouth of Madness.” Basically you’re thrown into this battle arena and you have to kill these waves of enemies. Its just a fun thing to do and the end of it, you end up meeting the Noore.

    Would you play it again?

    Probably not, no.

    Any Complaints?

Initially I hated the driving, the controls were wonky and hard to use. As I played the game, I got use to the driving mechanic and I was zipping around the map just fine. So if you’re struggling with the driving, keep playing and it’ll get easier.

The way I play games like this is, I run around and I unlock all of the camps and bell towers. So I run around and do all of that and then I focus on the story missions and crank them out, one after another. What sucked about doing this is, there were like 4 or 5 stealth missions in a row. I don’t mind stealth missions every once in awhile but that was too many in a row.

How many hours did you play it?

Probably around 25 hours. I know the game tells you but I didn’t look.

    2. Pagan Min. Good acting but too little screentime.

    3. Sayid from Lost is in this!!

    Cons:
    1. Poor writing in lore, journal, collectible entries. Feels like a middle school kid wrote it.

    2. Not enough of a motivation to clear the map, do side missions, activities, etc. Wildlands had a strong plot cos I really wanted to bring down the drug cartel and the missions/activities in Wildlands felt grounded in reality. FC4 felt too artificial, with stuff like Karma Events, convoys, animal hunts, fashion hunts, that felt contrived and not a natural part of the setting. After 10hrs, I lost interest and motivation to continue. I frequently asked myself, why am I doing all these stuff again??

    3. Gunplay lacks the weight and punch that are in games like Destiny, Wolfenstein, Doom, Titanfall. It felt very COD like which if you enjoy then this will be a plus for you. Gun sounds aren't impressive, and shooting feels light with minimal recoil or impact. Aim assist is too generous so I turned it off. Enemy detection is crazy annoying. Everyone will know where u are right away, and the game isn't built for stealth unlike Wildlands where u can go prone and take cover.

    4. Too many unnecessary collectibles and activities that are uninspired. Take down 150posters, find masks, find lost letters. The number at the end of each collectible fills me with dread cos it makes the game like an unending list of chores. Discovery of the world doesn't feel fluid and natural which leads to my next point.

    5. Bell towers. This mechanic MUST be abolished. No game should ever have this evil tedious mechanic in them. You need to climb 17 towers to unfog the map, and each time u climb a tower, the game SHOWS you locations to visit which all feel and look the same after my 8th tower. No sense of exploration and discovery. Just ubisoft handholding me every step of the way. Poor game design.

    6. Treasure boxes, "loot", economy, hunting of animals to upgrade wallet/ammo/etc. Gets old fast. Annoying to have these animals attack u, and they are definitely placed at towers instead of being peocedurally generated.

TLDR: FarCry4 isba supremely annoying and frustrating game to play with minimal story motivation but maximum list of chores to do.

The low point for the series, while combat is as solid as ever and the new villain Pagen Min is great if you have played far cry 3 there isn't much new here apart from the story which at best is above average.

I think what's particularly good about having a protagonist who's really laid back and not outspoken, is that you can put your own characterization on him, and choose whatever you want to do without contradicting the characters morals or motivations. He just wants to spread his mother's ashes. Brilliant. I think they took that concept and fully implemented it into Far Cry 5, but that's another review.

A lot of the story felt like fillers but there were great moments and twists, which surprised me well. The side quests however, started feeling like a chore very quickly.

I got this game at a killer price and ultimately thought that it was worth the price given the large swath of content in it. Unfortunately, the lack of an endgame makes a lot of the content feel irrelevant after a certain point, which killed this games momentum. That being said, I enjoyed the gameplay and wingsuit gliding all the way through. 7/10. Definitely worth a try.

I have played games for over 20 years and this is a mediocre experience. The developers trust that the open world will be engaging enough to keep players playing but frankly its mostly just getting from A to B. I would call this a travel simulator with some shooting and stealth in between. The characters are weak and you feel no connection with them and the story feels plaster on like a band aid.

I feel like this one had a lot of hype off that great E3 demo. The game is really just the same as previous ones, but with a new protagonist and antagonist. Adding Troy Baker was a great idea, but they don't give him much. Also the same gameplay we've seen for a while now.

