    It's an improvement of Doom 2016 there are some things that are a bit weird like how when you run out of ammo you have to use your chainsaw but this is easily bypassed by aiming properly.

    Before I start the actual review, let me debunk some false info from overly negative reviews, because people are clearly not aware about the depth that this game has to offer.

    People keep claiming that they constantly have ammo issues.
    While it LOOKS like it initially, when you actually play the game, you will notice that in Eternal, the Chainsaw refills automatically in a short amount of time.
    This allows you to constantly use the chainsaw to refill ammo. Once you get in the rythm, the chainsaw becomes a great tool with actual purpose, that you use during battle to keep yourself stocked on ammo.
    This also eliminates slow pacing when looking around the map for more ammo. Making the game FASTER PACED. They solved an issue that was present even in the classic Doom games.

    With that out of the way,
    I can easily say that this is one of the best games to have come out in a super long time. Like literally the last 10 or so years.
    And I dare to say that this is the best first person shooter ever made at this point.

    This game simply makes 2016 look like a concept demo.
    It takes everything that was already amazing about 2016, and perfects it with more faithful enemy models, better music, better level design with a lot more things to find, and more fun and thoughtful gameplay.

    Level design:
    Huge and super oldschool. A lot less linear than 2016, which is GREAT. more sections are revisited, but you never feel that you're going the wrong way, because the player is being led in the right direction with ease.
    Enemies are placed more around the level, and not every encounter feels like a room full of spawning enemies.
    Although there are still big arena fights, there is now a way better ratio of traditional enemy placements and encounters placed in the map.
    Furthermore the amount of exploration that the player is allowed is even better than before. And it rewards you with a ton of goodies to find in the maps. Even optional extra fights, like fun and challenging "slayer gates" that take you to a seperate challenge arena. Rewarding you with one of the best weapons in the game if you finish all 6 of them.

    Gameplay loop:
    A lot of people will probably complain about the difficulty.
    Eternal is a harder game than 2016, and requires the player to put more thought into his actions.
    This is exactly what made classic Doom so great, the amount of thought you have to put in fighting.
    Target prioritization as always, but now you are also managing your resources.
    Chainsaw for ammo
    Glory kill for health
    Burn for armor
    These tactics become essential on harder difficulties, and keeps the player on a constant thinking process on how to deal with the next enemy.
    Combine this with the target prioritizing, quick reflexes, double jumps, new dashing maneuvers, a hotkey for shooting a frag or freeze grenade, and the "meat hook" chain on the super shotgun, and you have a lot more maneuverability and tools at your disposal to deal with these new tough enemy encounters.

    Weapons:
    Doom Eternal features a good collection of weapons that you would expect in a Doom game.
    Along with the upgrade system that 2016 had.
    Most upgrades are similar to the ones in 2016, some are even better and massively improved.
    They all feel great, and there is plenty of reason to use every single one of them for different situations.

    Enemies:
    As mentioned before, the enemy designs are very faithful to the classics.
    A lot of them even have added weakpoints that you can shoot at to disable a certain gun. Like the Revenant rocket launchers or the Mancubus flame cannons.
    Some enemies also have a certain weakness to certain weapons, but it isn't too crucial to use that to your advantage.
    There are more enemies than ever, they made some annoying ones more fun to fight, like the shield enemies. But have also added some other challenging ones that can give the player some real trouble in combat. Lots of variety to rip & tear.
    As for the bosses, I will not spoil what they are, but I can safely say that they give the player a real challenge, make the player strategize on dodging attack patterns and striking the boss at specific moments when they are vulnerable.

    Other:
    Graphics are great, but not too important. But the game looks gorgeous over all, just like 2016 did.
    A bit brighter and a lot less red everywhere. Lots of cool things to see in the distance.

    Everything sounds great, from enemies, to guns, to the hillarious headshot pops that sound like a bottle being opened. Music is even better than in 2016. For me, 2016 had good music, but could feel a bit repetetive at times. I feel like there is a lot more variety in themes here, making the songs more recognizable and fitting in the areas that you hear them. This game is the perfect sequel that will go down in history, and sets a new standard for FPS. If this game bores you, turn up the difficulty.    … Expand

    One of the greatest gameplay experiences in gaming. The thrill of acrobatic violent combat is brilliantly choreographed by if Software’s masterpiece game. Battlemode is even more frenetic, whether you are the Slayer or the demons he slays.

