    Masterpiece!! A lot of people call it "Slow" and boring but for me it is being an incredible history with an amazing environment. Surely it's not for everyone

    + Story: Complex, mysterious, original, captivating. + Controls: Responsive & intuitive, no issues. + Gameplay: Kojima has gamified terrain traversal & I love it. There are cut    + Visuals: gorgeous landscapes, beautiful sci-fi elements, impressive character models.
    + Sound: excellent soundtrack, immersive environmental noises, strong voice acting, suitably unnerving horror elements.
    + Story: Complex, mysterious, original, captivating.
    + Controls: Responsive & intuitive, no issues.
    + Gameplay: Kojima has gamified terrain traversal & I love it. There are cut scenes, (as should be expected) but IMO not too many, & not too long--they're a pleasure to watch anyway.
    +Innovation: interesting new systems, cool online/social implementation, unlike anything else.

    - Some lines of dialogue/messages/themes/names are quite heavy handed, & will no doubt turn some people off, but I'm willing to forgive these since everything else about the game is outstanding
    - It would be nice if there were more graphical & sound options in the menu.
    - The game should not be set in the USA 'from sea to shining sea' --it should be Iceland, Greenland, or Alaska.    … Expand

    An amazing masterpiece in its entirety. Nowadays games fall into some sort of a category. Very rarely do You get something new. Even benchmark games like Zelda: BOTW build on existing formulas. Not so with Death Stranding. It has a very unique gameplay, a mind boggling storyline reminiscent of Stranger Things which kept me going into the late night and a fantastic atmosphere with theAn amazing masterpiece in its entirety. Nowadays games fall into some sort of a category. Very rarely do You get something new. Even benchmark games like Zelda: BOTW build on existing formulas. Not so with Death Stranding. It has a very unique gameplay, a mind boggling storyline reminiscent of Stranger Things which kept me going into the late night and a fantastic atmosphere with the superb music score it has. I loved the serenity of the mountains, climbing, walking over the peaks, looking far into the horizon for signs of infrastructures. I am just amazed how well the game mechanics are pieced together and how innovative many of them are. Even the acting is excellent, consistent and coherent. This is not just a game, it's like a long interactive movie. This game sucked me in like not other has done for the last 30-40 years, when I played Elite on a Commodore 64.     I was quite fed up with having to kill everything. What refreshing and contemplative gameplay, mature and intelligent. Clearly it would be divisive, which is strangely loopy, alas. Humanity is in general not ready for Bridges.

    This game is very specific and not for anyone. I'm not a fan of these slower games myself. But Death Strading surprised me ... a unique game, a unique style in which the player really understands their purpose in the game and what they have to overcome in the game. The game has its flaws but for its grandeur deserves a note 10. Kojima is to be congratulated.

At first you maybe think it's gonna take forever to get the "deliverys " and "strands" ... But when you enable online play and take a few missions...the games change.... You be able to use the community items and construction... like roads . Bridges, towers of energy, shelters for the rain, advanced Outpost, bikes,, and more and more... after chapter 3 ...a little boost by Fragile ...you be able to " jump " immediately to the bases you already got connect to the quiral network.. chapter 4 its insane action....and then things in history start to bom in chapter after champ......I have more few hours to finish the game... but I want this adventure never finish....such a polish game with awesome features and a blasting history...A top 3 contender for the game year for me.… Expand

    Não zerei nem nada, mas to dando 10 para combater essa doença de acéfalos que dão nota baixa so pelo fato de venerar uma outra marca patética (Microsoft) que nem sabe que esses insetos existem. Temos espaço para TODOS, não precisamos de politica até no mundo dos games. Aceitem o PS4 como melhor e pronto.

    The game is fantastic , we all knew what to expect, and yes , is what we expected, a great game , different , that makes you feel satisfied doing stuff for other players, the message is clear , help each other out. Avoid if u want play the usual story mode and that's it. There is so much going on here, u gotta have the right mentality to play.

    This game is next level. It engrossed me so much that at times I forgot I was playing a videogame. If you're a fan of cinema and videogames, I think Death Stranding is a must play. Never have I experienced a piece of media like this.

