It's sad when graphics make up somebody's entire opinion about a game. Being a console gamer, I play for the game itself, seeing good visuals as a bonus. This game was excellent overall, and these minor flaws do not merit the game a zero, despite all of negative reviews. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The epic finale of the Arkham trilogy takes place several months later after the events of Arkham City where Scarecrow comes back for revenge by threatening Gotham by using his brand new fear toxin to destroy the city with the help of a brand new character called the Arkham Knight. This is another great game that we are all excited for with amazing gameplay of using your batmobile for the first time in the series. There are only two very minor problems i had with the game, sometimes there will be points where the game will make you use your batmobile a lot but that doesn't mean that the batmobile suck though. Another one contains spoiler about the Arkham Knight, he is a brand new character created for this specific game. So its a really big mystery about who is the Arkham Knight and why he also wants revenge from Batman. Unfortunately Jason Todd is the Arkham Knight, so he is basically the Red Hood in the Arkham series. He was never mentioned in this series until Batman starts having flashback of him for no reason really. They just probably added that for the people who have absolutely no idea who Jason Todd is. I wish it could have been someone else that we know in the Arkham series or make Jason Todd more involved in the series(probably during Arkham Asylum?). I love the Arkham Knight though, but not Jason Todd playing as him. Overall beside those two problems (which isn't really a big deal), gameplay is awesome and this is a fantastic finale in the series

I gave this a lower rating after the first hour of play, I felt the beginning was weak, and didn't like the Batmobile very much. I'm now nearly done with the game and I felt compelled to alter my review. The story and acting while imperfect has some very well done pieces, and the game really picks up,especially once you get used to driving that damn Batmobile. You will see a lot of reviews saying that the batmobile is overused and unnecessarily forced upon you, but honestly, if you don;t want to use the batmobile so much, then don't?! Go and do some side missions (which are fantastic in themselves) or solve riddler trophies. This is a game packed full of content and you can take the game at your own pace! I have had it since the midnight launch and I am generally just enjoying gliding round Gotham beating up rapscallions who tip over cars.

A word to sum up this game? - Masterpiece.

Arkham Knight is a really good game, though the batmobile is used a lot, it's still a great thing to drive around the world. I don't get the hate for this game, it's still a great game like Arkham City, it's storyline is good, the characters are good.

The Arkham Knight was a predictable character half way through though.

It's still a great game, despite the reviews.

Graphics and gameplay are solid. An immersive experience that justifies the tagline, "Be the Batman" and all $60. Time will tell on the season pass., though.

This game just does everything right! Combat is still same, with some new moves and enemy types. Stealth is awesome because of the new gadgets, Story is awesome and Driving batmobile is so much fun. Only thing that i didn´t like so much is that there is too much tank combat but it´s still fun.

People pls if u want to cry about that pc version sucks go rate pc version not ps4.

I'll keep it simple to help sway the negative reviews that this game has been getting upon releasing. The game is good. Very good, in my opinion. I won't list all the things this game does right, but I can tell you that almost all of the negative reviews have been focused on the early PC port having a low frame rate at first or the graphical options available.

So when I went to pick it up yesterday it was like god was postponing my chance to play it. HOWEVER I was amazingly pleased with what I got. I admit that the batmobile was hard to use at first but as time progresses I mastered it. I wont say this persons (and refer to him as "this person") name but it was amazing to see this person, that whenever I saw this person, I would stop what I was doing just to here the words this person had to say. Enjoying every bit of it. I no longer thought possible for a upgrade in any aspect of fighting. But, as Sefton Hill himself said, there was still so much they could still do. And they did. the fighting was awesome and flashy, kind of felt like I was playing some sort of Japanese fighting game with the flashy booms and colorful streaks you left behind with a punch, and the combat is as smooth as ever if not more so then ever before especially with the new edition of dual play. I also believe the predatory was amazing, considering that with gameplay they showed so far, they still made it hard as hell. There would even be times that up to 15+ men would be n one room. And there is enough things in there that can aid you in taking on those 15 dudes. The plot is something I wont spoil but will say it is more interesting then recent DC comic titles and I NEVER felt like the batmobile out did the Bat himself. Of course I prefer flying (yeah when you upgrade him far enough you can un officially flying around Gotham to the point I should be wearing a red cape......which you can as a bonus skin), but when duty calls I love taking the Batmobile for a spin(still trying to learn how to do a donut). Another thing is, is that I was scared of the possibility of a empty Gotham. LOL NOPE, it is littered and riddled with side quests and riddles. and there are some very cool ones, like the mysterious identity snatcher(yeah were have I heard that one before) and creature that flies around causing a mistaken of identity with the thugs around the city( who also provide a ton of easter eggs to characters we all love and know) . Honestly I aint a professional reviewer and I probably said some things no one gives a flying rats ass about, and was probably as informative as a hyped up friend who know less then you do. But if you where ever like me, scared , nervous, and very curious but had to retreat from the internet for 5 day so you would not be spoiled. Then I beg you to get the epic conclusion to a game we waited for 4 years Expand

