    The darkest and most serious game of the series, even though it's not as Over the Top as the other games, I really dig the gritty vibe this game has, and the music fits very well.

    The story is a lot more than inspiring and teaching. There's something special about this game... It's a lot different than San Andreas, and i think the grayish color gives it its special feel, since the story is dark by itself. Lagging, stuttering, bugs and all other bad things are just too small for the greatness of this ever lasting classic.

    Un juego de primera, a pesar de los años a envejecido bien, sus físicas son increíbles y mejores que GTA 5 pero en frame rate es pésimo en ciertos momentos pero lo suficientemente bueno para ser disfrutable su historia es genial, eso sí no hay música de fondo pero es lo de menos, en definitiva un buen GTA, aunque, algo infravalorado al día de hoy

    GTA IV. For me the best GTA ever made. The dark atmospheres of the streets of Liberty City, the American dream of Niko Bellic, The harsh reality, the soundtrack. Everything fell into place in this game.

    It is therefore not surprising that, years later, I can still evoke the feeling I had during my first playthrough.

    In short, a unique experience of the best GTA so far.

    I've gotten platinum in every GTA game available on console and I must say, this one didn't disappoint at all. The graphics for the time were amazing. While the driving felt like boats and was nowhere good as GTA 5, it was still fun and the flying mechanics were much more enjoyable than that in GTA 5. The story was amazing. Nico is probably my favorite protagonist out of all of the games.I've gotten platinum in every GTA game available on console and I must say, this one didn't disappoint at all.     The best gta ever released. I think rockstar could have done something with secundary missions and other activities to do in free play when you finish the game, but it is the most realistic game that i ever seen, everthing is perfect like real life.

    Great world and tons of content. Great character in Belic, a hardened criminal without the glamour that is usually portrayed in films nowadays.

    Only negative is that pesky Roman insisting for a date.

    It was released back in 2003.. yet still better than GTA V.

    Things I liked.
    • The physics.
    •The graphics/how the game changes colors based on who you play.
    • all the small details that make the world of this game feel alive.
    •No flying bikes.
    •No sharkcard **** attached.
    • And finally, the actual crime story they tell instead of something that's trying to rip-off sants row.

    this concertesa is one of the best games in the GTA franchise, but the game left a lot to be desired in many ways, their biggest problem was the giant focus on realism, that made the game very boring, and doesn't want to finish it again

    Another incredibly solid entry for the Grand Theft Auto series. One of the most essential games for the PS3 and one of the most iconic too. Suffers from a lot of the same issues its brother-games also do, such as repetitiveness and recycled missions, but overall a great game.

I can't speak for other people, but in my opinion, it is the best GTA, the best game of 2008, the greatest game on the PS3, and I will not hesitate to say that this is the best game I have ever played in my life. It is that good. So let's talk about why.

    This game. Is amazing. It nails almost every aspect of it greatly. The story is great; it's in a not so steep competition for best GTA story. You play as Niko Belic of Yugoslavia (now Serbia), as he has just moved to America for a better life, escape from his former employer, and finding a man who double-crossed him 10 years ago. He lives with his older cousin, Roman Belic. As the story progresses, he meets several characters, some of which become his very good friends (Little Jacob, Packie, Dwayne, Brucie) and others, no so much (Vladimir, Dimitri, Mikhail.) The story involves completing missions for several of these characters, while the narrative keeps going. The overall tone of this game and its story is very dark and dreary, with some comedy sprinkled throughout. Liberty City (the city where this game takes place in) is basically portrayed as hell. Crime runs rampant, drugs and dealers run the streets, and death is practically everywhere. In the end, you find the man who betrayed Niko, and Dimitri Rascalov (along with a man named Jimmy Pegorino, depending on which side of the story you chose) betrays Niko, leading him to kill Dimitri (or Pegorino) in the final mission. What makes GTA IV impactful is that no matter which ending happens, you don't get a happy ending. One of Niko's closest is killed off (debatably at the peak of their relationship too) and the story ends with Niko trying to live a normal life, distancing himself from crime.

    Of course, when you're not playing the story, you can always just mess around and go off the story path. Running around in GTA IV's massive open world is a thrilling experience. There is plenty to do in the world. There are many little minigames to play including darts, pool, boating, and of course, bowling. You can also just walk around and kill people using GTA's controls. The controls in this game are excellence. It never feels like my controller refuses to work, or there is that one button on the controller that is completely worthless. Every button on the controller does something, and it does it justice. The movement is fluid. Walking around in the game might actually be easier in the game than in real life. And shooting is even easier, along with satisfying. Shooting is very easy to understand, and feels very good.

    Overall, this game is one of the best experiences in a lifetime. You need to give it a spin. 10/10    … Expand

    This is by far the best open-world game I have ever played. The story is straight-up breathtaking and the graphics are really good for the game is so old. Niko Bellic who is the main protagonist is also one of the best protagonists in all of GTA history.

    Greatest game of all time. It was way ahead of time. Just imagine those physics and graphics for a 2008 game, it literally has torque in the game physics.

