You know you have bought a faulty product when they release a patch with over 100 "fixes" within weeks of the game going on sale. The silly thing is that after this patch, many of the most obvious faults in the game have still not been fixed !! This game could have been good, but sadly, it is rubbish.

Campaign is short, but very decent, they tell good stories and enjoyed playing them. But this is not why most people buy battlefield, including me. The multiplayer is the reason... and well I haven't got bored of it since playing on it for a few months, and that to me is a big thing because I get bored easily. So that's why I give this a 10.

Battlefield one is the excellent counter to call of duty's infinite warfare, and a perfect answer to the longing of many gamers (myself included) to play a shooter that doesn't cast them as a barely human cyborg, powered by cybernetic implants. It is the difficulty of BF1 that makes it so compelling. It is incredibly inconvenient every time you reload your weapon, and your character takes 30 seconds or so to do it, but at the same time, a little grin creeps on to my face each time it happens. Health is hard to regain, unless you have a medkit, and it is not uncommon to be unable to ADS because of the gasmask on your face, protecting you from a deadly cloud of mustard gas. It's these little details, that make this came so compelling.
The story is incredibly powerful as well. From the opening sequence where you play as about 5 different characters, all of whom inevitably perish, the game powerfully conveys the hopelessness of a war where battlefield tactics had yet to catch up to the death dealing technologies of the period. The Short anthology type stories do a great job of highlighting specific aspects of the war. These stories are extremely moving, as they manage to connect you to the characters and create meaningful development over the course of only three or four levels.
BF1 also features an immensely fun multiplayer. The most enjoyable aspect of which is the new operations feature; a bit of a cross between domination, and rush, with the large scale chaos of conquest. One match will take about 3 rounds, and sometimes moves to a different map. Usually at least once in a course of a match, one side is reinforced by a zeppelin, train, or dreadnought battleship. The scope of the matches is monstrous. Each time you spawn in, the camera zooms into a spot on the map, speaking to how small, helpless, and inconsequential each soldier must have felt; especially when there are things like Zeppelins looming in the sky, raining death on all who dare to venture underneath.
Whether you are a hardcore fps gamer, or someone who is interested in history, and compelling heroism, Bf1 is a mightily entertaining experience.

Few steps back in some aspects. Complete lack of any meaningful progression system. There is no real need to use any of the level 10 guns, with the only one you'll regularly see being the assault sub machine gun.

Complete misfire by EA adding the cosmetic boxes, Battlefield is popular because it isn't COD. and simple things like cosmetics are fairly irrelevant in 64 player game modes on huge maps.

Inability to see other players stats.

These changes might have been intended to make the game more inviting, but they will have the secondary effect of killing off longevity.

On play itself, you will discover that if you throw a Grenade and get immediately killed, your grenade miraculously disappears In mid flight. Tell me that's realistic. Also the game does not appear to like you shooting someone at the same time they are shooting you, it seems the software cannot cope with the complexity of that idea. If you use the up button to put your gas mask on, sometimes (not always) you find yourself grabbing a grenade or pulling out a syringe instead depending on your accessory. The game seems to have trouble remembering what the up button is for.. As mentioned by others, you can get blocked by a small object yet walk through some larger items so very little consistency there..
The whole game seems to have been rushed out with an eye to making the big Christmas profit deadline and with seemingly little thought given to making the game playable. However there is no excuse for the developers poor attention to spawning. This is so bad and is simply a continuation of the poor respawning of previous games, only much much worse. You can get spawned right in front of an enemy in front of tanks in fires you name it and the developers appear to have ignored it. The result you can have several respawns before spawning safely. Not all the time but enough to want to make you play something else quite often. That and the fact that the game is sooo slow to put you into a match and or take you back to main menu if you quit. (I assume that's a punishment for quitting) in fact it's so slow to do anything that you have to wonder if the developers really sat down and thought it through

The game is awesome. That's all.
The graphics are great. Even greater than SW Battlefront.
The multiplayer is fun to play. It's not about the kills your get but the objectives.

Some things need to be changed though:
Reviving someone should be 100 points to encourage people to do it more often, or just make it exactly the same as in bf hl.
The medals shouldn't need tracking or have different stages it should just be possible to do it all at the same time.
Assist counted as kill needs to be lowered to 75% of health like in hl.
The rest of the game though is brilliant or good enough despite those small setbacks and the core gameplay is fun and exhilarating.

First of, the story is way to short. You follow a few people's stories throughout the front from France to the Ottoman empire but most of them don't have much or any character development and that means you can't grow attached to them and feel what they feel in that moment. The first two story missions are the exceptions with the prologue having real emotion in it and the first real storyFirst of, the story is way to short. The first two story missions are the exceptions with the prologue having real emotion in it and the first real story having long enough to develop characters. It also doesn't have any story from the central powers (Germany, Austro-Hungary and the Ottomans) which means that they are portrayed as pure evil like you would portray the Nazi's in a WW2 game which is horribly wrong. It stands as a nice piece of tutorial for multiplayer though.