    Freakin Amazing!!! This is a masterpiece of a game, went in very negative and skeptical of DS, BUT a BIG...BUT, this is truly a game to behold. It won me over. Haven't been this emerged in a game since Dark souls 3 and Sekiro.

    I think it's a great game that is certainly worth the time. Sure it's a bit slow to start, but it offers many things that typical games do not now a=days. Most people reviewing it seems like they haven't gotten to Chapter 3 when it opens up. This is much more of a slow burn game and you can't just wildly rush things like many of today's gamers do.

    Kojima has done it again. This game is fantastic is has my vote for game of the year. The story came out really well, not a surprise since it's from Kojima. Very beautiful to look at. And once the game starts giving you all the crazy features to explore the world, I was hooked.     Finally, an original AAA game. If you like slower paced game and a new genre, you should really love this game. Felt a bit like Breath of the Wild. The acting is amazing and the gameplay foundation is solid.
    It's not complex at all, you don't have to manage your inventory as stated somewhere else, there is an automatic triage option.

    Game play: The main point is as everyone have already saw, the deliver of different types of cargo from point A to point B. This however is mixed with: environmental hazard, physical and realistic reactions to the terrain that no other AAA has and that apply to both Sam and his enemies. Stealth, gun play and a whole weaponry that goes from boleadora pistol, assault rifles, grenades until missile launchers. All of this you can use or build, together with all this you can use or build, along with shelters of different types, bridges, stairs, climbing anchors, different types of exoskeletons that help improve your performance when moving in different kinds of terrain, thermal patches, gas masks, cars, motorcycles, in short; that the game is giving you new options to overcome the new challenges that it proposes every hour or hour and a half. So to everyone out there saying that the game is all cinematic and no game play well, go and play it (also this is one of Kojima's game with less cinematics that, at least, I remember).

    Finally, the game has multiple bosses (those that seemed too easy, I think a weak point in the game is the absence of a real challenge regarding the fights, at least in the normal difficulty).
    All of the above is presented with a really compelling and original story, marvelous graphics and NO DLC. For all of this reasons I think Death Stranding is one of the best games of the year and one of the best I've played (and I played a lot). Few to no one creator try to sell such a risky proposal and that is something that all gamers should value.

    This is a game for people who has a soul, for people able to go beyond the ordinary game experience and who like to dive into something new.
    To the rest of the people, the brainless who give 0 to a game, the PES/Fifa players, the people who doesn't have the smallest depth and empathy I strongly NOT recommend this game.

    Death stranding is my first Kojima game and I must say it is a terrific game that everyone should experience. The story is emotional and relevant to discussion, the gameplay is revolutionary and brave. both create, with synergy, a greater holle that is video game art at its finest.

    Death Stranding is absolute 100% Game of The Year, the game feel slow but steady, difficult to understand but intelligent, this game is open-world game I looking for years, the gameplay is very very satisfied, the graphics is outstanding, the story is smart. DS will keep you stick with the controller for hours, days, months, years.

    DEATH STRANDING is absolutely wonderful, a harrowing, riveting, breath of fresh air. Fans of games like Ico or Shadow of the Colossus or Hideo Kojima games should not miss this unique experience. It will grab a hold of you (if you let it) and pull you to the other side. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.

    Más que un juego es una experiencia, y más si lo juegas con altavoces 5.1 que te mete mucho más al oír las pisadas, el viento, la lluvia, voces de otros jugadores,los Ev... Al principio parece absurdo el hecho de ir andando por ahí repartiendo paquetes pero cuando empiezas a hacerlo y ves las dificultades que supone llevar la carga el esfuerzo parece real, todo está hecho al milímetro yMás que un juego es una experiencia, y más si lo juegas con altavoces 5.1 que te mete mucho más al oír las pisadas, el viento, la lluvia, voces de otros jugadores,los Ev... I will say no more other than the fact that this game has so many bad reviews is purely (I am convinced) because the people hating on it either did not play it at all and jumped on the hate bandwagon because they have nothing better to do than judge things they know nothing about or because they did not get to chapter three.     Then we come to gameplay where some people may not enjoy it. However, for me the gameplay is so enjoyable.
    You deliver stuff while soaking the gorgeous environment and some relaxing music kicks in, it was therapeutic! If you focus on main missions you will rarely backtrack and the environment keeps changing so you will never get bored.
    As for side quests, the game is grindy cause it expects you to work with other players to build the server and make deliveries easier. Since in this game structures you build show up for other players and vice versa.    … Expand

