Ill be honest ive owned AC 1,2,3, Black Flag and now Unity and i must admit Unity is tied for the best along with AC 2....amazing game, looks great plays great and there is so much to do...personally the murder mysteries are my favorite addition to the game! must buy but like i said no game is perfect so ill give this a 9.

    The bad: The Bugs

The good: Assassins Creed Unity is one of the the most beatiful Games there were ever created. There are so much details when you look around.

I hope Ubi will fix the Problems, then its a 10 for me.

Wow, a pretty good game. Not as great as AC:BF but great none the less. I've completed the story line, which was great, all the regular co-op, most of the heist, have all but two Sync points. Did most of the Enigma's, a few sequences left to replay to get to 100%, most of the Helix Rift missions, so I can say I've played the game fairly thoroughly.

Regarding bugs, I played the first 4hrs w/o the day one patch. I didn't notice anything beyond the minor crowd outfit changing, and only notice that when walking slowly towards an existing crowd. Not one fall through the floor, not one pop-in character, not one character running in place,... I put on the 1.01 patch, and played for about 6hrs total. I had 2 falls through the floor, a couple character pop ins, a floater, etc not great but I've seen much worse on games that got better grading and had crap content. Then comes along 1.02 patch. I've put in over 20hrs on the 1.02 patch. Haven't seen a pop-in, haven't fallen through the floor, haven't noticed any frame rate dips even with large crowds. The only problems that I've experienced with the 1.02 patch was the online gameplay. Getting lag responses from NPCs (dead/not dead/dead/won't die/right in front of you/across them room...) It would typically only happen late in a game session. Not sure why, seems like things may start to desync late in long game sessions. Was it annoying sure, those few games I experienced the issue. Not all game sessions did I experience the issue. Was it a deal breaker? Not IMO. My goal with the co-op was to play through it enough to get my trophies and be done with them. That said, I actually had a heck of a lot more fun with this cooperative online than I ever did with past competitive online on AC games. Reading through on the 0's and 1's ratings, and I'm guessing the majority of them have never played the game, and have only jumped on the hate bandwagon.

I honestly don't see the problem people have with this game. Yes it had som functional issues in the beginning, but overall it's a great game. Assassin's Creed Unity is as you know the seventh installment inn the long running Assassin's Creed Franchise and i was extremely hyped for this game and to tell you the truth for me it lived up to it.

The game has proved itself a true successor in the franchise it has made remarkable improvements when compared to its predecessors. The games graphics are perhaps among the best ones these days with amazing draw distance and stunning lighting affects and has made richly detailed interiors which are finally fully accessible.
The combat in the game has met with complete redesigning Counter Attack has been completely removed and guards have been made more stronger this i consider a huge improvement because it finally offers a challenge unlike the previous entries honestly speaking back in ACIII I went on one of my.....rampages and after counting all the kills i made it was above 50 and i could still go on and on but by then i got tired same is the case with AC IV in which i killed above 32.But that is not the case here in unity even 4 enemies can give u a very hard time if your'e not focusing similar to the previous entries enemies have classes but even in these classes enemies have levels and with each rising levels it gets harder and you are required to plan your'e tactics even more with the highest ranking being able to fight and dodge just like you and can deal the same or even more damage

Stealth has also seen improvement finally crouch has been added with a new cover mechanic and this combined with the basic stealth killing techniques in the series it's a wonder and something that actually convinces u to try.
assassinations are more dynamic and levels are more non-linear u can approach your'e objective in any way like there is no limitations to how u approach your'e target Take my advise go for stealth if you wanna be less frustrated.
The games AI is amazing it has HUGE crowds who perform different tasks not just the same walking and talking they protest they kill they fight they throw things light fires and support you during fights.

The free running system has also been redesigned and is now more fluid and natural the Story is also intruiging and the main character Arno is really lively and quite what he should be.The side quests have also been MSSIVELY improved it's no repetitive **** as some recent Ubisoft games but each side mission has its own story which can vary from fetch quests to assassinations to discovering things. These side quests basically represent the many stories that took place during the french revolution.Murder mysteries are also there and are quite an addition

The game does have its cons though as it greatly suffers from frame rate drops and huge BUGS although i am ready forgive the frame rate drops although they do hurt the experience but the bugs can be MASSIVE so much that they cannot be ignored.
Co op is also a great addition with levels specifically designed to support teamwork and additional players although you can do them alone but i recommend playing with someone even random people because they can be frustratingly tough if u play alone

Over all Assassin Creed Unity is a thrilling experience if u have a PS4 GO OUT AND BUY IT its worth every penny on this Console

Only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because of the bugs and because I felt main story wise it could have been a lot longer and should be something I hope they deliver better on with next assassins creed title.

Lastly I want to add that assassins creed is for the fans of the series and players that honestly just want and is looking for more of the assassins creed game they love along with of course a new continued main storyline and some newly added on improvements to the current game design and system that is already proven and works. To me that's always a good recipe for a good to great game and it works it doesn't have to be entirely new or different since its a sequel not a completely new game.

It's the only game that kind of connects to me. There are just a few disappointing downsides. The one thing that completely pushed it down to a 9 was a certain button mashing mission in sequence 7 that was extremely hard. It's widely concerned a bug, but it's possible. JUST POSSIBLE. There was also the removal of the Assassin's Contracts that was in at least Black Flag. Those were awesome. Then there was something that wasn't quite a downside or an upside, which was the difficulty of regular combat now. It's now much harder, encouraging stealth, preventing not thinking and just fighting and making sure you can't just survive 30 people on you, but at the same time, you should be able to take up to 8 or so, yet it's hard to take on 3 without skills, armour and experience. Other than the button mashing, nothing big enough to take down my rating, so a 9. Expand

Assassin's Creed Unity is set in one of the best scenarios for an Assassin's Creed game, the French Revolution. A time full of plots, intrigues, treason and social unrest. That being said, let's cut to the chase.

