It would have been very easy for Digital Domain to make a low-effort Voltron knockoff, but instead Voltron VR Chronicles feels like a small slice of the show brought to life. While it is a little short, and the interactivity is somewhat basic, if you are a fan, this game is a must have. Next time, just let us form Voltron and give us sword and shield VR controls to take out the next episode’s Robeast!

Voltron VR Chronicles is a small and sweet love letter to a great cartoon series. It also makes great wish fulfillment—on par with Star Wars Battlefront’s VR Mission—for those whose childhoods were enriched by the series back in the day. If there’s a specific thing to call out against the game, I was a little bummed that there were no interactive bits involving Voltron itself. Then again, as the giant robot’s right leg, what is there to do except kick furiously? With a nice balance between in-engine cinematics and simple, yet solid gameplay, this is one of those VR games I plan to keep on my PlayStation 4 to show others the immersive capabilities of the PSVR and to keep me satiated until the next season of the show debuts on Netflix.

I was impressed with what's there, even if it's not much. It does look and sound just like you're in the show. The art, music and voices are 100% authentic. My son is a huge fan of the show, so he got a lot of excitement out of this game. It also took a bit of time to get the final trophy which asks you to beat the final boss without taking a hit. Only 0.5% of people unlocked that trophy, so it's ironic that the #1 complaint is length yet people weren't willing to spend any additional time to complete the one challenge that the game gives you to do. In any case, I do wish they would release a longer version of this as a sequel, even though that's most likely not going to happen. Full Review »

There is no score to prod you to play the game again or countdowns to put pressure on puzzle solving. My only comfort is that maybe I'll be part of the statistic that warrants a slightly longer and more feature rich sequel with equally great dialogue and visual presentation found here. Full Review »