The multiplayer is very fun with each map needing different tactics and weapons if you want your team to succeed and win. It has a few game modes with each being very different but some aren't as good as others. Operations is the best game mode with it feeling like an actual battle with progress but War Pigeons is kind of bland but can be chaotic fun. There are a variety of weapons for each class but it is definitely less than what you had on offer in BF3 and BF4. Tank and plane combat is really fun with each vehicle felling powerful and weak all the time. The destruction is brilliant in this game with small bits of wall falling of and even injuring people. However some maps favor certain weapons to much like Argonne forest favoring shotguns and Suez favoring snipers, which can lead to so much rage because you are always killed by the same things.

The characters and stories are well written and well acted, with a couple exceptions. (The Australian kid, did not sound Australian)

The single player campaign feels as if Dice were not willing to gamble the time and money on developing a deeper and longer story, as the Battlefield franchise is mostly aimed towards the multiplayer fanbase. The single player campaign is a great way to teach new players the mechanics of multiplayer without boring you with a shallow narrative but I am still waiting for something to top the story of 'Brother's In Arms - Hell's Highway'.
I just hope the developers at Dice hear enough positive feedback to maybe focus on developing a full story next time around, because it was really enjoyable.

The sound design and visuals are the best I have seen and heard in a video game. From the sound of tanks moving closer, to the silhouettes of enemies piercing through fog, to the sound of bombs falling from planes overhead, to the massive destruction they bring to the landscape and buildings around you. Simply amazing.

As for the multiplayer, it is everything the single player campaign has to offer all condensed into amazingly designed maps which are a joy to play. This game is a must have for anyone who loves FPS and even for new players to the genre, I would highly recommend this.

I am disappointed after having played all War Stories. It started out super impressive and promising with a sombre and serious tone, moving quotes and a grim prologue. I was really hoping for more stuff along those lines. What I took away from the rest of the campaign is very cliche and cheesy stuff. Tank mission reminded me of Fury which was OK. The flying mission was grand and bombastic, very Hollywood. The Runner mission is very typical of a veteran taking a liking to a private soldier, assaulting a fort on his own. Very predictable. The Italian Iron Man is just completely ridiculous. The Arabian mission is just Deus Ex in WW1. Most of these missions have a one man vs whole world feel to them, with superhuman stealth sections, and overpowered guns. I didn't even bother completing the last war story cos I was just so turned off by the non-immersion of the campaign. I just finished watching Band of Brothers and The Pacific, and World War themes always focus around brotherhood and carmaraderie, with human atrocity lessons and philosophical ideas. This is just action, over the top heroism and unauthentic take on war. Games like Wolfenstein, destiny, titanfall, etcaynget away with this cos it fits their respective themes but WW1?? Come on, I expected much much more. What I got was just annoyance and irritance at a missed opportunity to deliver a poignant WW1 experience.

    Graphics though, are AMAZING!!

I didnt play much multiplayer, except for deathmatch and capture the flag. Kinda fun but my MP time is completely for Destiny. I am definitely missing out on the complete Battlefield experience but i really bought this game for a WW1 single player experience, and it failed to deliver that to me.

Multiplayer is unfortunately completely random and is in need of some serious balancing. Camping is too easily rewarded here, AA guns take down planes from across the map, tanks are taken out way to easy by infantry. The dreadnaught is also way to easy to kill with boats and cannons from offshore. Please fix multiplayer!

For me the are a couple of important issues with this game though. performance on this PS4 version when playing large battles is poor, quite poor actually. The other issues for me is that I miss all the extra add-ons for the weapons that make the multiplayer a lot richer. Seems to be a bit of lack of content in my opinion. But that's to be expected from a DICE/EA online shooter.

The only thing I had heard about the game in the negative was the campaign being a bit lacking, but honestly since playing it I have to say it's one of the best FPS campaigns since COD4. It's a brilliant series of stories that really pack the punch of mortality and survival.

So the most important points to cover are gameplay and visuals. This game looks incredible, I had to pause and shows others the levels and atmosphere on multiple occasions just because how stunningly real everything looks. I will be replaying and coming back to this game for a long time just to re-live the visuals and atmosphere.
The gameplay is perfect. The guns feel old and exactly as they should, but also aren't too hindering, they're fun to shoot, they feel very physical. The movement is good, moving around maps isn't as frustrating as it is with many other games which constantly weigh you down, or burn down your stamina very quickly, making every movement a chore. The level design is great, and feels very much a warzone rather than just a paintball gun game arena. The cities, desertscapes and mountains all feel real, beautiful but fragile, and the stories add to the game rather than distract from it. Every mission feels like something you need to do because you are the character rather than a chore you have to fulfil to further the story, which is something I havne't felt with an FPS for a long time.

