But the setting is very dull and boring, telling the story in a comic type of way didnt pull me into the story and the story wasnt very intriguing as a whole except for the end. The music was,nt very good either although music for this game wasn't very important. The way the AI ran and acted was very goofy and can be greatly improved. The graphics are decent but again not the AI. and lastly every good action game needs good boss battles and this games boss battles were scarce ( like 3 ) and werent very good at all. The games powers, abilities and ending were the best parts and I hope the rest is improved for the next game. 8.5/10. Expand

This game must be great to people who loved the "variety" of missions in MMOs. This game must be great to people who loved the "variety" of missions in MMOs. (In fact, Infamous feels a lot like City of Heroes, with its handful of enemy clans and catwalks in the sewers missions.) Personally, I wanted to do more than just mash buttons; I seldom felt engaged with the story at all. Mostly I was just following waypoints.

The much-lauded moral choices are so blatant and black-and-white as to be laughable. You are explicitly prompted to choose the good or evil action. In addition, while there are some differences in the side missions, the power upgrades you receive, and the epilogue, there is really no difference in the storyline depending on your choices. In fact, the evil path oftentimes makes no sense.

Ultimately, though, the biggest problem is the gameplay. In addition to all the random glitches, like invisible barriers that prevent you from proceeding forward on seemingly flat terrain, cameras that move for no reason, and so on, much of the gameplay and control is poorly designed. For example, while in aim mode, the right stick is used to pan and tilt, but all but the basic attack are on the right face buttons, which means that you cannot aim and fire at the same time with anything but the basic attack. Oftentimes the supposedly more difficult foes are far easier to defeat than the random footsoldiers, frequently due to the fact that they are much larger and the aiming is so twitchy.

That said, it's not a bad game, it's merely mediocre. But it gets incredible reviews, and I really just don't understand why.

Didn't know what to expect stepping into this game. After about an hour of play I found myself seeking out the optional side missions to extend the game. Also...pretty cool that the player really struggles with the choice of whether to be "good" or "evil". A solid title that makes me long for part 2.

A surprisingly deep and addictive take on sandbox gaming. Plays well, tells a genuinely good story, and entices for a second playthrough. A bit glum and repetitious for its own good but overall, quite an enjoyable experience.

Infamous really blew me away with how fun it was to just run around the city climbing everything, leaping off the highest buildings, grinding on the power lines. TONS of fun to play. Graphically it is pretty good, although there are some problems (for instance as you ride along on the train there is a ton of pop in, and in spots there is framerate issues). Overall the game is really fun to play, hunting around for blast shards is lots of fun, and the 2 different endings gives it good replay value. A solid '9', and it gives me high hopes for the sequel. great game , i prefer the sandbox type games where you dont have to stick to a story line or be on a timer, played through the game as a good guy, however on the second run i played as the evil guy and it was alot more fun, the weapons were better as the evil guy as they did much more damage and it was easier to level up......

Great game here, you can spend all your playtime just rampaging through the city or just follow the excellent story quests. This is one of the few games that actually pull the GTA style openness while managing to remain fun and engaging.

Great game. Cole is an awesome character, and the story is great too. The gameplay is also well done, and the wide variety of powers to learn are all well executed and fun. The voice acting is stellar. The graphics are good. The only thing I was let down by was the ending but it was still a great game, and I can't wait for part 2.

But above all, running on buildings, throwing cars at bad guys and saving citizens is awesome. The only things keeping it from perfection, is a little repetitiveness and the electric only super power types. After beating the game once, as a good character, I never been able to make it to the end as a bad character. First of all, I felt bad killing the NPCs, witch isn't a bad thing, but I also felt bored pretty fast. So if you like sand box or super heros, or action/adventure games, inFamous is a great choice. Infamous is one of those games that's so fun that you can forgive it for all of it's flaws. It has a cool story and the navigation mechanics make it quite fun to leap around the city. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since I played Jak 3 for the Playstation 2. The game's problems come in small glitches. I'm unsure why they happen, but invisible walls pop up every now and then, and your dodge button is your "run to cover" button, so often has you simply putting your back up against a car instead of dodging bullets, but the gameplay is almost perfect parting these flaws. Every mission, and every power is extremely well designed. More problems come from the cut-scenes. The animations are fairly poor, and the voice acting at certain points seems incredibly rushed. However, Cole McGrath's voice (voiced by Jason Cottle) is brilliant throughout the game, and the comic-style sequences more than make up for the poorly animated in-game cut-scenes. Overall; the game has a great playing system, and great storyline, but there are a few technical bugs which do tend to annoy me. I'd give the game a 95%, which I should round up to a 10, but I'm not going to. Expand

