    This game has a learning curve that I had to master, but after that, I had a blast with this game.

    I thought this game was gonna be good, but I didn't expect it to be THIS good.

    1) Combat The developers have stated again and again in interviews that they want this game to elicit similar strategies to a game of chess. Each enemy type having specific strengths and weaknesses. And I must say: they succeeded. This idea came through beautifully in the finished product! And it wasn't    I thought this game was gonna be good, but I didn't expect it to be THIS good.

    1) Combat

    The developers have stated again and again in interviews that they want this game to elicit similar strategies to a game of chess. Each enemy type having specific strengths and weaknesses. And I must say: they succeeded. This idea came through beautifully in the finished product!

    And it wasn't just the enemies. The Slayer's moveset had some more strategy put in as well! Most notable is the lack of ammo in your reserves. You have very little ammo in this game and you're constantly running out. However, this actually comes off as a plus. Why? Because it gives you the opportunity to unleash your chainsaw on the closest demon fodder! What's more, is that your chainsaw fuel constantly recharges on it's own (and rather quickly too) so you'll never be without ammo if you play your cards right.

    2) Style Change

    There's been a slight, but very noticeable, style shift from the last Doom game. Its surprisingly silly and cartoony, and I'm kinda into it. A lot more Demon punching slapstick. Plus, the ammo/health pickups greatly resemble the original, magical, floating Doom pickups, giving it a more cartoony/fantasy vibe. A bit of an adjustment from Doom (2016), but all in the service of making the game more arcade fun.

    And a bit of a side note: Eternal is a whole lot more colorful, and I totally dig it.

    3) Exploration / Level Pacing

    In Doom (2016), my biggest problem with the game was that the levels were a slog to get through. This was mostly caused by the fact that I was constantly switching between a combat mindset and an exploration mindset. I'd complete a combat encounter, then explore the area for collectables. This slowed the game down to a crawl.

    In Eternal, this isn't a problem. I can safely skip all the collectables in a level and focus on the combat. Why? Because of the simple addition of fast travel; unlocked near the end of each level. Once I reach the end of a level, I can fast travel back to key sections and find everything I need to make my inner collector happy!

    And if you don't care about searching the level for weapon upgrades, you can skip exploration entirely! You're awarded these through combat challenges as well. So don't worry if you're not into playing hide n' seek with collectables.

    4) Story

    Probably the most divisive part of the game are the prominince of the story and cutscenes. Not to worry! If you're not into that, they aren't essential to you're enjoyment, and they're completely skippable. (Except for the opening 30 seconds, but it's not story based or anything like that.)

    Of course, if you're like me, you will be very interested to see where the story goes. There's a whole lotta story beats involving the Slayer's past that I think y'all will like. I certainly did. Anyways, its kept rather vague, so if you want to know everything, better bust out those Codex entries.

    However, if you're not interested at all in the story there are still some Codex entries you might get a kick out of! Take a look at "History of the Sentinals - Part IX" (Last 2 Paragraphs), "History of the Sentinals - Part XIV" (All of It), and "Super Shotgun" (Last Paragraph). All of those are pretty badass.

    5) Summary

    The only thing keeping it from a 10/10 are some minor nitpicks. This game is amazing and I highly recommend it.    … Expand

    DOOM ETERNAL is a very dynamic and interesting game, it keeps you on your toes all the time, the world in which the action takes place is well revealed, a wide range of weapons, from the usual shotgun to the destructive BFG, it is very pleasant to shoot. Perfectly made demons, pieces of their flesh are scattered on the battlefield and it looks really spectacular. The plot is related to theDOOM ETERNAL is a very dynamic and interesting game, it keeps you on your toes all the time, the world in which the action takes place is well revealed, a wide range of weapons, from the usual shotgun to the destructive BFG, it is very pleasant to shoot. Perfectly made demons, pieces of their flesh are scattered on the battlefield and it looks really spectacular. The plot is related to the previous parts, but even without playing them, you can figure out what's what as the game progresses. There are many customization options available: costumes for the main character, victory poses, introductions, coloring books for weapons. The multiplayer component is done well, a lot of interesting mechanics, we are given to play for 5 different demons and it is very interesting. Demons can also be customized. At the same time, the game is not perfect, I encountered a couple of unpleasant bugs that made me go through some levels, and sometimes even the entire game.… Expand

    This game is like a fine double tall cocktail on a friday night. Over the top gameplay that allows good players to be good, and yet remains accessible to newbies is a testament of quality from our boys and girls over at id. I can't wipe the dumb childish grin off my face that this game cultivates, and I dont want to.

