First Call of Duty game I've bough in maybe 10 years.. I fell outta love with the horrible groundhog day style multiplayer... I dig its jumped on the Battle Royal bandwagon but gotta say they pulled it off... fills the gap if you want something a little more serious than fortnite but not quite a sim like as Pubg.

The first COD I’ve liked since 4.

It’s all about Battle Royale, which is the best one yet! I only dock it because of the lack of Single Player, I wouldn’t mind if the name was different, but carrying the Black Ops name is a bit odd.

The main complaint about this game is no campaign. It was announced before the release that there would be NO campaign. Therefore, all these 1's and 0's hold no merit. This is probably the best ONLINE CoD since WaW. If you are looking for a single player game then this game obviously isn't for you. However, adding Blackout has given players another option to remove the monotony.

The next FPS level of innovation we'll see will probably come from ProjektCDRed's Cyberpunk... but that's an FPS-RPG.... which is totally different, but which, seeing what is happening to other franchises (namely Assassin's Creed), is probably where Blops is eventually headed. In other words - SUPER CUSTOMIZATION.

Zombies are back in form. And Black Ops is grounded again, but due to the pace, there's this odd sensation that one is still "flying"....... or is that just me? And I spotted more than enough people jumping while shooting to know that they felt they just HAD to. Something I didn't see in WWII.

The big deal is its own Battle Royale. It's the best there is right now, no question about it, and not just in visuals. Naturally, it is trying to become the king of BR on hardcore platforms, while leaving the mobile market to Fortnite, which is king there. And I think it may just succeed.

Game looks good. No, it is not "just like Blops 3;" there are improvements. Go compare them side by side and you'll see. If anything, it has about the same graphics as Infinite Warfare, but better than WWII. And yeah... it's not going to look better than Battlefield 1 OR V. It can't. That game takes forever to load for good reason. This is a fast-paced game. Let's just drop the argument already. This is like arguing a luxury sedan vs a sports car.... it's stupid.

Multiplayer is still where I spend most of my time, and for me it's a win this time around. I like that they brought back those 4 old maps, and I actually like the Blops 1 and 2 similarities of the newer maps. Someone at Treyarch has realized those games had the best maps, and they finally picked up on it.

We can all agree that the Call of Duty series is very repetitive, and this game is no exception, but that doesn't mean it is bad, the Battle Royal is fun, the Zombies mode is engaging and fast paced, and the multiplayer has all of the gamemodes the series is known for.

This is the first COD game from MW2 that I liked. It has it own problems and cons, but still game is really fun. So major problem as for me is balancing of ranking match. Second big problem of this game is visuals (and design in general). Graphics is OK for me in, but if you compare to other games (i.e. Destiny 2 from the same Activision) it doesn't look that great. But design of characters and some maps is awful. Everything vivid, colorful, blinking and flashing. What's work with Fortnite, doesn't work with COD. Looks like mental hospital in amusement park.
But like this game for other reasons:
    1) Blackout mode - first battle royal that I liked, it is well balanced, good paced and runs perfect on PS4. I played PUBG (PC) and H1Z1 (PS4) and non of them was that good.
    2) Ranking match - i was expecting to see R6S, but it feels like BO2 with Overwatch and this is good. Bigger TTK makes game more fun than usually and encourages you to act bravely. Units are different from each other and allows you to make experiments.
    3) Zombie mode - I don't know, I don't play games like these.

Some people complain about absence of story mode, but this is one of the biggest pros.
Previous games was stupid as fu*k and everyone knew it, but didn't want to admit.
So, if you haven't played BO4, but you like R6S, Overwatch, older parts of COD or good Battle royal, be sure this game you'll definitely like

