I would say Unity overall is very good game, it had some issues at launch, but that was like million years ago. When cyberpunk 2077 bug's will be fixed, it will still have amateur level police spawning system, tons of missing content and generally boring open world. So these game are not even comparable. Unity is better game in every way, keep in mind it's 2014 game vs 2020 game and Unity was never promoted as "next gen open world". Expand

Ubisoft has always made quality games, they are obviously no Rockstar Games, but neither are other companies and that's a fact. But that last one is about personal taste, because Origins is very well made game and looks stunning. If you don't care about historical locations, monuments etc or history of this planet in general, then these games very clearly are not for you! These aren't your typical pointless shooter or whatever teh f...ck else is popular right now. These games are way deeper and well crafter. There's are a reason why literal historians get almost shocked, how well these world are created. You can literally look these people up from youtube playing AC Origins etc.
These games are nothing you should take for granted, ever. There's so many people from past who would have given anything to play these kinds of locations in video game, but they never could, because these types of games didn't exist before year 2007 and that was just the beginning. They would have loved to climb realistic Notre Dame in 1790s Paris (AC Unity) or Pyramids in Egypt (AC Origins). Modern people finally can do that and that's big deal, very big deal. But these absolutely stupid haters will never understand that and that's sad and pathetic at the same time. Not that i care, i will keep playing these games until the day i die, but i just felt like it's important point these things out.

Unity has almost none of this annoying modern day story that was completely pointless. Only reason people play these games is going back in time, not some modern day bs.

It's so obvious that half of these reviews are just fake, trolling, double accounts etc. I was reading over 200 of them to understand what the hell were these people thinking and it seems like most them doesn't even care for this game at all. Some of them doesn't even like Assassin's Creed. So it's so obvious that this user score is rigged by bunch of haters, who could care less, if these games ever existed.

This game is absolutely amazing. It's most fun i have had in very long time (and yes, i play tons of other games as well, but that doesn't mean i can't compliment stuff i like). To elaborate, it's not like when Red Dead Redemption 2 is amazing game and obviously better game than AC Unity, then by some logic i can never say that I absolutely loved AC Unity. It doesn't make any sense, but sadly there are actually people out there, who think that way (certain youtubers even, but i'm not going to name them, because they simply don't deserve it).

People who say that this game is boring and simply delusional and i mean it! I could spend hours just parkouring around Paris, climbing etc. Just as i could swing around in Spider-Man (2018) for hours. And it's not only parkour obviously, city is full of things and places to discover. I was shocked how many hidden entrances there were, where you can randomly climb inside some houses and only entrance would be on rooftop, so you literally have to search for them and that's cool in my opinion. That's called exploration. AC Unity has by far best combat animations and combat is very brutal in this game. There's also tons of famous landmarks of Paris, Catacombs etc, it's all there.

So people who said that this city is empty and boring, were either lying or didn't even care to look for these things and places. Of course it's not Black Flag level exploration, but there's just so much you can do with city game. Could it have even more content? Sure. But in my opinion it has already enough. Graphics are absolutely phenomenal, specially on PC. It's easily top 3 best looking game of 2014 and still holds up amazingly. Even tho it's obviously best on PC, even on PS4 it's still great. Overall conclusion : It's amazing game, i absolutely love it and i'm highly recommending this.

Glad they changed the combat, now it is more challenging but still with upgrades and better gear you can go through few enemies at once. In fact harder enemies and different combat push you to be more tactical and use your additional equipment, like smoke boms etc. Paris is a busy place and there are hundreds of missions available within the game. Hope that Ubisoft will patch the game asap so more people will have a chance to play this game smoothly. Expand

Voices are top-notch; music helps immersiveness; the background elements (mostly people) put you right into a Romantic-era atmosphere; and the texturing on everything (except for a few faces) is incredible.

Look at the details, and you'll be impressed enough to want to play for hours each day.
Care about frame rate, changes to combat, and the many server/Uplay/Initiates blunders, and you'll want to put it down.

