    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is in my top 10 of all time great video games. The story telling and cinematic cut scenes are phenomenal. It does a great job of drawing the player into the story and caring about the characters.

    Positives:
    - storing telling is very well done. Voice acting is outstanding.
    - character development
    - simplified inventory & skills management
    - excellent melee and gun combat mechanics
    - music and ambiance
    - engaging side missions with varied scenic settings and challenges
    - I think the bike fuel and damage management adds an interesting dynamic to the game
    - significant content. There is a LOT to do
    - Limited SJW virtue signaling. There is some, but not as bad as Last of Us 2
    - The use of the controller speaker was well done. I wish more PS4 games made use of the controller speaker.
    - The epilogue missions were well done and a nice surprise.

    Suggested improvements:
    - Add collectible locations to map when certain achievements are reached. For example, show all of the NERO intel locations when all of the NERO camps are found.
    - distinguish focus triangles between what is inside a building versus what is outside
    - put time of day on the main HUD view
    - open the camp gates faster or sooner as the player approaches so you don’t have to stop and wait for it to open
    - add a multiplier to experience or bounties for when the player chooses to battle or take on a side mission during the night. Some sort of incentive should be given for doing things at night.
    - automatically add zombie bounty when running over and killing a zombie with the bike. Give extra experience or credits when killing something with the bike
    - lose the plant picking, it’s a tedious game mechanic and overused in gaming.

    Bad:
    - The bigotry of stereotyping religious and "patriot" people is over the top. Likewise, ALL the "bad" guys are white. There really is no excuse for this.    … Expand

    PS fans complain about FPS drops and long loading time. LOL, What did you all expect? This game was made for PS I know but hardware is so limited there is nothing Devs can do about it. I played on PC and this game runs smooth as butter. That's what can you expect when pathetic limitations are gone. The open-world is good hoards are awesome. Somany placses to go expolor.     Soy usuario de PC y me encanta en Days Gone sus mecánicas, armas, las hordas se nota que la prensa no lo jugo suficiente ya que al comienzo no te engancha pero luego te atrapa muy buen juego el cual se merece una secuela se nota que bend studios le puso mucho empeño en todo pero no tuvieron el tiempo suficiente para arreglar todos los bugs cuando salió en PS4

    If you are playing, first of all, make sure you invest in your bike first via the Copeland camp -- do not give anything big for trust to Tucker's camp or you will be blocked by a mission that requires a motorcycle upgrade for you to proceed.     Other issues: The combat is unsatisfying and enemies are bullet sponges. Your motorcycle's gas tank is the size of a teacup and might as well have a gaping hole in it. Searching for gas isn't hard but it is a distraction and unfun. The world is charmless and flat -- there's no color or detail to make it feel real. The slavering and lip-smacking of the zombies makes everywhere you go sound like mealtime at an old folk's home -- they should sell earmuffs at the camps.

    Honestly, there is a gem of a game here but the gameplay just isn't working for me. I'm happy others like it but be warned.    … Expand

    Проходил на релизе на соньке, сейчас пере прохожу на ПК.
    Игра хорошая, звезд с неба не хватает, сюжет взрослый интересный.
    Аванпостов не так много, и они не бесят.

    If one game has made me never listen to critic reviews it is this one. I have been playing on the Playstation 5 version and can honestly say it is one of the best open world games I’ve ever played.

    I have played day's gone 3 times and as a story it has nothing original but, despite everything, I liked it a lot. The game flows in an excellent way, with the right rhythm and the characters are well characterized, so much that I become attached to the protagonist. The game play is inspired by many other games but does it the right way, making everything very enjoyable

    Beautiful, well designed world + decent story. I want to talk about "some professional reviews" for a second. Basically some of them claim that this world is boring and empty. Did we really play the same game?? Did you even try to explore?

That city area is really cool, well designed. Then there's some cool things you can discover, but i can't say what, because it would be spoilers obviously.

    Like i just don't understand some negativity toward this game. It just doesn't make sense. Voice acting is really good, writing is solid, to my surprise it's actually really natural, not cringe or forced like some other recent games.

