I'm 6 hours in and I'm totally amazed by this game. Such love of details, gameplay brought to perfection, breathtaking visuals and cinema-like presentation . Batmobile is of course a question of taste thematically but I really welcome the gameplay innovation and variation it brings. So far the best current gen game I played next to The Witcher 3.

I found Arkham Knight underwhelming at first (been there done that in Arkham City). But once it gets going, and the Joker worms his way brilliantly into the storytelling, I found this to be the best Batman game yet. The Batmobile is annoying at first, but once you get the hang of the freaky controls, I found it to be a pure video game blast. I made over 90% completion, which is about 50% more than usual for me - I don't like to waste my life running around after collectible crap in video games, but damn if this game isn't addictive. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphically astounding, technically brilliant and compelling in both terms of gameplay and story - this is by far the best game of the Arkham series.

Gotham looks wonderful. If you go somewhere like Grand Avenue with all the brightly coloured signs, it really shows how good they designed the world - they have the balance right between bright colours and darkness. In comparison with Arkham City, which was - comparatively - quite dull, Arkham Knight's Gotham looks incredible. Not only that, but it's easy to transverse. The new grapple boost allows for higher and faster gliding, so you can always get to your objective quickly. You can also have the Batmobile launch you into the air - again, making travelling across the map a lot easier. With the way that gliding and diving appears visually, it is also a pleasure to transverse.

The gameplay still follows the same pattern as Arkham Asylum and City, but it has been improved. It feels a lot smoother, for one. It also feels a lot more precise than the other games in the series. There has also been the inclusion of Fear Takedowns, which allow up to five enemies to be taken out in a matter of seconds - as long as you get close enough without them seeing you.
Some people would say that the Batmobile is "forced" on the player, but I disagree. It has brought something new in terms of gameplay to the series, and that is all. Of course Rocksteady would like to put an emphasis on it - but in all fairness, Batman is facing an army of unmanned tanks. What else do you expect him to do, apart from getting a tank of his own?
The Batmobile handles well, and driving it is a lot of fun. I have no idea why people complain about it.
Rocksteady have also incorporated an aspect of Arkham Origins - the crime scene reconstruction - which makes a welcome return. I enjoyed doing that in Origins, and was glad to see that you use it more frequently - and it has been improved, so it is more of a puzzle and less of a "scan the dots".

Now about the story. One aspect of the series, which was present in Arkham Asylum - but not in City or Origins - was the horror factor. I was glad to see that it was back in Arkham Knight. The game has a good atmosphere, which gets pretty creepy at times. There are also several jump scares in the game, as well as a little comedy in there too. Joker's blood which was injected into Batman in Arkham City causes him to hallucinate the Joker occasionally - and he always has something amusing to say.
Which brings me on to the next aspect of the story - the psychological factor. Arkham Knight seems to get into the head of Batman more so than the other games, or any of the films - and that's not just because there is part of the story set inside Batman's mind. It deals with the psychology of the Dark Knight which few mediums manage to do well. It also allows you to get to know the Joker's mind a lot better. Arkham Origins did this in a sense, when Joker was talking to Harleen Quinzel - but I have to say, one of my favourite parts of this game was when you get to play as the Joker (in a sense).
In terms of the main story - after getting mauled by Killer Croc in Arkham Asylum, the Scarecrow has returned to seek revenge on Batman and to transform Gotham into a "city of fear" - with the aid of a masked man who calls himself the Arkham Knight. Although the game itself is as subtle as a tonne of bricks with who the Arkham Knight actually is - it was hardly a surprise, regardless. Only those who have no previous knowledge of the DC Universe would need the assistance of the cutscenes/hallucinations to figure it out. Still, finding out how the Arkham Knight was 'born' was quite enjoyable.
Even though the main story should be about the Scarecrow and Arkham Knight - you get the sense that the Joker steals the show, and there are no complaints from me about that. Mark Hamill's performance as the legendary villain is, once again, absolutely superb. The best portrayal of the character ever made, in my opinion.

There is only one last thing to cover. The DLCs. I have and have played all of the DLCs so far, and I have enjoyed all of them. Yes, they may be short - but they only cost a few pounds, so what do you expect? That does not stop them from being enjoyable. Some, including the Harley Quinn story pack, the Red Hood story pack and the Matter of Family DLC add characters that you can use during AR Challenges, which are a lot of fun.
I have to say, my two favourites are the Harley Quinn story pack and the Matter of Family DLC. The Harley Quinn story pack (for those who don't know) features the poor, lonely, extremely psychotic sidekick trying to free Poison Ivy from prison. Beating the **** out of Nightwing was the highlight.
Meanwhile, the Matter of Family DLC is about Batgirl and Robin attempting to free Jim Gordon from the clutches of the Joker and Harley Quinn, in an abandoned amusement park.

This game is worth playing. One of the best games I have played for a while. Very fun

To be honest I didn't expect much from this game. But AK surprised me. It was better than I thought it would be.

Aside from a few visual glitches here and there (pre-patch in was raining inside the clock tower, *lol*) this is by far the most visually stunning of the Arkham games. It is Gorgeous and Gotham is lovingly detailed. Voice acting is on par with previous titles. Gameplay

Voice acting is on par with previous titles.

Gameplay wise nothing much has changed. AK more or less does the same as in the previous games adding little new of note. With exception to the Bat mobile which is a nice idea but seems most of the time to be a very forced gameplay mechanic. Gotham this time round feel smaller than before. Predator areas are not as prominent as in previous titles and this time round seems to favour H2H combat and bat mobile combat. A pity as the predator sections of the previous titles were my favourite.

Story is alright but not on par with previous iterations. However the surprise inclusion of a certain character was very creative and well done (even though one was lead to believe it not possible.)