I don't know about you guys but i have not played a call of duty campaign since modern warfare 3. Not that some of the past campaigns were terrible, its just that if i wanted to play a campaign/story game i would play something like God of War or Last of Us not a story from call of duty since "war" stories get repetitive. If you bought a $60 call of duty game in the past just for its campaign then you "screwed" yourself over. Yes black ops has an overly expensive price tag but it has lots to offer through multiplayer, zombies, and blackout. I was a little hesitant at first to buy BO4 because i was not on the battle royale bandwagon (did not like building in fortnite and am old school multiplayer). After i tried multiplayer and blackout i knew I would enjoy the game more then i thought i would. I agree that it was lazy to remake old maps and count it in as the release day maps for multiplayer but the 4 maps they chose to remake had me reminiscing about past black ops games. Zombies has had my attention since the first black ops and i have only ever played black ops zombies since they are the most creative and intense zombies experience. black ops 4 zombies exceeded my expectations and they proved that they put a lot of work into the new story and gameplay. Zombies is much more customizable this time around. Difficulty settings along with other things make it so a beginner can pick up and play and not worry about being "bad" zombies player. Multiplayer is fluid and offers one of the best online shooter experiences at this time. Not once was i kicked out of a lobby or disconnected from a game, which has happened in past call of duty releases. The thing i like about the black ops franchise is that they really listen to the community. A lot of people (including myself) did not like the jetpack boosts going on in BO3 which is why BO4 stuck to boots on the ground. I also am convinced BO4 will be supported for the next 2-3 years just like BO3 was and that is a good feeling to have on a game you spent $60 on. Finally Blackout...I was very nervous about Call of Duty treading into the battle royale scene. I cant say this enough that black ops was for sure the one to pull it off. Not only did they get the battle royale formula correct but they did in a way that was fun easy to learn while keeping true to black ops gameplay. I gave the game a 8/10 for using old maps as fillers for multiplayer and that splitscreen was a disappointment since it condenses the screen and you have to squint to even see an enemy when playing on the same screen with a friend. Overall the call of duty era that included campaigns/stories are over because of the new generation of gamers today. everything is online and fast paced now which is what call of duty is adapting too. Black ops 4 offers a little bit for everyone and to those not buying a game for the lack of a campaign are missing out on a fantastic first person shooter experience. Expand

At the moment there are no loot boxes in the, all camos are challenge based and I hope it stays that way, I prefer challenge based progression and feel it gives the game a simpler feel to your personal player objectives over the newer games. The maps are really good, one of my biggest complaints with bo3 was the maps but bo4 has great maps that feel like old school black ops or bo2. Specialists are back, never liked them I don't feel like the things we're shooting should have much personality or individuality if they're meant to be expendable I much prefer the random grunt soldier look from bo2 or other old cods. The specialists are at least not extremely over powered as they can usually counter each other but specialists don't hold a major impact on the outcome of the match rather than your skill as a player. Black out is good, like really good. Feels like a battle royal made by cod shpuld feel. Pubg on consoles is pretty much obsolete now I'd say, black out blows it out of the water. Zombies feels weird this year but since that's treyarchs baby I'm assuming they'll fix it so I'll hold back for now on that. Overall I've hated every cod after bo2 and finally they release one that I really like. I never review games, I'm usually very harsh on cod every year when it comes out but this one has blown my expections so I figured I should review it. Don't listen to the people giving 0s for uninspiration, this cod game appeals mostly to old time players the game does a great job of bringing back that "good ol day bo1 bo2 feel" Expand

I personally didn't play much of the previous Zombies, but based on other sites, it looks like they've beefed it up considerably with more play styles, 2 storylines, and 3 maps.

Finally there is Blackout which is very similar to PUBG, but stable. They've added perks (time limited when in use) to find as well. The map includes locations of previous COD games. They've also got a fun area with zombies that they threw into the mix. The additions work quite well and doesn't take away from the Battle Royale experience.

As with any new game, there are some tweaks that need to be made. Bad respawns in multiplayer. The base game is the standard $60, but I spent $100 for the deluxe digital edition. I also had to purchase Playstation Plus. So be prepared to spend some money at the get go if this is your first go around with COD.

I haven't seen a DLC ever worth the $30/$40, and my expectations are low for BO4 to be any different. If Treyarch is going to join the Battle Royale realm, I expect consistent content updates similar to Fortnite. But as I've said, my expectations are low.

If you are a fan of multiplayer gaming, you'll enjoy this game. $60 is ok to spend on this especially if you don't typically play with friends. If you do, then expect to put money down for the DLC as well unless you expect all your friends to never go beyond the base game. I enjoy it. I play on my own and sometimes with friends. Spending $160 (Deluxe + PS Plus) hurt, and although there is decent amount of content on the DLC, I hope for content updates for all players for at least Blackout. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

I picked up Black Ops 4, because I was in a gaming rut. After Spider-Man, I had no desire to play another open world or brawler style game. Blops 4 has been really fun and enjoyable.