    I would highly recommend trying it, if you don't mind long story, bikes and zombies.    … Expand

    3. This has done 100 times before / another zombie game - False.
    Days Gone is best open-world zombie game. There have been only few decent attempts for open-world zombie game before and most of them are just meh. Days Gone does it better than any previous try. So i want to ask, how has it been done 100 times before? In what universe?     Days Gone es un juego mundo abierto que te ofrece muchas horas de diversión con su interesante historia y un gameplay que te encantara.
    Days gone tiene varios problemas, uno de ellos seria la poca fauna que te puedes encontrar; hay mucha flora y eso es bueno; pero la fauna es un poco triste, lo que hace que el juego se sienta un poco vacío.
    La historia es buena, pero tampoco no es la    Days Gone es un juego mundo abierto que te ofrece muchas horas de diversión con su interesante historia y un gameplay que te encantara.
    Days gone tiene varios problemas, uno de ellos seria la poca fauna que te puedes encontrar; hay mucha flora y eso es bueno; pero la fauna es un poco triste, lo que hace que el juego se sienta un poco vacío.
    La historia es buena, pero tampoco no es la gran cosa, en algunas ocasiones el guión flojea mucho ( principalmente en el inicio), pero después se pone muy interesante.
    El gameplay fue algo que me encanto de este juego, matar a ordas de zombies, manejar en moto y despejar campamentos; fue algo muy divertido. Pero también tiene errores técnicos, el más común seria los bajones de texturas y los crasheos. Cabe recalcar que yo lo jugué 1 año después de su lanzamiento y en una ps4 fat.
    En conclusión: days gone es un juego muy disfrutable (con un inicio un poco tedioso) con un gameplay muy bueno y una historia con errores pero interesante, el mundo abierto deja un poco que desear, y los enemigos son muy buenos. Days gone fue un juego que salio muy adelantado, pero actualmente es muy disfrutable. Ojalá y le vaya bien en pc para que sony se anime a crear una secuela, porque este juego necesita una secuela.    … Expand

    One of the best games I've played for a long time. Great graphics, amazing open world, excellent mechanics, and I could relate to the characters and the story. These are all the factors that make a game great and Days Gone has them all. Some games become a chore to finish. Days Gone made me want to keep playing every day. Highly recommended.

    The best action adventure zombie game along with last of us 1.i had fun playing this as i did the last of us part 1.better than dying light in terms of gameplay.story is good and will keep you hooked,the survival aspect and bike riding is also a welcome addition.doesn't understand why the critic didn't like it.while the fans dig it.well what matter most is the player imo.

The story, the characters, graphics, scenarios, sounds, soundtrack, the scenes of the characters' interaction and that increase our immersion in the game anyway ... it's all very well done in this game! I don't know how some critics rated it less than 10! I honestly believe that whoever evaluated the game in this way, did not play Days Gone, or do not understand anything about video games.     This game is not as fearsome, stressful and bad voice acting such as Dying Light (which is a cool game too but far from this game). Days Gone has nature and much more laid back coziness.     There are still some bugs left in 2021 on PS5 such as dropped items disappearing. But it has less bugs than a Beth game AND most bugs are FUN! Such as enemy's dropped weapon bouncing around after death and enemies getting stuck inside cars until you throw a rock on them LOL!

    It's good even in 30 fps but awesome in 60fps although it gets a bit too easy in 60fps so you should definitely play it on Hard II on PS5 or PC :)

    It's an extremely entertaining game and the Challenge Mode which got added after official reviews is quite good too! REMEMBER: The perks you get in Challenges move over to Main Game! Something I learnt on my second playthrough.

    Beware of the audio settings on PS5 though. Maybe set the 3D audio to off to not get reduced aduio quality. DG has surround settings for headphones in game menu. Use that instead. But its hard to get goods settings and you might get fooled over hearing enemy sounds sounding close although they are far away. Play with the settings!    … Expand

    Half of the game is ok, i even thought it's good game. But other half of the game, all army stuff suck as hell. And repeated missions go there and bring that things sucks. Score of 5 it's more than i can give to this game.

    Days Gone is a good game that is weighed down by the amount of missed potential that is constantly on display. Starting off with the good - The open world feels both big enough and lived-in. Exploring is a blast and every location feels like it has its own backstory. The gameplay is also quite fun although the mission design leaves a bit to be desired at times. Hordes are just as terrifying as you would expect and when you get to the point where you can take them on you really feel like a powerhouse.

    Moving on to the cons, the game gets progressively worse the more you play it. The first 10 or so hours are amazing. The next 10 feel like you're stuck in the same place and the last 10 are a downward spiral of both plot and gameplay quality. By the time you get to the end the game feels like it was finished by 1/5 of the team that started it. Both the plot and the characters are nothing to write home about and the pacing is all over the place. Graphical problems are nowhere to be found in the first 10-15 hours but after that you can't go 10 mins without FPS drops, textures not loading correctly or clipping. There is also an obscene amount of loading screens toward the end of the game.

    Overall Days Gone is the Walking Dead game we never got but it lacks direction and is riddled with technical problems.

