Tired of rushed unfinished games that you have pay extra money to get stuff you should have gotten when the game came out.

this game is a disappointing sequel:
    - no tag mode
    - a bad costume unlocking system
    - very expensive season pass
    - first day dlc
    - reduced breasts
    - less sexy suits
    - The two new characters are boring.

Well, they cut off Ryu’s balls and killed the Ninja Gaiden series. I guess it only makes sense to hack off Kasumi’s money makers and throw the DOA series in the same grave.

Once again the Team at Koei Tecmo (the real Team Ninja died back in 2008) shows a fundamental lack of understanding of what makes their games work and what content their fans expect from them. Dead or Alive has always been a bubbly and ridiculous 3d fighter, never taking itself too seriously. Dead or Alive 5 Vanilla tried to take the serious “I’m a fighter” stance and it quickly fell flat. Thankfully the Ultimate and Last Round editions brought back the outrages costumes and over the top stages.

But here we are with DOA 6… and it kinda feels like I jumped back in time and I’m back with the basic and boring DOA 5. Other than bringing Street Fighter 4’s focus meter into the DOA Series, there is precious little, new and exciting content in the game. The only thing more boring than the two new characters is the selection of costumes to unlock… most of them being color swaps!

I’ll admit I’m an older Team Ninja fan and the DOA5s were my least favorite in the series… it does not change the fact that I bought all three games and a bunch of DLC. Looking at DOA6 I can’t help but wonder… what am I paying for? Where are the new characters? I already paid to use Phase 4, Tengu, and Mai, why are they behind a paywall… AGAIN! Where are all the cool costumes? Why not design costumes that match better with the stages? Fighting on a Spanish Galleon? Give me a bloody pirate outfit!

End of the day whether you a fan of the classic games or the 5s, it’s hard to recommend this game to anyone, there is simply not enough new content for the asking price.

One last Note: Can you Imagine the outrage if Ryu from Street Fighter series was in a wetsuit on the Box for SF 5? Kasumi’s classic blue outfit is CLASSIC and I don’t see why Koei Tecmo is embarrassed by their characters and their fans… shame on them.

This is going to be a fair review based on the launch release of a deluxe pre-order I made on this game. Way too many reviews anywhere are being too generous for what's going on here.

This is going to be a fair review based on the launch release of a deluxe pre-order I made on this game. Way too many reviews anywhere are being too generous for what's going on here.

I like DOA, quite a bit actually, and with DOA5LR, I had my many issues with the game overall, but I still had a lot of fun. So it's nice to be able to see some of the problems I had before get addressed here in DOA6. I will give a list summary here of my core problems in DOA5LR that I think did well here in DOA6:

1.) Music - This might annoy some people but even with the addition of previous title's tracks put into the game for DOA5LR I still didn't enjoy the soundtrack much. It felt underwhelming and incomplete to me and while people may not like the soundtrack for DOA6, the music I've heard so far I really do like.

2.) Stages - I didn't like most of the stages in DOA5LR, they felt very lifeless and stale to me. Almost like there was no flare to them. DOA6 i've enjoyed the stages a lot so far, so definitely an improvement there.

3.) Combat - DOA5LR had a great system, but I always felt it needed a change, or some tweaking. DOA6 is really fun and the strongest part of the game for me. A few little things I'm not a big fan of, but so far it's hitting a mark that I and lots of others like.

4.) Visuals - Hear me out. Visually it's less impressive than DOA5LR, but overall I like them better here. I'm not adamant about games looking super realistic. I like games to look like games after all. Plus it feels like the characters have their own base design models instead of being copies and pastes like in DOA5LR.

5.) Story - Cool concept, just badly thrown together here in DOA6. It, at the very least, is still better than DOA5LR, but it's still bad regardless.

6.) Customization - An obvious improvement, while overshadowed by several other fighting game titles, is still a nice addition for this franchise.

And now comes my major problems with the game. First of all, it's an unfinished game. No online lobby matches, single victory/match start poses, a very watered down and stale DOA Quest mode, high priced season passes as usual, etc.

