For those who may have wandered away from Destiny 2, the choice on Forsaken may come down to whether or not friends are jumping in. For newcomers, the Destiny 2 Legendary Collection is $60 and includes the base game and all expansions to this point, which is a ton of content for an enjoyable if flawed shooter.

Overall, this Forsaken expansion has made Destiny 2 a journey worth returning to. The daily grind feels a lot more manageable, with more chances to obtain end-game gear. There are some exciting new modes to dip into, and the new bounties system really encourages players to dig deep into the world. Destiny 2 is still an end-game grind, but with all the new and interesting ways to obtain your favourite gear, it's a much more rewarding experience than before.

I think of Destiny as a digital resort. Like a tourist trap, it provides a predictable, consistent experience that’s enlivened by its eye-catching environments. It’s all good until the feeling of stagnation sinks in.

Destiny 2 Forsaken is a generous expansion, with a lot of new and satisfying content, especially its campaign and the new Gambit mode, a fresh way to enjoy multiplayer.

An undeniable return to form for Bungie's shooter, boasting a very enjoyable campaign and breathing some much needed life into the overall experience. It reestablishes Destiny 2's status as a 'hobby' game, once again giving players good reason to come back on a regular basis, but your mileage will no doubt vary depending on your tolerance for the grind. With a hefty price tag, it's best to make sure that you know what you're getting into before lining up the shot.

The greatest thing in Forsaken is its Gambit mode, a hybrid competitive/cooperative mode where teams of four kill enemies for motes of light, and deposit as many as possible into a portal, which sends bigger enemies to the enemy team's arena. It's a refuge of pure brilliance, a reminder that Bungie can please everyone, and do it rather elegantly, but perhaps maybe not on the scale of an entire, living universe.

If this review reads like a roller coaster of emotions, that's because Destiny 2: Forsaken, like all things post-2010 Bungie, is lopsided.

what Destiny 2: Forsaken offers most is choice. Never before have Guardians had such agency, and the ability to choose between well-balanced PvE components and PvP modes means there’s now good options for all, regardless of individual play style or weapon choice. Whether you play as a clan or as a lone wolf, there’s plenty to do… and best of all, a myriad of ways to do it, too. [Provision Score = 80]

With its engaging and well-written story campaign, satisfying progression mechanics, and wealth of endgame pursuits, Forsaken does more than enough in helping Destiny 2 realize its full potential. It may be tough for some fans to forget and forgive Bungie’s earlier blunders, but if Forsaken is the studio’s way of making amends, then I’m certainly willing to give it another chance.

There is so much left to discover in Destiny 2: Forsaken, but the sections I've seen and played are the best that Bungie has offered us yet in Destiny 2. Forsaken feels like the transformative expansion for Destiny 2 that The Taken King was for Destiny. But Forsaken has the potential to surpass our bout with Oryx, ushering in the best age of Destiny we’ve ever seen. [Impressions after 6 hours of playtime]

With Forsaken, Destiny 2 is better than it’s ever been and it is undoubtedly worth coming back to.

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion is the most interesting thing to happen to the series in four years. The grind of leveling up and collecting relevant gear is slow and steady again, and exotic items feel truly rare and meaningful for the first time since the launch of the original “Destiny.” What’s old is new again, but Forsaken also innovates and reinvigorates; this joint effort from Bungie and High Moon Studios outdoes even 2015’s “Destiny: The Taken King.”

charging an extra $40-$80 for DLC that finally makes this a real game after the fans have already dropped $60-$120 for an unfinished rehash ofcharging an extra $40-$80 for DLC that finally makes this a real game after the fans have already dropped $60-$120 for an unfinished rehash of the first game is beyond redeemable. the sad truth is if this had been DLC included with the season pass i shelled out for on day one , i probably would have bought the annual pass. i get that its expensive to develop and maintain games but if i pay for a premium sandwich and you give me cold cuts and then try to charge me for bread a year later , i might not come back to your deli and i'm definitely not recommending it to any one. the die hards will shell out the cash for this and time will tell if its enough to keep the greed going or if bungie might learn something, sadly it will probably be the former. Overhyped/priced expansion with a few rehashed tropes added in. One new innovation and lots of bounty grinding.