    Wenn man bei einer Mission versagt (was manchmal fast gewollt ist[man startet falsch herum mit dem Auto in eine Verfolgungsjagd, bis man gewendet hat ist vorbei]) muss man die Mission + den Anfahrtsweg komplett wiederholen. Wenn das mehrmals    GTA IV hat mir sehr viel spaß gemacht und die Geschichte hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Aus heutiger Sicht muss ich dem Spiel aber eine 8 geben, weil:

    Dazu kommen die Anrufe der Freunde zum Treffen. Man kann nur annehmen oder ablehnen --> warum kann man nicht einen späteren Termin ausmachen? so ist man häufig auf halbem Weg Richtung Mission und muss wieder umdrehen.
    ABER: Die Geschichte, die Optik und das grundlegende Gameplay sind wirklich spaßig, auch noch 2022.    … Expand

    One of those deserted island type video games where the gameplay and story is so endlessly replayable.The addictive physics, driving, combat and shooting mechanics make this Grand Theft Auto the best in the series and one of the best games of all time.

    The game isn't near the perfection but i can tell you that this game is very good and it is a must-play. The story is great, one of the the darkest ones if not the darkest in all GTA history, the dark/grey graphics fit very well the atmosphere and the story, the driving is not very realistic but it's way more realistic than on GTA V, and than it deserves an 8/10

Yendo al grano, este juego tiene un sistema de físicas completamente increibles sobre todo para 2008, no había nada igual, y simplemente es divertido jugar con las físicas, disfrutar de la conducción o de los choques, por ejemplo. La trama puede gustar más o menos, pero personalmente la temática de mafia rusa me parece interesante. No le otrogo el 10, por el modo online algo deficiente y metido con calzador, es la primera vez que un GTA tiene online y no ha salido bien del todo, el modo libre era lo que más jugaba sus usuarios. Recomiendo jugar este gran juego, a día de hoy sus físicas realistas siguen divirtiendo y chocar con todo es la bomba. Si no lo has jugado te ofrecerá muchas horas de entretenimiento.… Expand

    Grand Theft Auto IV definitely isnt a perfect game, but it i enjoyed it from start to finish and beyond.

    What i hate about this game is small map... you are limited to play whole game on "one island".
    On the other hand i liked the story.. typical pattern zero to hero.

Lo malo de este juego es la gama de colores de las texturas, la poca variedad de armas, de ropa, coches y varias cosas. Aunque el mapa este bueno por ser NY, le faltan cosas: vegetación, lugares accesibles (como burger shot, chicken bell, etc) y que sea mas amplio. Yo creo que se centraron mas en la historia que en los aspectos graficos, mecanicas y contenido, no es como otros GTA. A este GTA lo salva su historia.… Expand

    Me encantó, probé GTA III (8/10) GTA SA (8.9/10) GTA VC (8.5/10) GTA V (9/10) y debo decir que este juego lo considero como el mejor juego de la saga ya que se siente fresco. La historia la considero exelente ya que a diferencia de las otras entregas, no hay explosiones por todas partes y acción frenética.Me encantó, probé GTA III (8/10) GTA SA (8.9/10) GTA VC (8.5/10) GTA V (9/10) y debo decir que este juego lo considero como el mejor juego de la saga ya que se siente fresco. La historia, mecánicas, jugabilidad, música, etc. se sienten frescos y renovados. La historia la considero exelente ya que a diferencia de las otras entregas, no hay explosiones por todas partes y acción frenética. Las mecánicas y jugabilidad hoy en día pueden llegar a ser estresante, pero benefician a la estética, ciudad e historia. Posee uno de los mejores catálogos de música y se me pegó la "The Soviet Connection" sin embargo no supera a las radios como la de Fallout 3. La ciudad a simple vista es realista pero de vez de en cuando la inmersión se destruye completamente con cosas como los bomberos que prácticamente no sirven para nada o los npc que no actúan cuando te ven con un RPG. La optimización es una mierda eso sí (en ps3)

    While the story could be better, somehow I grew fond of the main character, and I enjoyed going through the missions and completing the game. I feel the world is pretty big, there's quite a lot to see and do without it getting too repetitive. You can spend a lot of time playing this game, especially if you want to complete all the side missions, so you definitely get your money's worth

    O game envelheceu mal, comparado ao GTA 5 no quesito diversão ele fica pra trás, em questão de mecânicas e físicas pode até ser bom, mas muito realismo em games pode ser um tanto chato, em fim, na época que lançou talvez tenha sido algo que impressionou bastante a Crítica, mas hoje em dia vemos o quão envelheceu esse Game.

    I'll be honest, this was my first ever GTA game I played. And it didn't diappoint. The friend feature was fine for a lil bit, but then got really annoying after awhile. I can't say much about the multiplayer since I didn't play that portion of the game.

A personal favourite of mine, this game is filled with dark and grey themes blended with intense violence which makes you question the essence of humanity time and time again. The storyline is astonishingly great, it's highly addictive and it always makes    DARK, GRITTY AND GORY.

