    Coming from someone that has played ALL the Battlefield games up until 4, this along with titles such as (BF 1, BF Hardline) was added to my blacklist of not being a real Battlefield game. Those who are long-time players know what I mean.

    Here are some Pros & Cons

    Campaign -Boring & Bland -Repetitive -No Swastikas on the German Flags instead they're Imperial German Naval Jacks -Stories are short -No teamwork or a helping hand in the campaign (Except the Tirailleurs Story) -Nordlys Campaign is historically inaccurate & disrespectful to the Norwegian Commandos in Operation Gunnerside (An actual mission during WWII)    Here are some Pros & Cons

    -Interesting campaigns but it lacks

    Multiplayer

    -Building little defenses & barricades are fun and are something new in the franchise
    -Lack of Weapons at launch
    -No changing of gender as the Tank Driver or Airforce Pilot
    -The destruction is a bit more dynamic

    Isn't it funny, how all the reviews complaining about a supposed "SJW" agenda are barely legible because of having the orthography and the grammar of a monkey? So ignore the 688 (at the time I'm writing this) reviews by Trump-voters, you'll risk getting dumber just by reading them.

    This is a good game. Not perfect, full of bugs and missing some major participants in WW2.     Bad Marketing release aside, this is actually a very good game. Combat feels skill based and not as grenade spammy as BF1.
    Customisation is good and not over the top. Its a joy to pilot a Spitfire and roll over enemies in a Panzer tank. To all the people wanting to know where the USA/USSR/Japan are- they're probably coming in DLC's Keep your hats    Some of these reviews make me laugh...

    Feels like part of it made by DICE and another part made by BioWare Montreal(Andromeda's makers). Therefore BF5 deserve at least 5/10, but because of my love for BF4 and BF1, high expectations and heartbreaking disappointment I give you 1.
    I hope your next try will be better.

    Why not make stories about women and their deeds in weapon factories, resistance movement and hospitals? I am sure there is enough heroic stuff to tell about women and their war efforts in those places.     If someone is completely new to the series then they may not experience the gunfight mechanism to be bad but when comparing it Battlefield 3, 4 and 1, this is not a step forward but a big leap behind.
    Battlefield 4 had so many issues like camping and pay to win or even premium pass out of which battlefield 1 solved the camping somewhat but introduced some other bugs now this game tried to solve those issues but ended with producing more anti-fun gameplay.
    If you can get this game for under $10 then and only then you should spend on it otherwise grab battlefield 1 if you want to try battlefield series or play Rainbow six siege.    … Expand

    I couldn't care less about "controversy", the gun play in this game is the best the Battlefield series has had since BF3. The customisation is an amazing step up in complexity compared to previous titles.

