    Amazing. Great storry, new weapons, new gear, Gambit is amazing, new puzzle for weapons. Good job Bungie.

    Technically I'm covering year 1 & 2 here but this game is so good I had to go cold turkey on it after 12 months as it was literally taking over my life. Possibly in my top 5 games of all time considering the addictiveness.
    The gunplay is done so well and the allure of better/unique weapons makes the grind feel worth it, especially for raids, where this game took it to a new level for me.    Technically I'm covering year 1 & 2 here but this game is so good I had to go cold turkey on it after 12 months as it was literally taking over my life. Possibly in my top 5 games of all time considering the addictiveness.
    The gunplay is done so well and the allure of better/unique weapons makes the grind feel worth it, especially for raids, where this game took it to a new level for me. Gives the game so much longevity.

    Honestly I think the people who rubbish this game just haven't gotten to the point where they're ready to raid and/or don't have mates that play it. But each to their own    … Expand

    Overhyped/priced but i like it.
    Enjoy looking for hours and hours trying to find "the ideal raid team" on forums but... I like it.
    After a disastrous launch followed by two lackluster dlcs and many controversies Bungie comes in with Forsaken in an attempt to revive the game and fix its issues.

    I have been kinda critical of this series since the open beta of the first game. I never got the hype. It just seemed like a MMO-like Borderlands with less interesting characters and loot. I guess it didn't help that I only played vanilla D1, but the slightly crappy    It's sad that it took a $40 expansion and the death of a beloved main character to get me into Destiny 2, but here I am.

    I have been kinda critical of this series since the open beta of the first game. I never got the hype. It just seemed like a MMO-like Borderlands with less interesting characters and loot. I guess it didn't help that I only played vanilla D1, but the slightly crappy business practice behind the Taken King edition of the game put me off from buying any of the expansions. That and the only buddy of mine that actually enjoyed the game had a busted PS4, so I had no one else to play the game with at the time. Fast forward 3 years later, Destiny 2 is now the game most of my friends talk about.

    I played the open beta and a trial version of the full game, but I still couldn't enjoy it. I thought many times about buying the vanilla version of the game for cheap so I could just have something else to play with friends, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it unless I had the expansions. So I waited until they finally put the game + all DLCs on sale for $20. I went straight through the main campaign and Curse of Osiris, but that appeal still wasn't there. I just felt too far behind everyone. It's definitely a game you have to play at the moment.

    Even after seeing what was coming with the Forsaken expansion, I just kinda dropped the game. Then one day, I decided to give the game another go. Forsaken was just around the corner, so I thought why not? I finished the Warmind campaign and started grinding for an Exotic weapon, playing Strikes, just having a good time with friends...and I really liked it. Since Forsaken was supposed to help improve the game, I thought I would go ahead and buy the expansion now before another one comes out and I'm late to the party again.

    After a surprisingly long campaign (for a Destiny game), I gotta say this was a great experience. Hardcore Destiny fans will tell you that you don't play these games for the campaign (they're totally right btw), but Forsaken is the one big caveat to that. The search for Cayde's killers is one of the best campaigns I've played in a while. The Tangled Shore is such a cool place to explore. There's also a place called the Dreaming City that I've barely even touched yet that is just filled with secrets upon secrets. The upcoming Raid attached to this expansion looks promising as well. It also wraps up the story for this DLC. Gambit is also a super fun game mode to play with friends. I also have to mention the new Strike that takes place in a location you briefly visit in the game. My friends who were huge fans of the first game absolutely geeked out over it, so I'm sure you will too if you're a D1 vet.

    All this being said, if you bought this game when it first launched at $60 ($70 if you bought it w/ the DLC or an extra $35 if you bought the expansion pass later on), you have every right to be pissed about the state of the game and the lack of interesting content in it's DLC. Hardcore Destiny fans will tell you this was to be expected, but this should never have happened. They went completely backwards at launch and post-launch content. Lots of fans have been alienated by the game. However, with the recent price drops in content and the addition of Destiny 2 being a PS Plus game this month, now is a good time to get into the game and all the content it has to offer now. I still don't like the idea that you have to buy the first two expansions to play the new one, but it actually feels like it's worth the full $60 now.

    Another note: I'm kinda wary of the Annual Pass content. I'm hoping the devs heard the community's complaints about past content and make sure this is some good stuff, but I'm not 100% on board until I've seen some results. Even though it has one more DLC than the first expansion pass, we'll have to wait and see if the $35 is worth it or not. This is a lot of money to drop on one game, even if you buy some of the discounted bundles.