    Overall:
Arkham Knight is not the worst but also not the best of the series. It tries a bit too hard to innovate but unfortunately it still feels to much the same. The Bat mobile is just forced too much and the game does lose a bit of the Batman feel to it.

The first and second games of this series were the best. Asylum's story was much better than any other, and City allowed for the most unique gameplay letting one be Catwoman in the story and then 4 different characters for challenge maps. Only problems were the weak 3rd act and repetitive tank battles. Also of note, this game has some of the best voice acting in a game

I really tried to get into the game but nothing clicked for me. I just find Batman, as a character, not appealing at all. In fact, the villains and enemies, are all..i dunno..cheesy is the word i guess. Yeah the whole game world feels cheesy, I just could not get into it. If you're looking for a realistic, atmospheric and immersive game, this isnt it.

I gave up on the game after the point where I had to save 5 or 8 officers using the batmobile. Argh, so exasperating. And the combat is, i cant believe that people are gushing abt it, but OMG the combat is boring. It's like the complete opposite of Bloodborne/Dark Souls..tooooo easy.

Story wise, lame. I really hated how they made it so convenient that the whole city had to be evacuated, just to fit in their gaming development constraints. I mean come on! The Witcher 3, Fallout, Mad Max, AssCreed, had living worlds with NPCs moving about with daily routines. This world is just full of criminals running amok and supervillains leading them. Its lazy writing is what it is.

The ONLY batman game i really enjoyed was the very first one, Arkham Asylum cos that game was tight! Quality instead of quantity. Speaking of which, the true ending of this game is hidden behind The Riddler's endless tasks. Absolute wank.

In conclusion, play this ONLY IF you're a Batman fan..or if this ends up on PS+ one day.

All the Supervillians of Batman of the so called 'rogues gallery' are included. Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, Scarecrow, Ivy etc etc. Even the very much dead Joker!

The Batmobile on the whole is a cool addition, but can get a little annoying at times when you have no option but to use it. Schooling the Militia tanks with the missile barrage however is pretty sick!

Overall Arkham Knight is another solid addition to the never disappointing series. Just a shame Rocksteady has decided to bring it to an end. Such fun games to play!

Not too sure what some peoples problem is giving it a zero? If you liked AA, AC or AO there is absolutely no reason why you wouldn't like this. Its more of the same! Stop hunting for perfection, you aint gona get it!

The worst of the game is turning the super hero adventure into just another open world game where you have to take down bases and watchtowers. It's more like Far Cry: Batman than actual Batman. Actually, it gets even worse because many times in the game you cannot progress the main story until you wander around the map and find enough side missions to pursue. Then there's the Batmobile.

At first blush, the Batmobile seems like an interesting addition to the game, and it turns into a tank so you can shoot "unmanned" drones. Then the it quickly becomes clear that the game requires you to use the Batmobile every other mission and constantly upgrade it to complete those missions. The game then becomes part driving, part tank fighting, and part actual Batman game. Only one of those is really worth playing. Maybe I would enjoy the Batmobile more if it was more driveable, faster, and less prone to slide into buildings and off bridges.

The actual story in the game is greatly presented but actually pretty short when you subtract the Batmobile sequences and all of the time you spend running around looking for mandatory side missions. The encounters with the side villains are slight, such as stopping a few bank robberies and then punching the villain just like any other goon. The Riddler missions are more extensive, but even they waste time by requiring Batman to traverse the city to find and then solve simple puzzles. I can imagine a better game presenting truly difficult Riddler puzzle that the player could solve while the game is paused, and then watch the Riddler's astonished face as Batman once again proves his mental superiority.

As far as the real Batman part of the game goes, it works wonderfully. The story is classic Batman, the brooding loner against all odds to save Gotham from his sadistic and psychologically damaged foes. Batman has his usual counter moves and gadgets and as I player I felt confident taking on large groups of enemies. Some of the gadgets could use more oomph, and I'm surprised Batman's arsenal doesn't include a taser and other non-lethal ways to quickly take down enemies. I suppose when you have the strength and reflexes of Batman, your don't really need a lot of offensive gadgets.

All in all, Arkham Knight is a decent enough adventure but you have to be willing to accept repetitive Batmobile tank battles, base captures, and wandering around Gotham aimlessly in hopes of finding something fun to do.

It would have easily been an 8 if the batmobile sections weren't in them, or at least not so frequent. It improves on the features and mechanics of the previous two games otherwise. The story is a hodgepodge of ideas used before, but that's fine, since it's probably just paying homage to much of the source material and adaptations.

2.Too much of a tank fight. While I enjoy using batmoblie around the city, I don't think using it as a tank is a good way to do in Batman game. Sometimes it feels good but sometimes it does not, and if you rethink for a second, we buy this game because we want to play as batman, not a tank destroyer. Therefore, even the tank-fight mechanic is good (it is really good), it is not batman game. They should make a separate game for this.

The graphics are amazing, easily the best graphics of the current generation. The game is set in one singles night, a rainy one. The rain and light effects are superb. Facial expression from characters are really smooth and natural. Voice acting is quiet good.

But, besides that, there is nothing special, at least in a good way, to talk about this game. The story, unlike the most recent Batman movies (Dark Knight trilogy), is pretty silly, full of cheap dialogue lines. There is no complex villains, only the typical "Batman, I'm better than you, and I will prove it" kind of thing.

You know, games with Batman, or Star Wars brand on them are always going to target people that are more interested in their beloved franchise than in games. Perhaps that will explain he fact this game is always telling you what to do next, and how to do. Its the opposite of a game a like MGSV, that, despite featuring the same kind of final objective over and over, let you choose the approach for each mission, and as results, every single time you tried a specific mission you would get a different experience. That won't happen here. If you get ouf of Batmobile during another boring tank fight, Batman himself will tell you "I must get back to Batmobile, its under attack". If you try to hack a computer while no one else notices you, Batman you tell you "I need to eliminate the hostiles, before I can access the computer". If you try to open a door and explore more, Batman will come up with something like "I can walk around in Batman suit, its too suspicious", If you try to access a mission after losing enemies tanks, Batman will tell you "I can enter here, its too dangerous, I must eliminate all the enemies first". The game is always telling you what you can't do.

