I picked this title up via the Playstation Network with the game bundle. This was not my first go with the game though; I had played it years ago when it first released. I never finished it back then and I couldn't remember until I started playing it again.

The game is a SLOG OF UNNECESSARY PUZZLES.

With the 1st title, the game had it's fair share of puzzle, but the pacing made up for those moments when you have to figure out just what to do. Sure, those puzzles went from 'simple' to 'this is gonna take a bit of time' but they always felt meaningful.

    Not with Darksiders II.

To be clear, none of the puzzles are hard (on a scale of 1-10 the hardest hovered around a 4), but the ungodly amount of them make playing this game unbearable at times. Every step, every place you go in the game is a puzzle in some way or another. Wanna cross that room? gotta deal with a puzzle. Want to get that door open? Puzzle. Ohh a treasure chest? PUZZLE!!!

The dungeons in this game are at most 20mins each....had not every, single, room be booby trapped with a puzzle. The padding is strong with this game. And if you think this is bad, get ready for the obnoxious backtracking for treasure and collectibles later in the game....and not have a good way to tell you where they are!

Combat can be satisfying....at times, when dealing with minor enemies, but once a "Stronger" version pops up in the mix, the fun ends. Both trees are superfluous as are gear choices. Not once did I feel strong or even up to the task in either tree, nor did special weapons or epic gear make a lick of difference.

The only redeeming factor for the game is the narrative, but that is consumed by all the other shortcomings. I couldn't finish it due to all the issues. In our day and age where I can hop online and read the story and conclusion (and watch it), DSII gets a hard pass. All the reasons I gave up on the title the first time (but not the 1st Darksiders which I enjoyed and finished) flooded back.

I hope THQ Nordic learned something from how this title helped sink the original THQ, but they are moving forward with the 3rd game and if it is ANYTHING with the 2nd, i'm out. Puzzles are fun, nothing but puzzles are not.

Playing through the game for the 2nd time, first time was on PC and just could not stand it. Got it in the monthly PSN games, so I figured this is the complete edition, might as well give it another try and at least finish it for the 3rd one which is to come out. I want to say I loved the first one, characters were interesting, gameplay was fun and diverse from the ground combat, the flying sections, the gauntlet stages it was all a good mix and that's not even touching the weapons. But this is not Darksiders 1, this is it's much more retarded brother that can't do basic things right like camera control, dodge roll or counter higher than fingers on a single hand.

Others have mentioned the issues with the "puzzles" which I don't consider them puzzles as much as chores. Jumping is not a complicated mechanic but when you have to fight with the camera to see where you're going or you jump holding down one direction and Death decides to check for fall damage on the side of a mountain it's a "puzzle" all of on it's own. Combat is garbage, you have mobs that are olympic ice skaters that slide over the ground to hit you, mobs that you can dodge roll away or even behind and still take damage and the summon ghouls which is worthless as they take one hit from any threatening mob and evaporate faster than water in the Australian desert.

It's a good game but I can't play it. Bought it recently on PS store. But just after found out it hardly crashes the console, making it shut down. That's what happen with me. It's a known massive issue. Almost 2 years and still no fix from Sony/THQ.

We got no audio in the game, only on the cutscenes... And about the FPS... just see a YouTube video, and you'll see

Wast my money... The game runs poorly at 30 fps, in some parts with a lot of tearing... I want my money back, very disappointed!

And we haven't any word about to release a patch to fix this sh#®@...

I played it for 20 minutes and got stuck. Well that was a good move by the developers. So far there is no reason why it is necessary to run on walls and roofs apart from 'someone else did it so we'll put it in our crappy game'. You run around kill frozen dudes and get stuck. $3 on Steam for 20 minutes of crappy gameplay. Pros: cheap if you get it on steam, would never bother with microsoft or sony systems. They'll rip you off.

Cons: Needs both a highly descript walkthough just to play. Probably needs a controller. Boring, Linear, Poor controls, bland console port.

Get it cheap on sale. The view and poor help in the game pretty much killed it for me. I don't know how they manage to attract new players to this game seriously as there isn't anything about it that really distinguishes it.

    My rating.

    Meh/10.

So I bought this game because I thought: "Hey, god of war with rpg elements. great". But I needed a long time to get "hooked" because the world looks so damn static and you simply don't care about the story. The characters with their scottish accent look so dull. It feels like playing an empty mmo.

So I played for about 12 hours and then **** happened: A game breaking bug. I did reset

ARE YOU F*CKIN SERIOUS THQ??? This is a remaster, so your second shot at this one. The bug was well known in the community and there is no fix for it? Come on. I went to gamestop to trade this piece of trash in on the same day. Things like that really grind my gears. You buy a broken game, the developer knows the issue but has no intentions in fixing it.

Worst blind buy I have ever bought. The graphics and game play of this game is so prev gen. I can't believe I have even bought this game. I will try to trade this game asap so that I will no longer see it.

After so many years, so many reports to developers, THE GAME STILL CRASHES. This is not a game that should be allowed in PS4. A game crashing? Are you serious?

If they resolved the problem after seeing so many opinions and players reviews.mm But, nope, the developers didn't care about the players. That's why I evaluate with 0!

This is very nearly the exact same single-player excursion from last-gen consoles. There is no local or online co-op. There's no traditional multiplayer. There are no update-exclusive features. It's simply a mildly prettier, equally flawed action title with a few pieces of DLC adding more of the same to an already samey package.

A heated dish, like all remastered games are, with all its interesting condiments now displeasing instead of exciting the patron, but with its main part still being juicy and tasty. A game with a core able to attract all fans of the action-adventure genre, but with many technical flaws. Is such a remaster truly an improvement upon the image of the franchise or beneficial to those who have not yet… tasted it? It is up to you to decide.

The Deathinitive Edition improves very little, but Darksiders II is still a fantastic game definitely worth checking out if you haven’t done so 3 years ago. [13/2015, p.59]