Absolutely recommend this game if you in any way like FPS, this is the FPS to get.

As a side note the recent Wolfenstein games are pretty good as is Doom 4, but honestly they failed to keep my interest SP completion, and Rainbow Six Siege is a pretty well made tactical fps,but it is a little too trapped in grinding and unlocking, and digital currencies for my liking.

This game solves my previous concerns with the series. The controls are fantastic. The game has much needed realism. The pacing feels more authentic and the graphic lack the cartooniness of COD. I highly recommend this for folks that enjoy shooters.

The sound and graphics are excellent, but gameplay can be frustrating - too much emphasis on dumbed- down close quarters combat where things quickly get chaotic. it lacks the subtlety and intelligence of bf4 opting instead for a high sheen/high impact but shallower feel. The new operations mode can be dramatic and immersive and is probably the best new addition. The battlepacks now seem pretty pointless (who really cares about skins?). TDM and the new mode Warpidgeons are really lacklustre, feeling like tacked on afterthoughts - the maps are particularly bad on these modes. Let's see what DIce brings with the dlc, maybe the game can get up to an 8 or 9 with better maps, more modes, more weapons and better balance between classes...all in all a big disappointment (as bf4 was so good - why get rid of the bits that worked???) - however, still worth buying and at least they didn't go into space...

Instead of modern time warfare, the franchise decides to go back 100 years where, “the war to end all wars”, begin. Now to many people, it may seem to them that it might be too boring because WW1 was very low on technology, weapons, and gear back in the past. But seeing the gameplay and the trailer, it is unbelievably fantastic and stunning. Just seeing the gameplay and improvements makes the gamer get into the action and play more. The big question, is this the best Battlefield game ever made of the franchise? When the first trailer came out, I watched it and first thing I thought was, “Wow this is WW1 I’m seeing”. And also seeing the gameplay makes more exciting and intense. And this totally made me buy the game, and playing is breathtaking. The game was fantastic, you get to play in the trenches, dog fights, ride horses, improved graphics, the savagery fight, and more destruction and chaos. Also multiplayer is really great, my favorite mode of playing multiplayer is operations, it’s a large scale map, and you either need to defend your sectors or conquer it. If you are someone that is a gamer and loves to play first shooter games but not those future fake warfare stuff, then I recommend buying this game. I think people would love this game because this is actual warfare that took place 100 years ago, and this game is very realistic to play. My preference of games, I like the realistic war games, either something in the past or modern. Now like future wack games like call of duty, to me they took it into future games, and that’s when I lost my favor of call of duty. So this makes Battlefield 1 the best game made in the battlefield franchise. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a solid one. But...

    the good:
+The game force you to play objectives over Rambo kill. This is not a spawn kill game anymore, at last, no like bf 1943 where spawn kill is the real way to win.
+ tanks still overpowered. Yes, tanks need to be overpowered, is a f*king TANK! tanks were a new invention in ww1 and they were the fear of every one. indeed u have many effective ways to destroy them.
+ no hackers on console, or may be there are but really few. Actually hackers are a big problem for the PC version, EA you need to work on that, it is one of the few problems on pc version but a BIG one. FIX IT!
+ New mode called OPERATIONS. this mode is a brilliant idea, it is a mirror of how war really is. The match can be really long.
+ The campaign mode has a very good storytelling.
+ The gameplay, graphics and sound are 10/10. Thanks DICE for your awesome job.
+ the colossus weapons. they big war machines the game give to the lose team when the game is half ended. (Armored train, a zeppelin and a battleship.)

    the bad:
    - the campaign mode is good but to short, about 5 hours. An ideal campaign mode should be minimum 12 hours for a shooter, especially a WW1 shooter were many, many things happened. History is big, an the campaign to short.
    - no russian or french soldiers so, no russian or french weapons. This is a big disappointment for a game taking place in WW1. They said it will be sale in expansion pack. but, but, i have payed 70$ for a complete game!!!! this expansion should be free. Take example on Rockstar, EA, they sale millions of copies of GTA 5 because they did a complete game and expansions are for free!
    - only 9 maps for lunch day. A new one coming for free in dec, i hope a night map. Anyway, maps still really big like in previous release, thanks for that.

the game have positive and negative points, like any other game. so, i want to thanks EA and DICE for bringing us a really nice era of the human history for a badass FPS game.

This is a gorgeously crafted game that unfortunately could not go beyond the flaws of its genre. I will keep this brief.

As has been said numerous times already, Dice has indeed pulled off its bet of a WW1 shooter, especially in terms of presentation. Graphics, sound design, level design and animation... fear not, this is all AAA level. Weather effects are especially impressive.

