While this is not the worst game in the series (cough infinite warfare cough) it is in my opinion the worst boots on the ground experience we've been given so far.

    Campaign -
While i know most play call of duty for the multiplayer, i still love playing the campaigns as well. The one were given here in WW2 has to be one of the worst in the franchise. Characters who i cant remember with the exception of Daniels because everyone was screaming his name every 2 seconds, clipping that can be spotted easily with one example being in the opening scene and vehicle physics that are plain awful. The first level was so much fun but it all just fell apart after that. If your buying just for the campaign, pass on this one.

    Multiplayer -
Here is where the game should really shine but it just doesn't. We all know what a disaster the launch was so i'm just going to skip over that. The game comes standard with 9 maps and to be honest i only kinda like 2 or 3 of them. Theres no map that comes up in the rotation that i get excited to play on. The spawns are AWFUL and i seem to always be put right infront of someone who ends up shooting me in the back. The guns need some serious work as everyone is just running around with the STG, Bar, PPSH and kar. The new mode war is pretty fun until you realize there are only 3 maps to play on with it and the new headquarters is ripped straight from destiny and feels pointless. I dont play zombies so i cant personally speak on that but from what im hearing its not to great either.

I hope one day i'll be able to love a call of duty game again but this most definitely is not the one.

My final rating of Call Of Duty: WW2 is a 5/10

Could go on about things I dislike, even if the new map packs take it to the next level, you're still going to have to wait, and pay (which is fine). Before I list the pros and cons I want to say that this review is not based on me being bitter or being a "hater" or any of that crap. I got my kill/death ratio to around 2.6 so I'm a lot better than the average player. This is an honest review.

    Pros:

▪Not a bad campaign but not great either.
▪Graphics are good in the campaign and average in multi-player.
▪Footsteps are easily heard unlike MW Remastered.
    ▪ I personally like the new HQ instead of just sitting looking at a lobby screen. Pretty cool how you can look around and interact with different things.

    Cons:
▪Team balancing is horrendously poor. I played around 100 games and was on the team full of clueless morons about 75% of the time. A lot of games were not close at all, too one-sided.
▪The game lags quite often and has caused me multiple deaths (Not my connection as every other multi-player game is fine).
▪There is something massively wrong in multi-player. In many 1 v 1 gunfights where on my screen we (Me and an opponent) see eachother at the same time and I shoot first, get about 10 bullets into my opponent and he picks his **** gun up whilst being shot and drops me in 2 bullets. I watch the killcam and somehow he was already shooting me before I even lifted my gun up?? He had taken no damage either WTF??! Absolute joke.
▪Loot crates should not be in any game ever unless the game was free maybe. People already paid £50+ for the game and these greedy developers aren't satisfied and want more money for doing nothing basically.
▪Perk system/Division is just stupid in my opinion as it restricts you. If you don't want to show up on the enemy UAV then you have to use the Mountain division. You may also want to resupply from dead enemies.. Nope! Sorry, you can't have both as resupplying is in another division. So dumb. Should have just had normal perks as usual.
▪The maps are absolute garbage except 3. The other 6 are just painful to play. The inept developers had very little imagination when designing them. Only 9 **** maps in the base game is absolutely pathetic as well. The war game mode has its own 2-3 unique maps but that gamemode is pretty poor anyway.
▪They are copying off Battlefield with the Bayonet charge, War mode etc.
▪Gameplay is too fast paced.. everyone runs around like they are **** Olympic athletes on steroids. Why can't the game just be a bit slower paced??
▪Guns have basically no recoil making it very easy for terrible scrubs to shoot you from 40 yards with an SMG, laughable.
▪No-scoping and quick-scoping is too easy. Something else that caters to the 10 year olds who think they are pros, Jesus Christ.
▪You die a bit too quickly. Well.. I do at least. On my screen I am killed instantly but when I shoot enemies it sometimes takes 15 bullets and that's without missing.
▪The community is absolutely cancerous. Sitting in windows or behind objects head-glitching, sitting in corners, drop-shotting etc etc. This is not the developers fault obviously but it is another reason not to buy this trash.

I could be on all day with the cons so I will just end it there. I give it a 2/10. Just absolutely terrible. The amount of **** which happens in multi-player is just mind-boggling. I almost smashed my controller on 10 seperate occasions. It's depressing thinking how great CoD used to be. WaW, BO1 were just brilliant. This **** doesn't come close to either. This is 100% the last CoD I ever, ever purchase. Deleted the game. Good **** riddance.