    Платформинг иногда напрягает тем что ты не видишь изначально свой путь, прыжки надо делать буквально с края, а время у тебя ограничено. Вероятно это задел на препрохождение и спидранеров.

    Ближе к концу игры механики становятся более менее понятны, я привык к контроллеру и игра начинает раскрываться, пауки уже не так напрягают, напрягают эти долбанные зеленые глаза.

    В целом сиквел понравился, больше всего, все это лучше. Rip and tear, как говорится.

    Тут в отзывах ноют о сложности - поставь минимальную, возьми соску и УДОЛИ :)    … Expand

    The performance on ps4 is ridiculous. This is the most buttery smooth FPS gameplay by a wide margin, it makes cod feel like it’s running at 20fps. There are tons of enemies being thrown at you at all times which makes it even more impressive! This is single player FPS mechanics at its finest. The platforming sections are SHORT - rarely more than 3 platforms long -    This game is awesome!

    The platforming sections are SHORT - rarely more than 3 platforms long - hardly anything to complain about. The tutorials are all in the first 90 min of the game - they throw a lot at you and get them out of the way early. The cinematic are rarely more than 1 min long and there’s not that many of them.

    Keep playing the game and you’ll quickly find yourself in the same action bliss that doom 2016 provided. The best escape I’ve found yet from the crazy times afoot! Amazing game, I have minor complaints with UI and sounds, but they pale in comparison with how much fun I’m having!    … Expand

The gun variety stays just bout the same, expcept for a few late game "guns". The new equipment is also amazing. It feels good to use a flamethrower and ice bomb at the same time, getting    DOOM Eternal does everything DOOM 2016 did well, and makes it better.

    But the only negative thing in my opnion is the ammo. It just is pretty boring chainsawing demons every 30 seconds. But otherwise DOOM Eternal is in my honest opinion a masterpiece if DOOM 2016 was good, this is f*cking amazing.

    It's Doom. Doom somehow became even more fast and hectic. Playing as the Slayer literally makes you feel like the unstoppable Force hell is afraid of.

Total overdose of coolness and satisfaction. id Software knows how to make a Doom fan satisfied. It's worth to mention the "cheat codes" mechanics, it's brilliant!     Insanely mindblowing, fps fan or not this game fires on all cylinders. Long campaign missions that are highly detailed and varied, fun transversal followed by adrenaline pumped encounters, goreifying combat system, and the Slayer has even been expanded on.

    The epitome of the FPS genre. I preordered the collectors edition of this game the first day it was available! I was a huge fan of DOOM 2016 and I played it so much I am still within the top 100 on arcade mode in the world for almost all the missions! (I know shameless lol) I am also a huge metal fan and this game just speaks to me. DOOM 2016 was already a buttery smooth masterpiece ofThe epitome of the FPS genre. I was a huge fan of DOOM 2016 and I played it so much I am still within the top 100 on arcade mode in the world for almost all the missions! (I know shameless lol) I am also a huge metal fan and this game just speaks to me. DOOM 2016 was already a buttery smooth masterpiece of death and carnage...but DOOM ETERNAL. I mean I can't tell you how many times I exclaimed "Holy Sh%t!!" to myself as I found myself in awe at what I was experiencing. It is hands down the most intense, satisfying and CHALLENGING FPS experience. You are going 100 mph the whole time and the later fights of multiple waves of different enemy combinations will have you sweating as you rip and tear through the huge number of demons thrown at you. One complaint I had about 2016 was that the arenas were over too quickly but holy hell did they fix that! I made a promise to myself I would take my time on Nightmare for my first play-through to challenge myself and force myself to adapt and it absolutely did. The game play is more focused on the resource management and even though some players found it tedious, I honestly started the habit of flame belching and chainsawing every fodder, every time it was charged, so I was always stocked up for all weapons I barely felt the ammo shortage later in the game. They want you to pay attention and get the flow of combat. Unfortunately a lot of people walked through doom 2016 with a ton of ammo and just the super shotgun, while the best way to play it was to deal massive damage by switching weapons rapidly and using all your tools and Eternal really drives this point home.

