Parabéns a Remedy! Expand

Every time u pause the game and resume it starts to glitch and its very annoying and also when there is many enemies or action.
    - The quality and the graphic is good but sometimes for some reason it become a ps2 quality. The game allow you to break and destroy many things around you but not the stupid lightness that **** ur eyes i really hate that.
    - The map. The most annoying thing in the game maybe im a retard and if i am, surely theres many like me that spend more time searching for the place of the quest than accually playing it The map dosnt show you anything not even the level you are in and in this type of desgin you really need it. - the difficulty is also a big problem there is no chosing every gets the same difficulty And sometimes the game become very hard in a very stupid way. And when that happend you will die alot and the checkpoint system doesnt help it one bit. If you played it you will understand me If you didnt trust me you will get very pissed from me like i did. - the story didnt intrest me i had a felling its **** but idk maybe its ok.
    - the game reminds me of infamous very much maybe the game didnt make it to be like infamous but the gameplay in it sure does.
Its really good and the best thing in the game The abilities you get through the story and the quests keep you intrested in it become nothing else does. So there is no boring in combat. its very enjoyable.
So Control is a good game truly ngl but the negatives in it makes u think of deleting the game at least one time in 1hr.
Thats why i am giving its a 6 and i hated it.
The sad thing is those problems can be fixed with a patch or something and idk why they didnt fix it.

The first hours were intriguing even if the storytelling was very slow. After completing three areas of the game I gave up. Combat system is very tremendous for a game made in 2019. A third-person shooter without a cover system does not have sense. IA is good but the fight balance is very bad. Some boss fight were almost impossible but they did not give you a sense of accomplisment when you win the fight. Spawn of enemies is too much larger and the power of the main protagonist cannot help you so much during the fights. You will always use the standard gun, since all the others aren't effective.
Talking about graphics, the game is stunning but on my PC (Intel i7 9700K, 32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz ram, SSD M.2 and Geforce RTX 2060 Super, the loading of texture is very poor. To use ray tracing I have to lower graphical details. So much frustating.

Control is completely & utterly unlike anything I have ever played before, yes I've played 3rd person action/adventure games & yes I've played some thrillers. But Control stands out with its striking visuals, an interesting story & that overall lucid feeling that the game makes you feel, like you don't really know what is going on.

I played this on a PS4 Pro on a 1080p television but it's stylistic art design makes it a joy to marvel at on any device & yes it had a few issues where it would momentarily freeze and stutter after pausing & sometimes textures would take a while to load upon first boot up. But I can look over these moments, as they weren't all that frequent.

    My 2 down points are:

Save points, considering that the gameplay was very challenging I was surprised when I was sometimes then forced way, way back to a checkpoint from 30 minutes ago.. yes it only respawns a small amount of enemies but still, I feel that checkpoints may have been a good option.. however, I do appreciate that the 'souls-like' formula does present an appropriate challenge.

my other issue is small & shouldnt really be mentioned in a review.. but the game is beautiful, as I've mentioned earlier its stylistic art style makes you constantly tap that share button for a screenshot.. but the Photo Mode is something to be desired, it's there and has very basic features but after playing games like Uncharted, horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-man etc. it's hard to go back to such a basic photo mode.

Overall I'd say if you're looking for a game like no other & like exploration, this is a very perfect match for you.

    cons:
the pacing of the game is just horrible

the amount of fetch quests that also includes the main story missions is just absurd every time you reach a new thing in the story they cut you out of it and make you go to the other side of the map so you can unlock the next main mission which is really tedious

the amount of performance issues such as bugs frame rate issues is just to much even making me take a break from the game just because i could not handle the frame drops

the main story mission is written poorly and overshadows the cool concept of the creepy hunted house

you fight the same boring looking enemies the whole game even most of the main mission bosses are horrible to look at

if you want to get the cool content and the good looking bosses you gotta do side quests and search for them which is okay if your main mission bosses aren't boring af

the main character is just ugly also there is still a bug in the game where she talks and her lower jaw just snaps to the left it is funny but still really ruins the moment

    the ending is meh

the navigation map is awfully designed i was sometimes stuck 10 to 20 min searching for the place i have to get to just because the map is so hard to read