It still has unique AC-series gameplay in the best traditions. Moreover they returned classic stuff like medicine (instead of auto-regeneration) and you feel yourself playing first Assassin's creed with more modern graphics. It looks like restart of series, really good restart. You can say: "man, what about bugs crashes and fps!? Is it a lie or you just kidding us?" Well, I got this game in early 2015 and it downloaded about 6GB of patches. If that game really was unplayable, now it is not. The most fresh and impessive thing you can see there is co-op mode. No, not like it was in Black flag, stuff like "Find that guard on small map and kill him screaming DIE YOU MISERABLE GUARD". Real, real co-op. With real missions like you play in single player. Incredible feelings. Also in this game you will find more customization options, there a way more weapons and clothings and now they have own stats, and really matter. You came with bad equipment to wrong district, start fighting with guards and boom, you are dead. No more terminator-stuff with hidden blade. Really good point. So, if you are AC fun and still thinking about buy or not this game, you are missing decent game, where low-fps ( rarely to be honest) and so called EVIL BUGS( which are mostly removed, I believe) really will not spoil your good impressions. I'm sure that if critics will play game again, they definitely change their rating to higher. Anyway, final choice is always yours, have fun. Expand

I don't get all of the hate this game is receiving. There are some sporadic framerate issues. I experienced most of them near the beginning of the game and haven't had a problem since. Not even in a late game mission where they was probably a good 1000 NPCs on the screen at the same time.

I also hear a lot about Arno being dull. I like Arno. He's basically Ezio. Yet Ezio was considered not dull and in fact most peoples favourite assassin. That right there is a contradiction. You like Ezio but hate Arno even though they have the same personality? Because that makes sense.

I also hear about the story being dull. It's one of the best stories an Assassin's Creed game has put together. I feel like Arno has a place in the plot and isn't just the player's surrogate being funnelled from one historic event or person to the next in Ubisoft's attempt to say "LOOK AT HOW MUCH HISTORY RESEARCH WE DID!!!"

Character customization is great. Arno feels more like your Assassin than any Assassin before him. You can actually customize him to fit your playstyle. It's great.

Did I mention that there's a sneak button now? That's right. You can press a button and sneak. No more walking around the open without a care in the world and hoping no one spots you. You can now crouch and walk quieter and even take cover behind low objects.

People say co op is dull. I played co op for about four hours straight with my friends. We only did two or three missions. The rest of the time was spent exploring Paris and helping each other find out how to get collectibles. Probably the most fun I've had playing co op in awhile.

The game is great. People need to pull their heads out of their asses and learn to actually appreciate good games like these. Sure it has some rough spots. But pretty much every major video game release does these days. Should this be acceptable? No. But it's not like this game is as badly put together as Battlefield 4. And it has about 100 times the content of Destiny.

And oh yes. A legitimate epic boss fight. Something the franchise has been missing since the beginning.

People saying this is the worst Assassin's Creed since AC1 should probably just stop playing the Assassin's Creed games. Because this is, in my opinion, the best Assassin's Creed since AC2.

    tl;dr

Graphics, gameplay, co-op, story, customization are great. Has some rough spots that can be patched out. Don't believe the haters that need every game to be a masterpiece to enjoy it.

Co-Op is a welcome, if imperfect addition (I preferred the stealthy 'heists' to the all-out fight-fest of the other modes). The gameplay is much better than AC4 and Rogue as is the story. The story is far more focused on Arno and his relationship with Elise than the assassins. The revolution setting is good but also seems like it missed some great opportunities with the story so heavily focused on the young couple and their personal quest.

The two bugs that I encountered where when performing drop assassination Arno would simply drop onto the target then get up without performing the assassination, the other was him not being able to attack, parry or dodge during combat which could be undone by going completely anonymous. I came across both bugs fairly often.

The skillpoint system mostly requires you unlock abilities that where a given or earned early on in past games and seems like a missed opportunity to add in some true innovation to the assassins abilities. Scattering points around coop maps to be found seemed silly and a way to force players into making use of the multiplayer mode.

The paris stories and murder mystery side quests are good and welcome addition instead of just the plethora of collecting items that was stuffed into the last few titles in the series even though those collection items are still present.

Overall I would say after the patching this is the best in series since Brotherhood, the writing is far better than Ac3,revolution,4 and Rogue. Arno and Elise are the best characters of the last few games and I hope they make a return to the series.