As has been said numerous times already, Dice has indeed pulled off its bet of a WW1 shooter, especially in terms of presentation. Graphics, sound design, level design and animation... fear not, this is all AAA level. Weather effects are especially impressive. However, any real semblance to WW1 stops here. In truth, despite a high level of polish and some originality, Battlefield 1 is still a more refined Call of Duty of sort.

Multiplayer is the core of this game and there is some welcomed variety in gameplay. Modes go from the epic, (the new multi-map Operations), to the annoyingly similar to Call of Duty (Team Deathmatch). I will not talk about War Pigeons.

Multiplayer's problem is that you'll still have to try to survive among the same confusing and erratic cat herd. There is no (possible) coordination among teams or squads (unless you play with friends, which is fun). You will get shot at from across the map. Tank drivers will drive with no consideration of you being in there. Pilots will crash the plane in the first 60 seconds about 50% of the time. You will learn to never count on medics reviving you. All the while, the immortal words of Dwight Schrute will echo in your head "We are no more a team than the people staying at a hotel are a team". Oh and that invisible grey blob hiding among grey rubble will shoot you right in the head.

Even the somewhat interesting but too short to be engaging mini-campaigns bear little ressemblance to how WW1 was actually fought. Unless you enjoy this kind of multiplayer experience (which it definitely succeeds at but does not transcend), I suggest you pass on this game -- even at a lower price than launch.

It feels so authentic and real and terrifying. The graphics and sound are stunning. Maps are brilliant and require skill, map knowledge and team work to accomplish objectives.

The campaign stories are both beautiful, well thought out, and often criticized for their one flaw. Leaving the player wanting to do so many more!!! Classes and squads matter, and each person is a valuable member of the team. I say this with the understanding that many players however may not know their value, or how to utilize the tools given to them provided they choose a class that benefits both their team and skill set. Regardless, Battlefield one is a joy to play, and will leave anyone breathless at the scope and beauty of the sights and experiences they are sure to have in almost every playlist available. Expand

    Graphics
The game looks amazing, from the textures to the particle effects - a true next-gen Battlefield game!
Motion capture has been used for the cut-scenes which makes the characters look far more realistic and expressive.

    Sound
The return to a classical score adds to the drama and suits the era well.
The voice acting is mixed - the foreign and British voices come across well but the American actors are terrible!
The shots, flame, explosions, vehicles and soldier banter all sound great... the horse sample however, is terrible! It sounds like The Sugar Hill Gang are scratching it :p

    Gameplay
I wasn't alone in being concerned about the weapons and vehicles that were used in WW1 but fortunately, Dice decided to drop historical accuracy in favour of playability which (pedantry aside) was the right choice.
The weapons are mostly usable but the class restrictions can be limiting. Mortars are great for defending objective-based games.
Sentry kits are a nice addition, available to pick up in certain spots in the game, they give you a unique weapon setup and armour. There's anti-tank, flame-thrower and a very powerful and rapid SMG.
There's a decent selection of tanks and aircraft (if you can find them) but the bike is atrocious.
The horse is a nice addition but overpowered - you can charge against 10 guns and come out mostly unharmed. It's annoying however when your horse gets stuck on a random bit of scenery as standing still will get you killed very quickly.
The Reinforcement vehicle (Train / Dreadnought / Blimp) is another nice addition - the idea is to grant the ailing side a chance of getting back into the game with a powerful armoured vehicle... I've seen it turn the battle a few times but mostly, it's poorly utilised by a selfish pilot who just wants to boost their own kill count, rather than getting close enough to the necessary base so that all gun emplacements can be used effectively. They need to take the most powerful gun away from the pilot seat to fix this.
There's a decent selection of maps but after just 2 weeks, I'm already thirsting for more.
There's the usual CQ, Rush, Domination and Deathmatch game modes but couple of new modes: War Pigeons and Operations.
War Pigeons is a close-quarter fight where you have to acquire a pigeon and stay alive long enough for you to attach & release a message - a bit of fun for 10 minutes but no lasting appeal for me.
Operations is immense! It's what Rush should be. It's a multi-stage Rush-style game where you have to capture and retain all bases in a sector - if you do, you clear out remaining defensive forces and push on to the next sector, signalled by trench whistles and the rousing cheers of your countrymen - if you fail, you get 2 more pushes but importantly, you get a reinforcement vehicle after a failed push.
It's incredibly tough to complete Operations when attacking (especially the 3-stage "Oil of Empires") but it's the best addition to Battlefield game modes in a very long time.
The single-player "War Stories" are very good and definitely worth playing.

    Summary
If you only buy one FPS this year, make it BF1!
Occasional glitches (going under the map or being unable to shoot), server and squad joining issues prevent me from giving it a 10 but it's the most functional BF game at release that I can remember.

