    Pros:
    - The soundtrack is phenomenal
    - The movement and combat is fluid, more so than any other recent game that I can think of
    - The art design is just spot on
    Cons:
    - The story isn't the best, it's not bad, but it doesn't achieve the same level of quality as the other parts that make up the game

I am a terrible shooter player, and even besides that, this gave me the full experience of smashing and shooting. Very gory. Very stressful. Believe whatever you read about this game :) especially about the soundtrack and combat being good.

Dislikes: Would have liked the demons to look a bit larger in size on the screen.

This game is hard even on easy setting. The developers were having a good time creating a game that can stress people up deliberately. They know its hard that's why they give u a sentinel armor option if u die more than 3x in a fight.. pretty insulting. Not all players play to become a mass murderer. Some just play for fun and to appreciate lovely graphic art in a game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic! This game really amplified itself. You utilize all the weapons in your inventory making everything feel somewhat important. Every enemy has a weakness and the supershotgun with grapple added massive amount to the game with just this simple mechanic. It runs great on almost every pc and with still visually stunning. Even on the Nintendo switch. I was expecting just a fast paced shooter like Doom 2016. But this game delivered in graphics, atmosphere, and gameplay, and the music is the best and makes me want to beat the hell out of demons. The story is awesome connecting the original fps Doom, Doom 2, Doom 64 to this main title a fan boys dream. They make you feel like the boss in the game like your the one to be feared. I do wish they added snap map mode. Just a fantastic game it should have been Game of the Year it delivered on every aspect and went above and beyond what I thought it was going to be. I grew up with Doom 2 playing at 5 years old and it hit my nostalgia bone like a freak train. I pre ordered it and never regretted my purchase please add in snap map mode! Expand

ID Software understands their audience. What more can you ask for over killing hordes of demons to an epic metal soundtrack. The fluidity of combat, the frenetic movement and speed, it's all years and years of a wonderful formula literally perfected. It's a great, stupid time!

Just buy it. It's like nothing else out there right now, and heart-poundingly challenging at times. Lots of good bonuses and easter eggs as usual, blah blah blah. From what I can tell it's very well optimized as well, I never experienced and chugging at all. Couple freezes and one or two bugs which forced me to reset the level (which was frustrating), but overall a complete gem.

Doom Eternal has improved on so much that made Doom (2016) special but is starkly different as well. I've heard it said that once you play through Eternal, you can't go back to its predecessor. And after two play-throughs, the DLC, receiving the platinum trophy, and with as much adoration I have for Doom (2016), I hate to say I agree, to a degree.

Doom Eternal is faster by every measure
Doom Eternal has improved on so much that made Doom (2016) special but is starkly different as well. I've heard it said that once you play through Eternal, you can't go back to its predecessor. And after two play-throughs, the DLC, receiving the platinum trophy, and with as much adoration I have for Doom (2016), I hate to say I agree, to a degree.

Doom Eternal is faster by every measure of the word. More demons necessitate more mechanics to move around each arena. The additions of dashing and the meat hook are two new ways to escape, or pursue, your enemies. Dashing allows you to escape a tight spot or bash opponents while the meat hook can be used to quickly reel into a fleeing enemy or swing yourself into the air like a pernicious pendulum. These tools, once mastered with the rest of the mostly-familiar weapon wheel, allow you to become a greater and more effective deliverer of destruction than in Doom (2016).

However, with an enhanced arsenal, Doom Eternal meets your power with greater demons and more difficult scenarios. New additions like the pain elemental, prowler, carcass, and more offer new challenges in discovering their weaknesses and exploiting them when faced with near-overwhelming forces. One of the various skills needed to excel in Eternal is learning which enemies are a priority to kill because if left alive they will make managing the forces of hell even more of a nightmare.

It's this core mechanic of receiving a new tool, meeting a new challenge, and learning how to use it to your advantage, that makes Doom Eternal so much fun. Towards the latter half of the campaign, this cycle tapers off and culminates by letting you loose on the forces of hell to test how well you can play.

