Warming was a generally pleasing addition to Destiny 2, and I'd say it's a big step in the right direction from Bungie. The world is reminiscent of D1's Mars but the polar theme is a welcome change. The story is somewhat short but the dlc does not lack in lore, and the length of the story is made up by the addition of many extra hours worth of gameplay from other sources. Unlike Curse of Osiris, the new zone is actually pleasing to explore as there is a constant amount of content to play and the quests actually feature rewards that are worthwhile. The additional armor brings a somewhat fresh look to the classes and the new warmind themed weapons are not simply given to players but are earned through quests. While there is no new race of enemies (which can be expected from $20 dlc) and the cabal face no change, the frost hive do have a fresh look much like the fallen received in D1's Rise of Iron. Overall it's a fun addition to Destiny 2 and the new world and activities make up for a short story. Expand

Warmind is a refreshing dlc that gives players a meaningful addition to Destiny 2. The story length is not a major issue as players need to finish the story in order to reach post story content which is definitely worthwhile. Warmind is surely a step in the right direction and MUCH better than the previous Destiny 2 expansion. The story is better made (albeit short). BUT noone plays or should play D2 for the story. D2 is all about the gunplay and the mechanics, the top notch visuals, the music, the presentation.
Warmind may not bring everyone back to D2 but it's totally worth it for current D2 players.

Those who give it 0s and 1s, must be either PUBG/Fortnite players who prefer to play with 17 year olds with no life whatsoever.

I have been an avid Destiny player since day one of Destiny 1, and I have not played in a few weeks due to many of the issues that have been repeated throughout the community. If I were rating the UPDATE including the changes unlocked for all players, this would be a 10. Although many of the improvements are separate from the purchase of this DLC, I feel that they complement each-other in a way that elevates the new content beyond its' admittedly lackluster campaign. This update is aimed at endgame content, not story. If the story was amazing and double the length, it would still be burned through in 1-2 days and we would go back to mourning over lack of "reasons to play". I feel that the purpose of the DLC was to catapult you through a few missions and set the stage for the new endgame grind in the form of Escalation Protocol, collectibles and the pursuit of masterworks. They certainly could have made the story content longer and more meaningful while still supporting the endgame, but if I have to choose, I will gladly take longevity. Please note, no review will really be complete until all of the content is released. We have yet to see the new Raid Lair, and if it is anything like the last one it is well worth the $20 price tag by itself (in my opinion). If you enjoy the core of the game, the gunplay and the grind, this is more to sink your teeth into. If you are looking for a drastic overhaul of the core gameplay, I suggest you wait for September when a more comprehensive rework is expected. They are likely to release expansions 1 and 2 along with the September content in a bundle, so that may be a better choice for anyone who is in that camp. I do not think this is a masterpiece by any means, but I do think that a lot of hard work went into this content and it has breathed new life and excitement into the game for me. Expand

Vicarious Visions first attempt at developing in the beloved/despised Destiny universe. As a 20 dollar expansion, this is by far the best value yet. 4 hours story with adventures lost sectors and chests. Another 180 min of finding collectables. 2 hours of fun quests and I have not even touched pvp, raid, new strikes, and I'm still too weak for escalation protocol. The people complaining about this game are the same people playing FTP Fortnite and base all of their hobbies on what's the most popular. I base mine off gameplay and off of good mechanics, graphics and sound. Destiny 2 is a well-rounded and underappreciated package, and this DLC is a great extension to the people that stuck with it like me.

. An excellent addition to what was before. I really liked the innovations and added mechanics. Do not forget - haters will always hate.

Great expansion! Plenty to do and enjoying the return to Mars. Hats off to Bungie for turning things around and giving the fans what they needed to stay with the game.

This expansion was awesome i don't understand why people are complaining about it this expansion addressed many issues that the fans had a problem with from Osiris and the base game its almost like the fan base is just complaining about D2 because now that all they know how to do overall its a good expansion the community ruins it though just a heads up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Warmind, an expansion with flavour it takes the concept of Rasputin and further defines it from the original game. Now the expansion is fluid and has remarks of interest but lacks the full experience I was hoping for.

This expansion has what I would call a plot that differs in giving you a story and more like a reason to commit to a journey. The story was fun and had more lore based characters like Nokris, and fuller views with the Hive which I liked as the Hive are my favourite enemy faction.

However the idea of the execution of the story was meh, it dabbled in and out of the lore like someone reading part of a book and then skipping a few chapters and continuing, overall feeling rushed and not as polished as it could have been.

Now the story behind could have had more attention but the missions and the location of Mars was highly enjoyed by me as I feel that it really gave new scope on the Hive and Mars as a whole. What lacked though was not the detail in the world or characters but the atmosphere of there inclusion, meaning more could have been done to make them seem more purposeful. For example when you defeat Xol on the final story mission it seems as though the Hive don't care and still fight as if their Worm God is still alive.

Another point which I liked was the little secrets and puzzle elements when out free roaming as they added a nice sense of adventure although they do seem shallow in the ultimate ending which again could have been attended to.

Overall this was not bad and was nice addition to the Destiny 2 world, and the push in lore based characters was also nice, but it seems like more could have been done to rally what the original Destiny had in terms of it's first expansions namely House of Wolves and Dark Below which were much more fleshed out in comparison. This expansion was good but missed aspects to make it great.

Warmind is an incremental improvement over Curse of Osiris, so those looking for an expansion that really adds something significant to Destiny 2 will have to pin their hopes on Forsaken which launches in September.

Much remains to be done, certainly, but after a dire six months, Destiny is, at last, back on track. [Aug 2018, p.104]

Unlike Osiris, which was completely missable, I would recommend playing Warmind if you got it. Go ahead and jump in and give it a try. There is good fun to be had with the new exotics and masterworks, a grind to keep you busy a few hours per week. The game is better and this is the first real sign that the Year 2 expansion might finally turn the corner and make Destiny 2 something like the game Destiny 1 left off with.