The core gameplay is pretty "meh": you have those fights that used to be great when first Arkham games were released years ago, but got pretty old in 2015. All you need to do is keep pressing one or two buttons untill you have taken down all your enemies. No doubt its a better experience than you will find in the terrible Mad Max, but behind of "Shadows of Mordor" experience. Really ironic, since that game took many elements from Arkham games, but in terms of gameplay raised the bar.

I found the puzzles unnecessary. Most of them are pretty unnimaginative. Thats not a Zelda kind of game, based in solving puzzles, finding keys, oppening doors and beating the next big boss, so its pretty annoying that you will find yourself in front of a closed door, and you need to find a way to let you Batmobile in. I said "Batmobile"?, Batmobile is eveverywhere. Actually, most part of the game you will spend driving the Batmobile.

Batmobile is no fun to drive, it has a pretty bad gameplay, and feels like a bumper car. Some missions require you to find a way to let the Batmobile access the roof of a building, since its the only way to open a door, not to mention the boring tank fights. They are everywhere. I keep wondering what they were thinking when they decided to give the Batmobile this kind of important role in this game, worst than that, you keep wondering why they forced you to use the Batmobile.

The "open world" is amazing to look at, and to fly around, but it feels empty, not because the city was evacuated, but because all you can do there is the same boring fights, and many areas you can't even access on foot, since the enemy tanks will kill with one singles shoot, so you must use the Batmobile (again!).

PS4 versions, despite the great graphics, don't run 100% okay. During some explosive action I found that the game was on the verge of crashing.

The best aspect of the game was Batman Joker hallucinations. There is no game around that explored surrealism in a better way than Batman Arkham Knight, its a shame thats not enough to overshadow the boring gameplay, lack of freedom and unispiring story.

An excellent game, but with one very divisive flaw: The Batmobile.
Combat: The combat is the main reason the Arkham series' fame. And the combat is the best in any of the Arkham games. With LOADS of moves to unlock, and even more powerful and newer enemy types (Example: The medic can revive downed opponents and electrically charge them for more damage). The combat never gets stale.

Batmobile: Now this may be divisive. There is a lot of driving and tank combat in the game, especially in the main story. The batmobile is fun to drive, looks beautiful, and controls like a car in a good racing game. The tank combat is fun, but it gets stale after a while, and it lacks the depth or fluidity of on-foot combat. So, I recommend doing some side quests (which usually involve on-foot combat) in between bouts of Tank combat.
The City: Gotham is dark, violent, and incredibly gorgeous. The game from a technical standpoint runs like a dream on the PS4, though only 30 fps, its very stable. The graphics are beautiful, especially the textures and water. Exploring the city while gliding feels amazing, and my favourite thing to do in the game.
Story: Not gonna spoil anything. The story isnt as good as Asylum. We can see Batman get pushed to his moral and Psychological limit. While the main plot itself isn't too complex, the characters, dialogues and screenplay are movie-level. The game is very cinematic.
There are sidequests involving recurring villains like Penguin, Harvey Dent and Riddler, and also FireFly, which are all a blast to play through.
The game will last you 15 hours on main story, about 30-35 if you wanna do side quests.
Ultimately, it dependa on the batmobile tank combat. Check some gameplay footage to see what you feel about it.

I think the batman mobile addition is a good, but agree with reviews that the game feels like it forces you to use it. Fights that involve that car can be tedious and annoying.

Getting 100% ending is easy, but very time consuming.

Riddles are fun but some are incredibly stupid to find.

Overall, definitely worth a buy now that it is cheaper.

The PS4 version is not plagued by the bugs of the PC port. It is the final game in the Arkham trilogy (Origins was from a different developer). It has been 9 months since the events of Arkham City and the death of a certain character (No name given here because I don't know if this counts as spoiler even if it happened in the prequel). Scarecrow is threatening Gotham City with his fear toxin. The whole city is evacuated and Batman has to deal with this menace. Additionally there is a new enemy the Arkham Knight who knows far more about Batman then any other of his enemies. The story is good and immersive from start to finish. There is something that I cant spoil that makes it enjoyable and is a good twist or brilliant idea. Alone this makes the game better and I was most entertained. Lets say it is all inside his head ;-). However the Arkham Knight was disappointing. When you have even a little knowledge you think about who he could be and make a conclusion that it could not be a certain character as it would be much too obvious, a letdown and boring. It was that character and they advertised the Arkham Knight as something special and mysterious. The addition that we all were hyped for was the Batmobile. While being firstly satisfying and awesome it gets soon boring and repetitive or just overstayed its welcome. After a while you want to skip using it. Then there is the true ending. You have too solve all Riddlers trophies to get it. It is a waste of time as there are over 200 and I as nearly all others don't have the patience to do this (and skill for some if I am honest). Luckily there is YouTube for this. The gameplay is rock solid or stays at the formula of the Arkham games and the stealth and free flow combat system is satisfying. I must repeat that this games make you feel like Batman. It is still satisfying to use stealth to incapacitate one enemy after the other without getting seen or feel the impact of hits and counters in the free flow combat. I must however also admit that it gets a bit repetitive after 3 games. You get also new gadgets that are satisfying. Warning: Some can be missed or skipped. The graphic and representation is really good. The soundtrack helps to create a good atmosphere. I think I have enough dodged the bullet. Overall this is my least liked Arkham game. Some disappointments add up like the Batmobile, true ending, some parts of the (good) story and the identity of the Arkham Knight. Sounds maybe too harsh because it is still a good game but not as good and impressive as Arkham Asylum and Arkham City at their time. Expand

Story: The story is the best I have ever seen in a Batman game very strong with great character development the only thing I was disappointed was the very obvious reveal of the Arkham Knight and the ending which it was ok but I wanted something more for the ending of this epic games. The story will take you around 15 hours to complete although I have to say that I really did not like the fact that you have to complete the game at 100% to get the true ending.