For all the game excels at, it seems the developers focused so heavily on how it plays, not in vain by any stretch, but they neglected some other aspects which, in my opinion, made Doom (2016) so special. I love lore: anything to get me immersed in a game. Doom Eternal very much so expands on that, but almost to a fault. If you read my Doom (2016) review, the Doom Slayer's penchant to ignore the "would you kindly" archetypal voice is such a fun and freeing experience. It's a type of immersive humor that fits with the unknown that is the Doom Slayer. In Eternal, however, the slayer's character comes off nearly neutered. He follows orders, is more sparing, and not enough computers are smashed for hampering his wrath. His visor, to say the least, has been internally illuminated in cut scenes to reveal the face of a man behind the praetor suit that once felt immortal and mysterious. What seems like small changes serves to diminish the power felt when driving the main character. In addition, the environments and demon models in Doom (2016) felt more grounded in a dark reality than the more cartoonish ghouls of Eternal. I preferred the grotesque post-humanoid appearance of the mancubus in its predecessor to the more toned-down, less revolting model in this installment. The role that Dr. Samuel Hayden played in the first of the reboot dilogy is also severely less impactful in the second.

For the immersive lackings that the game holds, the gameplay more than makes up for it. There isn't much time in between fights to think on much else than how to survive. Doom Eternal is a frenzied orchestra of weapons, enemies, and gore with a core gameplay mechanic that encourages quick-thinking, tactics, and skill.

You have a dash and if you don’t utilize that dash and chainsaw then your dead because you run out of ammo so fast that it’s not funny because unlike 2016 there are so many enemies on one screen at a time there can be a Baron of Hell, a Mancubus, and like 5 other strong demons at one time. Then I was so close to rage quitting so many times because of one demon there Marauder when you first fight this guy you are still starting out and he so much different then the others because you can’t be too close to him or you get shot by his shotgun but you can’t be too far away or he throws a axe projectile you have to stay in the sweet spot of him and wait until his eyes glow to shoot him yeah you can’t shoot him regular he blocks your bullets. But other than that it’s just bullet dancing and that helps with the music oh my god the music I stoped after I died sometimes just to listen to the music it brings so much energy just to a regular fight and I love it. But, challenging boss fights and fun fights in general made up for a LOT. Killing demons was brutal, as it should be, and exploring levels for secrets was kind of fun. If you are a fan of getting all trophies, achievements you do have to gather them all on one save slot which isn't TOO difficult to do. Which does, unfortunately, make for some low replay value.

There are also a LOT call-backs and shout-outs to other Doom games and media, so if you're a fan you'll enjoy those.

Overall, Eternal is better in some ways than Doom 2016 and worse in others like I mentioned before. I'd still say it's a solid 8/10, however.

After 20+ hours and the final battle I felt literally exhausted. The gameplay pace is insane especially on the higher difficulties. Demons slaying is super satisfying. New strategic layer demanding using different weapons against different monsters/weak points is an improvement imo.
While Doom 2016 looks and feels more serious/realistic, this one is a pure entertainment!

Loved it's art direction, color palette, arcade-ish approach to pick-ups and UI. If you want some true si-fi horror go (re)play Dead Space, where you are constantly haunted... In Doom Eternal they are haunted, because a Doom Slayer entered the facility!
Loved both Doom 2016 & Eternal but find the latter more fun and addicting.
Why 8/10? For two reasons: forced platforming/jumping often annoys, and the game is too short for the money (paid 99 eur for deluxe). More end game activities and/or progression would be appreciated. I know it sounds like a heresy to orthodox gamers, but RPG elements & loot would fit perfectly such game as Doom Eternal. That would truly make it eternal!

The game is great, is it perfect? I don't think so.

I'll start by saying, DOOM Eternal is different from its predecessor in many ways and for sure it takes some time to adapt. Sadly, while some things are for the better - some are just pointless changes that just take away from otherwise great experience. The biggest positive for me was increased difficulty and what felt like better

I'll start by saying, DOOM Eternal is different from its predecessor in many ways and for sure it takes some time to adapt. Sadly, while some things are for the better - some are just pointless changes that just take away from otherwise great experience.

