Assassin's Creed Unity is set in one of the best scenarios for an Assassin's Creed game, the French Revolution. A time full of plots, intrigues, treason and social unrest. That being said, let's cut to the chase.

    - In terms of graphics and visuals the game is beautiful. However, even after more than a year from its release, the game suffers from stupid glitches and FPS drops each time you enter a crowded area.

    - Online Features: there are no PvP modes, only PvE. Online missions are, for the most part, like any other mission. Heists require the players to be as stealthy as possible, since being spotted reduces the reward.

    - Main Campaign: the compelling main story provides around 30 missions split in 12 sequences. As usual, each missions will also have multiple optional challenges.

    - Side Quests/Activities: there's just too much to do in ACU. You have Paris Stories (additional quests), Nostradamus Enigmas (riddles), Murder Mysteries (investigations), Helix Rifts (race through an area to collect as many points as possible before the time is off), Social Club Renovations/Missions (additional side quests). On top of all these, you have almost 300 chests, over 100 cockades to collect and a fair share of artifacts to find.

    - Gameplay: compared to Black Flag, I feel the gameplay has suffered a downgrade. You can't whistle, nor move bodies. The stealth component has been reduced to a minimum - blending is never required and avoiding detection is required only once (if you're going for the 100% sync, that is). Furthermore, the "Disguise" skill allows you to instantly camouflage yourself as any character at sight, which makes infiltration a piece of cake (as long as you keep a few feet away from near enemies). Also, it's worth pointing out that Arno's parkour mechanics are oftentimes plainly stupid. He'll hang from the back of a chair, he'll refuse to make simple jumps, he'll ignore your command to throw a smoke bomb while in combat, etc.

    - Weapon variety: you have a fairly decent number of weapons and weapon types (swords, long weapons, heavy weapons, pistols, rifles and guillotine guns).

All in all, ACU is a great game that offers tons of content. It was a great Platinum for my collection, despite some glitches here and there.

·Èlise feels forced a lot of times and what happens to her could be seen from miles away.
    ·Villains are dull.
·Story is just... lame. "Oh noes, bad things happened to me. Now I gotta kill every bad guy for my personal revenge".
·I have no idea what they are trying to make out of the Assassins in this game but they look like **** Just as much as Templars.
    ·Modern day story is nonexistant.
·The sounds you hear on the streets are repeated over and over again. Just walking through Paris you might hear the same lady screaming 5 times in less than 3 minutes.
    ·Ending is pure garbage

    Pros:
·They made the game feel alive and the Revolution like something real.
    ·Climbing feels smooth.

Can't really find anything else that's good. It was pretty boring for me.

I didn't have much fun with it. It definitely brings some good stuff to the table, but it's stuff that Syndicate not only brought to the table, but actually made fun to play in a good game. I guarantee, if you're thinking about buying this because some people say it's got good features, I guarantee that Syndicate has those and more. This is not a good use of money, honestly. I got it for free with a bundle, and I still somewhat regret it.

Assassins Creed: Unity is another game in the AC series and when I say 'another' game that's exactly what it is: Another game in the AC game. Not memorable, not fun, not interesting. Not memorable, not fun, not interesting. A line of dialog from the final boss sums it up: "The order has become so corrupt that we've forgotten our purpose". Ubisoft has become so obsessed with getting every last penny from the AC series that it has thrown storytelling aside which was something that hooked me into the AC series.

    Positives:
+ A huge city of Paris to explore
+ The game looks great in cutscenes and in terms of textures and lighting
+ New weapons in the Phantom blade and Berserk blade
+ AI is tougher making the game more challenging
+ More areas to climb and hide(e.g inside buildings)
+ Coop is ok but not fantastic. Doesn't seem right in a stealth game.

    Negatives:
    - Combat is slow and sometimes unresponsive. Its a 50-50 chance whether your character will parry of not.

    - Gameplay graphics are awful. Draw distance is not that far, characters and objects pop in within viewing distance, Characters get stuck in walls and jump about the place due to colliders.

    - Climbing has become so complicated that Arno gets stuck to EVERYTHING. Trying to navigate into a window can be frustrating especially when chasing someone or trying to get away.

-Story and characters are bland and boring. We have another revenge main story plot which takes place in the French Revolution when it should be a French Revolution main plot with a revenge side-story. The story is also pointless as it tells us nothing about the Templars, The Brotherhood nor does it move the Modern day story along an inch. Players can skip this game and miss nothing from the AC storyline.

    - Paris map is so full of side-quests to do it becomes overwhelming. Honestly you cant even see the Paris map because its overrun with **** to do. Doesn't include a filter so you can see where the next story mission is. They overdid it on the side-quests big time.