I have maybe 10 to 12 hours in the game at this point. The time put into building Gotham by the Rocksteady team must have been staggering. I am a fan of the entire series and am simply amazed at the detail found in this rendition of Gotham. The lighting and shading is nothing short of quality art, once again thanks to the team responsible. The combat is as usual fluid and better than previous titles. If you felt Batman was a bada55 before this title, you will think he is a pi55ed off bada55 in this addition to the series. The story is just fine, all the trolls who call it predictable should be laughed at. It has a lot of predictability about it, but really most games do, move on with your negativity. The presentation of the story is where it counts. If you are a fan of this genre and Batman, you will be pleased. The game is deep in storyline and I probably have not scratched the surface. Like previous titles there is a plethora of choices of what to do, where to go, who to inflict Batmans will upon. The addition of the batmobile is no deterrent to the greatness of this game. Remember this is not Gran Turismo or Forza, it is an open world action game. Anyone who tells you the driving in any comparable games is great is lying. No GTA, or Saints Row, Godfather, Watch Dogs, etc, has perfect driving and maneuverability. Arkham Knight is no different, and the inclusion of the batmobile is welcome. Realistically Rocksteady didn't need to and the game would have sold the same number of copies. That said it is a bonus and provides a nice touch. This game has the graphics, the gameplay, the story and adds up to a compelling and very fun title. Idiots will be idiots, in 2015 we are surrounded by them. We all know them, always negative, always tearing others down to attempt to justify their ignorance. Join me and laugh at them, my life is good and I look to enjoy finishing this great game. Sorry to the children who have nothing better to do and are angry at mom and dad, your reviews are laughable. Thanks again Rocksteady for putting forth great effort to give us a very capable game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After reading all of the negative reviews, I can sum all of them up with one simple word, WHINERS. Everything they're complaining about makes no sense and leads me to wonder how much the game they actually played thus far. Nearly all of the rants are about the smallest insignificant details or they're simply asking for too much. They're like Yelp reviews who give restaurants 1 star for not giving them water within 2 minutes of sitting down.

Now, for a more honest review...

    The good:
-Improved graphics: Graphics are definitely next generation quality with improved textures and backgrounds. Watching the waves in the water was mesmerizing in itself. The new Batsuit was one of the best additions and it also got rid of the underwear on the outside look too and seems so much more tactical.
-Expanded cityscape: Gotham just got more interesting now that it's an actual city. You got the financial district that is Founder's Island, it's own Chinatown and other little tidbits like a downtown reminiscent of Times Square.
-Batmobile action: It's basically a tank which makes sense. Batman needs fire power and driving this thing around is awesome. The funniest thing is that if you're ever cornered on the street or just come across people you don't want to fight, call the batmobile and you can just incapacitate them.
-Side missions: So much more to do than just Riddle missions. Stopping TwoFace and Penguin along with other villains like Firefly and Deathstroke
-Overall storyline: Good story with Scarecrow unleashing a massive attack on Gotham. It's suspenseful and chaotic as Batman traverses the city to stop him. Some of it is pretty predictable but this isn't a Dan Brown novel. It's a Batman video game.

    The bad:
-Identity of Arkham Knight: SPOILER ALERT!!!!! This was arguably the biggest disappointment in the game. When they first announced this character, everyone speculated it being Jason Todd but since Rocksteady stressed 'original' character we figured it wouldn't be. That was until you fight him a low and behold, it is essentially the Under the Red Hood Storyline. Just slightly altered where Todd is manipulated to hate Batman instead.
-Platform issues: PC got the short-end on this whole ordeal.
-Saving: I wasn't a fan of the saving process in this game. The only time the game would save was if there was progress being made in the game which makes sense but sometimes, after finishing a mission I'd just explore a bit and not complete anything and when I go to quit the game will warn me about when I last save but won't give me an option to save before quitting. Basically, saving is relied on completing a mission/objective which i found to be quite annoying.
-Playable characters: Even though Nightwing and Robin are in this game, we can't play with these characters for extended period of time. If Batman happens to team up with his partner, then we can switch to them during fights but that's it. They also work it into the story where Batman constantly refuses help from his counterparts as well which is even more annoying. Why there weren't more 'team' missions when you have these characters doesn't make sense. It's like a tease.
-Batsuits: One thing the last Arkham game got right was being able to explore the batcave and all that came with it. While Batman doesn't has a few more remote bases like the clocktower and the Wayne Tower, you can't really change suits or anything like that within the game and you have to exit the game in order to do so. Not cool.

Overall, with the amount of content it has, it's worth the full price.

Since the launch of the surprisingly excellent Arkham Asylum, there's been Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Alien: Isolation, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and numerous other excellent licensed games- something that can be rarely said in the medium of gaming. With Arkham Knight comes the senses shattering conclusion to this brilliant franchise (or Rocksteady's involvement in it anyway) and it's just as much of a masterpiece as would be expected. And while this review may be late (even if I did receive the game on launch day), in retrospect it's just as brilliant looking back as it was playing it.