For a game that's $60, this isn't worth it. It's actually infuriating that this game costs $60 for an incomplete game that has plans to include the "remaining parts of the game" the coming MONTHS. I said months. This is absurd, and I could forgive most of it a bit more if lobby matches were a part of the launch game and unlocking costumes through costume parts weren't completely random. The fact that this game was hyped up to have all these different "modes" that have existed since the 90s (arcade, time attack, vs, survival, tutorial, and so on), I shouldn't have expected much out of what we got here. I love DOA, I want to see it get better.

But how it stands, this game is not good. Shady practices of giving your paying customers an essential beta/demo for a full priced AAA title, a very mediocre new Quest mode, giving fans the same costumes as the previous game, making said costumes stupidly hard to unlock because you can't even get points towards the character you're using, offering previous characters as paid DLC, a bad story that looks rushed, rank only online currently (lol, this is the biggest joke here), odd character animations for some of the characters, plenty of bugs (some are ludicrous), a ridiculously overpriced season pass, and just the overall lack of actual content this game has.

I am not okay with how greedy the creators of this game are being. If I could I would rate below a 0 for how much garbage that is, but as a game itself it's still pretty good in its own right. The absolute best part is the combat, where it matters most, but I can't forgive all the missing stuff and charging fans the amount that they have for an unfinished game. Very very bad move there.

    **EDIT**

So not only are we not getting lobbies yet, but now we're getting a temporary point multiplier after it was confirmed by the company themselves prior that it was permanent. Sooo, they lied there, and now they're waiting to add lobbies until the END of March, AFTER they release an adjustment to where points are assigned for costumes, while adding costumes to buy. Give me a break, I'm changing my score to a flat zero now. Pushing back their mediocre patch, giving us crap that should've been given already, still holding off on content to COMPLETE the game further down the road. No, you can take a fat zero.

Well not with DOA6. The game has less content than the DEMO.

There is a terrible system of grinding. You get maybe 200 pattern points IF you clear all objectives in each mission, but these don't go to the outfit you select, or the character the game makes you play as, but to a random outfit from any of the rostered characters. What's more, if the outfit costs less than you won, you lose the remaining points. Ranked matches only count if WON and you only win 20 or so patterns and that's only until the 14th of March. After March 14, you will only get 2 points per ranked match won. Oh how generous.

There are fewer poses. DOA5LR/U had 2 intro and 3 win poses. This game has only one each.

There is no TAG team fighting.

Story mode completion unlocks nothing of value.

As is this game offers less content than the DEMO and less than previous DOA games. It is very sad that Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo treat their fans this way. Unless they fix this, I won't be purchasing any DLC content - because what's the point - if you can't have your favourite characters wear expensive outfits?

As for gameplay - it is decent but not groundbreaking. It's neither better nor worse than DOA5's.

Music is great. But so was LR's.

Thank you for reading this review.

Lacking in content at launch to be patched in at later dates. Ludicrously expensive season pass for a game that will likely have two more separate editions with their own passes and hundreds of dollars of DLC on the side. Horrible online play for competitive. But this being a fighting game, a strong multiplayer component would allow all of this to be forgiven, and unfortunately that not the case here either. Not having lobbies is a huge problem, leaving you to hunt for your friends online, they say they are going to fix it by the end of the month but how the game plays now, with frequent bouts of lag.... I have my doubt.

If your a die hard fan of fighting games and just want to see some ridiculous moves, you should wait for the free to play version to hit, everyone else should wait for Mortal Kombat in April.

Every character starts with one outfit, in 2 colours, unlocked. Additional ones must be obtained by gaining Pattern Points through in game activities. Whilst this might sound reasonable, the drop rate is utterly atrocious. They are about to reach a patch that increases it tenfold for single player, but even then you would need to compete arcade mode more that 1,800 times on max difficulty, or win more than 4,000 ranked matches to unlock everything. So unless you are a top tier player with hundreds of hours to spare, forget about it.

Even worse, the points are allocated completely randomly, so you might win with Kasumi but get points against a character you never use, or haven't purchased yet. When you have unlocked them, they still need in game money to use. Bare in mind you got far more outfits in the demo, and this is a truly scummy move that's worse than anything EA or Activision have pulled.

Add to that a season pass that costs more than the game, no tag mode, no lobbies (although they are coming in an update) and these negatives overwhelm what is fundamentally a decent game. Do not purchase the game as it is right now.

