    EVE Valkyrie is one of the best titles for PlayStation VR, and a big step forward for the genre. Everything, from the interface to the stunning visuals, immerses the player in a frantic space combat that no other title can replicate.

    PlayStation VR is all about immersion and EVE: Valkyrie does a fantastic job at handling this, and even with the presence of microtransactions, EVE: Valkyrie is still one of the best experiences thus far on PSVR.

    There is nothing quite like experiencing the catapult launch in EVE Valkyrie in VR. The game looks amazing, and the cross-play is seamless. The single player is a welcome addition, albeit a short one, and the new Carrier Assault mode shows commitment to expanding the game by developer CCP.

    EVE Valkyrie is a simple game, but keeping the scope small has allowed CCP to achieve something special. This is the space dogfighting game, and I can't imagine playing another space combat game now I've experienced Valkyrie. The microtransactions are a particularly gross negative from CCP, but it's the only misstep in a near flawless dance.

    Even with slightly less impressive visuals due to a lower resolution than on Rift Valkyrie shows how immersive and engrossing action can be if it is developed for VR and VR only.

    An enjoyable, simple arcade-style space combat game that's equal parts a great tech demo for your expensive new toy, and one that gains genuine gameplay benefits from VR...Unfortunately, a lack of maps and modes means it's hard to wholeheartedly recommend at its high price. This, coupled with some fairly mercenary microtransactions, take the sheen off an otherwise excellent PSVR launch title.

    EVE: Valkyrie is one of the better PlayStation VR experiences out there at the moment – a true Top Gun. Packing slick design and stunning visuals, as well as thrilling gameplay. For fans of multiplayer space dogfighting, this is the (un)real deal. Virtual hats off to CCP on creating a fantastic space combat experience.

    Progression and microtransaction problems aside, after a VR stint in EVE Valkyrie I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to playing a dogfighting game on a regular screen. It’s just too good at showing me what I’ve been missing by not being able to look around freely as I pursue or evade targets. The intense and movie-like moments of strafing an enemy carrier while dodging incoming fire are a thrill.

    EVE: Valkyrie triumphantly shows the promise of virtual reality. The addition of head tracking turns a pretty basic space combat game into a captivating experience, even if it might not have long legs. It’s one of the best showcases for what PlayStation VR is capable of, but also a clear reminder that the best is yet to come.

    The single player mode needs more juice, but right now EVE: Valkyrie is one of the best and most frantic experiences for PlayStation VR, showing why virtual reality has so much potential in the long run.

    I did like this game at first during the first 1 or 2 missions but once they let you go to do more missions it's the same **** over and overI did like this game at first during the first 1 or 2 missions but once they let you go to do more missions it's the same **** over and over again.

    Graphics, they look good for the 1 of the few first games on VR but once you look at the graphics around you it looks like an earl PS3 game.

    Gameplay, for me, it gave me a headache and a little sick.
    It's an ok game but it's just so repetitive and boring since you do a 4v4 and everyone is all over the place in 1 match everyone actually was following 1 other person so we had a line going around trying to shoot the guy in front.

    Here we go. I beta test this game when it came from its alpha version and I have played / tested every version from time to time and at theHere we go. I beta test this game when it came from its alpha version and I have played / tested every version from time to time and at the end every time was a led down so I will give you the facts about this game since critic here seems on a payroll from ccp.
    Game still full of bugs since its alpha: docking perimeters for some stations are wrong making bump out of station when you warp in and players take advantage of this to practically destroying your ship, an exploit ccp refuses to fix. Originally, object were able to collide in game and get damage but ccp could never fix their engine warp system so every time you warped into a space station you were blown to pieces so they designed the bump system (how unrealistic for an space sim) which by the way became another exploit were small ships are able to bump big ships so bullies can easily make you their prey. Another problem is the server can handle the numbers of players so they create the time dilation so those epic fights people talk about you spend 80% of the time almost freeze in space watching your ship get blowing into pieces in real slow motion like a photograph session. Another one, graphic simulation are wrong with most of the ships, detailed get lost since the company has never been able to fix the game cinematic of many of the ships. Exploit are just being fixed by ccp discretion of how they considered the exploit affect the game outcome doesn't matter to be a valid exploit that could screw few people fun if they keep their hardcore player base happy.
    The learning curve,you better have good friends in game otherwise, you wont have time to learn anything how to play it. The leaning curve is so hard that you wont be able to enjoy the game soon enough. You need to be an octopus to master so many details just to keep you alive. Also to earn the game currency is a tedious boring task if you are not a pirate or you arent part of a big corporation that is part of a big alliance in null sector. The game is divide in different sectors were high sectors suppose to be safe for newcomers which never is, low sector you start some decent pvp and null is where all the action but at the same time all the boredness happen depending on how big your corp and alliances are and how much of that null sector they control.
    They claim is a sandbox, well it isnt since ccp has to do some control damage especially in the game economy injected some additional variables into the game to keep it under control and the way they want. Some big corporation and alliances think they are running the game but at the end ccp do whatever they see fix to change the course of the game under the gameplay and economy itself.
    You have to be over 21 to play the game since everything is encourage here, especially scamming people since it is now an implicit part of eve lifestyle. Also bullying is pretty much common so you have to be a adult to play even though it doesnt matter if you are a mature adult or a psychopathic sociopath person. Therefore I advise concerned parent dont led their children to play this game at all.
    At the end of the day EVE has everything what is wrong in a video game today, full of bugs, being play by the wrong type of people. However, If you dont mind that, well that is your lost and their win...    … Full Review »

    I'm going to say right off that this game might be too hard for some people. When the action gets going there is a LOT going on all around you and it can be a little overwhelming. That said, it feels exactly like what it's supposed to feel like: dogfighting in space! It takes a lot of practice to get good at the controls, especially the unique weapon types between different ships, but once it clicks... Oh man... There's nothing like unleashing plasma bolts at the guy in front of you while looking back over your left shoulder at another enemy and getting a missile lock on them using your "free look reticle" and then unleashing 5 missiles which wind around and track the rear target. Then there's the support ship, that lets you heal your allies by looking at them and using your alt-fire while attacking an enemy ship with your front-facing laser. Support-ship scenario: An enemy had almost taken out an ally's ship and was closing in behind them for the kill. I was able to heal the ally while at the same time damaging the enemy enough for them to break off their attack. My (now healed) ally turned around and finished off the fleeing enemy. Moments like that happen almost non-stop.

    Non-stop is relevant with VR though. After an hour or so I do need to take a break. There's nothing wrong with the latency of the PSVR, or the controls, or anything really. It's just a TON of information to take in all and once and it's a little overwhelming without breaks. So (unlike every other game I've played to this point) I just need to take breaks or move to some other game for a while. But for all-out action or to show off your PSVR, this is fantastic - far exceeded my expectations.

    Hopefully they push more story missions with emphasis on more carrier/destroyer, etc. There's not enough of that in the game right now but it's obvious they could add it since there is SOME of it.    … Full Review »
