It's assassins creed so basically it's the same as every other assassins creed game that's gone before or after. Hand to hand combat is still meh .If you ever wanted to visit London then this is for you.

    Para mi es una decepción.

Syndicate is another game made in haste, by the famous ubisoft. The Game has two playable characters and none of them captivated me enough for me to feel empathy. both are shallow and only do what they are told to do. There is nothing good about this except the setting, at least for me. When walking around gets boring, it´s very unfun to do just about everything. The setting is my favorite in any AC game, I loved to get to be there, a shame it was wasted by this game... and this franchise.

The negatives: there's plenty of story potential that goes untapped, the twins' relationship is hardly covered at all, there is still lots of busy work, some of the missions towards the end get fairly flat, the story doesn't really build to anything memorable and the villain is incredibly amateur (he runs London, yet at no point does he do anything to wrest back control!). A solid 7 - I enjoyed it but there's so much untapped potential in the AC series. Expand

I am a big (and loyal) fan of this franchise - though I am not a fanboy. I do admit that the AC franchise is tired, filled with mistakes, hypeless, not hopeless, though. Ubisoft biggest mistake is to release a game every year. No matter how good they are, people just don't care anymore.

Which is a shame, because, let me tell you: Syndicate is an INCREDIBLE game and a true homage to what the game (and the series) once was: a historical experience, where you have a city as your playground, just like Ezio did, back in the day. There is no **** this time; no multiplayer nonsense, no companion APP. Just you, the city, its characters. And a great story to write as you traverse Victorian London's corners in search for its secrets.

And the additions to the tired formula are also fantastic. First a grappling-gun (like Batman's) that makes climbing (and killing) fast and sweet. And the 2 protagonists, the Frye twins, are a joy to play as. Jacob is a brawler, while Evie is a thinker and this combination of traits results in a lot of great moments, different (ish) gameplay styles and funny banter.

Sidenote: the game is stable, the missions are incredibly well designed and the game is not riddled with bugs, like Unity. To be honest, the ONLY weird thing I noticed - during more than 20 hours playing - was a guy riding an invisible carriage. And that was all.

I loved this game, from start to finish. And it did give me hope that Ubisoft at least is listening to its loyal fanbase. Forget your prejudices, try to forgive Ubi's recent mistakes and play this game!

Assassins Creed Syndicate is the weirdest AC game so far, in that it doesn't feel like an AC game at all. You play twins this time around, idea of twin assassins is interesting but not explored in this game. Whichever character you choose it really make zero difference to anything. It'll force you to the specific character needed, but aside from a few missions, I didn't really notice much difference. It only really means you have to level up yourself, skills and weapons twice.
The idea is Jacob has slightly better for combat, hereas Evie has better stealth skills. However these are some of the last skills you get, so until that point there's no difference. Additionally from about level 7 combat is far easier for both due to the execute and mutilate skills for both, as well as more powerful weapons and better player health. So again aside from evie's invisibility I didn't notice a difference.

The game would've been more coherent with Evie oly, and honestly her abilities outweigh Jacob's.
Speaking of which, it's clear that Evie is modeled after and a reference to Eva Green. Looking at Victoria Atkin (Evie's model) it's clear there's little resemblance, but strong resemblance of Eva, also plot advancements further solidify the link to Evie Green.
I'm unsure why Eva. Perhaps they thought Eva was English (she's French). So it seems an odd actress to choose.

Unlike other assassins creed games, the present-day/Asbergo is mostly ignored and tacked-on. Aside from a very brief mention of it at the start, a single moment where you're pulled out for about 60 seconds, and a very awkward ending, you forget it even exists. The only dna/timeline-related plot going on is separate from Evie and Jacob, which I think is bad design.

One big change this time around is that enemies now have levels - signified by the floating numbers on them. This means you need to level up your weapons and character to have a hope in hell of surviving combat. This feels like the only reason to bother roaming the city. If you don't level up you will die because they are very difficult to beat, especially in groups.

AC: Syndicate has much more of a focus on "leveling up" and the arbritrary reason to "level up" is enemies all have levels, despite all the characters looking identical.
It's very difficult to defeat (or survive) enemies due to how hard combat is now.
This is much more tedious, not only is it a lot harder and much faster paced. But as enemies have levels, you must level up fast to have any chance of taking on a group.
You can no longer just attack and counter with the traditionally large counter windows, but now combat has combos, you must also execute finishers with triangle, and also counter gunfire with triangle all whilst breaking defenses with x in a much more frequent basis than previous games. Timing windows for counters are incredibly low, by default almost non-existent, so upgrading the perk for a larger windows is a must. Plus health is very low in AC, it takes a lot of leveling up to get health to a bearable level.