the whole monologuing thing while talking to someone does sound cool on paper but the execution is poorly and weirdly done by the devs

    pros:

the game play is the best part of this game the telekinesis powers and the gun play is the most enjoyable thing in this game

the whole hunted house concept is really cool and i really loved it although it was over shadowed by the main story there are missions where the concept really shines i think the best example is the head phone mission where the whole area completely changes i can gladly say that that mission is hands down the best part of the game

the side missions are the best part of the game having the coolest areas and bosses if you play this game you gotta do the side missions

in conclusion this whole game sounds so good on paper but the way it is made isn't what i expected there are cool moments in it but most of the time i was either bored annoyed by the fetch quests or just searching where to go because of the annoying map which bring me to my final score a 6 out of 10 i just wish the second game will be better than this one

After all I want to give this game a much deserved 8/10 with some goodwill considering I had lots of fun with it.

I do not want to spoil much about the world or plot but if you like supernatural stories, dense atmosphere and some horror aspects then you will be up for an insanely good trip. The sould mechanics are outstanding. The visuals are great with some flaws on consoles, e.g. some AA flickering and some not so well done facial renderings. Still most of Control is real gorgeous to look at. The game mechanics itself are good. It is a game where you dont need to get all abilities to survive and you dont need all the buttons of your controller plus fingers clawed to get stuff going. Mostly it is very simple and the controls do what they should. Still the game provides a decent variety of skills and combination to use making your playstyle decide where you wanna go. Same goes to the different weapon modes that you can unlock and tune. To be fair I mostly used one type but swapped a bit around. I did not care about mods or crafting too much and did well enough to complete all of Control.

The flaws of the engine are truly a downsight to what could ve been a really really good game. Loading times after death are bad even with SSD. Fast travel time are somewhat smoother but still take a while considering a PS4 Pro with SSD inside. There are still some stutters and lags. Most of them to not matter too much, e.g. there is a always a small lag after you get out of menu. It does not impact gameplay but it is a stain on this game. On some enemy dense territories with skill overload on the screen you can have small stutters. I never died to that but it is still sad. I had two bluescreens on my completionist playthorugh on latest patch to date. I can only speculate over the base PS4 performance which was considered horrible before patching and I m not sure I would recommend this game if you are on a base PS4.

Still Remedy did a great job in presentating Control and a world that really sucks you in, immerses you. I had plenty of fun, I was creeped out to the point that I turned lights on or toned the music down. It was cool and intense. I loved the ideas and it had a SCP like feeling for those who know it. The game gets somewhat repetitive over time and some optional missions are tiresome due to the somewhat random enemy spawns.

Control made me consider even buying the DLCs which is not too common for my playstyle but as I said, the immersive supernatural world is really enjoyable to me. Get the game at a decent sale and you should be good to go.

But the boss fights are enough to give you an aneurysm. They take what enjoyment you have of the game, and just throw it in the trash. They are difficult, but don't misunderstand me, that is a good thing. You want difficult bosses, otherwise the game will have no challenge. That isn't the issue. The issue is that every time you die, you have to wait nearly a minute for the loading screen, then you have to traverse another minute or two from the check point (sometimes more if the game decides to randomly spawn cookie cutter mobs between you and the boss), then you have to listen to the npc whimper about not wanting to die, then you have to wait for him to die, then you have to wait for the doors to open, then you have to go through the doors and wait for a cut scene, then you have to listen to your character say "Oh my god, what is that!" while the boss spends 30 seconds "appearing" and is completely invincible during that time, then finally you can fight the boss. Sometimes, the boss one shots you, or a hole opens up under your feet with no warning. Insta kills are frequent during boss fights. Well, when that happens, you have to spend another 5 - 10 minutes going through all that crap just to get to the boss fight. The amount of times I had to listen to the npc whimper about not wanting to die, I found myself hoping he would just die so I could fight the boss. Frankly, when a game makes you wish your allies would hurry up and die, that is a massive failure for story telling.

What I found about this game is that the boss fights were simply not enjoyable and not rewarding like in other games. You can definitely beat them by trying enough times, but the cheap one hit deaths you suffered, and all of the wasted time going through pointless cut scenes and running around before you can fight the boss again makes your victory in the end feel like a Pyrrhic victory. Sure, you won, but you also spent 90% of the past few hours running from point A to point B and heard the same lines of dialogue so many times that you find yourself wishing there literally was 0 dialogue. It is not like in dark souls where getting to the boss wastes way less of your time and most of that time is spent having fun, not running around like you're in a walking simulator.

