  1. The area where the PS3 version of this game really impresses the most is in the amount of brand new content that’s been added here. There are nearly 30 new missions, 6 new vehicles, 7 new weapons and an impressive 25 new execution styles.
  2. Simply put, it's just not a "next-gen" title. But that doesn't mean it's a bad game. In fact, it's actually quite fun, and similar to "Scarface: The World Is Yours."

The Godfather: The Don's Edition doesn't feel next-gen. Even with the new additions, it plays like a PS2 game.

The best news to come out of all of this is the implementation of the Sixaxis: It's not overbearing or intrusive. For example, it only takes a few small gestures to bump someone against the wall. And that's about as extreme as it gets -- which is the proper way to handle the controls.

The Don should have done us all a favor and brought this game out for a budget price, because no matter how great the gameplay continues to be, yet another port of a game that has its mind and eyes clearly focused on 2005 makes for a poor excuse of a full-priced, next-generation title.
  6. A decent port job that adds enough to keep first time players entertained, but seasoned Godfather vets will probably stay away.
  7. The graphics look horrendous at ever[y] angle especially in HD and really made the entire game unplayable because I felt like my eyes were melting.

A game that's as easy to refuse as the Playstation 2 version was. [Apr 2007, p.86]

A port of the previous title from PS2 doesn't really have the next-gen punch you are looking for. [Apr 2007, p.58]

The Sixaxis implementation here is unnecessary. More damningly, the game is clearly not a next-gen product, visually.

The Godfather: The Don's Edition isn't as fun as "Crackdown" and no amount of celebrity voice acting is going the change that.
  12. Compared to "Saints Row" on the Xbox 360, The Godfather feels pretty dated. It just doesn't have the variety or presentation to match THQ's made for next-gen offering, with the driving being the biggest disappointment.

And since you're getting the same basic experience for the premium price of $60, there's simply no reason to buy this lackluster game. [May 2007, p.82]

Taking over businesses gets bring after a while but you can complete favors and hits on other families which makes it a bit better. But the graphics are just awful, unless you love the Godfather to pieces or can get it for cheap then just keep the Ps3 version. Full Review »