    - Microtransactions. The game is set up to get people to buy in game money through micortransactions. It may not be obvious as other games but its there. Cafe renovating doesn't give you as much money as you'd expect and the best weapons and equipment are ridiculously expensive which would make affording them a very long grind. As always anyone defending microtransactions in a AAA release worth €60 is an idiot

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I´m making one thing clear from the start. Assassins Creed Unity is the worst Assassins Creed so far.
Even if you don´t look at the bugs, which are plenty, the story is not good at all. The game only focuses on Multiplayer. Which is a huge improvement since its predecessors. But it has no story about the old civilization what so ever.
    !!! Spoiler!!!
So your father is an assassin and dies. You becoming an assassin. hmm. kinda like Assassins Creed 2. Your mentor kinda betrays you and you kill him. You get thrown out of the brotherhood, keep on fighting, kill a view templars and at the end you fight the big boss of the templars in paris. Which suddenly has a artifact weapon.
Your "love" dies and you kill him. You get the artifact weapon. The end.
    !!! Spoiler!!!

So this is the story in a nut shell. Climbing is very anoying in unity. You are much faster, if you stick to the streets and just simply run. The side missions may contain a little bit of story, but basically its the same as in all the other assassins creed before. Which is not bad. Its the imense volume of these side missions which make it hard to even use you map. All you see are icons of some side mission. The rewarding of those side missions is questionable. Defend a guy against 3 enemys you get 1500 Livres. Kill an oponent which is guarded by 1000000 soldier and you get 700 Livres?! I´m mostly disapointed by the story, i know from the start, that the game has a lot of bugs, but bugs plus "already-seen-heard-played" story?! well eventhough i only paid 30 € for the game, it was wasted. I don´t know more about the story of assassins creed itself. I just played as some random assassin which is in my perpective not very charismatic.

So if you never played assassins creed, its a funny game. But if you played it from the start, you simply be disappointed. Because it doesn´t matter from which point of view you look at it, the game is simply not in the league as its predecessors. I know that this is mainly caused by the marketing of the game. Because there policy is: Every year 1 assassins creed game has to be released. But with the new posibillities of the next gen consoles and the growing marked and a relatively high standard of a game. This is just not bareable.
If this is the course assassins creed is taking, i´m not really up for it to buy the next releases.

I know this review is kind of emotional, but to get to the point:
    pro:
    the grafic is good.
    the multiplayer has improved drastically
    movements look nice
playing the game is fun to some extend
roleplaying feeling because of the equipment you can get and combine
    contra:
    the story is not good
there are a lot of bugs
climbing in paris is a pain in the ass
getting fast from point A to point B is only possibly threw running on the ground
    not really charismatic characters

So all in all, its not a bad game like E.T. But it is the worst assassins creed which has been made thus far.

Paris was gorgeous and it is obvious Ubisoft spent a lot of time researching the city and history. My gripes are more so with the inclusion of the necessary AC companion app to unlock suits and chests, microtransactions (although not needed they are still annoying), and the seemingly non existent modern day storyline. What they weren't able to fix was the game itself, aside that it comes from a great saga that I loved, the story is awfull, characters won't enthrall you at all. The gameplay is more or less the same as they've been using for most Assassin Creed games, with fewer differences.

The coop was one of the most desired adds but, for me at least, it was nonsense and lacking in content.

I don't know why Ubisoft did this game, but it has ruined Assassins Creed for me at least.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't buy this game at launch, so many of the glitches had been patched by the time I got to play the game. I guess the glitches are the main reason, why this game's ratings are terrible.

There were still couple of bugs when I played this, but nothing game breaking. The gameplay is a hit and miss. Climbing mechanics are one of the worst of the series. The "controlled descending" was nice, but rest of it was bad. The combat system is pretty average. It is more unforgiving than in the previous games and for the first time in AC series I actually had to avoid combat, since the opponents were too tough. Good for you Ubisoft!

The "memories" or missions were also different from the previous games and to be honest, the freedom of how to kill your targets was a fresh way to change the gameplay. Main missions were good, but I couldn't bother with the side quests. They were too repetitive.

The story was pretty good up until the ending. Arno's and Elise's relationship was great and it really kept me playing through the story quickly. But then the ending was completely predictable and lame. Dark and gritty endings can be good, but not when they are done like this. Around halfway point of the game I already knew that Elise was going to die. If Elise would have lived, then that would have been a surprise ending and a very pleasant one! But now the ending just left a bitter taste in my mouth.

