    Death stranding is the most forward thinking game I have played in years. While it disguises itself as a open world sandbox it is very much a new genre all of itself. If your looking for mgs you will be disapointied. This is a game that centers itself around delivering packages from point a to point b this might sound boring but if you are open minded you will find the gameplay is unlikeDeath stranding is the most forward thinking game I have played in years. It's not going to be for everyone but those of us who have a deeper understanding of kojima outside mgs this might be his best work.… Expand

    Addictive and all encompasing, Death Stranding is a whole different level of addictive and innovative. It's atmosphere grabs you and never lets go. Some may day it's just delivery sim but it is beyond that in every single way. It's deeper and more emersive than any of us realized and I cant wait to finish it.

    I play the game 20h+, a good game, it does not deserve to be bombarded with so much hate, how in the world a gamer can give this game a 0 rating? Congratulations to the team that worked on this game, thank you for this original idea, the suspense, the creativity, the fun, the adventure, and the vision that is Death Stranding.

    Death Stranding is a unique game. It's literally like an entire environmental puzzle. It's had me hooked for the 5 hours I've played so far.

    It's a complete "walking simulator" in what the internet has called it. But it's fun, dazzling and most importantly has a lot of great design. Don't let people who get bored when asked to do something different for once. Watch some gameplay and you    Death Stranding is a unique game. It's literally like an entire environmental puzzle.     Just as many games do not need a complex plot, DS does not need much action to be a special game .... I love the world created by Hideo and I think it is already a memorable work.

    This game is meant to be a life lesson experience. Hideo Kojima has always tried to convey that the lust for power and wealth is humanity's undoing. This game is an attempt to show you the value in taking pleasure in building rather than smashing. I find this game to be breathtaking and fun so far. You can't compare this to other games.     This game will not be for everyone, I think the negative feedback is from people not looking to try something new but the same cookie cutter type game as every other developer. I'm 12 hours in and love it. If you're after an experience then it's the right game for you.

    The best part of these game was the development. It was a mystery. And now, we have all lies on a surrface. Every feature that we were promised, works only in cut scenes. Every MGS had a lot of problems< but they had a gameplay. and now we only have a problems. #KonamiGenius ****

Kojima and his team, tried something new, AND IT WORKS, so you'll either hate the game or love it. But even if you hate it, don't base your review on what you think it should have been, because no. This game wouldn't have worked as a movie, (as some have stated) No, they shouldn't have added fast travel etc. It would have ruin the whole experience of the game. This game is really enjoyable because it's hard. This game works BECAUSE its so frustrating sometimes. I've seen some people call this game "The Dark Souls of world traversal" And it truly is that.

    Now lets ignore these children and focus on the game. It's big, gorgeous and hard to traverse. For me, it's never boring, its hard. And that's really everything I'm gonna say. I really believe this game is something YOU need to experience for yourself without spoilers. If you need instant gratification to have fun, don't buy this. Play something else :,)
    But if you want to experience something truly new, uniqe and wonderful. Try it out. Compared to everything that has been released in a very long time, this truly is goldglimp of hope for this industry. We dont need the same thing over and over again, we need new and innovative ideas that work with the concept of gameplay. And Death Stranding does that really really good!

    Only reason that I'm not giving this a 10/10 is beacuse I havent finished it. But It probably is a 10/10. Cheers    … Expand

    I spent an hour playing the game an I really enjoy it. Its very engaging as of right now I wish i was at home still playing it. But i had to go to work. Just try the game first for yourself before saying its terrible which it is not 9/10 is my rating of Death Stranding.

    I’ve played this all day and I can officially say I am addicted and it has lived up to MY expectations. This is not a game for everyone. It is extremely hard to describe what is fun about it, but I enjoy the fact I have to be alert 100% of the time otherwise the main character will fall over and your mission has failed. I’ve already enjoyed the asynchronous multiplayer aspect of the gameI’ve played this all day and I can officially say I am addicted and it has lived up to MY expectations.     One of the few games in modern days which actually takes risks with it's story and game-play. Not everything is a complete success, but the atmosphere and the original story is nothing like current games has to offer. Kojima keeps redefining gaming experience, blurring the line between gaming and movie experience.