The Arkham games have always held a place of honour in the mythos of the Dark Knight. While they may be removed from standard Detective Comics continuity, they portray the same level of excellence and depth as many of the hero's finest works, such as the Killing Joke and the Dark Knight Returns. The games also pay attention to the history of the bat-loving, bad guy basher with many references to iconic moments and Batman's past mostly mirrors that of in the comics (yet what shouldn't be expected is a brighter era like the 50's or 60's). Arkham Knight is a perfect example of how to craft a mature and well written Batman story that implements both emotional elements and a plot that sees the Batman out to save his city as well. While I won't spoil anything major, the basic plot overview is that Scarcrow is back from his brief journey onto Croc's dinner menu near the end of Asylum and he wants revenge for the injuries he sustained and the embarrassment he experienced- not at the hands of Croc but at those of the Dark Knight himself. Partnering with a mysterious armoured figure known as the Arkham Knight, who has his own private army and a seemingly limitless amount of money to spend, he sets out to not just kill the Batman, but to completely break him mentally and physically as he tears down his city and everyone he loves. As such, his terrorist threats against the people of Gotham see them evacuated from the city and into the outer reaches, which while being a very good set up to ensure Batman can tear around the streets in his new set of wheels, is also an effective way to get the ball rolling. It's a fast paced and incredibly interesting narrative, though you should also be aware for some slower paced and character building scenarios. And of course there are plot twists- many in abundance and some that completely change the way the game plays out. Last but not least, the identity of the Arkham Knight. It's been controversial to say the least, as many are disappointed by the obvious allusions towards the face behind the mask. In my opinion it was an effective retelling of a famous Batman story arc and so found it to make the story even better.

Moving onto the gameplay and while no major additions have been implemented into the combat and air traversal components, these mechanics are at their greatest height and seeing them perfected is a sign of how far the series has come. The Freeflow system is faster and features better animations, as well as the ability to pick up weapons and use environmental takedowns among other things. Grappling is faster and I even noticed Batman has better agility with some animations seeing him bouncing off walls. Stealth has also been mixed up with new Fear Takedowns and a greater range of options open in Detective mode. Being the ultimate Predator has never been so much fun!

Of course it's the Batmobile that makes this entry stand out the most though and for good reason. Despite everyone's claims of it being overused and the combat being repetitive, I believe that the car is bloody awesome! It handles well and can deftly drift around corners, while also having a boost system and suspension that is unbelievable. Switching into Battle Mode is simple with the tap of a button (on a different control scheme that is) and the amount of weapons and enemy types available is great. It's challenging yet enjoyable and mixes it up from standard fights.

Arkham Knight is jam packed with content, including tonnes of varied side missions, a fair amount of new AR challenges and a New Game Plus option that will definitely encourage you to replay it. To see the game's true ending though, you also need to complete most of the side missions. Complete them all and you can see the TRUE, true ending. This may annoy some as it requires you to get every single Riddler trophy and all of the villain's puzzles as well, but I found these more varied and easier to get than before and they are also in shorter supply so it's not a massive task.

It's too early to call Arkham Knight game of the generation (though the graphics are the best I've seen yet) and it has some strong competition this year with Witcher 3 and MGSV. But after 61 hours with the game and seeing everything, it's the best I've played.

The Arkham Knight is the some what focus of this game (Hints the name) and he is a unknown villain hell bent on bringing Batman to his kneels and getting his revenge. Him and his Men are the most prepared and well armed when it comes to fighting the Batman. The combat to the game is very fluid and smooth with only a few times where you get mad at Batman for not doing even remotely close to what you wanted him to, other then those odd points the combat is very enjoyable. The environments mostly give you multiple ways to handle a situation rather it be stealth from below/above or a all out brawl or something in-between. The addition of the Batmobile adds a whole new level of combat to the game with the ability to call in the Tank/Super Car with a press of a button you are able to use it to take out enemy checkpoints, Tanks or whatever you need. The Batmobile is extremely fun to drive with it smashing through parts of builds and pushing cars, Also drifting corners and hitting jumps is fun. There are a few Riddler challenges and story missions that build some puzzles around the Batmobile witch can get boring and repetitive but still nice to see them work the vehicle into some puzzles. The game is also full of things to do with tons of side missions to track down and finish, from Hostage's to save,Murders to Solve or other villains to hunt down and lock up. The story to me was a amazing story exploring points of the Batman universe that are extremely well known and close to the fans of the series, anyone who is a slight fan of the Batman universe will instantly love the story of Arkham Knight. The game looks beautiful, Environments are extremely detailed and it gives the feeling of immersion and really pulls you into the story.Arkham Knight Isn't a perfect game but it's really close, if you a fan of past Batman games or a Batman Nerd like myself you will love this game but if your not invested in the world of Batman you may not have the same experience but I'm sure it'll still be enjoyable. The good news is that this is a return to the Arkham universe and gameplay. This game series is one of my favorite series of all time with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City being my favorite games of the last console generation. And if you haven't played those two games, then definitely try and play themThe good news is that this is a return to the Arkham universe and gameplay. This game series is one of my favorite series of all time with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City being my favorite games of the last console generation. If you've played those and enjoyed those you'll have a lot of fun with this game. And if you haven't played those two games, then definitely try and play them before you play Arkham Knight or you will have trouble following the story. (Arkham Origins is worth playing as well, but not really necessary for story purposes).

The gameplay can be divided into three different aspects: combat, predator mode, and Batmobile. Combat and predator mode are what have made this series shine for me and neither of those have changed too much. The big change to combat is the addition of team battles where you are fighting with one either Catwoman, Robin, or Nightwing and can switch back and forth freely between the two. This is a great addition that works especially well with Catwoman since in her battles each character can only affect certain enemies and you need to constantly switch back and forth to be effective. The main problem with the team combat is that it's just not used much and you'll spend most of your time alone with Batman. Hopefully in the future some DLC is released where this is used more.