I don't understand all the hate here. Yes, the servers were bad at launch but oh well. Call of Duty is finally back to its roots with World War 2 and boots on the ground. The single player is great and worth a try. The multiplayer is pretty good and so is the zombies.

I would give this game at least a 9 if the story was the only feature, but its not. Sledgehammer took zombies in somewhat different direction that promotes horror and gore rather than the goofy style of Infinite Warfare, it's a rather detailed and immersive zombies experience. Now the important topic, multiplayer. Multiplayer is your standard boots on the ground game play, it has an new create-a-class system called divisions. The division style is much like Battlefield but it allows more customization, by that I mean you can run the machine gunner division with a shotgun and it would still work fine. I really enjoyed the multiplayer but as of Thanksgiving 2017 my game is broken, not the disc I mean the game itself. Many people such as myself have experienced the game-breaking bugs known as error code 1, 3, and 5. The bug downloads a quick playlist update then automatically fails returning you to the start screen, then when you try to join multiplayer (or any other online function) it re-downloads and errors again sending you into an infinite loop. Many of us paid $60-120 on this game just to not play it. That is not the only multiplayer bug, there have been many reports of black-screening, server kicks, and overall complications revolving around the servers. Would be a great game if myself and many others could play it. Expand

Campaign player here. I felt like all the cool stories happened with World at War, and then they had to try and come up with other things that just weren't as interesting; too short. Also.. you play as a girl trying to deliver a briefcase for a level. The graphics were really nice though.

It has surfaced that rather than matchmaking, the netcode guys would rather "inject" random lag across all players. Over time, this shouldn't affect your K/D, but it is just wrong on so many levels. The objective is to give one player a lag advantage along with an emotional/mental high to keep coming back when they have a match go 17-5 in their favor. Not unlike a drug dealer. Where does it leave the casually good to exceptional player? They don't care and now I don't care. Every game since the original black ops has had this with some varying degree. How many times have you played on a team with one of these games and wonder how the majority of everyone went negative? It's there. Group this up with an anemic number of maps and some of the series worst score streaks, you've got a really boring game. I don't feel compelled to play it - I often forget that I have it. I'm sure not "buying" anything on it. The sad thing is, they'll promote a redux of MW2 when they realize no one is playing or buying it, but they'll do it with the same awful netcode like they did with MWR. This is why the series is dead. Your skill or desire to build a skill-set doesn't mean anything to them. Expand

After that game I lost interest in the series as I began to hate the direction the series was starting to go to. I didn't pick up or play any of the jetpack games, Ghosts through Infinite Warfare, as it finally looked like Call of Duty lost its way, and what the series was initially about.

When WWII was announced I was a little excited that they were going back to boots on the ground, going back to WWII, and going back to the series roots. Though I was skeptical, and became a little disappointed in some of the features they were implementing, or blatantly ripping off from other games, I still decided to pick the game up on launch day to play it, and hopefully get that same feeling I had when I played CoD 2, 3 and WaW. Sadly, this game is probably one of the worst, if not the worst Call of Duty game I have played.

    To break it down:

    Weapons -
Dont even bother using any of the other guns unless its the STG 44 or BAR, as silent SMGs dominate in this game. They are great in CQC, and can outgun nearly any sniper rifle, LMG, or typical
semi auto rifles at medium and long range. STG and BAR have nearly 0 recoil, and again can out shoot any of the other weapons at medium to long range. Don't bother with the shotguns unless you run with the incendiary rounds loaded as even nearly point blank, shotguns are a 2 hit kill.

    Maps -
These are probably the worst maps in Call of Duty history. Every map is a chokepoint meat grinder. It's you're typical 3 lane map, but there's no tactics involved. They become a meat grinder as they are poorly designed. Maps are filled with clutter, no flanking routes, terrible spawns, and they are easy to spawn camp on. Unless you like to die over and over and over due to campers camping your spawn, you'll probably not enjoy these maps.

    Matchmaking-
The matchmaking in the game is equally as terrible as anything else. You'll constantly be put on teams filled with the worst players in the game, as the enemy team is stacked with above average and good players, which just results in a steam roll for the enemy team.

    Gameplay-
This game is filled with players hopping around like Master Chief, and dropping down onto their bellies to drop shot you. Due to all the clutter on the maps, you'll get everyone headglitching behind an object.