With slightly better mechanics, fewer glitches and with a different ending, this game really would have been a masterpiece...

Sadly, the potential get's squandered away completely, because for the first time in Assassin's Creed, the protagonist never get's to be a part of history himself, it merely serves as a background setting for the largely uninteresting “conflict” between “Ezio" and the templar's. It's not like it was in AC and AC3, where Altaïr was with King Richard on or when Connor was directly involved in the Boston Tea Party and when they signed the Decloration of Independence, he was there himself. They helped shape history, unlike Arno who doesn't have the slightest interest in the revolution. We never really get to interact with some of the most famous historical figures either, like Napoleon Bonaparte, Theroígne Mericourt and Marie Antoniette. Napoleon only makes a brief cameo in the story line and a Paris story, Theroígne only appears during a few Paris stories and some co-op misions and Marie Antoniette ONLY appears in a cutscene for one of those co-ops. We NEVER get to interact directly with her at all.

Every single character is very forgettable and very one dimensional. It is painfully obvious that they tried to cater to Ezio fans, by creating his french clone. Everything from his pony-tail, his clothes (at first and in the prison) to his behaviour, where he tries to be charismatic and witty in every situation, but instead of being those things, he becomes the exact opposite. Like a true try-hard. While I won’t exactly say I hate him, I very much dislike him, especially as a protagonist. He’s the least skilled and least likable Assassin ever. Even Elise who is otherwise somewhat of a hot chick, only cares about revenge for her father and uses Arno as her lapdog (man that guy is whipped). All of the villain’s and ESPECIALLY - what is supposed to be - the main baddie, completely fail to make us - the gamers - root against them. They simply do not receive enough screen time to make us know who they are, what they stand for, their motivations/goals and simply care for them at all.

The main story is perhaps my biggest gripe with this entry. It takes heavy inspiration from AC2’s revenge theme, which is already a pretty standard plot in almost every action movie ever. It fails to keep me engaged in it like in previous entries. Even though Black Flag is my least favorite (besides this one), mainly because of it’s uninteresting story - both past and modern day - at least it wasn’t short. If I hadn’t done multiple side quests and co-op missions between the sequences I could’ve been done in less than 10 hours. All the missions get incredibly repetitive after just the 3rd sequence, You KNOW that every sequence will culminate in a pointless assassination of a random templar. All the “twists” like Arno’s dad(s) getting killed and Elise dying was really predictable. The modern day part isn’t even there. Again, you’re a random guy in 1st person, that’s supposed to be “you”, instead this time you never even get to walk around. You briefly interact with a chick assassin named Bishop in some sequences but that’s about it. The MD part is arguably the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of the franchise. Many fans such as myself, keep coming back for more, solely because of the MD conflict between the Assassin’s and Templar’s, yet they’ve removed it completely this time, making this a history sim when it shouldn’t be at all. Ubi’s biggest mistake was killing off Desmond, who I loved immensely. IMO they should just bring him back because this whole 1st person, silent and RANDOM protagonist BS is not working out AT ALL! It seems to me that Ubi is afraid to move forward with the core plot, because then they would likely have to end it in a few years and that’s probably why they started with this pointless “you’re the protagonist” $hit, meaning a huge source of their revenue is removed. So sadly, they milk the hell out of this and completely screw up the lore of this once beloved franchise.

The few positive things: I actually kinda liked the murder mysteries. I thought they were fun for a little diversity and I like using my brain when it’s something that doesn’t completely fall out of perspective (like the Enigma mysteries where you have to KNOW the entire map like the back of your hand). And the world is beautifully realized, no doubt about that. The huge crowds, the graphics are very good and the architecture is magnificent. Truly makes it feel like a next-gen game. Sadly, that’s all the positive there is to say about this. I simply can’t believe that they used 3 years to develop this and yet it is so unpolished. So much so that it should just have been cancelled completely instead. I should also warn that the controls are very bad, there are still numerous game breaking bugs and the frame-rate issue which causes your PS4 to overheat during menu sequences still exist. Overall, just don't buy this game unless you're a hardcore AC fan like myself.

A lot of improvements have been made starting by the first obvious one the graphics, they are gorgeous with a city of Paris that look very alive, with a huge amount of details, lot of interiors, lot of characters on the screen you can easily understand why there was so many issues on the technical side, compared to Unity, Black Flag several years old, and even now after all the patches some minor bugs remain.