Predator mode has remained largely unchanged. You're hiding in the shadows and taking people out one by one while trying to remain undetected. The big change is the Fear multi-takedown ability which allows you to sneak up behind a group of enemies and take out up to three of them at a time. (This can be upgraded to a maximum of five). This may sound like it'd make predator mode too easy, but the predator maps tend to have more people in this series and the ability has to be recharged by performing silent takedowns, so there's still a good bit of challenge to be had.

The Batmobile is the biggest (and most controversial) addition to this game and this is the main reason I felt like the game doesn't deserve a perfect score. The Batmobile is used for three purposes, races or pursuing villains, head on battles with drones, and stealth battles with Cobra drones. Battling drones is the main thing you'll do in the Batmobile and while it is very fun in short bursts, it's not quite as fun as hand to hand combat and there's not really a whole lot of variety to the fights. The main problem with the Batmobile is there are a lot of these fights, especially if you do the side missions, and they can get tedious. By the end of the game I was glad I didn't have to do any more. Racing and chasing people was fun as well and there was a good amount of these missions so that I didn't find myself getting tired. The biggest problem with that is the controls are set up differently from most racing games and the Batmobile sometimes handles like you're driving on ice, but I got used to both of those fairly quickly. The stealth battles with the Cobra tanks were by far the worst part of using the Batmobile. Cobra tanks are too powerful to take on head on, so you have to try and get behind them and take them out from behind. It's kind of like a predator mode for the Batmobile except there's only one way to take down enemies. It starts off boring and doesn't change much from there. Luckily there's only a handful of these missions throughout the game, even including the side content.

Two other minor problems I had were the bosses and the challenge maps. Bosses have never been a particularly strong point of this series, but there's always been a couple of boss fights in each game I really enjoyed. I can't quite say the same for this one. None of the boss fights were really that fun or unique and a couple of major bosses were done as stealth tank battles when really the characters in question should have been able to face off with Batman hand to hand and been a threat. The challenge maps were somewhat lacking in this game compared to other entries in the series and there's too much focus on vehicular challenges with well over 50% of them using the Batmobile. And I was also disappointed by the lack of ability to tackle the challenges with other characters. Hopefully more combat and predator maps get added in future DLC and hopefully they allow you to use other characters.

Overall, this is a fine addition to the Arkham franchise and a nice end to the series. It's not quite as good as Arkham Asylum or Arkham City, but it still kept me glued to the console until I finished.

Considering i didnt play the first two so i could be set up for this plot, it really didnt matter to me, this game is just to enthralling not to read in to every single detail of the settings, characters and hidden eggs you see along the way defeating each villain. I simply could not get enough, i loved how they used Christopher Nolans batman series as reference. The toxin threat from "batman begins" , the use of the joker (even though it was over played) from " the dark knight" and the mass amount of armies and thug take overs just like Banes plan in Rises. I am so sad that this is only a triology, i ended up completing the story and buying elder scrolls and the witcher 3 only to go back so i can 100% the game. I know fan boys who are upset about the batmobile and using joker way to much but get over it. Just think of the man hours put in to this enthralling game, Shame on you for voting it anything less then a 7. Rocksteady out did themselves on this one, another problem i only have with this game is that i wish there were way more villains rather then 240 riddler trophies they could have implemented them way more. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, first I will start out saying this is easily my favorite Arkham game, and is actually tied with Zelda Twilight Princess for my favorite game of all time. Don’t listen to the hate this game is extremely well made-it’s basically a Batman simulator. You can fly/drive around a huge Gotham City playground and pretty much do whatever you want. Let me start with the reason most people hate this game - overuse of the Batmobile and the tank battles. Yes there are a lot of them, but they are still pretty fun and engaging and require a lot of skill-I actually enjoyed them. Let me say that people who just like to play the required main story line and that’s it, yes they prob won’t like this game that much. However, Arkham Knight has TONS of awesome side missions that are incorporated well into the main storyline of stopping Scarecrow. It’s almost impossible to play through this game and NOT play the side missions, as they are blended in well with the main storyline. These side missions are not just repetitive fillers to make the game seem longer - they are very fun, challenging, and engaging, and actually have very minimal tank battles, and more on-foot combat.. Some of the great side missions involve stopping Two-Face from robbing banks, destroying Penguins weapons caches, taking down Killer Croc in a downed prison airship (DLC mission), ending Professor Pyg’s reign of serial killings, rescuing a crew of captured firefighters, and teaming up with Catwoman to actually engage in a Sweet boss battle with the Riddler. I like how each side mission focuses on taking down several of the series’ main super villians then hauling them off to GCPD. If you are a completionist type gamer, you will LOVE this gem of a game - the game actually rewards you for 100 percent completion by giving you the actual “good” real ending to the game. You WANT to do all the side missions to make sure Gotham is finally safe. Everything about this game is an improvement from the previous titles - combat, stealth takedowns, weapon upgrades, etc. Also, if you play this game the proper way with all the side missions and such, you will spend about 30 hours playing this game - that’s a lot of content for your buck. There is only one thing I wish they would have done differently, and that is having more on-foot boss battles and less tank boss battles. Also, they really should have had an actual end game boss fight, which they didn’t unfortunately. I have replayed this game many times and I enjoy it just as much the last time as I did the first. I might add that the Arkham episodes that are DLCs are worth getting - you get to play as Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, Red Hood, and even Harley in these short, but very cool episodes that take place before and after the events of the main game. One last thing - the plot of this game is the best yet in the Arkham franchise, as you not only save the city, but prevent Scarecrow’s fear toxin from hitting the entire eastern seaboard. I personally thought the plots of the previous 3 titles were nowhere near as good a plot as Knight. Don’t listen to the hate, this is a great game, very well-made and should be owned by any hardcore Batman fan like myself! Expand