    Zombies-
Zombies in WaW was fun. It was addicting. Zombies in WWII is utterly boring. Played 1 online round of Zombies, got to level 30+ and everytime I died or go downed, I was praying the game would be over. I was that bored of it. I was bored of the game by level 15. It was just too easy to advance. I never felt threatened by the zombies at all. It was just boring.

This game is just utter crap. It is probably the worst Call of Duty that I have played. I was hoping that when they said they were going back to boots on the ground, they were going back to Call of Duty 2, one of, if not the best game in the franchise, but with modern tech. Nope. This game feels like it was made in 2006. Unbalanced weapons, matches, poorly designed maps, which look like one of the developers toddlers designed them, horrible lag, and matchmaking, and ultimately just a poorly developed game. The fact that this game took 3 years to make is astonishing as it looks like they did everything in 6 months. Wait, Call of Duty 3 was developed in 8 months, and was a better developed game than WWII. There was no sense of accomplishment when you do well, no satisfaction when you kill an enemy who was besting you the whole match, no sense of pride as you rank up yourself, your division or your weapon. I was extremely disappointed with the game, and I didn't have a lot of expectations coming into it. If you want to play a good WWII game, play any of the older Call of Duty games. Play Medal of Honor Frontlines/Rising Sun/Airbourne/Allied Assault, they will all give you a better experience in a WWII setting, and online, and be a whole lot more fun than this game.

The only thing that is redeemable in WWII is the new War mode. That is the only redeeming factor in the game. Even then, there's only 3 maps, which get old fast. If you want to waste $60 on this game, I won't stop you, but I will warn you I wouldn't spend $20 on it.

Campaign - It's probably one of the best Call of Duty Campaigns up to date. Lots of fun, challenging depending on the difficulty, and more. However I feel like the campaign is a little short, you can complete it within 5 hours, but it doesn't matter, as long as I'm having a good time, I have nothing to complain about.

Multiplayer - Now I will agree that this is probably one of the worst launch for any Call of Duty title, however Sledgehammer is continuing to fix it and multiplayer is now playable. I don't like the fact that you lose some XP or you get the correct amount, I hope they fix that sometime soon. Besides all that, boots on the ground made MP better than the last few CoDs. People are saying that "It's a reskin from the past few CoDs" or "They just copied WAW or BF1", now I will have to highly disagree with this statement, didn't everyone want Boots on the Ground Call of Duty back? Why are they complaining now, by the end of the day they just end up playing it no matter what. MP playing with friends or by yourself is still fun.

Zombies - This mode has been in the last few CoDs, starting with WAW, BO1, BO2, AW, BO3, IW, and now WW2. Now this zombies mode doesn't beat Treyach Zombies, theirs will always be my favorite out of all of the CoDs. However zombies is still fun, especially with friends. Sledgehammer did a good job with the map (The Final Reich), zombies can come out of no where and they actually look terrifying, yet they can even scare you at times. I wish there were more maps to play on but I guess we will just have to wait for more DLC.

Micro Transactions - Micro-transactions has been in almost every multiplayer game, Overwatch, Rainbow 6 Siege, Battlefront 2, and more. It's not surprising that Call of Duty: WW2 has micro-transactions, however I see no point of complaining about micro-transactions and here's why. You don't need it. They're just cosmetics for you to wear or use on your guns, and you don't need DLC weapons to be good in a game. To be good in a game, you must be skillful, yes I understand that some CoD players might just sit in corners just to wait for you but here's a solution, throw a grenade to get them out of there. even if they have a DLC weapon or not, they will lose most likely. It's not like Star Wars Battlefront 2 where you get a hero and you become more powerful. Plus people feel the need to get it and the only way to get it is to buy it.... well here's where they're wrong, you don't need to buy items in a game to be good, most likely Sledgehammer is gonna make it so you can spend your Armory Credits on collections to get a DLC weapon and they're not that hard to get. You can complete contracts that will grant you a free supply drop or armory credits or you can be lucky and get a free Rare Supply Drop by the end of the game. So stop complaining, you don't NEED to buy them.

    Issues -
Maps are tiny (Not that bad though)
Some guns are weak (like the Shotguns or some SMGs)
Not enough maps (Only about 9 playable maps, 3 War Maps)
    XP not working correctly
Disconnected by the end of the game
Party not working correctly (Sometimes it will kick you out or you will see a black screen until the next game starts)

Other than that I gave CoD WW2 a 8/10, not a great launch but it is a great game, boot on the ground is back, fun game, I would give it a try.