Graphics: The graphics are amazing on of the best looking games out there.

Notes: The boss fights are **** sometimes you may not ever realize that you are in a boss fight. But I really like the new gadgets and the team combos you can do when you take control of the Nightwing the Robin and The Catwoman. In the end it is not a bad game just it was not what we expected I think that this is the worst Arkham game to date but that does not mean I did not like it or enjoy it this is a good game but I think you should wait for a price drop before you buy it.

My one complaint of the setting, is that the whole "noir" feel of the previous games felt down, which was a little of a disappointment, but not the big of a gripe. The combat is refined, smoothing out the remaining wrinkles in the streamlined combat the Arkham games are known for. Game play and mission types are diversified from previous entries in the franchise, adding more to the "beat thugs->interrogate-> track boss" equation of the series. However, the removal of the epic boss battles from the previous games left me gravely disappointed, and is one of the main reasons of this not getting 10. The boss battles were always looked forward to by me, they always left me thinking "holy sh*the that was awesome! I wonder how he's going to take down the next big Boss!" but alas, they were removed from the game, making the interactions with the villains more brief. The wide array of side missions merely beefed up an amazing game, adding even more amazing to an amazing package of amazingness. Alas, such a marvelous game is not without its downfalls, with Arkham Knights being the infamous Batmobile. The forced tank missions and grotesque Batmobile platforming sections made me sigh and groan into my dualshock, however i managed to power through it by keeping in mind that once i complete this, i can go back to a truly fantastic game. Now that's not to say i bemoan the addition of the Batmobile, i thoroughly enjoyed hauling and burning rubber along the streets of Gotham in a bad*ss tank of pure awesomeness. However, if Rocksteady had not made it required for such dreadful missions and merely let you use it for driving around, i whole heartedly believe the Batmobile would have been better received. Batman: Arkham Knight is a must for any fan of comics and or video games. It'll scratch the itch that was left to be desired after Arkham Origins, and does the franchise justice in ending it. Truly a must have on any gamers shelf. Expand

This review contains spoilers for the main story and some of the side quests.

Batman: Arkham Knight is a fitting send off for Rocksteady's trilogy that packs a lot of punch, but overuse of the Batmobile can make some parts of the game feel monotonous and repetitive.

    Presentation:

This is definitely the best looking game in the series, and one of the best looking games on the Playstation 4. The neon lights of the city and thebeautiful rain give the game a very dark, bittersweet feel. The detail on the characters, vehicles and locations is amazing. Watching the rain bounce off of Batman's costume and soak his cape never gets old, and the addition of a Photo Mode in an update lets players create some phenomonal in-game pictures. The sound design is also brilliant. The Batmobile sounds loud and ferocious, the combat is made more meaty and realistic as through the sound of hits connecting, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the game.

    Gameplay:

In terms of combat, Arkham Knight is as good as it was in Arkham City, with some new additions such as environmental takedowns that add even more flavour. You feel powerful but never so powerful that winning fights is a breeze, and there are endless opportunities to add variety with your moves. Stealth also feels just as great, and with the enemies now adapting to how you play, you must vary your moves to make sure they don't counter you and make you vulnerable. Enemy numbers in both Combat and Stealth are a lot higher this time, especially in Stealth, but the new Fear Takedown that lets you take out up to three enemies at once (five with upgrades) makes sure you never feel overwhelmed. However, it only requires one Silent Takedown to recharge your ability to perform a Fear Takedown, and so in some of the last few fights it seems a bit too powerful, especially if you have it upgraded.

The roster of gadgets feels better than ever, especially in Stealth, where the introduction of new enemy typse and Drones means you have to utilize your arsenal more than you did in the previous games. There are a few puzzles scattered throughout the story that require the use of gadgets, but they are so signposted that they require no more than 10 seconds to figure out, which is a bit of a letdown.

Now we come on to the Batmobile, one of the main features advertised for the game. At first it feels great, a powerful, hunking beast featured in battles against drones that feel desperate as you are vastly outnumbered. As you progress through the story though, the Batmobile seems to be forced in wherever possible, with endless tank battles in the final few hours and platforming puzzles utilizing the car that feel awkward and clumsy. It is also used in a side mission in which you defuse mines across the city, where the tank battles will really start feeling repetitive, and it is highly featured in the Riddler side quest, although the creative races here are a lot more fun than the platforming puzzles that are part of the quest. Also, there are a couple of sidequests (the roadblocks and the watchtowers)which involve hunting down locations and performing Combat/Stealth sections again, and again, and again, and for a completionist, these can feel very repetitive and boring, especially if you attempt the majority of them after completing the main story.

A major problem I have with the game is that by just playing through the story you do not earn enough xp to level up enough to make a difference quickly. Most powerful upgrades require at least 3 upgrade tokens, and most of the tokens are recieved from completing objectives in side quests. Overall, I levelled up and recoeved a token about 15-20 times in the main quest, which only let me focus on 8 or so upgrades. If you just want to play through the story at first, you won't feel much more powerful at the end than you did at the start. I highly reccomend you keep a good balance between the story and the side quests if you want to level up your character properly.

    Story:

The story is very similar to a lot of Batman stories, especially those in the Arkham series. The inclusion of the Joker in hallucination form is a welcome addition, and the writing is really good, but everything feels a little same old same old. As for the Arkham Knight, the titular character, his identity seemed pretty obvious after a series of flashbacks that seemed to scream "THIS CHARACTER IS THE ARKHAM KNIGHT", and so the reveal wasn't that surprising and didn't really affect me much. Overall it just feels too much like the past games, and can feel a little repetitive with the endless tank battles.