    Assassin’s Creed Unity.
    A fresh new start
Assassin’s Creed Unity tells the story of Arno Dorian.
Some spoilery stuff happens and he becomes an assassin out to avenge.
While the story may seem familiar at first, I found it to be very original and personal.
It was refreshing to have a character that feels real rather than a larger than life hero like past assassin’s creed games, it’s just a shame that the character development isn’t there to make the emotions feel as real as Arno does.
Due to complaints of Assassins Creed 3, ubisoft seem abit afraid to let you see a character grow and evolve.
The story skips ahead too quickly and doesn’t allow you to dive too deep into character development,
Arno’s careless and selfish, he has a crush, but it all feels preexisting. The story feels very set up rather than natural and flowing, but that didn’t take away the fact that I still cared about Arno and the outcome of his tale.
Set up is the ultimate downfall of the games 12 hours campaign.
While they have the graphics down to make cut scenes and the in game engine look nearly perfect, the flow that previous games had is missing.
It very rarely feels like the world around you is alive during the main story missions.
You don’t get to a spot to see things in action, you get there and the action spawns.
You don’t see it spawn, but your 6th sense can just feel it spawn, you can feel that it waits on you.
The campaign has an intense emphasis on stealth.
Like Assassins Creed IV, the campaign here seems to follow the same pattern of mission structure.
Rather than tailing, this time you do a lot of sneaking and infiltrating.
Luckily unlike Assassins Creed IV, Unity does a great job of hiding the repetitiveness, every mission though nearly identical objectives always contain different approaches. Never making you feel like you just did this even though you pretty much did.
I really hope that the dev team is just trying to show off the new stealth mechanics and AI as much as possible, and that this isn’t a structure staple of future games.
Optional objectives are back, just now disguised as quote unquote challenges and sometimes seem pointless and annoyingly impossible to do, not because they are, but because you feel crippled after being so used to whistling to attract guards and having infinite eagle vision.
it’s really hard to manipulate the environment in unity compared to past games which by itself I don’t mind that much even though it gets annoying when you are tasked with taking out more than 5 targets, and when optional objectives are thrown in like hiding spot kills is when I really start to mind,
All you can do to luir is use a cherry bomb, but even then it just alerts guards and thugs, they won’t actually move to the spot to check things out.
The entire stealth system lacks flow.
Trying to take cover doesn’t work half of the time, it’s hard to leave cover and stay crouched to prevent detection from the spidy sensed enemies, it’s all just very awkward.
Assassins Creed Unity does do a wonderful job of pulling you in though.
I was massively impressed with the opening of Assassins Creed unity.
I forgot I didn’t live in 18th century France for the first 30 minutes of the game, and then I try to open the first chest I find and POW smacked with play some mission in our companion app, so I take out my 21st century cell phone and lose all immersion instantly.
Sure I love the idea of unlocking things for my character while I’m on the go, but I don’t want to be smacked with locked chests that force me to use your apps and websites.
Keyword there is force, I liked the app, it grew on me, but it should be optional.
Especially when they don’t work half of the time like initiates.
They should be used as an opportunity to continue your quest away from the game, not force fed if you want to fully clean your map and there is a lot of map cleaning to do which for the first time since Assassin’s Creed 3 I can actually appreciate.
Collectibles such as chests in Assassins Creed Unity are useful again as there aren’t many ways to make money in the game outside of quests for the first half of the game, they will keep you in Unity’s world for a good 10 plus hours by themselves, finally immersing you in the assassin’s creed universe again unlocking weapons, outfits, and upgrades.
I went into unity not expecting much, I heard nothing but bad things and I admit when I actually got into the world I absolutely hated it, but I paused for a moment to find why I hated it.
The game was frustrating to me. The button layout has changed, double assassinations had to be unlocked, eagle vision needed a cool down, I was dying almost instantly when I would get into fights.
But the truth that I found is that I don’t hate Unity. I hated change, I hated that the comfort and familiarity I was used to was gone.
This realization turned that hate into appreciation and love.
It reminded me of playing Assassins Creed Revelations again.
In my memory, Revelations was the most immersive game I’ve ever played and the hardest Assassins Creed games I ever played, It was also my first. I felt like I had to pick that game apart for it’s best weapons, I had to pick my fights and master it’s combat, this is exactly what Unity was for me.
It was like playing the series for the first time all over again.
Assassin’s Creed unity has scrapped the familiar combat system, to make it immersive, rather than swift and satisfying, which some may love and others may hate.
I personally hated it at first.
I hated going into a 5 diamond difficulty district and getting killed in 2 to 3 hits when enemies there needed nearly 20 hits to die.
