When all is said and done I like the Warmind expansion more than Osiris. It features more likable characters, a more entertaining story, and way better post-game activities. It probably won’t change anyone’s opinion of Destiny 2 – so if you like the gameplay, graphics, sound (amazing score as always), and the story up to this point, Warmind does a great job pushing that experience even higher.

People thought that the previous expansions were too simple, and they were right, so Bungie kicked it in the other direction and now we have gotten what we have asked for, even if it feels like it’s too difficult. The balance between effort and reward is now a right of passage and something that is respectful instead of expected. Warmind is a good way for Bungie to begin to right the ship of their D2 game and make it closer to what was promised at the beginning of this Destiny journey.

While the brief campaign didn’t do much to impress, Bungie managed to give plenty of reasons for players to log back in and continue playing. Warmind is the next step in the right direction on an ever-evolving journey.

Warmind effectively rounds out Destiny 2’s first year, and represents a franchise in a strange period of transition. The game seeks to maintain some of its successful new features, like better destinations and clan integration, even as it simultaneously tries to recapture some of the magic and investment that characterized its predecessor. The weapon is aiming at the right target, and now it just needs to hit that precision shot.

A better DLC than the previous one.

Destiny 2: Warmind is more of the same built on a shifting foundation. Try it if you’re curious about the direction the game is going.

I don't know how they did it but Bungie managed to make an expansion that's EVEN SHORTER and MORE nonsensical than the previous one, Curse ofI don't know how they did it but Bungie managed to make an expansion that's EVEN SHORTER and MORE nonsensical than the previous one, Curse of Osiris. After a meager 3.5 hours of play, I had finished the entire main story, all the adventures, lost sectors, and post-story Ana missions. I had looted all the sector chests, unlocked five of the frequency loot crates, and finished the first two stages of the end-game hand cannon quest I got. Even managed to complete an Escalation Protocol event even though the 6 of us who ran into the event were underleveled and supposedly undergeared for it. Barely killed the hive bosses by the skin of our teeth but if we're able to do it now, just think how easy it's going to be when we're power level 370+.

As has been reported by Datto and others, the progression is slowed with this DLC with 340/345 (modded) as an initial soft cap at which point weekly milestones and end game activities are the only way to progress. I reached that 345 cap before even reaching the new max level cap of 30. All in under 3.5 hours. All that's left is grinding the same tired mechanics for weapon collections. The aforementioned hand cannon quest, for example: Kill Hive, Kill Cabal with the weapon, then kill yellow bar bosses with the weapon... we've done this multiple times before. Yawn.

As for the story... In the second mission, you're told a new big evil is awoken. In the fourth mission, you're told that said big evil is so big and evil that it almost defeated the Warmind itself in the past. One mission later, you defeat the big evil with a spear. Well ok then. Anyone wanting a decent amount of lore, just keep walking. This expansion is just as ridiculously nonsensical as the rest of the game.