The biggest positive for me was increased difficulty and what felt like better AI - way more aggressive and way more punishing for dumb plays. I completed the game on Ultra Violence difficulty and it was really hectic and intense. The amount of enemies being thrown at you is literally insane and it's a real blast to kick some demon ass in such a fast paced fashion. And I love Marauder enemies - yeah, hate me now.

However, there are some problems and I'll try to explain why this is not a 10/10 game as universally praised

First of all - platforming. While I'm totally fine with that in small doses - some levels literally had more platforming and than fighting arenas and kicking demons ass. It really dragged and stalled the game for no good reason and it's not like platforming is that well done. In some sections it didn't feel very intuitive and for me it never felt cool stuff to do.

Next up we have bosses - I simply found them boring with repetitive mechanics. For two final bosses - which are basically major game's bosses - you repeat same pattern and what's worse, it's not that much about the boss as controlling adds spawns and keeping up your ammo stock. It just didn't feel so exciting or interesting to be honest.

The we have bloated progression and a lot of it is completely useless and seems like it was done to add illusion of complexity - while only gun mod and health, ammo caps is all that really matters. I mean more doesn't really mean better, when it's just for the sake of having more of something.

Finally - I have some criticism on the pace of first 3-4 mission. With the new system, encouraging use of variety of guns - it just works badly when you have just 2-3 guns available early on, no increased ammo cap (crucial to have better fight flow) - because it feels very disruptive and kinda slow. Thankfully the tempo picks up as you progress further, acquire more weapons and mods as well as you upgrade ammo cap.

Overall - it's a blast and absolutely worth buying even with a bit lackluster multi-player mode (but I didn't get the game for MP, so this wasn't even focus in the review). It's not perfect and some changes could have been handled better, but one cannot deny that this is hell of a shooter game. I don't know about you - but in my book 8/10 is a solid score meaning you can just go and grab the game right now at full price and get you worth back with hours of intense gameplay.

Simply put: This is just much MORE of what you got out of the first Doom, but it's bigger, larger, prettier and meatier.

Controls are tighter than ever, precision and agility is still essential, every single weapon feels brutal and tasty, level design is clever, enemy variety is still as good as in the first game, graphics are amazing, the pacing is brilliant and the soundtrack packs an even bigger punch than before. Everything just works amazingly well! Doom Eternal's gameplay is so well done, that makes its flaws feel very small. Hell, even the control scheme makes every mechanic seamless to use. And there are A LOT of mechanics to learn, use and master.
Everything feels much more epic and I think that this happened not only due to the precise and frantic gameplay, but also because of its new charm and aesthetic. Cutscenes are way more cinematic, Doomguy's portrayal is better, each level feels different, with beautiful/grotesque environments throughout the entire campaign, glory kills are satisfying to pull and the sense of scale in each of the 13 missions is incredible.
Even the story is better. It's still forgettable and lacks character, but it's a bit more interesting than before, certainly weightier and perfectly fits with the context of... Well, Doomguy's endless demon killing spree!

Doom Eternal's flaws are almost the same as its predecessor. Since it got bigger and tried different things, some issues were a bit hard to ignore, despite the stunning time I had with it.
    - Platforming moments felt clumsy and a bit out of place -
Doom's gameplay is so polished, that when something goes wrong, it's very easy to notice. The platforming sections, for example, felt janky and kinda off.
    - Some levels were VERY long -
I like the larger nature of this game, but I prefer Doom 2016's more streamlined missions a lot more. They aren't SUBSTANTIALLY bigger, but they can get a little bit tiring.
    - Collectible/Secrets overdose -
One of the things that I did not care for in Doom 2016 were its collectibles and secrets. Here, the feeling of completing a hidden challenge or finding a secret is nice, but they focused TOO MUCH on it. Everything is optional, but when your entire fortress is basically a collectible sanctuary, it's hard to ignore. I much rather focus on demon slaying.
    - The Marauder -
**** this guy. He is broken. ESPECIALLY on the hardest difficulties. Just nerf him or take him out, because he can EASILY disjunction your experience.

