    My official review of the game is while bringing over the best elements of Doom 2016 and expanding on them, overall the game is a weaker version of the Doom Model. Gameplay features is the crux of the issue, while expanding on gameplay from last game, it is clear that certain elements are not executed well. Climbing and mobility play a larger role in this game but the novelty wears off quickly as you realize how difficult platforming is when dashing is unpredictable, climbs sometimes do not work and platform set up is confusing. Arenas are larger and bring much more variety, however Doom is suppose to make you fell fast and juggling killing demons and traversing lava pools, acid and not falling off the map is annoying. Difficulty, the game has spiked in difficulty demons hit hard, but at the same time it becomes an overwhelming amount of demons and found myself dying a lot despite this now being my first fps nor first doom title. Boss battles that were once too easy are now progressing to too difficult with the final 2 bosses, I had to equip sentinel armour, reducing incoming damage and gives you full hp and armour,in order to complete them. Story, the original was simple and honestly enjoyable: demons have awoken because corporations got too greedy and got hell energy, stop demons. This game story while also simple relies too heavily on the lore of the world that was lightly established in the first title. While I will admit, I understand it, I can see how some may become lost. Overall, while being a fun and exhilarating experience I much prefer Doom 2016 than this new release. However, I will happily enjoy more Doom in the future.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When you have to look up on Youtube how to get around clunky game mechanics, your game is functionally broken. Is the game good? Hell yeah! But it does have it's share of mechanics that are just frustratingly broken that prevent you from progressing. After the first one, it was no big deal. But now that I am running into number two, this is a problem. This should not be in a game like this. The first one was the mechanic referred to by some as "monkey bars". You had to jump up two of them in a row on the outside of a building and then boost across to the other side, grab a wall and then boost back. I spent dozens of times trying to just go around the corner because I just didn't see the wall where you can cling on the other side. Ok, I thought. No big deal. Annoying, but OK I didn't see it. Now the second one happened. It was in the Taras Nabad pool where you can't melee to break the wall, but you have to underwater dash or something. I tried it a few dozen times to look it up on Youtube and was once again very frustrated and annoyed that my progression was being held back because the game designers made some stupid decisions. Yes, Bethesda, there were some stupid decisions made here. And it annoyed me so bad that I shut the game off and I'm not playing it.

    Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game. Just be prepared to get frustrated and annoyed at some moments with clunky game mechanics that will prevent progressing in the game. Why, Bethesda, why?    … Expand

    Играется очень свежо и оригинально, сюжет прост, лаконичен, но с задачей справляется, новая фракция Ангелов весьма органично вписалась в лор игры, графика, дизайн оппонентов весьма крут, все это помножено на убойный саундтрек, хорошую сложность, и от этого я как старый фанат Дума, в восторге.

    Одна из лучших игр в которые довелось поиграть. Низкий поклон ID software, настоящие мастера шутеров от первого лица. 10 из 10.    … Expand

    I’m playing a year after the game has been released. I know a lot of the issues have been fixed. I purchased the deluxe game in April 2020 while on sale but never got around to playing it till April ‘21. I have to say this game is absolutely great. It totally takes you out of a typical FPS mode of cover & shoot. You have to move move move to stay alive here. Weapon swapping, ammoI’m playing a year after the game has been released. I didn’t realize what I wanted until I got it so that’s why it’s 9/10. But in all seriousness the game is beautiful & the developers really caught lightning in a bottle. I always start games in the hardest level available. I had to drop it down a level & swallow my pride until I learned how to play differently. It sounds dumb but it’s true this game is not like anything I played before. Once you understand how to be mobile & on the hunt then you can RIP & TEAR.… Expand

    Doom Eternal is a perfect sequel that moves faster, hits harder, and feels better than it's predecessor. Don't get me wrong, Doom 2016 was an absolutely astounding reboot that reinvented and reinvigorated the Doom franchise by setting the new benchmark for fast paced FPS games, but Doom Eternal brilliantly builds upon those established elements with panache and flair.     However, it's unacceptable that I was forced to create a Bethesda account to play the game (going offline in order to circumvent this, isn't good enough).
    Also, it was stated that this game wouldn't have microtransactions, but later on they added cosmetics that could be purchased with real money which shouldn't    I played DOOM Eternal in 2020 and thought it was a great game that I liked.