Blackout is a solid Battle Royale mode with CoD shooting (the shooting in PUBG & Fortnite just doesn't feel good to me). I tried out Zombies and it was fun, but not really my thing. For those that like Zombies, it seems like it will provide a lot of fun with three maps.

Multiplayer was a little longer for me to warm up to. I didn't understand at first that picking a hero was different from picking a class. IMO, the pre-made Class #1 is terrible. Once I realized I could change class, I found one that worked for me and quickly shot up to Level 5, where I could start creating my own class. Multiplayer still took some getting used to. I think only Battery lets you have a grenade (until you unlock grenades somewhere in the Level 40's). Coming from years of dealing with grenade spam, it was weird to both not worry about grenades and not have one to throw to where I knew people were camping. Each hero/operator has two special abilities. Some of these are quite good, and some just make me wonder what I don't understand about how to use them, because they shouldn't be that unbalanced.
One thing that is annoying, there are already people who have a sniper rifle setup, where they can quick zoom, not be on you, and one shot kill you in the body through body armor. That's something I still hate about CoD, especially when they can do it close range.

I enjoyed playing the CoD campaigns in previous games, but I don't miss it here. It could be that there are so many good single player games, and I was craving a fun multiplayer, but I am not sure.

In summary, if you fell off CoD, this is a good one to get back in.

Specialists are fun, some fit certain play styles better than others but I don't think any are overpowered. Haven't played a ton of Blackout and zombies, as I'm not super into BR type games and zombies has become a bit much for me, but what I have played of each they are very well done and fun to play. The thing that knocks it down for me is the Black Market track, I wish they had some sort of skill based challenges similar to contracts and orders in WW2 (that don't cost CP) to keep some sense of progression or challenge going. I haven't gotten the pass yet and undecided if I will, 50$ seems like a lot to pay for what is essentially access to 12 maps (since I don't play zombies). I get that it's a way to prevent the player base split that inevitably happens with DLC but it's just a little steep for me. My mood could change quickly if they end up adding in more content or there's a sale. All in all his is the most fun I've had with a FPS since BO2 and don't let all of the negative user reviews about the lack of campaign cause you to hesitate if you're a fan of the series. Expand

I think this game is getting way to much hate. I'm sure people played the campaign, but not that many people. Multiplayer was always the COD experience. They brought solid maps, solid gun play, relatively balanced characters and guns. That made up a pretty good experience. I will break down my review into each multiplayer mode.

    Battle Royal/Blackout:

I think the BR in BO4 is some of the best we've seen so far, things can still be improved though. Progression is probably the worst thing in Blackout, but this can be improved with a simple patch. Takes a long time to unlock stuff as-is. Gun play is tight and feels responsive. I never felt like I was unfairly killed. Overall 8/10 (Minor bug fixes and better progression would make it a 10)

    Multiplayer:

I spent the most of my time playing various modes in the multiplayer. in my 30ish hours I never noticed any weapon being overpowered, everything had its place. Progression is rewarding, unlocking things like skins or new weapons is very natural (once every couple games) and you always have something to look forward to. The customization of weapons is probably my favorite part, ALL guns feel different. Overall (10/10)

    Zombies:

Probably the worst part of the game. Coming out with one map (and another blocked behind a paywall), though fun made the game feel pretty repetitive. Difficulty is there and playing with friends is a blast. Once they add more maps, it will be a lot better. Overall (7/10)

Conclusion... I can't comment on micro transactions as the game has none yet. It's something to keep an eye on. The $60 you spend on the game, as of this moment is worth it. Overall (8/10)

Keep in mind, this is my opinion and mine alone!

Best COD on the PS4 in my opinion. Only issues with this game as of now is the 150 health and the poor design of the original maps and the perks not providing any real differences. I have no problem with them bringing back the OG maps like summit and firing range but the original maps of this game are pretty non memorable...

