    The single player is well paced and action packed enough to enjoy despite the lack of a strong storyline. The multiplayer is incredibly addictive. It's a skill based FPS and one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. There is a tough learning curve that is very rewarding once you master the controls, weapons, maps, strategies and ultimately other players in the online multiplayer.

    Killzone 2's campaign definitely could have used a stronger narrative, and the controls aren't as smooth as other shooters, but the campaign is a blast, the game is gorgeous, the multiplayer is engaging, and the overall presentation is phenomenal. If Killzone 3 can improve the narrative and mechanics to some degree, it will be the shooter to beat in 2011.

    Killzone 2 is a perfect showcase of the power of the Playstation 3. The single player is bold, and the multiplayer is ambitious. Both are very successful as well.

    Amazing multi player! People need to stop complaining and let the game stand on its own. Its not cod4, its not meant to be cod4, n if EVERY game were exactly like cod4 thered be no point for anyone to make any other fps's.     Killzone, although not perfect, is a fantastic game. The visuals are the hand down current champion in the console gaming industry, the score is perfect for the tone of the game, and the multiplayer is deep and challenging.

    This is the best FPS ever. dont listen to these whining Xbots . These BOTS never played the game . Killzone 2 makes any game on their console look like a wii game. KZ2 offers the best MP as well as the best SP experience. The online WARZONE is just a blast . The SP offers the most intense campaigns along with the hardest boss fights ever seen in a game.     This game looks awesome! I would say it's up to par with Gears 1 and 2. But the gameplay could be worked on a bit. It feels like you are moving in slow motion. The whole aiming scheme is just horrible it feels like you can't hit anything. When you jump it doesn't even feel like you are jumping, or when you run it feels so slow and awkward.     What can you say about a game that in all reality brings nothing new to the genre? You can say that it has perfected so many aspects of the typical FPS that it defies description, and that's not an easy feat! Did I say perfect? I think I did! Is it the same "save the world" type story? Sure. Still a FPS that tells you where to go next (take out that tank, go down that ladder)? You What can you say about a game that in all reality brings nothing new to the genre?     What a great game!!! Graphics are like none other you truly need to experience it for yourself to see what i'm talking about. Game play is excellent, very gritty and aggressive, has a very good pace. Online is the most fun i have had in an online FPS shooter, i won't be putting this one down for a long time to come.

    By sound and graphics alone this game deserves a 11/10 it is the best game to have ever graced a console to date. I care less about the story but the game play was very fun, specially the desert level with the bolt gun, best fun I've had since Goldeneye on the N64!. I LOVE the mech suit or Exo whatever it's called I hope to see it in multiplayer. The multiplayer just brought it By sound and graphics alone this game deserves a 11/10 it is the best game to have ever graced a console to date.     This quiet simply is the best mulitiplayer game i have ever played with amazing visuals and stunning audio(Surround sound turn right up) it's far better to any other game on the market at the moment. All i can say to the people who don't like it for what ever reason or find the aiming to difficult is to stick with COD4 or 5. ZZZZZZZ.     This game is easily the best FPS on PS3 the environments and character detail is amazing. But games are not all about graphics, some might say the controls are sluggish but I personally think they are perfect for a controller to get the right feeling of turning in the real world not as supermen turning at the speed of light as in most moused controlled PC games. The cover system is fantastic in single-player and although the gameplay is mainly cover-then-shoot then repeat the enemy's constant movement makes every situation fun to play thru time and time again. The multiplayer set-up is one of the best I've seen so far meeting up with friends in any game type is simple and quick the option of playing all game types in one round is brilliant as all skills are tested. There aren't many things i can say that are bad about this masterpiece except for 1.) The aiming system for the sniper rifle - using the six-axis is a bit corny and unnecessary as it just annoying not useful. 2).The damage that some enemies have to take is ridiculous, their humans not bugs off starship troopers ffs If you own a PS3 this game is a must!!!… Expand

    This game is the best looking FPS ive ever played or even seen. The only thing that doesn't make this title a bonified Halo killer is the lack of two player head to head. Come one, zero coop? For those who said the aiming was bad, no. It's just you suck at aiming. You may want to go into optionas and adjust your control settings...i cant wait for killzone 3.

You can actually feel the heavyness of your character unlike other FPS where you just feel like moving a camera around.     At first I thought this was just another stupid FPS but after 30 minutes, I knew I was dead wrong. The gameplay mixes your average FPS with other great elements. Xbox may have Halo but Playstation has Killzone.