    I have not really been a fan of EA since battlefront 1, but Battlefield one started the step in the right direction, and this game fully stepped in the right direction. I can look past the historical inaccuracies, and there are some bugs, as any new game will have. Overall, the game could use some improvement, but I feel that it is a solid game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Battlefield 5 had truly great potential. However the developers clearly thought that it was more important to spread SJW propaganda than it was to make a good game, as evidenced by the first trailer. I could go on about the amputee terminator woman in that trailer, but there are so many other unnecessary instances of SJW that haven't been talked about a lot. For example the mission in Norway which is based on a real operation but has literally nothing to do with it. In real life, the operation was accomplished by multiple teams of well trained special forces without killing a single person. In the game however, you play as a lone young woman that survives impossible situations and murders dozens of German soldiers in the process. Another example is the war story where you play as African forces. The game tries it's very best to make the French soldiers appear as racists which simply wasn't the case at all. In game, the black soldiers have to fight at the front line without any kind of support which never happened in real life. But it gets better! There is a cut-scene where the black soldiers spare a German soldier, only to later see the dead bodies of their comrades after they got executed by the Germans. This simply didn't happen in real life and it's making me sick to see how games still try to convince us that all German soldiers were heartless monsters. Captured black soldiers were treated no worse than white prisoners of war by the Germans. But of course that still is not enough for dice. After one of the black soldiers heroically sacrifices himself for his comrades at the end of that war story, dice tries to make you believe that the black soldiers got removed from photos by the "racist white french soldiers". Once again, this is a lie.
    Now let's talk about that "historical accuracy", shall we? First of all, dice got so many dates wrong. I will just give you a single example: In the "my country calling"- introduction you play as a "Tiger" heavy tank in 1941...Production of the Tiger didn't start until 1942!
    Now it is time for logic fails in the story missions: In the Norway war story you survive a fall into freezing water in Norway. Nobody would survive that. Also at one point, a German soldier runs at you while screaming instead of just shooting you with his machine gun.
    In the "Under no flag" story you are tasked with destroying aircraft on a runway near the ocean. How do you get to that location? With a small boat so you won't get spotted? WRONG, YOU GET THERE ON A F*CKING DREADNOUGHT. There is no way that they got that close without being spotted and sunk. Also the dreadnought could have used his guns to destroy the entire airfield without any of the main characters doing anything (in real life they obviously did not use a dreadnought so they had to sneak in and plant the bombs by themselves). At the end of that mission the dreadnoughts (they somehow multiplied whilst you did the mission) suddenly remember that there is a reason why they have those huge artillery cannons and destroy what feels like the entire German army in Africa with a single artillery barrage. Wow.
    In my opinion they should have done a single single player mission with a lot of effort instead of separate, poorly designed war stories. And of course the German war story (OMG FINALLY) revolves around a tank commander who questions the things Germany has done. On the one hand, this might actually show that German soldiers were normal human beings (a premiere in video games), on the other however it will probably still depict many German soldiers as monsters. Just a prediction. Then there is that thing with the censorship of the word "white man" in the multiplayer chat. That alone should tell you everything about the game. I could go on, but I am starting to get tired. In my opinion Dice has f*cked up. By trying to secretly rewrite history. But ey, if you don't like it, don't buy it! And that's what I will probably do.    … Expand

    Biggest problem is that this is not WW2 game. No Russians or USSR, no respect for history at all.
    Core game - is just OK. Maps - don't like them much. Gunplay - meh, "gun upgrades" are nonsense, they make guns better no matter what you have. EA is destroying games.

They present black and female soldiers on all sides of the war, which is historically wrong and wouldn't be a problem if they had marketed the game differently.     Great game with new mechanics improving the immersion to WW2. Hopefully we will see a good amount of extra content in the future as currently it is a bit lacking. Adding female soldiers to a WW2 game was a questionable choice.

    I hope EA will fix their practices bu i doubt it. I urge anyone and everyone who purchased this game to seek a refund "Immediately", i cannot tell you enough how likely refunds are going to be stopped.     The historical inaccuracy present in this game further dilutes the perception that this is an accurate WWII game and further reinforces that this is an "Alternative" look on WWII. Political bias should not be included when re-accounting historical events. The graphics are fantastic however.

It's a 60 dollar game, which I foolishly bought on release, that is not a complete game. The practice tool is on hold for 2 weeks, and there's already a DLC being promoted on the front page of the main screen. That's annoying, but I can get past it.

    Then I get into a game. And with 60 ping I still manage to rubberband something unlike anything I've experienced before. You glitch through walls, you catch on EVERYTHING you run by, and server lag is next level bad. You die around corners so often.

    Balance is another trash aspect of this game. Sniper rifles are nerfed into the ground, while people can quite literally snipe people with assault rifles or even LMGs, and planes can bomb spawns before you even have time to scatter.

    EA is undoubtedly going to patch much of this within the coming months, but that's my problem. They shouldn't have to. People pay hard earned dollars for a game that is not complete, and it's not good.

    Shame on EA. Enjoy my 60 dollar donation, as I can't refund because it has a 24 hour maximum and I'm at about 28 since purchase. If I could, I'd get my money back from your trashcan organization.