    P.S.: Whoever made the "Burnout Apocalypse" trophy can go **** themselves. Also good choice by Sony for a PS+ game.    … Expand

    After all the bug fixes (not all the bugs fixed) this is close to the definition of mediocrity. Tiresome, predictable gameplay and story, tedious fuel management, still heavily glitched after much patching. Worth playing for free but even then gets tired pretty quickly

    If I were to rate the game only by it's gameplay, it would've been an 7-8. But, thanks to Deacon's voice actor, it goes up to 9, maybe even 10. First time I've heard a realistic portrayal of a highly disturbed person in a video game, the story itself is servicable and well written, this man should get some sort of VO award.     After that, it just picked up. I loved surviving out in the unforgiving world of Days Gone. I enjoyed the combination of stealth and gunplay. I enjoyed being able to switch between the two and the variety in combat situations the monsters and the bandits.

    The side quests often have on-going stories for the npc's involved and they are dished out at regular intervals, meaning you can't just blow through one person's questline only to have them disappear for the rest of the game. Instead, by spreading things out, you get to catch up on them now and then as time passes in the main story, which keeps things feeling natural.

    The hordes are great. Early on, they're terrifying hazards and, even late game, a force to be reckoned with but, as Deke gets stronger and better equipped, you'll slowly start to turn the tide.

    Whilst nothing Days Gone does is new or done to a level beyond anything that has come before, it does enough things well enough, with enough care and heart , for most of it to be enjoyable and varied.

    The exact ebb and flow of the gameplay loop is down to you, the player, so it's great to do things as and when the mood takes you.

    The main story has a surprising amount of twists and turns, even if it is sometimes uneven in quality. Most of the main npc's have strong, well-defined characters and the overall tone of the world has a good amount of moral ambiguity to it. What people have to do to survive, the decisions they have to make...the game tries to show people with all their imperfections and it's more interesting for it than a lot of what I see in games these days.

    Weapons have a good amount of variety, they definitely feel different and have pros and cons meaning choosing the right ones for the right job requires at least a bit of thought. Upgrading Deke brings noticeable, satisfying and rewarding benefits.

    The bike being your save point is a great idea. On harder difficulty settings, you genuinely feel vulnerable when you stash it somewhere to go explore or scavenge.

    Deke's character takes a bit of getting used to. He's a grumpy, messed up guy, but you can feel he's trying to change as he finally comes to terms with the reality that he's let this bleak world break his spirit - leaving him living a pointless life.

    The way the backstory of Deke is told is well done in terms of the segments but sometimes jarring given that it's often telling you stuff in reverse order, or simply a jumbled up order.

    For example, someone close to Deke says something really cringe worthy at one point. It's bizarre and out of character. 'What a crap bit of script', I thought. However, some time after another flashback, which goes back in time from the previous one, explains why this is. It then made sense and put a smile on my face but that doesn't change the fact that the initial flashback seemed poorly written at the time. It's an odd choice and sometimes it didn't work for me.

    The map is surprisingly big as it expands 3 times from the initial area you start in. I think my playthrough was close to 50 hours. I also appreciated the fact that after the main story is finished, there are 3-4 questlines that have one or two extra bits; to tie up loose ends with some of the npc's you've gotten to know along the way. Plus, there's an extra piece of story if you defeat all the hordes...it really set things up nicely (and ominously) for a sequel so I was very disappointed to hear Sony didn't give it the greenlight.

    Lastly, I'd also like to get the annoyance of some of those initial reviews out my system. Some of them were awful. Judge a game primarily on its gameplay, not the fact you find a white, biker survivalist unsavoury. Jesus.

    One review even said the Freakers all being white was racist, even though the game explains what happens to people's skin after they are infected. I mean, one of the tougher basic enemies are called bleachers. The clues in the name you muppet journos. They're tougher, (and whiter, hence the name 'bleacher'), because they've been infected longer. If you really have to criticise along the lines of identity politics (which you obviously shouldn't, you hacks) at least get your facts straight.

    Anyway, I enjoyed this enough to play through again a year later on Survival+ and may well play through again on PC. I'd give it an 8.5 if the option were available.    … Expand

    Haven't been so entertained by a game for a long time. I wish I had not listened to reviews and played this game much earlier. The story is amazing and the zombies are fun. Nothing helps my sleeping as much as killing a horde of zombies beforehand.

