The customization options are too much, and too much of low quality. The building mechanics feel tacked on and only serve as a hindrance to having a good time. The maps feel lazy, uninspired, and in some cases poor revisions to BF1 maps. It doesn't feel like a WWII game. The combat, though similar of course to BF1, actually feels way less satisfying and fun. The aesthetic of the games character models and art styles in certain areas is just baffling to me. They really missed the mark with the whole overall presentation of this game. It's a shame because I typically really enjoy Battlefield games. It's also buggy and has a disappointing amount of content in terms of maps, diversity of maps, game modes, etc. Pass on this one and hope that Dice gets its sh** together for the next entry in the series. Gameplay is king! BF5 is a bigtime step up from BF1 in terms of gameplay and is a must buy for any battlefield fan. Multiplayer games are fun and keep you engaged the entire match. The game is lacking on a bit of content, however the progression system is 100% better and definitely will keep you in it for the long haul. Tides of War will help bring the game some much needed additional content.

To start off, I was one of the people who didn't like DICE's depiction of WW2 and was against the game from the start. The closed alpha was quite good, but the beta was an outright disaster. That said, I can confidently say that this year's installment has the best gameplay since BF3. If you want a game with an in-depth progressions system that you can sink hours into with its constant genre-defining epic moments for hours on end, this is the game for you. Cosmetics are surprisingly good. All characters you can choose are faction specific, meaning no black woman nazis, restricting the player to choose from a variety of men and women from a select character pool. For those concerned about historical accuracy, it is barely noticeable aside from the uncomfortable and loud women screaming on the battlefield. The content is quite light at launch. While there is a lot of variety in the content itself, the quantity is lacking. Features such as dragging downed friendlies, vehicle customization, and the Last Tiger war story are lacking from the game. The game is also very buggy. I'd say there aren't many 'game breaking' bugs (although I've encountered an infinite revive state glitch where I couldn't respawn), as most of the bugs are ignorable at best. The story is alright. 2 of the 3 war stories are quite decent, and one is just downright garbage. The AI is piss poor, and there is no variety in gameplay other than the typical one man army style gameplay. Performance isn't up to standard right now, as hectic moments can get quite laggy especially if you don't have a good CPU. So, should you buy the game? Not yet. Either wait till it's on sale or until more content comes out. I also recommend you try out the game by buying one month of EA Access. I've had a blast with the game so far, and I look forward to Tides of War.

It's surprisingly bad. I love Battlefield, but this plays like development restarted a month ago. It play like two developers hated each other and this is their compromise for an initial starting point. My favorite game mode Operations were scratched ("Grand" operations is just a generic mixed gamemode --e.g. you actual play conquest), player movement is lightning fast (which feels again like pre-support for BR). No co-op, no medic dragging bodies, "fortifications" are stationary and perfunctory, WIDE open maps (like WIDE), ridiculous balance issues (seriously, like crazy ridiculous over the top, did-anyone-play-this balance issues), and worst of all --it's just sorta boring. There's no oomph, there's no theme to it, it looks like asset flip territory (especially player models), the sound is more generic, the pickups are tad immersion breaking. Every map feels like afternoon brunch, just the middle of the day, like you half expect to see a couple picnicking. This isn't necessarily all that bad (maybe it'll get better), but for now it definitely feels like a shell of a game. Either a funding cut, or the game had a complete recent overhaul. Just not good. I've been a Battlefield fan for several years and each release always has teething problems. The day someone releases a triple A title of this nature without any teething problems will never happen! The programmers are under immense pressure to get the product out there - I agree it shouldn't be like that but unfortunately that's the way it is! I get people being cheesed off but anyone who has previously invested time in a Battlefield game will know that Dice will be committed as they always have been to iron out any issues over the forthcoming weeks. As it currently stands the multiplayer (which is what I am there for) is intense, immersive and great fun! Graphically (I'm using a PS4 Pro) it is sublime! Sound is fantastic and on par with the quality of the graphics. The game is set up to encourage teamwork more than ever before. New maps and new modes will be added free of charge over time. I’m not a hardcore gamer, but I’m a big fan of a series since Bad Company. I’m ready for any setting they can offer, and I was completely blown away by BF1 - because it was bold, brave and epic. It was in interesting contrast to BF3, and BF4 (which I also loved) and it was made with great love and attention to details...

And BF5 is the opposite to this. It looks as if it is made in a hurry, for cheap, and like an answer to Fortnite, PUBG, Overwatch, SJW, meetoo and what else do they have now... And ALL OF THIS it is not Battlefield.

