I had really high hopes for this DLC, but just like the other dlc for Destiny 2 I just feel very disappointed. This dlc doesn't go out of its way to push me forward in any meaningful way. This dlc doesn't go out of its way to push me forward in any meaningful way. I can't use the gear or weapons I want because infusion is broken and expensive, I'm bored out of my mind with the story so far and feel like the characters have no soul, none of the "improvements" bungie have implemented recently feel like they add anything amazing that Destiny 1 didn't already have and does better, and I'm frustrated that all the cool cosmetic stuff is locked behind the eververse again. My friends keep telling me it gets better once you get to level 50, they keep telling me the exotics are creative and fun, that the end game grind is super rewarding... I honestly have no drive to get to end game though as I'm burnt out from all the nonsense required to max out my character... again! If you love D2 and you wanted new content, go ahead and pick it up. There seems to be enough grind for those who are willing to put in the time. However, if you're like me and either got bored of Destiny 2 and its mediocre mechanics or if you literally have any other games to play I'd say give this dlc a pass. Also, Nolan North doesn't do Cayde any justice. I didn't even care about Cayde past the first mission because Nathan Fillion doesn't voice him in this DLC and Nolan's impression is really bad. Expand

Overhyped/priced expansion with a few rehashed tropes added in. One new innovation and lots of bounty grinding.

Throughout year 1 of Destiny 2, what we collectively said as a community was "Bungie, we'd like more things to do throughout the week rather than a series of milestones we can finish in a day." What Bungie heard, apparently, was "Bungie, we'd like Destiny 2 to be our second job." Because that's what D2 Forsaken is. What Bungie heard, apparently, was "Bungie, we'd like Destiny 2 to be our second job." Because that's what D2 Forsaken is. Bungie's balance team is schizophrenic once again and fails to find a good middle ground. We went from an extremely casual game to a game that's designed only for the streamers and the no-lifers who can spend 8+ hours per day playing.

Once you hit 500 and reach the light level soft cap progress slows to a crawl. To make a potentially long post shorter, while there's a bunch more available to do, if you're not grinding the daily challenges every day your progression is going to be minimal (and there are daily challenges for crucible, gambit, strikes, and more). The weekly challenges often require daily grinding as well. For instance, on Dreaming City my current weekly challenge is to finish 3 weekly bounties. One of the weekly bounties is to finish 8 daily bounties. Ikora's weekly challenge was to finish 20 other bounties.

They've added bounties to every single planet. While you don't technically have to bother with them the fact is the significantly increased cost to infuse (upgrade) weapons and armor practically mandates that you do them as often as possible in order to build up a stockpile of planetary materials -- especially since they nerfed the drop rate of materials from patrols, events, and chests between patch 2.0.0 and 2.0.0.1.

If you can only spare a couple hours a day, your progress will be tiny. If you can only spend a couple hours a week... well, you're gonna be stuck around the 500 soft cap for a long time.

Always remember that D2 originally got glowing reviews early on before the honeymoon period wore off. When people get through the story segment of Forsaken they're in for a rude awakening about end game grinding. The level of grind now is probably the worst it's been since vanilla D1, back when upgrading armor and weapons required planetary mats, glimmer, and ascendant shards/cores.

It's a glorified update with rehashed content and a few novelties that will get boring quickly. Destiny 2 is only worth it for raids, and PVP (sometimes). Enjoy looking for hours and hours trying to find the ideal raid team on forums (hours and hours and hours if you are new to the game) and don't have 5 other real life friends that want to play the activity at the exact same time as you.

Ok for a fair comment.... It happy this games is going on the right way but that how a games should be from the start so i only can said good luck but if want to say it the best still got a long way to go... Forsaken only give destiny 2 a good start but it does not mean it going to be as great as the past....

Fun game, but just seems too intertwined around micro transactions. I completed it with mainly blue green gear essentially as that is all that dropped for me.

I bought this DLC for much less than the original price, so that affects this review.

A few good additions, like the collections tab and lore page. The new settings are also pretty neat. However, Forsaken suffers from the same poor writing the base game did. Also very short in length.