Simply put, multiplayer this time around feels the most broken in terms of lag compensation the series has ever had. If I play at 2 or 3 in the morning(EST) I manage high KDR. If I play during prime time, it's pretty much me going 3-20 every match. Gun fights are unwinnable. Half the time I'm shooting at someone the hits aren't registering and if they do, I still will likely be killed first(this is even when I'm crouching around a corner proned and waiting for someone to run into my sights). I wrote this review after attempting to play with a shotgun. I ran around a corner, fired into someone's head and didn't receive a hit marker before I was killed. A respawn later, I sprinted and rounded into someone who ran around a corner at the same time as myself, but somehow fired 4 shots before I could hit my trigger once. This is so bad because it makes the entire sub machine gun/shot gun classes unplayable for those with strong connections. I *have* to use long range assault rifles and even then, I *have* to be viewing down scope before someone is in sight to stand a chance. Ever wanted to know what it feels like to consistently prone down in a corner half covered by a wall waiting for someone to round a corner(not because you're a camper, but because you *have* to camp) and then when they do, they STILL manage to zoom down their scope at you and fire 3 shots before you get to fire one, and then in the replay that half second you saw them before being shot was actually a full 1-2 seconds? Then play this. Expand

I remember BF4 had some serious multiplayer issues on launch, so hopefully they fix this game so it's not a complete waste of $60.

Also, most of the unfavorable reviews are just idiots who cant accept that we live in a capitalist world. Things are done to support the bottom line. If you want to rant about companies taking your money, go to battlefront 2. Now for the review. Campaign was awesome, Multiplayer was nice, and despite what others are saying about sniping, it can be done, it just requires skill lmao. shotguns actually work in this game, and aren't just filler weapons. Their range is perfect. I just wish that enemy health bars are displayed, like in infinite warfare. People complain about how the guns are just reskins, but what the hell were you expecting? You cant just make fictional weapons and call it WW2. TL;DR: Stop hating on this game, its great. MAKE MORE OF THESE GAMES SLEDGEHAMMER!

The game takes place in World War II just as many people have been wishing for, however from the moment of the game's reveal it was completely apparent that Activision were trying to capitalise on Battlefield 1's success in a desperate attempt to remain prominent within the genre.

The game is entirely lifeless and the setting feels one layer deep, as opposed to the historically accurate 'realism' of war that made the earlier Call of Duty games such a hit. If I can use any gun in any fight, regardless of historical accuracy, I might as well call in a giant Loot box to crush the opponent, that's how immersion shattering it is.

Speaking of Giant Loot boxes....Call of Duty: WWII is absolutely atrocious in it's dependence on Loot boxes to generate excessive wealth for Activision, and to exploit the consumer. Any game that dares to reward me for watching other people gamble in an attempt to convince me to do so as well will not be tolerated at all.

    To Conclude:
Call of Duty: WWII is a half-hearted attempt to cash in on the success of its rivals and restore the dwindling fanbase of the series that lacks meaningful characterization or weight both in its writing and technical aspects. The game compromises the legitimacy of its historical emulation for the sake of Loot Boxes and it shows a terrible lack of confidence or respect for both the series itself and the dedicated fans who've supported the series for years.

Its like that this COD WW2 wasnt ready to be released. But i must admit when the game does what i must do, its almost the best Cod i played in years.

The singleplayer experience is like the serie Band of brothers. Its pretty awesome but its still a hollywood like story.

    Conclusion:
The singleplayer is a Hollywood like story so i gave this a 7 for it.
with the multiplayer its pretty great but with the messy servers its almost unplayable. so i gave this a 6.

Game is trying to make sense of comradory and make you care about characters but problem is that there is nothing special about them to start care. Sometimes you think that game will give you something interesting but after a while you are dissapointed. There is no vilian and story is not cohesive. It feels more like episodes from B1. If I would replace characters in each mission I would not miss anything. QTE is very dissatisfied, even tho you can make them cool (Heavy Rain). There is some new things in the gameplay like you can ask for particular things from your team members. There is some action scenes too, probably the best one is train chase. But these scenes are not impressive because we saw it before. Other games are caught up with crazy action. Lets say few years ago in modern warfare times I would say yes only COD developers can make action as crazy as here.
    I loved France Liberation section.
THE WORST THING in the game is story. At the announcement event of this game Activision was saying about how personal and important this game to them because they care about history of WW2. Well, that was a joke probably. Whole game is representing how you should not make story about WW2. There is some playing with history but in general is so bad. And I am not expecting everything smart from a Call Of Duty game. But why would deveopers lie about how they care about history..... oh yeah it is marketing.

