Every character starts with one outfit, in 2 colours, unlocked. Additional ones must be obtained by gaining Pattern Points through in game activities. Whilst this might sound reasonable, the drop rate is utterly atrocious. They are about to reach a patch that increases it tenfold for single player, but even then you would need to compete arcade mode more that 1,800 times on max difficulty, or win more than 4,000 ranked matches to unlock everything. So unless you are a top tier player with hundreds of hours to spare, forget about it.

Even worse, the points are allocated completely randomly, so you might win with Kasumi but get points against a character you never use, or haven't purchased yet. When you have unlocked them, they still need in game money to use. Bare in mind you got far more outfits in the demo, and this is a truly scummy move that's worse than anything EA or Activision have pulled.

Add to that a season pass that costs more than the game, no tag mode, no lobbies (although they are coming in an update) and these negatives overwhelm what is fundamentally a decent game. Do not purchase the game as it is right now.

Solid fighter, with unique gameplay that feels refined. Super approachable and easy to pick up and play. I've played a lot of other fighting games and haven't really stuck with any of them. But Dead or Alive 6 is pure fun and I have such a blast I want to keep playing it. And the more I play the better I get at the game. And the more I play the better I get at the game. There's nothing like the rush of winning a round with a well timed hold after guessing where the opponent is going to strike, or getting a critical stun, unleashing a flurry of blows and ending with a cinematic break blow that sends your opponent flying through the stage!

The online matchmaking so far has been great and hasn't matched me against anyone at much higher rank or skill level like Street Fighter or Soul Calibur. Because of this even if I get destroyed in the first match I want to rematch because there's still a chance I can turn things around. When I lose, I always know why I lost and what mistakes I made.

My negatives are that season pass is overpriced, and the costumes so far have been unattractive pallet swaps. Team ninja is getting away from DOA's sex appeal and going for a more puritanical look that makes the characters and costumes simply unappealing. I hope that they realize they aren't making their core fans happy by trying to please people who hate sexy women and aren't going to play their game. In the meantime, I feel really bad for anyone who bought the season pass.

So my biggest problem with this game is the lack of sexy costumes.. Ya the microtransactions are bad.. But I only like a couple outfits anyways.. No point in buying any DLC. And its not right that they make you pay to unlock hair colours.. But there isnt another game like this. Soulcalibur 6 the closest thing to it. DOA needs to learn from them.. Have a good character creator. Soulcalibur 6 has such a great one. Now DOA6 improved the gameplay from DOA5LR. It added another bar for a super move by pressing R1 when its full. It looks cool and pretty much every fighting game did this now. Injustice 2 and Soulcalibur 6 did it. I actually like DOA6 super moves the best. Im not a fan of the quest mode. This game is best played for fun. Quest mode reminds me a little bit of libra of soul in Soulcalibur 6. These modes help and make you learn how to play the game and not just press buttons. But in DOA6 I think its a bit tough because of a timing issue. Maybe its just me? But its annoying when to do a ground attack you have to time it perfectly.. It rarely works for me.. In quest mode to complete a quest you have to do all the moves on a checklist.. The only reason I even bother is to unlock some outfits.. But a lot of them dont even look good... I havent played story mode yet. I think both DOA5LR and DOA6 look great. The art style is a bit different. Also they took out some modes.. No tag team mode now.. DOA5LR is a way better game overall. But DOA6 is worth getting on sale. But get ready to spend more for dlc characters, outfits and hair colours. Soulcalibur 6 is a better game though. Get that if you havent played it. Also in DOA5 you could unlock boob bounce mode lol I dont see that in DOA6.. Game and gameplay kind of reminds me of Injustice 2. This game could be so much better... What a shame but Im still playing it.. Also the game displays XBOX controles on PS4... Its really annoying..

I really want to like this game as a lifelong DOA fan, but this is probably the weakest installment yet. With the best years of the Dead or Alive franchise behind us, DOA6 is an alright game in it's own right, but does not live up to the reputation the precedes it.