I took my time getting this game because I knew it was basically just Far Cry 3: Nepal Edition, since Ubisoft loves to just rip off of themselves every single year. There isn't much I can say about the game that wouldn't just be talking about Far Cry 3.

The game is centered around Ajay Ghale, who travels to Kyrat to scatter his mother's ashes. On the way he becomes involved with a resistance movement against the "king" of Kyrat, Pagan Min, who is just Vaas 2.0, basically, except he doesn't drop out of the game halfway through and isn't replace by a significantly worse villain which the game pulls out of its ass. I do like Pagan Min more, though. Vaas was undeniably the highlight of Far Cry 3, what with being on the box art and being on all the promotional material; he might as well have been the protagonist. However, I like Pagan Min more because Vaas is more two-dimensional than Min. Charismatic, sure, but kind of two-dimensional. Pagan Min manages to be both Handsome Jack levels of charismatic as well as being sympathetic (in a psychotic sort of way) and motivated, and I won't delve into spoilers, but he actually does have the best interest of the player character in mind. He's just a bit... quirky... I guess. Sure, let's go with that.

The same praise cannot be afforded to the actual player character, Ajay. While Jason Brody in Far Cry 3 had an incredibly strong character arc, developing as a character as he goes along his journey with proper motivation, Ajay just kind of does whatever he's told. He has no personal investment in the civil war in Kyrat like Jason did against the warlords of Rook Island. Jason had a clear goal, which carried him through the entire story. He wasn't as involved personally in the affairs of the island. His main goal is to rescue his friends, not save the island. Meanwhile, Ajay bumbles his way into this civil war for basically no reason. His goal of scattering his mother's ashes doesn't take him as far as the developers forced it to, and they tried to imprint personal commitment into the player, and it falls horribly flat when most things happen for no reason and the player character isn't nearly as good as in the previous game.

However, the story itself isn't terrible. The main crux of the story is the moral choices between either Amita or Sabal, the two leaders of the Golden Path, the resistance movement going up against Pagan Min and his warlords. Sabal is conservative and sticks to traditional values like religion and culture, while Amita wants to secure Kyrat's place in the world, having a more economic view of things, seeing such things as religion unhelpful for Kyrat's future. The dichotomy between the two characters is a legitimate dilemma and I spent some serious time thinking about my choices and what the effects would be, weighing out the pros and cons of each. Both have their pros, but there are also some serious drawbacks, and it does require some thought to feel like you're making the right decision. In the end, however, all you do is choose who you wish to be in power and get a pretty terrible cutscene illustrating the worst of either, making you feel pretty bad about all your choices unless you immediately go around and shoot either in the back of the head, spoiler alert. Even Pagan Min goes "don't look at me, I don't have much going on, either" when you finally confront him. It ends anti-climactically either way you look at it, which is disappointing.

Now for what I hate about it.

Animals, for one. The animals in Far Cry 4 are specifically programmed to f*** everything up for you. You'll be scouting a base and are about to set your master plan in motion when f***ing wolves will spawn behind you and bite you, forcing you to pull out a shotgun and blast them to alert everyone in the outpost. The animals in this game are f***ing a**holes and never, EVER just leave you alone. It's to the point where it almost ruins the entire game, it's THAT bad.

Additionally Ubisoft must've thought they hit a gold mine with Far Cry 3, because Far Cry 4 might as well be called LSD the game. There are like 50 drug trips in the entire thing, with stupid dream sequences that are there for no reason other than it was a little unique in Far Cry 3, and Ubisoft treats uniqueness like the plague, wanting to stamp it out of everything they make until it's broken so hard you can put hay in its mouth and call it a race horse. These stupid drug trips are present in what seems like every three missions, and there are now two retard characters dedicated to them. It just feels so stupid when I go "oh, look, ANOTHER drug trip, that makes, what, 20 now?" It's so lame and it's done to death within a single game.

Overall, it's basically just Far Cry 3.5, and is the first sign that Ubisoft plans to run this series to the ground since they dropped their precious Assassin's Creed for a year.