    I know it's a bit late to review this game especially with the release of killzone 3 being very soon, but when i played this in 2009 it was outstanding. The graphics, campaign and multiplayer were some of the best I have ever encountered. If you love the FPS genre you will want to play this game because it's a refreshing change from other shooters.     Bought this game for $20, and the only thing I didn't like about it was getting my ass kicked on elite difficulty or online. The controls aren't for everyone, but they add a new and interesting approach to gunplay that involves using your head more than you use the fire button. Some say that the game-play can be repetitive, but I strongly disagree. The game-play is dynamic in that your character is rendered in real time and the game will periodically switch to a third person perspective. Your character even emits his own shadow from multiple light sources which are also among the best lighting effects in the history of gaming. There are many different enemy types and each one can provide a tough challenge even on recruit difficulty. The impressive A.I. bounds from cover to cover and flanks you if given the opportunity. Any dissapointments killzone 1 had were fixed in this game. Possibly the best shooter sequel ever in terms of improvements in quality. In terms of graphics -well- what can I see about killzone 2's visuals that hasn't already been said. The visuals are simply phenomenal and the frame rests at a smooth 30fps while screen tearing is non-existent. The artful use of excellent cell-shading and textures are beautiful. Sadly, the game features no co-op but the campaign and multiplayer provide a great experience. The campaign stays true to the killzone storyline and does a good job of keeping the player interested. The Helghast have a more dramatic presence and the ending provides a nice cliff-hanger for a sequel. The story could have used more depth as we no relatively little about the Helghast and ISA motives for war but otherwise the plot is easy to follow and the voice acting is good. The multiplayer is similar to games like team fortress or battlefield as it focuses on classes. Good teamwork and diverse use of classes are the key to winning online. Dedicated servers improve the reliability of the game, and the maps are fun to play. All in all, Killzone 2 progresses the killzone series forward and is a worthy sequel.… Expand

Now I've been playing BF3, Crysis 2 on PC with max settings so I wasn't expecting much in the graphics department but I have never been so surprised before. This game looks amazing on my LG 55" LED tv. I also decided to play it with 3D turned on and woah. It's amazing.     So this leaves me thinking, why exactly do we desperately need a new generation of gaming platforms? What exactly will they improve so much to be considered "next generation"? The leap isn't that big looking at the new titles that will come out. Do we really crave those extra textures so much? Because that's basically what it adds, and less loading times perhaps. The lighting is already perfected in Killzone 2. Sure connectivity and online play seems to be the new thing that grants it the title of "next generation" but this could be done on current aswell.. The story introduces us to Sev the protagonist of the game and is the character likeable yes he is, Rico, Templar also return in K2.     I enjoyed playing Killzone 2, the graphics are really good and the multiplayer online is awesome, I do however, dislike them fact that some players glitch into the surroundings, and can kill you, but, you not them :/ that aside as I don't cheat, I enjoy it :p

    Story mode is great as well, just a good shooter up :D

    "Killzone 2" es un first person shooter con una historia, si bien no es muy original, pero su acción sólida y sus gráficos superiores lo defienden que da gusto. Este título es un logro tecnológico y actualmente tiene uno de los mejores multiplayers que he jugado. Si no lo han jugado les digo que les espera mucha acción y diversión.

The game looks beautiful, but it has an awful lot of brown and orange. The controls are loyal to Killzone but it does take some getting used to especially the melee. The story is very well written and shows that the HelgastKillzone 2....Highly hyped and highly anticipated. Does not disappoint either. From the moment you start this game up it makes you feel like it's a real war going on. The game looks beautiful, but it has an awful lot of brown and orange. The controls are loyal to Killzone but it does take some getting used to especially the melee. The story is very well written and shows that the Helgast aren't just alien they're also human. The voice acting is very well done and the sound effects will shatter glass with surround sound on. Shooting gets a little annoying since the crossair dissapears the longer you shoot and your bullets become more inaccuarte but you'll get used to it and that's not a problem in multiplayer. Oh yeah, the multiplayer. When I had my choice of Call of Duty or Killzone 2, I chose Killzone 2. It is just THAT much fun and easy to get into. It has a lot of traditional FPS MP modes only renamed and retweeked. An overall incredible package that no shooter/ps3 fan should dare miss out.… Expand

    killzone 2 was so great because it had that authentic vibe to it. It was that one out of 100 games that feel like it was already a classic even though you first got it. cant believe i sold mines. need to get another copy asap.