    - In terms of graphics and visuals the game is beautiful. However, even after more than a year from its release, the game suffers from stupid glitches and FPS drops each time you enter a crowded area.

    - Online Features: there are no PvP modes, only PvE. Online missions are, for the most part, like any other mission. Heists require the players to be as stealthy as possible, since being spotted reduces the reward.

    - Main Campaign: the compelling main story provides around 30 missions split in 12 sequences. As usual, each missions will also have multiple optional challenges.

    - Side Quests/Activities: there's just too much to do in ACU. You have Paris Stories (additional quests), Nostradamus Enigmas (riddles), Murder Mysteries (investigations), Helix Rifts (race through an area to collect as many points as possible before the time is off), Social Club Renovations/Missions (additional side quests). On top of all these, you have almost 300 chests, over 100 cockades to collect and a fair share of artifacts to find.

    - Gameplay: compared to Black Flag, I feel the gameplay has suffered a downgrade. You can't whistle, nor move bodies. The stealth component has been reduced to a minimum - blending is never required and avoiding detection is required only once (if you're going for the 100% sync, that is). Furthermore, the "Disguise" skill allows you to instantly camouflage yourself as any character at sight, which makes infiltration a piece of cake (as long as you keep a few feet away from near enemies). Also, it's worth pointing out that Arno's parkour mechanics are oftentimes plainly stupid. He'll hang from the back of a chair, he'll refuse to make simple jumps, he'll ignore your command to throw a smoke bomb while in combat, etc.

    - Weapon variety: you have a fairly decent number of weapons and weapon types (swords, long weapons, heavy weapons, pistols, rifles and guillotine guns).

All in all, ACU is a great game that offers tons of content. It was a great Platinum for my collection, despite some glitches here and there.

Assassin’s Creed.

Mais o resto tudo me agradou.

They feels like a fresh breeze and open another side of the gameplay.
I gave it 9 instead of 10 just because :
    - I found clothes and weapon system a bit confusing, It is har to tell how specific armor impacts overall player stats.
    - When doing beat-em-all style of play - some fight animations of player are too long , which results in inablitiy to parry or counter atack.
    - May be its just me , but I had constant feelinmg that Elise character is redundand and can be easily removed from the story. It feels a bit awkward.

I just finished playing this game and I must say: it's the most underrated Assassin's Creed. After this many years it still feels like a next gen title since great detail has been put into it. The reviews are unfair, give it a try and play for yourselves. This is a true AC game unlike the recent games.

Now where unity really shines is in the gameplay department, more specifically when it comes to parkour and combat. The parkour is fairly fluid but isn't perfect but parkouring around paris will never get old. But what i would argue that unity perfects is the combat. It is very much ac-like but it is still very challenging.
Overall i think unity is awesome and it's still worth checking out.

Got it yesterday and it is a lot of fun. I can see some long nights ahead jumping around and getting into fights, which, I must say, are way more fun than they have been in the past. I didn't notice a frame-drop like everyone is saying, but I will tell you my PS4 sounded like it was about to launch itself to the moon. It's a brand new machine, bought two months ago and I've only played Destiny so far, so to hear the fans spinning like that is concerning. It took my PS3 6 years to start sounding like that. May have to invest in an additional cooling fan or something.

But, bottom line is the game is great, I just hope it doesn't kill my machine.

And I really have to say I love, I absolutely love this game after it's been patched. The fact that I'm very into the French Revolution helps a lot, but I did enjoy my time with ACU and do think of it as one of the best ones in the franchise. Is it a perfect game? No way, absolutely not.

Being the first AC on the new generation, I expected to see some flaws. But the overall experience makes up for it in my opinion. The game is gorgeous, the atmosphere, the characters (I really liked Arno, sue me). And the simplified mechanics worked for me as well. Just like the first AC games, we have a city, a huge, beautiful city, as a playground with tons, TONS of stuff to find / do / decipher etc. Both side quests and main quests keep the experience fresh as you climb your way towards becoming an important pillar in the revolution - and the addition of the co-op (although occasionally broken) missions are a breath of fresh air. So, yes, this is a great game, and one that needs to be played and enjoyed.

Now to the bad stuff. And I concentrate "bad" in one particular thing: Ubisoft's greed. ACU is, by far, the most Assassins Greed ever. And I feel offended, as a gamer and as a consumer, to pay extra dollars to acquire either points or gear or whatever. Basically, they created a system in which we can pay to progress faster. If you don't want to go through all the content in the game (quests, missions, co-op missions) you can just pay your way to the top. This sucks and I really hope no one gave in to this. This must end here. Period.

And, also, this whole "companion app" thing? Give up, Ubisoft. Nobody got time for that and locking content for those who won't play a smart phone app is lame as hell. It's "free", yeah, but there is also a "premium" version. So my biggest problem with Ubisoft is this attitude.

Assassins Creed Unity is an incredible game, one that kept me entertained for hours and hours - and for the 1st time I intend to play the extra chapters. Ubisoft just needs to get real and start listening to what consumers are saying about this nefarious DLC culture.

AC:U is an ambitious game and I'm not seeing almost any of the problems others are reporting. The game is just massive and there is a LOT of content in it. Just the crowd AI and behavior alone is pretty startling. People like to forget that Crysis, for the first few years after its release, couldn't be played at full settings on most peoples' PCs. Battlefield 4, the standard bearer in FPSs, had a rocky launch as well. But BF4, like AC:U, are important franchises and these problems get patched. I'm not sure why everyone is getting so carried away with some glitches or animation syncing issues, the reaction doesn't seem proportional to the problem.