Combat is now, attack, perry, and doge.
    It’s fun, but not perfect.
I often found myself not getting credit for perrys and for some reason the developers thought it would be a great idea to get rid of human shields.
The only way to not get shot now is to roll around in the dirt, and even then it isn’t a guarantee.
The enemy ai in Unity are ridiculously accurate.
They are hashtag hacks, aimbot noobs.
The gun play ruins the combat and makes it feel cheap. Enemies essentially get automated assault rifles, and despite seemingly having endless clips, never have ammo or medicine on them when you loot them which makes combat even more frustrating.
Money is hard to come by, and you’ll find yourself drinking down medicine like water and emptying your barrel like you’re in a western show down.
It’s annoying to have to find a shop to refill these vital consumables as they seem to be extremely rare to find on a body which makes no sense, and again money is hard to come by during the first half of the game, so it sucks having to sacrifice upgrades to prevent such quick deaths on medicines to keep you from desyncing. These no scope snipers will hit you 99% of the time, even when you are moving and dancing around like a madman making the customization that much more important. For the first time in Assassins Creed history, you have individual articles of clothing that can boost your health, stealth, melee, and ranged attacks, you luckily don’t have to choose one or the other. As long as you are anonymous you can freely swap clothing to prepare for a specific approach you plan on taking for a mission. If you want to sneak around, max out your stealth and ranged attacks. If you want to go in swords swinging, balance your melee and health, if you aren’t sure, balance all 4. I love the addition of this system, and I love working to unlock everything But even when I upgraded myself to a level 4 out of 5, I found myself the victim of many cheap deaths even in 3 diamond districts. It wasn’t until I finally had all legendary gear that things started to feel fair and balanced to me. Around the city, there are of course collectibles as I mentioned, but a world that almost feels alive. Assassins Creed got the city right in Assassins Creed through Assassin’s Creed Revelations, but from 3 onward something changed. The crowd no longer reacts to you, but rather moves around you. They aren’t calling you names, running up to you or throwing rocks at you as they were in the past, they are having their own conversations and are randomly getting robbed and ganged up on. The crowd immersion has improved in unity since AC3, but hardly. Immersion to me is being noticed when I arrive, not just when I run into someone. Sure that sounds narcissistic, but when you’re the protagonist, pack the narcissism on. It kind of brought me back to the Call of Duty Ghosts demo when they bragged about the fish moving when you got close. This is what Unity’s world feels like. Artificial triggers. Where the city really starts to come alive is with its side content. Other than being the batman of Paris, you can also be the Sherlock Holmes of Paris by solving murder mysteries that pop up on the map as you run around. I really enjoyed my time with these missions. You search for clues with eagle vision and carefully listen to conversations until you believe you’ve gathered enough information to rightfully accuse who you believe the perpetrator is. These murder mysteries were some of my favorite side missions in gaming history. If solving murders isn’t your thing, there are about 70 Paris story missions scattered throughout the map that all tell individual stories, some pretty interesting and crazy. A lot of wild goose chasing, but they are fun to run through and learn about the strange things going on throughout the city, this is where you really get a feel for the revolution going on around you. There are also mind numbing Nostradamus enigmas, that give give clues to locations in the game to find armor pieces. Many will find the difficulty of these riddles frustrating and annoying, but I appreciate the task at hand. Many if not all will have you searching the internet for their meanings. Assassin’s Creed Unity is a game that will last you a while. I know that frustrates a lot of your that just want to pop in the game and have everything by the end of the week with little to no effort, but unity will not allow this, prepare to do some work and research if you want to fully complete this game. Unity of course also features a co-op mode where you can play missions with up to 3 other people or alone. These missions consists of heists and regular missions. All for the most part follow the formula of the main campaign. Choose your approach and get the job done with your friends or randoms and as expected, your pairings will really make or break your experience with co-op. Not everyone takes bonuses and completion as serious as you do. , there are also clubs to join, club mission to complete and solo club missions that will have you running around taking care of the crooks in Paris. All in all, Assassin’s Creed Unity will give you a great 50 to 100 hours of game play easily if you plan on doing everything there is to. While many hype reviews may have been let down which ultimately effected their score, I’m not a hype reviewer and hype didn’t effect mine. This is my first review, and first of all sorry for my English.
This game is great! Its maybe the preetiest and biggest Game on the Assassins Creed Series.