Where it falls down a little is on the story front for me, I didn't feel the characters were that great (a little too stereotyped for my liking). The ISA (the team you play as) didn't have much going for it to make you really like them and the story was all pretty simplistic. I did like the Darth-Vader inspired bad guy Radec and his clearly Nazi inspired chronies however, their red faces contrasting to the general greyness of the game looked really bad-ass. That's another topic worth mentioning, the game is very grey, a little more variation in the levels would have been nice.
    Overall this was a hell of a lot of fun, with amazing gameplay but falls short of being great because of the simplistic unengaging story and generally forgettable 'good guy' characters.    … Expand

    The game is amazing the bosses really difficult to passing through! I like the game highly recommend so far this game is the best of Killzone's out there! Maybe in the future I will update this review if they come up with something better than Killzone 2

If anything else its exteremly engaging, graphically stunning, the wepons give you a sense of alccomplishment when you kill your enemies, and the enemies in of themselves are talented fighters who are very nicely done game. If anything else its exteremly engaging, graphically stunning, the wepons give you a sense of alccomplishment when you kill your enemies, and the enemies in of themselves are talented fighters who are a force to be reckoned with through every part of the game. I'm not the biggest FPS shooter fan, but having played resistance 2, COD4, COD5, Rainbow 6 2 and others, this is without question my most favourite. COD4 meets Halo with a touch of the strategy found in raindbow 6 makes this a must play for those who want to see the playstation 3 live up to all its expectations. Xbox360 beware, you do have mighty impressive games such as GOW2 but, this is something to give it a run for its money (which is more...) wicked game. Good job.… Expand

Graphics are out of this world, the sense of fighting against a ruthless enemy in a very hostile world is overwhelming, the atmosphere is dark and moody, and the AI is cunning .     For me not scoring a massive 10, its nearly perfect in every aspect, except for one i cant put my finger on.     The story has been great so far, graphically its stunning and the physics work as they should, just like real life objects. The MP badges system its deep and the maps are great, combining tactical and gun and run.     For all the hype generated for this game, I was fairly disappointed in the game's controls which feel spongy. The controls are not as sharp as you'd expect from a top rated FPS. And why do games insist on "reinventing" control layouts.     Does not live up to the hype! I was really, really looking forward to this game. The graphics are good and that's about all that stands out. Very slow aiming re-action time, 2 second pauses in gameplay every time the game loads, hardly any variation in the enemies and quite a dull story line.     This game really shows off the power of the PS3. I'm always excited to see new games by Naughty Dog and Insomniac. I was skeptical about KZ2 being awesome but it totally exceeded my expectations. Guerilla Games have established themselves as one of the best developers. Gears 2 is as good as things are going to get on the 360.     and all of you who are saying oh no i cant hit him with my gun the controls suck then that just means u arnt very good at aiming. I personly have no problem with it.

    I havnt played the story yet but the Online alone is worth 60$. Epic fun and well balanced classes. The thing that i love most about this game is: It takes skill. You wont succeed if you camp, the lack of auto aim is also a plus and best of all: you cant throw grenades 2000 feet across the map!

    Stunning game. Ranks up there with Call of Duty 4 for the title of best ever FPS ever made. Co-op mode would have been a great addition as you spend most of the game working with a team mate. But other than this It is truly stunning game.

There's never any variation; there's no way to really change what has already happened and call your game a "WW2 Sim". Now, what's wrong exactly with Killzone 2's storyline in similarity? Isn't this story EXACTLY the same thing? Country (in this case, another planet; Helghan) invades another country (also in this canse, another planet; Vekta), tries to take over because they were agitated / annoyed / pushed too the limit / feeling oppressed / find themselves inheritantly superior / the people they're invading are the 'real oppressors'. Invaded country holds off as long as possible before finally pushing invaders away. Invaded now become the invaders. New invaders do what they went to do, but get stomped in the process. Ladies and gents; this is a war game. If you don't like war, this isn't for you. This game is what all war games dream to be, just in year 4010. The gameplay is extremely immersive, the level design in singleplayer and multiplayer is not only intense, but never boring, and the animation / graphic / sound performance is unparalleled. Where in the Halo franchise, I felt like i was playing something akin to a cartoon with guns, with this I feel like I'm in the middle of a war. And I freaking love it. It's a top notch game with better multiplayer than I've ever been in. It's not gimped to the point of being an entirely new game - everything is exactly the same, except for the removal of cover-taking, which is a bonus to forwarding gameplay. Love this game, will likely play it for as long as the servers are up. Which I predict will be up until Killzone 3 is released.… Expand