I do have some complaints about AC:U. The "Animus" plotline was interesting in the first few ACs, but it should have been shelved permanently after the Ezio games ended. It hurts the series at this point, and if they can't have AC without it, they should think about retiring AC altogether because it's getting really old and reduces AC's quality in my view. The game also encourages users to use Uplay and has microtransactions as well - I don't care for either.

I like this game, I'm not sure what all the fuss is for. It must be a slow news week or maybe some people are just bored and need something to complain about?

I liked Arno and Elise's chemistry and playful natures, I liked the way the city felt, and I liked the downplaying of the Templar vs Assassin war. An addition by subtraction was that it wasn't extended by tedious and pointless modern day sequences like AC4 was, so that's a plus for me

What annoyed me however was the removal of competitive multiplayer in favor of co-op missions that i never bothered to play. For a game that had like 20 minutes of credits worth of people working on it why couldn't they have just reused the modes from previous games but with new maps? Surely they could have spared a few dozen people to do this.

Overall an enjoyable game and one I enjoyed more than AC4 (boats were fun for the first 2 hours, not the next 10) and one i'd recommend to AC fans.

Now that it's been patched, AC Unity can finally attempt to live up to the hype. Does it succeed? Well... Sort of.

Firstly, revolutionary Paris is gorgeous and very accurately represented. Sure, the map is like fifty times smaller than the actual city, but major landmarks are where they're supposed to be, and look exactly like what they're supposed to look like. I would know, I grew up right in the heart of Paris. The walls look old and cracked, the streets are filled with the hustle and bustle of hundreds of NPCs with almost no visible graphical slowdown, each district has enough to it to look distinctive, the lighting is absolutely phenomenal, and everything just look jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

The parkour is... well, it's alright. It does it's job. A few times, I've thrown myself into the black abyss or off a cathedral into absolutely nothing and died horribly. You still get caught on elements you didn't even know were there, like in every other Assassin's Creed game. Sometimes you just can't jump to the next hold for completely arbitrary reasons, just like every game before it. Overall, though, it works pretty well, and being able to tear through building interiors is great.

Combat is much improved over previous installments. Parrying and dodging work now, and you can get easily overrun by enemies if you don't plan ahead. I did, however, find that smoke grenades are an easy and incredibly efficient way to cheese the combat and turn almost every encounter to your advantage.

Side quests are very rinse and repeat. Some of the Paris stories are really fun, but most of them are just another variation on "kill him" or "steal this". The option to buy cafes and social clubs to generate more money is neat, and isn't intrusive on the game at all.

Story is whatever. It's not the best I've ever seen, though it's far from the worst. Average, I suppose, would be the qualifier. Arno is rather uninteresting except for the occasional quip or one liner, the Assassins are presented as a bunch of pricks, and the Templar are equally mean-spirited in their presentation. The only really stand out character, aside from the occasional historical fanservice, is Elise.

Overall, I would rate this game favorably. It's not the greatest game I've ever played, but it's probably the best Assassin's Creed game that didn't involve pirate ships I've ever played. Pick it up for cheap and see what you've been missing.

The requirement of carefully planned stealth with assassinations is always enjoyable with AC...and AC:U doesn't let down in this respect. Loads of fun so far. Much appreciated is the expansion of range of exploration to the inside of buildings (again, exquisitely detailed), improved character customization/loadout, and added element of challenge that seems to be inherent in combat now. Definitely more difficult! The co-op missions have been frustrating so far, but I've never been a big co-op enthusiast, honestly......definitely wasn't the selling point of this game for me.

Keeping it short, if you have played any AC games before and loved combat and stealth, this game is definitely what you want in AC. The story isn't short, and you will find yourself grinding getting F money and Creed Points on the side for customization.

Story itself would have been way more immersive if it wasn't for the Abstergo and Animus storyline on the side, which thankfully doesn't peak into gameplay constantly like other AC games do.

Combat is really fun, and all classes of weapons are all unique and fun to use. Stealth is easy to understand, and fun most of the time.

Assassinations in the story are fun to play, giving you the option of killing everyone in sight or playing stealthy and finding your target first.

What really hurts this game on both PS4 and Xbox One is that the frame rate is constantly dipping in areas of Paris which are very populated, and on certain occasions coming from nowhere.

While I constantly try and tell people that they shouldn't expect much from the annual formula that is Assassins Creed, this time around, for the first time since Assassins Creed 2, I got 100% on the game and finished the free Dead Kings expansion on the side, which was also fun.

I give Assassins Creed: Unity an 8.9/10

First of all, the cons: No competitive multiplayer; Kinda bad optimization; Almost Useless Pedestrians = Lower FPS; the necessity to go online to have 100% completion and finally *SPOILERS ALERT* another female character brutally murdered by Ubisoft (Ubisoft just has to kill them off, from Maria to Christina to Clara in Watch_Dogs and Elise from ACU).
Then the pros: Interesting story as always, a good amount of history/pseudo-history to be learnt from the database, harder and better combat system and a new parkour system.
Generally, the game has its improvements, if Ubisoft patch the game up a bit, it would be much better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well now,

I think its testament to the superb high quality of games nowadays that has unleashed this much gamer fury at Ubisofts latest collect-a-thon.
The bar has been raised pretty high now for these types of games and when its released it had better be ready or every spotted adolescent and his dog will be reviewing the game in anger.

I have played about halfway through the main mission, yet completed most of the other stuff on offer. It’s good to get the café and social clubs up and running pretty quickly for all the cash you receive – but then you feel a bit more apathetic about collecting 100 Franks from all those damn chests.

Features:- So far no horse and ship which is a little disappointing. It would be nice to control a carriage like in RDR or the pirate ship in AC3 or AC4. The missions are generally pretty varied and its good not having to do a “follow someone” mission every ten minutes apart.