Obviously not. The content compared to previous iterations is a joke. Not including colour variations the male characters have only 2 costumes, female characters have 5, which might not sound terrible but when you consider that DOA has always been about the costumes it’s extremely disappointing. There’s no longer a tag mode, which was great! Why did they remove it? Tag combos and tag out throws added so much more to the game, perhaps they’ll sell tag mode as DLC in the future. Speaking of DLC, which was available from day one at a ludicrous price offered only 2 extra characters and a bunch of costumes, probably the costumes from previous games. It seems, they’re business model is to resell content that we had bought in previous games at a premium price.
Now, fighting games are competitive so, in this day and age we expect a coherent online mode, not with DOA6, currently only ranked match can be selected, no lobbies, you can’t even play with friends online. It almost feels like a beta.
My advice would be to shun this game until it’s on sale, which probably won’t be long judging by its sales and reviews.
To conclude, DOA6 offers less than half the content of DOA5, online is unfinished. No tag mode, significantly less costumes and corporate greed. However! The core mechanics and gameplay are flawless! Which is a shame as this game could have been great if the developers had more time to actually finish the product and not tried to drip feed content at a premium price.

It is too random, especially if you're trying to get items for a specific character. Worst of all is the overpriced season pass. I've paid $60 for the game. The SP is $93. On the positive side, the core gameplay is fine, however the flaws here just outweigh this. I've found myself going back to DOA5 Last Round. I'm not going to go back to 6 until it is fixed similar to Battlefront II (EA). Expand

Initially I liked it so I gave it a 9, but I gotta correct it. Visually this is a big improvement over DOA5. The control scheme however goes boring real quick, with autocombo’s and such. Unlocking outfits is a drag, you need to grind way too long considering it’s as much a fanservice game as a fighting game at this point, if not more. I bought on launch and I’m getting very little content considering I payed 80 dollars or whatever (digital deluxe). They improved it a little in a patch but you should unlock like in DOA 5: an outfit per arcade playtrough, up till this point you might take days to unlock the outfit you want. They’ve put in less outfits and this seems their attempt to hide that. The prices and amounts of DLC are ridiculous. Not to mention the storymode is lackluster at best.

I used to love DOA but this is not actually worth the full price. Not even $20. I don’t recommend it. Don’t vote in favor of this nonsense like I did by buying it. We should not pay developers for ripping us off. I hate to admit it to myself as i hate wasting money but this game, although visually pleasing, sucks monkeyballs.

So now here we are, after the game turned one year old; we finally see just how despicably greedy Tecmo KOEI is. They love it, they love monetizing every single little individual piece of content for their game making it cost well over the price that the game should cost. Would you actually pay $3,000 for a video game?
This has to be the absolute breaking point for the company.

If you're playing online and someone else has the same costume on the same character you're playing, you can't use it because they're the same color. They didn't think to put multiple colors for costumes in case if this happens.

Today they released some mash-up pack with an Atelier game, the costumes cost 3 tickets. You HAVE to buy the 10 tickets if you just want one costume from it. Along with this overpriced costume pack today, they released hair colors. They cost 1 ticket, but if you pick a color you like, you need to pay the actual in-game currency to revert the hair color back to normal. Well, it seems if you want that hair color back, you gotta pay another 1 ticket for the one you already paid for.

This game is a waste of good potential and is monetized to Hell and back. Dead or Alive 5 was absurd with this, but as of today, I am done with this. This game and it's monetization is in no way consumer friendly and I urge EVERYONE to stay away from it. Unless you love spending $500 on a game, that's your problem and you have too much money to waste are the reason why games are monetized like this nowadays.

I don't really have much to say on the game so far, other then it's almost a retread of 5. You can still go into arcade mode and win some new outfits or go into online play to fight experienced players. There never really has been much to the DOA story, in fact mostly the story has some kind of discontinuity towards earlier games. Before the March 4 patch, the grid for costumes would length to unlock and the getting costume pieces are completely RNG and a bit unfair. The story is bad but its so bad is actual funny to play. So you can get some enjoyment from it.
The positive being the game looks great and better than before. The boobies hasn't been toned down but can calmed down in the settings for those who hate core values. The maps are fresh to play bringing back old stage from the series history. Most importantly the gameplay is polished and smooth. The characters are great and the hits and sounds feel like they hurt and left an impact.