    Плюсы:
    -интригующий сюжет
    -классный визуал
    -музыкальное сопровождение
    -действительно новый геймплей
    Минусы(вернее один но очень ВАЖНЫЙ):
    -игра может оттолкнуть своей медитативностью. Она слишком медлительна и монотонна. ВЫХОД СМЕРТИ(боже) отнимет у вас кучу времени и сил, если вы не любите подобные проекты. Но если вам нравится куча мелких геймплейных механик, вы любите досконально изучать миры и вы наслаждаетесь от вдумчивого сюжета, то это ваша игра    … Expand

    It’s a amazing game, breathtaking visuals and the story got me on the first minutes in the game! It’s my first game from Kojima and I’m blown away for the originality the game got!
    The landscape evolution is so great during the game! I was not sure the game was for me because it’s not for everyone but I’m glad I play it.

    This game is beautiful, I thought that it would be boring because some of the reviews implied so. But I couldn't put controller down once I started the game. Maybe this game is not for everybody, but for me it's exactly what I want to play at this time.

    Brilliant game. Anyone with a bit of patience will see the the quality gameplay and the long term rewards. The multiplayer/shared universe element is an added bonus. Beautiful and complex, Death Stranding is a Kojima game through and through with his trademark storytelling and humour. Loving it so far

    yes it is a game in which you go from point a to point b but with interesting mechanics and a story worth listening to, I understand that many people found it very boring but I would say that it is relaxing, it is not a game with action around every corner. in short it is a good game worth playing

While lacking in some departments for the "modern gamer", for me personally, Death Stranding hits the spot perfectly. Up to this day i never really liked traversing enviroments in games, because all it was just holding "forward" and not really doing anything else. What Death Stranding does, is give you a handful of enjoyable minigames to play while looking at the beautiful enviroments and listening to the ambience of it all. That's what works for me, I think in the coming years, games will start adding these minigames to traversal, instead of opting for 100% fast-travel. Fast-travel has it's merits, but sometimes it's good to let the player enjoy the scenery, even if it seems lengthy.
    i have not finished the game yet and i feel there is a lot more to discover in the upcoming hours, that i will play. I feel that the majority of people here giving 0's didn't even touch the game based on their reviews and seeing as some of their "claims" were proven wrong when i actually got to a certain part of the game, which showed that they didn't know what they were talking about.
    All in all, if you cannot spare 60 dollars for a game of this scale, wait for a sale, give it an honest try, ignoring all other opinions and for once, try to form your own. It is what i did and i have to say i'm not missing a single cent that i spent.
    Music is gorgeous, Graphics aswell, albeit i was hoping for 60 fps, the game being locked to 30 being a minus for me. The story, seemingly complicated to some, is told in chunks, not too complicated, easily to digest considering how long the game is.
    While some people maybe expected a military shooter ala Metal Gear Solid and what we're seeing is the dissapointment of not getting something you're expecting. For me the gameplay is above all else, "glorified fetch quest", "boring, repetitive" some may call it, don't listen to those people and try it for yourself, at the end of the day you might end up as me and find a new game to add to your favourites. Our society has become so enthralled by war games and those who create them when something new and hoenstly innovative like DS comes out it often leaves the player feeling underwhelmed or unimpressed at a first glance. Yes, the game is very long and somewhat all over the place. However, it takes what many games tend to not do and place the players in a sort of space where they are truly on their own. Kojima stated himself he wanted the player to feel a type of aloneness while playing and climbing rocks and mountains all by your lonesome I say capture that type of affinity. He got what he was going for. The game is not bad, it is something that's new and that I say people aren't used to yet. "walking simulator" isn't exactly what I'd call it, but rather a game that gives the player a chance to instead of run and gun and have to attack everything or be some sort of super soldier, instead you're a simple carrier on a mission to connect the remaining strands of a post apocalyptic America. It's different, but most games that tend to go this route are and will literally either hit or miss with a target audience. If you went in expecting Metal Gear 2.0 then of course you'd feel cheated and kicked to the curb. It's not Metal Gear. This is something that with the combined efforts of a masterful team and a man using his own dream journal as inspiration, and created something both unique and somewhat a topic changer for how people play most games nowadays. It's a good game, and I think it deserves some credit for being able to bring new ideas like a carrier system and exploration of field versus simply only and always finding an enemy to attack. If people would focus that instead of the former, maybe they'd see it in the light Kojima meant for it to be presented. Again, it's not a war game. It is it's own genre all together. Love it, or hate it, it brought something new to the table and I appreciate what work they have done.… Expand

    It's definitely different but I love this game, the mechanics are great the story is kojima as usual but I wouldn't want it no other way at all can't wait to see what he does next.