    Here are some “Highlights”:

    1. I don’t know how it’s possible, but on PS4 Pro graphics feels WORSE then in BF1. I’m sure that technical level of the engine is more advanced, but the use of it is just plain “basic”.
    2. You don’t get an epic true war history feeling. Everything is brief and simple. It looks like a BF1 for poor.
    3. There are women dying and screaming in agony all around you all the time. Maybe someone enjoys it, but I’m not a big fan of that. And that is not historically true - so what is it for? For fun?
    4. In BF1 operations if you win - you move forward, you loose - you try again and probably fail. In BF5 operations IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU WIN OR LOOSE, you advance anyway. And if you are defending, even if you win - you retreat. What the hell?
    5. Lot’s of bugs now: can’t deploy, menu items are not visible, the round does not finish, etc. Yes, again.
    6. They want us to customize our soldiers now, and hopefully even pay for it. That is the focus of the game now. Not the content.
    7. Even though they have removed all the insane face paintings and mechanical arms, the game remained the same - a bit crazy chaotic action just like it is popular among younger auditory now. Maybe they should’ve kept the arms, it would’ve been at least complete in some way.
    8. On the other hand, people who played beta (I didn’t), said that it was too slow. So they added more speed in a final release...

As a result, trying to please everyone, it’s neither an authentic Battlefield game, nor a simple modern fun multiplayer shooter. All this popular gimmicks just don’t fit into a Battlefield concept.

I was waiting for this game even after poor announcement and negative beta feedback. But now, as I have played it myself, I can tell - it’s just a plain failure.

It is a game made to earn money, just because they had to release a Battlefield title this year. So it feels like a cheap limited DLC to BF1, made by some secondary team, while THE REAL NEXT BATTLEFIELD is in the works. Which, I believe, will be a true great game again.

PS: Sorry for mistakes, English is not my native language

    - Terrible visibility in every aspect of a game: you don't see enemy in front of a wall, you can't pick enemy in tons of garbage, it's hard to read deploy map to see what's going on, kill feed is disabled by default taking away crucial information
    - UX is something DICE never heard of. Menus are not intuitive and take long to navigate. Configuring every class for both sides is a choir - battlelog was a lot better than this.
    - Bugs, bugs, bugs, bugs - I've had one team on server suddenly not be able to revive, flying tanks, objects hovering in the air, unkillable enemies, flickering textures
    - Maps are bad. And I mean really bad - they are beautiful but hardly playable - a lot of clutter with a lot of open spaces. Again: VISIBILITY is sacrificed for a fancy visuals. It's bad for multiplayer game. Look at: CS GO, Overwatch, Fortnite - those games have extremely good visibility and that makes them so good. In BF: V for most of the time you are wondering if it's some fancy map decoration or proned camper from other team.
    - "How did I die this time?" - Is a question you will be asking yourself a lot. Game gives no information what is going on, who made damage to you, where was he when it happened. Compared to COD killcam it's a joke (because it's nonexistent) and done probably to hide bad netcode (later on that) and growing problems with hackers (whoever plays bf1 knows what i'm talking about). You will die many times mostly not knowing how - just get used to it.
    - Informational chaos - game hides important information from you (hidden kill-feed, no info on how you got killed) but feeds a lot of totally not necessary information (something about your squad leader being changed, something about progression in achievement, something about community event will find its way to your display)
    - Lack of content - Maps that are here are not only bad but also scarce. I guess EA clearly goes for a long term Origin Premium model and wants to spoon-feed content so people stay interested and pay for subscription for as long as possible. There are not that many guns in game and there is no deep customization for them anymore.
    - Inconsistent netcode - Again you die in a milisecond. Again you can try to hit enemy that is further than high refresh bubble and nothing will happen. Guess that just comes with inventory.

The multiplayer is garbage as well. There is barely any content in this game. The amount of content is a disgrace to the Battlefield series. Greedy EA only gave us like 8 maps and a small selection of weapons at launch. This game feels more like COD than BF. I recommend you wait until this game drops to $5 and until EA gives away the Season Pass for free.

What in the world is this game? A joke. A disgrace to World War 2 veterans. I can't believe I got this pile of garbage. Microtransactions galore, same looks and textures from Battlefield 1 in 2016. Poor AI in the campaign which, by the way was one of the worst stories I've played from DICE. No interesting plot, no rememberable characters. Go to Point A, Point B, come back and repeat. WhyWhat in the world is this game? A joke. A disgrace to World War 2 veterans. I give this Battlefield roughly an 8.5, it's rounded up. I hate when people do this, but the **** here is simply unreal. The whole female thing did bother me at first, but then I did some actual research: women did fight in WW2, for the Russians and in resistance units all across Europe. Sure they weren't in every battle depicted in the game, but neither were some of the uniforms, or vehicles, or guns, and most of the real life battles played out wildly different. It's a **** game, people need to chill out and find something else in their life to be passionate about that's not escapism and political anger.