This game would be 1000 times better and less frustrating if they had a check point outside the boss fight so that the already unbearable loading times weren't made worse by filler crap like cut scenes and pointless dialogue, especially since the bosses are rightfully challenging. They know you're gonna die a bunch of times, so why waste your damn time with dialogue, cut scenes, and pointless travel? 3 out of 10. Would be at least 8 if they put checkpoints closer to the bosses, and let you skip the repetitive cut scenes so you can actually play the game.

The main Character's (jessie) abilities develop throughput the game in a great combination of mechanics and true advantages that feel so especial in that world, you want to use them all the time. In the end this is a game that stays with you once you turn it off. Definitely worth a higher score than what it has here. I guess many people want more action or more of a multitude of things. But this is a balance of game play, story & combat, . and for me it balances perfectly.
The down sides are maybe a bit too much of her internal dialogues, and the complex and always cumbersome personal and weapons mods. And it is true, it does glitch a bit but nothing that is bothering and worth it of it is the price for all the details I each room.
In the end I give it a 9,5 but will give it a 10 here to raise the score.

My other favourite games are Last of Us, Inside, Legend of Zelda BOTW, Horizon Zero Dawn, & Celeste.

Hard bosses in side missions and endless grinding of ability points for "Master Parautilitarian" adds nothing to the story and made only to spend your time grinding for platinum. Without end grind game would be probably 9! If you buy game just to pass story it would be great experience.

Control is the combination of story-driven writing, profound and creative controls and abilities, and suspense that keeps you always up on your feet. I can argue that the game wasn't all so stable during my play-through, but the game always makes up for those mistakes with with groundbreaking visuals and eerie atmosphere.

Jesse Faden, while not the most empathic character or most likable, manages to add more tension to the story than most of the characters. On the contrary, each character actually seems to show a personality that can add to the feeling that the world is very much lively when the entire world is just in one location. Another thing I love about the game is its groundbreaking visuals and thoughts. The ever-so shapeshifting location of the Oldest House and the corrupted properties of the Hiss can make you ever so much ponder of the world and how to traverse it. With collectables that you may want to read, this game is near perfect in how it looks and feels in my opinion.

The next thing I like about Control is its combat. While the variety of your enemies does leaves us wanting more and most of the boss fights seemingly too easy, the difficulty cap in this game can vary and sometimes can leave you raging as you try to figure out what is your next move and what can you do better in the fight while you wait for the game to load back to the previous checkpoint. Throughout the game, you can unlock many abilities that can help you fight your opponents in the many different and creative ways you can. I personally like to fly and throw anything I can get onto my enemies' faces. If that doesn't work well, I could just switch to the defensive side, protect myself with my shield, and use the Service Weapon as my tool to getting damage off my enemies and grab the health they drop. Speaking of the SW, this thing is a blast to use and with the 5 forms that it can possess, it allows for many more forms of fighting to become plausible. However, because of how long this game is and fast you get your abilities and weapon forms, around the last 4 hours of the game can get predictable and probably, stale.

Finally, the story here in Control is overall brooding and powerful. The characters help the story to also retain some kind of feeling, even if our main character, Jesse, is often talking to herself all the time just to say a few sentences and do one thing. The Hiss incorporates into the story in a big way but is often lacking, resulting in some of the story to lack some value in it. The Hiss is also not that formidable or scary, or basically, memorable of being antagonists but manages to be creepy and chilling in any moment of the game and the addition of Jesse's brother to represent them allows them to appear even more eerie and "spooky".

Control is definitely WAY better than the developer's previous game, Quantum Break, and even I thought that was a pretty good game. With breathtaking visuals, great combat, and an eerie atmosphere and story, Control manages to bring the unthinkable and the impossible into life and in one of the best ways the video game industry is able to provide, now becoming one of, if not, my most favorite games of all time.