There's also some improvement on the gameplay, climbing is more comfortable with the ability of "free running down" like they call it, the sword fights are more difficult (at least an Assassin's Creed game where you stand very small chance when outnumbered 10 to 1 !) and there is some character customization (unlock the skills you desire most, choose your style of weapon, and then improve your gear all over the game), and of course some co-op missions that are very well done and truly enjoyable when playing with friends, nothing new on the infiltration but this is already quite a big deal and I personally liked those changes.

On the content side once again the game is very generous with a quite interesting story and characters, tons of collectibles and at least side activities really interesting with their own stories to tell, that's a huge plus for me and it really makes you want to play them all. In total to reach 100% you can expect 50 hours in the game with more than 30 dedicated to the story and side stories, very good value for money.

Once again my review is based on the game as it is today and its goal is to help those that hesitates to buy it today (or in the future), and in this optic I really advised Unity for all those qualities. Yes the game is pretty mainstream (and already the ninth of the franchise) and still got some bugs but a very effective gameplay, gorgeous visuals, tons of hours of entertainment, isn't that a good video game ?

However, in its current state, aside from a few sticky control issues, it is perfectly playable and also sufficiently enjoyable. Graphically its impressive, and the hundreds of on screen NPC's at a single time is particularly splendid. The combat can at times be weak, yet I've never enjoyed combat in previous iterations, however in this particular game it can be slightly more punishing, and the preferable method is to assassinate and run, arguable what the franchise is about. The side missions can be entertaining, although a tendency to mindlessly complete them without really considering their story is commonplace and perhaps due to the irrelevance of many of them. The murder mysteries can be quite entertaining also, yet often they drag on with investigation zones miles apart. Similarly, the main assassination missions have been revamped, with numerous entries and side missions that can affect the nature of the assassination, interesting but not revolutionary. Overall, a year on this is a fairly standard AC game, with clunkier controls, yet certainly a more interesting and detailed setting and environment that other iterations. Probably worth a rental if you're particularly interesting in the series. Expand

I remember when I first played AC1 and saying to a friend that it was the best game I'd ever played (and I've been playing computer and videogames for 35 years now!). AC Unity continues the trend by being possibly the most beautiful game (and man, it's smooth, no fps problems or glitches at all!) I've ever played!
I don't understand how people can complain that there is an AC game released every year and that they're repetitive when you have such new and amazingly detailed architecture and full cities being rendered and populated, along with great acting and backstories... The more I play this game, the more it pulls me in.
I have to admit that initially it took me a while to get into the game, as it nearly always does with AC games, but once you get the hang of it and start improving your character and weapons, it just becomes a blast, the city of Paris is truly your playground! Along with the fast travel ability and new mission types such as murder mysteries and riddles, the game never really feels old nor boring and give you a great variety of tasks to break up the monotony that has plagued other slightly similar games.
Keep those AC games coming Ubisoft (even though I did wait and buy the game with a great discount!) and we'll keep buying them. I really want the next AC game to be set in WW2 Europe, it would be amazing to have to find and assassinate Hitler in his bunker at the end of the game and lends itself quite well to the templars and assassins and the (crazy) ideas and ideals of the Nazis!

but the bugs are very noticeable. Im streaming it off an SSD which really helps cut down the long load times, but the NPCs uniforms changing as you get closer is very noticeable, and once you've seen it, you cant not see it. Ive had a few NPCs hovering in mid-air, and a weird spinning sword bug when looting bodies (happened every time for about 20min), but other than that, its been a good fun game with plenty of interest.

I still feel the control system needs some refinement though. Every now and then while running through streets or on rooftops Arno insists on jumping onto a table or chimney stack and just crouching there for too long. More than once have I exclaimed in frustration "GET MOVING!!!".

Look past the bugs and its a great game. Especially as I got it for £7. Will fill the time before Syndicate comes out, which I really hope will have some serious improvements.

ACIV was excellent and I had high hopes for Unity, I was severely disappointed. There are a lot of positive and awesome things this game does, yet a lot of faults exist too.

    Pros:
    1. So much to do (quests, murder mysteries, collect gear, etc)
    2. Good quality texture and lightning
    3. Decent companion throughout the game (Elise) and main character isn't heritable
    4. Character customization, lot of equipment to choose from
    5. Downward movement mechanic (Overrated though)
    6. Entering buildings all over the map through windows almost seamlessly
    7. Set piece assassinations, really great having to think and plan an assassination
    8. Huge map with excellent locations perfect for set piece assassinations