If I decide to just walk around the vast landscape of this open world, I never get tired of the beautiful scenery. Kyrat is well realized, so many things to do and discovering undiscovered locations of the countrys is kinda bit dissappointing, you only discover caves and houses, which is really a disappointment with all the beautiful landscape the game has.Animals are fun to hunt and very frustrating at the same time. The game has fun vehicles to ride and it has an autodrive.Outpost is a bit more polished here than in Far Cyr 3 but clearing the outpost is easier than the previous game. The interface of the game is much better and easier to navigate. Gameplay is good too.

The story is kind a interesting but not well realised. The conflict between the two is interesting but it felt short, the characters are again interesting but we have limited time to focus on them especially the villain, what a great villain too bad his screentime is very short. The main character isn't as good as Jason, Jason is such a dork,I love him, Here Ajay is more a man and not a whiny son of a **** Jason but the Jason, I can feel his improvement or he grows throughout the game, he become more of a warrior, Ajay just starts off and kills bunch of guys and I don't feel any connection on him but hey atleast his voice isn't as irritating as Jasons.

Far Cry 4 is a fun game with a lot of borrowed elements of its predecessor but here some of it are improved and much better. It's addicting even if gets boring.

The open world is also a joy as well. Very well designed and it was fun to navigate. Graphics and sound was great too.

Besides the story, repetitive side missions and a few glitches its a good game, though it isn't a must play.

Towards the end it the feeling of repition has become stronger and this is why I can't give it top marks - I thoroughly enjoyed it though and would highly recommend it. Expand

I am generally not a fan of first-person shooter games. Most of them are just trying to be a bit too edgy in my opinion. Far Cry 4 breaks away from that stereotype by giving exploration, story, involvement in the characters, and side missions a focus and not just mindless shooting without any real gameplay.

By far my favorite part of Far Cry 4 is the open world. I sometimes didn't touch the story for days and instead ran across Kyrat, taking down the Royal Army and just seeing what I could discover. I may not see the same locations or people every day and I may not get into the same situations. The amount of variety on display is simply staggering. It's fun to just mess around in the open world before returning to the mission-based narrative.

That's not intended as a slight to the story. In fact, I found the story to be much better than Far Cry 3's cliché-driven, over the top drug fest. The protagonist, Ajay, is much more likable than Jason. I actually felt as if I was having an effect on Kyrat and its people. Far Cry 4's story was also much more my style--it is morally grey as opposed to 3's black and white story. Sometimes you may like the leaders of the Golden Path, sometimes you may prefer Pagan. I also really liked the choices dynamic where you decide whether or not you should side with Amita or Sabal. I wish that the writers took it one step further and allowed us to side with Pagan on some missions though. That would've been a real treat.

I found the gameplay incredibly addicting. The map is simplistic and straightforward as opposed to games like AC: Unity or LEGO Force Awakens (a niche example, I know) where you are flooded with so many things that you don't even know where to start and you don't know what's happening. The sense of progression in the game is very well done as well. You always feel like you can get better. There's almost always skills and weapons out there that are better than what you have now.

Far Cry 4 is a very, very good game. Though the gameplay is not changed much, the overall experience is a massive improvement over Far Cry 3. It simply cannot be argued.

The characters is okay, the character of Amita and Sabal are dicks and a**holes while the villain is more interesting and much better than them, Pagan Min is just amazing, yes not as scary and as insane as Vaas but Pagan is just conflicting, conflicting if he is the good guy or the bad guy throughout the game because of the other two who behaves more of a villains than the good guys.

There so much to do in Far Cry 4 but sometimes the missions can be very repetitive. the game is much easier than Far Cry 3, the hardest version for Far Cry 4 is a normal version for Far Cry 3. The villain even if he is conflicting and lovable (at least for me) is given short amount of time. The main character, we don't get emotional attachment or any interesting things to say and feel about him. The game gives a feeling of the same, if you play too much of the far cry franchise with just a little amount of updated game mechanics.

Far cry 4 is a good game and sure you will enjoy this.

Far Cry 4 is a typical rushed Ubisoft product that should have been better. At least this is a sandbox game that is made to be finished. The problem is the quality of the sand.

