    this is one of the best openings in a game i ever experienced

    One of the best games I've played in my entire life, but that's not to say it's for everyone. Make sure you understand the premise of the game before you buy it or you might just end up really disappointed

    Death Stranding is like a fine wine, it takes a certain level of maturity and appreciation to enjoy. This is not for the casual self-proclaimed "gamer" that requires fast-paced gunslinging action with killstreaks and points flashing on the screen to provide them with constant dopamine. I'm around 12 hours in and the game is far from "boring". From what I can tell so far, the game'sDeath Stranding is like a fine wine, it takes a certain level of maturity and appreciation to enjoy.     I do not do this kind of thing usually and my English might not be the best.

    But this game is breathtaking, I have not played an open world like this ever in my life, and lord knows I love open world games, but this one is just unique. I am no game designer so I'll try to make this to best of my capacity.     The in game mechanics are brilliant and most are quite original, the fact that walking up a mountain with 100kg of cargo is challenging is a facet of open world I had never seen.
    The mechanics with the Bts are fabulous and incredibly entertaining, the smules I have not gotten to try them out too much because they can indeed be quite challenging. The shooting and fighting is exactly what you can expect from a kojima led game.

    The sound design of the game is fabulous, I got nothing more or less to say about it.

    The story is brilliant, and the end is one of the most rewarding ending scenes I have ever had in any game out there, I have not been gaming for too long but 20 years I have been playing games since I found my fathers Sega and was playing the Macdonald platform games, and to be fair from that day up to now I have never ever jumped aboard a strong feel train as I have at the end of this game.

    This game is not for everyone, so if you are reading this hoping to learn more and i you should or not buy it I'll make it simple.

    Do you play games that are slow and where patience is key? Then this could very well be for you the universe is incredibly large, there is no dead space because your character interacts with all environments.

    Are you more of a fast paced gamer who would rather play CoD, Fortnite or GTA? Then do not get this game you will be disappointed, I enjoy both slow and fast paced and this was a complete blast of joy.

    The cast is mostly amazing, script is a bit rough at points but nothing too bad.

    It was just the best 50 hours I have ever spent on a first play through of a game.    … Expand

    Personally, I love how atmospheric Death Stranding is. The game really allows the player to breath, yet there are intense moments throughout the journey with unforeseeable challenges and obstacles to overcome.     Personally, I love how atmospheric Death Stranding is. The game really allows the player to breath, yet there are intense moments throughout the journey with unforeseeable challenges and obstacles to overcome. Anyone who has played Shadow of the Colossus should give Death Stranding a try. It's the closest I can compare, but at the same time Death Stranding has a really cool Metal Gear vibe to it.

    Outstanding game! Didn’t know what to expect and I had such a blast with it. The fact that I can play and enjoy this game at my own pace is amazing. For the cons the gameplay feels a bit clunky at times. But other than that It’s stellar. It’s good to see an AAA game trying to do something different and not stick to what other mainstream games do.

The gameplay just works! (Bethesda take note!) I’ve not come across a single glitch in over 60 hours of play. The sound track is amazing, the acting is spot on and the meaning behind the story is seriouslyThis game has to be the best of this generation! After 100+ hrs of playing I thoroughly enjoy the journey the game brings, appreciate the online interaction it offers, and even learned to embrace the corks of the gameplay mechanics. Definitely an unique game and ifNever thought making deliveries can be so addicting!     This game was the best experience i'd had in a long time. It's simply beautiful. Obviously it's not for everyone, but in my opinion the people who post negativity about it probably didn't give it a proper chance. Sure, the menus could have used some more work and the pace could have been a little smoother, but such things doesn't matter at all when looking at the big picture.

    The story is wonderful and the ending made me cry my eyes out, which is something that doesn't happen often for me with video games.

    - Physics (even your center of gravity matters, the terrain conditions, the slopes, everything affects your movements, your balance and the condition of your equipment and packages)
    - The story: If you just see the cinematics in youtube, the story is amazing. The world created for this game is outstanding. It's full of details and plot twists
    - Acting: the acting is great, I cried in many scenes
    - Online mode: The online gameplay goes inline with the idea of reconnecting people, of helping each other to save América and the world. You never compete against other players, but you can help them make their journeys easier.