The story is simple, the boss fight just tedious and nothing new. The graphics might be excellent, but I didn't notice with all the motion blur, screen shakes and clutter (smoke, blood, dirt, etc) obscuring the view. I felt that the I am disappointed. The graphics in the game are incredible in a way that few other FPS's could do but it still lacks something. The characters movement is stiff at times and the transitions between cutscenes and gameplay are way too obvious. The dialog is absolutely terrible, the worst part of the game. The story is like world war 2 in the future where the helghast are some kind of space natzis. The online is where the game shines the most, as the core gameplay is at it's best online. The maps aren't huge but they are smartly built. Every part of the map is usefull for tactics and you'l find yourself enjoying these maps a long time. As the third game came out, being almost identical to it's predecessor, it's allways nice to remember this game. Killzone 2 is truly great, it's not incredible nor anything unique, but it does it's job well enough and in the end of the day, I'm not complaining.… Expand

    The story is only OK but the graphics are great! It's set at a pretty fast pace, so there isn't always time to really get a chance to see some of the finer details that are there.
    This one takes place on Helghast and is absolutely better than the original Killzone, which in my opinion simply hasn't age well, but that's understandable given the big difference between    A really great FPS!

    The voice acting is so bad it's great & the Helghast got to keep their over-the-top 80s arcade-game voices which I found so hilarious in Killzone.
    If you enjoy blowing off steam by playing FPSs then ignore the haters and make some time for this game.

Every game I play never gets old. Love the custom games! You want to play pistols only match? Check, 30 min warzone mission objectives? Check. Hate rocket launchers and want them removed? Check.     Rent it for 7 days but definitely I'll buy it. Great FPS! It's not a difficult game, final boss is a joke (in normal mode), it's short and a bit repetitive but you'll still get a great experience. Among greatest FPS. Multiplayer game is excellent. Story is ok and graphics are pretty nice. Buy it!

    Very good game, though I have not played the first Killzone, but I guess it should not be a problem for FPS. This game gave me many "Whoa!" and "fxck yeah" moments. All I can say is, this is a very well-crafted game. I prefer this more than resistance. PS3 owners should play this!

    it's brilliant . doesn't have a deep story , or super smooth gameplay , but there are other games that do , KZ2 is different , Killzone 2 gives you a gun , gives a few hard enemies and tells you to unleash hell . it's fun , it's raw , it's on the money and it's the best Killzone game and one of the best ps3 exclusive . this game defines the soul of gaming to the point

This game actually changed some things with the FPS and had amazing graphics, lighting, physics and animations, especially when you shot someone i loved how they reacted, Awesome art, I love the city of helghan going through the alleys and seeing amazing detail a lighting and thunder and sound and debris and shadows. They even threw in some innovative ways to kill mini bosses. The multiplayer was awesome. This was an amazing game, and had it been a little more seamless, with better bosses, and better story this would have been a 10. Another thing that was impressive was the destruction of environments that it had. I was absolutely amazed at this game, I felt like it almost had it all. One point that was distracting though now that i remember was the animation when you hit something like a button or whatever, the camera would jerk you and it didn't feel very fluid.… Expand

    I like this one. Ai is some of the best ive seen on a console. My buddy doesn't like the weapons. He say hard to aim. I say go back to ur duty head least they're closer to realism. I say lets see u run around with a gatling gun like ur holding a glock9. Dont ask me about multiplayer dat stuff just isnt 4 me.

    My first game of Killzone that I played. The campaign is brutal and the graphics are so realistic. The multiplayer has 32 players in a match with a lot of game modes and a variety of class like Battlefield. One headshot with any weapon = one kill. Is simply perfect.

    This game kinda lived up to the hype, great graphics, intense almost all of the time, but it does not bring anything new to the fps genre go there shoot that and move on but thats not a bad thing, the controls do take awhile to get use to but use the 2 one not the default . mp is fun but the spawing points need work. its worth a buy if you have a ps3

The BEST FPS game this gen, A little underrated too, i mean how can a game like this get an 7 or 8 while a **** game like call of duty gets a 9 or 10 , believe me.. you MUST buy this game.. Highly detailed environments with amazing lighting and excellent sound make the levels come alive. Cons : Corny dialogue. Controls feel somewhat sluggish and will take some getting used to, but by no means do they break the game. Lack of Co-op. A lack of a cooperative mode was a slight disappointment, an already amazing single player campaign would've been a blast to play through with a friend or two online.     A solid 8. The first Killzone is one of my favourite games of all time so I may be a bit biased. The MP is where the sequel really shines. The campaign is pretty fun but the story is lame, the characters shallow and the dialogue is beyond bad. Plus, there's nothing here you haven't played before.     The BEST FPS on the PS3. PERIOD. I own both Resistance 1 and 2, Bioshock, Half-Life: The Orange Box, and more..and Killzone 2 blows them away!
    If you're a PS3 owner, you need this game to show to you all your friends. If you're a FPS fan, you need this game.