Now to be honest the highlight for me remains battlefield bad company 2 with the return of the lovable losers in the campaign and the incredibly fun multiplayer. With a ton to unlock, destructible environments, and great large maps with close quarter combat amongst infantry and vehicles abound. The later entries improved on this with an okay story line for single player but ever increasing fun to be found in multiplayer. Now not to say that they did not have issues with glitches, connections, or just plain crashing in the middle of a game. However this was nothing compared to the slow plodding game play in the story mode if I could actually finish a chapter without it constantly crashing and sending me out to the xbox menu screen. I never did finish the story mode due to this issue happening every few minuets could not advance so I decided to switch over to multiplayer. Between the long drawn out operations mode which gives multiple chances for an enemy to take an objective as well as huge support units that can really unbalance the match for defenders. When in control they seemed unresponsive and inaccurate with weapons failing to hit its target over and over. The unlocks are few and far between with only a few unlockable early on with no real progression with the ranking system unlike previous entries. This unfortunately goes right into the battle pack system with the parts of weapons being unlocked rather than an entire firearm. The lack of weapons and gear to unlock makes every unit operate pretty much the same where as in previous entries you could mix and match to find what works best for you. I got none of that in this entry as for the vehicles they handle well for the most part horse took time to get used to the planes still handle like crap but slightly better learning curve. The only positive is the incredible sound design and graphics. Expand

This is not a perfect 10 by any long shot (pun intended) but the multiplayer is solid and connection issues are few and far between. But there are some annoying bugs and the lack of customisation is a let down too, the battlepacks are given out randomly and only ever contain weapon skins.

EA seem to have included some Battlefront style pick ups too, like the suit or armour (cant remember what its called) which basically feels like the Juggernaut perk from older Call of Duty games.

The gameplay online is also very much like its competition, you will spawn behind enemies and they will spawn behind you. The maps are much more compact and encourage rushing in, the focus is now on ground combat it seems.

It all feels a little barren and here's whats missing (at launch) that was present in past BF games:

    *Commander Mode
    *Hardcore
    *Customisation of soldier
    *Customisation of weapons
    *Squad game modes

It had one of the best intros I've ever seen in a video game. Before I even saw the main menu, I was thrown right into the middle of a giant battle with what seemed to be the Americans and the Germans. Each time I died, I switched to the perspective of a new character, really giving a feel for how many people died in World War 1. This prologue is the first of 6 War Stories, Battlefield 1's campaign. Each one tells a different story of a soldier in the war. I will admit that I enjoyed some more than others, but the overall experience is good. It is short, however, only running at about 6-7 hours long. But the multiplayer is where Battlefield 1 truly stands out. All of the regular Battlefield modes have been brought back, but one new addition is Operations, in which you take over territory on a large map, then push forward to a different map once you've taken the first one. It's easily the best part of Battlefield 1, and I've already invested a number of hours into it. Some of my favorite moments have come from playing Operations, and I have no doubt that they'll keep coming. Now I bet a lot of you are asking the same question: does this game have microtransactions? Well no, actually. Points to EA because you can't purchase Battlepacks with actual money. I didn't expect to see restraint from them in this area. One problem that I do have with this game is all of the "coming soon" options you see in the menu. It's clear that this will be included as DLC down the line. It's a minor problem, but that and the short length of the campaign keep Battlefield from being a 10. That doesn't stop this game from being incredible, though, as Battlefield 1 is easily the best entry in the franchise yet. I didn't expect this to be a game of the year contender, but that's exactly what it is. 9/10. Expand

+ New airships/train/battleship reinforcements. These new additions can really help during a game in which would usually come off as vastly imbalanced. Depending on the gap in the scores the losing team in certain modes gets reinforcements in the shape of a tank/ an airship or a train depending on the map. I rarely see a game with a large score gap as the reinforcement vehicles do a great job of balancing up the teams.

+ The new bayonet charging mechanic. A nice new mechanic that suits the World War I era as bayonets were commonly used. Its also a good last resort weapon if you run out of ammo and the other time you would have to be close to your enemy but you can switch between using a normal melee and the charging bayonet.

+ Single player. Over the years the battlefield series has lost its footing with the single player campaign trying to duplicate what COD did with modern warfare only for it to seem badly written or over patriotic. The BF1 campaign is a surprisingly good campaign certainly making it one of the best campaigns of battlefield in recent years.

+Soundtrack. The new soundtrack is an absolute wonder in this game and really adds to the games and adrenaline rush you have while playing. I still sometimes get goosebumps when charging over the hills and the heroic soundtrack blares out over the gunfire. Its such a fantastic feeling.

+Operations mode. A new mode that allows players to relive certain battles of World War I with having two teams of attack and defence with the attacking team's objective to capture all objectives which is spread out over two maps. The attacking team gets 3 battalions to capture all objectives to win the round.