I took my time finishing the game, starting it in November 2019 and wrapped it up in August 2020. In a way, I went & played when I needed to feel better about our broken world.

    First 30 mins of this game and I am already so confused how anyone can give this game a score lower than 9. Thats all Im going to say. If you are a cod fps shooting fanatic then i think you may not like it but you should still give it a try. It is a one of a kind experience in gaming, like alot of sony games.

    3) pissed off ppl on PC that are getting the game at least 7 months late but really shouldn't complain cause they're actually getting the game anyways

    4) pissed off Xbox and Switch players because Hideo "abandoned" them on Xbox and hasn't given a crap about Nintendo's consoles since the GC (also pushing their "console war" b.s)

    5) Understandably upset Metal Gear fans that not only wanted but EXPECTED a spiritual successor to MGS that not only Konami doesn't want him working on but Hideo himself hasn't wanted to touch since the early 2000's

    6) Silent Hill fans that assumed Hideo Kojima + Guillermo Del Toro + Norman Reedus = spiritual successor to the Silent Hills game that never existed

    7) The casual idiots that are too lazy to do research in any way, shape or form like the internet doesn't exist and the only way to know of a game's release is through a flyer, a cable tv commercial or just walking into the store and staring at video game covers until you see something that peaks their interest. Conveniently enough, the internet existed for them to write a bad review.

    8) The people that hate Hideo Kojima because he's one of the most celebrated video game directors with a solid reputation. They hate him as a person and mistake "confidence" with "overly inflated ego" and I don't blame em. When there's barely any1 else to celebrate about and the state that gaming has been this gen, it makes sense to hate on the few crowds that are still happy. It's also very popular and memeworthy to hate things as a collective. Look what happened on this site with Astral Chain. Incredible game but MetaCritic had to fix the review bombing because it got so bad for some of the same reasons I listed above. I expect it to happen here as well. It also shows why reviews on both sides of the spectrum (the critic and the consumer) is a flawed system. People are tarnishing (and boosting) this (and other) game's reputation without even having any proof of buying or playing it. Not a good look for what's supposed to be the "end all, be all" for judging a game, especially this kind of game.

    9) People that played the game for under 10 hours and gave up because they don't have patience and don't know that every Hideo Kojima game comes with build-up and a progression system integrated in the best way possible. Chapter 1 and 2 were basically glorified tutorials with lots of cinematics. If you don't even have the patience to get past that, I don't see why you bought this game in the first place.

    10) The few of the already small bunch: People who played the game, gave it the shot it deserved, completed it and genuinely did not like it whether it be for the reasons listed above, because it's not what they wanted or it was exactly what they expected and they just felt that it was executed poorly.

    Now you have people on the positive review side not only rating the game perfectly because they enjoyed it but also because they're fanboys of Kojima and/or they feel the need to defend against this large wave of negative review bombings. Or both.

    Technically, you're both wrong. All you're doing is showing why a site and system like Metacritic isn't credible. This stupid score means nothing in the long run when the credentials needed to affect it is as little as "you need an email address". You people are toxic.

    Let's talk about the game.

    I loved it and while I don't think it's perfect, it's still a masterpiece in it's own right. This game was never gonna be for everybody. I didn't come here to kill everyone nor did I come here to deliver packages (although I can do both). I came here knowing that this was a Hideo Kojima game ready to do whatever task he has me doing this year. The music, cinematography, graphics and all that speak for itself. Incredible. Let's talk about the gameplay.