    + Great combat and stealth
    + Joker provides excelllent humour
    + Brilliant writing
+ Batmobile is powerful and fun...at first
+ Great variety in gadgets and moves
    - Batmobile combat is repetitive
    - Awkward Batmobile platforming
    - Repetitive side quests
    - Lacklustre reveals

The story, while not up to par with Origins or City, is still a joy to play through. It's always fun to go through another chapter of Batman's history. Unfortunately, the thing that really drags this game down is both its horrendous pacing (some sections in the story can be quite boring) and the Batmobile. I actually do not have that much of a problem with the Batmobile's combat. It is the puzzle-solving with the Batmobile that really takes it too far in my opinion.

Arkham Knight is not the most satisfying conclusion that Rocksteady could've developed for their saga, but it's not that bad. There is definitely some room for improvement. The only reason I'm giving this game a 8 instead of an 7 is because the excellent combat and stealth gameplay that has been built upon over the course of the series is still here and it's still great.

The controls don't feel as tight in this game (especially the marble-on-ice traction of the Batmobile), and it does end up suffering a bit from "Generic Sandbox Syndrome." Regarding gadgets, the Voice Synthesizer and Electrical Charge in this game could easily have been left out. In the end, it falls short of the progressively higher bar set by Asylum and City, but is still an enjoyable experience for any Batman fan. If you're not much into Batman, you can probably pass on this one.

All patched up and running acceptably on PC. Let's bring it down to the level.

Absolutely nothing works the way it is supposed to, absolutely nothing is polished (except for the graphics, which are lovely [but completely dysfunctional]), and absolutely nothing lives up to the previous Batman games.

Rather than polishing the experience up to a fine sheen, Rocksteady crammed everything they could think of into a disjointed romp of fan-boy lip service, all focusing on the twitch-based ability to tap 2 buttons at the right moment. Repeat until the endgame.

    1.) Graphics

They're gorgeous. Absolutely, amazingly gorgeous. Dark and gritty, with layers of detail at every turn, and gorgeous special effects...and all of it serves degrade the experience. 90% of the time you'll be unable to tell what you're looking at, because everything is a crisscrossing nightmare of catwalks, odd angles, and vision-obscuring clutter. This "noise" coupled with the most asinine camera control scheme I've ever encountered in a game means that you never get to appreciate anything your seeing. Details are either something blocking what's important or something whizzing by the foreground of the screen as the stupid "cinematic effect" kicks in and sends the camera automatically panning around to the most obscure and disorienting angle and zoom-level possible. And if you need to get a sense of what you can do or interact with, you tap a key to make everything disappear into a wash of flat blue, orange, and yellow -- literally turning your objectives in glowing neon signs. So very immersive.

On foot, you literally cannot see what's in front of you as half your field of vision is obscured by Batman himself. That's right. You cannot look FORWARD. You are forced to play the game by glancing down and to the left to see what's directly freaking in front of you. Rocksteady, you gotta be kidding.

    2.) Controls

I need to draw a comparison here between Batman: AK and the much older The Matrix: Path of Neo. Both games introduce a wildly complex combat system with insanely complicated combos. And both aim for the same goal -- you can get through the game by using nothing but the basic attacks, but you can invest in the system to get through fights with style! While Path of Neo offers awesome combos and take-downs that let you set up a fight for brilliant, improvised awesomeness, Batman: AK refuses to allow the player any meaningful control over combat, instead forcing them to react to predetermined attacks constantly shoved in the player's face by endless "alert icons" that appear over enemies' heads. The game is filled with interesting approaches to combat evidenced by huge trees of combo and technology upgrades. Good luck actually using them at will, however. Every single skill or gadget that you attempt to use during combat will either fail outright or execute in the most illogical way possible. I guess Rocksteady was trying to add difficulty to a game that can be won simply by spamming beat-down and execution attacks. Nice. Now you're punished for improvisation.

Oh, and unless you're a professional typist, be ready to exercise extreme levels of patience. Functions that should have been context sensitive are instead placed in brain-dead locations all over the keyboard, such as quick-attacks required the player to double-tap a number key. Have fun re-configuring keys and avoiding conflicts. Even then, trying to glide while locking onto specific enemies while tapping number keys and switching gadgets without releasing the spacebar... How about a simple system allowing you to queue the attacks in advance, then a single execute button when you're ready to launch. You know, like actual tactics and planning.

And the Batmobile is a wash. Tank-mode? Seriously? At least it's only ONE-THIRD OF THE DAMN GAME.

    3.) The Story

I know nothing about the Batman universe except for the Hollywood films and maybe 10 episodes of one of the cartoons I watched with my nephew a few years ago. It took me approximately two hours to figure out who the Arkham Knight was. Brilliant writing.

The rest of the story is a confusing, disjointed series of events and references that requires you to be familiar with the universe and/or the prior games.

    4.) Conclusion

Why a rating of 5? Voice acting is brilliant. Loved the Joker stuff -- Mark Hamill is my favorite Joker after Heath Ledger! And I really enjoyed wasting time and beating up random rioters in the streets. Best part of the whole game.

OK - if you love the series, you know this game is just like all the others. It's super formulaic now. It tries to come off as free world but the side quests and challenges aren't interesting - they get old quick. I get that this game tried to focus a bit more on the Batmobile and that's fun but now you have to use the Batmobile to get this done or get that done. I mean, timing your roof top jumps in the Batmobile was kinda like the jump the shark moment for me when I realized that Rocksteady was just grasping at straws here.
So here's the problem I see for the franchise and any potential upcoming games - if we don't, as fans, let the developers know that we demand more from our games, we won't get more. These games are all the same - let's be honest - the combat, the story, the gadgets - it's like a bunch of DLC released as new games.
Like I said, I love Batman and I've enjoyed the series but I'm hoping to see a fresh reboot.