    Negatives:

    - Environments are too open for snipers. It seems that Dice tried a mix of open areas mixed with closed village quarters but unfortunately even the villages are too open for snipers and since World War I has mainly rifles it makes it all too easy for long range weapons to hit their target.

    - Operations mode was fun for the first week but has suddenly turned to become a very frustrating mode which is largely imbalanced. The attacking team can barely make it past the first 2 objectives in most maps and 19 out of 20 times they will lose. A lot of it is down to the inept players who don't think about any strategy but it always ends the same way. Dice will need to balance it out if they want people to continue to play it.

    - The campaign has too many characters and is too short. Only 5 hours long with 5 different characters it tries to make the player care about the characters in the stories but when the stories are so short and there are too many characters it is hard to feel any empathy towards them.

    - Locking squads is a baffling decision by Dice. I don't understand the point of allowing players to lock squads. It completely disregards the point of teamwork and the squads itself. Most of the time I play I see 1 or 2 players in a squad by themselves and its locked. Just makes no sense and needs to be taken out.

    - Frostbite physics are still awkward. So many times my player has refused to jump a small object or get stuck in something tiny. The driving physics for the motorcycles and trucks are really weird and the handling is all over the place.

    - Gas grenade is abused. Anywhere around an objective players throw 4-5 gas grenades and while everyone puts on masks it feels like the battlefront game where everyone was hip firing and hoping to kill the other player first.

    - Unable to spawn on squad member under fire. I don't understand why I cant. By all means warn me but surely its my decision whether I want to spawn on a squad member being shot at.

    - Skipping the spawn waiting time. Another mechanic which allows the player to skip the re-spawn waiting time only to then wait to re-spawn at a chosen location. Absolutely zero point to it and players don't wait for medics and instantly re-spawn which discourages medics to bother being medics.

Overall the first 20 hours of this game are a blast and I had a lot of fun with it but over the last 10-15 hours I am enjoying it less and less and I played over 300 hours of Battlefield 4 and it never bored me. Its a step in the right direction as I love the World War settings but there's a lot to be fixed as well.

    A WW1 skin of BF4.

Still reasonably solid, but not particularly fun or revolutionary. Snipers and Tanks will usually rule the roost, but if you can't overcome it, you are probably not good enough.

BF1 has single-handedly brought them back from the dead. They have dared to turn the norm on its head.

The main story-line is absolutely epic. Engaging in REAL battles that actually happened during the first world war is not only thought inspiring its actually informative too. WW2 Europe is as deadly as it is beautiful.

The graphics are what next gen are supposed to be, Crystal clear. Movement is fluid and loose. The sounds and voice actors are spot on. The environment is brutal and as realistic as your gona get.

Multiplayer is such an improvement on all previous shooting games. BF1 is all about team work and supporting your squad. Rewards are based on objectives, not kills. This gets rid of the camping douchebags of other FPS games hiding in corners with a shotgun and popping off enemies to get in that precious unearned air support.

Battlefield1 absolutely owns all other first person shooters. The dominance of money grabbing 'Call of Kerching' is long dead.

Go buy BF1 now, you wont be disappointed.

Literally anyone can play it and have a good time without needing to worry if your jet get's shot down once again due to a missile you haven't unlocked, getting pwned by someone 100 levels away with crazy and ridiculously powerful guns, or just by crazy environments. This game as perfectly balanced a lot of things such as the weapons and vehicles. Leveling up also seems to be easier than the past games that took forever to get something of worth. The soundtrack and story campaign was orchestrated beautifully and made me want to listen to it again and again. But however this game does have a few flaws. The story/campaign was a bit shorter than I expected for a non perfectionist player and there were only about 50ish weapons in total compared to the countless offered in the past games. Also, the lack of customization in the whole weapons concept concerned me a bit other than the skins (Which are great as they aren't too flashy and "CoDish" and are how weapons skins are supposed to be like.) The lack of vehicles also concerned me but that is understandable. Overall. This game was worth every single penny I paid Expand

Dice brings back Battlefield with an all new installment in the franchise, taking us all the way back to World War 1. World War 1 was the world that shook and changed the world, it was the said to be the wars to end all wars, does this installment live up to its potential or does it die in the trenches? let's find out.

So let us start off with the campaign, in Battlefield 1's campaign you will play as six different soldiers, a British tank driver, an American pilot, an Italian brute soldier looking for his brother, a female soldier working alongside Lawrence of Arabia, legend of the Australian army and, an African American foot soldier fighting deep within the trenches of Europe. Across these journeys, on different continents of the world, you will experience different things like tank battles in a town square in France, dog fights over the fields of Germany, horseback fighting in the middle east. During the course of the campaign in just about every section, you will end up doing some stealth just so you do not get obliterated by every soldier in the area.