I have played 60 hours of this game and haven't unlocked a single outfit that I actually want. It's clearly set up this way to get you to buy outfits in the store. Also the grind in DOA 6 is ridiculas, all the least desireable outfits unlock first and after 100s of hour you might start to unlock the sexy stuff you acctually want. When you spend 50 minutes grinding in arcade and all you have unlocked by the end of it is 10% of one costume and 15% of another costume, both probally boiring church clothes you dobt even want, It dosent incentivise you to play another round. Most time I played Dia 6 I played one game mode and stoped 20 mins later dishearted by the grind and how liitle I had acheived, no matter how good you played. A modern fighing game needs to reward the player sufficiently. Almost every other fighter has nailed it this gen, but not my favorite franchise Doa, they screwed themselves with greed.

Other issue is the weird difficulty spikes. Some characters like jan Lee pull off attacks so fast and doing so much damage that you're dead in seconds without even realising what's happening well every other fight you haven't even had a challenge. Overall what potentially could have been the game that put DOA back on the map is probably the game that burries it because of greed self-censorship and not catering to their fans on top of treating their fans like they're all whales that will spend anything.

The arenas are the best you will find in a fighting game, some are a closed of arena and others have different levels, they are all interactive in some way or another.
    The gameplay is 10/10.

So the parts that are important to a fighting game are spot on.
The story is rather meh, there are some fun portions but a masterpiece it is not. Then again, who in their right mind play a fighting game for great story?

    Cons.
The unlock system is beyond **** That it takes a long time to unlock things I have nothing against, but to have it being completely random is just so damn crappy. A good way would be to give you things in survival that was points and then let us choose which ones we wanted to spend said points on.
The overpriced season pass... ya, well actually calling it overpriced would be an understatement.

And lastly I have to mention this.
As a long time fan of this series I am tired of games "journalists" taking a **** on the games and the fans of them every single chance they get. One of them even going so far as to calling one of the female characters a sex slave... can you guys even hear yourselves or are you so damn full of yourselves? Same guy even thought Bass and Tina was suppose to be Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump... ya.... no, just no. This is why gamers are no longer taking you serious.
I can still remember back when DoA2 came out, a couple of games "journalists" take a dump on the game while praising Tekken Tag, one year later the same people looked back and had to agree that they had played DoA2 way more then Tekken Tag, the fighting game they had taken a dump on turned out to be their favorite fighting game that year.

And the more I play the better I get at the game. There's nothing like the rush of winning a round with a well timed hold after guessing where the opponent is going to strike, or getting a critical stun, unleashing a flurry of blows and ending with a cinematic break blow that sends your opponent flying through the stage!

The online matchmaking so far has been great and hasn't matched me against anyone at much higher rank or skill level like Street Fighter or Soul Calibur. Because of this even if I get destroyed in the first match I want to rematch because there's still a chance I can turn things around. When I lose, I always know why I lost and what mistakes I made.

My negatives are that season pass is overpriced, and the costumes so far have been unattractive pallet swaps. Team ninja is getting away from DOA's sex appeal and going for a more puritanical look that makes the characters and costumes simply unappealing. I hope that they realize they aren't making their core fans happy by trying to please people who hate sexy women and aren't going to play their game. Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a close second. Having reserved the CE of DoA 6, I'm supremely pleased with Team Ninjas latest outing. We all knew the SJW's were going to whine and cry about the boobs and outfits. This was expected. Also, the DoA series is known for tons of DLC and so I feel the high cost of the Season Pass is warranted. With 30 characters and often times numerous outfits/skins for each character, along with extra stages, this equates to around $1-$3 per add-on. On the down side, I'm not a huge fan of how the costumes are unlocked as random parts, the stages seem slightly underwhelming compared to previous outings, and the roster is very meh. Having said that, I have faith these minor gripes will be rectified by future updates. I'm not sure why reviews keep labeling this game as incomplete. Dead or Alive 6 possui um sistema de combate robusto, mas a estrutura em torno dele não se aproveita disso. Embora o tutorial e o modo DOA Quest façam um trabalho decente para que você entenda o combate