Overall, I partly enjoyed this game. Call Of Duty did returned to the throne of FPS games. It is maybe even step back compare to IW in terms of campaign.

Snipers quick scoping in close quarters without taking time to aim, because the aim assist for snipers is ridiculous. it has the potential to be so much fun too. That's what makes playing it so frustrating.

Firstly, campaign is just mediocre. I would say that the game play is good but story is disappointing thought. Graphic is good but not as good as I was expecting. In campaign, I was expecting Russian, Japanese, Italian and many other countries that were the victim of WWII but the campaign only focus on few events between US and Germany. How could COD not include Russian and Japanese in campaign? I love COD World at War campaign and if I compare to this latest edition I would say it is below par.
Secondly, multiplayer is repetitive and I got bored after few matches. War mode is a good addition but it is not enough to make things right. There are few maps and all of them were small, poorly designed and heaven for SMGs, being a fan of bolt action rifles and M1 Garand it is frustrating.
In the end, I would like to say that it is just like an old COD games with WWII theme. No innovation nothing new in it, War mode is a copy of Battlefield 1 operation mode, Headquarter mode is a replica of Destiny 2 clan, campaign is a more or less same as Saving Private Ryan Hollywood movie. Just 5 hour campaign, it would easily extend to 10 hours by adding more content by including Russia, Japan, Italy and other main players in WWII.
I would honestly give COD WII 5 out of 10, but being a little bias and as a fan of this series; my final verdict is 6 out of 10.

After putting a solid 20+hours into the game, around 5 in single player and 15+ in multiplayer I can honestly say "save your money", i'm quite regretting purchasing the game myself. When the game is fun, it is great (Mainly when playing with friends), however, it constantly disconnects you from your party, from games, halfway through games, when the game ends, when the game begins. Gives you loading screens that last in excess of 20 minutes. Black screens that you can not back out of, therefore making you reset the game completely. No dedicated servers. No host migration (it simply ends the game if the host leaves). Completely empty HQ thanks to **** connections, so you cant complete some of the challenges e.g. give 50 commendations to other players. The game is shipped out with the bare minimum when it comes to maps and variation, probably waiting to release more maps via season pass (as if we didn't realise Activision is money hungry already). The maps they give us are very poorly designed and thought out, because playing as a black, female Nazi in the London Docks was somehow going to make sense. In the last 2 hours of gameplay alone I have been disconnected/kicked/black screen'd at least 17 times. Party members have been thrown into random games not with the party and if that wasn't infuriating enough when we joined the game, the remaining 3 party members where split 2/1 on the teams, fantastic right?

Honestly, if you are REALLY interested in the single player campaign (which lasts maybe 5 hours) then wait for a sale and then get it, or at best lend/rent it from somewhere. This game is not worth the £49 asking price. Not by a long shot, unless they get their fingers out their ass and fix the myriad of problems it currently has.

They also added a "public" area for interactions with other players. The game servers run so poorly though that you can't even connect to random online players. If the game did run correctly, the game would make you go into these public area to open your loot boxes in front of everyone. They do this in hopes of sparking other players to buy loot boxes if yours contains a good weapon skin or other useless items.

The 6 hour long campaign and one zombie map doesn't justify the full $60 price tag. I hope you don't repeat my mistake of buying this game.

The graphics are great, they really upgrade all the visual effects (finally!), but, to be a game that sells more than 10 millions copies each year, the upgrade is less that I expect.
The sound is great, I really doesn't have any complaint.

For zombies, I like the scary sounds and ambient that create for this mode, but the map is not great and it's not bad and the survive mode is ok, nothing special.

The entire franchise is desperate to add something new, but in the end always settles for focusing on the multiplayer side of the game, which the codtards always eat up.

Another MAJOR issue is that the tank controls are awful, straight up terrible. It makes for an incredibly difficult and frustrating experience when your tank turns like a slug, gets stuck on scenery and is downright bad - the controls need to be reworked. Another major issue is the hit boxes, they are bad - really really bad, more than a few times on a quick time event you can just blindly fire your gun and miss the target...but it'll still register as a hit/kill.

I would like to see COD evolve from both a weak single player experience, and a weak multiplayer arena shooter, the logical step would be an open world live war with dynamic missions, drop in/out multiplayer.