The world is beautiful and detailed, and as a comic lover i enjoy the vast story tied together in one hellish night for Batman. But Arkham Asylum was tighter, the story was just as good with the amount of villians you didn't see, catching glimpses of their lives in the Asylum before the breakout seemed to give them more mythos than the clumsy way some are simply ham fisted into Arkham Knight.

The Batmobile is hit and miss, using it more sparingly may have been better. After the first few battles i was thinking "great, another tank battle". I do enjoy swinging round the city in the Bmobile and some of the chase parts are fun; but, overall too much was given to the tank battles.

I still think the game is excellent, but it's a little bloated and the world doesn't feel as alive and engrossing as Asylum. I've enjoyed the story so far, it feels like a graphic novel akin to the long halloween but less like the collection of comics that Asylum felt like.

Batman Arkham Knight was a game I desperately wanted to play when it first released but unfortunately I never got around to it. Mostly due to the story being spoiled for me a few months after release. Anyway, enough of that. Batman Arkham Knight is a whole lot like Arkham City. Like Arkham City, Batman Arkham Knight is an open world but this time you are actually defending Gotham City from Scarecrow and his sidekick The Arham Knight. Long story short Batman AK is a fantastic game that strives really hard to be as good, if not better than Arkham City. Though a fantastic game, in my opinion it doesn't quite reach Arkham City. I think my main problem is the batmobile. The batmobile is now apart of your Batman as much as his cape. It's being used almost constantly and though I understand that Rocksteady needed a solution to having a huge open world game and no fast travel. That is where the Batmobile comes in, and unfortunately over stays it's welcome. Don't get me wrong. The Batmobile is a necessity when you are fighting a huge private army, who happen to own thousands of tank drones. The problem is that the momentum of the game comes to a screeching halt when you get somewhere infested with these tank drones. It then just turns into a continuous bore of strafe, fire, strafe, fire, strafe, fire, strafe, fire. It just isn't fun. Fortunately though, the rest of the game is so good it completely over shadows these issues. The story is great, and I REALLY love what they do with the Joker now that he is dead. You will see what I mean if you play it. Batman Arkham Knight is a very good ending to this great series, and I can't wait to see what Rocksteady does next. Expand

Lets start off by saying the combat is phenomenal Its incredibly improved from the previous title and just kills button mashing. The gliding is a bit repetitive in my opinion. In the beginning I enjoyed gliding through out the city, but as a progressed I found it more of a chore and actually enjoyed walking from rooftop to rooftop later on. the parkour is fairly basic, and isn't much. But I suppose thats not a key part of the game. The batmobile isn't as bad as everyone says infact I think it adds variety towards the formula of Batman Arkham Knight. A key exponent towards the success of Batman Arkham Knight. The graphics are some of the best graphics I have seen even now in 2017 I still debate whether or not any game has been able to exceed Batman Arkham Knight in such detail and design. The game also features additional story and additional free content. Now lets talk about the story.

Batman Arkham Knight's shines in its plot. Scarecrow creates a plan alongside of the Arkham Knight. A unknown vigilante who seems to know every single detail of Batman. As the story progresses Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight put more and more pressure on Batman. The story is totally a campaign you should check out. Its well thought out and has one large surprise towards the beginning for new and returning Arkham players :))

Overall I give Batman Arkham Knight a 9/10. The game is just like the previous titles but with a few minor improvements.

    Pros:
    Fun Combat
    In depth Story
Bat mobile gives Batman much more *Badassy*
    Beautiful and Detailed Visuals.
Realistic Physics and easy to use controls.
Additional Free Content and cheap Season Pass.

    Cons:
    Gliding gets repetitive.
Nothing much to do after completion.

Not as good as the other three games if you ask me but it is still an excellent game with the best combat in the series and best hand to hand combat game of all time. Only if the story was better and they didn't over do the batmobile sections this game would be the best in the series.