    The best of Doom Eternal is when you're double-jumping over a dozen demons, shooting grenades and mini-rockets and trying to keep track of all the projectiles coming your way plus where you can go in a sprawling 3D environment filled with gaps, bridges, springboards and the like. You can get to a point where you don't think, just KILL, and it feels incredibly thrilling. What keeps thisThe best of Doom Eternal is when you're double-jumping over a dozen demons, shooting grenades and mini-rockets and trying to keep track of all the projectiles coming your way plus where you can go in a sprawling 3D environment filled with gaps, bridges, springboards and the like. You can get to a point where you don't think, just KILL, and it feels incredibly thrilling. What keeps this game from being an absolute masterpiece is when things don't click like that, and you're instead just left frustrated and unfulfilled.

    The game's essentially about two things: exploration and combat, with combat obviously being the most important of the two. On that aspect Doom eternal does a pretty good job of things, mixing a respectable variety of enemies and giving each a specific strategy to fight. Throughout the entire game you're constantly increasing and improving your arsenal and the feeling of becoming better at destroying demons is definitely there. That being said, some weapons still feel weak and uneventful, so much so that I find myself literally never using them (I'm looking at you, rocket launcher); can't say I'm a huge fan of the flame belch either, again because it feels like such a weak and unassuming move, something I only use out of a feeling of obligation. The solidity of the demons is also understandable, but it feels a little unbalanced too. The slayer might not be the biggest guy in the world, but he should be at the very least capable of pushing aside the basic zombie enemies. Instead, it's ease for demons to basically lock you in place by surrounding you until you're completely disoriented with the flashing lights and explosions, though, in the game's defense, maybe I'm at fault for not keeping better track of my surroundings. Also, it's hilariously evil that the BFG is just assigned as a regular weapon in your rotation that you can pull by accident with your mouse-wheel and once you've clicked it you're committed to the shot even though the ammunition for it is so limited it's basically a special ability like the laser sword.

    Traversal is about as good as it can be, considering the fact that it's a 1st person shooter, but here's the thing: you've given me so many navigational moves that I can basically cover the entire zone without touching the ground once, and there's fifteen different secrets, including potential weapon upgrades, scattered throughout the level. Of course I'm gonna check every goddamn corner! And that's why it's upsetting when you hit random invisible walls, or ledges you can't actually stand on because the game doesn't recognize them as floors. Furthermore, every level has different stages or sub-zones without clear identification for where they start and where they end. You can rarely tell if you're just advancing to the next room or if you're gonna cross a threshold and suddenly there's a cutscene and the path back is now blocked or worse, the level's over. If it's the later, then you've now missed all those collectibles you still wanted to try and reach, and you either need to start the level again or use the fast travel mechanic, which just isn't all that fun.

    At the end of the day, my complaints about the game are all like this, just little annoyances here and there that keep me from enjoying the game as much as I could. I'd still recommend it to anyone who's into FPSs, and my 8 score is closer to a 9 than a 7, no doubt.    … Expand

But it's true that the environment and architecture in this game is so phenomenal, that I often just stoped and looked at everything and listen to the mysterious ambient music. The weird thing is that the game made me lust for another DOOM 3 type of horror DOOM. I absolutely love DOOM 3 and Eternal, so let's see what's next. Maybe Quake is ready for the reboot too.… Expand

The game also has an emphasis on backstory in the form of scattered text entries. Ultimately, it's a rift on the Halo tale, but instead of the Covenant taking over planets, its demons. Due to the platforming and exploration aspects, EternalDoom Eternal is arguably the best entry in the series. It amps up the speed and difficulty of its 2016 predecessor while adding platforming sections. The game also has an emphasis on backstory in the form of scattered text entries. Ultimately, it's a rift on the Halo tale, but instead of the Covenant taking over planets, its demons. Due to the platforming and exploration aspects, Eternal feels more like an action-adventure than an old-school FPS. While there are plenty of intense run 'n gun encounters, the pace is slowed down by puzzle platforming. You must figure out how to get to a certain section before using your acquired abilities to do so. This element is bound to be quite divisive to Doom purists. Especially since they can become quite annoying. But like the previous game, you'll find all sorts of hidden upgrades. You'll also discover secret areas, timed challenges and horde challenges. Online multiplayer is no longer composed of Team Deathmatches, but is now a 2-vs-1 survival mode: two soldiers battle one demon for match wins. It's worth playing a few times, but the single player mode is the main thing. There's even Live Events that connect with the campaign. Overall, this is a worthy addition to the series. Even if it is too tough at times. I would rate this with a 9 out of 10.… Expand

    One of the most underappreciated games of 2020. Doom Eternal kicked the door down for me and very few games managed to top it.