The last CoD I played was Black Ops 3, and I thought that iteration was acceptable. The last truly great Call of Duty I've played was Modern Warfare 3. After half a decade of the wallrunning, exosuit-toting madness, I was really not holding out hope for WWII to be anything other than a bland money grab. Of course, being a giant moron, I pre-ordered it at 11:45 on the night of launch rather than go for broke on Wolfenstein 2. I spent the 15 minutes before actual launch wondering who had drugged my dinner to make me do such a thing. And then I played it.

Barring the launch night issues connecting to multiplayer servers, the game is a beautiful and sincere addition to the franchise. The campaign is, in its purest essence, Saving Private Ryan without the Private Ryan. It even opens with the landing at Normandy, and from there blossoms into a not so imaginative, but hellishly fun shooter. I'm on the third or fourth level at this point, and I'm eager to play the rest: It sounds amazing (Sledghammer took notes from the original Star Wars: Battlefront reboot) and it looks just as great. The audio and visuals have never been better in CoD. Character design is pretty standard for the FPS genre, but the connection and relationships between characters is still suitable to make the campaign enjoyable, rather than a chore.

Multiplayer is quite refreshing in that it gets straight back to what once made Call of Duty the must-own in FPS land: Raw, skill-based arcade shooting, with a delicious array of weapon attachments, cosmetic upgrades, and skill perks to unlock which revolve around a new and intriguing "Division" system. This isn't in line with the usual CoD title, where ten or so custom classes are yours to outfit. Instead, it gives you that option with the ability to truly maximize a given class's skillset: If you play as the "Mountainous" (Sniper) Division, you will see added rewards for keeping your sniper equipped rather than toting an SMG in your ghillie suit. The Divisional loadouts give reason to diversify your classes, rather than set up five different iterations of the same OP rifle or other that typically plague CoD installments. How many of us used anything other than an ACR combo in the old days? Now, you're incentivized to branch out with your custom classes in order to maximize your killing potential. Lastly, the new War mode is really compelling: It can be difficult at times given some spawn and location advantages for defenders/attackers depending on map, but a really neat mode that I look forward to them expanding upon. New maps and variants should make War a great staple mode, particularly for those who like campaigns and don't traditionally favor online multiplayer.

Zombies, too, has met a drastic and much-needed upgrade. BLOPS3 zombies at launch, frankly, sucked. It was too hard to progress, too unclear in its rules, and ultimately if you didn't matchmake with someone who knew what they were doing, it was far too difficult to last beyond the initial waves, no matter how fun Jeff Goldblum is to play with. With a refreshing return to actual zombies and shambling mutants that are - above all else - enjoyable to kill and fight, I was really pleased with the experience. So far I've gotten a few 1.5-2 hour long runs under my belt, although I have yet to meet the "big boss" I've heard about waiting at the finish. That dang zeppelin gets me every time. From the ground up, the zombies mode is creepier and more intricate in its campaign mission and overall tone: It feels more cohesive than any mode before, including my beloved Tranzit from the BLOPS2 days. Guns feel good in zombies mode, and everything but the starting pistol packs enough punch to at least feel useful in some scenario or other. The added quest markers and objective notes make it that much more user-friendly to get to the bottom of the campaign and make tangible progress, which is both friendly to noobs and dismissable entirely for those who want to try their hand at exploring with no direction. The lore is at least suitably engaging, and on the whole it's a treat to play, with friends or online.

    The ultimate bads:

Campaign: Derivative: doesn't do much that's new for WWII, but brings a nice exposure to the conflict to a younger audience that doesn't remember Finest Hour or Medal of Honor the way I do. Characters are well-worn tropes that could use some inspiration.

Multiplayer: not very friendly to newbies. At this point, if you're not well-versed in CoD and FPS shooters generally, you're going to get killed a lot and that's going to really frustrate you. But the modes are just diverse enough to stay interesting. Guns are fun to use and sound great, but really there are only a handful that you see time and time again. The community knows the STG-44 is it.

    Zombies: Needs a non-campaign mode.

    Verdict: Dang good. 8/10.

The perk system in this game is pretty much non-existent and there are only 9 maps available which are all uninspired 3 route camper fests and a chore to play.

The only reason anyone even likes this game is because the previous three titles in this franchise set the bar so astronomical low that something as asinine as boots on the ground game play seems refreshing to the fanboys who waste their money on this game year after year.