Multiplayer: 7.5/10 (Takes longer to kill which is a bad thing to campers. Treyarch you did a good thing. Then the game gives us these bad updates.)
Zombies - Chaos: 10/10 (Launches with 2 Chaos maps which is amazing! Maps are well designed, and have great content and easter eggs.)
Zombies - Aether: 6.5/10 (Not that great. Should've ended the story in BO3. Maps are not that great.)

Black Ops 4 is one of the best Call of Duty games to date. The game plays almost flawlessly, and despite it not having a single player campaign still offers lots of content including the new Battle Royale mode Blackout. Black Ops 4 has a few rough edges, but any of its three modes make for an enjoyable shooter experience that feel distinct.

Specialist HQ is just horrible. I don't know why Treyarch wasted dev time adding this garbage tutorial to the game. They didn't even go back and add specialist tutorials for the new specialists they'd add post-launch, so it's overall a pointless mode.

MP is extremely smooth and fluid. The gunplay and movement is some of the best in the franchise, and the player visibility is amazing. The TTK, the maps, the guns and progression are all stellar. However, the Multiplayer feels less like Call of Duty and more like Overwatch. The hero shooter elements return from Black Ops 3, and they somehow made it worse. The Specialist abilities actually break the balance of the game, and they take absolutely no skill to use. On top of that, the SMGs, the Maddox, the ICR, and the Titan are significantly more overpowered than the other guns in the roster.

Zombies is mediocre. This iteration of the mode is for the hardcore of the hardcore. If you hate the new style that BO3 Zombies had, you'll hate this game even more because they doubled down on it. But, how is that a bad thing? BO3 Zombies is universally loved. Well, they made this game so unbelievably complicated you'd need to look up a guide to play 6 out of the 8 available maps. On top of that, the perk system is a complete downgrade from what once was. Spawning in with your specialist and four hit points made the game too easy. The Easter Eggs for the most part were all gameplay disasters. BotD and Voyage are the best examples of terrible Easter Eggs in this game.

Blackout was good, but it failed due to it not being free. If it were free, it would've stood a chance in the BR market.

Overall, Black Ops 4 is a good game. The gameplay is extremely solid, and the art style is visually appealing. If you're a hardcore, this game was made with you in mind. Casuals, be aware that this game will be a nightmare for you.

It's almost as if this game was intended to be black ops 3, and they flip flopped iterations with 4. I mean it's literally the same specialists, with one new generic ability. and some that are score streaks in other cod... The maps are cluttered and feel like mazes, one thing all other black ops has are open maps whether medium or large. I also feel like the guns have the same blueprints as other black ops guns, they just renamed them and made them sound different.. (ak?.. skorpion like smg?). Bottomline is you've seen 75%-90% of the game before in previous iterations. I'll skip reviewing blackout, never been a fan...but..um.. campers..getting shot from behind..so yeah. So while I’m having a blast in Blackout on the gamefly rental, I’m definitely not buying just for that. Gone are the confusing and unnecessary gameplay gimmicks of the last few installments and back are the simple symmetric and asymmetric maps with killstreaks and no enhanced mobility. I am not the most skilled COD player but I felt that I could hold my own in most game types.
Balancing seems to be much better in this game than previous installments but it still has its issues. If you are someone who is not a fan of leveling up in order to get more powerful guns and better attachments, you will be disappointed, as this staple mechanic is still present. It is not as bad as it has been in previous games but it is still noticeable. However, as I stated earlier balancing is much better and new players will notice that the barrier to entry is much lower than it has been in the past.
Personally, I have never been a fan of the class system and limited the classes I can use to a specific hero, which only two players per team can choose, which also come with their specific abilities. I feel that there is some major rebalancing needed in this aspect and it is a big turnoff for me. I would prefer to not have them at all honestly. But that is about it for the core multiplayer portion of the game.

    Blackout:
Blackout is a ton of fun personally. It is much easier to jump into Blackout for those who are new to battle royal games compared to the other options. Gunplay feels tight and fair, there has never been an instance where I lost a battle and felt like I was cheated in some way. Customization is very limited and most skins are locked behind some very difficult challenges or unrealistically large time-sink requirements. If I am being honest Blackout, in my mind, plays a lot more like Halo than Call of Duty. It is slower paced, it has much more focus on map and power weapon control and communication is necessary for team success. I really enjoy it and it is a very different experience than the classic COD experience. They invested a lot of time into the mode, and while it may not be for everyone, it is definitely a welcome addition.