    I HIGLY RECOMMEND Doom Eternal!
Whether you played the first one or not, this game is fantastic!
Play it now, unless you have a problem with FPS games, blood or demons.

    Doom Eternal
    Great and greatly overrated
Doom Eternal features 2 modes, an online competitive mode where a demon slayer is heavily unfairly matched with infinitely spawning player controlled demons that just isn’t really fun unless you’re on the demon side, so imam just throw that mode away and focus on the reason everyone is buying doom eternal.. its hefty 17 hour long demon filled campaign, and this campaign is really great… here you play as a demon slayer, taking on zombies and demons on earth as well as mars, going through a fairly linear campaign, but one filled with traversal and platforming, which is a very welcomed change.. however I feel this new addition takes a back seat to the straight up demon slaying, which on paper sounds fine, but ultimately it leads to an incohesive feeling world that feels like a bunch of random video game elements stapled together.. and this is Doom Eternals biggest issue…. Nothing feels purposeful, it feels mindless and repetitive from start to finish, none of the levels are memorable, the combat is constant, never giving you a chance to breathe or explore, it’s a headache… playing through doom eternal is an enjoyable headache.. but still a headache…
combat that time around is much more enjoyable though. Enemies having their weaknesses, making almost every battle feel like a puzzle despite feeling mindless at the same time, rarely leading to frustrating encounters.. but don’t get me wrong.. those encounters do exist.. though rare.. theres one over powered enemy specifically that kills all and any fun youll be having with this game in an instant… more specifically in one area of the game where youre trapped with him and a snake enemy, and no ammo or health really around… which brings me to another gripe I have with doom eternal, its health and ammo situation… ammo health and armor really feel nonexistent in doom eternals world, instead the game relies on you using your abilities to obtain armour and health, you can catch enemies on fire and freeze them, you have chainsaw enemies for ammo… but I just feel like id much rather have ammo drops after killing enemies than forced to find a small one I can chainsaw..wait for that chainsaw to refuel and do it again… the chainsaw system in general is a nonsensical mess… you can store up to 3 chainsaw attacks, however there is no enemy you can kill with 2 fuels… so whats the point… theres 1 and theres 3… and then you have enemies later on that cant be attacked with the chainsaw at all because theyre too big… these enemies should be reserved for 3.. and the middle large enemies killed with 2.. it just leads to fuel hording, and the payoff is never worth it.. but that can be said for this games weapons as well, youre given amazing weapons towards the end of the game, but rarely any fuel to use them, which begs me to ask.. why even give them to me in the first place.. especially the sword… this item didn’t come into play and was basically unusable until the final boss… but if this was that weapons only purpose, I suppose that’s okay… but I feel if that is the case you should’ve just waited longer to give it to me… All in all I do feel Doom Eternal is a great game, its fun zombie slaying to heavy metal, theres a crazy amount of weapons, and different ways to upgrade these weapons, customize them to your gameplay… but just don’t believe the hype… go into doom eternal expecting a great game and not an amazing game or a masterpiece and you surely wont be disappointed…
But if you go in expecting game of the year, youre going to get smacked with level design and gameplay that feels plucked out of the old god of war games with guns stapled to it
    I give Doom Eternal
    an 8/10

The campaign is amazing no doubt, way better level designs and new features, challenges, demons and skills to use. But I missed the PVP mode and snapmap from 2016 Doom. Not really into the multiplayer in this one. Though Singer Player is the main part of Doom so I didn't tak away too much point.

I played DOOM Eternal in 2020 and thought it was a great game that I liked.

Also, it was stated that this game wouldn't have microtransactions, but later on they added cosmetics that could be purchased with real money which shouldn't

The best of Doom Eternal is when you're double-jumping over a dozen demons, shooting grenades and mini-rockets and trying to keep track of all the projectiles coming your way plus where you can go in a sprawling 3D environment filled with gaps, bridges, springboards and the like. You can get to a point where you don't think, just KILL, and it feels incredibly thrilling. What keeps this game from being an absolute masterpiece is when things don't click like that, and you're instead just left frustrated and unfulfilled.

