is a puzzle game with action elements , tried to extend their gameplay to the fullest by making countless puzzles at each step, a tiring and tedious journey

Darksiders II has a lot going for it. There's an excellent art style, fast-paced combat, loot and RPG elements, massive boss battles, and of course, the Zelda inspired puzzle filled dungeons. If you like Zelda or action RPG's, Darksiders II should be interesting to you at the very least.

The story, one of the weaker aspects of the game, manages to be convoluted and thin. There are some cool characters, but I can't say I particularly cared about what was going on. Lots of, "Complete these tasks and I will tell you who to talk to in order to get further in your quest." Whatever. It's a good thing the other aspects of Darksiders II manages to make up for it.

That would be my basic summary of the game. The good outweighs the bad, and it's fun enough to recommend. Too bad it's a technical mess. What would be a 7 or 8 is now a 5 because I simply don't know if you'll have the patience to stick with it and see it through to its end. I didn't.

Game has several great features and the overall gameplay has not changed much since last, the story is mildly interesting, and the travel system is great which allows you to teleport out and in of dungeons. However, the game is riddled with bugs, which makes the game crash several times. Even had it crash on me at the final boss battle.

Based on what I had heard about the game and what I read from the case, I expected a thrilling action game. What I got was a boring platformer.
You're Death and your quest is to save your brother by solving simple puzzles and climbing walls. Oh, and occasionally you kill enemies.
The game itself boasts about its 30-hours of gameplay, and it's true, but only because it has been designed

You're Death and your quest is to save your brother by solving simple puzzles and climbing walls. Oh, and occasionally you kill enemies.

The game itself boasts about its 30-hours of gameplay, and it's true, but only because it has been designed to slow you down at every moment.
You'll first notice that the overworld is huge. It seems like there's all kind of secrets to find and epic quests to do. After a while you'll realise that there's nothing much in it and you'd rather fast travel everywhere. But alas, even fast travel doesn't work like you'd expect. Instead of taking you to directly to the point you wanted to, it'll take you a little further away, so you'll spend some extra time running to where you wanted to get.

The puzzles are very simple and I didn't really get stuck anywhere, but there's a lot of them. They range from simple climbing to where you need to go to pulling levers and stepping on pressure plates.
After each puzzle you'll feel happy and think "I sure hope there's no more of these boring puzzles" and then some character asks you to find 3 items to proceed.. This happens quite often.

The platforming part of the game kinda feels out of place. There are very specific parts you can grab on and trying to climb anything else is impossible. This is stupid because it means that if there's a platform that you need to climb, it's often possible to climb it from one side only. This means that if you quickly looked around, you probably missed the climbable part and waste time trying to figure out what to do.
Also, even if Death can climb a wall (wall run), he can't grab on the ledge to climb up. Even if he is half his height over it.

INVISIBLE WALLS everywhere to prevent you from climbing where you're not supposed to. Want to use a shortcut to jump down? Too bad since most of the time there's a small fence and Death can't jump on it.

Shopping is useless. All the loot you can buy tends to be worse than what you find from enemies, so there's no need to buy anything other than potions.

Fighting is quite enjoyable, but there's much less of it than there are puzzles. One part of the game was focused on fighting (and you even got a machine gun from an angels corpse!) and that was the best part of the whole game. After that you return to puzzles.

I did expext the Deathinitive version to be as bug free as possible, but there were quite a few of them.
Some times you slightly teleport after a cutscene, sometimes the music and sound effects stop completely and sometimes if you're really lucky, the game crashes after a bossfight.

A high quality game of going through the motions to get to an end point. Despite all my complaints about Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, I appreciated the unique style and setting. Despite all my complaints about Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, I appreciated the unique style and setting. Darksiders 2 only as a portion of that magic. Most of the game is spent wall running and jumping to solve environmental puzzles. The puzzles are brought to a mind-numbing extreme and I longed for more fights so my thumbs had something to do. The fights themselves are stale with the Ninja Gaiden style roll-attack-roll gameplay.

I cannot help but think of God of War III: Remastered. The original God of War III was released 2 years before Darksiders 2 and certainly had the benefit of seeing what God of War III could accomplish. Fighting feels similar in that it is a mix of button mashing and dodging. Except God of War III had more button mashing tricks. The environmental puzzles are also similar, except the environments in God of War III are insane. The environments in Darksiders 2 feel like the same ruins with handy ledges, posts, and vines for vertical traversal. It all feels too familiar and dare I say, too easy.

You can see the intended scope. Some areas are large enough to border on an open world. Some bosses are enormous multi-phase fights. One sequence lets you shoot your way through as hybrid Call of Duty. This is where Darksiders 2 failed. Quanity should never be put before quality. Finishing the game, I had places left to explore and DLC left to start but I did none of it. By the time the the credits rolled, I was sick of this game.

Some of my problem with Darksiders 2 is an acquired lack of patience. There was a time when I would spend hours exploring every pixel of digital world. One time in the game Thief, I stacked boxes to see if I could get out of the map. People still do this and I am sure that someone is overjoyed to have a world like Darksiders 2 to explore. Not me. I see some unique wall feature and know that it is something that open up eventually, when I have unlocked another gadget. I also know that I will never come back to it. Maybe the team making the environments was just so much larger than the team that made interesting encounters.

The story and dialogue of Darksiders 2 is so-so. Characters come and go with little explanation other than to serve as vendors. Ever story point is broken into three lost things that need finding because it means more hallways to explore. By the end, I didn't really care why I was doing any of it and Death himself expresses this feeling "I've come to the end of my journey and I have no idea what I am supposed to do!".

All-in-all, Darkisders 2 is a decent game. I just shouldn't be at the top of your pile.

If you're going to waste the player's time with vast open spaces with nothing to see and repeating cutscenes with nothing to hear you'd want to make sure it's not a glitch that is keeping you from progressing. The camera is broken and holding the lock-on trigger is ridiculous. How does a game this bloated with junk feel so empty? Puzzles are the only positive but they're too few and far between.

Expand

Second issue is the story , personally i found it little odd as we know death ( the main character) try to find a way to save his brother as we know his is innocent but and he face some obstacle in the way but you don't feel that, what you feel an empty story with empty world has no life on it .
I really wish it was little like darksider 1 or 3 which have thier own direction not copy paste from RPG which was the primal in that year . Combat is good and monster level scale also fine.
Death really cool characters but they didn’t write it well .

This game took the RPG element and boosted it compared to Darksiders and that brought me down. Weapons and armor now had a level and if I remember correctly you had to be the correct level to use it. The gameplay got stale a lot quicker for me with this aspect at around 45% into the game.

This is very nearly the exact same single-player excursion from last-gen consoles. There is no local or online co-op. There's no traditional multiplayer. There are no update-exclusive features. It's simply a mildly prettier, equally flawed action title with a few pieces of DLC adding more of the same to an already samey package.

A heated dish, like all remastered games are, with all its interesting condiments now displeasing instead of exciting the patron, but with its main part still being juicy and tasty. A game with a core able to attract all fans of the action-adventure genre, but with many technical flaws. Is such a remaster truly an improvement upon the image of the franchise or beneficial to those who have not yet… tasted it? It is up to you to decide.

The Deathinitive Edition improves very little, but Darksiders II is still a fantastic game definitely worth checking out if you haven’t done so 3 years ago. [13/2015, p.59]