I played this after Halo 3, Gears of War 1 & 2, and of course the COD Modern Warfare. The initial cut scenes have some great graphics, but the overall game play is pretty lame. Extremely linear... The single player is more than satisfying, BUT the multiplayer is just something that will knock you out. I fell instantly in love with the whole game.     It is a great multi-player game. I think that network hit detection is one of the best I ever seen. If you go face to face with someone you and both of you shoot each other at the same time both will die. That just does not happen often in other games. I think that time to kill is about perfect.     Add to this a good set of well designed maps, several fun modes, ability of users to create your own custom online games, password protected games. You can play against AI bots and with AI bots and you can invite your friends to AI bot game as well.

    The single player story is fun. The end game fight is not fun and feels like a cheap way to make battle tough. If you read online on the final fight you will find that many people say the same about final fight.

    I have played major online shooter games:
    All of Call of Duty games starting with 4 (fun, but got worse with every release after CoD 4)
    Medal of Honor (crap) Resistance fall of Man (original). It is good, but it is not fun by now.

You combine this with great gameplay, realistic controls, a great clan and squad system, good physics, and you have a stunning multiplayer that will keep you busy for hours and days to come. You won't want to put the controller down. It's just that good. And yes I've played all the Call of Duties, but Killzone 2 I think is overall a better multiplayer.… Expand

    A great game and what's amazing is just how much the developers managed to improve from the first game. Which was not a bad game but at the time it seemed like a game that would not spawn a franchise but after this game you need to get ready for Killzone 3 and I myself cannot wait.

    This game is amazing, the sounds effects are incredible and the level of immersion is unmatched. Graphically, I've never seen anything like it on a console game. Gameplay takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've played an hour or so you realise it is top draw. I had heard the storyline was weak, however I found it solid and got engaged in the characters.     If the rating on this site can go higher than 10, this game would be it, the graphics are amazing, the moving is realistic, the gameplay is NOTHING like other fps's, in this game you have to actualy THINK. i do not know why people complain about the controls, you can change them to match CoD. This is the best game i have ever owned.

    This game is rock solid. The action is intense. The strategy involved is phenominal and not found in any other FPS I have ever played. I have been playing since the original wolfenstein. If you love FPS games, you will love Killzone 2. This game simply kicks ass. P.S. The single player was decent and had it's moments but lets be real, games these days are rated based on the multiplayer.

    Best PS 3 game. GFX are spectacular in single player smoke, dust, explosions, cut scenes and player/ai anamations the best ever. Multiplayer also fantastic classes range from engineer with auto turrets to sniper with invisibillity cloak. AND yes i am PS 3 fanboy 4ever.

    Great game but the controls weren't as tight as would be expected for the amount of development time.. I had to adjust the sensitivity to make up for the lack of accuracy ..but the graphics are excellent as well as sound. Gameplay is great and the online is up there with the best. Just wish the controls were more accurate.. I like tight fast controls in my FPS.

    I have not had so much fun with a console FPS in a long time. The online component is simply stunning and I have a feeling I'll be letting my XBL account deactivate because of this. With lack of a better ability to describe it this game is just that much fun and it amazing.

The only downfall I found from this was the lack of cut-scenes, most of it is all in-game speaking on what you're doing next then you're suddenly transported there. Online is where I think it shines. Frantic battles, chaos, grenades going off, ATACs shooting from above, turrerts from below, invisible snipers on your tail, saboteurs disguising themselves as your team, tactical insertion points..... its just amazing. Sure, the controls are a bit heavy, but give it a week. Once you get used to them, you wil love them. It lags noticably in the single-player story campaign and the controls can be quite cumbersome at first. But when it's all said and done the package is complete and hella satisfying.     Outstanding game. Was one of the most amazing gaming experiences in my life. You were thrown into a world of chaos and misery. Blood shed left and right. You felt like you were in the sh!t. The AI was very impressive and would say has set the new standers for a single player experience.

    It's true that Killzone 2 is filled with moments that can handily be described as inspiring awe. Each scene is incredibly well detailed, from the gaps in jerry-rigged cover points letting you sneak in a killing headshot to scarred and scratched textures, the planet feels entirely believable... Without a doubt Killzone fans, action and shooter fans of any stripe will instantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for best game of 2009. [Feb 2009, p.38]

    Killzone 2’s secret ingredient is the fluidity in gameplay that we have come to enjoy more than its graphical prowess or jaw-dropping visuals. And that’s what games have always been about... We're surprised to see Killzone 2 blows our expectations out of the water with a memorable SP campaign and a stellar MP component. To put it short, this game makes "Gears of War 2" look like a high school attempt at gaming and that is a HUGE compliment!
