    Ever notice why Infinity Ward games had a better Supply Drop system? Ever notice why World War II had a fair contract system? Because these developers decided not to be greedy corporate leeches like Treyarch did. EA has crumbled through their fans taking a stand and not buying Star Wars and Battlefield 5. Treyarch fans should take a note out of EAs book. Take off the nostalgia goggles and see that all you are buying is Black Ops III that is

    (1) Ripping off other trends to stay relevant (e.g. Fortnite, Overwatch, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege)
    (2) Gradually reducing original content (a whopping 7 remakes this game including Season Pass content)
    (3) Still using an outdated Season Pass model whereas other developers have dropped this unethical trend
    (4) Pushing loot boxes onto a $100 game for multiple modes
    (5) Taking a mode which Fortnite did for free and charging for it
    (6) A 55gb day one patch for yet again server drops
    (7) Clear cut evidence of no money being invested into a better engine. Graphics look worse than Black Ops III (slow rendering, dull colours, poor textures), game mechanics are worse than Black Ops III (lag, bad hit detection) and so called skill based match making is shocking (joining already half finished games and being paired with the 5 worst players against the 6 best)    … Expand

    Coming off a fantastic Black Ops 3 experience, I must say I was very hyped for this. But that is all it really will be, hype. Straight off the bat I must say Multiplayer is a compelling pile of trash. The reincarnation of 'Boots on Ground' gameplay is not the same. It is heavily sped up. Guns are all along the lines of over-powered, to the point where the first unlockable handgun is justComing off a fantastic Black Ops 3 experience, I must say I was very hyped for this. (A LOT of buffing is gonna need to be done, Activision.) But for what it is worth, the maps are decent.

    Moving onto 'Blackout', which is honestly still a flaming hot piece of garbage, but nonetheless I'd much rather play that than Fortnite.

    Zombies is where I am giving the game a 5/10. Only because no matter what, Zombies will always hold a special place in my heart. Even if Activision love being tight-asses with their DLC, I will always play the Black Ops series just for that.

    IN CONCLUSION: Don't expect anything 'different' in this game, just Black Ops 3.1 with no moon-jumping.    … Expand

    No campaign and they add in insane amounts of microtransactions after launch so everyone praises it and everyone buys it but then they add gambling systems which prey on people with addictive tendencies. Disgusting... just disgusting

    After refusing to play or buy due to no campaign I ended up playing in a friends house for a few hours but it did not change my mind. The game feels like BO3.5. Offline modes are terrible and stories are very short. Online does not have enough modes and content to justify no campaign and too many rehashed maps. I normally get bored of COD games after the 2nd dlc and having to purchase aAfter refusing to play or buy due to no campaign I ended up playing in a friends house for a few hours but it did not change my mind.     The Blackout mode is a ton of fun and I'm actually quite a fan of the gunplay in this game, but the overpowered kill streaks and uneven operative power-ups during regular multiplayer take away from what could've been the best Call of Duty game in years.

    Well, I was hoping that this COD would bring something intresting to the table but most of the new features are mostly marketing gimmincks. Sure the battle royale is new to COD but there are tons of free to play royal games out there and the COD version it gets old real fast... and this is a full price game.     The game is basically unfinished, glitchy, and a mess. Stuff that should have been in on the day of launch takes a month to get updated into the game. The maps are all small except for one, and the game favors campers with heavily several spots to camp spawn points the game is just terrible. Cold-Blooded perk has been nerfed to an extreme to the point where scorestreaks will still see and shoot you it'll just take longer for them to. At least make a specialist that is like an anti-technology person who can get past that stuff. Because the tech is unstoppable in this game, from the specialist equipment to there weapons all the way to the scorestreaks. Objective game modes can just be dominated due to the tech. The counter to everything in this game is to just shoot it like the barricade when can't there be like a self-destruct button on the back or something to destroy it faster. It makes zero sense it's like either waste time shooting the tech and lose the game or keep dying by them and lose the game. Why was there an EMP in BO2 and BO3 but not BO4 when it takes place in between both of them it's like the universe just got dumb. Why isn't spectre in the game there is no silent specialist. Brings back old maps because they are lazy and the new specialist doesn't fit well with the old maps. PS4 gets the free content that should have been in the game before Xbox, it's just unfair and dumb. For a game that took 3 years to make it shouldn't be unfinished. Multiplayer is horrible. Zombies and Blackout are ok. Anticipated for no reason. Brought the 100 dollar edition and it took almost a month to get my cod points. The game just breaks every day, stuff comes and goes on a regular. It is by far the most uncomplete Call of Duty of all time, but the game is fun at times because it's Call of Duty.… Expand