Just the first hours of this game blew me away. The visual style, the combat mechanics, the upgrade system and the characters just seem so interesting and connect very well. Courtney Hope's performance as Jesse has been great so far, even with the internal dialogue being a little overused, the Janitor is even more interesting (and funny). There's a great incentive for exploration and it's rewarding that we can find boxes with upgrade materials like Jedi Fallen Order. The environment is one of the best parts too, acting like that Doctor Strange scene where everything is upside down, added to the fact that it's very destructible, only thing that I wish I could do is climb walls or something like that. The combat makes a good balance between run n' gun and dodge/cover play-style, and since you have both the gun and your own innate abilities there will always be a variety of attacks you can do. The weapon modding is satisfying, it gives you 4 types of weapon fire rate plus upgrades and the personal modding utility is a nice addition as well. On the other side of the battle, the enemies are increasingly difficult and the variation is enough to keep testing your abilities. The puzzle parts of this game I didn’t expect, and so far I’ve had a hard time doing them but I like the dynamic - challenge that this creates. Last thing I wanted to talk about is cinematic and cut-scenes, Matthew Porretta, my man, you did one hell of a job. I’d usually skip through this parts but every one of them I have watched and seeing you were Game Awards Best Performance Nominee brings a smile to my face cause it’s well deserved. Props to James McCaffrey as well.

The downsides for me have been: for one performance, I have a PS4 (not Pro) and there's been times were graphics will stutter, mostly in heavy action combat. The map design could use a scroll feature or something since I can't explore it efficiently at times. The save system is alright but I wish it could autosave more efficiently, I don’t appreciate having to do a combat 3 times because I died to a boss that happened 10 minutes after I did that combat.

Overall this game gives me insane inFamous vibes, which is one of my favorites from the PS3 (Second Son didn't do justice to it). I can't wait to complete the game and both DLC's since I bought the Deluxe Edition. Great job Remedy!

I would also like to point out that even though I'm giving this game a great review that others like my cousin would not be so generous. He had problems with the no difficulty setting and didn't even make it halfway through the game. He also didn't like the checkpoints were so far from where he died. I do feel like they should have remedied the situation for other types of players as it would have attracted a much broader audience. If you like intense combat that always keeps you guessing then I recommend this game completely. Expand

Graphics are great, everything looks polished and beautiful, the attention to detail is superb. Only downside is after I press pause and want to continue playing the game again it freezes for a couple of seconds but doesn't crash, and there are some minor framedrops, but considering how vast the world is I'm ok with it.

Sound is spot on, the characters are very well played, the ambient sounds makes it feel alive, voices are good, nothing bad to say about them.

All in all I'm very satisfied with the game, I'm hoping for a part 2 for the ps5! Please make it happen!

Why 6? a truly terrible level design leading to you getting lost/uncertain about objectives every 10-15 minutes due to repetitive areas, and a convoluted, obtuse story that tries to appear overly intricate and deep, but simply appears as frustrating to get into as the game makes absolutely no effort to entice you in its lore.

furthermore, despite occasional moments of suspense and horror, the overall effectiveness of these moments when they arise is muted due to the way the game is set out: you walk into a new area, you can already see a red mist indicating combat is about to happen, and around you, you will already see highlighted items that you can interact with (think items to use force pull/push) - all this before you activate a brief cutscene to trigger a boss fight or battle with various enemies.
    IMO not worth it.

While the whole concept might have been amazing, the design is very poor. I found the graphics bothering at best, either way too dark or too bright, very rough (has nothing to do with my HDR settings), LOTS of frame rate drops. Enemy design is generic at best, almost like fighting silhouettes in high contrast background.

Action/Game-play looks promising but after a while it's very disappointing. Very linear, feels like playing the first Max Payne while throwing stuff. Come on Remedy, it's not year 2000 anymore. Besides running around and some random shooting/throwing stuff, you don't do much else. After an hour or so, it gets pretty boring.

    Wouldn't recommend.

    - The campaign was short but it didn't really feel like it. I did complete a bunch of extra content outside the main story of course but even so the game had a nice, respectable run time that boasted a constant attention grabbing campaign by using a focus on intrigue and fun gameplay. Without giving any spoilers, the ending is abrupt and what would be the final boss encounter kind of ended on a low note due to it essentially not having a final boss. It more of just a rush of enemies leading up to a narrative batch of cutscenes. The game's story also ends pretty opened ended as to allow either a sequel or to just end the series right there. If there is a sequel I will definitely jump into it.