This makes the game very grindy, you have to grind up the level to have any chance of winning fights in crowds, and without the darts and a de-emphasis on stealth, it means brawling is very important in this game (hence the changes in mechanics).

Speaking of grindy, Syndicate has an E-store to buy game currency or resources with helix credits, which are found with a lot of grinding, or bought with real currency. the in-game menus even equate credits to how many hours of grinding you'll save. This made me want to quit playing more than any Assassins Creed game I've played.

Missions aren't fun: in AD:S I found no missions actually fun, there's a ton of investigation type missions and they're far less enjoyable than before. it seems ubisoft decided to make investigations a big part of syndicate due ad they're worse than in Unity. Another common mission type is "kidnapping" enemies. Which is very dull. Find an enemy in a stronghold, then grab them and run back to a point with them. You can throw them in a carriage to transport them faster. Either way you'll be fighting enemies or crashing enemy carriages. It gets old quick.

I'm glad Syndicate brought back the rope launcher/zipline tool, which is the first time since Revelations. Initially I thought this was a cheap idea copy but as London rooftops vary in height so much, I ended up using a lot, so appreciated its inclusion.

Death sequences are more jarring now.
Subtitles are tiny! With no option to change size. Music bland.

Game completely froze and locked up many times. Also due to an unfixed bug I cannnot complete the vault. There's many reports of it online.

I had low hopes due to how poorly the story was told throughout but the ending is just shockingly terrible. Story-wise and execution-wise.

However, this is an Ubisoft game so the map is absolutely packed with pointless collectables and boring side quests. I know you don't have to do them but I'm something of a completionist and also you need to do a certain amount to level up enough to be competitive.

If Assassin's Creed Syndicate was more focused with a smaller map and less distractions this would have been a very good game. instead you spend 90% of your time clearing the map of random things and when you come back to the story you've forgotten who you're helping and why. Less is more Ubisoft!

The game looks amazing probably the best looking game of the year i`m running it totally maxed out everything on Ultra and top setting with 2x 980ti its barley getting 60fps at 1440p but with Gsync its runs very smoothly.

The biggest surprise for me is the combat and stealth actually really work well this time and the grappling hook makes the game so much more fluid and higher pace. Its still what you`d expect for a AC game but its the best one yet and i only planned to take a quick look at the game as i`m in the middle of Fallout 4 and ended up playing it for 18 hours in the last 2 days >.< ive never done that with a AC game before.

Its a great come back for AC and Ubisoft are back on form I hope there`s a ton of DLC cause this is by far the best open world city they have ever made the sound graphics and game-play are all not notch.

Jacob and Evie Frye are two of the most compeling assassin's the series have seen in a while. Gameplay wise, the game hasn`t envolved enough, only this time has been polished to a very solid state. I did not came across any bug or crash during my 60 hours of gameplay, and the framerate kept stable during 95% of my gaming sessions, and even when it dipped, it was barely noticeable.

Story is good, but nothing extraordinary, but this time it was presented on a more lighthearted way, and adding to that the music of Austin Wintory (Composser for Journey) surely gave this game a personality of its own, and sticks out among the series.

All being said, if you like Assassin's Creed, chances are you're going to like this game. But if you don't, i don`t see many things here that would make you think otherwise. But judging the game as its own separate entity, its good, entertaining, and beautiful to look at.

In a game where parkour around the rooftop is a major component of the gameplay, I think both new features feels out of place. Using the zip line and the carriage is the fastest way to move around London. Which is unfortunate because the parkour in this game is the best of all AC games. This game is a huge disappointment for me. The original Assassin Creed is one of my favorite game, because back in 2007 the game was innovative. Huge open world map with the ability to climb everywhere was new in the gaming world. However, as the years passed the same game is released every year without any major improvements. This tendency to use the old engine for years saddens me the most. It's not the ubisoft-only problem, for example 16-years old quake 3 engine in call of duty series and gamebryo engine used by bethesda for 9 years! I just want to say that it is time to move forward, and make something new.

Another Assassin’s Creed game that you can either buy or ignore sight unseen depending on whether you grew tired of the old formula. Some innovations (e.g. the grappling hook) are a welcome addition, some (like two playable characters and their development system) feel forced and not really thought through.