The Batman Arkham series sadly ends on an almost flat note as the best thing about the final game is the superbly impressive graphics whilst i feel the story was lacking and the villains just turned out to be boring although on the bright-side the game play is still pretty good overall this game is playable though you'll want to go back to city or asylum halfway through playing this dull finale

This game is amazing. It has great graphics, great combat, and badass batmobile. The stroy is just pure amazing. I wont spoil anything but this game in the perfect way to end the series. The downside to the game is the lack of bosses. THe Arkham series always had awsome boss fights, but this game only had 2-3(cant remeber) But overall, this game is amzing!!

Cons? Dark, Comic DC atmosphere was sometimes so dark it was becoming funny. When graphics improved, some things that has worked previously became grotesque and unnatural (f.ex. Batman punch sound effects). If you did'nt like Nigma's "Riddles" you are getting much more of them here. And most of them are not riddles anymore.

The Rocksteady Batman games have all been good games. And this is no exception. With the best combat in the game and a huge open world whats there not to like? Well the Villain "The Arkham Knight" kinda was underdeveloped and you can guess who it is straight away and oh boy that bat mobile combat. Geez. Still fun game.

Although it isn't quite as good as 'Batman: Arkham City (2011)', it ends the story on a solid note and is a fantastic game from the second it begins. Its narrative picks up after the gloomy end of its predecessor, taking things in a somewhat new direction when Scarecrow - one of the highlights of the first game in the series - rolls into Gotham with a plan to bring it to its knees. There are some really interesting characterisations here and the title does quite a bit of exploration when it comes to Batman's innermost fears and anxieties. Of course, it also has a couple of less successful moments. However, the overall thing is compelling and entertaining right the way through. The gameplay is probably the most refined it has ever been, tightening up series-staple mechanics while introducing several new gadgets and abilities. The combat is as deep and fluid as you'd expect, while the predator encounters are as challenging and suspenseful as ever. It's all really exciting and often contextualised within its wider world. That's because this time the entire city is explorable, from its highest rooftops to its shabbiest alleys. Soaring over the rain-soaked city as searchlights blaze their circles into the sky is simply stunning. Beneath its grimy aesthetic, the game really is gorgeous; the jump in generation between this title and the last is evident. The thing's most major new mechanic is the Batmobile, which has proven controversial among fans. Personally, I think it's a great addition. The car mode provokes an intense feeling of speed and the tank mode satisfyingly allows you to deal out some heavy damage. Perhaps it is leaned on a little too heavily in some scripted segments and in some of the Riddler's puzzles, but it's an enjoyable element of the experience that never truly feels cumbersome. Besides, it can launch you into the air, which is indescribably fulfilling. The city itself is peppered with stuff to do, all of which progresses side-plots than can result in you apprehending several well-known villains. This is great because it means that there is no busywork. It really is a treat to see your progress in real time, as Gotham PD fills up with the likes of Two-Face and the Penguin. Of course, there's also the elusive Riddler to contend with. He's put his trophies all over the place yet again and given you another set of lore-based riddles to solve. They're all tied to a series of 'Saw (2004)'-like traps and, this time, the completion of thse bring you one step closer to freeing Catwoman (who has been captured by the rogue and assists you in her own escape). This a great way of making the Riddler stuff seem even more urgent than it has before, as it directly impacts a playable character who is an important part of the series. The game, as a whole, has a strong sense of urgency to it. It supposedly plays out in real time and it pushes the Dark Knight to his limits. It's filled with effective storytelling, engaging characters and exciting gameplay. It's an extremely enjoyable experience. 10/10 Expand

I was excited about this game with new graphics and stuff then I got to play it in August. Almost from the first step you take you have to use that piece of *&@{} Batmobile like a 9-year-old how just got a new toy. Okay I understand, if one day I will get an Audi I will go to the store and drive circles around my house with it, even take the car with myself to walk by my side. Its fun but that became hilarious after some missons. Every damn time after you punch some dudes in the face than you dont know where to go and a lil' batsound in your heard starts to say "come on bat, use your new vehicle" or Joker says "Ohh Baaaatz, you need to use something that moooves and has wheels". Its weird but you will know this feeling after playing for an hour or so.
Am I the only one who got bothered defeating the same villans over and over and over?! I mean, okay, they are the "batvillains" from the "batcomic" in the "batcity" and bat*&{}@ but I locked Scarcrow into a god damn prison for 2 times and that little freakin' Penguin for 3 times... I hope they lock up that GCPD building under the city cause my bata$$ wont save any more lives 'cause you guys are so unaware and forget to lock the doors for a night once in 2 years (even if its Christmas or Halloween and they wanna go home to their families).

Anyway, I give this game a 7, maybe a 7,2 because it was fun and reminded me of the previous games. If you havent played the prvious games or are looking for a game that give you some hours of pounching, driving, playing like a detective and sometimes you feel that you want to solve a riddle, buy it, play it out, its an avarage game, not less, not more :)-

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman: Arkham Knight is easily one of the best (if not "the best") game of 2015. Everything that was great in Batman: Arkham City, is back, but enough new, to make this game be little better.

It actually feels like you are Batman, when you fight thugs in amazing combat system, free roam Gotham city high in air and meet several well made villains from Batman universe.

Voice acting is great and every character is well made, missions contain very emotional, shocking, surprising and strong moments.

Main villain is best so far in Arkham series. Scarecrow is everything that is needed. He is different, threatening and every way well made character. Then there is Joker, that has brought back with extra edge.

Pretty much only really negative thing the game is that Batman mobiletank is overused. You should not fight martial artist like Deathstroke, in tank battle and Riddler's challenges use car too much also. Other thing with Riddler is that I hate to wait before I can do things. Before you progress to certain point in the game, I can't do certain things.