    If this game's a wAlKiNg SiMuLaToR, GTA V is a sports game and Final Fantasy VII is a VR adventure. It makes no sense. Checked my stats and I've done more driving than walking. Yes, traversal and inventory management is one of the main focuses of this game but once you progress enough, it basically turns into MGS-lite with a heavy focus on weight + balance. With enough practice & progressing, you can become a damn super soldier.

    This game is my favourite it in years. It's not your typical game. This is something else. If you take your time and immerse yourself in it, I guess. Hit or miss for some, just like some people just don't like racing games or similar.

    The game is just incredible. Gorgeous environments and great gameplay mechanics. It has a lot of different ways to deliver packages, Kojima did it again. He achieved the miracle of making deliveries fun.

    Wonderful game. The mechanics are clean and crisp. You almost forget that you have a controller in your hand as you become Sam. The moment to moment travel and exploration is amazing. It is true that this game is not a race, 15 minute FPS, or loot grind game. Many other popular games are instant gratification, low effort games. This is not one of those! But that doesn't mean thatWonderful game. The mechanics are clean and crisp. You almost forget that you have a controller in your hand as you become Sam. Many other popular games are instant gratification, low effort games. This is not one of those! But that doesn't mean that that player base can't absorb and immerse themselves into a game that is much more deeply fulfilling. There are so many nice travel details that I won't spoil but should be recognized and it is awesome to see the effects of all of the other players in your world. Very Cool.

    Some people throw around the words like boring walking simulator. It could not be further from the truth. Never has a game made traversal so engaging. The interesting thing is that compared to most open world game there is a lot less back tracking in Death Stranding and even that travel is meaningful. As the game progresses you can definitely bounce back and forth from spot to spot, doing side missions, and building up resources but that that is completely optional. I was 25 hours in before i thought to myself "now for a couple of back and forth side missions to see how a relationship would progress." Other than that I was just rolling along wholeheartedly doing what Sam does best.

    Death Stranding breaks the Point A activity.....boring travel, travel, travel (or fast travel loading screens over and over)......Point B activity. Completely turns that on it's head. The entire game has meaning and game play attached. Not just the ends of the line.

    Death Stranding is definitely a game built with love and care. You can tell with every detail and every word how much care went into making this game. There is plenty of that MGS quirkiness and charm that we all love. It just brings out the personality of this game that much more.

    This is one of those games that will be talked about fondly in 10-20 years. The value of this game will shine progressively brighter once the haters stop pounding the keyboards for Likes and as time passes and more people absorb the brilliance that is Death Stranding.    … Expand

    This game is a masterpiece, IMO. There's nothing else like it. It takes patience and, like me, you might step away for a bit and play something else... Then, come back fresh. It's truly one of a kind. Maybe not for everyone, but I love it.

    An incredible experience. A pondersome journey that is masterfully crafted to evoke emotions and meditation. Certainly not an experience that many people will like. If you're the type that has patience and an appreciation for the kind of deep weirdness that is Hideo's calling card then you may just fall in love with this bizzare experience... as I have.

Anyone who hyped the game knowing what it is surely will be completely satisfied, but who hyped thinking it was an action game is just a low QI

    Death Stranding puts a new paradigm in games, it goes on a list where are Zelda Breath and Mario Odyssey and shows that the game industry still needs to review their concepts, games like these are necessary even if not pleasing everyone.

    Don't believe the negative reviews. This game is a masterpiece. It's kinda slow burner, but it's eventually very rewarding. Easily one of the best games ever created. I've been playing it for a day now, and I'll sure go for platinum. I don't know why some people complain about it being boring, it's merely trying to be different and bring something new to the industry.

    As of 2019, this is the greatest game I have ever played. The polished decima engine, the nuanced mechanics, the expert-level cinematography, the phenomenal acting, the breathtaking soundtrack, Hideo's iconic directing style... Death stranding is a true masterpiece in every sense of the word.

    Definitely going against the "establishment" of shoot stuff all day. I'm definitely enjoying it. The game is extremely well designed and is immersive. Immersion rarely happens these days but this game... it's something else. Future cult hit, calling it.

    This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
