I really struggle to give this more than 6/10. Its often compared to Unity as they were released around the same time for different generations, in this respect its better than unity and it has this AC heritage gameplay and feel to it with a lot borrowed from AC4 Black Flag but to call this a Remaster for this Gen's Hardware, not sure, it looks last gen to me. Overall its an enjoyable revisit of an AC that was a victim of Generation swap. Good news released at a budget price and discounted immediately. Expand

One of the most underrated Assassin's Creed title entries. What makes it stand out is an engaging plot developed around the rise of a Templar and his moral compass. This new perspective adds a fresh gameplay element of having Assassins trying to, well..., assassinating the protagonist. Also, there is no much present-day plot development, which is always a plus for me.

Apart from this, the gameplay is your usual one and the world can be exemplified by a standard ubisoftified map, with plenty of somewhat meaningless collectables scattered around.

Expand

First of all, there are the incredibly annoying bugs and glitches that occur while playing.A short example can be the main character just getting stuck,or enemies who do not die on the minimap, which can be annoying.I have also encountered sound issues,as well as issues regarding jumping, which can be a real pain sometimes, when the character chooses to jump somewhere else then you wanted.Weapons and especially gheir effects can be a little buggy also.
Regarding non-tehnical problems, the game suffers a lot from the lack of content. The story can be finished within a playing day.Afterwards, you are left to do a lot of going back'n forth along a million of bland, boring islands.Classic Ubisoft open world. If it is not radio towers it has to be view-points,so,except for some collectibles,2 type of missions you can encounter, some random events,a couple of legendary sea battles and a lot of exploring and capturing settlements there is nothing else to do.The mechanics are simple, and become repetitive and boring after a while, some time after the story.Personally,I would have liked more variety in regards of activities while at the helm, the addition of chainshots and maybe a set of missions which you can actually participate in,as in the sevsn years war in Shay's Fleet.
Although the game has some weak spots,it still remains essentially one of the best AC's out there, and you will not regret trying it.You get to see the world from the perspective of a templar, and fight assassins alongside a well-known and loved character in the series.Although short, the story is really strong and well made.Another strong point is represented by the ability to experience a non-tealthy approach,as you are playing a templar.Graphics are also important, giving the game a very good vibe, the world itself, especially the Artic region is gorgeous.
Although I reccomend you playing this,be warned,it is far from perfect,so try not to compare it to Valhalla or Origins. Also, personally,I would not buy this game for more than 10€.

I have to say, I really like that game. But the story is too short. This game had so much Potenial but it isn't that good. It could have been so much more but sadly it feels like a copy of Black Flag. 7/10

Good game. Not the best Assassin's Creed game but it's fun to play. It's interesting to play as a templar.

Was a good change playing as a Templar for once and I don’t understand the negative reviews. The game was a copy of Black Flag with a different storyline. Ubisoft could’ve improved on the storyline but apart from that, was an enjoyable game and I would plat it again. The optional objectives per mission were also very easy to accomplish.

Story wise is quite good but short. Thank God the present sequences are even shorter where you act as technician fixing some servers while solving some puzzles.
Apart for the main story the most interesting part is upgrading the Morrigan and conquering the different territories on the map, filled with a ton of collectibles.
The "remaster" itself it's kind of disappointing, it does not reach the 60fps even in PS4 Pro and has some of the bugs regarding trophies that the original had, so 0 effort on this side by Ubi.

I wasn't expecting to like this game as much as I did. The main character is interesting and the level design is better than expected.

i enjoyed being a templar and the whole being introduced into the brotherhood is the coolest part of the game. Honestly it is just a black flag DLC so if yo like that you will be fine with this. Icannot tell you a single thing that happens in the story because it is super forgettable and im sure i was forcing myself to play through the game because it was so boring. The truth is that I hadn't played an Assasin's Creed game for a long time, due to the amount of games that have been released in this saga, but I decided to try this one because it wasn't very long, and the truth is that it surprised me for the good, interesting story, the possibility of handling ships, the controls are quite fluid, in short, it's a good game.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is an often-overlooked entry in the series. It's a fun compilation of all prior releases, and it has a cool story and strong characters. Its remastered version, however, doesn't add anything significant and falls flat since it doesn't offer any improvements to Shay Cormac's Assassin/Templar story.

The visual rework may not be the best we've seen, but this 2018 Assassin's Creed Rogue edition is a true opportunity for all the players who missed the game in 2014.

As a jumping in point, it would be difficult to recommend Assassin's Creed Rogue. However, as a product in and of itself, it is a cohesive experience with hidden levels of depth and progression possibilities, backed by exceptional presentation values and fun fighting and seafaring mechanics. Completionists looking for an irresistible challenge and franchise fans who missed out the first time around will find a lot to love here.