Well ,here we are again,in the second era of the taken king, the dlc might be even be better and deserves higher, but with all the **** bungie pulled off they get -1 score
    positive
+ The campaign is good in destiny standards, but if it would have been a new halo campaign,it would have been garbage + The dreaming city is fantastic ,and holds many secrets + The raid is amazing and hard, but

+ The campaign is good in destiny standards, but if it would have been a new halo campaign,it would have been garbage
+ The dreaming city is fantastic ,and holds many secrets
+ The raid is amazing and hard, but it also gives a pride of accomplishment.(get it?)
+ Crucible is finally fun again, and the graviton meta is over!
+ Weekly resets feel finally great again with so many stuff changing every week
+ This dlc goes up to 600 power level,if somebody now says this dlc is over in a week,he definitly hasn't played this dlc
+ A lot of the weapons are no reskins, which is a wonder
+ The corrupted and warden of nothing are easily the best destiny 2 strikes by a long shot, the 2 other ones are okay but are like every other strike( the broodhold boss is also pretty good do)
+ The new crucible mode is in my opinion, the most fun destiny 2 crucible mode
+ The new crucible maps are alright to pretty good
+ Edge transit is the best and most unique exotic of the game, and their are also other good exotics
+ They have the balls to kill a character
    mixed
= malfeasance quest is a not fun and and pain in the ass quest, but because it is challenging,i gave it mixed
= Gambit is fun, don't get me wrong, but the sleeper makes gambit half the fun
    negative
    - The RNG is this game sucks as hard as getting a good player in a gold pack in fifa
    - It also has to do with RNG ,but plz bring keys back for nightfall strike specific weapons
    - I again feels like i wanted more of the campaign
    - Crucible is not perfect because the base d2 maps were designed for 4v4
    - Blind well is literally archeon's forge and will die if there comes a new wave based activity
    Conclusion:
The dlc is good, but not perfect,it kinda saved destiny 2 ,but it won't bring people to the game who hated it always in the first place,it is literally up to you or you want to pay 40 bucks

The state of Destiny 2 following the launch of Forsaken is arguably the best that Destiny has ever been. The problem is that such an argument exists. The problem is that such an argument exists. Much in the way that the Taken King saved Destiny 1 (D1), Forsaken has, at least for now, saved Destiny 2 (D2). But when D2 itself felt like a downgrade from the end of D1, it makes it hard to argue that Forsaken is innovative enough to warrant all the praise it has been getting.

Nevertheless, Forsaken gets a couple of things close to perfect. The grind is back which is something that D2 needed to remain relevant for its hardcore fan base. The base game spent too much effort on appealing to the casual player while Forsaken feels like it is made for the hobbyist who is willing to come back to the game week after week. The Dreaming City created what was likely the most exciting week in Destiny's history as the community figured out all of its secrets and how they affected the game (albeit, only a few made a meaningful impact on that game). The Last Wish raid was created as a very hard Day 1 experience with only 2 groups finishing within 24 hours, however it became far easier as everyone continued to level up. This is how a raid is supposed to be made.

Changes to the Crucible and the addition of Gambit have kept the PvP community afloat despite the removal of Trials of the Nine. For PvE players there is obviously the Dreaming City and Last Wish, but the story (like most other Destiny campaigns) is too short and feels repetitive.

Overall, on paper Forsaken nearly sounds like a perfect expansion for Destiny however it is that fact that it took Bungie over a year and a $40 dollar expansion on top of the $90 first year experience to make Destiny 2 what it should have been from day 1.

Overall, Forsaken is a step in the correct direction, but it arrived a year late. The fact that there is a debate as to whether D2 is even better than D1 (which the community has started to come to agreement that it is now) is a massive problem that Bungie will need to try their hardest to fix.

Forsaken is a solid expansion to Destiny 2 that more players were very excited about and it turned into a decent experience that was enjoyable enough.

Bungie might've lost a portion of their player base for good, but for anyone that wishes to continue playing - or hop in now - Forsaken does a lot to fix Destiny 2, while forging its own identity.

The sequel’s best expansion by a distance. This update delivers a lively campaign that deserves to lure lapsed players back into the Fallen fold. [Issue#155, p.97]