    This is a great FPS experience that I recommend to anybody who wants to challenge themselves. Graphics are incredible. The game runs so well I never encountered frame drops on my PC playthrough. Parkour is okay but not great. Combat is better than ever.

    Shooting is very satisfying. The platforming was a nice touch. There was no point where I felt like I was stuck or tired of platforming. The environments are also really good. Fantastic game overall, played on ps4

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Personally, I really love this game. Enemies look like the old design from older doom titles are very good and I like the cartoonist but very gore. The game is a little easy but fair. Now the map in the campaign is very cool. I love the environment from hell on earth to Urdak, look very heavy metal. getting collectibles is very cool and upgrading predator suit can be very rewarding stuff like if you collect 14 cheat code and upgrade suit you get to play doom 1993.

    but anyway the gameplay is fantastic. I love the dash mechanic in this game. you can dash your way to dodge any demon attack and the weapons are very good. getting ammo and armor is pretty easy when you find them on the ground in the map or you can use the chainsaw to slash enemies like Zombies, Possessed soldier, Imps, etc. I love the wall climbing parts, very easy. I also love the new enemies like Marauder, Doom hunter, Gladiator, and Whiplash. their interesting and make it challenging in a fun way. Not much about Carcass, he's very easy to kill by getting around his shields. he more like an Overwatch character that was supposed to be in the game but cut because the developer didn't put time or didn't they put effort. Anyway But the Final boss I the most like is the Icon of sin. I really love that now it is finally real and not in texture like doom 2. I can finally beat him. As I said, he looks very real. I like secret encounters. also about the Marauder, I like him. he follows the rules other enemies do and goes on an offensive hard. he uses his shield when you attack him too early and he attacks you in a long-range of you try to use any long-range. I forgot one thing he summons dog if you attack other enemies. so attack when he is close and when he attacks.
    Also, love the Soundtrack. Doom series is also famous for its music with heavy metal. the Chrous is, let's say very heavy metal. I'm not being sarcastic.

    Now Battlemode, which is basically 1v2 battle. slayer vs 2 monsters. it was alright. but I miss snap maps from Doom 2016. if you don't know Snap maps, its a feature from doom 2016 where you can create a map or visit other player maps.

    I know battle mode is short, but that's all I got. but another thing I like is that you can custom doomguy with skins, and gestures and taunts. and you can also custom skin from weapons.
    Overall that Game is Perfect like Doom 2016 and a very great sequel.    … Expand

The bad reviews for this game filled with people that probably played all of Doom 2016 with a couple of guns and sprayed and prayed. Now there mad they can't mindlessness play like a moron and have to somewhat think about ammo and aim accurately on demon body parts. Funny thing.by the middle of the game the chainsaw fuel,This game crushes Doom 2016 in terms of gameplay and level design.     Amazing game.
    Imaginative, creative, gorgeous. Combat has been expanded vertically in comparison to DOOM 2016 and is more arcade type.