Graphics are good and but the frame rate does take a bit of a dive when you are surrounded by guards. - It doesn’t bother me though because I don’t last very long even with the stun/smoke bombs.
Graphic glitches are part of the game with games like these but it hasn’t put me off the game because it doesn’t hinder you much. It’s quite funny sometimes to see a shopkeepers fruits suspended in mid air. Or the pianist standing on his stool while playing. One thing that is common is the spawning of citizens. They will “drop” in from somewhere and often get caught on a fence or table. As I said it doesn’t hinder the game but it is pretty sloppy. I have made a little community challenge of capturing the best glitch. Needless to say there are a lot of entries.

The story is okay so far. (I am still on sequence 6). Although it’s not particularly hard to guess where the plot is going. I wonder if Beethoven is going to dedicate a song to Elise? …and seeing the Marquis de Sade in a game is always going to be interesting.
Unfortunately like Connor before him, Arno’s character isn’t built out so well so far, so it is hard to really care for him, what he is doing, and just the story in general. I am getting pretty pissed at these assassin **** Elise seemed pretty interesting so I am looking forward to those twists.

Sure, the streets are REAL crowded but it feels like revolutionary France so to hell with it. At night and in some districts there perhaps doesn’t need to be that many people, surely? One thing that gets me is while running away through crowds a French guard pursuer nearly ALWAYS hits me in the head from behind killing me. Where was that kind of accuracy in… erm… practically any historic battle the French have ever fought? Joking aside, there are a few tweaks that could have been done here to align the game a bit tidier with previous titles and even the “Shadows of Mordor”. I like the “old capture and grab” that might have worked a bit better so long as the captives buddy’s don’t just shoot through him to get at me. looking at the level of effort that was put into this game thats is perhaps what I would have expected.

All in all, it seems quite fun and worth the money I suppose. Worth all the time? Not sure yet, but not being able to open chests at lock pick level three until sequence 9 will probably put a few completionists off due to the sheer time it will take to revisit those chest areas that you could have taken while doing another mission or task etc.

The Companion app? Well its useful for wasting a few hours while riding to work but that’s about it. It’s a gimmock.

The multiplayer is a little daft considering its a stealth game and that's exactly not whats going to happen.
Fun game but as always doesn't live up to the potential becasue of its rushed schedule to get a new AC game out of the door every year before Christmas. sigh.

Why? Because it feels like the natural progression of the AC games since 1 were about stealth, templars, assassins and conquering districts and performing cool assassinations and learning about history. Where the new games try to be open world, Witcher-wanna-bes.

This game is, imo, the best of them all because it feels like a true AC title, adds many extra cool weapons, skills and equipment as well as, most importantly, a giant beautiful detailed city to explore and climb to your hearts content.

Mas agora na atualidade foram lançados diversos patchs de correções fazendo com que os vários bugs venham ser diminuídos bastante e o desempenho melhorado( mas ainda continua tendo uma performance ruim).Esse jogo é realmente pra quem é fã da serie.

Let me start of by saying that this game did feel like a step down from black flag.. But a lot of that might come from the fact that I loved the setting and naval battles.

A lot of talk about combat being harder is not really true for me.. Its still the basic 'parry-counterattack'-dance , only the timing is more strict. Camera-angles are sometimes ridiculously bad , resulting in having enemies engage you from angles you cant see in 2 out of 3 fights.
The story is less chaotic than black flag to me.

The adding of health packs makes a lot more sense and had me playing AC in a different way that I'm used to do. The stealth-mode and guided descend-functions make só much sense.

An incredible amount of side-missions and network features!

You can't take people that give this game a rating under 7 serious, thats hating on the franchise.
Still a lot more excited for FC4 and there definitly is better stuff out there but really worth it's price.

Giving this game a zero would make it the worst game of all time and that is just nonsense. By no means is it the best assassin's creed game but if you're a fan of the series then you will love this one. The story is not the strongest but besides that it's a very addicting game and I'm having a hard time trying to put it down.

Was this game glitchy at launch? Yes. Is it glitchy now? No. And honestly it's the best game in the series so far. It's what AC1 wanted to be. A big open world with lots of open ended missions, and loads of beautiful scenery. I give this game an 8 because the launch was terrible, but I feel they have redeemed themselves.

First let me say that I fully understand the bad reviews of this game, at its release the huge amounts of defaults were just overwhelming and that's a shame because if the developers were left enough time to correct it before its release Unity could have been remember as the best game in the franchise since Brotherhood.

A lot of improvements have been made starting by the first obvious one the graphics, they are gorgeous with a city of Paris that look very alive, with a huge amount of details, lot of interiors, lot of characters on the screen you can easily understand why there was so many issues on the technical side, compared to Unity, Black Flag several years old, and even now after all the patches some minor bugs remain.

There's also some improvement on the gameplay, climbing is more comfortable with the ability of "free running down" like they call it, the sword fights are more difficult (at least an Assassin's Creed game where you stand very small chance when outnumbered 10 to 1 !) and there is some character customization (unlock the skills you desire most, choose your style of weapon, and then improve your gear all over the game), and of course some co-op missions that are very well done and truly enjoyable when playing with friends, nothing new on the infiltration but this is already quite a big deal and I personally liked those changes.

On the content side once again the game is very generous with a quite interesting story and characters, tons of collectibles and at least side activities really interesting with their own stories to tell, that's a huge plus for me and it really makes you want to play them all. In total to reach 100% you can expect 50 hours in the game with more than 30 dedicated to the story and side stories, very good value for money.