Zombies: Without a doubt, zombies is my favorite part of the whole game. I have been a big fan of WAW,B01, and B02 zombies and still play it today with my friends. WW2 zombies to me feels VERY similar in ways to these games but doesn't add too much. With the two zombie maps that come with game, you get bored with them fairly quick (but that's not to say they are horrible maps). Although if you're looking to get WW2 strictly for zombies, i would recommend waiting for Zombie DLC maps to come out first.

Multiplayer: For me, the WW2 multiplayer was a huge let down. The game itself feels very slow paced, for the reasons that:
    - If you are firing from a fair distance with an smg, it can take up to 7 shots to kill someone.
-It takes a 5 kill streak just to get a UAV.
-Maps are way to big (most maps of the maps i hate)
For some people i can understand if you would enjoy a slower paced game. But for me I hate it. On the positive side, the sounds and visuals in the game a very satisfying.

Campaign: After completing the campaign i was in shock to how boring of a story it was. The campaign could of been written by a kid in elementary school. How the story progressed was very predictable, and there were only missions that involved Americans and Nazi's... With that, the missions itself were just boring. There wasn't a single mission that i would love to go back and replay.

Overall WW2 in terms of call of duty standards was a disappointment. It was nowhere worth the amount of money the game costs and the campaign felt like a complete waste of time. I would recommend trying to borrow the game first and possibly waiting for future dlc and patches to come out.

When this game works it's great but it never works. There are constant disconnects and issues with lobbies and matches. Many times your progress does not get recorded and you can't complete the daily and weekly objectives. Even when you do not get disconnected you still do not always see your wins recorded. Let me start by saying that I 'am a 34 year old die hard gamer. I have owned systems and played games that some may have never seen or even heard of. I have owned systems and played games that some may have never seen or even heard of. Games have been a major part of my life since I was a child throwing tantrums over Thrillas Surf and Safari. I have played many COD titles and always at least tried to remain a loyalist. It wasn't until the N64 era that I really dug into the FPS genre with classic titles like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Call of Duty launched (many years later), and wow what a fantastic beginning to a franchise! Epic multiplayer and short yet powerful campaigns. It almost seemed like it would never stop either, every year a new COD would launch and it was a must have! Suddenly it seemed like it started to falter. It went from a perspective I understood to double jumping and running along the walls; flying through the air with jet packs.. Needless to say I wasn't much of a fan and only bought the new franchise titles when they were on sale or at a killer discount. Even then... After playing Ghosts, I realized the franchise had completely fallen into disarray and I converted my attention more into the battlefield franchise. I played Infinite Warfare with a friend and almost couldn't physically do it. Another COD failure. I should have known better. Then alas! A "boots on the ground" Call of Duty! Could this be a rebirth of a once great franchise!? Could this be another great title; reminiscent of the original Black Ops 1?? How exciting! I had to go out and get it on launch day! Nov 3rd! I had high hopes and hadn't bought a COD title in years. I dove right into multiplayer and tested every available weapon I could. It had a renewed feeling and I was excited. For 20 minutes. Then the endorphins settled and I took note to aspects of the game that became more evident. Like why do I keep playing the same 2 or 3 maps over and over? why is everyone running around with SMGs? Why is every map so small and contained? I quickly started to feel like I spent 59.99 for a few hours of enjoyment, and that afterwards, this game would sit on the shelf with the dozen or so other titles I have that rarely played in the last 6 months or so, and as I sit here typing, that is where CODWW2 sits. In the case, on my shelf, next to The Wolf Among Us. I anticipate that is where it will stay, while Battlefield 1 sits pretty in my Playstation. Mark my words, this WILL be the last COD game that I purchase, and I implore you to not make the same mistake that I did. Now I sit, eagerly awaiting the next Battlefield installment, but even if that takes years, Battlefield 1 will still satisfy me more than CODWW2 ever could. Expand

I hate that I'm going to get down-voted to hell for rating it so low, But honestly lets be real I'm a call of duty fan boy bought it every release. I try to be fair to games never rating them in red unless they are broken or a rip off. I like many people bought it on the psn store so no tax yay...but now i cannot return it boo..... A lot of people my dumbass

A lot of people my dumbass included thought it'd be W.a.W2 (It is not)

    Pros
-Campaign is good return to form
    -Zombies is fun
    -WW2
    -Graphically it inst shiet
-When your team actually works together War mode is fun
    -Headquarters is neat

    Cons
-Multiplayer is broken (Spawns, Finding matches, Contracts, Guns)
    -Multiplayer maps are honestly ****
-Campaign can easily be beaten in one sitting
    -Zombies is overly convoluted
    -Multiplayer is unbelievably broken
    -BS deaths in the campaign