    On to the review.

    Background:
I have played BF4, BF1, and was unemployed during the BFV beta (so I got to level 30). So far I've played 8 hours of BFV Deluxe release which came out yesterday. As you all know the real release is next week, so there are still quite a few bugs and it's not the true launch yet.

    Cons:

    - The UI SUCKS.
Here it's kind of the same style as BF1, except BF1 didn't have so many customization options. So expand that crappy UI for more complex dynamics and you get the idea.

    - No Spotting.
Spotting was what made BF1 so accessible and not frustrating. Nobody likes dying from an enemy they can't see, or having to squint while looking around the place. BF1 was great in that you always had a pretty good idea where the enemies were, and could then more easily identify them. There's a bit more frustration here that takes away from the fun.

    - The Planes SUCK.
Planes can’t spot, and they need to resupply bombs every time they make a run in BFV. You’ll miss your bombing run because you can’t spot, and then spend a

    - Bugs.
So many bugs at launch. Some times you get texture pop in, there are bugs in the UI, just a lot of little random stuff they'll be scrambling to fix in time for the big launch next week. Nothing game breaking though-- except my tank did get stuck in a house wall (happens in BF1 sometimes too). Feels pretty unpolished though and I would be SURPRISED if there are not a lot of bad/neutral reviews soon from real players complaining about the bugs.

    Pros:

    - Art Style and Graphics.
The game makes BF1 look like a PS3 game. In my opinion BF1 was the best looking shooter ever until this came out. The art style is so cool-- though it is a bit more colorful and like an "Advanced Wars" version of WW2 as opposed to the grittiness of the BF1 color palette. Overall really nice and fun to be in.

    - New Mechanics.
Lying on your back is cool. The fortifications? Super cool. They add such an element of strategy, and change the battlefield dynamics of choke points and where to expect enemies. I love attrition too (needing to resupply ammo and health). It forces you to slow down and think about what you’re going to do next, which makes the battlefield a lot more dynamic.

    - Destruction.
BF1 destruction was awesome, but sometimes you could “see the strings”. Here you can't tell at all, it looks and feels so realistic! Things break in unique ways every time, very immersive.

    - Game Modes.
I used to play COD only for TD and Domination— here every single mode is awesome and there are a lot of them. You need to try Frontlines. No throwaway crap like COD’s “Gridiron” game.

    Overall:
It simply feels like what I loved so much about COD MW, MW2, and World at War. Those were the heyday of online shooting games (for console), and it recaptures a lot of that magic for me with bigger maps and cover, now plus nice graphics and destruction! It’s the exact antithesis to “laser tag” shooters like the newer Call of Duty games that cater to “run and gun” simpletons. At this point it’s a rare type of game and the only kind like it on console. If you loved old school online shooters, you’ll find something to love here.

    PUNTOS POSITIVOS:

    CONCLUSION:

The game is great so far. I think that many were turned off by the reveal trailer, and I'll admit I was not that impressed. the single player was alright, pretty interesting to find out about the things that wasn't that known about WW2 but the multiplayer is where the game really shines and is worth your money. Also i would advise not listening to most if not all of the negative reviews unless they are actually criticism because so far they're trolls and people who are following the bandwagon and circle jerk.the single player was alright, pretty interesting to find out about the things that wasn't that known about WW2 but the multiplayer is where the game really shines and is worth your money. This game had the full potential to be an epic game, but it made all the wrong decisions for all the wrong reasons. Company Greed and PC detroyed the WW2 setting beyond recognition. This is so very tragic.
+2 points for the graphics and audio, which are very good.

In many ways, Battlefield V feels like a big step backwards for the franchise. The campaign is boring and frustrating, multiplayer is unbalanced, and bugs keep popping up in every mode to ruin the experience. The fortification system is a good shakeup, but the good it brings is tempered by the cumbersome and murky Grand Operations. With some patches, balance changes and bug squashing, BFV could be a fantastic game, but at the moment, this soldier needs to go back to basic training.

EA and DICE seem to have lost sight of what made this series a true contender for the FPS crown, and both the gameplay and the content are suffering as a result.

Ripe with potential but riddled with problems, the new Battlefield will be brilliant six months from now. Right now, however, it’s merely a good shooter. [Issue#157, p.83]