Ending is one thing that is fairly ok, but could have used little more thinking and work. It is ok, but it lacks that something, that would really conclude the series. With this current one, things are not finished, something is missing.

Arkham series has been wonderful and Rocksteady has given games that have become better and better. Many things are not so different from City, but Knight gives very much for the fans. I admit that Arkham Knight is not perfect game and it is not that much better than Arkham City, but it gives a little more than its predecessor.

But after all good and bad parts in the game, good ones win with overwhelming majority.
Batman: Arkham Knight is masterpiece even with it's flaws. No game is perfect. Story has some downsides and riddle's have some, but there is so much good in this game, that it deserves it place as on the best PS4 games.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is really great, but there's a few things that keep if from living up to the previous installment, Arkham City. Much of the gameplay is similar to the other game in the series, the gliding, combat, puzzle solving, etc, but the new mechanic in this game is the batmobile, which is very well designed, which is greeat for travelling across the city or engaging in combat. however this is used WAY WAY to much. You hardly spent any time outside the batmobile before you need to use it to progress. Although the combat against unmanned drones is well designed, it feels lifeless and overused. Most of the bossbattles are recycled batmobile fights, as opposed to unique bossfights seen in the other games. The story focuses on the villains scarecrow and the arkham knight, as well as (SPOILERS!) an imaginary of the Joker inplanted in batmans head by scarecrows gas and his own damaged mind. This story is fairly good, although many of the other main villains such as penguin and twoface are pushed into sidequests, leaving little room for new villains to be introduced. The reveal of the Arkham Knight's identity is well done as an adaption of a classic batman story, but is nothing new to the series as they promoted him to be. There is a glaring lack of challenge maps that were found in the previous games, there only being 3 predator and 4 combat, and far too many batmobile maps in place. Even though there are 5 playable characters, (Batman, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing and Azreal), the challenge maps have set characters for each, limiting their replayabilit. Overall, the game has great gameplay and graphics, but has some major design flaws that keep it from being great. Expand

Works flawlessly. It's something i've always wanted to see since after watching 'The Matrix' for first time. Batmobile worked alright, sometimes downright badass'd, other times the most frustrating part of the game. Blah blah you've heard about it hundreds of times. My main complaint is there's a lil' too much content fluff added, the most mundane of this showing when your'e revisiting old locations solving fairly easy 'riddles' the challenge being in finding where they are and in maintaining the will to finish. Since this is all optional, i won't deduct my score. Expand

The Game itself is not bad, if not for it's awful release state. Warner brothers really dropped a ball with it, and it is such a shame. But there is already enough talk about that out there.

The plotline is a little bit predictable, albeit still very enjoyable. Sometimes quests break though, if you complete something you shouldn't have right now, you will watch batman have extensive knowledge in some cases, while in related quests he will act completely oblivious to events and facts you found out. But if you accept that, it will be a nice ride. Well, batmobile action is boring. It mostly includes eradicating waves upon waves of same enemies, sometimes new types join in and it gets harder, but it is still repetitive.

One thing for 100% completionists - riddler quests and collectibles are death. Annoying, annoying, repetitive, annoying.

As far as combat goes - it's the batman combat. I'd say the standard batman combat.

Played on PS4 with 1080p. I think is one of the best games I've ever had.
    Awesome game at all.
Batman and batmobile has a impressive synergy and both give to player the opportunity to plunge into the plot. In the end graphic is awesome but plot could be better.

The only thing that was annoying with the batmobile was when you had to drive through some of "the riddlers" tracks, that was when the driving and my patience really was put to a test, and I was going to throw the controller many times at these parts, but I managed to go through them after many attempts.
But apart from that I enjoyed this game, its beautifull and fun, but some parts in this game can be really frustrating, when you try your best but fail many times.

It was a good game and I will play it many times more, but just after a long break, its not really a game that I want to play again shortly after I have completed it. It's good, but not perfect.

A great game and a very satisfying finish to the Batman Arkham series. The game works almost flawlessly on the consoles. Shame it didn't perform that well on PC.

2.Decent story. It might not be the best in the series but I still enjoyed it despite it's predictability.
3.Great voice acting and sound effects.
4.Pursuit Mode of the batmobile. It's slippery but once you get used to it, it feels menacing.
5.Dual Play. Best part of the game. Wish there was more of it in the game.
6.The portrayal of a certain returning character ;)
7.Amazing open world with lots of things to do like playing around with Photo Mode, collecting riddler trophies is actually fun this time, riddles to solve, stunts to perform, easter eggs to find, taking down vehicles and riddler informants etc.

    Cons:
1.Bad bossfights. There are some decent ones like Pyg's, Riddler's bossfight and maybe the stealth battle with Arkham knight, but the rest are just batmobile oriented and are kind of frustrating. But I got to say the excavator mission was intense. Also wish there were more one on one boss fights especially deathstrokes.Hopefully Season of Infamy will rectify that.

2.Overuse of the Batmobile and tank fights: While the tank fights are fun, as you progress through the game it feels more and more like a chore. Also the batmobile takes almost 50% of the game overall.

With all that being said, I had a great time with the game and it's easily one of the best games of 2015.

I won't talk about the story because i don't want to spoil anything, so let's go to presentation.

PRESENTATION: the game graphicly is very gorgeous, there's not a single thing i consider doll, bad constructed or animated, the voice acting is phenomenal and the weather effects look very nice. I can't say the same for the music tho, because it's more atmospheric than anything and that makes it very forgettable i my opinion and i also encountered a number of glitches and pop-in every one in a while, so the presentation is good, but not perfect.