The game's essentially about two things: exploration and combat, with combat obviously being the most important of the two. On that aspect Doom eternal does a pretty good job of things, mixing a respectable variety of enemies and giving each a specific strategy to fight. Throughout the entire game you're constantly increasing and improving your arsenal and the feeling of becoming better at destroying demons is definitely there. That being said, some weapons still feel weak and uneventful, so much so that I find myself literally never using them (I'm looking at you, rocket launcher); can't say I'm a huge fan of the flame belch either, again because it feels like such a weak and unassuming move, something I only use out of a feeling of obligation. The solidity of the demons is also understandable, but it feels a little unbalanced too. The slayer might not be the biggest guy in the world, but he should be at the very least capable of pushing aside the basic zombie enemies. Instead, it's ease for demons to basically lock you in place by surrounding you until you're completely disoriented with the flashing lights and explosions, though, in the game's defense, maybe I'm at fault for not keeping better track of my surroundings. Also, it's hilariously evil that the BFG is just assigned as a regular weapon in your rotation that you can pull by accident with your mouse-wheel and once you've clicked it you're committed to the shot even though the ammunition for it is so limited it's basically a special ability like the laser sword.

Traversal is about as good as it can be, considering the fact that it's a 1st person shooter, but here's the thing: you've given me so many navigational moves that I can basically cover the entire zone without touching the ground once, and there's fifteen different secrets, including potential weapon upgrades, scattered throughout the level. Of course I'm gonna check every goddamn corner! And that's why it's upsetting when you hit random invisible walls, or ledges you can't actually stand on because the game doesn't recognize them as floors. Furthermore, every level has different stages or sub-zones without clear identification for where they start and where they end. You can rarely tell if you're just advancing to the next room or if you're gonna cross a threshold and suddenly there's a cutscene and the path back is now blocked or worse, the level's over. If it's the later, then you've now missed all those collectibles you still wanted to try and reach, and you either need to start the level again or use the fast travel mechanic, which just isn't all that fun.

At the end of the day, my complaints about the game are all like this, just little annoyances here and there that keep me from enjoying the game as much as I could. I'd still recommend it to anyone who's into FPSs, and my 8 score is closer to a 9 than a 7, no doubt.

story: the story is very vague in this game this time but in short the slayer has a ship and can teleport anywhere to reap and tear demons while learning some things about his past

    pros:
the amount of details from the minor things like demon face expression to their skin and bones breaking and tearing after you shoot them is just astonishing and don't let me get started on the things that are going on in the back round of the map that's just a new level of detail

game play is flawless and so enjoyable i cant get enough of chainsawing demons shooting missiles at them and tearing their heads off

most of the glory kills are just amazing and grotesque

the map is super easy to understand and really easy to use

every map looks really unique and has a ton of secrets for you to find

every demon design is superb and amazing

the game runs smooth even on console which is really hard to manage

THE MUSIC IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL mick gordon made such an excellent job with the music i can easily say best video game music of 2020

    cons:
i really didn't like the new approach they did with the game by basically making it more arcadeish unlike the 2016 version it kinda bugged me because it felt like i'm playing unreal tournament sometimes

the whole interface design and color they did looks really ugly

the gun design in my opinion isn't that good compared to the 2016 version even the unmakyer the new ultra gun they added looks really boring compared to how it looked in the original doom game

and about the glory kills yes i said that most of them are amazing but that's most of them the other bigger half is you cutting them up with a blade which is kinda lazy in my opinion because i would prefer the slayer just killing them with his hands and by doing that the glory kills become unique to each demon and not just cutting them in half and that's it

in conclusion the game is such a blast to play with new demons and crazy metal music even if there are some cons here and there this game does deserve high praise because even now after i finished it i cant stop playing because of the enjoyable gun play which leads me to my final score my score to doom eternal is a 8.5 out of 10 i really think that you as a player should buy this awesome game

There is more platforming in the game this time around and I enjoyed it for the most part. it added some variety and made sure that the gunplay would never get stale. Also there are more bosses this time around but I don't think they're actually better than the ones in 2016. Overall, in my opinion this game is enough of an improvement in level design and variety, playstyle choices, gunplay and artistry for it to be a better game overall than the 2016 reboot. Expand

I like the try on creating a more dense and indepth game world around the doom slayer.