    I think this game is getting way to much hate. I'm sure people played the campaign, but not that many people. Multiplayer was always the COD experience. They brought solid maps, solid gun play, relatively balanced characters and guns. That made up a pretty good experience. I will break down my review into each multiplayer mode.

Multiplayer was always the COD experience. They brought solid maps, solid gun play, relatively balanced characters and guns. That made up a pretty good experience. I will break down my review into each multiplayer mode.

    Battle Royal/Blackout:

    I think the BR in BO4 is some of the best we've seen so far, things can still be improved though. Progression is probably the worst thing in Blackout, but this can be improved with a simple patch. Takes a long time to unlock stuff as-is. Gun play is tight and feels responsive. I never felt like I was unfairly killed. Overall 8/10 (Minor bug fixes and better progression would make it a 10)

    Multiplayer:

    I spent the most of my time playing various modes in the multiplayer. in my 30ish hours I never noticed any weapon being overpowered, everything had its place. Progression is rewarding, unlocking things like skins or new weapons is very natural (once every couple games) and you always have something to look forward to. The customization of weapons is probably my favorite part, ALL guns feel different. Overall (10/10)

    Zombies:

    Probably the worst part of the game. Coming out with one map (and another blocked behind a paywall), though fun made the game feel pretty repetitive. Difficulty is there and playing with friends is a blast. Once they add more maps, it will be a lot better. Overall (7/10)

    Conclusion... I can't comment on micro transactions as the game has none yet. It's something to keep an eye on. The $60 you spend on the game, as of this moment is worth it. Overall (8/10)

Gone are the confusing and unnecessary gameplay gimmicks of the last few installments and back are the simple symmetric and asymmetric maps with killstreaks and no enhanced mobility. I am not the most skilled COD player but I felt that I could hold my own in most    Standard Multiplayer:

I am not the most skilled COD player but I felt that I could hold my own in most game types.
    Balancing seems to be much better in this game than previous installments but it still has its issues. If you are someone who is not a fan of leveling up in order to get more powerful guns and better attachments, you will be disappointed, as this staple mechanic is still present. It is not as bad as it has been in previous games but it is still noticeable. However, as I stated earlier balancing is much better and new players will notice that the barrier to entry is much lower than it has been in the past.
    Personally, I have never been a fan of the class system and limited the classes I can use to a specific hero, which only two players per team can choose, which also come with their specific abilities. I feel that there is some major rebalancing needed in this aspect and it is a big turnoff for me. I would prefer to not have them at all honestly. But that is about it for the core multiplayer portion of the game.

    Blackout:
    Blackout is a ton of fun personally. It is much easier to jump into Blackout for those who are new to battle royal games compared to the other options. Gunplay feels tight and fair, there has never been an instance where I lost a battle and felt like I was cheated in some way. Customization is very limited and most skins are locked behind some very difficult challenges or unrealistically large time-sink requirements. If I am being honest Blackout, in my mind, plays a lot more like Halo than Call of Duty. It is slower paced, it has much more focus on map and power weapon control and communication is necessary for team success. I really enjoy it and it is a very different experience than the classic COD experience. They invested a lot of time into the mode, and while it may not be for everyone, it is definitely a welcome addition.

    Zombies:
    As for zombies, I do not have much to say. It's zombies. Map expansion and character dialog do feel much more meaningful and IX specifically has been a blast to play. The maps themselves are pretty creative and unique but still contain the staple zombies gameplay loop. On that same note, I do wish there was some more innovation to the game. There are much more meaningful story elements as I noted earlier and some levels have unique challenges in the form of different zombie types and some bosses and mini-bosses but that is about it. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to play, but with how many zombie installments we've had, I really wish there was more that made this one stand out.