The City is very life-ful and the capabilities are immense. You can feel the Revolution on the Streets of Paris.

The Story is nice and the character's are power full and full of Emotions.
It's looks very good and the 30fps is great and enough for a assassins Creed !!

But one thing is very annoying. The pop-ups !!
The NPC will appear after 30 meters and 4 meters in front of you, the clothing changes. The streets are very crowded, I think that's the problem. From time to time you have FPS dips, but this is very rare!

But overall, you get the feeling that is not fully developed the game. It definitely still needs a patch to come.
    But 6.9 is DEFINITELY undervalued.

    Best Regards!

A classical AC, way better than last 2 America's Black flag (this is great news!)
AC Unity brings a top-notch atmosphere and decor of Paris, so it's 10/10. Graphics 9/10. From the history point of view, I'd say 8/10 or 7,5/10 (I didn't finish it). Controls 8/10.
Definitely a 9! And I didn't even played CO OP! So it all comes down on what you are looking for: 1. If you are looking for a

    1. If you are looking for a all NEW & revolutionary game, Unity has no new mechanics or moves (a no).
    2. If you are looking for a great AC game, environmental immersing, rich with top atmosphere and scenarios, (yes, Go for it!)

There may be some bugs, but the gameplay itself is really good and I haven't had any problems with this aspect of the game at all!
The graphics are also outstanding and gives a true next gen look, despite some glitches.

This is one of the best Best game of the frenchise. The graphics are truly next-gen and gorgeous looking . Very Good 9 Expand

I'm a fan of Assassin's Creed, I loved Unity. Arno is a funny and good character, he remind me of Ezio. There are a lot of bugs in the game, but if you are really a fan of AC you should like the game. I recommend it to all of you, fans of AC.

I've played at least 10 games for the PS4 since its launch last year, and this is the ONLY game that feels truly next-gen. The environments are utterly jaw-dropping, the graphics are possibly the best I have ever seen, and the historical context is accurate, beautifully-rendered, and totally immersing, right down to the last detail. Climbing on top of rooftops has never been so satisfying. Assassin's creed Unity is definitely the best game of the franchise. I think the hype of the game was so high that when it came out people wanted it to be perfect. But lets be honest, the only near perfect game may be The Last of Us Remastered. But lets be honest, the only near perfect game may be The Last of Us Remastered. So far I've tried both the campaign and the Co-op multiplayer and I'm having a great time. Sure the cover system and the climbing doesn't always work but it definitely works most of the time. It is a very complex system that will take time to perfect. When the system works, which it does most of the time, it feels awesome and looks awesome expolring Revolutionary Paris. Jumping and climbing look very smooth, although sometimes hiccup. However, I really am enjoying and utilizing the new climbing down system. To get down from a building I don't have to jump into a pile of hay. The new stealth system, although not flawless, really gives the assassin's creed game meaning. After all, stealth was always the key part of these games but never had a clear system until now. It definitely takes some getting used to and doesn't always work. The graphics in this game are amazing. Everybody is freaking out about the frame rate issues. I've only had a few issues so far and of course ubisoft will fix this issue since so many complaints were made. This game, although did not live up to the perfect score hype, is an entertaining game. I strongly recommend playing the game if you have the balls to overthrow the critic reviews. Expand

Throughout the game, there was hardly any frame rate issues with a few rare ones here or there. The story is great and I didn't experience any major glitches during my play through. Probably my third favourite assassins creed game so far.

An excellent and huge game. The positives are emphasized by detailed world that seems more alive now than ever before.

Unity is not a bad game, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it advances the series very much, especially for the first title in the series to be a fully next-gen game.

Bugs really throw Unity under the guillotine. [Jan 2015, p.78]