Execution-wise D.E. feels like a mix of Doom 2016 and Q3A. They finally incoporated all the fast paced mechanics and induced it with the Doom world. The beginning feels very harsh and can be bothering for newcomers. After you geared up a bit and know the mechanics and the gameplay cycles its getting way better but stay intense. I only played it on Hurt me plenty, but it felt the appropriate mix of challenge and fun.

Some of the mechanics feel a bit overused and unnecessary. I m no fan of the huge section where you have to jump, grab, transfer and crawl around. Some are really frustrating for me and I feel it could be very painful for beginners. Weapon masteries are okay-ish same goes to challenges. With a bit of exploration and patience you will be maxed out around level 10/13 which feels good. The game feels hard to handle on console because you enemies are rock, paper, scissors-like on the equivalent weapons. So you have to switch around a lot and in between kill fodder for replenish of armor and ammo. This could ve been reduced a little bit I feel in general.

The weapons are fun, levels are huge, intense and also interesting in design. I liked them a lot. Playtime is pretty long for campaign only with around 15hrs. Performance on my PS4 Pro with SSD was outstanding. I had one bluescreen, the rest was fine, no bugs at all. Graphics are really good and loading times were quick.

I want to give this game a 9 but it only deserves 8 points because of said shortcomings. Some enemies and game loops are obviously not optimized for consoles which is a bit sad. Maybe they can enhance this a bit in a successor and lower the grind-gunplay. Then this game would be a 9-10 for me.

Great gore, could of had even more in my opinion but still satisfying. Great weapons, good challenges. It reminded me of Metroid Prime sometimes which was awesome. This is the best FPS I've played since Doom 2016, it's challenging and makes you think more than most FPS.

The new Battle Mode I didn't like at first but I stuck with it and eventually got good at it and had a lot of fun with it, except a lot of people would quit if they had to be the Slayer which was annoying sometimes. It's unique but I got over it after about a week and unlocking all the Series One content. I enjoyed Doom 2016's multi-player mode much more in hindsight.

The story works for what it is but is ultimately not what you cane for and the game treats it as such, it's all over the place and pretty crap but really that's not why you play doom.

Now the multiplayer is fun too but lacks some character? I dont know how to describe it but it's only fun for a few moments but then begins to drag for a while. The only thing holding this back from a 10/10 is the removal of Snap Map, Snap Map is what gave DOOM [2016] replayability and near endless content, but without the mode I find no reason to keep playing this after the campaign is complete. Doom Eternal improves upon what was in Doom 2016 and then some, the movement has been improved greatly with the new dash ability which made demon killing easier and cooler too. The weapons and the mods have been overhauled giving more variety in my demon killing arsenal, compared to Doom 2016 where I normally stuck to a certain weapon, mainly the super shotgun. But in Eternal, every weapon and mod has its use, the precision bolt having probably be biggest glow up due to effective against certain enemies and enemy parts, and also has a satisfactory pop sound with every headshot.

the story of Doom eternal is Pretty good, I wouldn't say the story blew me away but it was definitely good, but I didn't really come to Doom Eternal for a story, as John Cormack said himself "Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."
But one of the main driving factors for my excitement for Doom Eternal was the soundtrack by composer Mick Gordon who once again knocks it out of the park, the soundtrack gets you pumped and gets you ready to rip and tear, the mixture of electronic and heavy metal as well as a heavy metal choir occasionally appearing in certain tracks really gets the adrenaline pumping and makes you feel unstoppable, my personal favourite tracks from the soundtrack are Gladiator or BFG10000.