    Conclusion:
    Overall Black Ops 4 is a fine game. The campaign will be missed. (However with how poorly received they have been lately, maybe it is better we didn't get one in the Black Ops storyline). The multiplayer is as fun and fastpaced as it has ever been and balancing, while still not where I should be, is much better. Simplified gameplay has made a welcome return and overall the game is of a decent quality. I stopped taking COD seriously after Black Ops 2 and this game has brought me back into the fold, a commendable feat, considering the many alternatives that are currently in the market. If you miss the old Call of Duty, I suggest giving Black Ops 4 a shot, but maybe try it before buying if possible, it's not for everyone.    … Expand

    Mechanically the game is very good... HOWEVER:

    The game itself is a joke, a load of old maps thrown together in an unfinished way, with no campaign. The Zombies maps are dissappointing. Blackout is the only saviour, but there are major issues with this as well.
    The price is disgusting for a remake of old stuff. Would never buy or recommend to anyone

    My main grip with this game (such as it is), is the lack of a campaign/story mode.. this was the main and sole reason i personally bought these titles before, for the military themed campaign, without that, this just seems like a really lazy product and extremely poor value for money and money grab on the behalf of the publisher, and is now an empty shallow PvP only experience with a now obvious online reliant shelf life before it becomes essentially a glorifies mug coaster... without a campaign, this is a huge backwards step and something less, not progress, especially compared to the feature packed Black Ops 3, with two campaigns, Co-Op capable campaign and Split screen for all modes, this Black Ops (i don't even know why it's called Black Ops as its nothing to do with Black Ops operations) is an insult after such a comprehensive Black Ops 3.

    I hope this is not a sigh of things to come for Call of Duty, because if it is, i will never be buying a Call of Duty again.    … Expand

It would've been much preferable if the game was released in November. It's just unbelievable how such a mess of a product was put out at launch. This game would've been actually GOOD if it were working properly. I really hope for the sake of this franchise that Treyarch listens to the community and fixes the game before the community itself starts leaving.    … Expand

    So many reviews don't make sense to me. I love this new COD so much. The zombie mode keeps getting better and this one just blew my mind. I love the specialists concept which was upgraded and balanced, and also the blackout mode. I'm very satisfied with BO4 and would recommend it.

MacTavish, Ghost, Grinch, Sandman (true Soldier) Nikolai, Truck, Yuri, Taz,. down to Private ramirez, Roach ,Burns, Woods.I could keep naming.     I am unable to play online with friends, due to an error that has been present since Black Ops 3. If a game is online only, and doesn't let you play online with friends, then it is worthless and gets a 0 rating for not being playable.

    This is the best COD game so far with a new gamemode that will get a bunch of 5 year olds back to playing the game and when they play blackout they'll be jumping around in the desert while being shot trying to build a wall.

Nobody is playing because they want to have good time, no, they are playing for their freaking K/D. Everyone is jumping around like a rabbit on crack. The Maps are hot garbage as well. Their lack of ideas led them to put four maps from previous black ops games in the game. The "new" maps are straight garbage. Way too small with too many corners for people to camp in. Scorestreaks are trash, specialists are trash, everything is trash. Remember back in the day when you got the host in MW2/3 ? You were a god. Today, you are getting screwed if you have good internet.     Likely the worst Black Ops ever made. I didn't think Treyarch could ever do this bad. The maps are huge for how slow your character is (which isn't that bad of a thing), but they have super tight corridors and a huge variety of altitudes which make it terrible. Worst maps ever. Then the 150 health and record time to kill? terrible.

    One of the most replayable cod's ever. It has a lot of content that will always keep you busy. It might not have a campaign but it will carry you through the weekend no problem.

    The addition of supply drops is horrible but does not affect the gameplay at all.

    They fixed a lot of stuff. The feel in the MP got much better, weapon balancing, score streaks, spawns and the audio in blackout is way better than before. Solid result.

    A fun game when it works, but with all the bugs, crashing and progress wipes, for a studio as experienced as Treyarch, is completely unacceptable. it's hard to shake the feeling that it's a game that was rebooted and rushed for release in 6 months, and the lack of quality is telling.