    Overall, Destiny 2: Forsaken is a welcomed improvement to a flawed yet fun game. This is a good time for newcomers to take the plunge. Veterans of the game will have much to sink their teeth into. Some critics and detractors may have a change of heart after seeing these changes, but it's understandable to see that people might still be disappointed in the game. Even though story content is something you can do solo, playing this game with a friend is the way to go.    … Expand

    Good: The grind is back. No longer are things just handed out to every player who logs in. Exotics feel rare    Oh, Destiny 2, where to start? Well, for one, don't listen to the negative reviews on this page. They don't represent the genius in this expansion. Destiny has always been a game that polarizes both critics and "fans" alike but it hits every mark perfectly.... most of the time.

    Good: The grind is back. No longer are things just handed out to every player who logs in. Exotics feel rare and exclusive because they honestly don't drop very often. Random rolls make the chase for gear fun again, because trying to get that perfectly rolled weapon takes time. Shattered Throne, Destiny's first dungeon, is one of the best experiences I have ever had in a Destiny game and plays like a mini-raid. Last Wish is hands down the BEST raid experience I have ever had with this franchise. It's long, difficult, and rewards precise teamwork and communication. The Dreaming City is by far one of the most beautiful spaces ever created in a video game. Bows. Bows are absolutely epic and a blast to use.

    Bad: Infusion economy is a bit broken. Relying on Masterwork Cores to infuse gear is a pain when drops for them are wildly inconsistent and the options to actually earn them are scarce (should be fixed on 30 October). Playstation exclusive armor is some of the ugliest armor ever created. Looks like a 5 year old drew it. PvP is still a mess. Shotguns still ruin most experiences and it's not rewarding for non-PvP players. DLC price was steep for an expansion considering this is the game we SHOULD have received when D2 released.

    Story: Forsaken's campaign is both epic and emotional. What starts with the death of a good friend and the most beloved character in the Destiny universe, spirals into a bounty hunt through some creative play areas and fun boss fights, to a final encounter that surprised many. For most, the final boss may have been totally random, but for those of us who like reading lore and KNEW what was coming in the raid, it was a great segue into that activity. We still may never know who pulled that trigger at the end, but the campaign ends on a great note and checked the boxes I wanted. 10/10

    Weapons: A lot of the new weapons feel kind of meh, but there are some that are just awesome. Bungie is still the king of tight gunplay and Forsaken feels expertly tuned for the most part. Some standout weapons like Luna's Howl, Redrix's Broadsword, all bows, Bygones pulse rifle, and the Chattering Bone raid pulse are great. It's nice that Bungie still kept weapons like the Ikelos SG, Whisper of the Worm, and Sleeper Simulant viable in this expansion and they still take up a spot in my inventory. 9/10

    Exotic Weapons: Out of all the new exotics, some of them are just fantastic to use. Wish-Ender is difficult to earn and requires a steep learning curve to master due to the long draw time, but the True Sight bonus while using it makes it fun. The Wavesplitter is a fantastic Trace Rifle and requires a little skill to use. Ace of Spades is much better than it was in D1. Malfeasance feels underwhelming but it's getting a buff soon. Cerberus+1 is an interesting concept, but can be a little difficult to master. One Thousand Voices is truly an exotic. It hits hard and is worth the grind. Two-Tailed fox is so much fun to use and can take enemies out of their super with the suppression rocket while destroying them with the second one. 9/10

    Exotic Armor: Every guardian now has an exotic armor piece that gives super energy back. Some of the designs are awesome (Ursa Furiosa, Shards of Galanor, Chromatic Fire) and some are just meh (Antaeus Wards, Gwisn Vest). Overall I like the new armor designs and they provide some great, if only slightly gamebreaking perks (Usa Furiosa...) 8/10

    Hunter Supers: Arcstrider - meh. The staff spin is great at reflecting projectiles back at enemies, but it's not useful in most content. Gunslinger - fantastic! Hunters finally have a super that can wipe a ton of enemies at once, and it melts bosses. Nighstalker - fun, but situational. Flawless Execution helps play on the "assassin" feel. 9/10

    Titan Supers: Striker - ok. It's difficult to use and you only get one smash. Sunbreaker - fun, but situational. The hammer is fun, but not great.. Sentinel - fun, but situational. The shield ability is great in Last Wish encounters and can save your team a lot, but it's not a strong class. 5/10

    Warlock Supers: Stormcaller - fun, but hard to control. This super turns you into an anime character and puts out some good damage but can be hard to control. Dawnblade - fun, but situational. This super is a necessity in raids. It provides a great damage buff and protection, all while giving the team a large area to roam in. Voidwalker - EPIC. Nova Warp is a beast. It melts in PvP and destroys adds in PVE. Essential.