    Cons
    1. So much to do that none of the side quests offer anything significant. It's overwhelming and clutters your map. They don't tie into the story, don't offer anything other than a mission to do, which is fine, but all it did was trigger OCD for me.
    2. Whatever the textures and lighting were doing, be prepared to have it destroyed by awful framerate
    3. Glitches everywhere
    4. Terrible combat (Due to terrible controls), missing a lot of combat features from previous games that would have helped. Anyone with a gun in group combat is going to raise your blood pressure due to frustration with the dodge ability. Nothing new, missing old, terrible choice.
    5. Controls are awful, it's like your covered in superglue whenever you run. Even wide spaces need careful running as you can easily climb a chair or random wall.
    6. Glitches
    7. Glitches
    8. Skills customization (Most of these aren't even skills, they're just things assassins in previous games do by default like ROLLING after a fall). You miss out on a lot of skills if you don't play coop to get skill points, and they affect your single player missions. Which really sucks because you're not given new abilities and you miss out on old useful ones too.
    9. Boring final boss mission
    10. Story sucks, revenge plot (that's essentially it), no memorable cast at all
    11. Bad controls (Needs to be said twice)
    12. Enemies can be insanely difficult at times due to awful controls, I did not enjoy the combat at all, and I usually love AC combat, in that regard, weird difficulty spikes

All in all, the people at UBI put effort, and it shows, but they aimed for the stars and failed, rather than delivering a nice cheeseburger, they overcooked a steak to the point of it being barely edible. And you can't blame them, the company demands yearly games (2 this year) with huge scope.

This series needs to go back to basics, get tighter controls, adopt a less is more approach.

Worth it for $20, especially since you get dead kings DLC for free.

No character stands out, the only thing it does right is add to the lore of the AC universe. Arno is a pretty flat character. He is charismatic in all the wrong ways. So overall the story is not why you should buy this game. Now the game play, the game-play is greatly refined with a new parkour mechanic allowing to ascend and descend. However I think the descend mechanic needs some work. The parkour is also pretty glitch. While running on rooftops Arno will get stuck jump super far randomly and is generally pretty choppy. The new fighting mechanic is pretty good. It is now more challenging.... However they still throw enemy after enemy after you like in the old games. This is so annoying since combat is harder we cant fight 20 guys at once, however the game doesn't seem to care. Next the AI is pretty, who am I kidding its god awful. In combat the walk around and when they deiced to attack you they do a extremely dumb animation. Its like they growl at you before swinging. And the most annoying thing of all is the guns. The enemies will often just spam using their guns forcing you to get them first, however the controls to doge the gun fire is broken. To dodge a gun shot you have to push the X button however, if you are not near an enemy you cant doge it unless you run behind something. The gun system is horrible they need to redo it. Next lets talk stealth. To put it simply its crap. Mainly due to the enemy placement. The enemies are placed in a way that it is almost impossible to take out anyone without being detected. Unless you use the "phantom blade" which is basically a silenced gun. However you only get like 5 at a time and it costs so much to refill them all. The stealth seems like it was made for a splinter cell game. I say this because without a gun you are screwed. Now lets end this up with the multiplayer. It is odd. It is definitely enjoyable if you get your friends, but without people you now it is not all that fun. The stealth is a lot more enjoyable when you work together but not by much.
    Alright lets end this review.
    Final verdict 5/10
    Positives
    Impressive visuals and world
    New combat
    Decent Parkour

    Bad story
    Clunky gun combat
    Glitchy

Assassin's creed unity improves upon some aspects of the series such as more in depth customization and better combat mechanics. The game also has impressive visuals, one of the best looking games made. Unfortunately not the same can be said for the story line. The characters are not made very interesting, and the mission designs are quite boring to be honest.

AC Unity should’ve been a fantastic. It was the first game to reinvent the franchise since AC3, and with so many good ideas under its belt, Unity was on the road to becoming the first truly next gen game that AC fans wanted. Instead, we get a title that falls flat on its face and easily ends up being the worst AC game in the franchise.

You play as Arno Dorian (essentially just a rehash of Ezio) who ends up joining the Assassin’s to redeem himself for the deaths of those he feels guilty for. Arno does this by using an unexplained ability to read the thoughts of his targets upon their death, revealing his other targets until he finally finds the one in charge of it all. The story has its entertaining moments and easily one of the most emotionally impactful endings in the franchise thus far, but falls short due to the lack of focus on the French Revolution itself and the lazily done present day storyline.

The story may be average, but it pales in comparison to the game’s many misfires. The parkour system was remade with good ideas and is the best system for controlling your lateral movement, but with no control over your speed, movement becomes very janky in tight environments which severely weakens the stealth gameplay. While being able to crouch is awesome, Arno’s lacks of fluid movement or responsiveness makes stealth frustrating. Worse is the poorly programmed and inconsistent enemy AI, leading to multiple instances of you getting caught unfairly. Plus, since most enemy layouts are overly packed with guards and snipers, stealth becomes nearly impossible and frustrating.