    I had been saying for months that I won't buy the new COD and waste my money, because I knew what it will be like... but I went ahead and brought it still anyway. And it confirmed my worst fears.     The graphics, the combat, the playing styles and gameplay, the glitches, the lack of a campaign etc. They have even ruined Zombies, which used to be COD's only saving grace, up until the past couple, which have been getting progressively worse. Zombies is now ridiculous, with too many far fetched spells and complex procedures that make it too overcomplicated to be worthwhile. It just feels like a big mess.

I'm not bad at this game by any means, I just don't like it or what COD has become, I really can't take this game seriously with the glowing pink camos, the constant sound effects and people jumping around corners, this isn't the gritty, somewhat realistic war game I once loved. In my opinion Treyarch are responsible for ruining COD with Black Ops 2, ever since that game its become catered to kids. If you grew up on COD4 avoid this game, it will only make you sad.… Expand

Since there is no single player campaign you could easily think that, "OK, they focused on purely the multiplayer experience". Bammm, you are wrong. The server tickrate is only 20Hz, so that you shoot someone with no armor to the head for like ages, he turns around, you are in a Lvl3 armor, and with an SMG thatI registered just to give a good advice for those who did not buy the game yet.     Shoot first die first. That is my overall impression of this game. It is apparently using the same server side low tick hit detection as the original quake engine it is built on. It favours bad connection and lag compensates anyone with good ping. The guys running around the map owning everything are not skilled they just have crappy internet.     As of right now, I feel that Black Ops 4 is just a 100GB-ish chunk of anger issues, and bad nights waiting to happen. I'd honestly already have deleted it if the Zombies mode was bad. Thank god it wasn't.    … Expand

    Ill start with the negatives. I dont enjoy the multiplayer, its just boring. I have enjoyed other cod multiplayers. Blackout is okay its a cool new addition, better than fortnite. The zombies are amazing. I love it. Its like more challenging and the maps are great. Zombies is so much fun.

I really like how Treyarch decided to cut off the Campaign since the previous Call of Duty games' campaign wasn't any good at all during the last couple of years.     Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is not a 1. Not even close.

    I'm not the biggest COD fan, I admit. I would honestly give this game a 7 or 7.5. All of its modes are always fun to play, whether it be blackout, multiplayer, or zombies. But I do find myself getting tired of playing them rather quickly, as some modes get repetitive. Granted, it's probably gonna something that I will come back to from time to time, whether it's to get a higher round on zombies, unlock more camos in multiplayer, or to get #1 in blackout. It also helps that I have many friends that enjoy the game and I play with almost daily.

    This is the first cod game i've played seriously since Black Ops 2 and I am absolutely loving this game so far. Definitely gonna play the **** out of this game for the next year (unless RDR2 eats my life away).    … Expand

This is the first CoD title I have purchased in at least five years and likely the last unless major improvements are made as there are a few elements in each mode which make them very frustrating to play. I primarily purchased this due to the Blackout mode so I will start there.

    In blackout you have only one life and a single fight can negate 20+ minutes worth of work and game play, this is the essence of any battle royale mode. The major issue with this mode is that they have not made the necessary adjustments to the equipment as it play extremely different than the normal multiplayer mode. The main culprit in this is the 9 bang grenade. If you are hit with one of these you are completely blind for multiple seconds. This works great in a game mode where you die and just respawn seconds later but a single item with a large area of effect that can essentially ensure your death has absolutely no place in a battle royale genre.

    Next we have multiplayer which, if you like regular CoD multiplayer, it may be okay for many players. The issue I have here is that sniper rifle, which are easier to hit with than in many other shooters, are an instant kill regardless of where you hit someone. In a game where the maps were all oddly designed to have many large hallways it leaves little room for other play styles and creates a frustrating gaming experience. Additionally, there is rampant hacking on the PC. It is not fun for anyone, except maybe the hacker, when an enemy is continuously jumping through the doorway, doing an instant 180 to an enemy player and landing 4 quick head shots before the player with the positional advantage can even react.