    Overall Forsaken gives us exactly what we want. Play it and you won't be sorry.    … Expand

While fairly straight forward, the redemption story to avenge Cayde works to actually add some emotion to the story -- something that Destiny has always lacked. There are more cut-scenes then previous campaigns and actualForsaken is a fantastic expansion that fixes almost all of the issues that plagued Destiny 2 at launch. The campaign is the best of any Destiny base game or expansion. While fairly straight forward, the redemption story to avenge Cayde works to actually add some emotion to the story -- something that Destiny has always lacked. There are more cut-scenes then previous campaigns and actual optional dialogue events with story characters. It is certainly a step in the right direction and a patch that I hope Destiny continues on moving forward with their campaigns and story content.

    There are two new playable areas in the expansion, and Bungie did a good job making you want to explore them. In past expansion it felt tedious to explore the Lost Sectors and tucked away areas of the new environments, but they did a good job giving you reasons to explore this time around.

    The Gambit mode is fantastic and extremely fun. As someone who rarely plays Crucible, Gambit scratches that itch and gives me a mode that I constantly want to play. When I am done with the weekly quests that give Powerful Gear that upgrades your character (and there is A LOT to do -- I did not complete it all week 1), I will now have a mode I can enjoy played again and again. It is fun, fast paced, and exciting. Large comebacks are possible, and the PvP cross-over elements allow for each match to feel unique.

    The perk system on guns and armor is upgraded and improved, and random rolls are back on guns. Gone are the days of getting a duplicate gun and immediately breaking it down. Now a duplicate can have better perks than the version of the gun you already have. Destiny is and always will be a grindy game, and random rolls makes the grind much more enjoyable.

    The new sub-classes are fresh and fun. Some have enough variety to seem like new classes all together-- as all the perks and the Ultimate ability are unique.

    I haven't gotten to play the raid yet, but if it is anything like the rest of the expansion, Bungie hit a home run. I had stopped playing D2 after the first expansion but Forsaken has me fully back and hooked.

    The only negatives are small: They did not increase the number of shaders you can carry, so I constantly have a fully stack and they have to be sent to the post master. They did make it to where you can now break down multiple shaders at a time, which is a nice quality of life addition, but I really wish they would have increased inventory space as well. The other negative is that I am now many hours in and have only unlocked one of the 3 new subclasses for my class. I really wan to get my feet wet with the other subclasses, but unlocking the ability to use them requires grinding a difficult team-oriented event that requires you to get lucky with a random drop. While it can be beaten with a large group when you are under-leveled, the event has a recommended light level about 25 higher than I am currently at -- and I played A LOT this week. The difficulty in getting the additional subclasses unlocked has me yearning to start leveling my alt character to try out a different classes new subclass.

    In summary, the expansion is fantastic. It is the best Destiny has ever been (including Destiny 1). They fixed all the major issues I had (the Grind is back, exotic loot is actually hard to get again and thus feels special when you get it!), and added some new and surprising elements as well. If you like Destiny at all, you will like Forsaken. Sure it isn't a game for everybody (gotta be ready to grind!). But if you like what Destiny has to offer as an experience, you will be happy with Forsaken. It is well worth the 40 dollars.    … Expand

They have some sort of vendetta against the franchise and are trying to dissuade people, probably without even playing the expansion. Any critic review that is released before that point should be taken with a grain of salt, whether positive or negative. I am scoring based on my personal opinion and without prejudice based on past releases. Even without the additional content, I am confident in scoring 9/10, because I feel a 10 should be reserved for masterpieces (Witcher 3, The Last of Us, etc.). I would not call this a masterpiece, but certainly a pinnacle for the franchise. I have been playing Destiny since the original was released, and I am in awe of what they have accomplished here. Beautiful set pieces, vastly improved story telling and exciting rewards. If you are on the fence, I suggest watching some gameplay footage and making up your own mind. This game has drawn me in like no other, and if you give it a chance I believe it will do the same for you.… Expand