    The level design is awesome, the soundtrack is banging, and the gameplay is damn near perfect. DOOM Eternal has restored my faith in the FPS genre as a whole. It's that good.

    Doom Eternal was overhyped without a doubt, mostly because its release coincided with a near-complete shutdown of the entire world, but it's still an incredibly fun game with no real competitor out there except Doom 2016. Worth picking up at full price imo.

    O melhor FPS da geração. Jogo extremamente frenético, com uma variedade muito boa de armas e inimigos para se matar. Muito mais ágil que seu antecessor, mundos maiores para se explorar e trilha sonora andando com a gameplay, recomendo fortemente para qualquer pessoa que curta jogo de tiro em primeira pessoa.

    Story - 8/10. In Doom Eternal we have interesting story and huge lore, finally!
    NO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS (at least not yet) - 10/10

    DOOM will always be DOOM don't need to change anything about the game loved the increased speed, gameplay is great as always it's a great game to release all your anger into it with smashing and blowing up demons but one thing I hope they add in the future is that I would love to see a DOOM coop campaign mode or just a survival mode but overall the game is awesome

    Do not try to play this game with your controller. This game is only available for keyboard and mouse. Aside from the graphics, the game is very good and skill-dependent.

    When I played Doom 2016 I said to myself "It will be very hard to do better" and indeed it was BUT despite that, it must be said, I still had a lot of fun. Graphically, although it is not the precise point on which we expected Doom Eternal, it remains very pretty and it gives credibility to the sublime artistic direction which itself gives credibility to the level design. Apart that we are in 2020 and we finally have a game that offers a good artificial intelligence, deceitful and aggressive. The gameplay during the fights is frankly fun however we would have done without phases of funny platforms for five minutes but which become very heavy in the long run. Otherwise the sensations are almost the same as in 2016 and that's what makes it hard for me to do better than Doom 2016. There aren't really big differences between the two games and it's that's what disappoints me a lot, apart from the new sublime music and the new weapons I haven't really seen much difference except I expected much more ... But otherwise yes, Doom Eternal is a good game and it will please any nag or fan of FPS… Expand

    This game is so good! Doom Eternal surpassed Doom (2016) in evert aspect. Fast paced frenetic gameplay filled with action, great graphics and delicious soundtrack.

    Doom Eternal is Doom, but better in almost every single way. Doom Eternal’s biggest accomplishment is somehow giving you more options on how to approach each encounter. If you liked Doom (2016) then you are definitely going to enjoy this.

    This game is amazing.

    Instead of in most FPS games, where you play as... a army man, in doom, you play as this badass green guy who goes to hell and slices demons in half with a gun that is also a chainsaw. It’s just way more unique than other FPS games. This also is reflected in the gameplay. In games like call of duty, what you do is find some cover, shoot some guys, find more cover    This game is amazing.

    Instead of in most FPS games, where you play as... a army man, in doom, you play as this badass green guy who goes to hell and slices demons in half with a gun that is also a chainsaw. It’s just way more unique than other FPS games. This also is reflected in the gameplay. In games like call of duty, what you do is find some cover, shoot some guys, find more cover ahead, and repeat. In doom, you are jumping all over the map, getting in demon’s faces, and just absolutely demolishing them. It does a service to the classic doom games that pioneered the first person shooter genre while not dwelling on the past. It’s just a super fun game. I’d recommend anyone to get this game, but I personally think the best way to play it is on the PC version, with a controller, with gyro aiming. (Not as much the switch version though. That one has gyro aiming built in, but it probably runs like crap, because it’s the switch version)    … Expand

    Such a challenging game, but it won't stop you if you'd prefer to take a breezy tour through metal album landscapes and demon guts !!

    Bethesda & id have done it again. They've managed to make an amazing sequel to Doom 2016 by building up on 2016 gameplay and adding more depth. The end result: one of the best shooters on the market, and one of the best shooters of the last 10 years.