Once again my review is based on the game as it is today and its goal is to help those that hesitates to buy it today (or in the future), and in this optic I really advised Unity for all those qualities. Yes the game is pretty mainstream (and already the ninth of the franchise) and still got some bugs but a very effective gameplay, gorgeous visuals, tons of hours of entertainment, isn't that a good video game ?

And then came the Americas, both games were terrible, in my opinion. I traded them in both, after only a few hours. Why have I told you all this? It's because I want you to know I'm being honest.
This game so far, and I have completed almost %35 of the game, reminds me of the ones that took place in Italy. The story is not spectacular but at the same time it's good enough to keep you interested. Paris is awesome and running around the street in the aftermath of the revolution is a lot of fun. Enemies are better fighters than in previous games, if you are caught 4 to 1, for example, your chances of survival are very low. In previous games I could easily take 7-8 enemies, in this one it seems very difficult to do that.
The only downside so far is the lack of new moves that I can do during combat. Other than that, I like the game a lot so far. So much that I took a sick day today and I'm playing non-stop.
Anyone who gives this game a 0 has a different agenda, be sure of that.

AC: Unity is not bad, is good but is not the game that Ubisoft sell us from the first demo or trailer. We can enjoy a lot of things in AC: Unity: new game modes and customization but maybe the big problem is that the gameplay is not fluid as an Asassin's Creed game used to be.

I'm not sure some of the other reviewers on here have even played the game. It hit out shelves on Friday and its now Sunday, this review is perhaps the only thing I've done other than eat, sleep and play since it's landed. Even though I am a massive fan of the series I try to be objective in what I write.

All the ingredients are there which make a good AC game. It's graphically very crisp as you'd expect from the series, and the usual array of characters are neatly written into an absorbing and varied set of stories and challenges. The game has taken a step back by having the one main area, Paris, as opposed to splitting down to multiple locations. As yet I haven't visited every area of Paris which gives you an idea of how big it is, and cleverly writing in playable sequences featuring the Eiffell Tower really does show the intention of immersing you in Parisian life.

Arno is likeable and engrossing where perhaps the protagonist from AC3 and Edward Kenway were not as such. His relationships with the other characters feel very real and I feel genuine emotion between him and Elise which doesn't always come through in a game.

Those moaning about combat are angry because you can't just mash the buttons in amongst 50 guards and win every time. You have to pick your fights cleverly, and know when you've bitten off more than you can chew. It's unforgiving at times, a fight with four guards will invariably leave Arno in a pool of claret and you back where you started the mission. During some combat it can be tough to see whats going on. If you're close to a wall the camera can obscure you or guards which is a little frustrating.

I like the stealth and the ghost image which is obviously lifted from Splinter Cell. Arno can't hide behind everything though which is a little frustrating, at times I've hit X button to crouch by a wall and simply stood in plain view - and believe me the A1 isn't forgiving at all. You do soon pick up where and when this is going to occur though.

There are some bugs. Twice I've started a mission only for me to complete one part of it and nothing else to happen - no further instructions or map points. It's frustrating indeed but it's never happened on the main story and both times the game has carried on - I've been and selected another mission.

I've occasionally seen NP's walk through each other, and I saw one spawn in a cart of hay but given the thousands I've encountered I can be a little forgiving. The streets are bustling with life, people are everywhere and whilst some complain they slow you down surely that's the idea? The streets of Paris would be bustling, these things would slow you down! The rooftops are the place to be and unlike previous AC's they're not full of guards waiting to shoot you down, meaning movement across the city is very free and easy.

All in I acknowledge the game needs a little work still, one or two bugs creep in that hamper the game playing experience. At present it isn't the first real next gen only game that has blown me away. I'm still waiting for that (Far Cry 4 maybe), but it is a return to what I believe makes the AC series. Black Flag was very good but it had strayed a little from the Assassins Creed formula. I think that is what makes this series so great - Black Flag was a multiple location sea faring game whilst this is back to one city stealth and lots of side quests.

It misses a 9 or a 10 because of the bugs, but I don't think the haters understand what makes a good AC game. It's not about button bashing and shooting at ships, it's about stealth, picking your fights and for the first time ever building your character. Its well written, well presented and doubtless with a patch or two being released it'll become well polished. Don't avoid this because twenty or thirty teenagers find it inaccessible - they'll be back on COD and FIFA before the more refined gamer is 30% of the way through this beauty.

    Talk about revolutionary.

Not, mind you, in the sense of a radical shift, but in terms of having two polarized armies going at it. Assassin's Creed, the series you either adore or bemoan, is now even more divisive than before, thanks to the coupling of amazing new gameplay systems and archaic hangers-on that aren't ready to drift away into the annals of history.

Taking place in yet another tumultuous time period, in yet another fascinating city rarely seen in video games, and with a well told and maturely written tale spanning decades, Assassin's Creed: Unity excels at giving us what we expect out of the series, with a number of smart tweaks. The AI-driven free-running system, for instance, now feels more fluid and dynamic thanks largely to the Parkour Down ability and a generally well-designed landscape to ply it in. Traversing this massive city is more pleasant than before now that city officials have evidently decided that having half their guards hanging out on rooftops is detrimental to curbing crime which primarily takes place at ground level. Combat, meanwhile, is more harrowing than before, with enemies employing aggressive tactics and forgetting that they're supposed to wait for their turn and ignore their firearms. The story, also, is more focused than even Black Flag, with the assassinations front and center and a singular goal of revenge coursing through the games. The modern day components, for those who consider this to be needless distractions (I like them, but to each their own), are pushed deep into the background and only come up for air to remind you that you're playing an Assassin's Creed game and that there's a whole meta-story going on.

Best of all, the actual assassination missions actually feel like, well, assassinations. Arno stalks his prey through massive graveyards, massive mansions, massive cathedrals, and massive public gatherings. While these may not reach the tactical heights of, say, your average Hitman game, they are well above what we've seen out of the series prior.