    Este juego lo tiene todo, encima sin perder la esencia de los antiguos DOOM, su ambientación, su movilidad, su historia, su excelente música, la complejidad de algunos de los enemigos. Sin duda un grandioso candidato a juego del año 2020. Enhorabuena a Bethesda por este increible juego. Me agrada saber que uno de los padres de los shooters este en tan buenas manos.

    killing demons feels more satisfying then ever, glory kills got better, demons got bigger, amazing. some people might not like the jumping part but i think it's a nice filler instead of just walking around. 10/10

    Very good game , but its far from flawless . Doom 2016 just felt better , more ballanced and over all more fun to play . Doom ethernal has a very flashy and isnt that visceral .Furthermore i dislike that fact that i can barely us my favorite weapons , I constantly have to switch and chasaw for ammo , that kind of takes away from how personally i like to play i forces a certain playstile onVery good game , but its far from flawless . Doom 2016 just felt better , more ballanced and over all more fun to play . I normally don’t pay attention to the story in a doom game, but the story this time around really interested me (even tho the gameplay was better). But to me, I felt that the 2016 game felt a little more badass imo. ButDoom Eternal (aka Doom 2 aka Doom 5) is the sequel to Doom 4 (2016) and it brings everything you like about the 2016 game and does it even better in every way possible. I normally don’t pay attention to the story in a doom game, but the story this time around really interested me (even tho the gameplay was better).     Literal FPS perfection.
    Even if the game is pretty short (13-14 missions total) the collectibles adds a lot of replayability to the game.
    you can play the game in different difficulties to get better or just have a good time.

    4 years since the revival of DOOM and the follow up picks back up with a BANG! From the soundtrack to the gameplay DOOM Eternal is an absolute blast. As you progress through the game you unlock more weapons and skills that make the gameplay escalate with the levels.

    I haven’t had this much fun with a game in quite some time. It’s not crowded with unnecessary cut scenes or any type of    4 years since the revival of DOOM and the follow up picks back up with a BANG! From the soundtrack to the gameplay DOOM Eternal is an absolute blast. As you progress through the game you unlock more weapons and skills that make the gameplay escalate with the levels.

    I haven’t had this much fun with a game in quite some time. It’s not crowded with unnecessary cut scenes or any type of political agenda. DOOM Eternal simply is a video game and that is such a refreshing statement. Play, move, shoot, explode... On to the next level! The scenery is incredible and the soundtrack is as bad ass as it can get while you blow the arms and heads off of demons. Hats off Bethesda and ID... this one is a must play!    … Expand

    I would've given this game 10/10, but... the punch! In the DOOM 2016 you was able to punch an enemy to death, and now your normal punch is not even able to stagger an average zombie! I understand, balancing issues and whatever, but doom slayer now feel like he is an anorexic that wouldn't be able to beat a baby. 9/10, punch is not going to be fixed...

    The music is amazing, the gunplay is amazing, and the scenery looks amazing. All around an amazing game! Some of the parkour can be a little annoying, but it's not frequent enough to stop the action.

I don't give a 10 lightly like many Metacritic users, a game truly has to be something special for me to give it the highest rating and DOOM Eternal definitely makes the cut.     Absolutely fantastic. This has now become one of my favourite games ever. this was my most anticipated game of 2020 and it exceeded my expectations. If your a fan of FPS games this is a must play. just wish the multiplayer had just a bit more.

    - weapons are punchy
    - The fights are nervous, fast, impressive. We dance in rhythm in the midst of demons...
    - on the magnificent ost of Mike Gordon.
    - Good Level design (collectibles are cool, exploration is good, and the arenas are well designed)
    - Gameplay is incredible...
    - and the progression is very cool too. We feel more and more becoming a god of war.
    - The environments are sublime
    - the rhythm is cool with moments of intense fights and moments of platform to be able to breathe
    - Very correct lifetime for a game of this type
    - The challenge is well balanced
    - The bestiary is incredible more than 30 different demons: the bestiary has evolved since the last opus and it's excellent on that side
    ------

    - the tips on the middle on our screen that break the rythm (We wonder who reached the music...)
    - the last chapters can be a little less worked.
    - An unbalanced multiplayer

    If you like slaying demons, using huge guns, and taking a trip to Mars, then you should check this out. The story is amazing and is an excellent continuation of the DOOM franchise.

