This review would easily be an 8 or possibly even a 9 if not for one thing, the performance. There is a major issue with frame rates in this DLC, it frequently drops to below 20 frames and occasionally even single digits. It's a pretty solid dlc - the story is trying something similar as the main game but I appreciate that the ending is a bit more flexible at least. The darker atmosphere is nice too. Amazing atmosphere and new fog/lighting effects alone bring far harbor upto the quality we expect from bethesda. Comes along with new enemies/weapons and Apparel/gear to pillage through. I have actually travelled back to the commonwealth for now i will return when bethesda patches it. No hard feelings but i can't help to feel disappointed. Expand

If you're looking for DLC that adds onto what you've accomplished in the main game be prepared to be disappointed. From talking points that skip over the fact your the head of an organization or could say more it leaves you wondering if its poor writing or just Behtesda unwillingness to go beyond simple dialog.

The new weapons and armor are boring. Most of the map is in a fog so atleast you cant see the bland empty environment, and the new enemies are as boring as could be.
Bottom line is more of the same low caliber slop Bethesda has been pandering about.

The expansion is deep with better dialogue. However, the constant frame rate drops from the fog make the dlc unplayable. It literally gives you a headache (15-20 fps...).

I experienced no frame rate issue during my playthrough.

Essentially I thought Far Harbor was good, but could use improvement. Story wise it is decent but also a little dull at times as it follows the same formula of the main game, making it feel like more of the same. Story wise it is decent but also a little dull at times as it follows the same formula of the main game, making it feel like more of the same. An interesting side mission involving a vault and a murder mystery was refreshingly different similar to Old World Blues or Shivering Isles, giving the DLC something of it's own. Just a shame there weren't more side quests like this as it is my opinion that this is what FO4 needs: Fully fleshed out side missions that work as stand alone quests, with style and tone differing from the main game.

Visually Far Harbor is very nice and pretty with a unique look and feel all it's own. Just, I did think that the fog (especially at night) made it difficult to truly appreciate the detail to the environment. Fog effect was cool though.

New enemies were okay, but not to challenging. Nice design though. Would have been nice if there was a new enemy type that required new strategies. But all of the new enemies can be defeated using tried and tested methods.

Like the new armor types, a shame there isn't a complete set of the special Recon Marine Armor. Spent ages looking for the non-existing legs, had to settle for regular Assault Marine one instead (the completionist in me weeps.) I didn't like the new weapons. While they did look cool, my existing gear was stronger and far more practical.

    Overall:
Far Harbor is a decent enough DLC with enough content to warrant its price. It's more of the same as what you got from the main game, so for those looking for more, it will quell that need. However if you are looking for something more and relevant diversity, the it falls a little short.

    Side Note ro developers:
If there is to be more DLC it would be nice to include weapon and armor display stands. The ability to reset the perk chart, once you hit lvl 60+ it would be a nice option (especially to get rid of perks you chose for the sake of trophies.) An option to disable the helmet view when using power armor (would prefer to have regular view like when you're not in armor.)

Far Harbor is a nice addition to Fallout 4. It's creepy and atmospheric it pulled me right back into the fallout universe. Generally speaking, it's an improvement on the base game in many ways. The main storyline is definitely more engaging and creative, with a number of endings available for you to choose. Unfortunately, Bethesda's attempt at adding gameplay via the asinine puzzle section did not sit well with me. Honestly, it's been a while since I did something as pointless and boring as these puzzles.Generally speaking, it's an improvement on the base game in many ways. The new enemies are interesting and provide more of a challenge to higher-level players. The new items are also pretty neat in general. The best part about the DLC, however, is probably the atmosphere -- it just feels darker and more dangerous, as a post-apocalyptic wasteland should feel.

This was a pretty good DLC. I enjoyed exploring Far Harbor but after a while the whole haunted(I know it’s not haunted) vibe got boring. The story was pretty good as I enjoy the synth storyline in the game.

After the smaller and less satisfying DLCs that came before, it’s nice to have something larger and deeper to add to my Fallout 4 experience. Although this is really just more Fallout, Bethesda hit a high note here.

Far Harbor sits somewhere between a San Francisco noir and a Stephen King thriller. There are things lurking in the fog that you've never seen before. And warring factions fight for both the fog's preservation and eradication. And see if you can stay on task long enough to find the missing girl, too. Far Harbor is a neat collection of short stories in the Fallout 4 novel.

Fallout 4 was a strong game, but it had some weak spots when it came to the visuals, the challenge, the storytelling and the RPG elements. Bethesda obviously listened to the critique, as Far Harbor actually is a tad better than the original game.