    The saving grace of this game for me is the Zombies mode but it does not come without its own issues. I love the idea that there are objectives available for each map to advance the story within each round and that getting through the entire story would take a mix of practice, memorization, and good gun play. The part that kind of ruins it, at least on the map I have had the time to delve into fairly deeply, is the addition of RNG and cheap mechanics to try and artificially increase the difficulty. I am referencing the finding the skull objective on IX. Why would you make an objective where, even if you know where the item you need can spawn and you are looking directly at it, the item is so difficult to see that you can still possibly miss it? This portion does not feel rewarding and just feels like a cheap way to "increase the difficulty" without actually putting any work into it. Everything else outside of that which I have experienced on that map feels difficult but doable but that is too much luck put into a task when you need to be nearly perfect to get through all the objectives, at least in two players.

    All in all there is a lot of room for improvement in all aspects of this game and I completely regret purchasing this game in its current state. Here is to hoping the developers listen to community feedback and improve this game so it is at least and enjoyable gaming experience for the majority.    … Expand

    I pre-ordered this game from Gamestop and paid for it. Now that I discovered that there is no single-player campaign, I will of course cancel my order. No sale. I am so disappointed right now, I had been waiting for this title for a long time. Shameful!

The last couple campaigns has not been good, and after BO3's campaign i didn't want another BO campaign, so im happy it got cut for blackout, which is one of the best things cod has ever done. The modes are very fun, especially the new ones like Heist and control, but DOM feels a bit campy and spawn trappy.
    Blackout is the most polished BR mode out there. The fun play is good, the vihecls are fun and the mode is very competitive.
    Zombies really hits it home for me. The maps are beautiful and they play very well. The mode has gotten a fresh take while still being treyarch zombies. it's a nice new perk system and the new elixirs are a polished and better gobbelgum system. The new Zombies is both Noob friendly and a challenge for the Hardcore players, because of the new difficulty system. The easter eggs are back and are okay but not the best they have been. The graphics are great and you become really immersed into the game. weapons are also really fun and good in zombies.

    This COD really deserves more praise, and not all the hate from the salty people because they took out a **** gamemode. If you really are so upset about it then why do you still buy the game. its dumb you're complaining but still riding activision as always.
    To end this off, this Cod is really fun and if you are in search of a good multiplayer game, then definitely buy this game.

U take out the campaign and add the horrible business practices that Actvision uses on top of all these issues and you have yourself one big flaming turd.     One point cause they got the name of the game correct. Been a gradual decline in what made this franchise great. COD4 had it in terms of great MP - MW2 hit the sweet spot, then came the decline. Thought the franchise had now slowly plateaued in terms of mediocre MP but BLOPS4 seems to have found a new level, sorry no, a sheer drop into the realm of laughable, unrecognisable COD.

    Treyarch should be embarrassed for releasing this "game". This is truly nothing more than a expansion pack. Most of the maps are rehash of other black ops games. As is the selection of the specialist at the start of the rounds. Would be nice to actually be able to equip grenades and use them when I actually wanted to.     Health regeneration is gone which is good because now health atleast gets a bit more tactical. Operators can now only picked by one team member which gives every operator an important role and more importance for the team. The weapons feel nice and have the right kick behind it, but there arent too many. Hopefully they add more, but it will be locked behind dlc because this is Activision.

    Zombie mode is were Treyarch keeps shining imo and while i havent played the zombie maps that much yet, i already like them.

    People clearly don't understand what are they talking about. From the beginning Treyarch told us about singleplayer. That they won't add it. But instead I was really surprised when i saw short background story's about characters of multiplayer. Plus if you want to get good story, you can easily go to Zombie mod, and play it. It has very strong and interesting plot.

    And the last part multiplayer. I've played WW2 and i can said that BO4 is too different.     This is a boring, less than same old same old, sad excuse for a COD game. It is an insult to the first person heritage and should be a 29.99 game on steam. All that negative cannot be be overcome by what is well written smooth, quick to load code. You can get into the action fast. Unfortunately there is not much action. To be honest I would rather play ET on ATARI then play this game.