The trailers and gameplay footage shown off at preview events was nothing short of incredible. The visuals, scale and narrative all suggested a game that would easily be a game of the year contender. Not to mention, the pedigree this series has. The Arkham series was a game changer in the industry, in that licensed super hero games could actually stand up to the very best games of that year. Make no mistake Arkham knight is a great game but unfortunately, that is all it merely is. Arkham knight delivers on a lot of its promises, the visuals are absolutely stunning; some of the best this generation in fact. The scale of the game, too, is also impressive. Gotham is certainly larger than Arkham city, in terms of landscape and things to do. However maybe its too much, too many side missions and things to do. Arkham knight seems to lack focus and it overall takes away from the experience. After completing the main story, the player is forced to complete all SIDE objectives to obtain the final ending. Meaning the side content, ironically, is part of the main content in the game. And while the side content is enjoyable, it exists to simply lengthen the game. Same can be said for some of the tank missions, for which there are too many and take away from the experience. The game becomes less immersive and instead becomes a series of boxes to tick. Arkham knight unfortunately doesn't feel like the epic batman experience many were hoping for, but merely a very good batman game. Arkham city felt like, however, an experience and more than just a game. The player was fully immersed in its open world and its narrative to become a batman experience. I spent far less time playing Arkham city than knight, however I treasure it more. It's such a shame, because the narrative of Arkham Knight is compelling with unexpected twists and turns. However this is overshadowed by the needless number of tank missions and side missions in the game. Arkham knight starts off strong and feels like the epic batman experience players waited patiently for. But eventually it becomes a Ubisoft-like open world game where the player does 8 of the same thing. Meaning it's a lot of fun, but feels somewhat formulaic and repetitive. Hence when the credits roll, the player is relieved that it is FINALLY OVER. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphically astounding, technically brilliant and compelling in both terms of gameplay and story - this is by far the best game of the Arkham series.

Gotham looks wonderful. If you go somewhere like Grand Avenue with all the brightly coloured signs, it really shows how good they designed the world - they have the balance right between bright colours and darkness. In comparison with Arkham City, which was - comparatively - quite dull, Arkham Knight's Gotham looks incredible. Not only that, but it's easy to transverse. The new grapple boost allows for higher and faster gliding, so you can always get to your objective quickly. You can also have the Batmobile launch you into the air - again, making travelling across the map a lot easier. With the way that gliding and diving appears visually, it is also a pleasure to transverse.

The gameplay still follows the same pattern as Arkham Asylum and City, but it has been improved. It feels a lot smoother, for one. It also feels a lot more precise than the other games in the series. There has also been the inclusion of Fear Takedowns, which allow up to five enemies to be taken out in a matter of seconds - as long as you get close enough without them seeing you.
Some people would say that the Batmobile is "forced" on the player, but I disagree. It has brought something new in terms of gameplay to the series, and that is all. Of course Rocksteady would like to put an emphasis on it - but in all fairness, Batman is facing an army of unmanned tanks. What else do you expect him to do, apart from getting a tank of his own?
The Batmobile handles well, and driving it is a lot of fun. I have no idea why people complain about it.
Rocksteady have also incorporated an aspect of Arkham Origins - the crime scene reconstruction - which makes a welcome return. I enjoyed doing that in Origins, and was glad to see that you use it more frequently - and it has been improved, so it is more of a puzzle and less of a "scan the dots".

Now about the story. One aspect of the series, which was present in Arkham Asylum - but not in City or Origins - was the horror factor. I was glad to see that it was back in Arkham Knight. The game has a good atmosphere, which gets pretty creepy at times. There are also several jump scares in the game, as well as a little comedy in there too. Joker's blood which was injected into Batman in Arkham City causes him to hallucinate the Joker occasionally - and he always has something amusing to say.
Which brings me on to the next aspect of the story - the psychological factor. Arkham Knight seems to get into the head of Batman more so than the other games, or any of the films - and that's not just because there is part of the story set inside Batman's mind. It deals with the psychology of the Dark Knight which few mediums manage to do well. It also allows you to get to know the Joker's mind a lot better. Arkham Origins did this in a sense, when Joker was talking to Harleen Quinzel - but I have to say, one of my favourite parts of this game was when you get to play as the Joker (in a sense).
In terms of the main story - after getting mauled by Killer Croc in Arkham Asylum, the Scarecrow has returned to seek revenge on Batman and to transform Gotham into a "city of fear" - with the aid of a masked man who calls himself the Arkham Knight. Although the game itself is as subtle as a tonne of bricks with who the Arkham Knight actually is - it was hardly a surprise, regardless. Only those who have no previous knowledge of the DC Universe would need the assistance of the cutscenes/hallucinations to figure it out. Still, finding out how the Arkham Knight was 'born' was quite enjoyable.
Even though the main story should be about the Scarecrow and Arkham Knight - you get the sense that the Joker steals the show, and there are no complaints from me about that. Mark Hamill's performance as the legendary villain is, once again, absolutely superb. The best portrayal of the character ever made, in my opinion.

There is only one last thing to cover. The DLCs. I have and have played all of the DLCs so far, and I have enjoyed all of them. Yes, they may be short - but they only cost a few pounds, so what do you expect? That does not stop them from being enjoyable. Some, including the Harley Quinn story pack, the Red Hood story pack and the Matter of Family DLC add characters that you can use during AR Challenges, which are a lot of fun.
I have to say, my two favourites are the Harley Quinn story pack and the Matter of Family DLC. The Harley Quinn story pack (for those who don't know) features the poor, lonely, extremely psychotic sidekick trying to free Poison Ivy from prison. Beating the **** out of Nightwing was the highlight.
Meanwhile, the Matter of Family DLC is about Batgirl and Robin attempting to free Jim Gordon from the clutches of the Joker and Harley Quinn, in an abandoned amusement park.