    The bad:
    - Game is too long, in Episode 3 you spend like 20 hours connecting dots by making deliveries and the story doesn't progress at all.
    - Fast travel: you lose all your cargo when you fast travel (well, it's stored in a private locker but you each private locker in each location is independent, so you must go back to the initial location to access your old cargo)    … Expand

    Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. I can describe this game with just one word - beautiful. It's 47.hours long movie full of great ideas and mesmerising scenery. I was really scared to play it from start after so much hate, but it really get's me and ending ... it was first game that make my eyes a little wet ... just a little bit ;). Thanks Kojima, thanks SONY. It's amazing.

    These reviews make me shed a tear for the human race, because we cant even act like adults and rate it responsibly, and accordingly, even if it is not to our own liking. To give this game an absolute zero because you don't enjoy it, is childish.

    As for the game itself, I think everybody wants to be the king... rescue the princess, and blast their way through swarms of enemies, delivering a hail of shrapnel upon them, all whilst shruging off glancing bullets from them in return, and riding off into the sunset with the damsel in distress at their side. People want sensationalism, and an experience that caters towards their own bias. God forbid they should ever open their minds and experience something that isn't scripted to their own desires or shortcomings.    … Expand

    If you are more akin to instant gratification gameplay and no story then do not play this game.

You do indeed start off walking for the first few hours but as you unlock items and upgrades you soon have a massive inventory to manage with several methods of transportation at your disposal. There is much more to the game than simply "going from point A to point B". You walk, you climb, you rappel, you drive, you zip-line, you sneak, and you ultimately find the best route and method to traverse the massive environment. Of course, you're delivering packages the whole time, reconnecting society, and building your own unique game in many ways while either avoiding or engaging terrorists and ghosts. There are weapons to use for combat, ranging from the standard to the bizarre. There are boss fights which are spectacularly crafted. On top of everything you're engrossed with an incredibly strange and moving story that creates such an original setting you'll feel compelled to learn more about it. Death Stranding is a massive achievement in gaming and a truly original game that is hard to pinpoint to any particular genre.
    The graphics are astounding, some of the best ever created. The attention to detail in the environment and character models is insane to the point where you'll find yourself just soaking in its beauty. The voice-acting is excellent, and the story is sort of a cross between Mad Max and Poltergeist. You will walk away from this game feeling both confused and exhilarated if you take the time to actually explore everything it has to offer.
    The best aspect of the game is being able to build your own experience with the various tools and structures you'll need to complete every delivery. The environment is very harsh in this game and every part of it provides different obstacles to overcome. Inventory and item management is very in-depth just like it always was in Metal Gear Solid games. The difference with Death Stranding is that you can only carry what you're actually able to hold, and you can see every item on Sam in real-time. It's not like most other games where you have this unrealistic arsenal tucked away in your back pocket. Item management becomes an interesting mini-game in itself, along with balancing your character when you're carrying too much cargo.
    This game is everything I wanted it to be and more. It's a very different game from what is typically accepted by the mainstream which is definitely why it's being hated and misunderstood. Consider that in most games, even games like Grand Theft Auto, you're either killing a bunch of people or transporting objects from one location to another. This game simply puts the emphasis on transporting and embraces that aspect wholly. You will feel challenged to see how much you can transport, the best condition you can maintain for your cargo, the speed of your deliveries, etc. For all of these reasons I feel this game is a masterpiece and I hope this inspires a trend of new gameplay styles. Kojima has pushed the boundaries of gaming once again with Death Stranding.    … Expand

    Played all night on release, cleared my day friday and went on good stretchs all week to the early hours of the mornings, 60 hours in and it's absolutely incredible. I'm bleary eye and sore from sitting but it was worth every second and no regrets.

Hell, so many things are unique here. I ask myself at times "what the hell am I playing" and I don't know the answer at times but I am well and truly addicted to it.