The crappy reviews are all just an excuse to make their favorite games get a higher score honestly, the game is almost perfect, the multiplayer for some is not the best but still really fun to play, Doom isn't garbage because you "run outta ammo" or "too much jumping", none of those got in the way or even bothered me, you don't reload and constantly keep shooting for days, of course you'd run outta ammo without noticing if you keep holding the shoot button and do nothing but miss, even if you run out of ammo and juice for the chainsaw too you still have your grenades, flamethrower, glory kills, bloodpunch, and you can even charge into the enemies too. The only issue with this game I can think of right now is just... the story really. Even then, Doom does what it does best, and that's gameplay, the story is just a reason for Doom to play out the way it does, I haven't played any other Doom but I know for a fact that it never was about the story, I don't know about Doom 3 though but in case you didn't know, now you do (I highly doubt the low rating reviews know what they're talking about as they are probably still stuck on the Super Gore Nest for all I know) This is also my first time making a review ever so sorry if I make any mistakes, I really liked Doom Eternal and was honestly surprised by its low rating. But then again, these are probably the same people who think Last Of Us 2 is a masterpiece sooooo I'd rather listen to a brick wall than guys who think the Marauder is "unfair".… Expand

    Fight is amazing, it's pure Doom. Ripping hordes of demons is still satisfying and frenetic pace won't let you take a breath untill the last demon turns into a bloody mud. By the way, why demon corpses dissapear? They are like my trophies! I relish staying on dead bodies of defeated enemies, let the stay!
    Despite lots of negative opinions I think AI of the enemies is ok. It's true, they are rushing to you all the time, but it puts the pressure and makes the battles even more hectic. Monsters chase you when you are bleeding really bad. They can cooperate for example using energy shields to protect the faltering. The game is really difficult. I'm not a skillful player, but I finished Doom 2016 on "Hurt me plenty". Here I got my a** kicked, died hundreds of times. Here is the biggest bummer of the game - lack of ammo. All the time, even with full ammo upgrades. It hinders even the most epic battle when you have to withdraw to scavenge for reinforcements. The one who came up with this idea should be impaled in infernal flames. Puzzle element doesn't bother me.
    I hoped levels would be more complex. Overall, areas and especially backgrounds look great, but when you delight your eye, they have little to offer. Maps are still linear. I would like to see levels like Doom 2 - full of windows, balconies, corridors, rooms - crammed full of enemies. But NO. You are still fighring in fight-rooms. Sequence: "big room on the map - teleporting enemies - battle - checkpoint" is boring. Sometimes I felt like in Croc: Legend of the Gobbos or Tomb Rider. I'm affraid Bethesda doesn't hire talented level designers.
    Music is great. It's exactly what I supposed to hear sawing bodies in halves. The orgy for every heavy metal fan.
    All in all, I had a good time playing Doom Eternal. I didn't get exactly what I wanted, maybe my expectations were too high, but finally it's DOOM.    … Expand

Combat is the best of the game, fast frenzy and fun, when you really play you feel in the slayer's shoes, since you will not have time to think, what is recommended is that you learn what the weak points of the enemies are, since each weapon affects each enemy differently, which is perfect, however it takes some getting used to the controls at first, but then it's worth it. As for the content of the game, it is quite extensive, with many missions, many collectibles (if not too many), among which there are toys, history information pages, music discs, etc. The game also has two expansions for the story of which one has already come out and the second is possible that it will come out in early 2021, the expansion is quite fun, somewhat shorter than the initial campaign, but it is not bad at all. And finally, the game has a multiplayer mode, for which it is not even necessary to have the base game to play it, the problem is the pairing, it is possible that being lvl 27 you will be paired with people who have been playing since day 1, something for which it is not easy to dedicate hours to this game mode. DOOM Eternal is a great game for Christian families like my own, It teaches good morals, good behavior, and politeness, My two sons always are playing awful games like Fortnight, and Apex Legends where all you do is just kill people! But Eternal you kill demons (Which I think is very appropriate)As a mother of three, I always try to find the best and most appropriate games for my kids.     Great gore, could of had even more in my opinion but still satisfying. Great weapons, good challenges. It reminded me of Metroid Prime sometimes which was awesome. This is the best FPS I've played since Doom 2016, it's challenging and makes you think more than most FPS.

