Feb 17, 2015It might be decadent, and looking at the screenshots in this review will tell you if it's a decadence that make you uncomfortable, but the gameplay behind it is rock solid and perfectly precise.
-
Feb 25, 2015I’m blown away by how well thought out the base design in Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is.
-
Apr 7, 2015Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is an excellent ending point for this chapter of the series. It takes all of the groundwork laid in DoA5 and polishes it off in the best way possible. Armed with an excellent roster of characters and a ton of modes, this is a great introduction to 3D fighting on the new generation of fighters. Just be prepared to be smothered with DLC options.
-
Mar 2, 2015Last Round is the absolute best version of Dead or Alive 5 to own, with a caveat. The odd pricing model hurts it, as does the overabundance of DLC, but at its core, has the smoothest gameplay of anything out there now and delivers the goods online more often than not.
-
Feb 26, 2015Overall, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the definitive version of a last gen game. Visually, it still looks great; however, it's still based on a last gen game. A new DoA running on current gen consoles with higher resolution textures can't come too soon, but for now, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is satisfactory.
-
Feb 23, 2015Dead or Alive Last Round is still a great fighter but is slowly starting to show its age, even with the overtly sexualised anime inspired characters.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMar 24, 2015The definitive DOA for your PS4. Old content greatly outweighs the new. Still plays like a dream. [April 2015, p80]
-
Mar 11, 2015If you own the original game then there's not much here for you. But if you haven't and you are looking for the best 3D fighter for your shiny, new PS4, you can't go wrong with the Last Round edition of DOA5.
-
Mar 4, 2015Despite the creaks and cracks of the franchise beginning to show, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is a solid and content-rich debut for the series on current-generation consoles.
-
Feb 25, 2015A solid, extremely accessible fighting game, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is certainly worth adding to your collection if you’re a fan of the genre.
-
Feb 24, 2015Last Round is a good re-release of the original experience on the PS4. It manages to keep the trademark low barrier of entry and complexity, but it still offers plenty of depth for fighting game fans. Even if it advertises its DLC a lot, and the titillating physics aren't to everyone's taste, you can have a lot of fun with the new title.
-
Feb 23, 2015DoA 5 Last Round is the right game at the right time, considering how much fans of the genre have been waiting for a good beat-em up on their new console. The reasonably low price and the great amount of content definitely help.
-
Feb 23, 2015Dead or Alive 5 Last Round brings DoA5's smooth gameplay to new generation consoles, with the addition of 1080p resolution and a stable 60fps frame rate.
-
Feb 18, 2015The best Dead or Alive 5 edition, especially on the Next Gen of game consoles and PC.
-
Feb 18, 2015A great fighting game that's better than ever. If you already own it, there aren't too many reasons for the upgrade, but if you don't, it's the best way to enjoy it.
-
Feb 17, 2015Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is the same, good, fighting game we talk about few years ago, now at rock solid 60fps/1080p, with 34 characters and a huge load of stages and costumes. Will this be the final edition of the game? Probably not, but if you’re looking for a fun and spectacular fighting game, sold at budget price, this is your best choice.
-
Feb 17, 2015Offensive, frantic and fun. Dead or Alive 5 Last Round still is a good fighting game with some additions: two new characters, two new stages and 1080p and 60 frames per second in Next Gen hardware. The most complete version, but few new aspects compared to its predecessor.
-
Feb 17, 2015Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is the definitive Dead or Alive 5 edition. The best DoA fighting experience with all the content seen in DoA Ultimate now in 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One with two new characters. But we expected more incentives.
-
Feb 17, 2015Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is a good chance for the fans to access all of the content of this entry in the franchise. However, and because of the questionable sexualization of the saga, that has long ago exceeded acceptable limits. You can make a good fighting game and get customers attention without the objectification of women.
-
Feb 24, 2015Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is meant for those who didn't play the original game on PS3 and Xbox 360: it's the most complete version to date, brought to you with 1080p and 60fps. Enjoy. The others should keep their money for the sixth episode.
-
Feb 21, 2015The core is still fun, but the additions are not especially enticing.
-
Feb 19, 2015It's a package filled with content, to the point that even fans of the original could consider this last round. Considering the lack of fighting games on the current gen, it's a solid offer, even if gameplay and some aspects of the graphics can feel dated.
-
Feb 19, 2015The last iteration of Dead or Alive 5 provides lots of content, but the game is basically the same we played in 2012, with only minor changes: a couple of new characters, a couple of new stages and lots of extra costumes, some of which leave nothing to the imagination.
-
Play UKMar 31, 2015The definitive version of a good fighting game, but the limited visual upgrades for PS4 fall way short of our expectations. [Issue#254, p.68]
-
May 3, 2015Put up with its farcical levels of misogyny and you'll find an approachable, satisfying fighting game that feels smoother and looks sharper than it ever has before. [Issue#160, p.100]
-
Mar 10, 2015Dead or Alive 5 Last Round offers a decent value to newcomers and will please dedicated DOA fans with the improved visuals and performance and additional content.
-
Feb 26, 2015If you’re looking for a fun, over-the-top fighter with a lot of charm, then Dead or Alive 5 Last Round has your number; it’s just too bad that the few new additions are far from compelling and there are some unfortunate bugs at launch.
-
Feb 25, 2015While the new additions and the costume collection are nice, the strongest value of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is its clean 1080p presentation on new-gen consoles where it performs cleanly and admirably.
-
Feb 25, 2015A great fighting game that is unfortunately let down by a few bugs.
-
Feb 24, 2015While no changes to the game's story mode, this is just the HD remaster of the already Ultimate version of Dead or Alive 5.
-
Feb 24, 2015Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is a good fighting game that remains similar to the last release, building on the already strong foundations created by the game two and a half years ago.
-
Feb 24, 2015Despite the occasional freezing, I enjoyed my time with Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. Its updated visuals, huge character list, and numerous costumes set it apart from previous versions of DOA 5, and the fun and interactive environments really kept me interested in the core gameplay.
-
Feb 23, 2015For the stalwart fan, it’s possible that Last Round contains just enough additions and upgrades to make a purchase necessary, especially when you consider its budget pricing, but for the less committed it may not be enough. Meanwhile, for those yet to play Dead or Alive 5, Last Round is the most complete and attractive version of an enjoyable, albeit ostentatious, fighter despite a few minor issues.
-
Feb 20, 2015If you want to upgrade to a next-generation version of this fun fighter, go ahead. If you really really want two new characters, go for it. But if you are looking for something truly new and different, you are unfortunately looking in the wrong place.
-
Feb 19, 2015Its accessibility makes it a brilliant alternative to the more technically demanding brawlers out there, and while much of what it does is unspectacular, it's a solid, satisfying title that's hard to put down when you really find your rhythm.
-
Mar 3, 2015An ish-load of content, a weird DLC-situation and over the top sexualization of the characters tell a very simple truth: Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is a game without any surprises and it is all about the steady and powerful fighting system. In other words: razor sharp graphics versus zero evolution gameplay-wise.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKApr 22, 2015Judged purely on its mechanical merits, Last Round can be considered a narrow success. [Apr 2015, p.94]
-
Feb 26, 2015As competent as the last two updates but still a fighting game held back more by its creepy designs and boring characters, than its purposefully simplistic action.
-
Mar 9, 2015When all is said and done, DOA 5 ends up being a great looking, middle of the road fighter that still heavily relies on absurd female characters in revealing outfits to sell copies.