    The production is perfect, the pacing is exceptional and while there is frustration to be had it is minor. I don't want to get into the "boring gameplay" argument cause that is subjective, camping in CoD is one mans idea of fun gameplay for example but the goals and objectives set out here are fun, extremely fun and unique in fact. I spent 4 hours helping build a road I probably will never use again for main missions.

    10 Kojimas out of 10 Kojimas. It's now in my top 10 games ever.    … Expand

    I really fall in love this game! I have finsihed it years before and this is the second time I start it over again!
    I have to tell you the truth. I am a super autistic man and really love to do the same things again and again. The more the repetitive something is, the more I love it.

    I really admire Kojima-san's work, like that after all these years he hasn't given up on his dream. He said he'll make a movie and I suppose this should be trivial for him after all these years, but I wouldn't be surprised if his interests shifted towards game making and this movie will be almost like a hobby for him, that's my impression as you likely guessed.     My initial thoughts were pretty much like you see in most negative reviews, it felt like a DHL delivery guy simulator. But    I have been a fan of MGS-series since 1998 and excitedly waited this for years when it was in the making. I didn’t buy this upon launch, after seeing some streams of gameplay I thought to wait for a sale, but gladly my friend got it for me as a birthday present.

    My initial thoughts were pretty much like you see in most negative reviews, it felt like a DHL delivery guy simulator. But once you get to the end of the first map, and onto the next, game really opens up.

    Only fault is, that there are no extra save slots, the story is so complicated that I wish to play it again, without having to overwrite my first play-through progression, but In my opinion easily deserved 10, such a unique game.    … Expand

    This game is very original in its design and gameplay. The graphics are amazing along with the story and the music too. It is very immersive right from the start however it is a bit overwhelming figuring it all out. Overall it's refreshing but don't expect to run through it.

    This is the best postman simulator to date

    I understand this cup of tea is not for everyone, but it was a long time since I played a game as immersive as Death Stranding.

    Music, casting, graphics are great. Story so far (about 30h slow gameplay) is... kojima, which is kind of why I bought this game.

    Jogo maravilho que merece nota máxima. Jogo já está na lista dos jogos com nota perfeita da Famitsu e isso já mostra a qualidade de um jogo conseguir chegar no nível de entrar para o seleto ranking dos jogos perfeitos. Tudo indica que temos o Goty 2019.

    O game é espetacular graficamente. Tem umas umas trilhas sonoras incríveis e uma gameplay simplesmente sensacional e diferente de tudo que já foi visto até hj. O seu modo online é fenomenal é viciante. Ajudar as pessoas num game nunca foi tão satisfatório. Os efeitos sonoro são um show a parte.... incrível!!!!

    O jogo tem um início arrastado, onde foca em contextualizar o jogador na história e na gameplay. Mas depois embala e se torna uma das maiores e mais surpreendentes experiências, em especial por conta da história. Os gráficos, trilha sonora e sonoplastia são impecáveis . Recomendo.

    I gotta say, I almost sold this game in the first two chapters. So slow and such a frustrating grind. However after reading that the game doesn't get good until 15 hours, I stuck it out and boy did it ever get good! I think alot of the combat and other mechanics should have been introduced earlier to make a more fun experience. But I really enjoyed my time with this game and it DOES NOTI gotta say, I almost sold this game in the first two chapters. So slow and such a frustrating grind.     I've put at least 10 hours in it and having a blast. Rule of thumb, don't listen to gaming journalist and just rate it yourself because I would have been missing out on this if I listened to the media.

    Amazing game. Don't listen to the people giving it bad scores, they have either only played a few hours of the game or haven't played it at all.

    My advice, give it roughly around 8 hours to 10 hours to see if you will like it as the game picks up dramatically around that point

    DEATH STRANDING is one of the best games i have ever played.You get the same rewarding experience that you get from playing games like Dark Souls and other kojima titles. Production values of this game are amazing. Best graphics, great story telling and a lot of Sci- FI. There's also a lot of combat in the game and stealth in a very kojima way. One of my favorite games ever!