    This installment in the Grand Theft Auto universe is the darkest and the most mature game in the entire series. A personal favourite of mine, this game is filled with dark and grey themes blended with intense violence which makes you question the essence of humanity time and time again. The storyline is astonishingly great, it's highly addictive and it always makes you wanna know what comes next. This game has some extremely well-written characters with great dialogues. In fact, the main protagonist of GTA IV known as Niko Bellic, is among the best characters in video gaming history. GTA IV can be pretty divisive and it might not be everyone's cup of tea. It doesn't recycle the tried-and-tested GTA formula, and does a great job of differentiating itself from all its predecessors and also the most recent installment, GTA V.

    Grand Theft Auto IV is an extraordinary game, a masterpiece that leaves an everlasting impact on the gamers.

    Underneath this sloppy port hides a great GTA experience.

    The Good:
    Liberty City looks and feels alive. Good story, graphics and voice-acting make for quite an experience. New covering system makes combat really fun.

    The Bad:

The game is old by now and yes it shows, looking at the graphics, but it doesn’t matter because what they lack in detail they make up for in composition and general stylishness.     Esto es pura obra de arte , con una ambientación llevada a la perfección, intentando crear el juego mas realista posible con las físicas muy bien hechas, y la conducción puede ser complicada, pero esta hecho por la razon del realismo y parece perfecto. El multi es lo que tiene que ser un multi de GTA, sin micro pagos y solo tu y tus amigos haciendo el imbécil por la ciudad.

The series always stood for beautiful open worlds, badass stories, exaggerated action, well written characters and a sheer freedom of playing. GTA IV satisfies all of these characteristics with brilliance. There`s nothing better than driving the dark streets of LibertyAs a GTA fan from the first hour it was very delightful to see the giant steps Rockstar Games takes with every release. The series always stood for beautiful open worlds, badass stories, exaggerated action, well written characters and a sheer freedom of playing. GTA IV satisfies all of these characteristics with brilliance. There`s nothing better than driving the dark streets of Liberty City and listening to the numerous outstanding radio stations while on the way to the next thrilling, action packed mission.     A great game, the gray days of New York are conveyed just fine. The plot is average, there are some memorable characters, but there are not many of them. The gameplay and physics are amazing. I like this game, but the plot is bad.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ahhh GTA IV, played this game at release back at 2008 and play again this game after 12 years makes me want to review this game.

    Ok, the graphics is really good at the time of this game release but what i like the most is the physics of this game, combining realism and over the top makes me feel at the time this is the best physic on any video game.

    The story is really good, you follow Niko Bellic, a former soldier trying to living the american dream but instead falls into the criminal underworld to pay the debts of his cousin. The story is darker compared to other GTA games and thats good, giving the story much more matured. The character development is good and the message of the story is very clear that revenge feels empty and useless and must move on. Niko Bellic also for me is the 2nd best video game character (behind Arthur Morgan from RDR 2).

    The gameplay is really good at the time, i like the cover system because it's so smooth but the gunplay is somewhaty too easy because the constant lock on target system. The Liberty city is so well crafted that the city feels alive.

    But thats where the good stuff ends, for fun gameplay, this game is mediocre compared to GTA SA, the world is smaller, less minigames other than the famous bowling meme and focus on realism is good but takes away all the fun, and the licensed soundtrack is somewhat mediocre than other GTA games.

    That's about it, i think this game is still worth playing in 2020 after all hehehe..    … Expand

    Great game. deep story, protagonist with a life story, one of the best gameplay and realistic physics that impresses in the middle of 2020. in the smallest details convinces me to be the best game in the series ever released.
    the game map could be bigger and the soundtrack is not so good compared to "vice city" and "san andreas".

The compelling and dark story of Niko Bellic and plot set in the vast criminal underworld of Liberty City really made this one of the greatest storylines in any GTA game. Alongside that, GTA IV introduced a lot of new features such as better ragdoll physics, better gunfights including the ability to take cover, the ability to makeOne of the best Grand Theft Auto games I've ever played. The compelling and dark story of Niko Bellic and plot set in the vast criminal underworld of Liberty City really made this one of the greatest storylines in any GTA game. Alongside that, GTA IV introduced a lot of new features such as better ragdoll physics, better gunfights including the ability to take cover, the ability to make choices during missions, the ability to hang out with friends, and an overall much alive and realistic atmosphere. Overall, one of the greatest games I've ever played on the Playstation 3.

    The driving in GTA 4 may need a little practice!

If you're looking for a really good singleplayer game, GTA IV will be a good choice. Of course, It could be done better. The map could be bigger, Rockstar could implement fly-able planes, multiplayer (which recently died) could also be more expanded, but still, it's a veryIn my opinion, it's the best GTA so far.     Gta 5 is imo the best ever but this definitely deserves my 10 rating. I remember tge excitement when I started playing it as a kid and especially "cops N crooks" online mod, which not even in Gta 5 I couldn't match it.

    It's a great game, even without the Checkpoint system. It has beautiful physics and beautiful graphics according to its time, but there is a shortage of optimization.