    Zombies:
As for zombies, I do not have much to say. It's zombies. Map expansion and character dialog do feel much more meaningful and IX specifically has been a blast to play. The maps themselves are pretty creative and unique but still contain the staple zombies gameplay loop. On that same note, I do wish there was some more innovation to the game. There are much more meaningful story elements as I noted earlier and some levels have unique challenges in the form of different zombie types and some bosses and mini-bosses but that is about it. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to play, but with how many zombie installments we've had, I really wish there was more that made this one stand out.

    Conclusion:
Overall Black Ops 4 is a fine game. The campaign will be missed. (However with how poorly received they have been lately, maybe it is better we didn't get one in the Black Ops storyline). The multiplayer is as fun and fastpaced as it has ever been and balancing, while still not where I should be, is much better. Simplified gameplay has made a welcome return and overall the game is of a decent quality. I stopped taking COD seriously after Black Ops 2 and this game has brought me back into the fold, a commendable feat, considering the many alternatives that are currently in the market. If you miss the old Call of Duty, I suggest giving Black Ops 4 a shot, but maybe try it before buying if possible, it's not for everyone.

It is more about core gameplay modes, about "that" feel and pace and that step backward seems right to me. I get that some players might not like it, and that some think there's still too much sci-fi going on. I like it. I do miss a single-player campaign though, which has been sacrificed for the focus of online multiplayer, which is what this game is all about. It's still character-based abilities with a familiar customisation of weapons and gadgets. The maps are all really good and updates keep coming. You get cosmetics like skins, camouflage and stickers by normal gameplay progress, as long as events are up, and most look really good. It's a solid buy which you at least should get at a seasonal discount at this point, especially if you and your friends plan on getting something new to play.

I'm not a hardcore try hard player, but I've been playing most of these games, and Black Ops 4 is breath of fresh air. Not the sensation of that time when we all played Modern Warfare 2, but a nod towards that time saying "Ok, yeah we're stepping back a bit to resemble that". I found it easier to play as a senior player too, maybe because of the exclusion of wall-running and all that, but also because of how you still can get top Killstreaks with a little bit of luck and good effort. So, if you liked the old games, this flirts with you.

(Also, there's Blackout. Which is a battle royale setup. I've only played it a handfull of times and twas a new experience for me. Quite fun. I haven't played much Fortnite, PUBG or whatever so I can't compare that much, but from what I hear through my friends they really like it by comparison. My review here aims towards the core gameplay, playing mostly Domination, Team Deathmatch and the usual stuff.)

The game skips the single-player campaign and just offers some tutorial levels with all the specialists with little cut-scenes spliced here and there. CoD campaigns have just been a formality for me personally, so I wasn't affected by that choice.

Blackout was pretty good to me. I haven't really gotten into the Battle Royal phenomena the last couple of years, but I did buy PUBG and have donated dozens of hours into Fortnite trying to force myself to liking it. The reason I give Blackout my thumbs-up is because it feels more like a legitimate shooter that both PUBG and Fortnite couldn't really do. Although I have now put in about a dozen hours into Blackout, it seems I will never fully feel passionate about a Battle Royal gamemode. It's fun every once in a while, but not why I play FPS games.

Multiplayer is where I am conflicted. Ran into very few errors this past 6 days, other than network errors, but still ahead of most games in this league on opening week. Treyarch has completely ditched the wall-running and double-jumps, and that's how I like it. I got pretty competitive with BlOps3, so I got used to the movement there, but I now know this is what I prefer. As for the classes... meh. They really feel unfocused. To keep classes in a game like this balanced, you gotta be all in or not at all, and it felt like Treyarch went in half-way. It also feels like they are trying to add some "teamwork" and tactics in a game that is primarily a twitch-shooter. There is a game-mode like Counterstrike where you lose your abilities and just buy better guns and perks as the matches go on, but I kind of doubt there will always be a big pool of players lasting on that. Collision still seems a bit off, which makes me think this will never be a highly game for me as it's not sharp enough. But I had a good time. Just don't think I'll be playing this game at all in six months... So overall, do feel like a 7 out of 10 fits this game about right. I'll also be purchasing Battlefield V, so time will tell which one I will like more.