    The game -although definitely divisive- is fun in it's own unique ways. It's a fascinating slow-burn masterpiece that's keeping me hooked. After 12 straight hours of playing I took the liberty of writing a review. The only thing that bugs me is the clunky menus. I was pleasantly surprised after reading many of the horrid things others had to say about it.

    Technological marvel. By far the most amazing game graphically when it comes to realism. Compelling story so far with a message of hope.
    Death Stranding seems to have a focus on the journey and having time to think.     I like my games with a good unique story, some eye candy, emotional engagement , something thought provoking and a good challenge. Death Stranding is a win in my opinion.

    A well crafted game that managed to make traversal enjoyable and engaging. Intense gameplay, and a thought prevoking story. Nothing like anything else I've played. Im totally memorized and see myself sinking dozens upon dozens of hours into this beautiful world.

    This game is very good at telling a story that’s fresh and it’s gameplay can be bland at some points but the game is still fun to me. Another note I want to touch on is the graphics, they are amazing and the add a lot to the experience to the game and it makes the game real immersive. I believe this game is gonna be remembered for a long time and know for its innovation to gaming.

    A lonely, incredible, desolate game that you’ll either love or hate. Personally I absolutely love it, the lonely walks to the terrifying BT encounters. Even sneaking into a MULE camp and silently picking them off to collect packages to deliver! The fact the world is connected between all players is incredible too!

    Just because the game isn't for you...doesn't mean it isn't for others! Slating a game you have never played to try and influence others it beyond sad and pathetic. I am thoroughly enjoying playing through Death Stranding. It definitely isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy a intriguing story, fantastic graphics and a eerily dark atmosphere...its a must!

    This game has So much realism put in it that it could be a simulator. There Are also So many features that only add to the realism. And for me the game is fun. The game is evolving the more you continue through the game and Its not always the same...

Don't go in expecting anything like MGS, and prepare to have game mechanics unlike most other games you've played. If you like the Matrix Reloaded for its exposition and ideas, if you like science fiction literature, if you like meta-narratives and playing with conventions, if you want to play a game that makes you do things differently to other games, not more of the same,then you may just love this. And yes before people try to call me out, I’ve played around the first 12 hours or so. Just enough to be able to make a decent review.     Nunca he evaluado un juego sin pasármelo primero, por eso antes de escribir esto no solo me he pasado el juego (54 horas) sino que también he conseguido el platino (79 horas). Para mí es un juego excelente, una historia y narrativa muy buena, personajes muy carismáticos, especialmente Mads Mikkelsen, un gameplay que, a pesar de que a priori no me llamara, engancha como pocos juegos (79Nunca he evaluado un juego sin pasármelo primero, por eso antes de escribir esto no solo me he pasado el juego (54 horas) sino que también he conseguido el platino (79 horas). Para mí es un juego excelente, una historia y narrativa muy buena, personajes muy carismáticos, especialmente Mads Mikkelsen, un gameplay que, a pesar de que a priori no me llamara, engancha como pocos juegos (79 horas en 11 días de los cuales 25 horas son después de ver el final de la historia lo dicen todo), la banda sonora y el apartado gráfico y artístico son de otro mundo. Tiene sus fallos, uno de ellos son los jefes EV, que a pesar de que son visualmente espectaculares, las mecánicas que tienen y tu poca velocidad de movimiento en combate los hace poco memorables, no es así en los jefes humanos que sí me han parecido muy buenos, también debo mencionar que los capítulos 3 y 6 pueden llegar a hacerse algo largos, pero a parte de eso el juego no me ha aburrido en ningún momento. Los campamentos de mulas y terroristas en "difícil" (que es como yo he jugado) me han parecido un reto y debes usar muy bien la estrategia y ser preciso, si vas a lo loco vas a morir, no eres Rambo ni Solid Snake, lo que muchos tachan de mal shooter a mí me parece algo realista, no me parecería normal que un hombre que se dedica a repartir paquetes empiece a repartir tiros y cargarse una base de terroristas él solo. En resumen, un gran juego me ha parecido uno de los mejores de esta generación y un soplo de aire fresco, espero que Kojima vuelva a hacer otros juegos diferentes, la industria está saturada de siempre lo mismo. Recomiendo a todo el mundo que haya jugado juegos más calmados que le de una oportunidad, no creo que decepcione a muchos (obviamente si sois jugadores que buscáis acción a raudales no lo compréis).… Expand

    From my very brief encounter, this game is truly like nothing I’ve ever played, (I used to own a brand new C64) and for that I am eternally grateful. If you’re running on pro at 4K the visuals are indeed spellbinding, we’ll worth the wait since PT, GO HK!