The first big issue is that the online connections are god awful. It is beyond frustrating to be playing a ranked match and there is so much delay between when you press a button and when your move appears on the screen that you may as well not play at all. I also am not a fan of the super bar at all. I think that the combat in this game is the least fundamentals focused of the franchise, and that fighters in general have had core fundamentals take a back seat for "hype" MvC length combos and comeback factors galore.

The game play variety is nothing you can't get from DOA5, or you know DOA2. WIth the botched online, you will probably have your fill after 10 or so matches a session (with 6 of the more than likely being poor connections), you have pretty much all the same single player modes. One thing that was missing, and was absent in 5 as well were arcade mode endings. I think these have sadly become a thing of the past in fighters in general, but DOA, like its peers, opts for none. The game has lost a lot of the charm that made it stand out from the crowd. Oh and tag battle is missing, but there are titles that involve playing tag battle to unlock... Talk about @$$ backwards!

I also do not think fatal rush is the mechanic that will give new players accessibility to the world of DOA. Experienced players will easily learn how to deal with it, and will be more of a "Press R1 to throw out an unsafe move and eat a huge punish" rather than "Press R1 for a new Fatal Rush combo", leaving players who rely on it at a huge disadvantage.

All in all, I really wanted to like this game, but it's very hard to do. I can see the good in it that it is a decent fighter in it's own right, but with the butchered character personalities in story mode that are unfaithful to their past personalities, lack of returning members that have been in the series since day one, and limited modes for people who may not see online ranked as their go to mode, Dead or Alive leaves you longing for the golden days of the series.

Juego interesante en la línea de otros Dear Or Alive, escenarios muy bonitos, gran variedad de personajes y buenos gráficos, modos de juego interesantes.

Solid fighting game. Great fun to play but its missing all the bells and whistles that make it a complete product. Seems to be the norm these days sadly. I would totally pay full price for the inevitable re-release with all the dlc costumes and stuff included but in its current state I'd only buy on sale.

    Pros:
    - The fighting mechanics are better than DoA5 Last Round.
    - English voice overs are not as cringy as in prior versions. Cons: - For such a new version the graphics have not improved. - The new soundtrack is very bland and uninspiring. - Inexplicably long loading times...even getting into Practice Mode. - Monetization of costumes still one of the worst in gaming - If for

    - If for any reason your controller disconnects for a second while Online, the game will automatically kick you out of the match....this needs a patch immediately.

The Dead or Alive franchise needs a lot more than just a new number next to its title....6 is very disappointing.

As someone who is a long time Doa fan I will say I felt underwhelmed with Doa6. The fighting mechanics in this game are phenomenal and feel amazing but the visuals are meh to me. Overall, i love the fighting mechanics and the new combos however everything else fell flat hopefully in doa7 they will focus on everything and take in more advice from the fans. Expand

Dead or Alive 6 was a huge letdown especially for fans of the series due to its underwhelming amount of support received from developers. It didn’t even last a year, which says a lot about this game.

Is Dead or Alive 6 worth picking up? No. Unless you really (and I mean really) need to know what happens in the next installment of the franchise. Yes, credit where credit is due with the gameplay, roster, and visuals, but everything about the game just has this air of ‘lacking’ around it. The soundtrack could have done a lot more, most of the design was just plain bad, the story felt thrown together at the last minute, and the length of the campaign just doesn’t justify the £54 price tag attached to the game.

The combat system has been tweaked just enough to keep things fresh for Dead or Alive 6, but there is this niggling feeling that the budget just wasn't there for this game, which is unfortunate, because there are plenty of modes and great characters to enjoy. A few too many aspects stand out as sub-par, though, leading to disappointment for many that have been waiting so long for the next entry in this franchise. Still a whole lot of fun and worth at least trying the free-to-play version out if curious, but it may be best to wait for the likely Ultimate edition.

Fast paced, addictive and funny as always, but it doesn’t seem the best episode in the Dead or Alive series, so far.