    Pros
+ Gameplay is great as always
    + Characters are balanced
+ Visuals look great and menus running smooth compared to the last game
+ Free to play version which is pretty much the full game with limited characters
+ Tutorials are pretty easy to understand
+ DOA is in between Fun and Competitive in terms of difficulty
+ Characters look greater than ever
+ Environmental hazards are balanced and work great
+ Arcade, Survival and Time Attack modes still exist to playthrough freely
+ Menus and cutscenes run at a smooth 60FPS
+ The best customization especially presetting costumes and accessories from hair to glasses
    + Clothes destruction exists
+ Great choice of characters as always, including the newcomers
+ Netcode on my end has been positve
    + Digital Foundry Approved
    > Looks Great, Plays Great and has Plenty of Solid Features
+ PC Version is the sharpest and smoothest version around
+ It's still like classic DOA
    + Choice between 3-Way and 4-Way Hold (3 Way for DOA2 style)
+ Ability to modify random choices from options
+ Great English and Great Japanese Voice acting (Personally wish I could change voices per character like Capcom games)
+ Love the more realistic look of the game
+ Boob Jiggle still exists despite it being toned down
+ All characters in this game have their themes from DOA1 to DOA5 unlockable
+ 24 + Nyotengu and Phase 4 DLC = 26 Playable characters and more on the way including Mai.
    > People that say the roster has less, most characters are back outside of guest characters so I don't know what people are talking about. Last Round had 36. Akira, Pai, Jacky, Naotora and Sarah are Guests. Technically Rachel and Momiji too.
    > Only missing Leon, Ein, Gen Fu, Alpha-152 in reality. 3 of them can easily return.
+ Soundtrack is superb as always

    Neutral
+- You have to unlock each song individually by playing each character one by one leveling them up. Order always being for unlocking songs DOA5>4>3>2>1.
+- The unlock system is better compared to launch but it should just be get coins then buy the costume.
+- The Break System is good however I don't like how every fighting game now needs special meters

Cons (Which for the most part are minor Nitpicks)
    - Maps are kinda bland
    - Forced to play Quest Mode to unlock things
    - Less intros and win lines for some reason
    - Loading times even on SSD seem kinda long
    - Clothes destruction could be so much better than hair being undone, glasses flying off and a hole in a shirt.
    - Optimization could use some work
    - Graphics overall aren't too impressive
    - Missing Tag Mode
    - Certain characters didn't return like Gen Fu which I feel may return at a different date
    - Awful Value Season Pass for costumes and some characters
    - Lackluster Story - Newcomers didn't get theme songs - Certain players lack a good frame rate causing lag ingame - Cut 30 Episodes from Story Mode - No Arcade mode endings, not a fan of fighting games moving away from this. - Lobbies came as a late update but now exists but are somewhat buggy - Lots of outfits are just retextures compared to 5 which characters had more outfits base game. Overall rating 8 out of 10. It's a good sequel no doubt but there are a few key things that keep it from being better. Team Ninja really has to step their game up with some of the pricing and lack of features though. You should be reeling in more fans, not pushing them away. Yes it's the same review from my steam account.

    - Improved details to base model (finger details, toes, etc.)
    - Much more environmental hazards
    - More unlockables within the game's quest mode and online mode than most other fighters
    - A more rounded and on point story mode
    - Very strong soundtrack
    - Built in accessory equipment selection (sunglasses, hair setup, bracers, etc.)
    - Core game is quite cheap compared to other fighters

    Cons:
    - Breasts physics are less smooth compared to the Soft Engine v.2
    - A downgrade from the Soft Engine in regards to clipping and adjustment onto objects (can usually only be spotted during photo mode)
    - Expensive cosmetic DLC
    - Underwear selection is still hidden under "select character with button x, y, z, etc."

    Taste dependent:
    - Reduced breast sizes
    - Less anime graphics
    - Lobby mode to be added as free DLC later this month
    - Changed combat system with less focus on stun-combos
    - New "zoom in on vital strikes"/brutality (can be turned off)
    - Cloth damage on most costumes from the start
    - Can be played on low graphics for weak hardware or 4k on a strong computer.