I will say that buying this game on disc opening day really accentuates the growing problem with our modern physical game-copies: even with the disc, I had to download somewhere close to 90 GB over my internet connection. I imagine that size will grow as the game goes through updates. Since you can't pick what downloads first, I was only able to play Blackout that first night. I think it's almost time that physical game-copies need to start coming as some sort of solid-state drives that wouldn't require downloading the entire game to the system's SSD.

Ill start with the negatives. I dont enjoy the multiplayer, its just boring. I have enjoyed other cod multiplayers. Blackout is okay its a cool new addition, better than fortnite. The zombies are amazing. I love it. Its like more challenging and the maps are great. Zombies is so much fun.

Black Ops 4 as a whole offers something for everyone: competitive multiplayer, battle royale, and zombies, and that's its really only selling point is content. The game comes with 16 maps at release compared to the normal 13, three zombies maps instead of one, and of course battle royale. The game comes with 16 maps at release compared to the normal 13, three zombies maps instead of one, and of course battle royale. But, all this extra multiplayer content comes at the expense of a single player campaign.

As for multiplayer, outside of a few changes to health and specialists, there's nothing new, and the changes aren't exactly for the better or may not appeal to the casual audience. The changes made such as the removal of auto health regeneration and only allowing one of each specialist per team may turn off the casual player base. Streaks are copied from previous titles with nothing new or exciting. The maps follow the same three lane design that has been overused throughout recent titles making them bland and repetitive. BO4 multiplayer does enough to separate itself from previous entries, but whether these changes are good or not have yet to be seen.

CoD finally has battle royale, Blackout. The mode itself is well done, but it does nothing for the battle royale genre itself copying mostly from PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. It does have some unique gimmicks though to help it standout such as famous maps from previous Black Ops titles, Black Ops campaign and zombie characters, and even a few zombie locations with AI zombies that you have to deal with, but as for adding and expanding the BR genre, it does nothing special. Overall, it's an enjoyable BR experience due to its optimization and performance. Casual fans that may not have enjoyed PUBG and other hardcore BR games may enjoy Blackout far more than other hardcore battle royales while still offering a somewhat serious FPS that may pull fans away from the silly and cartoon themed Fortnite BR., but hardcore BR fans may still prefer the realism of PUBG or the uniqueness of Fortnite more. But overall, it's an enjoyable experience that you will definitely sink your time into if you are into battle royales.

Zombies has been my favorite experience of BO4 so far. Offering the most maps at release than any other CoD, zombies is going to pull in the CoD zombies fan base hard. The mode is definitely more difficult than previous zombie modes which may turn off the casual fan base that grew in love with BO3 and IW zombies, but I welcome the challenge of bettering myself at the mode.

CoD continues to still push the Season Pass, however, in the form of the Black Ops Pass. The Black Ops Pass offers a bonus zombies map at release in Classified which is a remake of Five from Black Ops 2 and 12 multiplayer maps, 4 less than the usual Season Pass, while still maintaining the $50 price tag. It also includes character skins for Blackout BR. If you are a zombies fan then the BOP will definitely be worth it, but fans of multiplayer are stuck with 4 less maps than usual in the least hyped mode of the game. As for Blackout fans, it only offers skins. So unless you are a zombies fan, the Black Ops Pass does not seem worth it.

As a whole, Black Ops 4 is a decent entry into the CoD franchise. It does enough to pull in the battle royale and zombies fans, but fans of multiplayer have been given the short end of the stick with campaign fans left with nothing but specialist training missions. I give Multiplayer a 6/10, Blackout a 7/10, and zombies an 8/10 for a combined score of 7/10.

I would give this game 7.8 out of 10.

I have been playing CoD since its first inception on the PC. After playing the SP I quickly became addicted to the MP aspect of the game. Joining up into clans and having my first taste of competitive gaming was amazing. I loved that I could mod the game to my liking and customize what I wanted in general servers.

The first take away I have with BO4 is that it plays very well on the PC. More so then the last few CoD games. Everything feels natural and I can react accordingly which is great.