    - Now let's jump into the extra content. This game has lots and lots of collectibles and honestly they aren't at all a chore to collect. There are tons of different indexes, black ops mission details, altered world event reports, and various video media to collect in the world that all add to the wonderful intrigue that is Control's lore. There are also optional hidden bosses that are scattered throughout the FBC that are fun to track down and eliminate. They are not crucial to the story but they do continue to add layers to the World's lore. I highly recommend you track them down and give them a go because I had a lot of fun tackling these extra baddies and I'm sure you will too.

Finally The Completion Details. By the end of my playthrough I acquired all Main missions completed, all side missions, all ability upgrades, all Hidden Bosses defeated, all outfits including the special PlayStation DLC Astral Dive Suit, and of course all trophies. The game took roughly 10 hours to complete the main story and 25 hours if you want to grab all the trophies. My playthrough ended short of just one more weapon upgrade and about 50 more indexes to find before achieving 100% completion, but I had difficulty using online guides for said collectibles due to the horrendous in game map as discussed earlier. Difficulty for this game is going to land at a medium. Final Review: B

Whether it be the Horror Fiction landscape come to life through the mind of a potentially crazed writer in “Alan Wake”, the staggering complications of what would happen if time travel really was harnessed in “Quantum Break”, or even the meta narrative on society and narcissism in the original “Max Payne” games, Remedy has always strived to explore the unexplainable.

The thing that most impressively differentiates "Control" from Remedy’s other work, and the work of other 3rd-person action games as a whole, is that "Control" is incredibly effective at conveying the atmosphere it set out to create. I think it speaks volumes to the fact that this is Remedy’s first run at publishing a game on a smaller budget in favor of creative freedom because "Control" has a world and lore that so detailed, I feel like I spent half of my time playing just reading the case files and other hidden collectibles scattered around the crumbling and corrupted FBC. Plus, I actually enjoyed it!! Usually, when games go out of there way to world build and provide the player with more information, it gets shuffled into a forgotten codex or a clunky journal interface but "Control" puts so much importance, so much weight, on discovering the mystery of "The Hiss", the corrupting force that has turned the FBC from well oiled government machine into nightmarish hellscape with cool art deco, that I actually felt like reading the backstory directly influenced what Jesse would need to do to solve all of these out of this world mysteries.

So much of "Control" is intentional, so much of it exists just to tell the story of Jesse Faden's journey to find her brother, but when the game departs from this level of focus, it can feel a little jarring. I found that the randomly generated side-content that permeated the mid-game part of my time in the FBC started to feel a little too mundane. It certainly fits the world that small tasks like saving some trapped workers or eradicating The Hiss from a specific part of the FBC are necessary, but as the narrative went along and Jesse became more competent in her role a Director, these tasks felt a like a hell of a lot of busywork for the person who's supposed to be saving the whole world from collapsing into an unknown multi-universal apocalypse.

The architecture of the FBC, the soundtrack, and even the design of the bathrooms all fit together to make an aesthetic masterpiece that you can run around in. The only issue is trying to run around at a consistent framerate. I played Control on a launch model PS4 so I can’t really be one to judge and I KNOW that the launch model PS4 is really the only iteration of either console (PS4 or Xbox One) that has such consistent performance issues. Unfortunately, I can’t really review a game on another system then the one I have and it’s so laggy at times that it became unplayable. I still beat it in less then a month (and later went back to 100% it as well) but there were definitely times where my game session ended early just because the PS4 couldn't keep going. It’s not a huge deal, but it breaks immersion and it’s hard to ignore, and while it might be better on 95% of everyone else’s newer systems, if you're gonna play it on a launch model PS4, it’s gonna be a little rough.

The writing is definitely the strongest in Remedy’s catalogue and has the most character and quirkiness as well. It’s a weird game with a wacky sense of humor that feels like it was ripped right out of an episode of "Twin Peaks", or "Stranger Things". This weirdness plays to the games strengths perfectly and kept me interested in the story no matter how many times I kept getting killed by the same flying hiss monster.