    I quit playing Destiny 2 because there just wasn't enough to do, my guardian felt as powerful as wet toilet paper (I literally limped through the first parts of the game), and the rewards were just the same old crap over and over again. I came back a few weeks ago, hoping for my love of D1 that Forsaken could right the wrongs I felt had been done to me by D2. Bungie did me dirty and I shouted it from the rooftops and I do not retract those fair criticisms but Forsaken is a redemption to me. They should have named it Homecoming.     Simply breath-taking. It's an amazing expansion and it breaks me to see that 90% of the negative reviews are from people who want to hate on Activision or haven't even played the campaign yet. The Narrative is unlike anything we have previously seen on destiny, the feel of the came is crisp (the new weapon system and TTK changes make sure of that), and for the first time in destinySimply breath-taking. It's an amazing expansion and it breaks me to see that 90% of the negative reviews are from people who want to hate on Activision or haven't even played the campaign yet. Just because Bungie made massive screw-ups (the curse of the disappointment and a less disappointing Warmind) we need to remember that they orchestrated one of the greatest franchise of video game history Halo. Let's not forget that they also made The Taken King, which it is seen and Destiny 1's savior. What I am trying to say is that Bungie is capable of creating an iconic and Forsaken is nothing short of a masterpiece. Oh, and for those oblivious who say that the expansion is overpriced and that you have to pay 150$ if you haven't got the expansions, there is a bundle that you can buy for sixty bucks that include Destiny 2, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. In my opinion, that IS worth the sixty dollars. Take a look at the taken king. It was also 40$ and only included 16-18 GB of content. Forsaken is ALSO 40$ and it has 47 GB OF CONTENT. That is almost enough to make Forsaken a stand-alone game. Therefore, be happy that you got a full game worth's of story, content, lore, equipment, and exotics for just 60 bucks.… Expand

    I have been so addicted to this expansion. It still needs some work in some areas and understanding to be fair to their customers from a price perspective, but they are clearly heading in the right direction now gameplay wise.
    So many quests, interesting characters, a dark story and the loot is actually worth grinding for.     Yes, D2:Forsaken is MILES better than the base game and previous DLC, but the expansion is not perfect. Cons below:
    - The story bosses are way too easy than they should be and there wasn't really a solid build up structure before fighting them. I just saw them as "another enemy" nothing too exciting but their background stories are quite good.
    - The questing while expansive with so many things to do, they are very confusing to navigate. Most of the time, I forget if the quests I'm doing are bounties, daily/weeklys or quest steps. Bungie REALLY need to work out another questing layout structure to avoid this issue.
    - In terms of linking with the other expansions, I don't think it really does. From what I've experienced, they have included gear pieces from previous expansions into Forsaken quests, but quest wise, they all seem very disjointed from eachother, leaving them mostly redundant.
    - Finally, the pricing. My god. This is criminal. There is a great game forming behind this paywall, but the "buy the game again with extra content" tactic won't work forever. Its only going to make everybody lose faith.

    Overall, if you still have the slightest faith in Destiny and believe that they can really form an incredible game, this is heading to that point and I highly recommend coming back to it and seeing for yourself. Theres plenty to do now and I can feel the love being put into the game. Its as if they have hit momentum now.
    However, If Bungie drop the ball and screw over their customers with money again, D2 will be in the ground.
    I really hope it has a great future because without money/DLC greed and a bit more fine tuning to the game, they have the potential to craft a masterpiece.    … Expand

Если бы bungie не скупились и выпустили ванильную дестани с большим контентом, а не с сюжеткой на 10 часов, и 1 рейдом (по факту) то можно было бы радоваться за новому дополнению. А сейчас мои друзья даже ванильную версию не хотят брать ибо там нет контента.     Amazing game, best they've ever put out for this franchise by far! the story is very non linear unlike in the past and immediately grabs your attention and pulls you in. all the gun slot time to kill changes are great, and and the new supers are beautiful and very fun to use!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nice, finally the best of D1 + D2 in one game. For all us who haven been playing since D1 i feel this is an excelent comeback.

    Lot's of nostalgia felt! Feels like Taken King for D1, hopefully next time it won't be like that and keep all the good things since the beggining.

    The dreaming city was a great addition, two sandboxes in one DLC, and the bows, those are great, me new primary de facto.

    Gambit is amazing, finally some hybrid between PVE and PVP, and it's so fun.    … Expand

    I played all yesterday evening and was very pleased. The new bow and arrow seems like a win, the triumphs give a lot to do for a completionist like me, and the new infusion system means having a killer loadout will be something you earn, not something that just happens.