    It's a great game in my opinion what i do not understand is how people give it bad ratings for it always being the same, then people giving it bad ratings because they're making changes since COD MW2
    Also: It is $60 even though it doesn't have a lot of features, but treyarch are always working to add on to it, there are some games with barely five hours of story with no online and get praised

The Multiplayer is super balanced and finally your aim highly affects the outcome of your gunfights as you have more health and it also reduces the risk of being randomly killed by bad luck. It's one of the few games where i mostly account for my own faults when losing as opposed to blaming the game for it's mechanics. The only bad thing I noticed was that it seems you can sometimes still be killed when already in cover behind a wall, but that has been around in COD since a long time.
    Of course it's unfortunate that the game does not have campaign as it could have been a perfect opportunity to further extend the Black Ops storyline, but in the end it does not really matter. The Multiplayer AND Zombies is great fun, maybe it is not for everyone but for my part i really love it and therefore rate it as 9/10 cause there still might be a couple negative aspects + no campaign but Treyarch really did a good job.    … Expand

    I've briefly played zombies XI map twice. Im not an Easter egg hunter but had a blast figuring out the basics of the map and blowing zombies to bits. Oh and there are 2 other maps included as well with its own standalone progression system from blackout and multiplayer.

    Multiplayer feels right again. It feels like where the series should have progressed after bo2 instead of the future setting and movement we got for a while. The best way i can describe how it feels is black ops 2, mixed with some bo3 elements. The maps are some of the best i've experienced in a long time. The killstreaks feel powerful when you earn them....... i'm looking at you ww2....... and the manual healing system adds extra strategy into your gameplay. And it becomes muscle memory real quick.

    Honestly don't let the 0 reviews scare you. Its obviously not a 0 by any stretch of the imagination. Although there are some balancing issues in multiplayer and blackout, they will get fixed and forgotten about. If you're a big fan of cod, like i am, l then i think there is a lot to love here.     Now onto my personal review of the game. It's great! I feel like Call of Duty is finally (getting) back to its roots. Sure it is still based in the future a bit but not like other COD games we have seen. No more exo-skeleton, no more wall running, no more flying or double jumping. We are finally back to boots on the ground action and grit.

    Again, we are (getting) back to what the COD franchise used to be and it feels so good! Multiplayer is solid and so far I haven't had any issues.

    If you are looking for a Call of Duty that brings you back home and makes you feel good about the game again, pick this one up. I have owned practically every one of them up to this one and can finally say that this game is getting back to its roots as it should.

    Again, don't like Battle Royal and want a campaign? Don't buy the game, simple as that. But leaving a review for a game that you did no research on and then purchased and hated, I have no sympathy for you.    … Expand

    This game could have been so much better. For 60$ price tag this game needs way more content. It needs more guns, maps, and character customization. This however does not excuse the fact that their is no campaign. The constant jumping by players in multiplayer can be infuriating. The multiplayer needs more game modes and playlists. The heist and control modes are "newest" modes but these are literally CSGO and overwatch rip-offs. If i bought this game for 40$ this game would be more like 7 or 8 out of 10, but for a fully priced triple A i expected more and better. If I were you I would wait until they fix this game, add more content, and for a price cut. Oh and before i forget, The UI is TRASH… Expand

Maybe because the Black Ops 3 campaign fell it was a disappointment compared to the Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2, or even World at War. Or Treyarch focused too much on the multiplayer component that ran out of time for more. Regardless of the reason, Black Ops 4 has no single-player component, but in contrast, the biggest focus on multiplayer is made to feel positively throughout the game.

    Starting with the main novelty, Blackout is Black Ops 4's Battle Royale mode. For those unfamiliar with this, it's a way that puts 95 players against each other on a massive map filled with well-known locations in the series. The player may choose to play in teams of four, of two or else test their ability on solo. Depending on certain factors, it may be difficult to find players at the beginning due to the size of the map, but fortunately the safety zones will make encounters with opponents players more frequent. If we want to have more characters in Blackout, we have to complete the requirements of each character. Despite the amount of frustration due to my failures and my lack of luck, I confess that this Blackout was a pleasant surprise and is undoubtedly a good Battle Royale mode.

    Although it doesn't have a single-player campaign, the game provides us with Substories about Specialists and these events take place between Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. It isn't really a substitute for a real campaign, but it serves to pause the competitive aspect. And speaking of a competitive aspect, before embarking on the multiplayer of Black Ops 4, it is necessary to choose the specialist class. Scarlett Rhodes, Bruno Delacroix, Diego Becalli and Stanton Shaw are among the characters we will use in Voyage of Despair and IX, while Blood of the Dead is represented by Edward Richtofen, Tank Dempsey Takeo Masaki and Nikolai Belinski.