There is also a mini-map on the screen at all time (in Batman you have to exit to a full screen map). The mini-map even shows outlines of the building shapes (very helpful), and uses up and down arrows to let you know if your objective/foe is above or below you. In addition to the story, there are optional side quests to keep things interesting. Although you can play through as evil or nice, there is nothing else in the way of replay value (aside from working towards trophies). The skills in Infamous were unlocked at a nice pace. I also liked that upon receiving a new skill, you were given a mission to complete so that you could get used to your new skill. Infamous definitely helped me improve my FPS skills with the PS3 controller (big change from mouse and keyboard!). Expand

He also gains powers which help him traverse through the whole city in the game faster, such as the induction Grind which lets him grind on rail tracks, wires and the like. I've been able to enjoy the game very much but there are a few problems with it. Like for example, the game has no new game+ option so you can't complete the game and restart from the beginning while retaining all your powers. After completing it you're left to explore the city and complete the side missions, get all the dead drops and blast shards, assuming you haven't done those before completion but most of the side missions aren't very fun and trying to acquire all the dead drops and blast shards get boring real quick. You play as solid snake soundalike Cole Mcgrath, who is apparently american even though his name is clearly irish.Anyway the idiot accidently blows up the whole city, after being given a package to deliver,in which he fails to notice is in the shape as a bomb. He gains superhero like powers from the explosion,in which you can decide whether to use for the good,or for the bad,in other words be a goody two shoes and help others,or be a selfish bastard and blast everyone and everything in your site. Its great that you have a choice, but what pisses me off is that what it means,is that you need to play through the game twice,in order to get the full use of the story. Which is ok for most gamers, but not for me,See i'm not a great gamer im ok,but im the kind that will die eight times in one mission, just to work out what to do,lets just say im a trial and error gamer. I love the story, especially the twist at the end when Cole turns out to be really a women....well there is a twist but not that. Its a bit of a wrong start for me,i call myself the HarshGamerCritic but the first review i give,i'm not harsh at all,oh well. One thing that annoyed me,is once you have saved the game whenever you put the disc in to play again, there's no start menu so it just loads from the ps3 main screen, all the way into gameplay, which i wasn't aware of when i played it for the second time,i put the game in the console, went to the toilet with the game manual since i was still getting used to the game controls,so obviously i was shocked when coming out of the toilet,to see cole getting his irish ass handed to him by a bunch of reapers. That's the only thing i can really moan about, well apart from Cole's fat annoying fat friend Zeke and his ugly girlfriend trish, who was unfortunately dropped from a high storey building by kessler,in which i could have saved her but why would i,its not like she even gave Cole any sex since the explosion selfish bitch. Not much to say about Infamous apart from,im sitting with my ps3 sixasis dualshock 3 controller in my hand waiting for Infamous 2 so hurry up SuckerPunch,i haven't got all year. Expand

9.5! In Hd this title really shines. Unlike titles like Prototype that have no substance to the atmosphere and look like they take place in a flat textured vacuum inFamous gives a better sense of distance and height than any other game I can think of. This game may not be the best looking, though the art and detail show a lot of love, it may include tons of bugs like lock up, clipping through, and a free floating frame rate. Graphically it is very impressive for a sandbox game. Pop-in is at a minimum, and is really only noticeable when you're riding a train at high speeds. Choosing to be good or evil is a satisfying experience, and doesn't change the overall story enough so that the much hinted-at sequel will suffer from the karma differences. Despite all this, inFAMOUS does have its issues, including occasional glitches. I once saw a Reaper (the first enemies you see) that was caught in a falling animation and just looped through the same fall over and over again. I also fell through the world one time, but it didn't have much of an effect on the mission since checkpoints are sprinkled around generously. I highly recommend this game. After finishing it with all side quests done and most skills unlocked (didnt get the melee because the lightning power is just so great i couldnt help using it) in ONE sitting, i went to bed, slept 6 hours, then started it anew going for evil. Writing this, all i can think about is how much fun this game has to offer, wich in my opinion is rare, as i find most game "entertaining" rather than "immensly fun" and i cant wait to dive back in Cole's shoes.Collecting "dead drops" add to the storyline in a unique and amazing way, blast shards arent a chore to collect unless you ran past every single one and want the trophy after you finish the game. What i do feel is missing on the other hand is the split in the story when you play as good vs evil, it doesnt really have THAT big of an impact on it, except for some parts wich i wont spoil, and playing evil, might not make a difference in a relatively "good" dialogue from Cole. But the sidemissions are relatively varied, as you get new ones from time to time, but the some goes on throughout the game wich can be a bit tedious (im looking at you "counter-surveillance) and i wish i could give a 9.5 because of that. But the game itself seems more about "here have these powers, now go have fun and do whatever you like" wich i found incredibly liberating, compared to games like gta iv wich gives you the same premise, but annoys the hell out of you with that god awful phone ringing all the time "where are you, get over there now, i have a job for you, bla bla bla". Then there are those who say "it sucks because after your done theres nothing else to do!" well how many games do you get lots of new content to do after you complete the game thats not repetitive and uninspiring? And should that Cloud over the fact that you just completed a game that had amazing gameplay, intuitive controls (ok so gliding should have been X+X so you could use lightning and such easier while flying) fluid storyline, amazing characters that really got my attention, i even stopped to listen to those propaganda shows on tv every time, great graphics, and inventive narrative? i rest my case Expand