    Although I understand and agree it being unfinished and lacking content, I am having alot of fun in multiplayer matches. People are slowly getting used to the maps and objectives resulting less campers more action. My first review here so Cheers :)

    Is it fun? Yes, it definitely is I’ve loved every minute of the 25+ hours I’ve put into the multiplayer. The multiplayer is a lot more tactical then Battlefield 1 and a little slower Paced as well, (but not to slow) a lot more destruction and more realistic destruction like pieces of building hanging when you blow a hole into the wall, or being able to shoot through the wall with highIs it fun? Yes, it definitely is I’ve loved every minute of the 25+ hours I’ve put into the multiplayer. The multiplayer is a lot more tactical then Battlefield 1 and a little slower Paced as well, (but not to slow) a lot more destruction and more realistic destruction like pieces of building hanging when you blow a hole into the wall, or being able to shoot through the wall with high power weapons and hit someone on the other side. The new attrition system and faster time to kill makes it so everyone has to work together to assault a position, and I’ve noticed that teammates revive each other more often then previous titles, and work together more often. Vehicle combat is a lot of fun as well, if you are really good you can help turn a match around for your team, but you really have to watch for enemies because it’s a lot easier for them to take you out.

    Is it perfect? unfortunately it isn’t, it has glitches some very minor some I’ve had to close and restart the game but nothing as bad as Battlefield 4’s launch. It also feels like we got less content with this Battlefield, and unfortunately we didn’t get all of the new interesting mechanics at launch like dragging a teammate when they are down, or the co-op mode, and firestorm but I don’t know about you, but I was going to put most of my time into multiplayer anyway. The single player campaign is actually the only thing that I find extremely disappointing, It’s to short and out of the 3 campaigns available, I only enjoyed 2 of them. Although the 2 I enjoyed were really interesting with some cool mechanics like the skiing mission, but unfortunately they where both to short which is really disappointing. Although we don’t play Battlefield games for the campaign so it’s not to big a deal and hopefully they will do more with tides of war.

    Can/will it get better? With DICE track record I am 99% sure it will get better, what we have right now is still pretty dang great and most of the problems can be fixed, and the possibility of what they could do and what they already plan to implement it could end up being the best Battlefield game to date

    Should I wait? It depends if your like me and love playing Battlefield and have been playing for years then it’s definitely worth getting it now it may not be perfect but it’s still a fun Battlefield game and if you’re new to Battlefield then you could probably wait a couple weeks or for a sale.

    I’d also like to add please ignore the 0 reviews or really any of the really low negative reviews, a lot of those reviews are from people that clearly have not played the game, or are just plain trolls. so please don’t listen to them.    … Expand

    I was really surprised with a negative ratings at the beginning. I decided to buy it by myself and then check this out. SO! I didn't know that 1 woman can actually kill over 50 nazis. I didn't know that there are WAY more african frenchmen than real frenchmen (white ofc). I didn't know that russians were like.. in this game we don't have russians. OH, WHAT A PITY.     For Battlefield veterans like me and not fanboys...this games as the same bugs like the previous ones. Buggy as hell, bullet registration is a joke again.
    Nothing new, just look like a DLC for BF1. same formula over and over again, and no bug repair. They should stop using the crappy graphic engine frostbite.

    Very good game, many improvements over BF1 and love the scenery and style. Such a great experience. The story could be a bit longer, but i am still a huge fan of the hero stories.