GAMEPLAY: Batman arkham knight has 2 different gameplay styles, the one where you control batman on earth and the other is the most controversial thing in this game...the batmobile. Let's with the "on-foot gameplay": Ok first of all the combat in this game is brilliant, for the most part yo just hammer the attack button to take out enemies, however to the game's credit, it feels awesome when you punch the ever loving **** out of enemies and the combat feels fluid without ever slowing down. To avoid the repetitiveness, arkham knight also has some different enemies that will require different strategies to defeat, you have gigant thugs that you need to stun them before attacking, thugs with shield that require different inputs to defeat, electric thugs that you can't touch until you shoot them with a the gun of electricity or even a combination of all of those enemies.

Batman can also use a number of items to progress through the adventure and they are all pretty unique and useful, there's batarangs, ice bombs, hacking device, batclaw, grapple-hook, the list goes on and all of these items are useful for many different things like puzzles, combat, travelling, etc.

Batman can also take down enemies from behind with the stealth mechanic and that is very satisfying to do, however if you do this a number of times a fear meter will fill up and when it's full you can do fear takedowns to eliminate 3-5 thugs and it is very important to use it if you want to complete the game.

Side-quest are plentiful in this game and they all require a different thing to do like rescue firefighters, stop bank robbers or...uhg...the riddler challenges...ok you know what? **** the riddler, this side-quest is so long, tedious, annoying and boring, that can make any player rage-quit.

Now let's go to the most divisive part of arkham knight, the batmobile. Ok this thing is used to do 3 things

    1. Travelling through the enormous city.

    2. Solve puzzles.

    3.Tank battles

The latter being the one i'm going to focus on, because the others are pretty self explanatory. The tank battles basically are the other 50-60% of the game and at least for me it never got repetitive, i love shooting the other tanks and i never got bored with it, there's special weapons that you can use to speed things up and it requires quite a bit of skill to execute well and i always enjoy the time with the batmobile.

But just like with the side-quests there's one BIG, exception to my enjoiment with the batmobile...the cobra hunting segments, this type of tank battles only happens like 5-6 times in the entire game, but believe me...they are HORRIBLE!!, this sections are one big **** up and easily the worst part about the game for me. Now, why they are so bad?, well, the only way to destroy this thing is from behind, now this in of itself is not bad, however, because the cobra tanks love to be so close to each other, it's nearly impossible to get a clear opportunity to destroy this ******* things, so don't be surprised if many times you were so damn close to destroying one of this tanks, only to be spotted by another one and ruin your whole opportunity and it doesn't help the fact that they can kill you in 2 hits!!, this part of the game are so frustrating, so annoying and soooo BORING, that it brings the pace of the game to a big slugg. Easily the worst thing in this entire experience and something i never want to experience again.

In conclusion batman arkham knight for the most part is a pretty solid and fun game, and while the music is forgettable, there's a few glitches and pop-up, the riddler can be extremely annoying and the cobra hunting segments can just go **** themselves. The rest of the game is very entreteining, solid and well done. The combat and items are great, the graphics and aesthetics are great, most of the side-quests are pretty fun and the batmobile is a welcome addition (except for the cobra hunting). With that said i'll give the game an 8/10, if any of the other arkham games are just as good or even better than this one, then i'm in for a treat.

The combat is refined and just as satisfying as prior titles. The puzzles are still in play along with a variety of gadgets. A number of side quests sporting the various villains is a welcome diversion from the main story adding a multiple hours to the story.

My biggest vice is actually the inclusion of the newest item in the series the batmobile. It's fun, responsive and a welcome change in the game. But Rocksteady went nuts with it, you're forced to use it excessively in puzzles and the story line. Toward the end you just want it to explode, or be stolen, or have an engine malfunction... Anything to stop you from having to use it.

Other than that minor gripe, the game is very good providing hours of entertainment.

First off, you PC gamers are complaining about the PC version under the PS4 version. Maybe play it on PS4 and see how that turns out. Because one your problems are fixed, you're gonna love it, I bet you.

Second, you guys who are saying this game sucks for nonchalant reasons: have you actually played the game? Play through it before writing a review, please. And I mean all the way through the campaign.

Third and final, a lot of people are complaining and whining about the Batmobile and the fact that this game out too early. I find this funny because these are the same people who whined and complained about the Batmobile not being in the other games and the fact that Arkham Knight was pushed back not once, not twice, but FOUR times. Rocksteady read has done everything they can to make this work and you guys just come here and complain about it? If I was Rocksteady, I would honestly just stop making games all together for you people.

Now, this is a message to everyone. If you're thinking about not buying the game because of some lousy reviews, please get the game. Seriously, don't let someone else's opinion decide whether you are going to buy a game or not. If you WANT to play it, then get it! It doesn't matter what others are saying, because who cares! When it comes to gaming, the only thing that matters is YOUR opinion!

Anywho, sorry for all the ranting, but people just need to be told. This game is great, it is everything I was hoping for in the Batman finale, and it has blown me away on every scale. I am terrible sorry for those who did not enjoy it, but maybe those are the same people who enjoy CoD. Who knows? But wow, Arkham Knight took my breath away. It is predictable, yes, but does that ruin the game!? Heck no! It actually helps if you try not to think about it. Just play the game and enjoy it! But yes, the gameplay is flawless, graphics are stunning, story is on point, and the sound is great. Even the characters are wonderful. Come on: it's the same batman game we've been with since Arkham Asylum. Only this time, it's a lot bigger than Asylum and a lot more addicting then City. This game is beyond amazing. It never disappoints me tbh. And to all the Batmobile haters: I love driving it around. I don't care if it's forced on me, I'm going to drive it for fun because it's just THAT cool. I love it. Maybe add the Batwing next? Overall, amazing game and I recommend this title to everyone.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman. But at the same time it’s starting to feel like Rocksteady is almost too comfortable. It lacks new content, except the pretty bad designed Batmobile parts. If you haven’t played the previous games that much you will probably think that this is one of the best games this year.