So, that's all well and good, and appreciated. Of course, this is Assassin's Creed, and there's always a balance. The technical issues have been pounded on since launch, and I won't reiterate them here because a) I rarely experienced them myself, and b) the multitude of patches Ubisoft has issued has largely dealt with these. Perhaps I'm more forgiving than most, as I lived through the earlier days of gaming where a "bug" might, for instance, frag your entire hard drive, so the occasional skipped frame or missing face, while disturbing, is not a deal breaker for me, and I prefer to appreciate the work that's gone into this project.

What's harder to forgive, however, are the issues that have been plaguing the series since its inception. As good as the parkour feels when you're simply running around, any time you're attempting a specific move during a mission, it is an inevitability that Arno will decide that hanging from a door frame is the fastest way to escape a throng of bandits. This occurs less often than the earlier games, where Ezio and the gang would frequently make suicidal leaps for the fun of it, but it's still disheartening to see it return after a supposed total revamp. There are still eavesdropping quests, though less than before, and there are still some duds amongst the missions that will have you shaking your head.

There's also a multiplayer component, which I will concede I've not even touched as of yet.

So, no, Assassin's Creed Unity is far from perfect. It's not even the pinnacle of the series (AC II and Black Flag, in my estimation). It's marred by questionable design decisions that should have been ironed out years ago, technical hiccups that break the illusion, and the same control qualms that have led to the deaths of countless assassins since the middle ages. On the flip side, it is a mature tale well told, with fascinating characters in a compelling backdrop. The dichotomy between the Assassins and the Templars continues to become less black and white and more grey, with each warring side coming closer to one another with every passing generation. The production values scream next generation any time the sun drapes across the cobblestone streets you're dashing down and any time you stroll past a band entertaining a crowd. The environment is lovingly crafted -- I spent an absurd amount of time watching the populace go about their daily lives, and was floored when I realized that there was an entire sequence, easily missed by those in a hurry, of people working on a printing press from start to finish.

Seriously, that part was freaking cool.

Here's my verdict, then, at the end of an overlong treatise to this year's entry: It's not perfect, just like every other Assassin's Creed game. Other games have improved on its mechanics several times over. But nothing else feels like Assassin's Creed, and I am genuinely enamoured with this series and its personality.

Let's start with the good things first: -new challenging combat system
    -good, intriguing story
    -beautiful graphics
    -advanced stealth play
    -awesome, diversified side missions
-smooth gameplay ( at least in my case)
    -cool customization menu
And now for the bad things: -horrible ending
    -too many collectibles
-the main story is too short
-the modern day story is equal to zero (worse than it is in AC IV)
-a little buggy in some parts
Overall, I enjoyed the game, but I hope that in the next one they'll put more effort in it.

I enjoy the flow of the park-our much more than I had in the past, and the amount of extras in the city alone took up many hours of my time, as I found myself going and completing each zone before doing the main story missions. I did find the characters to be underdeveloped, as Arno was a bland but interesting character in it of himself. The missions were typical AC missions with a few new "twist" on some missions. I did enjoy seeing a companionship occur with the Templar and Assassins until it was broken. I also enjoyed the era it was in, and it felt like a city submitting itself to a revolution.
Sure there is a lot of the same in this game as previous Assassin Creeds, but I enjoyed it, I enjoy the history it included, and the movement and combat seemed a lot more realistic. Arno isn't an unstoppable force as previous assassins, and he had a vendetta to fulfill, which made him seem a bit more human.
Overall its an Assassin Creed game, it sticks to its formula, but achieves it to a decent degree. Not a bad game, but not the best in the series either.

As someone who has played all of the Assassin's Creed games, I would put Unity up there just below AC2/AC4. I would rank it higher but the story isn't the strongest. Having said that, I think for the most part, the gameplay has received a much-needed upgrade in many respects:

    - Combat is challenging now. As a result, you really feel an incentive to be stealthier than in the past entries. All the tools and gadgets you have actually serve a purpose once again! I actually find myself using *cherry bombs* and stun grenades, since I prefer to save my smoke bombs for making escapes.

    - Although still not perfect, I think the Parkour controls have been significantly improved. Once you get used to them, you will be able to control Arno with greater precision and dexterity than you could previous titles. I feel like I can fly through Paris much more quickly than I could the cities in prior games.

    - I love the customization options you get for Arno and his equipment. Having so much control over appearance and abilities is awesome.

    - Graphics are incredible

    - Multiplayer is hit or miss. I like the idea of it, but ultimately, so often it seems like the missions just devolve into a chaotic melee.

    - Club competitions are a neat idea, but it sucks that they last a whole week and you get one piece of gear from it. You'll have to play a long time and be in a winning club to collect everything.

    - I love getting awarded Creed points for doing cool stuff. This, along with the increased combat difficulty, steers you towards completing missions in cool and stealthy ways, using tools you wouldn't normally rely on. Plus it gives you an excuse to jump on every lift you see and fly up to the rooftops.

    - Story is weak. Characters are weak.

    - Missions are cool, though. I like the increased variety and challenge of the mission types and the elimination of the stupid "be-stealthy-and-eavesdrop-if-you're-seen-you-desynch"

    - Cover does need to be improved. As others have noted, it's pretty finicky and most aggravating is the fact that you can't go around corners while in cover. I found myself relying more on shooting my phantom blade, using disguises, or cherry bomb lures to facilitate my stealthy operations.

Bottom line, I think this is the future of the AC games going forward, and I don't see that as a bad thing. The biggest suggestion I have is to use your different tools and be stealthy. You'll have 5-star golden gear and be racking up points in club competition in no time.

