The gameplay doesn't do stealth well for going back to it's Assassin's Creed Routes with hidden blades and hoods, feels tacked on and honestly feels like the wrong way to play. The parkour and traversal also doesn't feel fluid, or real, which is a real step-back for the series. Expand

The only good thing another this game is the that the combat is marginally better than odyssey. Apart from that the world is empty and bland. The main story quests are repetitive and boring. The hidden ones/Assassins are hardly in the story. Also the fantasy elements have no place in a series based on some level of believability.

Assassins creed is no longer assassins creed the brand name

Assassins creed is no longer assassins creed the brand name has become a cash cow for Ubisoft and they are moving to a terrible cut and paste RPG system that promotes micro transactions. Ubisoft if your reading this go back and remake the original trilogy or make some decent story driven games.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I really felt the story and side-characters were fun and well-developed, and there were so many different things to do an explore on the map.

My only complaints are that A) the graphics got a bit janky at times, and B) they somehow managed to come up with a side activity MORE annoying than paper-chasing, in the form of the Cairn Stacking Challenges.

Excelente para ser mi primer assassins creed, tiene mucho que explorar y sobre todo accion por doquier, lo unico que no me gusto es que el personaje tiene una barra de resistencia como si fuese un dark souls, lo que aveces frustra un poco

The game itself is not bad. I actually enjoyed playing it. This game seems to have lost all the things that made Odyssey great but doubled down on the chore-like aspects. Ubisoft made a big deal about there being no "side quests". Ubisoft made a big deal about there being no "side quests". Instead there are "events"; blue dots on the map that are functionally identical to sidequests but don't appear in a menu (very useful). The maps have also lost the colour and variety that made Greece feel so exciting. The biggest step back for me is the combat. In an attempt to emulate Fromsoftware, there is an emphasis on parrying and stamina management. Unfortunately, parrying feels very inconsistent and the combat does not suit the frequent scenarios when you're facing a Swarm of saxons in a raid. It only works in 1-on-1 boss fights that are few and far between. I do like the more focused selection of weapons but the upgrade and levelling system is atrocious. Upgrades are made in minuscule increments and abilities are not unlocked, instead you must find them on a map that doesn't tell you where they are unless you are already standing near them; eww. Odyssey may have gone a bit too far turning you into an unstoppable demigod but in Valhalla I can barely tell the difference between combat at the end of the game from at the start.
The narrative is also very sloppy. There are good parts, I admit such as the Sciropescire arc, but the game really whimpers out in the second half. The finale feels so insignificant that it took me another hour before I even realised I had finished the story. I only noticed because there were no significant quests left to do.
As a Welsh man I also find the map disappointing. There's no Cornwall, no Wales, no Scotland, and a slab of Ireland is saved for the DLC. Considering how massive the scope of Odyssey was it feels weird that we don't get to visit Scotland or Anglessey, yet we do get a piece of America as a reference to Assassins Creed 3? Overall, Valhalla just feels so meh and such a missed opportunity. This is a game where you can literally wield mjolnir, yet it entirely fails to feel satisfying in any manner.

Not only was it installed for the first time in such a way that it gave an error at startup, nevertheless, after a complete reinstallation, it started up, so much so that it would be better not to start. The dullness in front of the scripts is very large, sometimes you wait 2 seconds, sometimes the download icon drops, which can hang for 5 seconds or freeze forever. So, actually, my second attempt to play this game ended, having approached the first synchronization point, I got a pause for the game with a loading icon, while it was possible to enter the menu, see the map, but it was impossible to move further. It was decided to restart the game after 10 minutes of waiting, after which it stopped starting, giving an endless load at startup. Expand

Two big open worlds full of secrets and treasures, amazing. Nice graphics. Game story solid with interesting plot. Performance could be better, needs patching. Definitely an upgrade from Odyssey, they did a lot of job in characters. Skill tree is a knock out, although bit chaotic. Love getting lost in there.

Ubisoft haters are most unlikable people on this planet. Reading these "so called" user reviews makes me sick. I have never seen so much pathetic bitterness, anger and whining towards video game. Specially, because none of this negativity is justified. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a good game and Far Cry 6 will be good game and This is just fact that these haters need to accept and move on!

Bloated beyond belief and full of the same annoying, nonsense issues that have been plaguing this series since the original game. How fast is your walking speed? Here's literally 4 minutes and 47 seconds of loading screen to totally kill the vibe. Did you like the climbing sequences in any game ever? Neither did ubisoft but here's more climbing than necessary with mountains that look only slightly better than Skyrim. The only positives about this game are the occasionally vibrant scenery and the potentially intriguing story that you don't get to play because you need to level up to level 400 first. Absolutely disrespectful to the players to release this game after giving the players two broken messes of AC games back to back right before this. I've pumped about 75 hours in and have noticed my enjoyment decrease significantly as my play time increased. While I would rather have that time back, at least I can say I gave it a chance instead of leaving a 10/10 48 hours after release. Also the cats look more like Shrek than they look like cats Expand

And no true motivation to explore these soulless and lifeless spaces. Ffs... For example, your reward for going through the TEDIUM of collecting The Ymir tears and equivalent is.. Drum roll... 5 Skill Points! This should have been made obvious as I would never have wasted so much time had I known that Ubisoft probably ommitted that knowing some idiots like me would think there's a grand reward for all that boring, boring environment scanning. Ubisoft is becoming the Atari of this generation... That is to say, single-handedly ruining the gaming industry with UNINSPIRED generic copy/paste BS. But to be fair you can't just blame Ubisoft. Gaming has become big business and with big business came big corporations. Corporations are created to focus pretty much solely on profits. It's the nature of the Beast. so ultimately you know game companies come out with people with great ideas inspired you know behind the engines and just needing the company to feel their inspiration and then they become corporations and they just start churning lifeless plastic out to the masses so as to make a buck. Sadness. I fully believe we may very welll find Ubisoft dumping thousands of copies of Assassin's Creed 15 into a landfill in the Nevada Desert one day soon. This is the last time I will even consider purchasing anything from Ubisoft. Rather wait for the real artists like Rock Star & Bethesda's lot to do the industry justice again... Expand

I don't expect I will return to the game, as I have better games to play and I play AC when the games are good, not because AC always=good. Also, having a Danish friend, the acting and accents are typical Hollywood appalling. There is a big splash screen trumpeting the diversity of the development staff, well maybe they need to go out and meet the world instead of circle jerking about how authentic and inclusive they are, because they are NOT. There are far fewer cookie-cutter outposts than in previous AC’s, and most sidequests now offer an interesting story, sometimes even with a less-than-obvious solution. While some anti-grind measures have backfired, Ubisoft is on the right track. [Issue#250, page 56]

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a wonderful addition to the AC franchise. It manages to avoid the tropes that became overplayed and focuses on a small well structured story. The fighting mechanics are enjoyable and offer many choices to fit different playing styles. There are a significant amount of bugs and the AI is underwhelming at times. But it's still another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.