    The campaign has the perfect duration and takes you through levels with a completely different atmosphere, medieval inspired ,alien, hellish, etc. while blowing up the classical doom demons and some few new ones. The difficult level is really well adjusted and every one apart from the easiest is challenging and rewarding.
    The structure of the game is basically the same as with the Doom 2016, traversing an intricate level with arenas full with demons while searching for collectibles/upgrades.
    Eternal has filled up the space between arenas with platforming sections to break the monotony and they are interesting but I personally disliked them because for me they did not fit the ambience well and were just places to potentially lost a live or get your armour/health reduced before the next arena.

    Due to my personal taste this game is a step below 2016 because I liked the tone, music, demon design and atmosphere there more, closer to the horrific Doom3. Eternal has more Doom2/Quake3 vibes with a more vivid colour palette. Also some new demons like the Marauders are interesting to fight the first 3 times you cross them, but the 14th time they are just annoying and break the combat flow.

    Nevertheless is an excellent boomer shooter that you should not let pass.

    If you liked DOOM 2016, then DOOM Eternal is going to satisfy you. There's some slight differences and some new mechanics that make it feel more modern. While I prefer the old school style of DOOM 2016 for the simplicity, Eternal is still an amazing addition to the series.

    Another highlight of the game is the music; it feels like it's part of the gameplay, and it's awesome!
    Also, the graphics and the audio design are amazing too.
    Despite being a solid FPS game though, DOOM Eternal features platforming elements, however, they're not executed well; there's too much unnecessary platforming.

However, one thing i must add is even though the game offers a very good challenge on its hardest difficulty, once you beat it you are basically done with the game.     Every arena consists of two categories of enemies; fodder, and heavies. Fodder enemies, typically imps, soldiers, and gargyoles, are hardly threats. They have small health pools, make little effort to dodge your attacks, and generally go down in a few small-arms shots. However, they serve a different purpose; they are easy prey to use your various resource-management abilities on. Use a glory kill on one to get health back, use a chainsaw to get ammo, or use the flame belch to get armor. Because these enemies are quick to kill, respawn indefinitely, and pose little threat, they exist not as targets, but as resource nodes to fall back on after running your guns dry, or getting low on health and armor. No; in a given arena, the real threat are the heavies.

    The heavies and super heavies are the real center of an arena. Unlike fodder, they have much larger health pools, more mobility, and generally much more dangerous attacks. The doomslayer's priority on entering any arena is killing the heavies as fast as possible. Doing so is not always so cut and dry; each heavy usually has a unique weakness or strategy to exploit, with which the doomslayer must respond to accordingly: cacodemons can be made to swallow a sticky bomb with precise timing, staggering them instantly; the hell knight has a particular weakness to the chaingun, making him falter more than any other weapon; and the most contentious enemy of all, the marauder, must be fought one-on-one in a very particular manner, countering his attacks and staying at a specific range. Taking all of this into account while fighting the heavies, as well as considering your ammo, health, and armor, and where the nearest fodder enemies are should you need to temporarily retreat and restock, makes up the bulk of the game's combat loop. Mess up once on nightmare, and you're a dead doomslayer.

    That's not to say you don't need a good base in FPS skill to play this game well; actually hitting your targets is just as important as knowing which targets to shoot.     Ripping and tearing through demons in DOOM Eternal is a great time! The mix of platforming and combat is extremely well done, and I enjoy it a lot! The soundtrack gets you perfectly into the mood for wrenching off the heads of demons and punching through walls, and the overall sound design does a great job overall.

    Even if you've finished Doom 2016, Doom Eternal forces you to learn everything again, and make use of every tool in your disposal.

    You have to make use of your chainsaw, glory kill, and flame belch; DO NOT stay still, and switch weapons effectively. It might be a bit of hardcore at the beginning, but once you get the flow of the game, it's all become seamless. Hands down, this is    Even if you've finished Doom 2016, Doom Eternal forces you to learn everything again, and make use of every tool in your disposal.

    You have to make use of your chainsaw, glory kill, and flame belch; DO NOT stay still, and switch weapons effectively.
    It might be a bit of hardcore at the beginning, but once you get the flow of the game, it's all become seamless.

    If you like fast paced shooters that give you incredible feelings of flow, then look no further than Doom Eternal!
    If you're not used to shooters, it can seem a little crazy at times but it is so worth getting used too! Def one of my top games of the last year!

    Great game, im finding it much harder than doom 2016 though. i keep getting stuck on parts! otherwise a fast moving action packed game, very enjoyable!