In Unity, Ubisoft have delivered a beautiful game with a compelling story which helps it to become one of the stand out chapters of the series in recent years. Once the glitches and bugs had been ironed out, Unity plays very well with just the odd glitch rearing its head. Often the parkour can be slightly clumsy but the depth of gameplay and detail in Paris more than makes up for the negatives.

I warmed to Arno eventually and, whilst he isn't as likeable as Kenway or Ezio, he does have his charms and I hope to see more of his story in future AC games.

The lack of 'modern world' levels in this chapter of the AC series means that the underpinning lore doesn't progress much further than it reached in Black Flag and Rogue but this is refreshing. Ubisoft have produced a game you will love whilst leaving the door open for an exciting new chapter in the AC universe.

Here is my review for the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin's Creed Unity:

Background and Coverage --> I have played Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 3, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag. I will cover the main game, as well as the Dead King's DLC. Also, please keep in mind that this game is judged after the initial patches which, in my opinion, made Assassin's Creed Unity playable.

Story --> Unlike previous Assassin's Creed games where there was relevance to both the Assassins's tale and his/her real-life corrupt corporation story-line, Unity focuses primarily on the Arno Dorian's life, whose biological and adopted father get killed. It covers a number of clichés that typically appear in a "revenge" story, which includes a lover, a couple of interesting characters, and a few twists that will keep you invested long enough to go through the single-player story at least once. It is not as good as Assassin's Creed Black Flag when it comes to story-telling, but it is still very enjoyable.

Sound --> The game's sound design really represent France during the French Revolution. It is common to hear people bickering, accordion music playing in the background, a few cries for help whenever they are being mugged or harassed. The voice-actors also do a great job in bringing their characters to life, with a particular shout-out to Dan Jeannotte, who voices the game's protagonist (Arno).

Graphics --> There has been a lot of controversy about the game's initial release and a few of the reasons for it surfaced throughout my experience. The game has crashed a couple of times towards the end of the game and there were a few irritating glitches that occurred during pivotal moments in the game. In fact, that is my main gripe with Assassin's Creed Unity -- I, as an Assassin, can climb buildings with ease, but when it comes to jumping over a goat or climbing into a room, I experience some issues. In addition, there were a few instances where I would jump from the top of building while aiming at a stock of hay, but my player would completely miss it and I would die. With all of that being said, they do not occur very often and the game is still good. Now, I must talk about the overall graphics. The first and only game that truly wowed me with its graphical fidelity was Killzone Shadow Fall. That is, until I got my hands on Assassin's Creed Unity. My jaw dropped the floor when I saw the facial animations and the smoothness of the parkour (although at times annoying) and the environment are absolutely stunning. Personally, this is a show-case game simply for its graphical aspect.

Gameplay --> If you have played an Assassin's Creed game, then you know what to expect with Assassin's Creed Unity. If not, then your experience will include parkour movement, a large amount of main/side missions, improvised moments where you either have to kill enemies or chase after a thief, and a few references to historical figures, which include Napoleon. You can either play it stealthy or go Rambo-style, but I would not recommend the latter, especially at the beginning. Your skills and equipment can be upgraded by doing the aforementioned missions and participating in co-op multi-player, which is easily the best part of the game. You can do two types of missions (typical missions with clear objectives that normally revolve around killing a certain individual and Heists missions) with up to four people and the first time that you sync a four-player assassination will get your adrenaline running and make it seem as if you accomplished something truly special. When glitches do not get in your way, the gameplay is spectacular and it is the reason why Assassin's Creed Unity is simply a fun game with which you mess around.

Longetivity --> Assassin's Creed Unity's replayability will depend on (a) your tolerance to re-play the co-op missions and/or (b) do them with friends. There is not much to do in the game once you clear the story-mode and the side missions (which could take you a while -- I am still trying to complete everything). Therefore, if you like the co-op missions and would like to pop the game in once in a while to do a heist or an assassination mission, then I would certainly keep the title in your collection.

Dead King's DLC --> If you already chose to buy the game, you might as well download this piece of DLC. It is free, and it adds some cool missions, a new enemy type and equipment. The story adds to Arno's personality and I enjoyed the four-hour add-on to the original game. I have to point out an area of the map that is only available in the DLC -- the catacombs. They are extremely annoying. Enemies typically re-spawn in order to fill-out the void in the map, but the frequency in which they do it here is ridiculous. This is just a pet-peeve and, as frustrating as it is, it doesn't detract from the overall experience.

Overall --> Purchase at a minor sale-price ($40). Glitches aside, it is a fun game for the PlayStation 4.