    OH and the marauder! Everyone is complaining about how difficult he is to face? YEAH, THAT'S THE POINT. He's the test of your skills! It feels like a brutal show down every time one of those guys spawns in, some fights with Marauders can last several minutes! I am really not trying to brag but the first encounter I beat him on the first try on Nightmare! I just stayed calm and dashed around him like mad just waiting for his green flash and subsequent axe attack! Plus use the fodder that spawn in! Run from him and go burn and chainsaw a few dudes, then face him with a full armory and health! I really love and hate the enemy, for how difficult he is because I definitely died a ton on the later encounters with him, but man people need to calm down and appreciate why he's there. Put the time in and GIT GUD. They want you you try and try again, learn the enemies, the marauder is no different! So please ID don't nerf him! I love it how it is!

    Lastly I should mention some smaller things that are just great , the art style and environments are a huge step up from 2016, the places you fight in and platform through are just dripping with atmosphere, each mission has a distinct feel and vibe and makes each part of the game very memorable! Plus the abundance of secrets and various point pick ups for your suit are scattered everywhere in cool places that take some thinking and awareness. Plus they show you just enough to figure it out for yourself too, so it's not so bad.

    Finally the freaking god tier music!!! Mick Gordon needs his own shrine or something after this, his soundtrack complements the various environments perfectly so much so that you associate the music with the location! The tracks that blast while you are in combat get you pumped and drive the pace of combat, you will feel like a complete bad ass. I love the little detail how when you die the music will lose it's bass and then slowly return to full volume and chunkiness as you load back into the fight! It's just gaming bliss when you are blasting through demons dashing around the room swinging from poles, glory killing and chainsawing, all the while this heavy metal song is pounding along while you do your thing. Ugh, I cannot stress how good this is. It's a freaking spiritual experience!

    All in all, you are seriously missing out if you don't play this game. This is a next gen milestone, and will be remembered for decades to come. RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE!    … Expand

    Probably the best FPS game i have played in a looong time. I had high hopes, but it exceded them all. Was a little unsure about some things at first, but then got full into it. About to finish my second playthrough and still a blast! The one bad thing about it, is i cant go back to DOOM 2016 now, i tried and it feels slow and meh compared to eternal. Highly recomanded

    Although I haven't played 2016 to the full yet but, compared to DOOM.. Eternal is on whole other level. Don't let negative reviews spoil the fun. Its balanced out with exploration, platforming and awesome, mindless murder! Don't hesitate to buy, rip and tear!

    I loved Doom 2016. It was probably my favorite FPS to play on Ps4. Well Doom Eternal seems even better! Definitely above my expectations. If you loved Doom 2016, chances are really high that you'll love Doom Eternal even more!

    Great sequel to awesome Doom (2016) that pays respect to the OGs. Great pacing, excellent combat mechanics, variety of cool looking demons and amazing music score. It's all a fan can hope for, and I suspect, a favourite to play in the coming years. Bad ass.

    Where to start. This game really makes you FEEL like DOOM. From double jump to double dash all while raining holy death upon what ever demon is unlucky enough to cross your path and then land on their face and rip it off, this game's combat system is intense. The game constantly demands that you make use of most of its arsenal to survive, and all of it to be proficient. Out of ammo? BetterWhere to start. This game really makes you FEEL like DOOM. From double jump to double dash all while raining holy death upon what ever demon is unlucky enough to cross your path and then land on their face and rip it off, this game's combat system is intense. The game constantly demands that you make use of most of its arsenal to survive, and all of it to be proficient. Out of ammo? Better chainsaw a something. Low on armor? Time to bust out the super shotgun, meat hook to something and blast its face, dash away before they retaliate, run off to glory kill something and dash across the map to create some distance to take out that mancubus. All the while the music is pounding the beat of the action into you. Our one true lord and savior, Mick Gordon, has done it again. Platforming and exploration sections give a much needed breather between arenas that will have you sweating and jaw clenching. Cut scenes provide a sense of just how badass the Doom Slayer is, oh and a little bit of story. DOOM Eternal takes the combat system from DOOM 2016 and injects pure adrenaline into it. This game punishes mistakes, and rewards smart choices. I have never had this much fun playing a shooter. This is the best single-player shooter I've ever played. As far as multiplayer goes, i haven't had a chance to delve into it myself, but it seems interesting, but lets not lie to ourselves - we're here for one thing, committing genocide on the mortally challenged while head banging to some sick tunes.… Expand

    *I love this game, these are two nitpicks*
    The only complaint I have for this game is that guns are pickups, unlike Doom 2016 and that there's some 3 second cutscenes here and there that kind of interrupt the flow but it really doesn't matter.

