The Godfather: The Don's Edition

The setting is nailed down perfectly, and EA has taken care to get great voice acting and music.

You should only be considering the Godfather on PS3 if you haven’t played the game before since the new additions don’t drastically change the game. As another caveat, if you’re intrigued by the tilt functionality, you’ll find that motion sensitive controls are better implemented in the Wii version.

Graphical upgrades, adjustments to the combat system, new missions, and additional content (there are more warehouses, hubs, rackets and such) make it the version that offers the most bang for the buck.

The Godfather: The Don's Edition might be a last-gen retread, but for what it's worth, it's still one of the better titles available for the PS3 right now.

I will commend EA for not porting over the Xbox 360 version and just adding a fresh coat of paint. They went ahead and added new Blackhand moves, new executions, upgraded graphics, new side missions, and a host of many new features on your way to becoming the Don of NY.

An enjoyable game in spite of its lackluster graphics and tendency towards some repetitive gameplay.

Relatively good; on its own merits, not just because its set in the Godfather universe.

If you've never tried a Godfather game, the PS3 version offers the best of the bunch.

Even if you already own the game on your PS2, you may want to give it a second try. There is a lot more content here so the game will feel fresh. If you're a fan of the original game and are looking to keep the good times rolling or if you haven't played The Godfather before, The Don's Edition is solid. However, it may not be worth your $59.99, as the graphics are wholly unimproved.

The Godfather: The Don's Edition works a smattering of new content into the game with good results, but it's not quite worth another look if you've already played previous versions.

EA has done a great job of expanding nearly every facet of the game, and even though only a few of these additions change the game in major ways, the overall package is a good deal better. Still, with last-gen visuals, a frustrating city layout and other issues that plagued the original release, it's still far from perfect.

Although it’s fun to see alternate perspectives on some of the movies’ key events, this title really fails to deliver the complex, emotionally resonant familial saga of the films.

Extortions, scandals and corruption? For gameplay like this, I’m willing to dump the story and other problems in a trunk and fuhgeddaboutit.

The game experience isn’t all that far removed from the Xbox 360 version (to be fair there is a lot of new content that isn’t available anywhere but on the PS3), but it’s as good a game as any to pick up for PS3 owners starving for some valuable entertainment beyond SCEA’s first-party titles.