Only CERTAIN missions allow multiplayer (Co-Op missions and Heists in particular, which are about 40% or less of all the game's missions.), and to top that off, stealth focused games CAN have multiplayer, if it is done right. If it's stealth focused the team members need to communicate to work together and not screw it up. The only problems I have with this game, is the lack of open-world interaction (Unity's boils down to a dummed down version of Brotherhood's in a way, only you can't do all the cool, fun stuff. Hide underwater, Throw weapons at enemies, attack civilians, tackle Civilians, ledge tackle thieves, pick up enemies' weapons, etc.). The combat system is very basic itself. It's main problems is there's no way to get past the enemies' defenses. You mostly have to wait and parry endlessly until Arno ACTUALLY hit them after blocking so you can get a hit, which depending on your enemy's attack, might not happen much. The battle system needed improvement, but it works, unlike III's which changed all your counters to push-away counter for no reason whatsoever (why that one was in III is beyond me).
Nowadays this game is not as glitchy as it used to be and you do definitely have some glitches, but nearly all of them are minor and don't truly **** with your experience too much, as all the huge bugs have been patched, obviously.
Unity truly stepped up with the parkour aspect, Arno can actually move alot more freely then the past characters (albeit requiring more precision with your control, but nonetheless). Quite a bit of the weapons in the game are spectacularly designed (ie: Flamberge, The Fleur-de-Lys, Sword of Eden, etc.). And the story itself is actually pretty good, not as good as past games, but still. I won't go into full details on it, but unlike other characters *cough*Conner*cough*, Arno actually gets *legasp* development! :oc And back to the co-op part, I find that they should bring back co-op, fora couple of reasons. One, being that it makes the game last a whole ton longer. Think about it, you beat all the Story missions, all the side-missions, all the colelctibles and everything else. What else is there TO DO?? And along comes CO-OP missions and HEISTS. You can bring your friends and HAVE FUN..as an Assassin. Course the only problems the co-op has (aside from some rare glitches, though they can be fixed by leaving the group and re-entering) is that Ubisoft (much like all their other games' online servers) abandon their servers upon creation and quite a few times you can't connect for some reason.
However, my biggest gripe for the game is this: There's a well-designed sword in the game called the Fleur-de-Lys. well, it's in the game, but it was included in the season's pass, which has been done away with. And in late 2015 was put up on PSN and xboxb live as a free separate download. which is good, but yes the XBOX Live download for it is still there, but the link to the sword's download page on PSN redirects to the Unity page. Where it only has the main 4 add-ons along with the Helix Credits packs. : Thus, sword can't be obtained. Would be averted if they'd just put it in an Initiates Chest or something. :
And personally, even with the glitches the game still has, I find this game MUCH MORE enjoyable than III and Black Flag (Black Flag was probably their most falsely-advertised game yet, claiming you can go into taverns and recruit crewmates (which is just you walking to the entrance of a tavern and beating up people and they just randomly join you after you punch them in the face enough times), that you can fully-customize your ship (which you can't even change its name, it stays as a dainty wimpy liitle BRIG, and can only add additional armor guns and parts onto it, and that's it. You can't even change it's class of ship. I don't I was expecting to use I don't know...A galleon..? OR a Man'o'war?? Or at least a Frigate.. :), and the worst part of it was that they said you can finally dual wield! (which is just using a singular weapon slot that counts as a paired weapon, much like Dark Souls 3 does), dual wielding means Way of the Samurai 3 style, or Dark Souls 2 style. Where you can put any weapon in either hand and if you have two weapons equipped, they will be dual-wielded.) Syndicate just basically had the **** combat system and moves (ie: filled with knives, brassknuckles and pistols with just knocking people out with hook punches and knees. Syndicate's Frye twins probably wouldn't even last two seconds against CHILDHOOD Ezio :)

Assassin's Creed Unity, boy was I excited for this game. The trailers showed many things; Stunning graphics, increase in crowds, the new Parkour Down system as well as Player Customization... There were so many things I looked forward to that I knew I needed this game.

Then it came out... Hue, but after the game got fixed, I was actually happy.

Story: It could've been better. It could've dealt more with the famous historical figures of the time, rather than just push them to the side-missions. Arno is actually likable, yet the same thing as Ezio. He's brash at first, then cools down and becomes the cold-hearted Assassin that the games made us so used to at this point. His love interest, Elise, is hot, but besides that... Eh, she could've been done better. The same thing could have been done with the historical events of the period. Instead of just being there on a mission while a major protest was happening, why not actually experience the wrath of the protest itself? Hopefully they fix this in the next game.

Gameplay: The map is **** huge with a ton of **** to do. Nuff about that. Actual gameplay, however, is fun for the most part. Enemies are in different factions, which are the French Guard, and the Radicals. They are harder than in previous games, so fights present a challenge. They will kill you if they're in a group more than 6. This thus makes the player try to assume a more stealthy approach, and stay away from the guards and radicals. The Parkour Down system is nothing special, other than the fact that you can control your descent now, rather than look for the nearest haystack and jump into it. Player customization is also pretty in-depth. You can choose which armor you want, depending on how it looks, or how it works, but it's in-depth. You can change the colour, and mix and match pieces to make your own unique assassin. This all then goes into the multiplayer, which I think is a welcome addition, as it adds a sense of fraternity and strategy in the game (given of course you have a mic).

Graphics: Beautiful, especially the lighting and the interiors.

Bugs: Now here's the major negative. Even after the fix, the bugs are still majorly prevalent. I wasn't able to get any weapons I've won from club competition because of this bug that got on the game with some Downloadable Content I got, which is a real bummer. The only way it worked was to remove that downloadable content. I've also run into very few crashes on the ps4... *Sigh*

Microtransactions: You don't need to use this if you don't want to spend money. But is is there if you really wanna cheat your way to get good items, so where's the honor in that?

Overall, I don't think this game deserve such negative reviews. Yes, our experiences were marred by launch, but in the end, it's actually pretty decent. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is as immersive as it's ever been (free running around Paris is fun), the map is **** huge, and the story is pretty interesting. It is a very good throwback to the series' roots.

Now in my opinion, it should be worth $30 tops, so wait for a sale and get it.

Also, I'd like to think Ubisoft made up for it because they gave people who got the game at launch a free $60. Legit, for free. I got Far Cry 4 for free because of it, and Far Cry 4 is great!

I had one part where my character glitched into the wall and then he died but other than that nothing else happened. I feel like the Assassin's Creed franchise is supposed to be a stealth game, but I found Unity to be a less stealth-oriented game and that if you got spotted by one of the guards it didn't matter or affect the rest of the mission. There were only two boss battles, the first one was very easy, and the last one was as well. There were some times where I couldn't wait for the game to be over, but others where I was really enjoying it and having fun. In this game there were a lot of assassination missions, and even in past Assassin's Creed games there were lots of these assassination missions, but in this game they were very repetitive.