This is my second review here on Metacritic. My first gave the game a score of 6 and lamented on the limitations of the gameplay and tacked on RPG system. Playing through the game, none of these problems disappear. Not only does this game hold back some fun weapons until the final missions, it hold back the best weapons until after the final mission. However, if you do strategically play the game (using a guide) and unlock the best gear immediately, the game loses much of it's challenge. I also want to make clear that in a country full of guns, cars, and helicopters, you shouldn't have to craft your own holsters out of wolf hides.

The cut scenes are clearly the worst content in the game. I hated every one of them and wanted to punch nearly every NPC in the face. I have no complaint against the voice acting except to note that some of them were using very British accents and others were trying for an authentic Indian accent to match the fictional locale. At the end of the game someone asks the protagonist if he is going to finish the mission that brought him to war torn Kyrat. He says "it doesn't matter anymore". Indeed, hardly any of it matter.

The missions themselves are always "go to X and kill Y". There is hardly anything spectacular arising out of the sandbox. Some of the later missions are simply broken. One mission has you chasing an airplane in a wingsuit. If you touch the plane you will die, but the mission doesn't end until after a lengthy animation that shows you succeeding. Then it's back to the loading screen to try again. That mission took me 6 tries and I was ready to smash my controller. The loading screen is the most sadistic enemy in the game, especially when the enemy throws snipers, mortars, helicopter, and armored solders at you.

The combat in the game is on the cusp of being best in class AAA material. You can run and gun, perform "takedowns", and drive vehicles. Hiding and sniping also works well as enemies no longer have X-ray binocular vision. The combat fails thanks to a few design decisions. Enemies will knock you back with their weapons if you try to perform a takedown while they are looking at you. They also do this if you unlock the ability to chain takedowns. Enemies will also never fail to shoot you no matter how fast you move, dodge, and weave. This is especially annoying if you are fighting against a sniper and see the laser beam perfectly track you. This leads to fighting using the two best stategies: 1) sniping from a distance with a silenced sniper rifle and 2) firing grenades down at enemies from a helicopter. Indeed, the second option unlocks when you are given a free grenade launcher during an escort mission. Find a helicopter, fly above a location, and rain down grenades until all enemies are dead. The games tries hard to push stealth as a viable gameplay option, but stealth is hardly ever a viable option. The bow, for example, is the worst weapon in the game and I never even bothered to use fire or explosive arrows. Typical run and gun gameplay devolves into constantly using health kits and then retreating behind a rock when you have run out. In a not shell, traditional combat in the game is not fun.

The game has a 7 out of 10, so something about the game is fun. Riding elephants and stomping enemies is fun. Some of the climbing puzzles are fun. Hang gliding or wingsuit gliding is fun. Explosives are fun. Grenade launchers are fun. Luring a tiger into an enemy outpost is fun. Running at unsuspecting enemies with your knife is fun. If you like all of this, then I heartily recommend Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. That game was brilliant. Perfect game, in my opinion, and easily completed in 7-9 hours.

In summary, Far Cry 4 is a game that does not live up to its potential. The last gen look of the game doesn't do it any favors. The lackluster efforts of developers is unfortunately a growing tread especially for Ubisoft. It's as if game publishers are tired of having to make good games all the time.

Gameplay is excellent and really smooth. It's just downright fun. That's surely an essential element of any game.
I'm generally more of a fan of 3rd person games, but this has made me rethink that.

Massive open world, a really solid campaign. Loads of side quests, which can be ignored, if you like, and I ignored plenty. Personally I enjoyed the story. Good characters with some good twists. I like buddhism, in general, and I loved the contrast between the peaceful environment and ideology and some good old ultra violence! Not sure if it was intentional or not but it provoked thought in me.

First Far Cry game I've ever played, so can't comment on the progression from Far Cry 3. Ignoring that it's a solid game in its own right. I will give Far Cry Primal a go when it comes down in price.

Played a little multiplayer lately. It was ok. I'm more of single player, particularly with a game like this.

It's not cool or the critically acclaimed thing to say, but for me, it's easily on a par with GTA5 and The Last of Us.

    '9' or '10' for me.

First technically the game is beautiful, very nice colors, lights effects, sounds, textures, etc. A good looking game on PS4 and with a steady framerate and no glitch what so ever which is a nice accomplishment for a map this big with no loading time.