Overall the game is good and I feel personally the game is getting a lot more hate than it should as other fighting games such as SF5 didn't even release complete and is already being used to compare DOA6 to which isn't a fair comparison at all. I do recommend this game for anyone interested because it's a ton of fun and I also recommend avoiding the season pass like the plague. Expand

8/10. I am utterly tired of all those lies, disinformation, zero's and all around hatred and arrogance from people all around. I'll point out what i found good and bad based on my experience with both beta's and 50+ hours online and offline in full retail version on PS4 Console.

Positives: +Characters. Good, "clean" roster of 24 characters, a lot of veterans and newcomers from DoA5.

    Positives:

+Characters. Good, "clean" roster of 24 characters, a lot of veterans and newcomers from DoA5. Two new characters Diego and NiCO. There is also 1 from pre-order(dlc), and 1 from deluxe edition(dlc). So, totally up to 26 characters.
Roster is totally fine, it's not "weak" as some people complain. Main differences with a DoA5, is that DoA5 had more characters simply because there was a bunch of characters from other franchise - Virtual Fighter. And later other cross-over characters as dlc.

+Graphics. Game is looking amazing, same engine as DoA5 and Nioh, just with some improvement, better lighting, better textures, better effects such as sparks, smoke, sweat, dirt, dust and others little details. And also jiggle physics is there, if it's so important for you, my fellow creeps.
Again, people saying graphics are bad and i don't understand it. Game is looking amazing, characters and faces are great, everything looking natural, stages are looking great, but of course there is some low res textures there and crowds are pretty bland. Picture is really clean and smooth, nothing blinds you like overflow of bloom and insane explosives, UI is minimal and accurate. But some stages do have some problems, not critical. Seems like those who complaining about graphics, don't actually playing it, but just watching it. Those who don't know thrill of the fight.
Compare it with some other games like Soul Calibur 6 and especially Tekken 7 with it's Unreal Engine. Characters are horrifying, some ugly, some deformed. Faces are broken to the point of laughs. "Sweat" effects looking more like "oil", characters looking unnatural and creepy. Bloom effects turned on to the most extreme as well as some other filters, effects are all over the place, UI has a size of 1/4 of the screen, and almost every stage has some problem with how it looks.

+Gameplay. No much to say honestly, same fast combat, some new features, some were deleted from the game. Gameplay is fun, fast, smooth and has a lot of things to experiment with, and as always strike>throw>hold system is working. Game has new tricks and attacks with sidestep for every character, now it has a meter, which is spend on equivalent of "super" or half of it on special parry against opponents "super" or other attacks. "Super" is not gamebroken, actually it's damage was lowered with a launch of the game, compared with beta's.

+Music...some of it. Not much, just i found some of the tracks are much cooler than in DoA5. Also there is a TON of tracks you can unlock in game.

+Content. Yep, you heard it right, but no worries, i will be talking about problems later. So, let's get it simple and just count it together:
    Story Mode (+characters episodes, total of 3-4 hours of gameplay);
    DoA Quest (104 quest with a specific tasks to complete, rewards, challenges and opportunity to play as DLC characters you don't have. By the time of writing the amount of quests increased up to 130 with a patch and will continue to do so);
    Fight (Versus 1vs1, Arcade, Time Attack and Survival. Each mode has 8 difficulties);
    Training (Free Training, Huge Tutorial, Command and Challenges for every character);
    Online (there is only ranked matches right now);
Database (Where you can change your character appearance, check your statistic, change and unlock and insane amount of music, watch replays and AI vs Ai, and unlock a lot of documents to read about the history and lore of DoA.
I know a bunch of AAA Fighting games that have less than that, ether at vanilla state or even after a long time passing.

+Online. Online is good, even with a 1+ connection with some opponents i have smooth experience. So i guess some haters must check their own net connection and must do something with it. If they of course interested in playing online competitive games and not compare graphics and cry on forums.