    This game is amazing! The low scores are from people who want to bring the hype down. I think this is a solid 9 and with great actors. Kojima choice to bring Lindsay Wagner is really smart and brings back that nostalgia from the 70s. Try it for your self. This is not just a game, it’s an experience.

The gameplay I don't personally feel is lacking per say, yet the game core loop is about climbing mountains and reconnecting a fractured society. Which is something Kojima has stated since the early days of MGS2, and all through his career. It is ironic how fractured the user reviews are for this game when the purpose or intent is getting over your own shortcomings as a player, if it be not accepting a new type of game, or it be the patience that is required for a game of this nature. There is no instant gratification with climbing. It is the process of the individual that matters most and the experience throughout. The game is tough, but once you get past a steeper than most learning curve, the game opens up into varying possibilities for the player. Cooperating online, lots of information, mail, interviews to dive into to get more history and lore of the universe. Everything is connected and feels meticulously crafted and very well driven. Despite any shortcomings from user reviews, I would suggest taking it with a grain of salt. The player has to be ready to try something new, and it was always stated that this game will be different. I would say different in a good way and the player must accept that to really appreciate the beauty in Death Stranding.    … Expand

    Majority of gamers (not all), who are spoon fed with games that are essentially about killing and competition at it's core will dislike it. Planning, overcoming difficult situations without the use of weapons and helping others is not something they are accustomed to in games or in other mainstream media. They will write it off as a boring and simple delivery simulator, no, it's not boring and simple. Yes, you do deliveries in the game, but that's far from describing the full gameplay loop. It has a little bit of everything, switching it's priorities from action and killing, to planning, hiding and helping.

    In a world when the average gamer has an attention span of a goldfish, where battleroyale is the most popular genre, this game will stay a polarizing art piece.    … Expand

    É um novo conceito de gameplay , e tem muita relação com o modo aventura sim . É um jogo sóbrio muito imersivo. Não e para uma jogatina rápida ou fácil. Tem uma ótima narrativa mas a história ainda não acabou para mim , estou no começo ainda e não posso avaliar esse ponto , por isso 9. Mas sim vale cada centavo para quem gosta do gênero Aventura , RPG e ficção.

    I LOVE this game, but it’s not a game I would recommend to everyone. I love the lore, the cut scenes, the music, the world, the graphic, and the game play. To be honest, as a wilderness/hiking guy, it almost feels like I’m outside traversing the environment when playing, yes, sometimes it sucks to backtrack when you **** up, but I’ve done that irl too. But yeah, you need to enjoyI LOVE this game, but it’s not a game I would recommend to everyone. I love the lore, the cut scenes, the music, the world, the graphic, and the game play. To be honest, as a wilderness/hiking guy, it almost feels like I’m outside traversing the environment when playing, yes, sometimes it sucks to backtrack when you **** up, but I’ve done that irl too. But yeah, you need to enjoy traversing and exploring without being bombarded with instant rewards, exploring and taking in the view is it’s own reward.     After playing about 14 hours, I now have a good feel of the game. And I must say this is a unique, unshakable experience. The story is like non-other, the free exploration with some of the best graphics you’ll ever see in a video game is unforgettable, it is truly creative. But...it has got it’s flaws with slow paced segments, it gets repetitive going back and forth and there is little toAfter playing about 14 hours, I now have a good feel of the game. And I must say this is a unique, unshakable experience. The story is like non-other, the free exploration with some of the best graphics you’ll ever see in a video game is unforgettable, it is truly creative. But...it has got it’s flaws with slow paced segments, it gets repetitive going back and forth and there is little to no action besides little mule camps which can just get overrun with mules and get repetitive. There is also these BT segments, which are the shadow figures which you’ll encounter early in the game, the goal is to sneak past them, I like this a lot, it gives you that scary feeling not knowing where they are. As you progress you’ll unlock better gear which can kill the BTs. The boss fights are a little to easy it doesn’t give that challenge the player will be expecting. There is also this online system in the game, this is probably the best aspect in the entire game. So after you connect a region to the network you’ll be able to see other players stuff,signs,bridges ect. But you’ll never see the other players, you can build bridges or place down ladders which can be used by other players, it is a really cool aspect and I hope to see it in future games and it ties into the games story about connections. So if death stranding worth buying? I’ll say yes it is definitely a must buy if you just want a game to play or just to have a good time,. If you’re into shooter games like “Call of duty” this is probably not the game for you.… Expand