    I see a lot of people here that haven't played the whole game, yet still leave a review which if I find really **** retartded.

    Every new demon    While no game is perfect, Doom Eternal is very close to that. What I think a lot of people who have had a negative experience with this game either don't understand or have forgotten that this is a doom game. Every doom game has been about mindless killing of demons, platforming, and a story that doesn't get too deep. Doom Eternal takes these 3, and turns them up x100.

    Every new demon you face offers a challenging experience, each one becoming harder than the last. However, the game itself seems to stay on a steady difficulty. The more you progress throughout the levels and find things to upgrade your suit, weapons, or abilities, the less challenging those demons that used to be an issue become. The game also offers "weak points" for each demon, giving players a constant changing load out and a more strategic means of slaying. This is a necessary element, as now your shotgun can hold up to a max of 24 shells, rather than 60. *cough *cough

    Every level is different from the last, and is extremely colorful; each giving off its own unique vibe and personality. Along with cool environments, the game feels much bigger while you travel from different worlds, as i feel almost every doom prior was limited to the close quarters environments.

    The story is there, and for those that want more lore, there is plenty of it, by collecting "codex" through out each level, will inform you on events mentioned though your journey.

    When it comes to collectables, the game offers a ton both inside and outside the levels. What I mean by this, is that through out the game play, you'll be able to unlock things like custom backgrounds for the main menu, different skins, etc. that can be unlocked by just playing the game normally, or completing certain milestones that reward upon completion. One thing I thought was very cool that some people seem to have a meltdown over is the requirement for a Bethesda.net account. What people don't understand is that if you have any other doom game that allows you to link your account, you will be granted a free exclusive skin/reward to add to your collection. In addition, you'll be able to unlock a zombie doom slayer skin by joining the Doomslayers club. Both accounts are free and take a total of 3 minutes to make ._. so stop complaining.

    I love this game, but with all this I do have to address some issues that i felt need to be fixed or looked more into. I feel that the difficulty dose not match the game play experience tied to it. I found myself dying too often and loosing my extra lives in "Hurt me plenty" an issue that I didn't have in any other doom. I also feel that some of the levels are slightly broken, either taking too long to load the next checkpoint after everything is dead or not loading in at all. Some of the milestones have glitched for me and others as well, however i have been lucky compared to some. another major issue i feel, is how often the Marauder spams his shield. Your only means of effectively killing him is either by splash damage, or waiting for him to drop his shield for .00005 sec.

    So, I've seen negative reviews talking about low ammo and jumping around, but these people are clearly one of two things :
    1) not using every weapon, they stick to the shotgun or something else, and complain that they have to chainsaw a fodder every 20sec

    Low ammo forces you to master each weapon, get upgrades for each of them, it forces you to not get bored.
    Then, people complain about platforming when it's here to me the parts where you're not fighting a bit more fun, instead of a series of corridors until the next area, it's a jump pad to a swing rope with some zombie in the end you can kill for fun. It's great to keep players engaged and make them use their brains, just like ammo capacity.
    I've also seen some complains about the story, to me it's a plus, it's great having world building and lore to have reasons to kill demons, it's not much, since doom isn't a story based game, but it's not too much, if you think there are too many cinematics, just hold R to skip anything.
    I'm happy I could play this game day one, yes you have to sign up to bethesda.net but who cares, make an account while downloading the game, you can even lnk it to steam and you won't even notice the Bethesda login, I didn't notice it until I saw butthurt reviews only on the trivial account creation that take as much time to do as leaving a 0 review complaining about it.
    Overall the gameplay is fun and an improvement to 2016, devs put lots of love in the game and you can feel it.    … Expand