    Don't think it's just killing enemies in this Zombies mode. There are several challenges for the player to complete, such as obtaining certain rare weapons or finding easter eggs on a specific map. Overall, Treyarch has made some changes to this Zombie mode, but without drastically changing what fans like so much in this mode.     Blackout was pretty good to me. I haven't really gotten into the Battle Royal phenomena the last couple of years, but I did buy PUBG and have donated dozens of hours into Fortnite trying to force myself to liking it. The reason I give Blackout my thumbs-up is because it feels more like a legitimate shooter that both PUBG and Fortnite couldn't really do. Although I have now put in about a dozen hours into Blackout, it seems I will never fully feel passionate about a Battle Royal gamemode. It's fun every once in a while, but not why I play FPS games.

    Multiplayer is where I am conflicted. Ran into very few errors this past 6 days, other than network errors, but still ahead of most games in this league on opening week. Treyarch has completely ditched the wall-running and double-jumps, and that's how I like it. I got pretty competitive with BlOps3, so I got used to the movement there, but I now know this is what I prefer. As for the classes... meh. They really feel unfocused. To keep classes in a game like this balanced, you gotta be all in or not at all, and it felt like Treyarch went in half-way. It also feels like they are trying to add some "teamwork" and tactics in a game that is primarily a twitch-shooter. There is a game-mode like Counterstrike where you lose your abilities and just buy better guns and perks as the matches go on, but I kind of doubt there will always be a big pool of players lasting on that. Collision still seems a bit off, which makes me think this will never be a highly game for me as it's not sharp enough. But I had a good time. Just don't think I'll be playing this game at all in six months... So overall, do feel like a 7 out of 10 fits this game about right. I'll also be purchasing Battlefield V, so time will tell which one I will like more.

    I will say that buying this game on disc opening day really accentuates the growing problem with our modern physical game-copies: even with the disc, I had to download somewhere close to 90 GB over my internet connection. I imagine that size will grow as the game goes through updates. Since you can't pick what downloads first, I was only able to play Blackout that first night. I think it's almost time that physical game-copies need to start coming as some sort of solid-state drives that wouldn't require downloading the entire game to the system's SSD.    … Expand

    Well, on to CoD Black Ops 4. In short its awesome. I never pay for games full price and I never was into the Battle Royale style of gaming. Blops 4 succeeds in this. Black Out is tons of fun and gives Call of Duty new life. The map is huge and will hit the nostalgia nerve for long time fans of the series. The use of med packs is refreshing and so are the vehicles. Its flawless and the mechanics are smooth.

    The online multiplayer is great as usual with staples like Team Death Match and the new (?) Heist mode. Zombies is zombies which is a great thing. Its always been one of the reasons I play Call of Duty.

    The fact that there is no campaign makes no difference to me. They stated from the get go that there will be none and lets be honest, the campaigns were never the focal point of Call of Duty. Its all about online. In short, if you're a fan of the series go get it you wont be disappointed. If you are a troll who is bored at home and want to hate something they have no intentions on playing, go play something different. Don't game shame somebody.

    Just stay away from Black Ops 4. Before the game was announced I was extremely excited as the rumors whirled about a modern setting and possibly the continuation of the Woods storyline. However, that was ditched for a battle royale mode, something no CoD fan has ever asked for. In other words, this is a p*ss-poor excuse for a video game, much less a serious entry in the Call of Duty franchise. So, if I were you, I would hold off on this one, maybe stick with Black Ops 3 or, perhaps, just stay away from the CoD franchise either until it can get it's sh*t straight, or until it comes to a close.… Expand

It's the same crap, It's COD, boring, instant death garbage, with mediocre graphics.. I really wanted to like the Battle Royale mode but it's the same thing.. Stock up on your guns and ammo, and then it's camp city until the end of match. Oh well, at least BF5I hadn't played a Call of Duty game in a long time, so I decided to give this a try thinking it would be a new experience.. Well..     What a let down! So there's Blackout (which is a rip off of Fortnite), a few different types of multiplayer, and zombies... that's it. No campaign, and IMO boring multiplayer. What a waste of $60. I'm hoping I can con some other poor soul into buying it off of me on Craigslist or FB.