I don't care about the supply drops they are in every game seriously if you're rating it low for that shut the **** up. The playing as black people and women in the MP who ****ing cares, The iron crosses in Campaign who cares?! Yeah I wouldve liked it if the Nazi army had swastikas but whatever its no bother. Fan boys accept that its not perfect get off the 10s Haters accept that its a game out there that people enjoy get off your 0s. So much hype so much disappointment.
When they fix the actual broken things my rating will go up

I actually like this game. I'm into war/action genre. I love the sound of exploding grenades and dirt tossed in mid-air. The overall feeling for me is amazing. With accumulated user-score of 4.4, this made me realize that the over-all quality of a game sorely rely on our personal taste. The game made me feel like I'm back as a kid playing the classic COD. I think the reason why this game has a low user score is because most gamers today are too critical to the point where even a very tiny mistake or not meeting their expectations , the game is trash for them. If you're just a casual gamer who are into war/action games, looking for fun and missing the classic COD experience, i highly recommend this for you. For me, COD WWII is worth my money. Expand

This game is a complete waste of money. Please, I urge you not to buy; you will be highly disappointed. From the basic non-strategical gameplay to the tiny maps there is not much to enjoy about this game. Call of Duty really let their fans down with this game. I don't like the game play, maps are way too small, small amounts of people in a game (6 Person teams), and on top of that its just not fun. I was not a fan of Call of Duty's last release of Advance Warfare but looking back even that is 100 times better than this new one. I am trying to find something positive to say about it so I will say that their cut scene are very cool and the graphics are amazing but non of that translates into the actual gameplay. The zombies can be fun and seems to be the main selling point of their game because its really the only thing people play. I would highly recommend NOT buying Call of Duty World War II. Instead, If you are looking for a strategic world war II game with big detailed maps and large amount of players in games then, I would Battlefield One. It far surpasses any of its competition at the moment and is an incredibly fun game to play. Expand

    80 gigabytes of garbage.

I have hated COD since BLOPS2. As soon as it turned into Halo, I started hating it. But, I was really looking forward to this one because it was going back to their roots. This is 80 gigs of trash. I sold it less than owning it for 24 hours. Campaign: SUCKS. This is NOT a campaign. It is only 5 hours long. I am sorry, but a campaign should not take 5 hours

This is 80 gigs of trash. I sold it less than owning it for 24 hours.

Campaign: SUCKS. This is NOT a campaign. It is only 5 hours long. I am sorry, but a campaign should not take 5 hours to beat. I have purchased DLC content greater than that.

Multiplayer: TERRIBLE. COD continues to use the same gaming engine from 2007 and it shows in the graphics, they are terrible. Gameplay and movement is horrible. You are constantly swaying side-to-side which was intentional to give it that feel of really walking, it failed. Aiming is choppy as well. Above all that, the thing that really destroys COD is the community. You still have the same people playing that ruin the game. This game requires no skill, you can pick it up and get 15 kills without trying. People either hide or run around aimlessly like morons.

Zombies: Didn't even play. I was so displeased with everything else that I sold the game not even 24 hours later.

Lootboxes: These are NOT pay to win, they are cosmetic crap only.

I really wanted to like this game so much.

This is not a game for e-sport games. S & D mode, too much noise on the map. The maps are too small and too fast. Class of "mountains" in quiet walking destroys game. E-sport in this game does not exist.

I really wanted CoD’s return to World War II to be something more than a solid game – but it’s not. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve already seen all this, that the developers (or perhaps the publisher) chose to create something as safe as possible. There’s just one campaign mission that surprised me with its scale, the rest is just a disappointing “best of Call of Duty”. The multiplayer is as good as usual, but it was infused with unnecessary systems resembling mobile titles, e.g spending in-game currency on pointless tasks of the “kill 100 enemies” variety. Missions that make you watch other players open their loot boxes are the pinnacle of absurdity. [13/2017, p.64]

A solid return to its roots, Call of Duty WWII reminds us what made us all fall in love Call of Duty in the first place. It ticks all the boxes which is both a blessing and a curse. Good fun and worth your time but offers nothing exceptional.

Revitalised and exemplary FPS gaming. Multiplayer trims back to the essentials, campaign shows sensitivity and Zombies...well it's a new excuse to play CoD Zombies. [Christmas 2017, p.77]