    One of the best and most exciting games I’ve played in a while, and definitely the best FPS I’ve ever played. The way the game blends platforming and shooting is amazing and feels great. All the new features and mechanics force the player to think more, especially the weak points which are always satisfying to pop off. While some players may dislike the fact that they have to think to play the game, (God forbid) I think it’s a great choice and makes for a very entertaining and satisfying experience.
    P.S. You need the Bethesda account so you can unlock the series rewards that are ******* awesome. The rewards made me want to play the game more and more so I could unlock everything. Maybe needing to have the Bethesda account should be optional, but then you’d be missing out on the cool rewards.    … Expand

    Game improved Doom 2016 in every possible way. Playing it feels so satisfying. People complain about the jumping parts but I have to disagree on that. It's better to hve a little platformer-exploration between fight zones, otherwise looking for secrets would be so much more boring. Bethesda and ID gave us an incredible game right here.

    Absolute masterpiece!! Best fps ive ever played, its above and beyond anything I could have imagined. Perfect gameplay, story introduced through optional cutscenes and written lore, insane graphics and perfect level design this is the ultimate doom experience and i can't even imagine going back and playing doom 2016 after playing this and doom 2016 was amazing for its time.

    This game is AMAZING, I love every aspect of it. The loudness, the music, the cartoonish feel of it. It’s just so good! My only problem is that Doom Slayer isn’t faster. I love how loud the demons are, how everything’s all up in your face (even the music!), the colorfulness and how you can see the fear in each and every demon you glory kill and how hilarious certain Glory Kills are.This game is AMAZING, I love every aspect of it.     This is an excellent game! From its ferocious djent soundtrack to its heart racing and pumping combat. I loved the introduction of the boast mechanic and the game had played flawlessly. I got this on day one and experienced no glitches. I would highly recommend this game to anyone.

    Honesty paying 96.48 dollars for this game was completely worth it because

    It's a real game you can enjoy the gameplay is fantastic the graphics is awesome the soundtrack is perfect and the online is interesting what can I ask more but this game isn't for everyone it's an arena shooter you might dislike that and all I could say you must give it a try if you're into FPS games

But even if you arent there for deep lore, I HIGHLY recommend you read some of the codexes it is very interesting and makes the Doomslayer all the more badass. As for cutscenes, they are amazing, they make you and the Doomslayer feel like an absolute heavy metal god, this definetly brings forth flaws in 2016 in my opinion due to the fact that in these cutscenes you are able to compare your self to the puny humans you meet and you are actually recognised as a strong rage filled warrior. This point lacks in th 2016 game, you feel much more badass with people to interact with and a story to explain why your ruining the devilish day of these demons. My final point will be around platforming, I dont have a problem with the platforming, though at times feels buggy and frustrating, its fine for me as it makes each level less flat (Of which 2016 felt a lot like) and expands the level design to make it more interactive for traversal and combat elements. The only complaint i have with the platforming is that it seems less natural. To conclude, i loved Doom 2016 and thought it was a great game but Doom Eternal exceeded my expectations (which were already extremely high) and is by far the best game of 2020 and could well be the best game for the rest of the year.… Expand

When the level is getting boring, there is in level rooms that give you the action that you feel that you were missing.     it's a great game!!!!! the rush flows through your body and you must use your head in order to not die, even more in the later levels. the music made my ears cum just from the intro, and the pacing is awesome! the enemies are overwhelming and once killed, you get the feeling of a DOOM SLAYER!!!!!!!!

All story cutscenes are skippable, secrets aren't mandatory to progress, and if you use the game mechanics ammo is completely manageable. This game will not hold your hand, it will not guide you to the objective marker every step of the way. You will need to think and engage. It's raw, it's brutal, it's **** devastatingly hard. I'm playing on Ultraviolence, I get my ass beat, but DOOM Eternal is the first game in a decade that has put me right back into the giddy feeling I got when I played my very first fps ever.     Undoubtably the best fps I've ever played and sets the bar for future ones to come. Not to mention the fact that the graphics are superb and runs at a smooth 60fps on ps4 pro. This **** looks better than a lot of animated movies. Literally every frame of it just oozes with detail and beautiful color. MUST Have and most likely will be the game of the year for 2020.     Убрали ненужную возможность приседать. Добавили двойной прыжок и рывки в стороны,из-за чего битвы стали более динамичным,что добавляет эмоций к зарубам(прыжок,вжух,вжух и брбрбрбр бензопилой). Также крутое изменение касательно самих демонов.Теперь от попадания, к примеру ракетницы в большого демона    Друзья,это тот же DOOM(2016) + очень приятные изменения и доработки геймплэя.