    Forsaken was to me what Destiny 2 needed for a while, like how Taken King was for Destiny 1, (Note I'll make references to Taken King a lot throughout this review), it had the campaign, the new enemy faction, even more mystery to the Hive and Taken. What Forsaken undoubtedly lacked though was the reason to commit, especially for the likes of solo players like myself.

    Introducing a new enemy with a new story on somewhat familiar ground was the basis of Forsaken, the death of Cayde-6, the quest for revenge, the familiar friend of Petra and the new face of the Spider, countless Scorn lead by bigger scorn all wrapped in the beautiful and scenic destinations of The Tangled Shore and Dreaming City.

    The new bounties to collect, enemies to fight, public event to complete, might not add a lot to the story but they added increased value to it's play cycle. The addition of new mode Gambit was an ace , more loot and engrams to scour the land for and the discovery of a few mysteries and easter eggs.

    What the problem is, is that while there is lot's of new things they don't all play right into your hand. Before Forsaken we had little to do, and a lot of grinding prior to that, Forsaken launches and the past has now repeated itself. Its like complete strike, crucible match, challenge, flashpoint, gambit match, this that. Repeated grind for gear that boosts your level a little bit, the exploration of strikes running dry after you've had to grind them for the past 5 hours, with mind you no strike specific loot on Heroics, all adds up to you playing a great expansion for however long you can keep interested.

    Destiny 1 had Taken King that expansion had reasons for the grind, encouraged you delve deeper, asked you to find the secret loot, begged you to keep coming back, why? because that expansion took narrative and story and mashed it with loot and play to give you something to keep coming back for, Forsaken for me is starting to feel dry and only a couple days after launch is not what it should be doing.

    Overall the story was fun, the remnants of Prison of Elders coming back was a nice addition, but the bolted on grind and lack of fun for solo players, even though they said they wanted more focus on that, has taken what should have been the big push and reduced it to the cut and stab next chapter in a game that I love so much, but now starting to be angry with.    … Expand

    Destiny 2 Forsaken is the redemption expansion of destiny 2. I have finished the campaign and I can tell you that it is amazing. It keeps you on your toes and is difficult enough to keep me engaged I needed 2 buddies to help. The dark story is a great turn for Bungie. The final boss is awesome and is truly one of the best bosses in destiny history. The new supers are great and really mixDestiny 2 Forsaken is the redemption expansion of destiny 2.     This is the best Destiny has ever been at across the board. There are still issues that I have with it involving the story, the load times, the grinding and the sometimes frustrating lack of freedom the customization options feel. Overall though, I would recommend it and it's solid.

    Amazing Bungie! I'm so happy you got back to your roots no longer trying to please every person that complains. we never need to nerf anything because its a level playing field! If you're getting killed a lot in PVP its because other players are better than you! Quests and PVE need to be hard and challenging! As always thank you for an amazing game!

    Giving a ten right now because of people who haven't even played the expansion who are leaving negative reviews. The actual expansion so far is an 8.5/10 for me. There is a $60 version of D2 that comes with Destiny 2's base game, Curse of Osiris (small DLC), Warmind (small DLC), and Forsaken (huge DLC). Easily over 15 hours of campaign if you aren't speedrunning, but most of the content isGiving a ten right now because of people who haven't even played the expansion who are leaving negative reviews.     When I hung up my metaphorical destiny hat 2 months ago I thought id never come back/enjoy the game again. Forsaken has proven me wrong.

Playing D2 was a boring chore, and it can still be for some, but the chores are fun to play now. The whole game is fun to play since the most recent sandbox changes. Forsaken actually provides 2 new areas to explore. The Tangled Shores and the DreamingI must admit.     First of all, ignore the spiteful and sad reviews of people that never even played this expansion! I've been playing Forsaken for a bit now and it is so, so, so much better than the previous expansions. The story is awesome, the cutscenes are great and the amount of things to do is just insane.     Look no one has hated Bungie than me over the past few years for the numerous ridiculously stupid things they have done, which there are numerous complaints and Youtube Videos about... but Forsaken really is amazing and worth your money. I have had more fun in this past week than maybe ever playing Destiny or any game for that matter; I implore you to try it out if you are on the fence.

    Amazing.

    Destiny always had great gun play, but at times it lacked into story, or times it lacked in things to do.

    Forsaken really feels like a complete package. Graphics, Story, Content all great. It is the 1st time in Destiny where there is so much to do I am having trouble deciding what to do next.

    Bungie might've lost a portion of their player base for good, but for anyone that wishes to continue playing - or hop in now - Forsaken does a lot to fix Destiny 2, while forging its own identity.