The campaign is not where it is at in this game though while being very good it's multiplayer that makes you really appreciate the game. The multiplayer consist of an all new operations mode which is what I have played the most, in a nutshell, operations is rush mode but on a bigger scale. The multiplayer gives you that true sense of what it was like being in the war at the time the dirty warfare of the trenches and, being in no man's land trying to pick off your opponent. You feel a shot of adrenaline pump through your veins when running from an opponent shooting at you through the trenches and the muddy field or, watching as an enemy tank rolls right over you while you hide out in a hole in the ground.

Battlefield 1 may have taken us back to a war that has not been done in many games to this scale, but it's a step in the right direction for Dice and EA. The campaign was short but sweet with very little issues and, the online is amazing and truly one of a kind experience that you won't find anywhere else.

EA and Dice made their marketing on the fact that it was about the 1st world war, where is it?
France and Russia not there, automatic weapons everywhere, super tanks that go super fast.

But this games bread and butter, at least for the cost of $60, is clearly in the multiplayer. This is where most players will probably spend their time and justify their expense. For me, I just cannot get into the multiplayer. I don't understand it, and I am not good at it. I feel like I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off, not sure where to go next and what to do, and when I finally get a small sense of direction and what my goal is - I die! Wait for the respawn and then hop in and do it again. It is just "wash and repeat" for me, which is no fun. To be fair this is how all multiplayer games are for me, not just this game. If you love multiplayer games, then this game will probably be for you. But those who are looking for a nice satisfying single-player campaign (which I would give a 9 score for that), I would wait for the price to come down to around $25. It is a really nice campaign, just too short to spend $60 in my opinion. I made the mistake of buying this game digitally (my bag). Now I am stuck with a game I may only play one more time in the single-player. Should have bought disc and then sold for $45 on Glyde, but lesson learned I hope. Expand

This is the most fun I've had with any multi-player game in ages... maybe ever, and the solo campaign is excellent as well. I haven't turned into a CoD hater, but this is a case of the long time #1 selling FPS becoming stagnate while the primary competitor is hungry, innovative and willing to take risks. The best part of the multiplayer? It's really mind boggling how well they have captured the essence of real warfare, and what it might have been in WW1. Basically, if you are an idiot who runs around above trenches with their potato grip SMG, you're going to die. If you play smart, and calculate your movements, you'll be consistently at the top of the charts. The less you die, the better your performance.

Why this game is not a 10 is that there are some odd design choices. The menus are atrocious, reminiscent of Windows 10, laggy as hell, and lack certain functionalities in key places. It feels like the menus were not properly tested before launch.

Secondly, there are some balancing issues currently, that are in no way game breaking, but should be addressed post haste. My personal pet peeve is how strong the medic class is right now in terms to available equipment and guns.

Overall, although using the horrendous cash-grab tactics, this is an excellent game.

Battlefield 1 is one of the best looking shooters to date. I play the game on my PS4 but even on that it is stunning. Complaining about lag or saying that any shooter in the last 10 years looks better suggests you need a better PC.. The game is beautiful and plays fantastic. True enough it's tougher to hit your target without red dots, stabilizers, etc. is challenging but considering the game is set in WWI that's only part of its realism. Battlefield 1 is less forgiving that its competition but the sheer magnitude of its maps and multiplayer fun is unparalleled. I have played a lot of different shooters from Black, Killzone, CoD to Battlefield and Battlefield 1 is by no means perfect but it is an absolutely great game with amazing visuals and good clean fun.
I suggest people that hate the game to turn to CoD to have fun and leave semi-realistic shooters like Battlefield to the people that love them. By all means rate the game anyway you like but don't give it a 10 (because its not perfect) and don't give it a 1 (just because you have beef with EA or hate Battlefield).
Rate the game because you want to contribute not play fanboy or hater..

Chaos. Bombs. Explosions. Chaos. Airplanes. Bombs. Explosions. Tanks. Bombs. Explosions. Chaos.

It's just like that every single multiplayer round. Overwhelming randomness with no rewards. This game lacks everything i like online shooters for. No depth, no tactics (if you believe you playing with your four mates in squad can change the outcome of 64 player battle then think again).

Chaos and randomness with no depth. It gets boring very fast. Character/account progression doesnt exist on this game. Rank 10 weapons are mediocre and often worse than the beginners ones (cough cough medic class). I know for sure i wont be getting season pass since new expansions will most likely be just the same chaos and explosions but on just different maps. Money wasted.

Battlefield 1 is absolutely stunning, from the campaign to the multiplayer and DICE has outdone themselves! But the real star is Operations.. it's the stand out game mode in Battlefield 1, and the only one I ever want to play!