The demons of Doom are back and meaner than before, with new demons joining the party too. personal favourites of mine like cacodemon and Barons of hell looking better than ever, though my all time favourite demon the Revenant didn't seem to get that sort of treatment, actually looking better and creepier in Doom 2016 compared to eternal.

Though this game is really good, there are a few things I wasn't a fan of unfortunately. I wasn't a fan of the marauder enemies, now I can imagine there will be those who say that I should just "git gud" and you’re probably right, they just frustrated me a bit too much sometimes but I might have to possibly try another method I haven't thought of to easily dispatch them. The other complaint that I would have would be having certain aspects of the levels that slow or limit the slayers movement speed, I just feel it's weird to have the game basically telling you to do things fast and punishing you for being slow to then slow you down for certain parts which just sit well with me for some reason. these are little complaints I have but besides that there isn't much wrong I can say about it, the gameplay and mechanics are basically perfect I can't fault them.

the multiplayer is an interesting idea which I hope id software keep building upon and don't forget about it, I don't think theres much of bias on who's more likely to win, slayer or demon. though it does feel great playing the demons with their unique abilities. from all the Battlemode games I've played, I've had about equal demon and slayer game time and had similar win rates as I kinda felt it was hard to lose really, I don't know if the people I was getting paired against were just trying it out for the first time but I have lost a match yet. But despite that I still like the game mode and is a much better multiplayer mode than the multiplayer in Doom 2016 and I'm glad the tried something new.

Overall, Doom Eternal is probably my favourite fps game of this console generation, its weapon mechanics and gunplay are faultless, the music gets you pumped the slay demons, the demons are challenging and fun to fight against, and the multiplayer is a nice change of pace compared to other multiplayer modes.

Gameplay features is the crux of the issue, while expanding on gameplay from last game, it is clear that certain elements are not executed well. Climbing and mobility play a larger role in this game but the novelty wears off quickly as you realize how difficult platforming is when dashing is unpredictable, climbs sometimes do not work and platform set up is confusing. Arenas are larger and bring much more variety, however Doom is suppose to make you fell fast and juggling killing demons and traversing lava pools, acid and not falling off the map is annoying. Difficulty, the game has spiked in difficulty demons hit hard, but at the same time it becomes an overwhelming amount of demons and found myself dying a lot despite this now being my first fps nor first doom title. Boss battles that were once too easy are now progressing to too difficult with the final 2 bosses, I had to equip sentinel armour, reducing incoming damage and gives you full hp and armour,in order to complete them. Story, the original was simple and honestly enjoyable: demons have awoken because corporations got too greedy and got hell energy, stop demons. This game story while also simple relies too heavily on the lore of the world that was lightly established in the first title. While I will admit, I understand it, I can see how some may become lost. Overall, while being a fun and exhilarating experience I much prefer Doom 2016 than this new release. However, I will happily enjoy more Doom in the future. Expand

Love the game, but there is one thing that gets me. Where DOOM 2016 was all about rampaging through hordes of demons this game has a lot more platforming and story based cut-scenes. That was not what I expected from the game, but it isn't a bad thing at all. DOOM Eternal is bigger, badder and different. If you liked DOOM 2016's single player and just need more! then this is a winner, don't be in it for the multiplayer though or any of the extra features that DOOM 2016 has now, such as the map maker or classic multiplayer modes. Note: the Dark-Souls style invasion multiplayer IS NOT IN THE GAME YET

Single player: Lack of features compared to current DOOM 2016, as well as believe it

Note: the Dark-Souls style invasion multiplayer IS NOT IN THE GAME YET

    Single player:

Lack of features compared to current DOOM 2016, as well as believe it or not an even more basic story with a shorter campaign, lots of Lore and backstory to read though which is very cool. The arsenal is sick but still just a redesigned DOOM 2016 arsenal with a different swing on each weapons mainly through the returning weapon mods system. Isn't as "Dark" as DOOM 2016's Mars and Hell setting and moves towards a . No map maker mode this time which is a shame for me.