The combat is great too, though it does take some getting used to. Once you get the moves down and start to unlock powers, the flow really ramps up and, as long as you keep Jesse moving, it often feels like you're a true force to be feared, a freight train of power that can barrel through just about anything. The only weakness that the combat has is that there are some obviously OP powers and weapon configurations that stand out. For me it was levitation and the charge weapon configuration. If I wasn’t shooting rockets and flinging concrete at every enemy in sight then I was obviously doing something very wrong. While these powers were great, I could tell that I was having too easy of a time.

Ultimately, "Control" is a high point for what Remedy can accomplish.

Of course it is a subjective opinion, but I did not get this game at all on my PS4.
    Depressing atmosphere, irritating ambient sounds.
Absolutely ridiculous save system, if you die, then you need to replay way to much. Soapy graphics, way too superficial storyline in the beginning. This game is absolutely not something you would enjoy Friday evening. Loved Max Payne from Remedy though.

I don't leave a lot of reviews, and I'm a bit of an older gamer (40s), so keep that in mind. I've played a ton of games over the years, and I almost always buy the big budget games despite whatever reviews, etc. This game caught my eye as I hadn't heard a word about it, but it was on a ton of "best of" 2019 year end lists. This is the best game I've played in well over a decade, and it might be my favorite game of all time. The story is the key, and the way it is presented (and how it works its way into how the game is played) is nothing short of masterful. I'm not even kidding when I say that the story is so good it kinda haunted my dreams. I'm not usually a third-person game guy, but it really works well in Control. No problems with the camera, etc. and when I got wiped out, I always felt that it was because of some flaw in how I was playing the game, not the game punishing me unfairly.

I can't say enough good things about this game. I want more people to play it so that they make enough money to make a sequel. This is expert game-making at its pinnacle. The story will completely bend your mind (if you're paying attention). Play this game if you want to tear into a game like you would a book; this is not the kind of game (in my opinion) that you just want to "get through." Play it with headphones on if you can, and I think you will find, as I did, that you can really only play for an hour or two at a time before you need to put it down and think about what you just experienced. Read the through the in-game lore and remember it. It all ties together in a pretty kick-ass way.

Love, love, love this game. My other favorites are the Bioshock and Fallout series, so maybe that will give you some insight into my preferences. This game is just... it's really freaking good. Can't recommend it enough if you are a patient, story-driven kind of gamer.

    The good:

Smashing things up, using telepathy and running-and-gunning are mega fun. Despite this being incredibly repetitive and there not being much diversity in the enemies it can be fun to alternate between throwing slabs of concrete at soldiers or running up close with a shotgun-like blast. The atmosphere is great at first but the darkness and clinical environments soon make it tiresome.

    The bad:

The map - it's almost useless. On my PS4 Pro it is minute and doesn't give specific directions. I can be told to 'meet Emily' without them saying where Emily is, only for me to find she's in the room right next door after I've wandered around half the available map.

The difficulty - quite a few people have remarked on this, and for me where it went wrong is that the difficulty lies with the health bar. You can have 20 guys in a row shooting at you and not take a hit, only to walk blindly into an enemy who kills you in one shot, leading to a loss of credit, a long load time and probably a long journey back to where you are - this I found maddening.

The layout - your environment is cold, dark, confusing and meandering. The map could have resolved much of this but they really screwed that up. Things are far too hard to find and much of the traversal relies on guesswork.

The story - some love it, some don't. I don't. The characters talk actual gibberish far too much, the story lacks coherency and it even lacks a compelling element. The Janitor character at the start was annoying as hell - just tell me what's up and let's move on!

Overall, games like Deus Ex managed almost everything this game does only so much better. This is not worthy of £20+. I wasted a few hours of my life on this. Don't make the same mistake.

I love the aesthetic contrast between bureaucratic offices and supernatural beings, and the red, oily look stands out as a highlight.

The story is a little weak in parts, the ending in particular, but it's still one that you can engage with and I was eager to see how it ended. Some of the bosses and areas - particularly the optional ones - were inspired and fresh, with the constant shifting between reality and the planes continually mixing things up.

My main criticisms are that it can get a bit grindy, especially if you're trying to grab all the trophies. The mods are a bit redundant at times and the constant discarding of useless ones gets old quite quickly. I found myself sticking with the original gun loudout throughout the entire game - I never really had to use any other.