It's a decent zombie experience but there are way better video games out there to enjoy before checking out days gone. I felt i wasted my money on sth that is not bad!     Loved all of it, started playing on ps4 pro, and finished it on ps5. It was a great game for me. Good story, good action, it kept me doing some side missions without making it feel dull. As if it was part of the main story. Just play it

    I will admit, the story was not so captivating as I would have hoped for. The splitting narratives were more chaotic than branching. Though the hoards and stragglers of zombified carcasses, blended with good traversal and exploration made up for it.

    Days Gone is not the goliath among zombie games, but it is a solid addition. In a story narrative about the walking dead, it can be hard to find a footing among the many others that have claimed that title.     - The game crashed on my twice;

    - There sometimes is a very weird/comical mismatch between the dialogue that is spoken, and the body language of the person doing it (e.g. one of the speeches in the game by "a man with a moustache" looked quite surreal....).

    There's some there here, but the game really should have been given another clean-up round. Still, bashing the brains in of the creatures is very enjoyable. And there's a cute puppy in there as well :-)    … Expand

The action changes throughout the three different zones and so do the NPC's you interact with. Upgrading your bike and customizing Deacon with different weapons is interesting. However, I knocked off two points because there is too much buildup to the main objective of the game.

    It has a satisfying conclusion, and you can continue the game even after the main plot ends. Plus with a new game plus and survival modes it adds a lot of replay value. Also, challenges are a welcomed addition. Overall it's a solid 8 out of 10 for me and I enjoyed it.

    I hope Sony reconsiders its stance on a no sequel. If you read this review Sony please make Days Gone 2 it is a satisfying game.    … Expand

    Days Gone is a game that should not be compared to The last of us or other most famous zombie games, if it is true that in its 2019 release it had numerous bugs and bugs but today in 2020 Bend studio has done a good job to fix all these bugs and errors and with the new release on PC with better graphics and an unlimited fps rate it will be incredible to look at

    AI is near to unexisting, marauder can stand near to freak and they will ignore each other, pathetic.

    Game is till today a buggy mess, it is a shame that people doing 10's and 8's to games like that, destroying gamedev each day more and more, supporting lazy and weak products. Fun fact, you should fix all crashes game have, rule. And this game does not crash, it just freezes infinitely, next level in quality gaming.

    Crafting is uncomfortable. Bike upgrades... There are 3 levels of them. 1 lvl give you 10% boots, 2 lvl 10% boost, 3lvl 90000% boost, this is how you understand that the game released in not finished state.
    Generic predictable boring story, every misison, every twist, every decision, every word we saw that million times before TheWalkingDead and we seen that for 10 years in TWD.
    Uninspired copycat created by BBB sony formula, also, you should have bought bugged piece of garbage on release for full price to see sequel, glad there will be none, I dont understand how any soul can enjoy this joke of a game. You want to play it? You want to waste time doing same repetitive 3 types of missions for 70 hours? Im pressing X to doubt that.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Days Gone is best open world zombie game ever made. Way better than Dying Light. I'm extremely happy that it comes to PC as it should, because on PC it can truly shine and playing it will be better in general with keyboard + mouse. It's one of the few ps4 exclusives i actually care about. People who like sony's typical generic story simulators obviously wont understand how good Days Gone really is, but that's fine, because PC players are way more level headed and they will give this game attention it has always deserved.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very fun enjoyable game but i am rating it 4 due to the fact that the dialogue in this game is absolutely horrible. I am not sure who in the world has conversations like the voice actors had to have in this game. It is just terrible. There is pauses in conversations and timed and repetitive stutters that just kill the conversation and make the game less enjoyable. There is also instances where they make weird noises in the middle of a sentence that make no sense! Not only that but some of the dialogue is out of place. One where ricky is holding down boozer to cut off his arm she yells were losing him! When hes obviously screaming and moving around still lol like no we are not losing him. All the other bugs in this game are bearable like wolves racing after you on the bike and then teleport and dismount you. All in all this game has some work to be done to it to make it more immersiv And not feel awkward during conversations… Expand

    Bend Studio made a great game with a rich, believable and captivating story. They’ve also resisted the lure of trends: there’s no multiplayer, no lootboxes, no “game as a service” plans – just a very solid (and finite) singleplayer experience. That makes it a rare gem these days, maybe one of the last of its kind. [Issue#238, p.42]

    At the beginning of the game you’ll feel like you've already played this game... then it will let you go for a while only to return with reinforcements (and lots of bugs). However, Days Gone has a couple of pleasant moments, that can't be denied. [Issue#295]

    I expect and hope for a sequel. Just know that going into this game that there is a lot of tedious nonsense to pad out a really good game to make it feel more worth every dollar, much to its detriment. I want to give this game a better score because the best moments are so good, but the large portion of this game is so bloody tiring that I just can’t.