    Multiplayer:

Classic pvp Multiplayer modes has been replaced with a pretty basic 2 Demons vs Slayer mode, fun as as a gimmick for a few hours with friends but you'll have to really be into either the team based game-play of the Demons with a pal or just love the uphill fight of battling the two coordinating demons

I love this game! It’s amazing fast paced, great story, amazing level design, great weapon choices, and secrets you would want to find. Battlemode is a lot of fun playing as the Slayer and or Demon, the entire mode is balanced. The plasma rifle could kill a mancubus faster than this gun, the super shotgun kill the murarder faster than this gun. Overall this game IS AMAZING! I totally recommend this game I bet you will enjoy it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When you have to look up on Youtube how to get around clunky game mechanics, your game is functionally broken. Is the game good? Hell yeah! But it does have it's share of mechanics that are just frustratingly broken that prevent you from progressing. After the first one, it was no big deal. But now that I am running into number two, this is a problem. This should not be in a game like this. The first one was the mechanic referred to by some as "monkey bars". You had to jump up two of them in a row on the outside of a building and then boost across to the other side, grab a wall and then boost back. I spent dozens of times trying to just go around the corner because I just didn't see the wall where you can cling on the other side. Ok, I thought. No big deal. Annoying, but OK I didn't see it. Now the second one happened. It was in the Taras Nabad pool where you can't melee to break the wall, but you have to underwater dash or something. I tried it a few dozen times to look it up on Youtube and was once again very frustrated and annoyed that my progression was being held back because the game designers made some stupid decisions. Yes, Bethesda, there were some stupid decisions made here. And it annoyed me so bad that I shut the game off and I'm not playing it.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game. Just be prepared to get frustrated and annoyed at some moments with clunky game mechanics that will prevent progressing in the game. Why, Bethesda, why?

When I saw the first level I was fascinated, but later - playing on - a shadow of doubt appeared.
Graphics is fine, displayed smoothly. I wouldn't complain about bright colors. Finally everything is not so dark and gloomy and I don't have to strain my eyes. Besides, the old Doom games were quite colorful and used bright colors as well, especially the firstt Doom from 1993.

Fight is amazing, it's pure Doom. Ripping hordes of demons is still satisfying and frenetic pace won't let you take a breath untill the last demon turns into a bloody mud. By the way, why demon corpses dissapear? They are like my trophies! I relish staying on dead bodies of defeated enemies, let the stay!
Despite lots of negative opinions I think AI of the enemies is ok. It's true, they are rushing to you all the time, but it puts the pressure and makes the battles even more hectic. Monsters chase you when you are bleeding really bad. They can cooperate for example using energy shields to protect the faltering. The game is really difficult. I'm not a skillful player, but I finished Doom 2016 on "Hurt me plenty". Here I got my a** kicked, died hundreds of times. Here is the biggest bummer of the game - lack of ammo. All the time, even with full ammo upgrades. It hinders even the most epic battle when you have to withdraw to scavenge for reinforcements. The one who came up with this idea should be impaled in infernal flames. Puzzle element doesn't bother me.
I hoped levels would be more complex. Overall, areas and especially backgrounds look great, but when you delight your eye, they have little to offer. Maps are still linear. I would like to see levels like Doom 2 - full of windows, balconies, corridors, rooms - crammed full of enemies. But NO. You are still fighring in fight-rooms. Sequence: "big room on the map - teleporting enemies - battle - checkpoint" is boring. Sometimes I felt like in Croc: Legend of the Gobbos or Tomb Rider. I'm affraid Bethesda doesn't hire talented level designers.
Music is great. It's exactly what I supposed to hear sawing bodies in halves. The orgy for every heavy metal fan.
All in all, I had a good time playing Doom Eternal. I didn't get exactly what I wanted, maybe my expectations were too high, but finally it's DOOM.

I enjoyed the ending, but it was so long. I had to wipe the sweat off my forehead. But it felt so good to be done.