    Negatives:

-Lip sync is horrible, at least with english voices.
-Story is bland, but at least short and have some ether funny or fanservice moments(i meant lore wise, not for the boobs wise).
-There is no lobby matches right now and tag battles. BUT. Lobbies will come soon in march with a free update, and tag battle can be possible, because in the second beta, this mode was spoiled.
-Outfits. There is 5 for the most women and 2 for men. And each has 3 colors. It's not enough.
-Stages. All of them looking awesome. But if some are good, others are broken insanely with an interactable objects and ruining the flow of gameplay.
-Parts for unlocking outfits. It's broken, random and robs the player. Devs are fixing it.

Sadly i exhausted amount of characters i can write. Season Pass is other discussion.

The amount of modes in this game is great with the default Online Modes (Lobby and Ranked), Training and Versus modes, Survival and tutorial modes, and the new Quest mode which lets you do challenges while fighting to unlock extras and coins to buy more outfits and cosmetic gear.

Besides those there is the Story mode, which follows suit of the Dead Or Alive 5 and even uses the same layout with it's chapter screen. i haven't played the story yet, but it has been said it improves it on the previous installment, and the story in DOA5 was pretty good.

The Character roster in DOA6 is very good, it includes the main fighters from the previous games and adds 2 new fighters NiCO (my new blue haired waifu) and Diego. Each character is balanced and and has great looking extra outfits.

Some more outfits are more revealing than others, with the "SOFT" option active, makes their boobs jiggle like jelly... wait nope more like Water. a fair few of these outfits can be destroyed revealing some nice skin or long hair if they were wearing pigtails (eg. Lei fang and Marie Rose), and seeing their glasses fly off is always the spectacle to behold (puns).

Arena's so far are a little lacking but, they are pretty good so far, a fair few having multiple stages, which are can also be played separately. Just waiting on Zack's Island and the Bikini outfit bundle.

Other features include a wardrobe to change outfits for various characters. Music player which you can change menu and character music. An encyclopedia and trivia for previous events in the series.

Season Pass aside which is 100% optional with it only having a few characters that can be bought separately, and numerous outfits that you don't need, (You can buy them separately as well or in a bundle with 13 costumes, but as of now, only in bundles, as buying them separate will be arriving later)

This is the best in the Series, and one of the best fighting games on the PS4.

And its not right that they make you pay to unlock hair colours.. But there isnt another game like this. Soulcalibur 6 the closest thing to it. DOA needs to learn from them.. Have a good character creator. Soulcalibur 6 has such a great one. Now DOA6 improved the gameplay from DOA5LR. It added another bar for a super move by pressing R1 when its full. It looks cool and pretty much every fighting game did this now. Injustice 2 and Soulcalibur 6 did it. I actually like DOA6 super moves the best. Im not a fan of the quest mode. This game is best played for fun. Quest mode reminds me a little bit of libra of soul in Soulcalibur 6. These modes help and make you learn how to play the game and not just press buttons. But in DOA6 I think its a bit tough because of a timing issue. Maybe its just me? But its annoying when to do a ground attack you have to time it perfectly.. It rarely works for me.. In quest mode to complete a quest you have to do all the moves on a checklist.. The only reason I even bother is to unlock some outfits.. But a lot of them dont even look good... I havent played story mode yet. I think both DOA5LR and DOA6 look great. The art style is a bit different. Also they took out some modes.. No tag team mode now.. DOA5LR is a way better game overall. But DOA6 is worth getting on sale. But get ready to spend more for dlc characters, outfits and hair colours. Soulcalibur 6 is a better game though. Get that if you havent played it. Also in DOA5 you could unlock boob bounce mode lol I dont see that in DOA6.. Game and gameplay kind of reminds me of Injustice 2. This game could be so much better... What a shame but Im still playing it.. Also the game displays XBOX controles on PS4... Its really annoying..

The first big issue is that the online connections are god awful. It is beyond frustrating to be playing a ranked match and there is so much delay between when you press a button and when your move appears on the screen that you may as well not play at all. I also am not a fan of the super bar at all. I think that the combat in this game is the least fundamentals focused of the franchise, and that fighters in general have had core fundamentals take a back seat for "hype" MvC length combos and comeback factors galore.