The multiplayer feels like a more polished BO3 with references to past BO games. A few of the new maps do feel a bit like repeated versions of other CoD maps though unfortunately.

Updated specialists' abilities and the way you can heal yourself are a good upgrade to the core game.

While Blackout is very polished and retains CoD's signature gunplay, it lacks in bringing any innovation to the already saturated game mode.

The graphics are as good as to be expected. There is nothing that really stands out and feels dated.

The sound design is excellent though. A few corrections here or there and I would say they are perfect for a game like this.

I will admit I have never been a fan of zombies but I do like the 3 campaigns they have. I actually got into them a bit more then I use to. I don't want to say much else or criticize because I know the mode has never been my favorite.

The lack of an SP campaign is the major draw back for a CoD game calling itself BO4.

If they would have just called it, BLACK OPS X... or ULTIMATE BLACK OPS... or seriously anything else I could have been okay with it. There is a VERY small storyline they have that lasts for about 15 minutes through cutscenes that are mixed with bot matches but that is it.

Black Ops had a great storyline going and to say this is its predecessor … even given the multiplayer is just going to far.

Black Ops 4 is almost like a best of all the Black Ops... but not quite.

I feel like this game lacked direction in its making.

It would have been great to have the m-16 from BO1 fighting in the Jungle level against some future solider with the gravity spikes. Instead they just kind of gave up on making it what it truly could have been. A best of collection of all of the Black Ops games we loved.

Never the less... the game is great to play. The multiplayer has the CoD speed and fun you know and love. Blackout is great if you've never played a Battle Royale game before or have been searching for a more twitch based version. Zombies impressed me.

BUY IF: You are a lifelong CoD fan and your main focus is on MP and want a CoD Battle Royale. You will enjoy the gameplay more then ever and if your a PC player, you will enjoy the optimization.

DISREGARD IF: You are a casual CoD fan, like what CoD has to offer with SP and not a fan of Battle Royale. You will find this very repetitive to Black Ops 3, without any SP and no real innovation that stands out.

I hope this was helpful. First review.

On a positive note the online maps seem to a certain extent well thought out to reduce camping spots, but not perfect. Leveling up the guns and mastering them is a chore and repetitive and as always the game comes with the standard great when you winning but cr*p when your losing mindset. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a very odd take on the Black Ops series. The game fells almost like a free-to-play app. The removal of a campaign and the addition of a battle royale makes Black Ops 4 feel way different than it's previous installments. It was well received when it was first announced back in May 2018, getting everyone hyped for a new Call of Duty. When it first came out in October, the game was praised for it's intense gameplay and its cool new battle royale, but the game's glory didn't last for long. The graphics from the new engine BO4 ran on was a bit potato compared to BO3. The DLC rolled in, and the hate began to hit real hard after that. A lot, and I mean a lot of the DLC was "recycled content", consisting of guns from older CoD's, and re-used zombies maps with a "new story", and the return of supply drops; Because you can't make a Call of Duty game without micro-transactions. Blood of the Dead, Ancient Evil, Alpha Omega, and Voyage of Despair were very big let downs and were developed with the intention to make them "better than ever." The guns in previous Call of Duty's were balanced very well between each other, and while the base guns that don't require a supply drop to get, the other guns are very pay-to-win. Although some are okay (And some suck), others are very unbalanced and unfair at times. The S6 Stingray, AN-94, Grav, and Peacekeeper are all pretty powerful, and you don't even need a supply drop for the Grav. The Locus is a re-used weapon as well, but it's "meh", and the Vendetta is weak. The point is, Black Ops 4 is a game that was primarily made to compete against other Triple A titles and for nostalgia. I can't finish this review without talking about Tag Der Toten. In BO3, the final map to end it all was supposed to be Revelations, but everyone paniced, so Treyarch had to continue the Zombies story for just a little longer. Tag Der Toten (Day of the Dead) was named to be the opposite of Nacht Der Untoten (Night of the Living Dead), which was the first zombies map ever. The map is a re-master of Call of the Dead and takes place in the summertime, rather than winter (It's still cold). The map has the Victis crew (From Tranzit) as the last crew to ever see. The map is overall a great ending to a well-loved series, and I for one think that even though Black Ops has some pretty bad flaws, doesn't make it terrible enough to stop playing. Expand