    Where is the rest of the game? Unfinished single player, unfinished multi-player, unfinished modes, unfinished is the theme here.     The cons? Well sit back folks cause here we go...first off I’m a huge fan of the audio/sounds of the firearms in any game. In this one however every gun sounds the same. Sniper rifles when fired you think it’s a cap gun, all the semi automatic rifles sounds exactly the same. And the same goes with full automatic guns as well, just with different firing rates. Let’s talk about the maps...they are cluttered. So cluttered that Battlefield has (believe it or not) choke points. Basically what I’m saying is that it’s such a pain in the rear to constantly push the jump button hoping you’ll be able to hop over debris or rocks, your forced to go down lanes on certain maps where your enemy is just looking down his sights ready to feed you his bullets. Especially on the game mode “Breakthrough”. The maps are much smaller than your previous BF experience. They feel very claustrophobic for a battlefield map. Like for example the map called Devastation just feels very very tiny and cluttered. Let’s move onto the spawning aspect. It’s horrible, frustrating and abysmal for a Battlefield game. I never in my experience of playing any BF that I spawn on a captured base and got killed instantly. And it happens a lot in this game. The balancing is the worst as well. The guns actually pretty much suck except for maybe two guns I can use and they both belong from the assault class. Overall, the game isn’t giving me anything exciting to talk about, The multiplayer just seems boring, and you don’t get that chaotic war fighting feeling as in BF1, which made the game very addicting. Med class users don’t revive, support doesn’t drop ammo, and basically everyone is confused on how to properly use their classes. I don’t like the historical aspect they chose for this game either. The smaller battles that took place that really nobody talks about, and I appreciate that from Dice, but it’s completely inaccurate. I’m hoping the DLC will bring in those battles we all know and talk about from WW2, because right now it does not feel like a WW2 game at all. And maybe some patches to fix the many problems as well in the near future. Believe it or not I’m having more fun with Black Ops 4 than this game as of right now.     Gameplay and bugs aside, my greater disappointment is the attention to detail, in main the historical inaccuracies and the dumbing down of the uniforms. Look at any historic footage and see the British / Ally units (except for the US) and their webbing and its absence here - all Allies are basically US Army / Marine fatigue webbing belts and canteens.

    The game feels like a cynical FU to the base that complained at original reveal; with a rushed reworking to save itself. This could have been so much more - look at Rockstar and see how quality matters versus target dates.

However, as a game, I think it's exactly what you would expect from a Battlefield game. Very fun, large scale warfare. Definitely deserves better than what the haters are giving it.

    Technically it's OK, but that's a madness that USSR isn't included in the game about WW2. Game production feels really rushed and this has heavily affected on the result. Nothing special, just a low-quality modification for BF1.

    Kinda sad that EA and DICE won't stop anyway.

    I only played multiplayer (27 hours in) and I really enjoy it. This is my first battlefield experience and I like it. I had my concerns with the reveal of the game and all the gender issues but if you can ignore all that and take a look at the game with a more open mind, it's well worth it's money.

    -Currently pretty buggy with annoying bugs that affect ADS and squad spawning but most likely will be patched soon
    -Tanks seem super slow and weak and tend to get taken down too easily by a single assault player

    EA made game mechanics much more better than BF1. Tactics, shooting recoil and beautiful maps are good features of this game. But plenty of bugs and lack of content isn't satisfying at all :( Another disappointment is the atmosphere of this game. As I think, this game doesn't match the atmosphere of the WW2. But as a team shooter it is rather good.

    It's a great Battlefield game and my squad love it. There is no other war game with that feeling of real battlefield. So guys, hope seeing you soon on field! And btw Soviets will be added in free DLC, so there is no reason for zeroes.

    Same gameplay but more simplified as battlefield 2...feels like the same thing every time but with better graphics of course. Stop releasing trash so much ea.

    Really enjoying the multiplayer so far...a little short on content at the moment, but looking forward to the free DLC updates and their BR mode.

    In many ways, Battlefield V feels like a big step backwards for the franchise. The campaign is boring and frustrating, multiplayer is unbalanced, and bugs keep popping up in every mode to ruin the experience. The fortification system is a good shakeup, but the good it brings is tempered by the cumbersome and murky Grand Operations. With some patches, balance changes and bug squashing, BFV could be a fantastic game, but at the moment, this soldier needs to go back to basic training.