Concerning the gameplay its your typical Far Cry game, which is both its strongest and weakest point; chasing the wildlife, infiltrating or burning an outpost, climbing a tower to clear the map, etc. We've done those things a thousand times before and get ready to do it another couple hundred times. It's fun when you start the game but at the end its just too much of the same thing.

Same goes for the story with a charismatic antagonist and an undergoing revolution, you can count around 35 hours to finish the game at 100% ,10 of them are for the main campaign the rest for the side-activities which like said earlier are pretty repetitive.

In conclusion Far Cry 4 is a good game, but despise the original location it lacks imagination and innovations. I advise this game for any gamers who didn't play Far Cry 3 or for the ones that are looking for similar experiences.

When you want to go to a mission objectives that near you, you often discover that it's not since there is a lot of climbing or detour to do to get there. I was really disappointed in that one since i really loved Far Cry 3 1

Just too good. I am in love with this game more than women.

Movies can never be good as video games. Specially first person shooter games.

I love Far Cry 4, Doom, BioShock, Duke Nukem, Metro 2033, Left 4 Dead, Alien: Isolation.

A Very good and big game.
A great story with good game play. For a casual gamer, like me, it was a game you can play after working 10 hours. No frustration moments and there is a ton of stuff you can do if you gonna play for 1-2 hours (Collectibles etc.)
About the graphics: You get a very nice view of everything (caught myself staring mountains and stuff) 8/10 Story: Starts a little

Surprisingly I found the story of Far Cry 4 even more shallow than Far Cry 3. The so called 'choices' you are forced to make feel extremely forced and the plot itself feels more like another side quest than an actual story. The choice feels extremely unsatisfying Just to hear both sides of an argument and to actually get an idea of what the hell you're meant to be choosing between youSurprisingly I found the story of Far Cry 4 even more shallow than Far Cry 3. The choice feels extremely unsatisfying Just to hear both sides of an argument and to actually get an idea of what the hell you're meant to be choosing between you have to accept one character's just to hear the plan so to then cancel out and then accept another characters idea jsut to hear their pan only to cancel out and go back to the first plan is really poorly done, and the fact you have to accept a plan before hearing it even thought you can back out is pretty bad design..

The characters are very two-dimentional especially the main character you play, which massively goes against the character you played in Far Cry 3. The boss f the game feels far less fleshed out and less intimidating that the one in far cry 3. In fact you barely see or interact with him at all. Sometimes he'll just call you for a chat, but it's always randomly when you're in the middle of a side quest or distracted by doing something unrelated so I could barely pay attention to it.

Some of the side quests are pathetic, such as 'fashion week' that almost seems self aware at how stupid it is. I found the shangri-la side quests far more original and beautiful than the main story and just kinda of wish it was made into a more fleshed out DLC like Blood Dragon was.

The environment is beautiful and there's lots of items to collect, and lots of quests, though they are repetitious, and honestly I didn't enjoy doing a single quest, or mission in this game. But did have a lot of fun just roaming around and hunting.

The xp and 'karma' systems adds very little to game. It really doesn't seem to matter what you do in the game as long as you progress through the story and loot a lot for money.

Far Cry 4 continues to feel like a sandbox game with a story tacked-on for the sake of having one. Which is a shame, as it really isn't that hard to have characters you are actually interested in, or a story you actually can get involved in, it's just like they decided not to pay much for the mocap or voice acting so each character has such a limited screen time, and the story never seemed to be developed more than a few initial ideas scribbled on a cocktail napkin.

Fun game, poor story. Far Cry in a nutshell.

This is a great game! Far Cry 4 was my first installment to play in the series; and what a time to jump on board! The story is engaging and characters are very interesting. My only complaint would be the repetitiveness of the random side missions set throughout the world. One of the most massive and gorgeous game worlds I've ever experienced....this is a game that cant be missed.

The story missions are well paced and different, sometimes you have to push all in with a pumpgun and right next you have to sneak around, this makes the game enjoyable. The weapon/animal arsenal is huge, well ballanced and works well, ther´s a ton to discover and unlock. After 20+ hours of the main game, you can easy play the double of the time to discover caves, new spots and unlock to 100%. A very good game and one of the big franchises that Ubisoft not crashed.