    Играю третьи сутки, поставил 9 баллов. Да, во многих местах игра просто предлагает ходить туда - сюда и носить по чемодану туда - обратно по одному и тому же маршруту. Я играл и с включенным интернетом и без него. Но мне нравится это - во первых можно и не делать лишних движений если не хочется - просто идти по сюжету. Во вторых походы очень преображаются со строительством дорог,Играю третьи сутки, поставил 9 баллов. Да, во многих местах игра просто предлагает ходить туда - сюда и носить по чемодану туда - обратно по одному и тому же маршруту. Я играл и с включенным интернетом и без него. Но мне нравится это - во первых можно и не делать лишних движений если не хочется - просто идти по сюжету. Во вторых походы очень преображаются со строительством дорог, получением экзоскелета и транспорта. В третьих лично мне нравится там ходить!!! За это я убрал полбалла. И еще полбалла я убрал за то, что зоны муллов и зоны тварей имеют стационарное состояние. Было бы гораздо круче если бы на карте места их расположения появлялись стихийно и непредсказуемо. Особенно зоны дождей с тварями. Я наиграл только 15 часов +- и мне очень понравилась игра. Я полностью уверен, что пройдя её всю - поставил бы 10 баллов! И не понимаю тех, кто ставил 4 или 5. Про 0 , 1, 2 я вообще молчу. Что это? Чем можно обосновать 0 , 1 или 2 бала за такую игру? Пока за 15 часов я понял что это не шедевр, но что вообще шедевр? Это по меньшей мере отлично сделанная и добротная игра, по меньшей мере. Для меня же это глоток свежего воздуха в индустрии, помешанной на получении денег от очередных частей очередных штампованных игр. Она как минимум необычна и свежа, она интригует и внушает местами какое то мистическое, внутреннее переживание, которое трудно объяснить. 9 из 10 Хидео, после прохождения я бы поставил все 10, я уверен в этом.     I love how the controls require dedication. You can't have one hand on the controller and the other on you phone else Sam will be tripping all over the place. The story also has that Kojima charm to it that you could only get from MGS before.

    Love it! Very engaging story, gorgeous open spaces to explore, interesting take on social interactions and multiplayer.
    This game is not for everyone. But if you are into Sci-fi mixed with weird AF Kojima twists you will feel right at home.

    Game runs very smoothly. Haven't had one bug or game crash. I enjoy the soundtrack very well done. The vibe and scenery is so eerie it fits the scifi vibe very well. The game system pics up very quickly after the first initial scenes. The acting is just spot on with all the key roles. I cant wait to finish.

I was debating for hours and finally i was like, " I want to be a part of this whether it's good or bad!" I have no regrets. I can not wait to play more. People say the first 3-6 hours were boring. I was debating for hours and finally i was like, " I want to be a part of this whether it's good or bad!" I have no regrets. I can not wait to play more. People say the first 3-6 hours were boring.     Ignore the haters this is a one of a kind game, am only 10 hours in and u can see and feel the quality. Only giving a 9 because I don’t kno how the rest of the game will be, but I expect I will be changing my 9 to a 10 once I have finished it.. Any1 debating buying this should do cos it is a unique experience.

    A more elaborate version of "journey" meets "the postman". Although Kojimas message is anything but subtle his ambition in making a game that defies convention is a breath of fresh air in todays tedium of games. Solid game on all accounts if you have mind for patience and exploration.

    unique and intuitive, a very fresh and fun experience

    i personally find the challenge of being a postman in this dystopian future to be thrilling and fun. Its such an absurd concept for a game, but somehow between the story and the game play mechanics i find it to be very rewarding.

    So far Death Stranding has been a very solid experience with unique and tense moments peppered by an interesting story. There absolutely IS gameplay here and it’s something pretty different. I’m personally having fun with the traversal mechanics and the gear planning and management.     Kojima has done it again, there’s no game like this out there. It’s such an immersive experience and such a beautiful game. Can feel a bit fetch questy and repetitive but you have to look at the forest for the trees it’s about the journey not the destination.     Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