This game is worth playing. One of the best games I have played for a while. Very fun

All the Supervillians of Batman of the so called 'rogues gallery' are included. Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, Scarecrow, Ivy etc etc. Even the very much dead Joker!

The Batmobile on the whole is a cool addition, but can get a little annoying at times when you have no option but to use it. Schooling the Militia tanks with the missile barrage however is pretty sick!

Overall Arkham Knight is another solid addition to the never disappointing series. Just a shame Rocksteady has decided to bring it to an end. Such fun games to play!

Not too sure what some peoples problem is giving it a zero? If you liked AA, AC or AO there is absolutely no reason why you wouldn't like this. Its more of the same! Stop hunting for perfection, you aint gona get it!

2.Too much of a tank fight. While I enjoy using batmoblie around the city, I don't think using it as a tank is a good way to do in Batman game. Sometimes it feels good but sometimes it does not, and if you rethink for a second, we buy this game because we want to play as batman, not a tank destroyer. Therefore, even the tank-fight mechanic is good (it is really good), it is not batman game. They should make a separate game for this.

An excellent game, but with one very divisive flaw: The Batmobile.
Combat: The combat is the main reason the Arkham series' fame. And the combat is the best in any of the Arkham games. With LOADS of moves to unlock, and even more powerful and newer enemy types (Example: The medic can revive downed opponents and electrically charge them for more damage). The combat never gets stale.

Batmobile: Now this may be divisive. There is a lot of driving and tank combat in the game, especially in the main story. The batmobile is fun to drive, looks beautiful, and controls like a car in a good racing game. The tank combat is fun, but it gets stale after a while, and it lacks the depth or fluidity of on-foot combat. So, I recommend doing some side quests (which usually involve on-foot combat) in between bouts of Tank combat.
The City: Gotham is dark, violent, and incredibly gorgeous. The game from a technical standpoint runs like a dream on the PS4, though only 30 fps, its very stable. The graphics are beautiful, especially the textures and water. Exploring the city while gliding feels amazing, and my favourite thing to do in the game.
Story: Not gonna spoil anything. The story isnt as good as Asylum. We can see Batman get pushed to his moral and Psychological limit. While the main plot itself isn't too complex, the characters, dialogues and screenplay are movie-level. The game is very cinematic.
There are sidequests involving recurring villains like Penguin, Harvey Dent and Riddler, and also FireFly, which are all a blast to play through.
The game will last you 15 hours on main story, about 30-35 if you wanna do side quests.
Ultimately, it dependa on the batmobile tank combat. Check some gameplay footage to see what you feel about it.

My one complaint of the setting, is that the whole "noir" feel of the previous games felt down, which was a little of a disappointment, but not the big of a gripe. The combat is refined, smoothing out the remaining wrinkles in the streamlined combat the Arkham games are known for. Game play and mission types are diversified from previous entries in the franchise, adding more to the "beat thugs->interrogate-> track boss" equation of the series. However, the removal of the epic boss battles from the previous games left me gravely disappointed, and is one of the main reasons of this not getting 10. The boss battles were always looked forward to by me, they always left me thinking "holy sh*the that was awesome! I wonder how he's going to take down the next big Boss!" but alas, they were removed from the game, making the interactions with the villains more brief. The wide array of side missions merely beefed up an amazing game, adding even more amazing to an amazing package of amazingness. Alas, such a marvelous game is not without its downfalls, with Arkham Knights being the infamous Batmobile. The forced tank missions and grotesque Batmobile platforming sections made me sigh and groan into my dualshock, however i managed to power through it by keeping in mind that once i complete this, i can go back to a truly fantastic game. Now that's not to say i bemoan the addition of the Batmobile, i thoroughly enjoyed hauling and burning rubber along the streets of Gotham in a bad*ss tank of pure awesomeness. However, if Rocksteady had not made it required for such dreadful missions and merely let you use it for driving around, i whole heartedly believe the Batmobile would have been better received. Batman: Arkham Knight is a must for any fan of comics and or video games. It'll scratch the itch that was left to be desired after Arkham Origins, and does the franchise justice in ending it. Truly a must have on any gamers shelf. Expand

This review contains spoilers for the main story and some of the side quests.

Batman: Arkham Knight is a fitting send off for Rocksteady's trilogy that packs a lot of punch, but overuse of the Batmobile can make some parts of the game feel monotonous and repetitive.

    Presentation:

This is definitely the best looking game in the series, and one of the best looking games on the Playstation 4. The neon lights of the city and thebeautiful rain give the game a very dark, bittersweet feel. The detail on the characters, vehicles and locations is amazing. Watching the rain bounce off of Batman's costume and soak his cape never gets old, and the addition of a Photo Mode in an update lets players create some phenomonal in-game pictures. The sound design is also brilliant. The Batmobile sounds loud and ferocious, the combat is made more meaty and realistic as through the sound of hits connecting, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the game.