This game was seriously disappointing. After Far Cry 3, I expected this to be even better, but it wasn't. The story didn't move me like Far Cry 3, and while the graphics and gameplay are definitely improved, it was just so boring (Probably because it's completely recycled from Far Cry 3). Pagan Min is a terrible villain compared to Vaas, by the way.

Admittedly my opinion of this game might be slightly skewed as I have a hard-on for Indo-Himalayan culture, but I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The only let down was a slightly generic story. Yes it was almost identical to Far Cry 3 in gameplay and functionality, but if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Far Cry 4 is a game that takes many of the good things from Far Cry 3 - the gun play, the large and beautiful open world, and the satisfying feeling to sabotage an outpost of murderous radicals by releasing savage beasts from their cages, among multiple other good factors - and tries to refine them. A lot of the time, this makes playing Far Cry 4 a grand experience! You'll have funFar Cry 4 is a game that takes many of the good things from Far Cry 3 - the gun play, the large and beautiful open world, and the satisfying feeling to sabotage an outpost of murderous radicals by releasing savage beasts from their cages, among multiple other good factors - and tries to refine them. A lot of the time, this makes playing Far Cry 4 a grand experience! You'll have fun traipsing around the Himalayan scene, climbing the bell towers to scan over beautiful vistas (which you'll see at least ONCE from the back of an elephant, with a platoon of angry soldiers on your tail) and raining death upon outposts in a miniature chopper, or soaring over a mass of trees in your wing suit. You'll spend many an hour running supplies for the Golden Path, freeing hostages, killing high officials of the Kyrati Army, racing across the countryside (with incredibly floaty driving controls, sadly), and participating in more than a few hunting challenges to better improve yourself.

    HOWEVER.

At a certain point, you may find the content of Far Cry 4 to be lacking in substance. Yes, liberating outposts and killing rhinoceroses with explosive arrows is fun! As is sneaking around multiple troops, right before you stab each of them in the stomach, taking all of their Maxi-Pads and old Cell Phones to sell on the black market. But... well, the motivation behind it all feels very lax.

Far Cry 3's story was nothing brilliant - poor character development/utilization, poor plot, and lackluster reasoning for massive explosions (which we often did not need) - and all of those traits have found their way into Far Cry 4. You WILL find some characters and plot points that are very intriguing, many in fact! But if you ever expect those characters to be given meaningful depth, or have their storylines expanded upon, you will more than likely be disappointed.

Also, as this is an open world game, you'll find multiple bugs and glitches that will inhibit your time in Kyrat. You may be climbing up a sheer cliff face, only to be dropped by some invisible force into a maw of rocky rapids below, or you'll try to jump over a gap, caught by geometry, plummeting to your death. Thankfully, because Far Cry saves rather often, your progress will not be inhibited TOO terribly, but ten to fifteen minutes lost to a glitch will be a rotten experience.

Honestly? As long as you don't expect to find a story like Bioshock: Infinite or The Last of Us, and you can ignore its many comparisons to Far Cry THREE, you should have a very fun time with this game. Just... don't overload yourself on it. It's a fun game, yes, but it's very simple to have so much Far Cry at once that it becomes mundane. Y'know what I mean?

A word of warning, however: for some reason, by default, the Playstation 4 controller has a touch pad functionality that brings up the weapon selection wheel with a swipe. This will be a problem if you have as big of thumbs as I do, because it's a very sensitive function. SO! Turn off that functionality in the options menu before you get too far into your playthrough. Otherwise, have fun in Kyrat! Say 'hi' to a Yeti for me.

Mistress Factor is at a 10 right now. I'm only about 3 hours in and this game is going to have me wrapped up for a while.

It's a beautiful game graphically first and foremost. The landscape they used is breathtaking. I'm a big FPS guy so the game play is right up my alley. Exploration in the game is amazing. You can just doing whatever quests you want and you get drawn in no matter how small it may seem. The crafting, the progression, the skill tree. It is all amazing.

The graphics are excellent and the gunplay is fun and firm. Kyrat is absolutely a beautiful Himalayan country but lacks geographical diversity. Most of the places are simply forests or grasslands.