    One of the best playstation game that I ever played. Beautiful graphics, complex mechanics and epic story. But that´s a catch. Buy this game ONLY if you want to run away from FPS likes, MOBA and etc. It´s a excellent survival kind of game.

El modo multijugador nos deja disfrutando bastante ya que podemos interactuar de manera indirecta con otros jugadores lo que lo hace realmente bonito, ver y encontrar una escalera para que atrevieses una zona más rápido, un mensaje de apoyo, una advertencia de lo que se aproxima, es muy bonito y una manera bastante entretenida de hacer un multijugador, gracias por este juego, que en sin más, una obra de arte.… Expand

    Llevo mas de 20 horas de juego y les puedo decir que hasta el momento es uno de los juegos mas interesantes que he tenido el agrado de jugar. No solo tiene una grafica impecable, si no que además cuenta con una historia atrapante. Muy al estilo de Kojima siempre haciendo énfasis en el argumento, muchos guiños a películas de culto como Odisea del Espacio y con un compilado exquisito de musica ambiental que generan una inmersión nunca antes vista

It's fun, relaxing and definitely different than your typical AAA game. I don't usually like games with long cut scenes, but I find the story really interesting and it compels me to keep playing the game and upgrading things.     It has a tremendous presentation enriched by great performances that convey all rays of emotions.
    This game was a work of passion and it shows. A unique feel that only those who finish the game can truly grasp.
    One of the best games ever made and an important one. It's something new and i'm very grateful for it.

    Just completed the game last night.( not many side quests I'll complete them next week) This game is excruciatingly frustrating, the graphics are surreal and the story, it just blew my mind. I'm really eager to see everything the story has to offer. I'm on Ch. 5 and it's starting to pick up. All these people saying it has no gameplay clearly haven't played or seen the game.     Iam 10 hours in and so far the game is great.....The grafichs with 4K checkerboard and HDR is very nice.

    I have played videogames hole my life and Iam an old man. I therefore apreciate a game that is top quality and that is different from other typical games. This is art....

    Unbelievable game!!! Little bit of a slow start but after a few hours it really opens up. Very unique , best graphics ever , killer story that all comes together in the end. Suprisingly addictive game play loop.

    Desde que empecé a jugar me tiene atrapado, todo tiene su porque y lo explican con una lógica increíble... realmente es un excelente juego y las mecánicas son increíbles.. caminar no es solo caminar y las cosas que puedes hacer son muy diversas.. no te aburre y saca un provecho a la grafica hasta el tope...

The walking-sim complaints strike me as disingenuous: this is a creepy, emotional, stealth-survival masterpiece, where every step and decision in a treacherous post-apocalyptic world has meaning and consequence. This is obviously not a guns-blazing beat 'em up. It's a carefully plotted strategy game with new systems and a much wider emotional palette than most games. You literally "brace yourself" when things get treacherous. You hold your breath when a powerful force tries to sniff you out. You run like hell when you spot an opening. That these expertly crafted moments seem to be flying under the review-bombers' radar baffles me. If you approach this game like it's a bold and audacious sci-fi epic, and if you read up on what to expect and tune yourself to that, I think you will be blown away by the graphics, sound, and intense suspense of surviving this world and understanding its evocative mystery. It's as rich narratively and visually as any truly great sci-fi movie or story, and it is absorbing intellectually, dramatically, and comically. The game is cinematic heavy and the gameplay requires careful attention managing your inventory and choosing how to navigate the world. I love taking my time inspecting the private rooms that serve as realistic and cinematic pre-mission hubs, and I love expending suspenseful energy and thought making sure that my loadout is suited for my missions. While I'm not a huge inventory freak in rpgs, the way that the systems fit with the narrative and world constantly reward me. Even when I'm at work i'm thinking about how best to prepare to survive and complete a mission. I find it constantly engrossing, and the world begs for me to understand its secrets. I couldn't be more pleased with this game. Finally, something different, beautiful, and awe-inspiring. I hope you give it the chance that it deserves, and approach it with patience and curiosity. You will not be disappointed if you adjust your expectations just the slightest bit to something different. Personally, I think it rivals BoTW with its originality and beautiful world, and it far surpasses it with its narrative. Very well may be my favorite game ever, but I'll let time and further reflection make that decision.… Expand