    Gameplay:

In terms of combat, Arkham Knight is as good as it was in Arkham City, with some new additions such as environmental takedowns that add even more flavour. You feel powerful but never so powerful that winning fights is a breeze, and there are endless opportunities to add variety with your moves. Stealth also feels just as great, and with the enemies now adapting to how you play, you must vary your moves to make sure they don't counter you and make you vulnerable. Enemy numbers in both Combat and Stealth are a lot higher this time, especially in Stealth, but the new Fear Takedown that lets you take out up to three enemies at once (five with upgrades) makes sure you never feel overwhelmed. However, it only requires one Silent Takedown to recharge your ability to perform a Fear Takedown, and so in some of the last few fights it seems a bit too powerful, especially if you have it upgraded.

The roster of gadgets feels better than ever, especially in Stealth, where the introduction of new enemy typse and Drones means you have to utilize your arsenal more than you did in the previous games. There are a few puzzles scattered throughout the story that require the use of gadgets, but they are so signposted that they require no more than 10 seconds to figure out, which is a bit of a letdown.

Now we come on to the Batmobile, one of the main features advertised for the game. At first it feels great, a powerful, hunking beast featured in battles against drones that feel desperate as you are vastly outnumbered. As you progress through the story though, the Batmobile seems to be forced in wherever possible, with endless tank battles in the final few hours and platforming puzzles utilizing the car that feel awkward and clumsy. It is also used in a side mission in which you defuse mines across the city, where the tank battles will really start feeling repetitive, and it is highly featured in the Riddler side quest, although the creative races here are a lot more fun than the platforming puzzles that are part of the quest. Also, there are a couple of sidequests (the roadblocks and the watchtowers)which involve hunting down locations and performing Combat/Stealth sections again, and again, and again, and for a completionist, these can feel very repetitive and boring, especially if you attempt the majority of them after completing the main story.

A major problem I have with the game is that by just playing through the story you do not earn enough xp to level up enough to make a difference quickly. Most powerful upgrades require at least 3 upgrade tokens, and most of the tokens are recieved from completing objectives in side quests. Overall, I levelled up and recoeved a token about 15-20 times in the main quest, which only let me focus on 8 or so upgrades. If you just want to play through the story at first, you won't feel much more powerful at the end than you did at the start. I highly reccomend you keep a good balance between the story and the side quests if you want to level up your character properly.

    Story:

The story is very similar to a lot of Batman stories, especially those in the Arkham series. The inclusion of the Joker in hallucination form is a welcome addition, and the writing is really good, but everything feels a little same old same old. As for the Arkham Knight, the titular character, his identity seemed pretty obvious after a series of flashbacks that seemed to scream "THIS CHARACTER IS THE ARKHAM KNIGHT", and so the reveal wasn't that surprising and didn't really affect me much. Overall it just feels too much like the past games, and can feel a little repetitive with the endless tank battles.

    + Great combat and stealth
    + Joker provides excelllent humour
    + Brilliant writing
+ Batmobile is powerful and fun...at first
+ Great variety in gadgets and moves
    - Batmobile combat is repetitive
    - Awkward Batmobile platforming
    - Repetitive side quests
    - Lacklustre reveals

This is the best video game of all time. The last chapter of the best Video Games Series ever. With heroes like Batman, Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman and villains like Scarecrow, Deathstroke, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy this video game is epic!

Batman: Arkham City is in my top 10 games ever made. Batman: Arkham Knight comes within an inch of its predecessor's greatness and stands out as not only one of the best Batman games ever created, but one of the best superhero games ever created.

Best arkham game yet. Rocksteady is pure talented studio. Fanstastic atmosphere graphics and gameplay. Dont miss it. A must buy for all true gamers. And also a story driven game with characters and without online or multiplayer crap which most of modern garbage games is full...

    It's all personal. Very personal.

I originally played this game on PC and recently revisited it on PS4. On PC, I gave it a 10 but I am sorry to say the game is not as tremendous as I remembered. The game has a very good open world and interesting, if sometimes disappointing, side missions. With the exception of the Riddler's stupid trophies, I would say all of the side missions are absolutely worth completing.

The story, while not up to par with Origins or City, is still a joy to play through. It's always fun to go through another chapter of Batman's history. Unfortunately, the thing that really drags this game down is both its horrendous pacing (some sections in the story can be quite boring) and the Batmobile. I actually do not have that much of a problem with the Batmobile's combat. It is the puzzle-solving with the Batmobile that really takes it too far in my opinion.

Arkham Knight is not the most satisfying conclusion that Rocksteady could've developed for their saga, but it's not that bad. There is definitely some room for improvement. The only reason I'm giving this game a 8 instead of an 7 is because the excellent combat and stealth gameplay that has been built upon over the course of the series is still here and it's still great.

This game is good and a lot of fun. Everyone seems to complain about the vehicle combat but I like it. It is something different and the controls are solid.

This game is amazing. It has great graphics, great combat, and badass batmobile. The stroy is just pure amazing. I wont spoil anything but this game in the perfect way to end the series. The downside to the game is the lack of bosses. THe Arkham series always had awsome boss fights, but this game only had 2-3(cant remeber) But overall, this game is amzing!!

Batman: Arkham Knight presents a technically proficient and overall satisfying ending to the Arkham series, but suffers from overuse of the novelty item Batmobile and extremely repetitive tank battles. [Aug 2015]

Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman. But at the same time it’s starting to feel like Rocksteady is almost too comfortable. It lacks new content, except the pretty bad designed Batmobile parts. If you haven’t played the previous games that much you will probably think that this is one of the best games this year.