    Man where to start I guess the main issue is the missing content that I feel that should be in the flipping game again back in the day they had a mode called Ground War and I feel as though they **** up not having it in the game and I know the game can handle it being Blackout has 88 players in it.     The Twitch streamer Avoidthingpuddle says it the best on the whole camping subject so find that clip on YT.

    You kill 2-3 players then heal up and run into a building for cover and low and behold some dip stick in the corner with a shotty that blows you away cause you have no more armor and they have been sitting there for 5+ mins to kill someone walking into the door or window. I've played many Battle Royal games and CoD seems to have it the worse for the camping DISGUSTING. Little chubby cheek kids camping cause they can't handle conflict.

    Another thing I hated about Blackout is the normal spawn of a rocket launchers gotta love dropping out of the chopper to just get rocketed from a building across the way while your fighting another player or two for the goodies. Like make rockets in supply drops only as it causes major imbalance at the start of the game. Thats why certain games have a lock out to certain weapons appearing only in Supply Drops.

    Next I wanna talk about the multiplayer as a whole the combat is really **** I feel there matchmaking algorithm is to place players that are starting out with people that are pros or have 40+ hours in the game already that just man handle you every turn of the way. They have a **** Copy paste system from black ops 3 the whole operator idea is TRASH. Rainbow Six Siege just does that whole idea better.

    The only real mode I found fun on this game was Heist. They really killed this game and its potential to being a game that kills PubG.

    The only thing this game has on top of pubg is the performance and hardly any lag.

    This is not a 10 out of 10 game so please if you are reading the 10 out of 10 reviews ignore them. This game is easily a 4-6 outta 10 if that.    … Expand

    -- Bad server issues, don't know if they released to early, but connection and sync issues made playing with friends a moot point. -- Horrendous frame-rate drops, and i only played with 3 others!! -- Graphics from Black ops 1 -- Weapons feel clunky and just overall un real.     Blackout is a solid Battle Royale mode with CoD shooting (the shooting in PUBG & Fortnite just doesn't feel good to me). I tried out Zombies and it was fun, but not really my thing. For those that like Zombies, it seems like it will provide a lot of fun with three maps.

    Multiplayer was a little longer for me to warm up to. I didn't understand at first that picking a hero was different from picking a class. IMO, the pre-made Class #1 is terrible. Once I realized I could change class, I found one that worked for me and quickly shot up to Level 5, where I could start creating my own class. Multiplayer still took some getting used to. I think only Battery lets you have a grenade (until you unlock grenades somewhere in the Level 40's). Coming from years of dealing with grenade spam, it was weird to both not worry about grenades and not have one to throw to where I knew people were camping. Each hero/operator has two special abilities. Some of these are quite good, and some just make me wonder what I don't understand about how to use them, because they shouldn't be that unbalanced.
    One thing that is annoying, there are already people who have a sniper rifle setup, where they can quick zoom, not be on you, and one shot kill you in the body through body armor. That's something I still hate about CoD, especially when they can do it close range.

    I enjoyed playing the CoD campaigns in previous games, but I don't miss it here. It could be that there are so many good single player games, and I was craving a fun multiplayer, but I am not sure.

    In summary, if you fell off CoD, this is a good one to get back in.    … Expand

    Very enjoyable game. Loving zombies with friends. The multiplayer is fun and Blackout is far and above PUBG. I can't see how any battle royale will beat it.

    Perfect stop gap until fallout 76/rdr2 comes out.

    I think the 0 reviews are pretty harsh. Either angry fans, or pubg/fortnite kids i imagine.

    It’s not that I can’t respect it — it seems to offer decent value in that it’s essentially three different types of shooter in one package, but aside from the new Blackout mode, I’ve had significantly better experiences from many of its competitors. And honestly, Blackout’s main competition is a free-to-play game. It may be better than Fortnite in my opinion, but sixty dollars better? I’m not entirely convinced about that, and without a decent singleplayer campaign attached, it’s a pretty hard sell for anyone who isn’t already a fan.

    Despite its generic title Black Ops IV feels like a fresh start for Call of Duty. The multiplayer and the zombie mode is very much the same as always, but with Blackout, Treyarch takes everything that is good with Player Unknown's Battleground and makes it better.