Sadly, the only real motivation to use stealth is to avoid the even worse combat. Largely similar to the Batman Arkham games, your only defense in combat is to counter or avoid enemy attacks. Plus, every enemy carries a firearm, so you’ll have to watch out for the symbol to dodge their shots, since the human shield skill from AC3 is now removed for whatever reason. However, the claustrophobic camera largely prevents you from actually being able to see enemy attacks (especially while in interiors), while the crosshair that alerts you to incoming fire fails to appear half the time. Both of these problems almost ruin combat because they make it cheap and unfair rather challenging.

The sad truth is, every new mechanic is plagued by problems. The upgrade system that allows you to unlock new skills sounds cool until you realize most of them are just standard skills you've had by default in previous games. Arno brings no new skills to the table, and the higher skills he does have take too long to unlock. It’s also frustrating that only story and co-op missions give you the points to unlock them instead of all mission types.

Character customization is also a cool new addition with a variety of outfits and weapons, but most of the higher level pieces are locked behind annoying prerequisites. These would've been great if they were alternatives to just buying them, but forcing them on you is too restrictive.

The weapons and outfits are supposed to add replay value, but that is immediately ruined when you find the game only has one save file with no in-game menu that lets you start the story over.

Another problem is the unnecessary change or removal of abilities that were moving the series forward. You can’t attract enemies to you by whistling, you won’t stay in a hide spot if an enemy sees you enter it, and the double assassination is harder to pull off.

Annoyingly, Unity retains the mindset of “quantity over quality” in terms of the side content. There’s a ton of stuff to do but it all feels the same. Murder mysteries are a step in the right direction but are only fun to play once. Plus, the checkpoints for most of these missions are awful, since they can cause you to start at the beginning or spawn you way across the map, and sometimes directly in the enemy’s line of sight.

Co-op is also a letdown because it doesn't make for stealth games to begin with, but the bad stealth mechanics just ensure you’ll get caught regardless of how coordinated your team is. Taking them on solo only makes them ridiculously hard, while the rewards tied to them require multiple playthroughs, making co-op a grind to get through.

Overall, everything in AC Unity has so many problems, that the few good things like the amazing graphics and presentation are bogged down by them. When Unity performs flawlessly, it becomes the experience I was expecting, but becomes nearly unplayable due to the unnecessary removal of useful mechanics and with every new feature having its own slew of issues. Ultimately, I love Unity for the direction it was taking the franchise, but I hate it because of how poorly executed it all was. It's easily the biggest gaming letdown I've had in a while.

Doing video games in order to make money is not a wrong attitude, release broken games in order to boost profits is.
AC Unity is a broken game end of the story, a broken game made by developers who want to exploit the franchise as much as possibile with no regards (at all) for the quality of the product.

But, in my time of multiplayer, I noticed issues of lagging, unable to connect, unable to perform basic attacks, being dropped out, or being the only player showing up for a 4 player co-op mission.

As for the game, Paris is my new favorite city! It's huge and more alive than any other AC city before it. The people in the crowds have many different personas from arguing with each other, having simple discussions, kissing, holding hands, staring off into the distance, laughing and carrying on with their own lives. Truly impressive city to interact with. Graphically, Paris seems to have a haze to it, although I'm not sure if this was done on purpose, reflecting the artwork, or else just the failure of the PS4 system to render it more crisp. The detail on the city buildings look awesome, yet the character themselves look rather bland until you bring the camera in real close to look at all the detail on the skin and clothing. Much like what I noticed in Dragon Age 3. Sound is just fine. I took advice from some people to use the French language option and use English subtitles, which feels more immersive with the history and location. So I'm not listening to these heavy Scottish and British accents in the middle of the French Revolution.

Of which I have to say that the French Revolution is one of the best time periods to have as a backdrop in a video game. You can really sense the anger and demand for change in the people of Paris as you move about. The stories play out quite dramatically in regards to the Reign of Terror, the Fall of the Republic and rise of Napoleon. And they are not done in the God-awful way they were in AC III by playing stupid mini-games to enact history's greatest events. Instead, the protagonist is much affected by events as he is trying to carry out his story. But, Arno, the hero of the game, isn't much of a protagonist. He is more of a plot device reacting to the world. This game certainly doesn't match Ezio's story archs in ACII and Brotherhood.