But, Treyarch nerfed it a bit so it is not as annoying. Especially with the new black market update coming soon to make it easier to get other guns. In what regards the multiplayer, it's really nothing really new nor better than before. I feel like playing Black Ops 3 without the jetpacks, in a slight worse quality actually. That being said, it's still enjoyable and I still play it regularly. I just really hate this carnival vibe with all those crazy camos and unrealistic childish things. We'll see if MW2019 does better, because it's now quite a while that CoD doesn't improve anymore.

You could tell when it was first released that many things were overpowered and needed to be nerfed, but just recently Treyarch and the other devs listened and made a huge update that fixed many of the problems.
My favorite game mode right now is gun game and it's truly great and reminds me a lot of Bo3. Though Bo4 did try to implement something new - "blackout" so far i have mixed opinions, it can be very fun but things like looting bags (how long it takes) and frame rate dips need to be addressed, it's clear it does need a bit of polishing.

Well, I was hoping that this COD would bring something intresting to the table but most of the new features are mostly marketing gimmincks. Other than that, after you been playing for a few days the game starts to feel like an old COD. Don't expect to be blown away or feel like you're playing a brand new reinvented COD game, it feels the same as other COD games but with no campaign.

Sorry to disappoint but this is my honest opinion... wait for Battlefield V or wait till the game is below $40USD. This is not a full price game!

BO4 isn't to futuristic and is mainly boots on ground (Unless your Ruin). Blackout is basically PUBG just a little more boring. This years zombies mode is actually pretty good and fun but difficult if your playing voyage of despair, blood of the dead. Or classified. If your experienced you'll be fine. Multiplayer is the same it's always been since just a few added specialists and gear butBO4 isn't to futuristic and is mainly boots on ground (Unless your Ruin). Видно,что разработчики на эту часть игры не клали такой большой болт как на 5 предыдущих.

This is probably the most well established, smooth, down to earth Call of Duty title we've had in a long time... Yet it's shattered by the sheer greed of the publishers and a staggering amount of confusion by developers as to what the fans really want.

this game wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either.

I say this game falls in the middle because of the fact that it did delivered new content at launch and it also had great gameplay too ( better than MW ). Overall the MP was pretty good , apart from the specialist and scorestreaks , it wasn’t bad. I really enjoyed it too. Blackout was one of the better parts of the game and it was a really

Blackout was one of the better parts of the game and it was a really good spin on the battle royale franchise. Though I didn’t play it a whole bunch because I wasn’t into BR. But I did try it a few times and it was good.

Last but not least there’s zombies , i feel like zombies was a really fun game mode with new storyline and a new way to play it. Though not as good as black ops 3 , it still had a very good style of game play that I enjoyed. I think the one thing that disappointed everyone was the micro transactions , but what did you expect. It is activision i mean. They will always do this with every CoD. But it wasn’t as bad as Bo3 ( in bo3 there were like 50+ weapons in supply drops compared to now where there’s only around 7 or 10 ).

Anyways this game wasn’t super disappointing, it was just an average CoD.

Sério, se formos tratar ''Call of Duty'' dessa forma tão banal, é melhor abandonar.

It’s not that I can’t respect it — it seems to offer decent value in that it’s essentially three different types of shooter in one package, but aside from the new Blackout mode, I’ve had significantly better experiences from many of its competitors. And honestly, Blackout’s main competition is a free-to-play game. It may be better than Fortnite in my opinion, but sixty dollars better? I’m not entirely convinced about that, and without a decent singleplayer campaign attached, it’s a pretty hard sell for anyone who isn’t already a fan.

Despite its generic title Black Ops IV feels like a fresh start for Call of Duty. The multiplayer and the zombie mode is very much the same as always, but with Blackout, Treyarch takes everything that is good with Player Unknown's Battleground and makes it better.

With no campaign to test your trigger finger, the trio of a safe (albeit polished) battle royale, waning multiplayer, and rotting Zombies make BLOPS4 feel like a relic next to a post-Forsaken Destiny 2. [Issue#156, p.94]