The game play variety is nothing you can't get from DOA5, or you know DOA2. WIth the botched online, you will probably have your fill after 10 or so matches a session (with 6 of the more than likely being poor connections), you have pretty much all the same single player modes. One thing that was missing, and was absent in 5 as well were arcade mode endings. I think these have sadly become a thing of the past in fighters in general, but DOA, like its peers, opts for none. The game has lost a lot of the charm that made it stand out from the crowd. Oh and tag battle is missing, but there are titles that involve playing tag battle to unlock... Talk about @$$ backwards!

I also do not think fatal rush is the mechanic that will give new players accessibility to the world of DOA. Experienced players will easily learn how to deal with it, and will be more of a "Press R1 to throw out an unsafe move and eat a huge punish" rather than "Press R1 for a new Fatal Rush combo", leaving players who rely on it at a huge disadvantage.

All in all, I really wanted to like this game, but it's very hard to do. I can see the good in it that it is a decent fighter in it's own right, but with the butchered character personalities in story mode that are unfaithful to their past personalities, lack of returning members that have been in the series since day one, and limited modes for people who may not see online ranked as their go to mode, Dead or Alive leaves you longing for the golden days of the series.

It really feels complete and cohesive and it's really enjoyable. Now the DLC is stupid. Why put costumes behind a pay wall.

So trust me, this isn’t dead or alive... play DOA 2 ULTIMATE and you will find why so many people love this game!
I hope in the future they at least make a remake version of the OLD games for the new console so me and all the fans can have a decent last game for the series.

It looks really good. It has some of my favorite fighters in it! I just feel like it’s incredibly difficult for newcomers. There needs to be a feature to just name T, P, K, etc buttons after what they are on the controller. The tutorial is definitely helpful and very detailed, but I’m having difficulty with fancier inputs like + K. Or two at once. It doesn’t tell you what exactly to do. DoIt looks really good. The tutorial is definitely helpful and very detailed, but I’m having difficulty with fancier inputs like + K. Or two at once. It doesn’t tell you what exactly to do. Do I hold the button? Do I have to be fast? When you get something right randomly, it automatically progresses to the next level. I would prefer if you could continue practicing certain things and move on when you’re ready and didn’t just get lucky with the input. I wish there were more stages, even if they have to be DLC. What I don’t like is that they’re pushing really hard to make you buy the DLC costumes. Costume sets are incredibly expensive and considering that each fighter only has 2-3 for free, this really sucks. It takes ages to get points for different (free) color options and you don’t get a lot of coins easily either. It’s really annoying that in random battles, you always see all the locked DLC outfits when looking for something that you have. Creating custom slots is a hassle for me, personally. And it takes away lots of storage space on your console if you could just manually download what you want. I also really dislike that the paid fighters are always shown. My last complaint is that there should have been a fancier main menu. More animations for the characters. It feels very empty and lifeless. Wish they would move or something. Expand

Dead or Alive 6 was a huge letdown especially for fans of the series due to its underwhelming amount of support received from developers. It didn’t even last a year, which says a lot about this game.

A shame what they did to DOA because of the idiots of the western world that can't see hot woman.
I feel bad for the new characters.
    - Changed costumes to satisfy people that can't handle a woman in skimpy costumes; - Changed Kasumi default costume ( put back later when saw the sh*t); - Censored Rachel fiend costume; -Tag mode removed -Very poor fan service -Private paradise

Is Dead or Alive 6 worth picking up? No. Unless you really (and I mean really) need to know what happens in the next installment of the franchise. Yes, credit where credit is due with the gameplay, roster, and visuals, but everything about the game just has this air of ‘lacking’ around it. The soundtrack could have done a lot more, most of the design was just plain bad, the story felt thrown together at the last minute, and the length of the campaign just doesn’t justify the £54 price tag attached to the game.

The combat system has been tweaked just enough to keep things fresh for Dead or Alive 6, but there is this niggling feeling that the budget just wasn't there for this game, which is unfortunate, because there are plenty of modes and great characters to enjoy. A few too many aspects stand out as sub-par, though, leading to disappointment for many that have been waiting so long for the next entry in this franchise. Still a whole lot of fun and worth at least trying the free-to-play version out if curious, but it may be best to wait for the likely Ultimate edition.

Fast paced, addictive and funny as always, but it doesn’t seem the best episode in the Dead or Alive series, so far.