The gameplay itself still suffers from the wonky combat and movement that has plagued this series since ACIII. Nothing is more hilarious than watching an Assassin try to enter an open window; jumping up, down and all around until he finally goes in. Or, trying to hit the basic attack button, but being too close to a wall and its the same button to hide. Enemies have a field day wacking away at you while you try to figure out if you're going to fight or hide in front of your enemies. Arno has to be the worst fighter in Assassin history. Most times you are stuck in long animations of weapon swings and cannot break of contact to concentrate on multiple enemies. Killing Templars is easy enough with three good strikes; but, guards are much tougher as it takes five good hits to take them out. Get surrounded by three or four guards and you are in trouble while you are very busy blocking and attacking one guard, while another aims his pistol at you taking out half your health with one shot. And speaking of shooting, when a guard or Templar shoots at you, they are very accurate even before the days of rifle barreling. Running into a crowd to avoid getting shot does very little as they are able to place a bullet between your shoulder blades 90% of the time. What is a slap in the face is that Ubisoft seems to have made the combat intentionally difficult so that you can purchase short term upgrades to make you a better fighter. THESE ARE TRANSACTIONS TO PURCHASE ENTICING YOU TO USE REAL MONEY. And I deducted another point for pulling that pay to win **** But, when everything moves smooth with the right timing of your button, the combat and movement is a beautiful site. Too bad this happens less than half the time. Ubisoft should study Shadow of Mordor's combat and movements since they improved upon the AC concept. There was one horrible boss battle that involved horrendous QTE. Being a game were you develope your fighting skills, it's sad that you don't get to use it on your own terms. QTE must GO!!

That said. I loved jumping into Paris whenever I could. I generally hate multiplayer, but this multiplayer is all about co-op and its fun...when it works. With the patch work they done, this game delivers an enjoyable time

As much as people complain about the bugs and frame rate problems, ACU is still a very fun and interesting game to play. The park-our is very smooth for a "game" and the textures and the scenery, not to mention the massive buildings and structures created almost to perfection make the game one of a kind. i recommend this game to people who want to experience next gen.

Their are parts of the past games which were removed which i found really sad (for example fist fighting) To me Unity is not the WORST AC game but it isn't the BEST either. I hope that Ubisoft really take good time and dedication with their future titles and not rush just take the time don't rush a game out the door. I had one part where my character glitched into the wall and then he died but other than that nothing else happened. I feel like the Assassin's Creed franchise is supposed to be a stealth game, but I found Unity to be a less stealth-oriented game and that if you got spotted by one of the guards it didn't matter or affect the rest of the mission. There were only two boss battles, the first one was very easy, and the last one was as well. There were some times where I couldn't wait for the game to be over, but others where I was really enjoying it and having fun. Assassin's Creed Unity, boy was I excited for this game. The trailers showed many things; Stunning graphics, increase in crowds, the new Parkour Down system as well as Player Customization... There were so many things I looked forward to that I knew I needed this game.

Then it came out... Hue, but after the game got fixed, I was actually happy.

Story: It could've been better. It could've dealt more with the famous historical figures of the time, rather than just push them to the side-missions. Arno is actually likable, yet the same thing as Ezio. He's brash at first, then cools down and becomes the cold-hearted Assassin that the games made us so used to at this point. His love interest, Elise, is hot, but besides that... Eh, she could've been done better. The same thing could have been done with the historical events of the period. Instead of just being there on a mission while a major protest was happening, why not actually experience the wrath of the protest itself? Hopefully they fix this in the next game.

Gameplay: The map is **** huge with a ton of **** to do. Nuff about that. Actual gameplay, however, is fun for the most part. Enemies are in different factions, which are the French Guard, and the Radicals. They are harder than in previous games, so fights present a challenge. They will kill you if they're in a group more than 6. This thus makes the player try to assume a more stealthy approach, and stay away from the guards and radicals. The Parkour Down system is nothing special, other than the fact that you can control your descent now, rather than look for the nearest haystack and jump into it. Player customization is also pretty in-depth. You can choose which armor you want, depending on how it looks, or how it works, but it's in-depth. You can change the colour, and mix and match pieces to make your own unique assassin. This all then goes into the multiplayer, which I think is a welcome addition, as it adds a sense of fraternity and strategy in the game (given of course you have a mic).

Graphics: Beautiful, especially the lighting and the interiors.

Bugs: Now here's the major negative. Even after the fix, the bugs are still majorly prevalent. I wasn't able to get any weapons I've won from club competition because of this bug that got on the game with some Downloadable Content I got, which is a real bummer. The only way it worked was to remove that downloadable content. I've also run into very few crashes on the ps4... *Sigh*

Microtransactions: You don't need to use this if you don't want to spend money. But is is there if you really wanna cheat your way to get good items, so where's the honor in that?