The free-roaming is such a great feel, and with being able to climb buildings, jump across to other buildings, upgrade and gain new powers, it's a unique and fun game and kicks spider-man in it's behind! It has a great story-line that has a nice little twist which I only guessed right at the end of the game in the final boss battle. The fact that it has a morality rate (karma) of being good or evil will change the outcome of the game and changes your powers completely and makes you at least play the game twice to get a feel of being good and then evil. It's good how each karma status gives you different effects on your power upgrades, such as good being able to give you energy and health, and evil being more destructive. inFamous also includes a nice set of trophies that aren't silly things like killing 500 pedestrians and killing 1000 enemies, but more like completed all stunts and traveling on a train for 2km, etc. It also has trophies as you progress through the story line, a set for being good and set for being evil. I would say it only has one flaw, and that's not being able to go inside buildings, the whole game is set outside, but it would of been better to be able to go inside buildings and trash the place instead of just blowing up cars. I would have definately given this game a rating of 10 if it included being able to go inside buildings. Expand

I earned 100% twice in just a week and I found myself finding nothing else to do. There is a massive lacking to how your actions actually affect the city itself. At the most, the citizens will react to your karma, but the city will not change. This really disappointed me. Karma is also underdone. You can easily achieve max karma for either side within a few hours. Infamous is a very fun game for awhile but it lacks what a sandbox truly needs, plenty to do. Expand

Now I'm all set to play the whole game again on Evil and eagerly waiting any word on DLC or a sequel. I didn't expect so much from this game but it really delivered. There were things that could have made it better and have more replay value, but it was definitely great while it lasted. I really hope Prototype can at least be just as good if not better. Expand

Great graphics, great animation, great sound, great gameplay. in FAMOUS is the first open world adventure on the ps3 but already i think it tops GTA. The vast collection of moves and choices required to progress help to create this game what it is and the final relevation on both endings will leave you wanting more.

inFamous is amazing, every aspect is done masterfully by Sucker Punch. This is the most orignal super hero games to come out in a long time. (maybe of all time) You must buy this title if you own a PS3 now!

Not once did I think the game was getting too repetitive. Even though you go through the underground substations many times, you never get tired of it because each time you get a kick ass power. The graphics and cutscenes are completely amazing. I love the graphic novel style cutscenes. And the story of this game is beyond words. I have never bonded with a video game character since MGS4. You feel every consequence of the decisions you make. The emotional load you take when you decide to save or kill your girlfriend is incredible. You actually feel like you need to avenge her death if she dies.

While there are a few bugs here and there, it's nothing serious. The replay value of this game is mind-staggering, if you beat the game as a hero, you can play all over again as a villain and with a different story.

Looks okay, plays okay, but psychic enemies with perfect aim, almost boring powers with ludicrous limitations, and poor facial animation during 'talk' scenes bring it down hard to the level of 'crap original xbox game from 2000'.

Simply an outstanding game! Core gameplay, controls, movement, combat, and story (yeah, remember those?) are all a pleasure. Everytime I do a good deed, I look forward to reversing it when I play through again as evil ... Yeah, hows your boo-boos now beeotch!!

Great game overall, some bugs but they take from the innovative and new gameplay. Any reviews below an 8 are obvious bias. Great story-line, gameplay, and great graphics especially since its an open-world game.

Amazing game, there are a lot of missions to do but you can choose to stick with just the main missions. Lot's of power ups and powering up your powers. Graphics are an 8.5 at best but the game play makes up for it in gold. You can easily climb anything without fear of falling off and eventually fly! Reason for my giving it a 10 is because it's pure FUN!

Great game. Haven't yet completed, but have played enough to say that this is an amazing game. The only thing that keeps it from being a 10 is that there a lot of times when you really don't know what direction you're being attacked from if you're not paying close attention to the HUD. I'm doing a "Good" playthrough right now, then will do an "Evil".

Cole's powers are cool, the graphic novel cutscenes are stunning, the story is intriguing, and the city is alive.

Most importantly, the movement and combat mechanics are fantastic, while the firefights (and the starring role of electricity) are a true spectacle. In this game the city is both your playground and your plaything, and you'll feel like a bad-ass.

While not wholly original, the game's blend of open world ideals with superhero powers is done with a verve that’s unsurpassed, and the mesh of platforming and freeform combat is uniquely satisfying.
