Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a nice RPG based on the popular anime/manga Japanese franchise. The gameplay is solid and enjoyable even if is quite traditional, there are lots of mission and 250 Digimon, but still feels like a Vita game running on the PS4.

Cyber Sleuth doesn't reinvent the JRPG that comprises its core, but for a Digimon title, this is a solid step in the right direction.

This is not a memorable game, but it is a gift for all the fans of Digimon, and its simple mechanics help to approach it to any kind of player. Its story becomes diffuse and you may lose the interest, but even with that it is pretty fun.

An easy recommendation for those who watched the anime back in the day and those who have kept up with the series.

It’s still a halfway entertaining game and one of the better uses of the license.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a game that should greatly appeal to any who were fond of the series at any point in its history, and has plenty to offer to those unfamiliar with it.

It’s another game of discovering magical creatures that do battle for you, but it feels modern and up to date, with decent graphics and has more mechanics than a broken down Bugatti.

It doesn’t set new standards for the genre, nor is one of the best classic jrpgs around, but it does its job more than decently, especially if you’re a Digimon fan. The PS4 port could have been way better visually, though.

Whether a returning fan or simply someone looking for a new roleplaying game to play, Cyber Sleuth caters to both parties. Although those familiar with the brand stand to gain more from this recent revival of the series, the gameplay systems are accessible for just about anyone. Still, despite its overall fun factor, Digimon Story isn’t exactly innovative, while also being hamstrung by a few niggling issues.

I love the JRPG genre, and while the turn-based and slightly grindy nature of the combat likely will not bring new fans to the series, I found it comfortable and accessible to play.

For the 15th anniversary and the first Digimon game to be released in the west in over seven years, the fans deserved better than the localization effort put forth here. Still, despite these issues, the core gameplay remains strong and stands as a fun game to play- just not to read.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a good RPG with solid gameplay mechanics and a strong identity.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth isn’t a perfect video game interpretation of Bandai Namco’s long-running franchise, but it’s a huge step in the right direction for fans who have been waiting to see the series get on Pokémon’s level. The core gameplay is simple but addictive, making this a perfectly accessible jumping-on point for both casual and hardcore fans of RPGs and Digimon.

It may not wow PS4 owners in terms of looks and mission structure, but there is plenty to be enjoyed here.

A great RPG with an interesting backdrop and a ton of content, perfect for Digimon fans, with some issues that just can’t be overlooked for non-fans.

There's a decent JRPG here, if just incredibly dull. Digimon fans will find plenty to enjoy, whereas casual observers of the series will probably be better off by picking another JRPG.

There's no dancing around the fact that Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a disappointment. Despite a pleasant art direction and a good representation of the digital monsters, the gameplay is unbalanced, the challenge for the player is basically non-existent, and the storyline is too verbose and full of clichés.

Under the eye candy of the game's flashy attack animations there is a deep and yet easy to grasp battle system that can be likened to the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. If you love digimon or are even just ab RPG fab, Cyber Sleuth is a MUST HAVE. Full Review »

Speaking of the combat...If you've played the Shin Megami Tensei series (such as Nocturne PS2 or SMT:IV 3DS), then hopefully you will enjoy the combat in this game because it is similar, but unique enough because it's Digimon of course. The exploitation of weaknesses, creature fusion, hidden effect moves and special attacks are all here from the SMT series.

There's a hub world, and the graphics are fine but my main gripe is that the difference between this and the Vita version is roughly only ~1.1 GB, so honestly how much improvement could there be? Oh well, at least we get to play on the big screen. The traveling areas are nice looking but nothing like a big budget game like Bloodborne or GTA V.

This is my first review for Metacritic, mostly because I've been lazy to create an account but so many great RPGs for the PS4 are coming soon, so why not give some input! Will edit back this review later if possible for more useful info.

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a must buy for anyone interested in playing through an engaging storyI'll try to keep this short and sweet. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a must buy for anyone interested in playing through an engaging story while creating their own unique team of powerful monsters. You don't have to know about Digimon in order to understand or enjoy this game. With that being said, fans of the Digimon series just might die and go to Heaven while playing this game because the developers have done the Digimon series such justice I can't even describe it in words.

It is so refreshing to see a Digimon game on a next gen console, and the fact that it is REALLY good makes the long wait even more worth it. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun JRPG. The game takes around 70 hours to beat, has hard difficulty settings, new game +, tons of Digimon to train and create a team with, and even online battles to see who has the best combination and strategy. I hope this game gets the publicity and praise it deserves!