    The new Battle Mode I didn't like at first but I stuck with it and eventually got good at it and had a lot of fun with it, except a lot of people would quit if they had to be the Slayer which was annoying sometimes. It's unique but I got over it after about a week and unlocking all the Series One content. I enjoyed Doom 2016's multi-player mode much more in hindsight.

    Getting the Platinum Trophy is fairly quick and easy. You should be able to do it within a week if you put in the time.    … Expand

Because of it's genre it's still going to be repetitive in nature, and the story is pretty straightforward, and there will be no character development whatsoever. They make up for that with more tactical shooting gameplay, spraying will get you killed; you must remain moving, enemies have weakpoints, general weakness, etc. The game mixes exploration, platforming and enemy encounters pretty well, and overall this is probably one of the best fps games this gen.

    Bonus: they also have a multiplayer gamemode called battlemode. It's a 2 v 1 mode, one player is the doomguy, other 2 are demons.. with all their abilites available to them, it's essentially a deathmatch. Demons can summon extra A.I enemies, and overall it's pretty unique. mechanic wise it's solid, but personally I don't see myself spending a lot of time in this mode.I personally didn't really like playing as doomguy and there are just better multiplayer games on the market. But options never hurt.

You seriously get your money's worth and I'm not even referencing the replay value, which is through the roof. The graphics are superb. The frenetic gameplay is superb. The soundtrack...is superb. I love every aspect of this game-including the new "platform-type-gameplay" in certain areas which really encourages the exploration aspects. I bought Doom 2016 and thought it was a good game. Doom Eternal annhiliates that predecessor in every possible way!

The addition of the chainsaw charging for ammo drops was great because it encourages an even faster pace. A genius gameplay loop has been created within this game: chainsaw for ammo, fire belch for armor, and glory kill for health. This is fantastic because the game encourages you to use your movement to traverse the battle arenas looking for fodder to increase one of your dwindling supplies.

    Overall/TL;DR DOOM: Eternal is quite the masterpiece in terms of FPS campaigns. Pacing is excellent, platforming is excellent, combat is the best Id has crafted, and the secrets less tedious than DOOM (2016). I would rate this game a high 9.

    I enjoyed this game tremendously. Gameplay was tight, graphics awesome and storyline is coherent with the mythos. I have only one major criticism is that it didn't do enough to differentiate itself from its predecessor.

    I don't much like online multiplayer, so I'm not reviewing that part of the game. This is my opinion for the single player campaign.

    If you like great FPS games Doom eternal probably the best you can buy right now. Improving Doom 2016 combat in pretty much everything. And i didint had any problems with jumping puzzles in this game like everybody else (they actually is ok) :) But i missing doom 2016 multiplayer it was not that bad as people told. Slayer vs Demons getting old pretty fast

    Honesty paying 96.48 dollars for this game was completely worth it because
    -The level design is amazing I mean if you just take a look around and see how much detail is put into everything it all feels just so well crafted

    Doom eternal is a great game. It is one of the best FPS I played and I finished it in like 2 days.screw off anyone who says the jumping and dashing are not fun and they are certainly not puzzles they take 5 minutes tops on the hard levels.the only person who would think that is hard is a 5 year old. People also say that the game is trying to be retro and it is because that is what doom isDoom eternal is a great game.     Game is incredible. Graphics are great. I like the level design, enemies, and weapons way better than Doom 2016. The game really takes you to some incredible locations. The gameplay is the best in any game I’ve ever played. You will see in other reviews that the dash,double jump, and poles ruin the game. This is not true in the slightest. The story is pretty good too. If your not into story then you can skip the cut scenes and just slaughter demons. If story is super important to you, then great. Also why are so many reviewers complaining about jumping. It is not rocket science. THIS game is better than Doom 2016 in every way. It is my favorite game of all time. The Doom Slayer is possibly the most bad ass protagonist in video game history. Honestly the game is all about gameplay, exterminating demons, and looking cool while doing it.