В общем,довольно скудно я все описал,но на это и 5к символов не хватит,игра не спешная,но с каждым часом она набирает обороты ,становиться динамичной и меняеться,я вообще не припомню подобных проектов,это что то уникальное и единственное в своём роде ,сейчас игроки недовольны,но я уверен,что как только они расскусят игру,они не смогут от неё оторваться,и вообще я думаю что со временем она станет игрой легендой ,и подобных игр мы не видим ещё много лет.Кодзима в этот раз пошёл против системы,и все привычные нам вещи сделал наоборот,где вы видели что бы персонаж в игре имел полную физику передвижения,которая зависит от разных факторов и обычная ходьба,даже на 100 метров приносит трудности?Где вы видели дождь который разрушает абсолютно все живое в Real-time и радугу наоборот?Где вы видели подобное социальное взаимодействие(которое кстати,настолько круто сделано,что возвращаясь в старые места ты их не узнаешь,там где ты 3 часа назад с трудом пробирался,можно проехать за 3 минуты)10000000 фишек,которые нужно прочувствовать самому.Кодзима гений.10/10.Игра легенда.    … Expand

    Mechanically rich kojima title with no **** concessions, I didn't love all of it and that's what I truly enjoyed about it, just a whole lot of resources devoted to a pure vision, some of this **** makes no sense, some of the emotional beats don't come off and some of the jokes don't land but they made it anyway and that has left me properly entertained

Phantom Pain... which was praised by everyone) If this game has a repetitive mission design, I blame the reviewers and users of Phantom Pain for not pointing it out back then.

    Lots of innovative ideas, along with a good social system to indirectly bring all the players together in a very positive way. Really good system/level design, where the world itself becomes an obstacle as you explore. The farther you go, the more challenges you face, the better rewards you get to overcome all the difficulties. The progression system is really good.

    The story is decent as well. I am not a big fan of Kojima story-telling tbh, but he nailed it in death stranding. The suspense is there, and is a good one.

    Death Stranding should not be considered a videogame and more so as a movie. The gameplay is in the weaker side, however it doesn't take away from the fact that the game features amazing graphics, mysterious story, and great soundtrack only someone like Hideo Kojima could do. As of now, no other game captures the atmosphere Death Stranding provides.

    The of the best games this generation! Such a unique and beautiful game and the best graphics this generation by far. People saying it's a walking simulator either haven't played it or don't have a high enough IQ to understand it.

    Just as promised, this is a different kind of game. This is indeed a walking simulator and an interesting one if you actually play it yourself. You just can’t experience all the fun stuff by watching videos. Yes I think this game starts off boring with limited tools and confusing plot. But once you’re getting into it, you can’t stop. It’s so beautiful and Kojima-crafted. Different kind ofJust as promised, this is a different kind of game. This is indeed a walking simulator and an interesting one if you actually play it yourself. Finished the game after 61 hours, and still playing it with 89 hours, making deliveries in pursue of the platinum trophy. Understand some critics as the learning curve is slow. You are alone the landscape is big and the story seems twisted but I didn't see anything right now for real. What I saw was very good so far. BTT the engine annoys me since I play still MGSV Online. 60fps would be.perfect, but hey you know what I don't care. This connecting thing does really work. Remember how parents told us to be nice and care for each other ? I completed story mission 2 but I ran back for the new players. To leave a message, to leave a ladder for the others. To leave a sign I have been here. It makes you do that without hesitation. The Story is important but the game gives you the feeling of being alone, that's why you turn back instead of going on. You want to help others. Kojima calls back out to humanity. Care for each other. Help each other. I never felt something like that, in Nier Automata but who really played the Original Nier? Nier Automata was a blast afterwards, it made its impact afterwards. It's like Shenmue, Nier, Shenmue, the Game shows you you are alone and you do everything to help each other.     Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