Overall, I don't think this game deserve such negative reviews. Yes, our experiences were marred by launch, but in the end, it's actually pretty decent. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is as immersive as it's ever been (free running around Paris is fun), the map is **** huge, and the story is pretty interesting. It is a very good throwback to the series' roots.

Now in my opinion, it should be worth $30 tops, so wait for a sale and get it.

Also, I'd like to think Ubisoft made up for it because they gave people who got the game at launch a free $60. Legit, for free. I got Far Cry 4 for free because of it, and Far Cry 4 is great!

I consider myself very open to new ideas and am not quick to write off a game that isn't perfect at launch, but nearly 5 months after release the game still feels extremely clunky and unpolished even after all the updates they through into it. And when I say clunky what I mean is frame rate drop, free running mechanics not working as their supposed to (worse than ac1 imo), a slew of graphical and rendering issues, and walking through NPCs like they are phantoms. I played up to sequence 6 before I said, I'll wait for the patch, so I waited for a few months and still not enjoying the game due to this unpolished product. Just going to look up a plot synopsis online because I can't take another minute of playing this very clunky and unfinished product. This is the best AC since Revelation. The customisation, and skill system adds large plus. And finally you can't massacre hundreds of people. The only negative thing, that it is buggy.

A action packed and engaging game, but some of the fun and excitement was taken away from me due to the sudden increase of stealth needed and the hardness of enemies at times. There are some glitches but overall, it is a good AC game and in my opinion, it is worth buying.

Many things that are wrong about today's gaming industry:
-Half-finished and glitch-filled games that are released anyway because "we can always just update them later, right?"

-Single-player games that are next to impossible to enjoy without an internet connection (and thus also PS Plus)
-In-game items accessible only by paying real-life money

This game is all of the above, in many ways. It's buggy and crashes often. It's mostly single player, but in order to unlock all of your character's abilities, you'll need to complete all of the online multiplayer co-op missions. And there are quite a few in-game items that can only be unlocked through paid content packs.

And, as for the game itself, when it works, you'll be treated to barely-above-PS3-quality graphics, a sometimes-confusing stealth mechanic, and a parkour element that ensures that your character will always hang onto the wrong ledge and thus be seen by the enemy.

Just amazing graphics, Unity reproduct perfectly france and its historic facts. Ok, the game had some issues, but patches were released and now is a great game and deserves a second chance

Not a bad game, looks nice and the main character starts out very funny. But one problem, THE GAME IS SSSOOOOOO BBOOORRRIIINNNGGGG. The main character loses his funny personalty after the second sequence. The main missions are boring, the side missions, and there is SOOO much lag.
You can skip this game, go play Ac2 or something.

Horrible FPS drops push this game on averages scores. Developers you dind play game before launch? A Lot of stupid sides missions (searching for clues for example=bored) Game is really huge but sometimes, less is more. I not recommend. Maybe worst game (AAA) what i buy on PS4

Let's hope that the next AC will implement everything Unity couldn't do.

Was this game glitchy at launch? Yes. Is it glitchy now? No. And honestly it's the best game in the series so far. It's what AC1 wanted to be. A big open world with lots of open ended missions, and loads of beautiful scenery. I give this game an 8 because the launch was terrible, but I feel they have redeemed themselves.

Being the first Assassin's Creed game I've played, I can't compare to others but it was kind've fun to play.
Graphics aren't up to current gen standards, and the low frame rate is really noticeable. Apart from that the story was good. Was good to learn a bit of French history. And a lot of the missions are like outposts from Far Cry, which I'm ok with (seems to be a Ubisoft thing).

AC: Unity looks as good as all AC games, and the world is very immersive. The only problem is that the game is still unplayable 4 months after release. It can run fine for maybe 10 minutes, and then it just starts to freeze every 3. second or so, and flip the camera angle to the sky. Another problem is when you are in combat. If they manage to ever fix the game, i would rate it 8 or 9. The only reason i gave it 1, and not 0, is the fact that Ubisoft gave away free season passes to all who bought the game. And a free "AAA" game from Ubisoft to all that had bought the season pass before this.

To possible buyers: " Fly, you fools!"
I thought that nothing could be worse and more bugged than ACIII: then AC Unity came out.

To UBISOFT: I wish you the worse, from the bottom of my hearth.
Glad I bought a second hand game avoiding to give you money to such a fraud of a company.

Unity is not a bad game, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it advances the series very much, especially for the first title in the series to be a fully next-gen game.