    А вообще сюжет,как для акрадного шутера норм:идёт на фоне,раскрывает мир ,пока ты режешь и разрываешь демонов - красота!

    Сначала подумал:"ЛЯЯЯЯ,шо это такое , шо мне подсунули ,что с лицами врагов?"
    А потом встречаю остальных демонов и понимаю ,что каджит не обманул.
    Сам дизайн уровней , врагов и задников на достойном уровне,просто изменён со времён предыдущих частей,из-за чего сначало показалось ,что случился downgrade(инглишь мэн).
    Цена прогресса ,и нечего нос воротить!
    Так что если пришёл убивать демонов -убивай- и на такие "минусы" как цветной интерфес внимания не обратишь.
    Лично прошёл до конца практически на одном дыхании , игра и правда хорошая.    … Expand

Also there is like 28 types of demons and they are so amazing whether it’s he’ll knight with swords on its arms or the OG Pain Elemental.     If you like fps games or just mindless gore while ripping demons apart look no further. This game is probably one of the best fps games ever made, the combat feels so good, mastering every weapon and enemy type is essential for harder difficulties and the payoff is murdering demons with ungodly precision and speed while looking/feeling like a badass

    This is a great FPS experience that I recommend to anybody who wants to challenge themselves. Graphics are incredible. The game runs so well I never encountered frame drops on my PC playthrough. Parkour is okay but not great. Combat is better than ever.

    Meat, blood, executions. What do we else want from Doom? Guns? Lots of them? Music? Mick nailed. Even the plot is not dull and is interesting enough to make me read logs. Perfection

    Absolutely fantastic. This has now become one of my favourite games ever. this was my most anticipated game of 2020 and it exceeded my expectations. If your a fan of FPS games this is a must play. just wish the multiplayer had just a bit more.

Now there mad they can't mindlessness play like a moron and have to somewhat think about ammo and aim accurately on demon body parts. Funny thing.by the middle of the game the chainsaw fuel,This game crushes Doom 2016 in terms of gameplay and level design.     Amazing game.
    Imaginative, creative, gorgeous. Combat has been expanded vertically in comparison to DOOM 2016 and is more arcade type.

    Este juego lo tiene todo, encima sin perder la esencia de los antiguos DOOM, su ambientación, su movilidad, su historia, su excelente música, la complejidad de algunos de los enemigos. Sin duda un grandioso candidato a juego del año 2020. Enhorabuena a Bethesda por este increible juego. Me agrada saber que uno de los padres de los shooters este en tan buenas manos.

    killing demons feels more satisfying then ever, glory kills got better, demons got bigger, amazing. some people might not like the jumping part but i think it's a nice filler instead of just walking around. 10/10

    It took everything that doom 2016 introduced, made it bigger and better and introduced superb movement mechanics. Not only that, but it feels like a proper sequel, that doesn't pamper newbies like 2016 had to. This is what Quake was meant to be back in the 90s, a supreme followup to Doom.

    I loved Doom 2016, and this was even better! Everything was just great! The gun play, the pacing of the story, the boss fights, the enemy variety, I had a lot of fun. I wish there was a death match multiplayer mode, but it's fine.

    Literal FPS perfection.
    Even if the game is pretty short (13-14 missions total) the collectibles adds a lot of replayability to the game.
    you can play the game in different difficulties to get better or just have a good time.

    Very good game i have so much fun but why you take away THE BEST MULTIPLAYER AS DOMINATION OR TEAM DEATH MACTH THE NEW PLAYER ARE A FEW AN OLDER PLAYER THERE ALOT JUST THE NEXT DOOM PLEASE ADD SOME REAL MULTIPLAYER