I would give the campaign a solid 10/10 and multiplayer about a 7/10. I felt like a lot of the conquest maps were designed maybe for more people likely on PC, and I didn't like unloading a full clip into a guy on a cav at about point blank range and him still being fine it seemed like. Yet when I switched game modes to domination which takes the vehicles out of it, I felt a lot more likeI would give the campaign a solid 10/10 and multiplayer about a 7/10. The gameplay for this game is really good, however the campaign is broken up into six different small campaign stories. They have a good story to them and it is entertaining. For multiplayer, it seems really unrealistic at times in the fact that u can hit someone in the head three times and they shoot u once and u die, as of now there r limited amount of game modes and maps

I have 32 hours invested in the multiplayer so far and just a few of the first levels in the campaign completed, so I will be focusing mostly on the multiplayer.

Right off the bat I knew I was going to enjoy the game and how the controls felt, I've been playing BF's since Bad Company, but truly got into them during BF3 and the controls felt right on par with the prior BF games. Flying in the 3 airplanes that they give you is fluid and much easier than in previous games and I've found myself crashing into tall trees or sides of mountains much, much less. The vehicles, which I've spent most of my time in the heavy tank, feel like they should, they're slow, but sturdy and they get the job done with whichever vehicle you choose. Say you want to get around the map quicker in the light tank because you can drive down allies better than in a land ship ( I like to call it the land shark) or heavy, you have that option. Then you have the land ship which is great for squads who are communicating due to there being two heavy guns that can take out tanks much quicker than the other two options. And then there are the infantry controls, which have not changed much from the prior BF's and feel great to control.

The weapons that are given this time around do take some time to get used to, you're not going to be able going in guns blazing with the medics weapons, but are very effective at medium range. The assault class can be very useful for taking out tanks and the trench guns/shotguns are both great options for closer quarter maps and sections. I haven't played very much support yet, but it's mostly the light machine guns that we've been used to in prior games. Then the scout class, some of the options are more effective depending on the circumstances or the map. There is a rifle that does not have a scope, but can down enemies in one shot even when you're not hitting them in the head, but there are also choices for long range scenarios. I've found a gun for most of the classes that I enjoy using, I just wish we could have more options, since it seems like we have 4-5 choices of guns total per class and then they just added different attachments to call it something else. Last on the classes, the special classes that randomly spawn on the maps are a great addition which add more depth to the game, my favorite being the flamethrower class because when is it not fun to burn your foes in a game?

We have our normal BF game modes such as Rush and Conquest and then the other normal FPS modes, but they've added a new game mode War Pigeons. This mode is where each team is trying to get to the pigeon that spawns on the map first, collect it, and then run out into the open to let it fly away ( it can be shot down by the enemy ), and ultimately call in an artillery strike on your enemies. Then we have Operations, this mode ( or multiplayer story ) is a game mode where one team is attacking different objectives while the other team is defending. It sounds pretty basic, but they've incorporated a story for each different map and these games can sprawl across multiple levels depending on if the attackers are doing well enough to advance to each new area. The defenders each get 3 tries to take all of the areas in the map and after the first time the attackers are unsuccessful, they're given one of the 3 behemoth 'vehicles' which can be a zeppelin that flies over the map, a train than has massive guns and mortars attached to it, or a huge ship called the Dreadnought. This mode has so far been my favorite and make for some epic battles when those behemoths spawn.

The graphics and sound are on par with some of the other games on the market right now and the scale of some of the maps in this game made for some of the prettiest sights in games I've seen in a long time. The guns sound like I'm actually shooting them and I love the iconic sound of when you shoot your last bullet in some of the semi-automatic guns.

My grief with the game so far are the amount of game modes, or lack there of , we were given for launch and then the fewer amount of guns we see here. ( Yes, I understand the time setting ) Here's hoping we can see some really great maps and modes in the DLC, even though that'll sadly split up the multiplayer into people who purchased the DLC and those who just wanted to stick with the base game... Maybe Dice will realize this isn't the best business model and could start taking pointers from CD Projeckt Red.

Overall: Great multiplayer that could be a full package with the controversial DLC model they've chosen again this time, that has great replay value. I recommend this to fans of the previous BFs and new timers looking for a solid FPS to play this fall.

A spectacular game. Exactly where the FPS genre needed to go. Battlefield has created a campaign that feels authentic, emotional and educational. O melhor FPS de todos os tempos. Famoso ''COD KIller'', veio pra destruir, concorrente ao GOTY sem dúvidas. Parou com a palhaçada de futurismo e voltou à época de ouro, primeira guerra mundial.

Despite a very short campaign, Battlefield 1 still offers the best single-player experience in the series. Mix it with a huge, brilliant multi-player that the series is known for and you have an almost complete package. Definitely the best approach to World War 1 yet.

The rougher edges of WWI make Battlefield a louder, fiercer, more engaging shooter. But the carefully interwoven campaign and multiplayer aspects show a more reflective side. [Christmas 2016, p.86]