But, in conclusion, this is a fantastic title, one that I wish had been marketed a little better to hit the masses. Worth at least a play through of the story, and an enjoyable one to 100%.

Control is a 12 hour long 3rd person sci-fi shooter set in a bit of an open world... or I should say building… more specifically the FBC’s paranormal headquarters...it all connects in an addictive metroidvania style… of more doors and areas becoming accessible as you complete story and optional missions. Here you play as Jesse Faden, who sets out to find out what happened to her brother in this facility... and would you know... you have some super natural gifts of your own…
The gameplay loop is the same from start to finish, you’re given a task... and area in the building to explore, and along your way you’ll sometimes feel an urge to venture of and explore, which can lead to you finding materials, or even optional missions that will help you become more powerful, give you more upgrade points, or even additional abilities, but you’ll do just fine sticking to the main story as well, increasingly making the gameplay here more addictive and crazy, throwing items, dashing, levitating, just to name a few.. Taking on enemies that can do almost the same... you’ll have to clear these enemies most of the time to unlock spawn points, which is also where you spend the enemy dropped currency and materials on upgrading your character, becoming more powerful… the combat though Is my biggest gripe with control… This game had the potential of being a really amazing game, in fact its won multiple game of the year titles for 2019, but the little issues with combat and performance is what sours control most for me… For starters... performance wise, the game stutters like crazy any time you pause and unpause the game.. and secondly in a Game so crazy and hectic at all times, it’s really hard to have a sense of enemy direction, a lot of the time... especially towards the end with more powerful enemies, you’ll just be hit and dead with no warning, you’ll get smacked with heat seeking missiles, shot in the back.. And you have no opportunity to fairly dodge or counter attack, which bring me to my next announce... dodging being tied to your super natural energy… this just becomes annoying… due to the nature of the game, dodging is a mechanic I feel should be a given to the player.. Not a drainer... you’ll be in fights, again unfairly getting smacked with these heat seeking missiles out of nowhere,, that you’ll need to quickly dash to health enemies drop all the way across the room, but good luck if you’ve been range attacking with your toss power, and you most likely will thanks to again the dash ability draining your energy. It makes you not want to use it, and when you need to use it, again it’s because of need to quickly move in the area because of a grenade or to grab health, but once again the vicious circle smacks you of you can’t because you’ve been range attacking with your throw ability, you see? This is an endless circle of one mechanic decision breaking all of the other mechanics, not making the game as fun as it could be, or bringing your gameplay vision to life... this game wants you moving around, throwing, dashing, shooting, hitting enemies with a nice forearm strike… but this one small decision forces ranged combat, and the games vision again just crumbles in front of you… that’s not to say control isn’t still fun, it’s a blast, it’s one more try addictive and challenging… despite its flaws I loved Control from start to finish… but control 2… I’m just saying... Focus on the balance of the crazy fun mechanics, give more opportunity to dodge seemingly unfair and over powered attacks and enemies… and this series has potential to be masterpiece level... where it stands now... Control is still a great game definitely worth your time...

Very annoying not knowing where multiple rockets are constantly bombarding you from. And while the effects, lighting and art are excellent, especially the physics, the game picture wise looks like poop on a Pro on a 4K tv. You can really tell the developer only put time into the PC version and neglected the consoles. Frame rate stays consistent for the most part, but 1080p/30 is unacceptable for a "premium" console. Combat was great for me. More difficult enemies appear as you go, and I think they set up the hardest content as the side mission bosses, which means you can skip the biggest challenges if you wanted to. That said, those are some really interesting fights, and it would be a shame to miss them. You can come back to them at any point with new abilities, weapon forms and mods to help.

I don’t want to use the word masterpiece lightly, but what else do you call the combination of gleefully chaotic gameplay with earnest storytelling in a setting as refreshingly unique as Bioshock? What else do you call a combat system that goes so far beyond the simple act of shooting a gun without drilling down into a set of intricate menus and complicated controls? What else do you call darkly malevolent horror that doesn’t feel like it was cribbed from someplace else? What else do you call the crowning achievement of a studio with a unique voice, an uneven track record, and 25 years of experience? If there’s a better word to describe what Remedy has achieved with Control, I can’t think of it.
